Sunday News Roundup: Antifa Goes to Sturgis and Portland Cops Suddenly Fight Back

This is the perfect illustration of what Twitter really is. – President Trump lost his brother, Robert Trump, to illness on Saturday. In response, the perpetual outrage crowd on Twitter started a hashtag, #wrongtrump, trending. The despicable cretins who run Twitter have left it up on their trending session all night long.

Twitter is a cesspool filled largely with self-loathing sub-humans.

America’s “first black woman vice presidential nominee” is a … Caucasian? – That’s what her own parents stated for her birth certificate:

Image

Caucasian at birth, Indian or Jamaican when convenient, and now “black” in order to be placed on a presidential ticket. This is one highly-versatile lady.

Sadly, they were not beaten to within an inch of their sorry lives and dumped in a ditch. – A small band of Antifa fascists decided to go to Sturgis on Saturday and protest the big annual bike rally being held there. Fun predictably ensued, as reported at Powerline Blog:

Earlier today, a handful of Antifa goofs decided to take their anti-American shtick to the annual biker rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. If this sounds like a bad idea to you, you are right.

Actually, the bikers were commendably well-behaved. Sturgis is a fun, feel-good event, and it would take more than a few fascists to put the bikers in a seriously bad mood. Still, a scuffle broke out at one point. Police officers protected the Antifas and escorted them away safely. (It isn’t you, there is no sound with this video.)

Of course, the Antifas were counting on law enforcement to protect them. Some might find this ironic.

This is one instance where I would have preferred for the police to have been defunded. Unfortunately, they did their jobs.

Back to Kamala Harris… – Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Kimberly Strassel dismantles the 180 degree turn that the corrupt news media has performed in its characterization of Joe Biden’s designated successor. Back in December, when she ended her horror story of a campaign earlier than any other significant contender, the corrupt media mocked her. Today, now that she’s the Veep nominee of their Democrat Party masters, the very same corrupt reporters parrot DNC talking points portraying her as an invincible campaigner.

It really is amazing to watch. Here’s an excerpt from Strassel’s piece:

In that run, Ms. Harris had about 50 seconds of fame—from a June 2019 debate in which she accused Mr. Biden of being too friendly to racists. Her “That little girl was me” moment and other practiced phrases led to a “Saturday Night Live” impersonation that, as SFGate noted, “mocks” the candidate for her “ ‘viral moments’ desperation.” A New York Times story about how her campaign “unraveled” described one such quest for a memorable catchphrase, noting that her aides had become “given to gallows humor about just how many slogans and one-liners she has cycled through.”

If commentators are now struggling to define Ms. Harris, it’s because she offers little that is truly defining. The party establishment quickly closed ranks around her 2016 Senate race, allowing her to run a standard liberal campaign that the Los Angeles Times described as “carefully orchestrated” and “overly cautious and scripted.” In her 3½ Senate years, she’s done little by way of legislation, preferring to showboat at hearings. The lack of an animating agenda helps a explain a presidential campaign in which she bounced from left to far-left position, whatever she thought most helpful at the moment. She twice called to eliminate private health insurance—and twice reversed herself the next day after backlash. As Vox noted, the “combination of policy reversals and botched rollout . . . undermined faith in her ability to govern on the issue Democrats rate as most important.”

The campaign was a mess, rocked by infighting, leaks, restarts and financial problems. After the campaign announced layoffs in early November, its veteran Iowa operations manager wrote a scathing resignation letter in which she said she’d “never seen an organization treat its staff so poorly” and expressed dismay at its ability to make “the same unforced errors over and over.” Ms. Harris didn’t even make it to the first contest, dropping out—broke and with embarrassing poll numbers—two months before the Iowa caucuses. The only other “top tier” candidate to implode as quickly or spectacularly was Beto O’Rourke. The Washington Post campaign obituary bluntly called Ms. Harris an “uneven campaigner” who was “engulfed by low polling numbers, internal turmoil and a sense that she was unable to provide a clear message.” The Post this week lauded Ms. Harris as “vibrant and energetic” and a “vessel for Democratic hopes.”

[End]

As I pointed out on Thursday, Kamala Harris adds nothing but female hormones and dark-ish skin to the Biden non-campaign. She doesn’t help him in a single state, and her utter ineptitude as a campaigner will certainly end up costing the campaign many times in the weeks to come. She became pick only by virtue of being slightly  more appealing than the human slug Susan Rice.

She’s a horrible choice, but in the end, the only choice Biden’s handlers had once their addled candidate put them in the box they were in.

Meanwhile, in Portland… – Have the gloves been taken off of the Portland police now that the state police have abandoned the fight? It kind of looks like that might have been the case last night, as the Portland LEOs used tear gas, slashed the tires of idiots blocking traffic and just generally raised havoc with the communist Democrat-sponsored rioters.

As usual, we only know all of this thanks to the sterling efforts of real journalist Andy Ngo, who is one of Twitter’s few reedeming assets:

It’s good to see the police fighting back, albeit only on the 79th consecutive night of rioting in their city. Only time will tell if this was an aberration or a new policy dictate from communist Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler. We will find out when the riots ramp up for their 80th straight night on Sunday.

That is all.

Saturday News Roundup: Trump Trolls the Press as Portland Spirals out of Control

Let’s start with this bit of hilarity from President Donald Trump at his impromptu press conference last night:

I’ve watched it 20 times and still laugh out loud.

The trouble with Susan Rice is that she’s a liar and probably a criminal. – Other than that, she’d make a great vice president. At least, the Democrats appear to think so, with rumors continuing to swirl that she now leads the horse race to become Joe Biden’s designated successor, er, “running mate.”

Writing at RealClearInvestigation, Eric Felton published a terrific expose’ of how Rice’s serial lies could ultimately lead to her prosecution.

Here’s an excerpt from that piece:

Susan Rice, the vice presidential contender with a high-profile history of questionable public statements, has another dubious claim in her past that until now has escaped scrutiny. Rice swore under oath that as President Obama’s national security adviser she was never told about the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation. But former FBI Director James Comey testified that Rice was present when he informed Obama all about Crossfire Hurricane just weeks after the investigation was launched.

James Comey: His account of telling the White House about Crossfire Hurricane differs markedly from Susan Rice’s recollection. She testified: “We were not informed by Director Comey or the attorney general that there was an active investigation of anybody in the Trump orbit.”

The contradiction could lead to charges that Rice lied to Congress about a topic still of intense interest to investigators: How actively involved in the effort to spy on the Trump campaign was the inner circle of the Obama White House, including the president himself? More immediately, the question of whether Rice told the truth on Capitol Hill might damage her bid to join Joe Biden on the Democratic presidential ticket.

Rice earned a reputation for shading the truth after the 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. She was famously dispatched to five different Sunday morning news shows to repeat false talking points: that the mob that killed four Americans – including Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens – was merely reacting to an obscure YouTube video mocking Islam.

Questions about her forthrightness were redoubled when Senate investigators found that, in the waning minutes of the Obama administration, Rice wrote a curious “memo to the file.” She sent an email to herself on the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration, and in it claimed that Obama had insisted that everything to do with Russia, whether law enforcement or counterintelligence, be done “by the book.”

President Obama and Rice: Both were present at a meeting where, the FBI’s Comey said, the Trump-Russia probe was discussed at its outset. She denied knowing about it.

Asked about that memo later, Rice insisted she knew nothing about the FBI’s counterintelligence probe regarding Trump and Russia, let alone anything that could be characterized as spying on the incoming administration. She had her lawyer, Kathryn Ruemmler, write a letter to Sens. Charles Grassley, Dianne Feinstein, Lindsey Graham, and Sheldon Whitehouse. “While serving as National Security Advisor, Ambassador Rice was not briefed on the existence of any FBI investigation into allegations of collusion between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia,” Ruemmler wrote, “and she later learned of the fact of this investigation from Director Comey’s subsequent public testimony” – testimony that didn’t occur until March 20, 2017

On Wednesday, September 8, 2017, Rice repeated that she knew nothing of the FBI’s investigation while in the White House. This time she made the claim under oath.

Rice was at the Capitol, sitting in a secure room used by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The official reason for the interview was to ask what the Obama administration had done to thwart Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. Behind those questions was a different query: Had Barack Obama’s team used the power of the presidency to spy on and smear the Trump campaign?

With the expectation of facing unfriendly questions, Rice arrived with two attorneys from the law firm Latham & Watkins.

Adam Schiff: “… [W]ould Director Comey brief you on the progress of his investigation?” he asked Rice. “No,” replied Rice under oath.

The Republican staffer running the interview emphasized to Rice the importance of telling the truth: “You are reminded that it is unlawful to deliberately provide false information to members of Congress or staff.” She was asked to raise her right hand and take an oath: “Madam Ambassador, do you swear or affirm that the testimony you’re about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?”

“I do,” Rice said.

[End]

Go read the full piece, and then you will fully understand why the Obama Cabal wants Rice to be on the ticket as a means of self-preservation.

Kristi Noem is a boss. – God Bless South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who has stood out among all of the nation’s 50 governors with her tremendous leadership through the China Virus pandemic. Her state was never shut down, has never had a mask mandate, has never had travel restrictions, has never had a shelter-in-place order, and has seen the best results in the entire country, perhaps in the world.

As other states have witnessed their convention industries literally go up in smoke, Noem’s leadership made it possible for President Trump to stage the magnificent tribute to America at Mount Rushmore on July 3. This weekend, that same leadership has set the stage for this to happen:

Thanks to Governor Noem’s leadership, the people of South Dakota are still living their best lives, and that fact will be celebrated by a quarter of a million bikers this week.

America.

Meanwhile, in Portland, Oregon… – We go from the best example of real leadership in a crisis our country has to offer directly to the very worst example, in Ted Wheeler’s communist republic of Portland. There, as we mentioned yesterday, the Democrat Party-sponsored rioters have now expanded their base of destruction to include not just the city center, but now at least one residential area as well, as state and local police continue to be hamstrung by Wheeler and communist Democrat Governor Kate Brown.

Here are examples of last night’s mayhem, chronicled as usual by real journalist Andy Ngo:

Here’s a notice sent out to residents of that neighborhood – I’m sure this made them feel so much better:

Hooboy.

But the rioters of course remained active in the downtown area as well:

Look, this is spiraling completely out of control now. Unless Brown and Wheeler release the state and local LEOs to really do their jobs using all riot control tools at their disposal, the rioters will only continue to expand their operations into additional areas of the city. It is one thing to sit back and allow these goons to occupy and destroy public property: It is quite another thing to let them do the same things in residential areas where the lives of private citizens and their children come into risk.

If the communist Democrats won’t stop this, then the President must do it for them, regardless of any political considerations. The separation of powers only works when the people holding power in a given jurisdiction are well-meaning Americans. That obviously is no longer the case in Portland.

That is all.
