Tuesday News Roundup: A UniParty Impeachment Deal, and Why Ron DeSantis Must Lead the GOP Resistance

Today’s Short-Term Memory Update – Just a reminder that we are now less than 3 weeks away from the 365-day anniversary of “15 Days to Flatten the Curve.”

BREAKING: The UniParty has reached a deal with itself! – The Democrats’ latest impeachment scam attacking Donald Trump is set to start today, as UniParty leaders Democan Chuck Schumer and Republicrat Mitch McConnell reached a deal on what the “rules” for the looming orgy of hyper-partisan slander will look like.

From a story at Politico:

The agreement between Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, in conjunction with the House impeachment managers and Trump’s lawyers, will allow up to four hours of arguments on Tuesday about the constitutionality of putting a former president on trial. The Senate will then vote on whether the trial is constitutional.

Beginning on Wednesday, each side will have up to 16 hours to lay out their case, spread out over two days per side. Senators will then have four hours to pose questions to the House managers and Trump’s attorneys.

The agreement also allows for the House managers to ask for a debate and subsequent votes on whether to call witnesses — a provision specifically requested by the managers, Schumer said. Later, each side will have two hours to present closing arguments.

[End]

On that last point, Democrats will have to tread lightly on calling witnesses, given that several Republicans – like Lindsey Graham – have threatened to retaliate for any Democrat calling of witnesses by calling an array of prominent Dems to testify, including members of the senate itself:

What is shaping up here is exactly what everyone should have anticipated: Yet another act in the unending farce that is the DC Swamp Kabuki Theater. We already know the outcome – there will not be nearly enough votes to convict the former President of the fraudulent “incitement to insurrection” article of impeachment – and every word uttered by any Democrat will be a bald-faced lie. Because that’s what Democrats do.

Of course, they will have as many as five RINOs voting with them, so they’ll be able to claim it was all “bi-partisan.” But even that word itself is a sham as applied to Washington, DC, since there is in reality only one party in the DC Swamp, and everything it does is scripted in advance.

Are we not entertained?

Where are Texas and Florida on this? – The state legislatures in North Dakota and South Dakota are both currently considering bills that would give their governors extraordinary authority to nullify Biden executive orders that they and their attorneys general deem to be illegal and/or unconstitutional.

From a story at RedState.com:

In other words, if Biden issues an executive order, the state’s attorney general may review the order to determine if it complies with the Constitution. From there, the state will determine if they should seek exemption from the order or challenge the order on constitutional grounds.

The bill goes on to state specifics when it comes to the orders it will “nullify” in the event of constitutional breaches, such as “pandemics or other health emergencies,” regulation of North Dakota’s agriculture industry, any financial orders that relate to environmental or social standards, and “the regulation of the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”

As a separate but related bill, Republican State Rep. Sebastian Ertelt introduced a similar law that would nullify any federal laws that also breach constitutional authority. HB1282 would create a “Committee on Neutralization of Federal Laws” which would determine the constitutionality of any given federal law and, if found wanting, would proceed to nullify it within the state.

North Dakota isn’t the only state looking to implement these bills into law. South Dakota has cooked up a few of their own bills that effectively do the same thing.

[End]

This is what is known as a good start, but the same approach needs to be taken up by every Red State in America. This is the way for Republicans/conservatives to resist the leftist surge the Biden/Harris people are currently attempting to force upon the American public.

Conservatives are not going to do what Democrats do, and create a terrorist wing (BLM/Antifa) that executes violent riots all over the country on their behalf. The way for conservatives to resist these unconstitutional orders is through the legislative process and the courts, which means that GOP-dominated legislatures and GOP governors will have to suck it up and lead the effort.

It’s one thing for the Dakotas, with their combined populations of less than 2 million Americans, to do this, but what is needed is for Texas and Florida, with their combined populations now in excess of 50 million, to also jump into the fray and lead. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton got off to a good start a few weeks ago with his challenge to Biden’s order to halt all deportations, but a start is all that is. We now need the governors of those states to step in.

There, we will have to hope that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will lead the way, since Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott has proved to be very timid in really challenging the national orthodoxy. Take it from a Texan: If there is to be a real and viable conservative resistance to the Biden/Harris junta, DeSantis will have to lead it.

Being a leftist crisis actor means never having to say you’re sorry:

What, Robert DeNiro and Alec Baldwin weren’t available? – The great Mollie Hemingway has a terrific takedown of Jeep’s amazingly tone-deaf and hypocritical Super Bowl ad featuring 3-note rock star Bruce Springsteen at The Federalist today. After spending the past four years as a prominent participant in the far-left hate campaign against Donald Trump, Springsteen is not quite the last person Jeep should have selected to feature in an ad calling for national unity, but he’s pretty damn close.

Here’s an excerpt from Hemingway’s piece:

Just before the 2020 election, Springsteen called for “an exorcism in our nation’s capital” as dark music played on his radio show. Of Trump’s presidency, he said, “I thought it was a f—ing nightmare, but it was true.” The episode, titled “Farewell To The Thief,” also insulted President Trump’s family.

The 71-year-old Springsteen told Australians that he would leave the United States and move there if Trump was re-elected.

Springsteen’s posture against Republicans is well known and goes back decades. He was angry at President Ronald Reagan’s positive mention of Springsteen’s “Born In The U.S.A.” He endorsed and campaigned for John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.

Of President George W. Bush in 2008, Springsteen said the United States was now “suffering the consequences” of eight years of rule by a “very radical group of people who pushed things in a very radical direction, had great success in moving things in that direction, and we are suffering the consequences.” By 2016, he was calling President Trump a “moron.” In 2017 he bashed Trump in a protest song.

As one Twitter user put it, “That’s all I could think of, the whole spot. Being preached to by someone who doesn’t respect my views who relishes in suppressing them, having the nerve to pretend to be ‘my community’ and declare unity. They have no idea how transparently cynical the whole thing came across.”

[End]

The choice of a spokesman by Jeep could have been worse, but not a lot worse. I’ve actually bought two Jeeps in my life, but will never even consider buying another one after this cynical display.

That is all.

The “Resistance” Movement’s History of Failure

Guest Piece by Gregg Updike

The current and ongoing “resistance” movement was spawned when the Democrats didn’t get their “inevitable” candidate elected to continue Obama’s third term.

Many (ignorant of political and historical perspective) people who I know to this day still think Obama inherited a mess from Bush Jr. and did a “good” job getting us out of the terrible horrible Bush years. Most are securely employed government workers and were otherwise unaffected by Obama’s stagnant economy. For the most part, this pervasive mindset was driven by the MSM (D) where everything every Republican did was akin to Hitler and every Democrat was a saint who only wanted to do the best for everyone.

So the anti GOP mindset is firmly hardwired into the minds of 40 plus percent of the population. The 20 or so percent of the elected feckless RINOs contribute mightily to this mindset. Many of these RINOS know a Democrat can’t get elected to represent their district, city or state, so they became “Republican” to win their election; that is why they are called RINOs.

Bloomberg is a great example. A lifelong liberal Democrat, he became a “Republican” to avoid a crowded Democratic primary, and rode Giuliani’s coattails to win in NYC.

Thus the Grahams, Alexanders, Rubios and McLames of the world get elected running as “conservatives”. Once elected, they quickly establish political machines to wipe out any future primary contenders and essentially become senator etc. for life. I have no doubt many also receive money and other covert support from the big government employee unions. A little known secret is many big organizations including most if not all big businesses support BOTH parties’ candidate; therefore no matter who wins they get their place at the table. That is how the political ‘system’ gets so corrupted.

In reality, for years, most Republicans don’t win elections; they get elected when the Democrat is so bad that the people (voters) revolt and vote for the alternative Republican or whatever “Independent” is on the ballot. Examples of Democrats who were so bad they were beaten in their reelect bid: President Carter, NJ Governor Florio, NY Mayor Dinkins, B. J. Clinton losing both houses of congress together for the first time in forty years, and Al Gore and Hillary Clinton not winning on the coattails of “popular” Democratic Presidents.

Both Clinton and Obama should have been one term presidents like Carter was, but they (unlike Carter) were propped up by the leftist media and beat very mediocre challengers (Dole and Romney). Reagan was a great candidate compared to Dole and Romney and he won because you can’t beat someone with no one, and Biden is as close to being a ‘no one’ as any candidate for any office in history.

The dumbing down of America’s youth in the public school system, and then the indoctrination of the high school “graduates” in our institutions of ‘higher learning’ all but ensures a Democratic leaning electorate. B. J. Clinton’s snake oil campaign and Obama’s “Hope and Change” messaging carried the day against media demonized, and miserable opponents.

Many GOP nominees are also known as “Designated Losers”. Bush Sr. was seen as being so bad a president – a Republican Jimmy Carter – that a major Independent (Perot) was able to get nearly 20% of the popular vote in 1992. This was very similar to the 1912 election between Taft and Wilson where Teddy Roosevelt (the original progressive) ran as an anti-Taft third party candidate and split the conservative vote. America got our first ‘worst’ president.

This is why we need runoff elections. There is no reason a candidate (Clinton) should win the presidency with only 43% of the popular vote.

About this ongoing anti-Trump “resistance”, there is no doubt in my mind that a similar coup and subsequent “resistance” effort would have been mounted against a Cruz or a Kasich or a Bush III presidency – and it would have worked in getting a resignation like was force upon Nixon when he lost support of the feckless GOP senate in 1974.

Trump, with his message, was the only 2016 GOP candidate who could have won against the Clinton machine. I also believe Sanders and his “message” could have beaten Trump since he didn’t have the Clinton baggage and essentially was the left’s version of ‘outsider’ Trump. Many of his supporters were angered because he was shafted by Clinton and the DNC. When Clinton was anointed, many Sanders supporters just stayed home.

Biden’s apparent win against Sanders is just history repeating itself. The real problem for the DNC and the left is Biden is so much worse a candidate than Hillary.

“The Resistance” is a term carefully chosen by the anti-Trump leftist movement. In world War II, covert fifth column sabotage was called “The Resistance” in Nazi occupied Europe to cripple Hitler’s war effort – “set Europe Ablaze” was Churchill’s slogan; Antifa and other groups are engaged in doing the same today. It was also supported bigtime by outside forces – the Allies in WWII, Antifa is also highly supported and organized by the numerous anti-Trump forces.

These riots and the “resistance” movement were looking for a ‘triggering event’ to set America ablaze as the Covid-19 “plandemic” crisis was running out of steam and we were beginning to return to “normal”. It was and is all too organized, all too coherent to be an organic protest on a nationwide scale. Look for other false flags to be created in the remaining five months before the election as the left driven “resistance” is getting more and more desperate to beat the “Bad Orange Man”.

So far, they have failed miserably with the three phase coup attempt, Mueller, Ukraine Impeachment, Covid-19, and now the violence. My only fear is the cumulative effect of all this intense turmoil created by the Democrats and the crisis-centric media could create a certain amount of ‘Trump Fatigue’. The relative peace of Obama’s administration may seem attractive to some who want to get back to “normal”.

Exactly What is the “Resistance” Resisting?

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Vegas oddsmakers have set the over/under on its survival at 13-1/2 days. –  Donald Trump’s star – which has been destroyed by nutjob Democrats twice since 2016, has been restored once again on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  Workers reset the star on Saturday in the face of a vote by the West Hollywood City Council in early August to have the star permanently removed.

The Walk of Fame, however, is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, whose President, Leron Gubler, had this to say about the matter: “Any star, which is vandalized or destroyed, no matter which honoree it belongs to will be replaced by the Hollywood Historic Trust, a non-profit, non-partisan group. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a historic landmark which celebrates the professional contributions of the inductees. The stars, once installed, are considered part of the historic fabric of the Walk.”

Those are great sentiments, but Hollywood is filled to capacity with nutjobs and malcontents who have been programmed by the Democrat Party and our fake news media to believe it is their right to do literally anything they want to anything or anyone favorable to Donald Trump.  So, unless the Chamber of Commerce is going to foot the bill for round-the-clock security, it is a very safe bet that this latest Trump star will be destroyed very soon by some entitled Hillary Clinton voter wielding an axe or a spade.

For his part, Mr. Gubler, for taking this honorable action, can now expect to be bullied off of Twitter, Facebook or any other social media platform he currently inhabits by a vicious mob of howling Democrats. Because this is what they do and who they are.

No worries, CBS, Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose are available to step in. – After no fewer than six more women came out of hiding to accuse him of sexual abuse and discrimination in the work place, CBS CEO Les Moonves finally gave up the ghost and took his 8-figure severance package to exit stage left (because he’s a Democrat after all, and left is all he knows).

Moonves is charged with all manner of sex abuse, up to and including outright rape, and if he didn’t live out in Hollywood he’d be looking a tons of jail time.  But hey, this is just normal behavior in the TV/film community, so we can expect charges for any crime that took place in the LA area to be dropped by the same LA District Attorney’s office that recently declined to prosecute Kevin Spacey and Steven Seagal.  These people protect their own, and good ol’ Les is almost as big a muckety-muck as Harvey Weinstein.

Exactly what is it they’re “resisting” again?  I’m so confused. – As Today’s Campaign Update was being compiled this morning, President Donald Trump went on one of his early morning tweet-fests.  Several of the tweets make you wonder exactly what it is that the Democrat/Media “resistance” is resisting, other than is bombastic and unconventional management style.  Here are some examples:

Think about that first one for a second, because it’s extraordinary.  We had quarters during the Reagan and Clinton years during which the GDP growth rate exceeded 6 percent, yet the rate of unemployment during those quarters was higher than that.  Even during those economic boom times, the U.S. economy did not produce jobs at the rate we are seeing today.

The second tweet is speculative – the economy was growing during the final Obama years, although at a much slower rate than today – but the point about the importance of the Trump regulation and tax cuts is undeniably true.  Barack Obama was out there on Friday laughably trying to take credit for this current boom, but the biggest tragedy of his administration is that this boom could have taken place on his watch had he not had is regulators working so feverishly to prevent it from happening.  But Obama was more interested in consolidating power within the federal government than in freeing up the U.S. economy, so his legacy will forever be one of sluggish economic growth thanks to his choking regulatory policies.  Nothing to be done about that now, Barry.

But back to the Trump economic boom:  When you combine the facts mentioned in this morning’s tweets with record-low unemployment rates for Hispanics, record-low unemployment rates for African Americans, record-high employment for women, rising wage increases, the return of hundreds of thousands of blue-collar jobs to our country at a pace no one could have possibly imagined, and on and on and on, you do have to wonder exactly what is being “resisted” here, other than style.

All of which explains why that “anonymous” New York Times op/ed focused its whining complaints about the President on matters of style, not substance.  Because when you focus on substance, the first two years of Donald Trump have undeniably been the most successful first two years of any president in modern times, and it really isn’t close.

Just another day in Trump Derangement Syndrome America.

That is all.
