Thursday News Roundup: Andrew Cuomo Might be in Real Trouble

Andrew Cuomo could be in real trouble, finally. – I know it’s hard to believe that any Democrat public official in this country could ever be in real trouble, given the devoted efforts of the entirety of the corrupt national news media to provide cover for them. Least of all, Andrew Cuomo, who the media has virtually deified during the COVID pandemic, pretending that his utterly disastrous responses to the virus were somehow a role model for other governors to emulate.

But he really could be in trouble now, mainly because even his fellow Democrats in New York are beginning to turn against him in the wake of revelations that his administration systematically and intentionally under-reported the number of elderly residents who were dying in the state’s nursing homes, thanks mainly to Cuomo’s policy of sending them to those homes from hospitals before their course of treatment had ended, and while they were still contagious. It seems that even some Democrats don’t really want to be seen as supporting a governor who is responsible for the needless deaths of thousands of their own people.

On Wednesday, Democrat state representative Ron Kim told reporters that Cuomo had threated to “destroy” him if he didn’t help Cuomo chief of staff Melissa DeRosa cover up the administration’s systematic under-reporting of nursing home deaths, an effort DeRosa herself led on Cuomo’s behalf.

From a story at The Hill:

New York Assemblyman Ron Kim (D) told CNN on Wednesday that Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) had threatened him over the phone after he criticized the governor over a pause in the release of data on coronavirus deaths in state nursing homes.

“Gov. Cuomo called me directly on Thursday to threaten my career if I did not cover up for Melissa [DeRosa] and what she said. He tried to pressure me to issue a statement, and it was a very traumatizing experience,” Kim told CNN.

“We’re in this business together and we don’t cross certain lines,” Kim said the governor told him. He also said Cuomo told him that he “hadn’t seen his wrath and that he can destroy me.”

Top Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa told state lawmakers during a virtual meeting that the Cuomo administration “froze” releasing information on long-term care facility deaths out of concern that the Department of Justice (DOJ) under former President Trump would launch a federal investigation.

Oh. Bad optics, there, Governor. But not really surprising given his family’s historic ties to the New York mob.

But things are just getting worse for the thug-in-chief. This morning, multiple outlets are reporting that Cuomo now finds himself under investigation by both the FBI and the New York State Attorney General’s office.

From the story at DailyWire:

New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo is under investigation by the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, as well as the FBI, for his administration’s decision to send recovering coronavirus patients into nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, local New York media reported Wednesday night.

According to the Albany Times-Union, the U.S. Attorney’s investigation is in its “early stages” but is focusing on Cuomo’s controversial nursing home policy, which may have resulted in thousands of deaths, many more than the Cuomo administration originally reported.

“The probe by the U.S. attorney’s office in the Eastern District of New York is apparently in its early stages and is focusing on the work of some of the senior members of the governor’s task force, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter who is not authorized to comment publicly,” the Times-United noted.

“Last March, as the virus began spreading in New York, Cuomo issued a news release listing the 13 initial members of his coronavirus task force, which has been headed by Linda Lacewell, an attorney and former chief of staff for Cuomo,” the outlet reported. “Lacewell is the superintendent of the state Department of Financial Services. Other task force members include state health Commissioner Howard Zucker, Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa and Beth Garvey, counsel to the governor.”

The governor’s office acknowledged to the Times-Union that there is a Department of Justice investigation but insisted that there was no news to report on the subject.

[End]
Oh. Of course, given the utterly corrupt nature of the national dumpster fire of corruption and incompetence that is the FBI, it’s most likely that information was leaked purely for public consumption, as the agency tries to make it look as if it is doing its job, but will conveniently drop the whole thing once all the hub bub dies down and the news cycle moves to other matters. No one should expect any real action against a high-profile Democrat out of those guys and gals.

As for the New York AG’s office, well, who knows? We’ll just have to wait and see on that one. It should be noted, though, that Rep. Kim is far from the only Democrat in the state who has come out to criticize Cuomo over this matter, so the pressure on that office to perform a real investigation will be significant.

Meanwhile, Cuomo’s little brother Fredo has been reined in by management at CNN, and won’t be allowed to engage in late-night shenanigans and hilarity with his big bro as New Yorkers die all around them anymore.

From the story at DailyWire:

CNN reinstated a ban this week on opinion host Chris Cuomo being able to interview or cover his scandal-ridden brother, New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo, which comes as reports surfaced on Wednesday evening that a criminal investigation has been launched into Andrew Cuomo’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic as it relates to nursing homes.

“The early months of the pandemic crisis were an extraordinary time. We felt that Chris speaking with his brother about the challenges of what millions of American families were struggling with was of significant human interest,” CNN said in a statement. “As a result, we made an exception to a rule that we have had in place since 2013 which prevents Chris from interviewing and covering his brother, and that rule remains in place today. CNN has covered the news surrounding Governor Cuomo extensively.”

That pusillanimous statement from CNN is what we here on the frozen arctic tundra of Texas like to call a rank, smelly load of fresh horse manure. Scum of the earth, all of them.

Speaking of scum of the earth, Bette Midler was also in the news on Wednesday. – The elderly, washed-up singer summed up the feelings of all of her fellow Hollywood leftists about the fact that 4 million Texans are freezing without electricity right now in a single tweet:

Midler’s ghoulish tweet was actually sort of mild in comparison to the outpouring of vile hatred from the left in response to the death yesterday of the great Rush Limbaugh. I’m not going to repeat any of it here, but suffice it to say that our leftist friends invariably unmask their true faces to us whenever a prominent conservative dies.

I keep telling you these people hate you and would rather you were dead, folks. Believe me now?

That is all.

Tuesday News Roundup: AP Slams Cuomo and the Portland Riots Expand Again

The purge continues in Seattle. – The lone bright spot in Seattle’s city government, Police Chief Carmen Best, resigned yesterday, giving the communist Democrats on the city council and in the mayor’s office a victory as they consolidate their efforts to completely destroy that city.

Sadly, probably to preserve her pension, Chief Best  thanked worthless communist Democrat Mayor Jenny Durkan for “her continuous support.” Best and Durkan clashed repeatedly during the June riots and the six-week-long CHAZ/CHOP atrocity, as Durkan steadfastly refused to allow the police department to use all the tools at its disposal to protect the citizens of the city.

Durkan and her fellow communist Democrats will now have the opportunity to hire a fellow Soros-funded lunatic to help them finish killing off the city’s police department. If you live in Seattle and have the means to move away from it, the time to do so is now.

When did Preacher Pete become a woman of color? – Imagine my surprise to get up this morning and see Pete Buttigeig trending on Twitter. We haven’t seen or heard from the former South Bend mayor in many weeks, since his Quixotic pursuit of the Democrat nomination came to an unceremonious end.

But suddenly, there he is, trending on Twitter amid speculation that his name has somehow made its way onto the list of possible running mates for Creepy Uncle Quid Pro Farty China Joe Biden, the Democrat Party’s Unfrozen Caveman Presumptive Nominee. Not that it would be surprising if Biden’s handlers decided to shift away from that promise that their addled candidate rashly made several months ago, given the fact that every one of the “women of color” we have seen vetted thus far would immediately become dead weight to the campaign.

But Preacher Pete? A pasty-white, 30-something gay guy from South Bend, where he is detested by the city’s Black community? That would be a radical shift, indeed.

But hey, it’s probably not about the VEEP slot at all. We should remember that while he was out making rash promises, Biden promised Mayor Pete a prominent role in his administration should he win the election. Biden will be announcing a proposed cabinet soon, and don’t be surprised if Preacher Pete’s name is penciled in as Secretary of State or Defense.

No, I’m not kidding.

Watch as President Trump, at his presser yesterday, lays out a laundry list of those known to be involved in the Obamagate scandal, including Susan Rice, who he refers to as a “potential liability” as a running mate for Biden:

Historic stuff.

Speaking of historic stuff, the President was rushed out of that press briefing earlier after a shooting took place outside of the White House grounds:

After he came back in, one idiot reporter asked him if he was “shaken” by the incident.

Trump responded: “Do I look shaken to you?” and then changed the subject to the booming stock market. Because that’s what a boss does.

Hilarious.

Holy cow, a random act of actual journalism just happened at the Associated Press! – I’m not kidding, y’all. Somehow, the Democrat toady editors at AP failed to catch an actual report about how Andrew Cuomo’s government is severely under-counting the number of elderly folks his policies have managed to kill in that state’s nursing home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

From the AP story:

New York’s true nursing home death toll cloaked in secrecy

NEW YORK (AP) — Riverdale Nursing Home in the Bronx appears, on paper, to have escaped the worst of the coronavirus pandemic, with an official state count of just four deaths in its 146-bed facility.

The truth, according to the home, is far worse: 21 dead, most transported to hospitals before they succumbed.

“It was a cascading effect,” administrator Emil Fuzayov recalled. “One after the other.”

New York’s coronavirus death toll in nursing homes, already among the highest in the nation, could actually be a significant undercount. Unlike every other state with major outbreaks, New York only counts residents who died on nursing home property and not those who were transported to hospitals and died there.

That statistic that could add thousands to the state’s official care home death toll of just over 6,600. But so far the administration of Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo has refused to divulge the number, leading to speculation the state is manipulating the figures to make it appear it is doing a better than other states and to make a tragic situation less dire.

“That’s a problem, bro,” state Sen. Gustavo Rivera, a Democrat, told New York Health Commissioner Howard Zucker during a legislative hearing on nursing homes earlier this month. “It seems, sir, that in this case you are choosing to define it differently so that you can look better.”

How big a difference could it make? Since May, federal regulators have required nursing homes to submit data on coronavirus deaths each week, whether or not residents died in the facility or at a hospital. Because the requirement came after the height of New York’s outbreak, the available data is relatively small. According to the federal data, roughly a fifth of the state’s homes reported resident deaths from early June to mid July — a tally of 323 dead, 65 percent higher than the state’s count of 195 during that time period.

[End]

Make no mistake about it: Cuomo’s policy decisions led directly to the deaths of thousands of elderly New Yorkers since March. And he knew that would be the result when the made the choices. He is very likely the single most prolific mass murderer in American history.

Given the corrupt news media’s massive campaign to cover for the Governor in hopes he might replace Biden at the party’s convention next week, it is frankly stunning that the AP would run this actual piece of real journalism now. It could only happen if the AP editors got a signal from the DNC that the Cuomo boomlet is over.

For the Democrats, it now appears that it will be Biden or bust in 2020. You should bet on bust.

Meanwhile, in Portland, Oregon… – More fun and games last night as the communist Democrat-sponsored rioters expanded their stage of operations again, this time to include the city’s North Police Precinct Building in its attacks:

And the revolving door of communist Portland-style “justice” continues to send the arrested rioters right back onto the streets to riot some more:

And so it goes. It’s becoming repetitive, but it must be said again: This rioting will continue to become increasingly violent and keep spreading throughout the city until someone outside of the communist Democrat Party – which sponsors and pays for the riots – steps in to stop them.

That is all.

Pew Research Center Report Shows Danger of Living in Democrat-Controlled Areas

The Evening Campaign Update

Living in a Democrat congressional district can be very hazardous to your health. That has to be the main takeaway from a report issued on Tuesday by the Pew Research Center.

The report, titled “Coronavirus death toll is heavily concentrated in Democratic congressional districts,” demonstrates that “Of the 44 hardest-hit congressional districts – the top 10% in terms of deaths – 41 are represented by Democrats, while three are represented by Republicans.” Pew’s researchers also found that “nearly a quarter of all the deaths in the United States attributed to the coronavirus have been in just 12 congressional districts – all located in New York City and represented by Democrats in Congress.”

This is stunning data, but it should surprise no one. It is completely in line with the map below, compiled late last week by USAFACTS.org:

The data underlying this map illustrated that roughly 1/3rd of all U.S. Wuhan Virus deaths have taken place in each of the green, yellow and red areas. In other words, fully 2/3rds of all deaths have occurred in large cities and metro areas in the northeast and midwest. All of those areas are dominated by Democrat politicians. These are areas like New York City, Newark, Boston, Chicago and Detroit, where people are packed in more closely together and in which thousands continued to ride public transportation petri dishes to and from work throughout this viral outbreak, thanks to failed leadership by their governors and mayors.

Let’s also remember that it wasn’t Republican politicians who made the ghoulish decisions to send infected seniors back into their nursing homes where they infected thousands more. Those decisions were the exclusive province of Democrats like Andrew Cuomo and Phil Murphy and J.B. Pritzker and Gretchen Whitmer.

Desperate to find some solace in the stark reality of this Pew report, the leftist perpetual outrage crowd on Twitter tried and failed to make some hay out of this chart earlier today:

Obviously, when 80% of the deaths take place in your party’s districts in the first place, those districts are going to see a more rapid decline rate once the epidemic starts to fade. This isn’t exactly rocket science here, folks. The numbers are what they are, and to their credit, the liberals who run the Pew Center didn’t make much effort to cover for their fellow Democrats in this report.

That is all.
