These Democrat Riots Will End America’s Downtown Renaissance

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

The inevitable outcomes of this past week of rioting in the major, Democrat-controlled cities are very predictable. The abject refusal by Democrat mayors and governors to make any effort whatsoever to protect the citizens and small businesses from the excesses of Antifa- and BLM-led burning and pillaging will have consequences for those cities for decades to come.

The first two decades of the 21st century have seen a revival of the central cities in America, as the Baby Boomer flight to the suburbs has given way to a move back to downtown and mid-town areas by Gen-X, Gen-Y and Millennials wanting to avoid being trapped into a life of long commutes they watched their parents endure. Life in high-rise and mid-rise condominiums within walking distance of office and shopping centers has become the new norm for these younger generations of Americans, and hundreds of thousands of small businesses have sprung up on the ground floors of those condo buildings to serve them.

When I first lived in Houston in 1980, no one lived in the downtown area, and the thriving area called “mid-town” was a slum. You didn’t want to linger downtown past dark because it was too dangerous to be caught there. Most other large cities in America were in similar shape after all of the “white flight” to the suburbs that had taken place since the 1960s.

That all began to change in the mid-1990s, after mayors like Rudy Giuliani had taken charge of the security situations in those downtown areas and city governments and business leaders invested billions in urban renewal projects designed to make those areas attractive places to live. College graduates of all races, colors and creeds, having grown up watching their parents spend 2 to 3 hours a day in stop and go traffic saw the advantages of living a few blocks from work and seized the opportunities to do so.

From Seattle to Portland to San Diego to Phoenix to Denver to Dallas to Houston to Miami to Boston, and many points in between, downtown/mid-town neighborhoods that were basically hellholes 40 years ago were turned into great cultural melting pots of our society. It was a stunning success story of 21st century America. But then came Barack Obama and Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch and the policies of hands-off policing, policies that order the police to stand down and watch helplessly during riots as the bad actors vent their rage at the expense of residents and small businesses.

The last week is simply the inevitable result of those “progressive” policies.

Thousands of young-ish New Yorkers who moved to Soho because it was a cool place to be woke up Monday morning horrified by the reality that Bill de Blasio had allowed the neighborhood they had believed to be safe and secure to be looted and burned during the night. Thousands more New Yorkers are waking up to similar realities in other Manhattan and Brooklyn neighborhoods this morning. Residents and business owners in downtown and mid-town areas of Minneapolis and Chicago and Philadelphia have seen their lives and livelihoods destroyed by city leaders who couldn’t be bothered to do anything to stop all the mayhem. The vast majority of these people are loyal Democrats who thought the leaders they have repeatedly elected would protect them.

Silly them.

The worst thing about it is that that mayhem – the looting, the burning, the shattering of doors and windows – was largely committed by their neighbors, egged on by BLM and Antifa organizers from out of state.

If you are a young mother or father who has just seen half of the buildings surrounding your home vandalized, burned and looted by people who live just blocks away, how will you ever feel secure in that home again? If you are a small business owner who has just had your storefront windows shattered and your store looted while your city’s Democrat leaders sat safe in their mansions and did nothing, what will be your incentive for reopening? You may do it for awhile, try to get back on your feet while putting bars on your doors and windows, but how long can you last as you watch half of your customers flee back to the suburbs where they were raised by their commuting parents?

The Democrat mayors and inner-city councilmen won’t care, because the captive population left behind will only lean more strongly in their favor. Their lives of grifting in positions of political power will have been secured.

For the people left behind, life will become grim. Sadly, most of them will have no understanding of the fact that the re-created downtown/mid-town hellholes to come are the result of their own actions and voting habits.

Life’s a cycle, and when you just keep mindlessly voting for Democrats, you get what you ask for, whether you realize it or not.

That is all.

Larry Schweikart: Antifa’s Deadly Beauty

Guest Piece by America’s History Teacher, Larry Schweikart

About six months ago I suddenly realized that we had not heard from the fascist so-called “antifa” in a long time. I actually thought perhaps we had broken them, that their ineffectiveness previously had caused the movement to dissipate.

Boy was I wrong. Something quite different had been occurring. The fascist “antifa” had been mobilizing and sitting in their little commie-type sleeper cells awaiting a call for activation. No one, including George Soros—who either personally or through channels sent the “go” order—knew exactly what that instigating event would be. The point is, the fascist “antifa” was ready. They were trained to be in the streets within 24 hours, in multiple cities, en masse. There was a deadly beauty to the organizational skill involved in the “call up” of these quasi-military forces. And no doubt, more than a few of the snowflakes were sufficiently intimidated by the China Virus and obediently took to their masks as they sheltered in place.

But after a week, it is clear that there are two basic groups involved in these riots. The first are blacks who took the opportunity of George Floyd’s death to protest, loot, and burn. No one on the right—not one single person so far that I’ve seen—has called Floyd’s death anything less than a murder. No one has suggested anything be done with the killer cop than perpetual jail. (Proving premeditation would be nearly impossible here and hence there will not be a death penalty on the table, no matter what some of the whackos call for. In other words, the right is united that this was a case of police brutality.

In the case of Minneapolis, however, it appears that this policeman in particular has been given repeated passes on his over-the-top violence. And in 2017, Mohamed Noor, a Somalil cop in Minneapolis, shot and killed Justine Damond. Naturally, instead of endorsing the jail sentence for a murderer, the civil rights crowd complained Noor was treated differently from other officers who killed civilians. Noor shot the unarmed Damond as she approached the car. Minneapolis, in other words, has had a track record of excessive police force. Various photos show as many as three police on top of George Floyd with Derek Chauvin kneeling on the handcuffed Floyd’s neck as he lay face down. Whether Chauvin actually choked off Floyd’s air supply or merely contributed to his heart giving out will be a matter of debate by medical specialists.

What’s equally troubling is that one other person was filming the whole event; at least two other officers were helping Chauvin; and another officer was standing nearby. None intervened to simply place the man in the back of the police car. Such an incident should provoke a massive reaction, including a complete overhaul of the Minneapolis Police Department. What it should not have provoked were mobs burning and looting stores and taking over a MPD precinct station. In all cases, both the MPD and the mayor—and the snowflake governor who essentially encouraged the looters—the police should have immediately moved in to stop illegal activity.

But here comes the kicker: when they started arresting people, the police found out that some 40% of them were out-of-towners. Who could that possibly be? Fascist so-called antifa mobs. Video surfaced today of a white antifa goon instructing “protestors” where to go and what targets to hit.

We won’t even get into the reality that many of these (mostly) black-owned businesses that were looted or burned were still under the snowflake governor’s lockdown policies and were dying on the vine.

Make no mistake: this was a Soros-backed, fascist so-called “antifa”-led series of national mob riots with no connection whatsoever to George Floyd. Most of the mob rioters probably thought Floyd’s first name was “Pink.” This was a well-planned, orchestrated evil designed in the pit of George Soros’s hell to destabilize not just the USA, but also England and Canada (where “protest” of more Pink Floyd fans joined the rioting. Like some snakes, this operation was beautiful in its design and deadly in its venom.

Today President Donald Trump announced he would officially designate the fascist so-called “antifa” group a terrorist organization. Among other things, that means that not only the Department of Justice will now (we hope) prosecute it, but the Treasury and IRS can now become involved in tracking the terrorists’ finances that almost certainly lead to George Soros. This is a big deal. But . . .

How big depends entirely on the vigor with which Attorney General William Barr actually follows through. More important, it will require a significant buy-in from the leftist-leaning bureaucracies in the FBI, Treasury, and IRS. Whether an actual prosecution of the fascists called antifa is possible remains to be seen. Ironically, however, Trump’s designation of antifa as a terrorist organization means that so far Barack Obama has been largely responsible for the creation of two terrorist groups, ISIS and antifa. Now, if we can only get Black Lives Matter to be so designated . . . .

The Official Narrative on the Floyd Killing is Falling Apart

New video of the prelude to the killing of George Floyd by fired Minneapolis police officers emerged on Saturday, and it adds to the growing realization that the official narrative we’ve been fed about that murder simply no longer adds up.

The video shows the police officers involved in the killing working Floyd over in the backseat of their police vehicle, apparently softening him up before they dragged him out onto the street pavement where they finished the job in front of  a crowd that they had to know would capture the incident on their cell phones. Take a look at the second clip below:

In that clip, you can see one cop on the near side of the car scuffling with Floyd as Derek Chauvin – who was arrested and charged with 3rd degree murder on Friday – begins to pull him out on the far side of the vehicle.

So, how does this conflict with the official narrative? Well, to this point we have been told Floyd did not resist and that there was no reason for Chauvin to restrain him by pressing his knee on the back of his neck for more than 8 minutes, until Floyd died.

This video shows one of two possibilities here: Either Floyd was indeed resisting arrest, or he was being brutalized by the cops. One or the other has to be the case here. The first possibility would give the cops some mitigating arguments to the murder charge, though it certainly would not excuse them entirely. That is, unless the reason why Floyd was putting up a fight was because he realized he was about to be killed.

The second possibility raises the potential that this was indeed an act of premeditated murder.

We have no way of knowing which scenario is the correct one. But the long records of complaints and lawsuits brought against at least two of these cops, and the fact that Chauvin and Floyd had actually worked security at a local night club together for several years sure does add to the suspicion that this was not just some random act.

Think about it: The Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area has a population of roughly 3.6 million people. The thought that this high-profile killing involving two men who worked together and likely knew each other is mere coincidence strains credulity to the breaking point.

Up until now, the assumption has been that this killing was just the random spark that lit the flame to the series of national riots that the Democrats/Soros/BLM/Antifa crew were planning to launch this summer anyway. But with all of the odd facts now surrounding this killing, combined with the obviously-orchestrated nature of the riots, you have to wonder if Floyd’s murder was a random event at all.

I have made it a personal practice to stay away from talk about “false flags” that fly around social media in reaction to high-profile events such as this one. But boy, the official narrative around this particular high-profile event is beginning to fall completely apart.

No doubt, many will react by saying there is no way even the Democrats would resort to something so destructive to our national fabric. But ask yourself this: in 2016, would you have believed it if someone told you that the Democrats and the national news media were about to mount a four-year effort push the Russia hoax? Or that they would expand that hoax into an active coup d’etat effort on American soil? Or that, when all of that failed to work, they would hold the nation captive for five months with a completely made-up impeachment hoax? Or that Democrat governors and mayors would intentionally keep people out of work and kill thousands of businesses in their states and cities for no good reason simply to try to impact the November elections?

Sadly, with today’s Democrats and their corrupt media toadies, literally anything is possible.

Stay tuned.

That is all.

Larry Schweikart: From DemPanic to DemSaster

Guest Piece by America’s History Teacher, Larry Schweikart

Poor old Joe Biden (Demented Biteme, if you follow my Twitter nicknames at @larryschweikart). He already had a weak hand. Heck, he had a hand full of the Bicycle trademark cards it was so bad.

It just got worse.

Rioters (yes folks, it’s a riot when “protestors” burn buildings, hurt people, and chase police out of a precinct) in Minneapolis have now made Trump the “Law and Order” candidate while simultaneously giving him a platform to woo black voters even more. How does that work, you ask?

Trump had already sent the DOJ into the murder investigation of George Floyd before a single Auto Zone was torched. Indeed, not a single major conservative voice dissented from seeing Floyd’s murderer cop prosecuted. Rush Limbaugh called it mindless. “What policy is there anywhere that mandates that kind of treatment of a suspect or prisoner who is totally under control?” The cop simply killed the guy. “There’s no other way to describe what happened.”

President Trump likewise chimed in. “At my request, the FBI and the Department of Justice are already well into an investigation of the very sad and tragic death in Minnesota of George Floyd,” and he called for “this investigation to be expedited.” Believe me, if there is a determination that—as it seems—this was murder, Trump will make a White House announcement and look for Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, as well as numerous other black leaders, to be present when he does so.

But not only will it be impossible for anyone except from the insane Blind Lemon Don (Don Lemon) or PsychoJoe Scarborough to try to blame Trump, he will be rightly seen as attempting to right a wrong, while at the same time Trump appears to be the only one also supporting the (often black-owned) businesses that are being torched.

This has deep roots in all lawful citizens’ psyche (not just whites’). It is the “Law and Order” moment, akin to what drove large numbers of voters to vote for Richard Nixon in 1968. Perhaps they did not like Tricky Dick, but they knew that the anarchy and lawlessness exploding throughout the country had to end.

Trump now is in a position unimagined just six months ago of attracting not just more black voters than in 2016, but possibly a lot more. Already multiple polls had him swinging between 16% and 22% black approval. However, in all polls, there is a growing number of blacks who “don’t know” or “don’t care” who wins. I submit that most of these do know and care, but they don’t want to say they won’t be voting Democrat. Some 5-8% may stay home in 2020, while Trump will gain at least an additional 3% over his 2016 levels. This means the real black “vote” for Trump will be about 11% plus another 2-4% (i.e., half of the stay-at-home, which equals a half-vote for each candidate). That would put Trump in the 13%–15% range.

But that was before Minneapolis. Remember in 1932 blacks did not vote for Franklin Roosevelt. It took four years of winning them over. The same, I suspect, is true for Trump. The 2020 election may be his “1936″ moment.

Is there other evidence for this? Absolutely.

The most important evidence comes from the low numbers of blacks who support Demented Biteme. One poll had the number at 84%, another at only 74%!! Now, before you say, “Schweikart, that’s a lot,” remember that in 2016 Hillary Clinton lost carrying 88% of the black vote. Please tell me how Biden wins carrying between 4 and 14% less.

The most interesting thing about the impending DemSaster is that it seems inevitable. They can’t replace Demented Biteme. (If they could, you would never see polls showing Biteme defeating Trump. Quite the contrary, they would show him as weak, and needing to be replaced). No matter who Biteme picks as his veep candidate, he’s finished. How do I know this?

Because no one wants to be his veep, even though most suspect they would be elevated to the POTUS job before Demented Biteme could locate his teeth. Even with that, no one wants to be associated with a sure loser.

Meanwhile, the country is opening up, the economy even looks like may roar back. Americans’ savings levels were 33% higher in March, as I predicted. (With stores and entertainment closed, there was nothing to spend money on). Once unleashed, Americans are going to go on a buying spree.

The DemPanic is over. The DemSaster is about to begin.

Minneapolis Still Burning: The Riots Have Gone National *UPDATED*

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

UPDATE: At 7:00 a.m. CT, Fox News is now reporting that the President has ordered 1,700 National Guard troops to deploy to Minneapolis.

Boy, that curfew sure worked out, huh? – Despite an 8:00 “curfew” declared by feckless Democrat Gov. Tim Walz, Antifa/BLM agitators and thugs continued burning down Ilhan Omar’s congressional district in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area Friday night and well into Saturday morning.

The mass rioting seen on Wednesday and Thursday started right up again as darkness dawned Friday evening, just a few hours after CNN’s dimwit Chris Cillizza had published an “analysis” piece titled “The governor of Minnesota just showed what leadership in a crisis looks like.” Of course, Cillizza’s “analysis” was focused on the police arrest of CNN’s reporter and camera crew Thursday. Walz apologized for that action despite the fact that it was entirely justified after the CNN reporter had spent several minutes arguing with the cops and obstructing their sight lines during a violent emergency.

How are the police supposed to control anything when a despicable alarmist operation like CNN is having its crews intentionally get in the way so they can make the story about themselves, and with a Governor who is subservient to them? This isn’t ‘leadership,’ it’s surrender.

Last night, Gov. Walz whined that he just doesn’t have enough law enforcement officers on the job for them to begin making mass arrests. That provides President Trump with his window of opportunity to take over this situation, call in the National Guard, and clean up the mess made by Walz and pathetic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

Given that Minnesota’s mess is now spreading to other cities across the nation, today would be a very good time to take that action.

Frey and Walz, being leftist Democrats, want to continue treating these rioters as Democrats always do: As misbehaving children who are just acting out and need to be protected by the government. That is obviously not what is taking place here. The truth is, as many residents are now saying, that these cities have been invaded by paid Antifa and BLM thugs who are fomenting these riots and committing most of the violence and destruction.

America was right to react with utter outrage at the callous killing of George Floyd by those four police officers. Now it is time for America to be outraged at the ongoing mayhem being created by these thugs. They are a cancer on our society and they need to be cut out.

Frey and Walz are obviously completely helpless and useless. I am generally not in favor of federal intervention into local affairs, but this outbreak has now gone national. This city needs to be locked down, and only the federal government can get that done.

In that regard, the AP is reporting that the Pentagon has placed several military units on alert to possibly be deployed to Minneapolis:

The get-ready orders were sent verbally on Friday, after President Donald Trump asked Defense Secretary Mark Esper for military options to help quell the unrest in Minneapolis after protests descended into looting and arson in some parts of the city.

Trump made the request on a phone call from the Oval Office on Thursday night that included Esper, National Security Advisor Robert O’ Brien and several others. The president asked Esper for rapid deployment options if the Minneapolis protests continued to spiral out of control, according to one of the people, a senior Pentagon official who was on the call.

Youtube video thumbnail

”When the White House asks for options, someone opens the drawer and pulls them out so to speak.” the official said.

The person said the military units would be deployed under the Insurrection Act of 1807, which was last used in 1992 during the riots in Los Angeles that followed the Rodney King trial.

[End]

It is becoming obvious that the rumors that have been running around for several months of the Democrats planning to try to start a race war in our country this summer were accurate. All they were apparently waiting for was a touch point to set it off, and the killing of Mr. Floyd served that purpose.

Everyone needs to remember, as you watch all of the ugly scenes across the country, that both BLM and Antifa are domestic terror groups created and funded by the Democrat Party through dozens of George Soros-backed front groups. None of what you see happening on your TV screens is organic in nature. This is an entirely planned set of events designed to create chaos in our country leading up to a national election.

This is why you see reports like this one from Max Nesterak, a local journalist who has taken great personal risk to report these events in real time:

Who do you think those “white outsiders” are? Remember that Antifa is made up mainly of white, middle-to-upper-class Millennials who live in their grandmothers’ basements.

You were all outraged this week by the video of the callous killing of George Floyd. Now it is time for you all to be outraged at the Democrat front groups who are causing all of this mayhem and destruction in the name of politics.

At Long Last, Minnesota Officials Arrest Derek Chauvin

The Mid-Day Campaign Update

Two days too late, news broke late this morning that Minnesota officials finally decided to arrest Derek Chauvin, the dirty cop who killed George Floyd earlier this week. Had the arrest been made on Wednesday, many Minneapolis/St. Paul businesses that have been burned in the meantime might still be open for business.

Meanwhile, we’ve had all sorts of stuff come up this morning to talk about:

  • Floyd and Chauvin actually worked security together at a night club for several years, according to multiple media reports quoting the club’s owner;
  • The Minneapolis Police Department admits that Chauvin had had no fewer than EIGHTEEN prior complaints filed against him during the course of his career. Only two of those complaints resulted in any disciplinary action;
  • Another officer who stood around at the scene without trying to restrain Chauvin as he killed Floyd, Tou Thao, has had six complaints filed against him. Thao was also the subject of an excessive force lawsuit that the City settled out of court in 2017:

The lawsuit was brought by Lamar Ferguson, who claimed in the suit that Thao and another officer subjected him to “cruel and unusual” punishment when they arrested him in October 2014. According to the lawsuit, the officers used “unreasonable force,” including “punches, kicks and knees to the face and body while Ferguson was defenseless and handcuffed.” As a result, Ferguson suffered broken teeth, bruising and trauma, the lawsuit says. The city would go on to pay Ferguson and his attorney $25,000 to settle the lawsuit on December 11, 2017.

  • Meanwhile, as all hell was continuing to rain down around him, feckless Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was trying to change the subject:

Yes, because the arrest of a reporter who had spent several minutes arguing with police in an emergency situation while blocking their sight lines is what we want state officials to be focused on here.

  • But hey, that pales in comparison to pathetic radical leftist Mayor Jacob Frey, whose focus was on whether or not protesters were wearing their masks and practicing social distancing:

Minneapolis Mayor to Rioters: Please Practice Social Distancing, Wear Masks

Protesters throw objects onto a burning car outside a Target store near the Third Police Precinct on May 28, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during a demonstration over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, who died after a police officer kneeled on his neck for several minutes. - …

You seriously cannot make this stuff up, folks.

The fact that Chauvin and Floyd worked at the same establishment over the course of several years indicates that we have much more to learn about what motivated Chauvin in this situation. Something else that we do not yet know about is at play here.

But, if it is left up to Minnesota officials to discover what that is, we will probably never find out about it.

Elections have consequences, and what we see happening in Minnesota this week is the direct consequence of decades of Minnesota voters electing Democrats to high office.

Stop doing that, Minnesotans.

UPDATE: County Attorney Mike Freeman just told the press that the four-day span from the time of the killing to the time of Chauvin’s arrest was the fastest his office has ever moved to arrest a police officer. That fact, in and of itself, is an indication of a huge problem. Because anyone else who had done what Chauvin did would have been arrested on the spot and charged with murder. But if, as Freeman now contends, his office has to jump through four days of hoops before taking action while the damn city burns, that is a real, true problem that must be fixed.

That is all.

Minneapolis Burning: A Leadership Vacuum Leaves the Activists Fully In Charge

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Minnesota’s still burning, and it is no surprise. – Yesterday at around 5:00 CT, I gazed and listened in wonder at what can only be described as the single least effective law enforcement press conference ever to appear on national television. Here’s what I posted on Facebook as the presser concluded:

I don’t know if any of y’all are watching this press conference in Minneapolis right now, but these FBI/Minnesota law enforcement people are only making this situation worse. There will definitely be more rioting in that city tonight. This is the least effective law enforcement presser I have ever witnessed.

[End]

Participants in this presser included the local U.S. Attorney, Erica McDonald; the local FBI special agent in charge (SAC), whose name I did not get; an official with the Minnesota Bureau of Apprehension; and Mike Freeman, the local County Attorney. These folks had two objectives to achieve at this press conference: 1) to provide assurance that the investigation into the police killing of George Floyd was in competent hands and was proceeding quickly; and 2) to reassure the angry public that has been burning the city since Wednesday that justice will be swift and sure.

Unfortunately, neither goal was accomplished. Not remotely. And so we saw these scenes overnight:

It is complete chaos. No fewer than three police precinct stations have been burned.

Only Ms. McDonald delivered any messages that were remotely reassuring, and her role in all of this is purely secondary even though she led the conference. This was a murder, which is a state and local crime; the feds are only there to investigate civil rights violations and other potential federal crimes.

Instead of being reassured that justice will be done, the mostly-Black rioters were treated to a parade of pasty-white Minnesotans standing before the cameras, all saying they need more time, and all making excuses for why the four bad cops responsible for the killing are not already in jail and charged with a major crime. County Attorney Freeman even went so far as to outrageously state that he has “evidence” that no crime was committed despite the fact that the entire incident was unambiguously caught on video that everyone not living in a cave has now witnessed.

To be clear: Nothing these officials said would have had any effect on the Antifa and Black Lives Matters agitators who are being paid by Democrat funders to inflame the situation. Nothing would placate the radical Islamist activists who live in Ilhan Omar’s district – where much of the rioting is taking place – who are using this situation as an excuse to create havoc in their own community.

Remember, Minnesota is a state that elected this guy to be its Attorney General:

Image

But these activists can’t succeed unless the public at large is already angry, and the participants in last night’s press conference only made them angrier. As Trey Gowdy told Fox News Host Martha MacAllum, there is no good reason why those police officers have not already been arrested and charged. If they weren’t cops, they certainly would have been.

That is up to County Attorney Freeman and the state’s Bureau of Apprehension. Those folks had better get moving, because this situation is only going to continue to get worse until they do.

And this crap doesn’t help. – I’ll defend President Donald Trump until my fingers bleed and there is nothing that could make me pull a lever for a Democrat in November, but tweets like this one are not in any way advisable or helpful:

Image

That was all fine until the sloganeering about looting and shooting. How ridiculous and sad that he chose to do that on the very same day that he signed his well-grounded executive order denying Twitter and other big social media platforms liability protections under the Communications Decency Act.

With radical Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey a worthless emotional wreck and governor Tim Walz having zero clue about what to do here,  the rioters and the activists urging them on are fully in charge of a major American city.

This is what George Soros’s America looks like. Get a good look at it.

P.S.: The only good thing that happened last night was that a CNN reporter and camera crew were arrested when they refused to move when ordered by the police:
