Tuesday News Roundup: Kyrsten Sinema Might Save the Republic; NYTimes Goes Low on Pipelines

Fun Energy Fact of the Day. – Amy Harder at Axios reported yesterday that “Oil, natural gas and coal accounted for 81% of the world’s energy consumption in 1990. Thirty years later — in 2020 — that figure dropped to 80%, mainly because of the pandemic, according to the International Energy Agency.”

Remember also that that unchanged percentage comes after many trillions of dollars have been invested in capital and subsidies for wind and solar development globally.

Axios didn’t report this, but it is a reality that, 30 years from now, in 2050, most truly scholarly projections on global energy consumption see that percentage remaining largely unchanged. Though wind, solar and other alternative energy sources will continue to be subsidized with more and more trillions, they won’t be scalable enough to account for just the growth in energy demand over the next 30 years, much less start to displace the role fossil fuels and nuclear will continue to play in the world’s energy supply.

That’s reality. What you see in the corrupt news media and coming from politicians and the Global Church of Climate Change every day is fantasy.

This concludes your Fun Energy Fact of the Day.

Why bother cancelling the Keystone XL Pipeline when you can just blow it up? – That’s the question recently advocated by The New York Times. Not kidding.

To advance that idea, the Times recently provided its readers with a glowing review of a book titled “HOW TO BLOW UP A PIPELINE” by someone named Andreas Malm. I swear I do not make this stuff – who could?

Here’s an excerpt from that book review:

“To say that the signals have fallen on the deaf ears of the ruling classes of this world would be an understatement. If these classes ever had any senses, they have lost them all,” writes Malm, a Swedish professor of human ecology and climate change activist, in his compelling but frustrating treatise.

A proportionate and rational response, Malm argues, should be to target fossil fuel infrastructure: Destroy fences around a power plant; occupy pipeline routes, as protesters did for the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines; at coal mines or similar sites, set up climate camps, which Malm believes are effective as laboratories for activism and for shutting things down by putting bodies on the line.

He also advocates powerfully against despair and powerlessness. One of the most satisfying parts of his book comes when he brutally dispatches with “climate fatalists” like Jonathan Franzen, who argue that we should all just give up. “Climate fatalism is for those on top,” Malm writes. “Its sole contribution is spoilage.”

So Malm wants us to fight back (though I should add that there aren’t any actual instructions here about how to blow anything up).

[End]

Don’t blow me up, folks, I’m just the messenger.

Every time you get to thinking our corrupt, Nazi-style news media could not possibly get any worse than it already is, they go and prove you wrong.

Democrat definition of “Unity”: “You shut up and conform to my way of thinking.”

*sigh*

In Texas, this is what we call a smelly fresh load of horse manure:

Speaking of things you just could not ever make up if it wasn’t already reality… – Check this out:

That’s right: Anthony Fauci, the little menace to American society who has outright admitted to repeatedly lying to the American people in order to manipulate their behavior and government policy throughout this COVID-19 pandemic, is in fact the single most highly-compensated employee of the federal government.

From the story at JustTheNews.com:

Germs pay.

Dr. Anthony Fauci made $417,608 in 2019, according to Open the Books, a government watchdog group.

The annual salary for Fauci, director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease, makes the highest paid doctor in the federal government and the highest paid out of all 4 million federal employees,” Forbes reported.

In fact, Fauci’s salary is more than the president of the United States’ annual $400,000 pay.

Fauci, now President Biden’s chief medical adviser, will make $2.5 million if he keeps his government job through 2024, which marks the end of the administration’s first term. The projected income does not factor in raises.

Forbes also reports Fauci made $3.6 million from 2010 to 2019. Since 2014, His pay increased from $335,000 to the current $417,608.

[End]

Holy crap.

Can Kyrsten Sinema save the Republic? – I know that sounds like just the most absurd question you’ve ever seen posed in your entire life, but bear with me here.

As we all know, one of the main goals of the radical left that forms the vast majority of the Democrat voter base now is to eliminate the senate filibuster, a move they consider to be the key facilitator to allow the passage of their full Marxist/fascist agenda into law. With a 50/50 split in Senate membership, the end of the filibuster would mean that Kamala Harris could provide the tie-breaking votes on all manner of radical legislation designed to destroy the very fabric of our nation and turn it into the collective utopia the deranged nitwits on the left have always dreamed of.

Flaccid West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin has already said he does not support ending the filibuster, but we have seen so many times that he holds no firm positions that Chuck Schumer cannot bully him into changing. Besides, a single Democrat dissenter can easily be offset by a RINO tag-team consisting of Mitt Romney, Susan Collins or Lisa Murkowski on any given issue. Thus, Manchin’s tenuous posturing becomes essentially meaningless.

But yesterday, Manchin got himself a dancing partner in the Senior Senator from Arizona, Sen. Sinema. When the hacks at the Washington Post inquired about the Senator’s position on the filibuster, her spokesperson firmly replied “Kyrsten is against eliminating the filibuster, and she is not open to changing her mind about eliminating the filibuster.”

From a story at The Daily Caller:

Democratic Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema will not support eliminating the filibuster and her mind cannot be changed, according to a spokesperson.

As Democrats now control the House, Senate and White House, there has been discussion about possibly voting to eliminate the filibuster. Abolishing the filibuster would allow any legislation to pass with a simple majority. With Sinema coming out against abolishing the filibuster, it makes it highly unlikely it could happen, as Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin has also said he will not vote to do so.

“Kyrsten is against eliminating the filibuster, and she is not open to changing her mind about eliminating the filibuster,” a spokesperson for Sinema told the Washington Post on Monday.

[End]

Now, pessimists will no doubt contend that Sinema’s a Democrat, and all Democrat politicians are inveterate liars, a contention this is manifestly true. Democrat politicians have no choice but to lie on most issues since their positions on them have zero basis in truth, data or reality.

But Senator Sinema repeatedly proven to be a different kind of Democrat to some extent, and has become a sort of Tulsi Gabbard of the Senate, a leftwing Democrat who actually still loves the country and holds respect for its institutions, the rarest of rare animals in Washington, DC.

Who knows if Sinema will hold firm on her stance in the face will no doubt be a campaign of threats and intimidation to come from Chuck Schumer and the party’s lunatic leftist base. But this one bears watching and if she does continue to resist pressure, having support from a colleague might help Manchin grow a bit of a spine on the matter as well.

All we can do is hope.

That is all.

Why the Senate Should Confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett This Week

“I clerked for Justice Scalia more than 20 years ago, and the lessons I learned still resonate. His judicial philosophy is mine, too. A judge must apply the law as written. Judges are not policymakers, and they must be resolute in setting aside any policy views they might hold…I love the United States, and I love the United States Constitution.” – Judge Amy Coney Barrett yesterday.

That 100 word statement describes in a nutshell why Democrats and their America-hating toadies in the corrupt news media hate Judge Amy Coney Barrett and will do anything they can come up with to smear and slander her. The Constitution, and a strict interpretation of its actual words, has been anathema to the Democrat Party since Woodrow Wilson was elected in 1912. It is in fact a bane on that Party’s very existence.

With Senate Democrats lining up to announce they will not only oppose her nomination, but that they will also refuse to even meet with her when she makes the traditional courtesy visits to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and other key senators, Lindsey Graham announced on Saturday that his committee hearings on Judge Barrett’s nomination will start on October 12. If Graham is saying that publicly, then that means he has the sign-off from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to proceed with those hearings.

My only question is, why? Why are Senate Republicans agreeing to hold committee hearings at all on a nomination whose ultimate outcome is a fait accompli? No Democrat will support Barrett’s confirmation. Joe Manchin will make noises about doing that, but he will ultimately allow Chuck Schumer to bully him one more time into marching along with the rest of the Democrat Senate fascists, because that is what Joe Manchin does.

Meanwhile, with Lisa Murkowski now coming around in the face of a primary threat from Sara Palin, only one Republican Senator, Susan Collins (of course), is even implying she might not support Barrett’s confirmation before Election Day. Mitt Romney may ultimately fink out and cast his wormy lot with the Democrats just as he did in their impeachment scam, but that won’t be enough.

Mitch McConnell has the votes to confirm Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court on Monday. That would be the logical thing to do in this case since the Court convenes for its 2020-21 session on the first Monday in October, just 8 days from now. The goal of the U.S. Senate should always be that it acts as expeditiously as possible to ensure the Court always has its full compliment of 9 justices.

But what about the vetting process? Good lord, Judge Barrett was confirmed to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals just three years ago, and was thoroughly vetted at that time. She even received the confirmation votes of 3 Democrats – along with every Senate Republican, including Collins and Murkowski (Romney was not in the Senate in 2017) – for that high profile appointment. There is literally no valid reason at all for the Judiciary Committee to go through that process all over again.

The Democrats desperately want these hearings for the sole reason that they would then be able to create the same sort of character assassination circus that they did with Brett Kavanaugh and, to a slightly lesser extent, Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s first two nominees. McConnell has exactly zero obligation or duty to provide the Democrats that platform.

Many Republicans argue that the creation of another confirmation hearing slander circus would be bad for the Democrats politically, and that’s probably true. But this is a woman’s life we are talking about here. Politics should not be the main consideration. Judge Barrett is a wife and mother of 7 children, children who should not be subjected to the kind of abuse and smearing the Democrats and their activists will throw at them and their mother in the lead-up to and conduct of such hearings.

Judge Barrett is an extremely well-qualified jurist who has led an exemplary American life. There are no valid arguments to make otherwise. She also has already very recently been vetted and confirmed to a seat on a U.S. Appellate Court by the U.S. Senate.

The Judiciary Committee hearing should be cancelled. Judge Barrett should be confirmed this week and seated on the Court when it convenes on the First Monday in October.

That is all.

8 Bits of Intrigue to Look for in Tonight’s State of the Union Event

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Hey, that whole “climate change” scam isn’t working for us, so here’s an idea – let’s use new talking points! –  The grand global climate scam has been running out of steam over the last two years since Donald Trump assumed the presidency and more and more Americans wake up to the reality that they have been heinously deceived by the Al Gores and Leonardo DiCaprios of the world.

So what are the scammers to do? After three solid decades of seeing them simply ramp up the shrillness of their alarmist rhetoric every time their movement began to lose momentum, the alarmists who now run the American Meteorological Society have decided to take a new tack: Tone things down and and become less shrill and more subtle with their brainwashing instead.

Don’t misunderstand – it will be the same old stuff, with every tropical storm described as being completely unprecedented, with every wildfire declared to be a sign of “permanent drought”, giving scary names to every significant cold front and with every thunderstorm pronounced to be the “strongest on record.” But they’ll be calmer about it all, and the plan is to stop blaming your SUV for everything – because pretty much nobody is buying that anyway – and begin instead to connect it all directly to advocacy for … wait for it… leftist government policies!

I swear I don’t make this stuff up:

“Is it humans or is it not? We really need to get beyond that,” Bernadette Woods Placky, an Emmy award-winning meteorologist who directs the Climate Matters program at Climate Central, told me. Climate Matters is tracking climate trends in 244 cities—including a steadily warming Phoenix. “We are still not getting enough people to talk about it in the ways that matter to human beings in their homes, in their communities, for their family,” she added. “So it is making those connections in ways that really matter to people. It’s a jobs story. It’s an agriculture story. Connect it to the farm bill; boom!”

Boom, indeed. This new scam plan will last about 3 months or until Al Gore puts together another slide show, whichever comes first. Then it will all go back to the traditional alarmist hype, because that is the literal dogma of the Global Church of Climate Change, of which Mr. Gore is the reigning Pope.

The State of the Union address is tonight – here are eight key things to look for that the media isn’t talking about this morning:

  • Will Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee have her customary seat on the aisle so she can get her face on television? – Is the Pope Catholic (ok, that’s an open question)? Does a wild bear poop in the woods? It is a very safe bet that she is already ensconced in her favorite seat as I post this piece up around 7:00 Central Time this morning. There she will sit all day long, forcing staffers to bring her food and sit in for her when she takes bathroom breaks, in her annual effort to show her constituents how important she is. It is possibly the most pathetic tradition in the DC Swamp.
  • Will Ruth Bader Ginsburg give the nation proof of life? – Don’t count on it. And don’t count on any of the news fakers at CNN, MSNBC or the three “major” broadcast networks to make any mention of her absence.
  • Will San Fran Nan have that gerbil running around in her mouth again this year? – Ok, it was probably just a poorly-fitting bridge, but Nancy Pelosi spent the entirety of Trump’s speech last year looking for all the world like she was chasing some sort of living being around in her mouth with her tongue. She’ll be seated behind the President at the podium this time, so the camera will be on her all night long. Hopefully she’s had a trip to the orthodontist since then, because it was not a pretty spectacle.

  • Will West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin have to get Chuck Schumer’s permission on when to stand and applaud this year? – He did last year, and was famously caught on camera quickly sitting down after Schumer gave him a dirty look.  Pathetic.
  • Will Democrat freshmen stage some sort of a disruption? – Don’t be surprised if freshmen Democrats, led by communist Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Muslim extremists Ilhan Omar and Rhashida Tlaib, stage some sort of disruption during the speech. It would be in keeping with their distinct lack of character.
  • Will any white man from the Virginia Democrat delegation show up in blackface or KKK robes? – After this last week, it’s a perfectly valid question.
  • Will the President call Democrats out for their ongoing advocacy of killing live-born babies? – He certainly should, and he should do it in the most unambiguous language possible.
  • Will the President call the fake news media out for its ongoing protection of the blatant racist, infanticide-supporting Governor of Virginia? – Assuming Ralph Northam has still not resigned by the time President Trump takes the podium tonight, how could he not?

There you have them – eight points of intrigue to keep your sharp eyes out for during this year’s rendition of the most tedious and tiresome bit of Kabuki Theater the DC Swamp rolls out to entertain the masses each year. I still wish the President had decided to go deliver this thing out in Pittsburgh, St. Louis or the Rio Grande Valley last week, but hey, it is what it is, so let’s all make the best of it.

That is all.

The Democrat Meltdown Over the Supreme Court Vacancy Gets Off to a Rollicking Start

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Tired of all this Winning yet? Part I – With Justice Anthony Kennedy announcing his long-anticipated retirement from Supreme Court on Wednesday, it was just like Election Night 2016 over at CNN.  Check out these looooooooonnnnnng faces:

Just charming, aren’t they?

Tired of all this Winning yet?  Part II – Oh, but it got even better over on Twitter (because liberal outrage and angst is always better on Twitter), with SJWs and snowflakes wailing out their innermost feelings in 280 characters or less.  Here are a couple of examples:

And this:

Yes, because this 81 year-old man had an obligation to keep working to make sure helpless snowflakes like Molly Knight wouldn’t have meltdowns on Twitter.  My goodness.

There were many  more examples of liberal depravity and dementia in the wake of Kennedy’s announcement, but they pretty much all involve the “F” word or explicit references to male and female body parts, so I won’t quote them here.

Note that Ms. Knight is already promising riots over this change in a single Supreme Court justice.  She was far from alone.  Former Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards (Md.) told the execrable Nicole Wallace on MSNBC that “It’s time for Democrats to throw down, and what I mean by that is we’ve been playing by the rule book, and Donald Trump and Republicans have been playing by street rules,” Edwards said. “We need to play by street rules.”

Oh, hey, everyone, what we’ve been seeing from the lunatic Democrats the last 20 months is them “playing by the rule book.”  Of course, Ms. Edwards left out that it’s the Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals rulebook, but I’m sure she just ran out of time.

Then there’s Angela Rye, who is some sort of “analyst” for last-place CNN.  Her advice to Democrats went like this:  “They have to raise hell,” Rye said. “I said it kind of—whatever, but I mean, like, seriously. This is a decision that doesn’t just impact our lives next year or the next two years.”  Man, is that some serious analysis, or what?

Not to be outdone, alleged serial woman harasser Chris Matthews (how does this guy still have his job?) told his audience that the nomination fight over Kennedy’s vacant seat is a “time for vengeance” for Democrats. See?  This is the Democrats and their fake media guardians, playing by that “rule book.”

While the Democrats were actually relieved that Kennedy’s announcement now gives them an excuse to quit talking about the fake “don’t separate the families!” border issue that is killing them in the polls, the truth is that the politics of this situation are equally horrible for them, really as bad as they could possibly be.  Even though craven RINOs like Susan Collins and Jeff Flake are already scurrying out of the woodwork promising to use the nominating process to satisfy personal grudges with President Trump, the fact of the matter is that the Democrats don’t control a single lever of power in this process – they have no means whatsoever of stopping it.

For that, they have their own ex-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to thank, because it was Reid who decided to go down the road of eliminating the filibuster rule on judicial nominations.  Too bad, so sad, as my kids used to say.

To make matters even worse, the Democrats in this mid-term election year have at minimum 8 incumbent senators from states won by Donald Trump in 2016 who are in serious jeopardy of losing their bids to retain their seats.  The vote on Kennedy’s replacement will in all likelihood come at some point in October, bare weeks before Election Day.

Think of the fix in which this places Democrat senators like North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp, Montana’s Jon Tester, Missouri’s Claire McCaskill, Florida’s Bill Nelson, and West Virginia’s Joe Manchin.  They and other vulnerable Dems are going to be placed under severe pressure by the Party’s far-left voter base and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to march in lockstep (because marching in lockstep is what good little fascists are best at) with the rest of the Democrat senators in opposing any nominee.  But for many of these folks, doing that will be fatal, assuming President Trump puts forward another nominee of similar character and quality as Neil Gorsuch.

Trust me, Trump’s nominee has to be someone who is completely impeccable of character and whose record of public service is unassailable in any honest way.  The Democrats will go to extreme lengths to “Bork” him or her by portraying them as “too extreme” to assume a seat on the highest court.  Failing that, they will then subject the nominee to the Clarence Thomas strategy, so expect a parade of people coming forward to hurl false accusations of harassment or some other form of bad behavior in an effort to execute what then-nominee Thomas called “a high-tech lynching.”  Because this is what the Democrats and their media guardians do.

One thing we can all be absolutely certain of is this:  President Donald Trump (I never tire of typing those three words) will put forward a stellar, high-character, strict constructionist nominee to fill this vacancy.  He will do that because that is what he promised to do in his campaign, and this man, like no president before him, keeps his promises to the American people.

Just another day in Donald Trump keeping his promises to America.

That is all.

Elon Musk Is A Very Creative Crony Capitalist

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Elon Musk is a very creative guy.  We all know it, and often admire it.  He’s the guy who’s going to colonize Mars, the guy who’s going to roof your house with solar shingles and pave highways with solar pavers.  He’s also the guy who is now bringing us the Tesla 3 electric motor car, his new, more compact and sporty model for which he claims to have already received 500,000 orders.  It’s all so wonderful, and his giant PR operation issues about 27 press releases a week bragging about his every move.  Well, ok, not quite every move.
  • Here’s what Elon Musk’s thousands of PR agents never brag about:  None of his very creative ideas work without very heavy government subsidies.  The fact is that his various ventures in the United States alone have already brought him more than $5 billion in government subsidies, a legacy of the crony capitalism in which the Obama Administration was so heavily engaged.  That amounts to about half of Musk’s personal net worth, and those subsidies are the only reason his car company has been able to eke out “profits” in just 2 quarters during its entire existence.  Indeed, buyers of Teslas in the U.S. receive a big subsidy check from the federal government – the subsidy for the new Tesla 3 is $7500 – and also received state subsidies from taxpayers in many states.  California’s state subsidy (because of course California has a taxpayer subsidy for this stuff) is $2500, meaning that preening celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio can make themselves feel better by buying a Tesla, and enjoy a gift of a total of $10 grand from middle class America.  Cool, right?
  • Musk is facing a growing backlash over all his very creative rent-seeking endeavors, but the simple fact is he has to have the subsidies to remain in business.  For proof of that assertion, all one need do is observe Tesla’s experience in Hong Kong this year.  Tesla had sold thousands of cars the first three months of this year, when the Hong Kong government had a large subsidy in place, but when that subsidy was eliminated at the end of March, Tesla received a total of ZERO orders for its cars in Hong Kong during April.  No subsidies, no sales, and pretty soon, no company.
  • So, if you are so inclined, go out and get your Tesla soon, while the subsidies are in existence and the company is still in business.  But don’t buy one in Texas – Texas offers EV subsidies through auto dealerships, but no subsidies for the factory-direct Tesla, which does not do dealerships.  Go to California and make the taxpayers there foot part of the bill for your awesome new car.  They’ll enjoy it – they’re used to being screwed by their state’s government.
  • Sen. Manchin thinks he’s the Honey Badger.  Honey Badger don’t give a s–t, either. – Ok, West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin has now gone full nitwit.  He’s obviously been given the party’s polling data indicating that Democrats can now cuss their way to re-election, data that has led Senators like Kirstin Gillebrand and Al Franken, along with DNC Chairman Tom Perez to go on cursing sprees all over the country in recent months.  Here’s what Manchin said in an interview with the Charleston Gazette:  “I don’t give a s–t, you understand? I just don’t give a s–t,” he said. “Don’t care if I get elected, don’t care if I get defeated, how about that. If they think because I’m up for election, that I can be wrangled into voting for s–t that I don’t like and can’t explain, they’re all crazy.”  Democrats really do believe this is an effective strategy to attract votes from Millenials.  I suspect, though, that Millenials don’t give a s–t about it.  Just a guess.

Just another day in don’t give a s–t America.

That is all.
