The Evening Wrap: So Much WINNING, Bad Polls for Dems and the Sad Truth About the Generals

Tired of all this WINNING yet? – In response to today’s incredible May jobs report, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rocketed up by more than 800 points, closing above 27,000 for the first time since March. The Dow has now regained almost 85% of its initial losses suffered due to the insane response to the Wuhan Virus.

Meanwhile, the NASDAQ gained almost 200 points, closing at 9,814, a new all-time high.

It’s key to remember that May’s jobs gains were achieved despite the fact that two of the nation’s three largest state economies – California and New York – remain mostly shut-down. Those two states, along with New Jersey, Michigan and Illinois, other Democrat dominated states that remain mostly closed, represented almost 40% of the national economy prior to the advent of COVID-19. If the Democrat governors of those states insist on maintaining their politically-motivated shutdowns into and through the summer, a good portion of that previous economic might will migrate to “free states” like Texas, Ohio and Florida.

While those of us in the free states would love to have the added economic might, the migrants who come with it need to leave their Democrat voting habits behind.

Because lies are all he has at his disposal. – Creepy Uncle Quid Pro Farty China Joe Biden, responding to today’s fantastic jobs report, told an audience that Hispanic unemployment had shot up to 37%. In reality, the rate among Hispanics dropped to 17.6%. But who’s counting, right?

Golly, who do you think might have done this (Antifa, BLM)? – A 600,000 square foot Amazon warehouse went up in flames today in Redlands, California. So, a whole bunch of cheap crap made in China is no longer for sale.

Polls? What polls? – The latest Rasmussen survey finds that Black support for President Donald Trump has rocketed up to 40% as millions of African Americans have seen their neighborhoods looted, vandalized and burned by “peaceful protesters.” Funny how that works.

Meanwhile, a new YouGov poll finds that just 16% of those surveyed support the whole “defund the police” movement now being pushed by Democrat radicals in Minneapolis, Los Angeles and other big cities. From a piece in the California Globe:

Earlier this week, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced he was cutting $150 million from the police department budget and would give it to communities of color instead,” California Globe reported. Across the country, Democrats are calling for police departments to be abolished entirely or defunded.

Garcetti, who was photographed taking a knee in with black leaders, even said he will put a moratorium on adding names of people into the CalGang database.

Garcetti’s handlers and pollsters may want to reconsider. A YouGov poll found “despite calls by activists and protesters to defund police departments, most Americans do not support reducing law enforcement budgets. Close to two-thirds (65%) oppose cutting police force funding. Just 16 percent of Democrats and 15 percent of Republicans support that idea.”

The poll was conducted from May 29 – 30, George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer, but before the worst of the rioting in America’s big cities.

The poll also found strong bipartisan support for more training for police officers on how to de-escalate conflicts and avoid using force: 94% support among Democrats; 83% support among Republicans. A similar number of Democrats (91%) and Republicans (82%) support outfitting all police officers with body cameras.

[End]

Oh.

In related news, the loudmouths on the Minneapolis city council who were spouting off about de-funding the police on Twitter and in press conferences yesterday suddenly backed off, and were set to consider limited measures that would ban the police using choke holds and require by-standing officers to step in to stop fellow officers they see using excessive force. Those are common-sense measures that most Americans actually support.

As always, we see Democrats making every decision they make based on polling data. It’s pathetic, really.

If you want to understand the real reason why these retired generals and admirals dislike and fear President Trump, first understand that they pretty much all sit on boards of big defense contractors and are becoming fabulously wealthy doing that and writing books, like the one General James Mattis is hawking right now.

Now, consider the fact that today, President Trump announced that he will be pulling 9,500 U.S. troops out of Germany and bringing them back home, just the latest step in his ongoing campaign to end such senseless and unnecessary wastes of billions of defense dollars all over the globe. We have had thousands of troops stationed in Eastern Europe since the end of WWII, ostensibly to protect Germany and other countries from an invasion by the Soviet Union, a country that hasn’t existed for 30 years.

Germany is a wealthy, industrialized country that is fully capable of paying for its own defense, and should be required to do so. But the military/industrial complex that Dwight Eisenhower warned us about as he left office in 1960 continues to lobby hard to keep us spending hundreds of billions annually on these foolish endeavors.

Trump’s America first policies are not, as Mattis dishonestly contends, any threat to U.S. national security, but they are a threat to his and many other retired generals’ and admirals’ efforts to cash in at the ends of their careers.

I don’t at all like saying that about these men who have served this country for many years, but it’s the truth, and a damn sad one.

That is all.

Thursday News Roundup: Drama Queen Generals, Northam Virtue Signals, and a Circular Commie Firing Squad

How did the U.S. military get overrun by leftists? – That’s the open question today after former Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis outed himself in a histrionic anti-Trump opinion piece in the leftist rage The Atlantic. Mattis becomes just the latest in a long line of generals and admirals who have shown themselves to be dogmatic leftists over the past decade.

Much of this leftist takeover of the military upper echelons can of course be laid at the feet of Barack Obama – who also reared his annoying head yesterday – but not all of it can. Because guys like Mattis and John Kelly and H.R. McMaster and William McRaven had moved into high positions well before Obama was even elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006.

If you still doubt Mattis’s true political leanings, Lara Logan reminds us in a series of tweets about his odd behavior during the Trump Transition in 2016/early 2017:

She continues:

They were shocked by who Mattis wanted as his number 2 – he was pushing for Michelle Flournoy, the same person HRC had reportedly picked to lead DOD in her Administration, acc to sources/articles at the time, such as one Politico published in Nov 2016. They put it this way:

“THE NEXT ADMINISTRATION – HILLARY CLINTON’S HISTORY-MAKING DEFENSE SECRETARY IN WAITING”. Always wondered why Mattis would want someone like that at his side? Seems unlikely she would have been loyal to the President she would have served – was he?

Men like him knew Gen Mike Flynn was loyal to the US not Russia, yet they said nothing? As Sec Def, Mattis would have had access to all intelligence. What happened to that military code of honor in Flynn’s case? What about his Commander-in-Chief? He was silent then – but not now.

[End]

Oh.

And hey, Mattis just happens to be hawking a new book. So he’s not just a leftist, he’s a shameless self-promoting hack as well.

Good lord.

Then there is the case of current Defense Secretary Mark Esper, who went out of his way to politically undermine his Commander in Chief at a press conference on Wednesday, even as he claimed in his next breath to be non-political. Esper’s position on using the U.S. military, beyond the National Guard, to quell the rioting is certainly not unreasonable:

“The option to use active duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort, and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now. I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act,” he told reporters.

That’s fine, and it’s an opinion shared by many. But there is a chain of command in place in our armed services that must be respected if they are to be effective fighting forces. Esper’s public remarks were decidedly political in nature and may well conflict with those of the President. That is not his role, and it was an act of insubordination. It was a purely political act, one that put the lie to Esper’s claims of being non-political and undermined his own credibility and authority.

President Trump should not tolerate it and ought to be looking for a new SecDef.

Then Esper can go write a book of his own.

Speaking of dogma… – Did you know you’re a racist if you go out and try to clean up your community after a violent riot? That’s what these three ladies discovered the hard way:

Yore attenshun puh-lease good citizens! Tha Raght Honorable Guvnah of tha Commonwealth a’ Virginia, Ralph Coonman Northam, is a-gonna do some virtue signalin’! – Ralph Northam, the racist, baby-killing fascist Democrat who still has his state in a lockdown, is going to make a grand virtue-signaling gesture this morning at a press conference in which he will announce he is removing a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.

It’s his version of taking a knee.

These are not good odds. – At least 7 black people have now been killed during riots that have taken place in response to a single black person. Never forget that these riots have been organized and executed by the Democrat support groups Antifa and Black Lives Matter, and facilitated by Democrat mayors.

And now to leave you with some good news! The communist Bernie Sanders supporters have formed a circular firing squad! – Ok, it’s just on Twitter, but still, it’s always a good thing for America when the commies are fighting among themselves.

From a report at Politico:

“The left circular firing squad never rests and never misses a beat squandering an opportunity to get its head out of its ass to actually organize people outside of the cult,” said Jonathan Tasini, the author of “The Essential Bernie Sanders and His Vision for America” and a national surrogate for Sanders in 2016. “I just find it sad and head-shaking that this kind of crossfire is coming out now when the progressive movement has the opportunity to talk to millions of people.”

The skirmish began when David Sirota, Sanders’ former speechwriter, took a shot at the policy task forces that Sanders and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden created in hopes of healing party rifts. Ex-campaign manager FaizShakir and Analilia Mejia, Sanders’ former national political director, have been in talks about the endeavor with top Biden advisers Anita Dunn — who is loathed by some progressives for previously consulting with disgracedHollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein about a New York Times investigation — and Ron Klain.

“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but many of us don’t want to hear career Beltway political operatives boasting about task forces while this shit is going on right now,” Sirota tweeted. “Jfc — try to be a little less tone deaf.”

That prompted Mike Casca, Sanders’ current spokesman, to make an explosive charge shortly before 11 p.m. about a progressive newsletter Sirota currently runs, after managing a similar project on the 2020 campaign. The publication offers a paid annual subscription option at a cost of $50.

“[D]amn right,” Casca tweeted, “real change happens when you steal an email list from the campaign and use it to create your own paid newsletter. why can’t anyone see that? anyway, subscribe if you can.”

The sudden remarks exposed the deep frustration among senior Sanders staffers about some ex-aides’ second-guessing about the campaign’s mistakes. Along with Casca, Shakir hit back Tuesday at former Sanders aide Winnie Wong, who has been publicly bashing him and senior adviser Jeff Weaver for weeks over their handling of the primary and post-campaign moves.

[End]

Go read the rest of it – it’s tons of fun.

That is all.

Government Shutdown – Trump Needs to Hold Firm This Time

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Better late than never, as they say. – This is the partial government “shutdown” that comes 10 months too late.  This is the one President Donald Trump should have allowed to fester until he got his priorities funded back in February, when he signed a horrific omnibus spending bill that also failed to address border security in any meaningful way.

Those with long memories will recall that the President, upon signing that bloated monstrosity, declared he would never sign another omnibus like it. He also promised to never sign another one that did not effectively address border security.

He is not faced with an “omnibus” spending bill this time, but he is faced with yet another situation in which Democrats in the Senate refuse to do anything that would have the effect of controlling America’s right to remain a sovereign nation, which it cannot and will not continue to be without border security. The Democrats know this, and do not care. This is the reality we are all faced with in America today.

Had the President held firm in February and allowed what would have been a “shutdown” of about 14% of the federal government to continue until the Democrats caved, he may well have saved the Republican majority in the House of Representatives. Instead, by signing that bill, he allowed Paul Ryan and the rest of the GOP congressional leadership to commit political suicide by yet again abandoning all of their campaign promises in the name of political expediency.

The President seems intent on holding firm this time, but we have seen this act before, and it always ends with him caving in to pressure from Ryan, Mitch McConnell and his own White House advisors, and signing something that they assure him will make all the bad media coverage end.

Of course, back in February, their argument was, “Mr. President, you must sign this awful bill because it will allow us to win the mid-terms!” President Trump saw how that all worked out, as did we all. So he might be a little harder to move this time, with no elections coming up for two years and a new Democrat majority about to seize control of the House in a couple of weeks.

The President also seems to understand that, despite all his myriad other accomplishments in office, he is beginning to lose some of his base due to his failure to get much of anything done on what was the central issue of his campaign. He has options in this fight that he has thus far chosen not to use, for whatever reason.

One option is to simply declare the lack of border security a national security emergency and divert funds from the Department of Defense to fund the building of a wall. This is one of several issues on which Trump clashed with outgoing Defense Secretary James Mattis, and could have been a factor in Mattis’s decision to resign.

Whatever, all we can do is wait and see if the President will hold firm this time, at long last. It may be too late to save the Republican House, but it’s not too late to save the country.

That is all.

Judiciary Democrats Descend Into the Abyss of Mob Rule

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

It beats the hell out of anyone named McCain. – Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced his pick for replacing deceased-and-at-long-last-buried Senator John McCain.  Thankfully, the Governor’s choice had a last name that was not “McCain,” as in Cindy or Meghan.

Ducey named former Senator John Kyl to fill the seat, at least temporarily.  Kyl has only committed to serving through the end of the current congress, which will be replaced by the new congress in January, but he left open the possibility that he would serve through 2020. Kyl is a bit of a RINO, but at least he won’t be basing his votes on petty grudges, which is a huge improvement.

So the good news is that Arizona finally has a real Republican filling this seat.  The bad news is that we could face the potential of another McCain being appointed to the seat next January.

He’s written more fiction than Tom Clancy. – Bob Woodward won a Pulitzer Prize way back in 1975, and has been living off of his Watergate reporting ever since.  He’s also been publishing political fiction since that time, as this 2012 piece from Politico details.  Who can ever forget Woodward’s “deathbed confession” scene from his political novel “Veil: The Secret Wars of the CIA 1981-1987”, in which he claimed Reagan-era CIA Director Bill Casey told him all about Reagan’s “direct involvement” in the Iran/Contra deal?

The only problem with that scene is that Bob Woodward never visited Bob Casey while he lay on his hospital deathbed.  A mere technicality in today’s utterly fake news media, true, but a technicality that matters nonetheless.

The political fabulist claims that his latest book bashing President Trump and many of his senior staff is all based on “first-hand sources” and that he recorded all the conversations recounted therein.  But news of the book’s inflammatory claims was met with outright, direct denials from the likes of General John Kelly and General James Mattis.  (Woodward’s old running buddy, Carl Bernstein, said Kelly should resign after hearing his denial.  Woodward might have preferred Bernstein keep his running mouth shut given that he’s just been caught faking up a report for CNN.)

Thus, to save his sterling reputation (I kid), Woodward’s solution is simple:  Release the recordings.  You will see that he will not do that because, as has been his habit for more than 40 years, Woodward is making stuff up in order to sell books.

Hey, maybe get Bob Woodward to write them!  He’ll make up something great! – Meanwhile, over in Democrat/media Russia Collusion fantasyland, Special Counsel Bob Woodw…er, Mueller announced full capitulation on the whole question of finding anything resembling “collusion” between the Trump Campaign and Russia during the 2016 election campaign, notifying the White House that he is now happy to accept answers to his questions in writing, as the White House has been insisting all along.  This is what is known as waving the white flag.

Mueller left his options open on to directly question President Trump on the equally fantasy-based question of obstruction of justice, but it’s only a matter of time before the surrender comes on that idiotic, media-fed notion as well.  How, after all, would Mueller plan to mount a case that the President “obstructed justice” in firing ex-FBI Director and current teenage drama queen James Comey when every Democrat in America was at the time urging Mr. Trump to fire Comey for incompetence?  How would Mueller make such a case when the DOJ memo justifying the firing was written by the very Deputy Attorney General – Rod Rosenstein – who appointed him to become Special Counsel in the first place?  How would Mueller and his barely-competent political hacks deal at trial with testimony from Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz and George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley that it is simply not possible under our Constitution for the President to have committed obstruction in that firing given that he has an absolute right to fire anyone who works for him for any reason?

Mueller, desperate to keep this all alive until after Election Day, is slow-playing the inevitable as best he can, but capitulation on the obstruction question is coming in due time.

Ladies and Gentlemen!  Welcome to the Greatest Show on Earth! – As the daily Campaign Update predicted yesterday, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee turned the confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh into a three ring circus.  Which is totally in character, given that today’s Democrats base their entire political strategy on the old P.T. Barnum nostrum that there’s a sucker born every minute.  That’s how they raise money, after all.  Sadly, the birth rate for suckers appears to have rapidly accelerated over the past few decades.

The day’s shenanigans and the fact that all the protests were pre-planned by the Democrats working in concert with some of the worst people in the world – like the Sharia Law-promoting Linda Sarsour – have been well-documented, so I won’t repeat them here.  Just rest assured that as bad as Tuesday was, things are only going to go downhill from here, because this is what the Democrat Party has become, a semi-organized band of thugs promoting mob rule.

I have written for 25 years now of my belief that the national Democrat Party is the single greatest threat America’s democratic republic has ever faced, and that belief is sadly coming to ultimate fruition today.  You continue to vote for these people and their thuggery at your own peril.

Just another day in Democrat thuggery America.

That is all.

Congress De-funds a Ghost as Trump Eliminates Another Obama-era Scam

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Tired of all this Winning yet?  Oh, wait…:  Great news, everyone!  The 2234-page atrocity that congress refers to as an omnibus “budget” contains a secret provision nobody read that would defund ACORN!  You remember ACORN, don’t you?  That Obama-supported leftist organization that cobbled together hundreds of thousand of fraudulent votes to help Obama fake-win the 2008 presidential election?  Yeah, that ACORN.

Well, ACORN won’t be getting no federal money anymore, thanks to your intrepid establishment congressional Republicans, who work every day to protect by-God America.  One problem, though:  ACORN hasn’t actually existed since 2009.  D’oh!

Your congressional Republicans:  Only a decade late to the fight.

If you have any shopping to do, today’s a great day to go the mall. – Why?  Because the leftist-organized “March for our Lives” rallies will be taking place all over the country.  So, many of those teenagers who spend their days making a nuisance of themselves at your local shopping center will be busy pretending to know something about guns and gun control at a demonstration somewhere else.  So, go shopping, America – the coast will never be more clear.

You can’t fight AR-15s with pistols! The pistol’s bullets are just too slow!  But kids throwing rocks, on the other hand… – Remember the “pistol bullets are just too slow” line of argument against President Trump’s proposal to protect school children by allowing trained teachers and administrators to carry concealed weapons?  Wasn’t that a special one?  Yeah….good times.

Well, no worries, school administrators in Schuylkill County, PA have the conundrum of protecting their kids all figured out, you betcha.  Just ask Superintendent Dr. David Helsel, who bragged to state lawmakers in Harrisburg on Friday that “Every classroom has been equipped with a five-gallon bucket of river stone. If an armed intruder attempts to gain entrance into any of our classrooms, they will face a classroom full students armed with rocks and they will be stoned.”  Yeah, that’ll work.

I swear I don’t make this stuff up.

She’s so fake, she embarrasses all the other fake journalists. – Of all the legion of fake journalists working in the nation’s capital today, the Washington Post’s dimwitted Jennfer Rubin is probably the fakest of them all.  Upon learning of John Bolton’s appointment as the next National Security Advisor, Rubin issued the following tweet:

But just a year ago, Rubin penned a piece advocating for the appointment of Bolton to become Deputy Secretary of State:  “There are few experienced hands who know how the State Department works today and have a granular understanding as to how it should function. If not Bolton himself, someone very much like him would be ideal in the No. 2 spot at State.”  But it gets even better.

As Warren Henry at the Federalist points out, the reason why Rubin wanted Bolton as the #2 guy at State was so that he would become a logical choice to become …wait for it…wait for it…National Security Advisor!  I kid you not:  “Unless Trump wants to go through the rigmarole of hiring a new face, the inevitable [Michael T.] Flynn replacement is very likely to come from within the administration — the No. 2 person at the state or defense departments or some other player with whom Trump has developed a relationship of trust.”

Thus, it becomes crystal clear that Rubin’s real problem with Bolton is simply that he was appointed by Donald Trump, and at the WaPo, agreeing with the sitting, duly-elected POTUS is simply not tolerated.

Trump continues to disassemble the un-American Obama legacy, brick by disgraceful brick. – The fake news media is reporting that President Trump “banned transgenders from serving in the military” Friday evening.  That’s actually not true.  What he did was implement a new policy – based on the recommendation from Defense Secretary James Mattis – that will ban the ongoing scam in which persons with gender dysphoria have joined the military in order to take advantage of a policy implemented by Barack Hussein Obama that forces the taxpayers to pay for their gender reassignment surgery.

Towards that end, the new policy states that “transgender persons with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria — individuals who the policies state may require substantial medical treatment, including medications and surgery — are disqualified from military service except under certain limited circumstances.”  Individuals who have been “stable for 36 consecutive months in their biological sex prior to accession,” and those who “do not require a change of gender” will be exempt from the new policy and allowed to serve.

In other words, the scam – which Obama actively encouraged – of enlisting in one of the armed services for a three-year hitch and spending most of that time undergoing gender-transition surgeries at taxpayer expense es no mas.  On the other hand, trans-gender individuals who truly wish to serve their country honorably remain welcome in the U.S. armed services, as they should be.

For all you enraged SJWs out there, this what is known as good public policy.

Just another day in erasing the disappearing Obama legacy America.

That is all.

Sebastian Gorka is Gone, But the Trump Agenda Rolls Along

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Deputy National Security Advisor Sebastian Gorka resigned late Friday, leaving behind a plaintive, drama-filled letter of resignation.  The letter is fairly long, but this passage neatly encapsulates its sentiments: “[G]iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are – for now – ascendant within the White House.  As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the People’s House.” So, Dr. Gorka is the latest of the original set of Trump advisors to be forced out of the White House by Chief of Staff John Kelly and National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster.  But don’t worry about the good doctor:  in its own report on the resignation, Breitbart notes that it is currently negotiating a deal to bring him on staff as a commentator.  He won’t be going hungry anytime soon.
  • Don’t get me wrong here – I like Dr. Gorka and have always found him to be an astute analyst of the problem of Islamic terrorism.  As such, I’d much rather have him in the White House than outside of it.  But President Trump has made his choices for who his senior advisors will be, and has clearly gone with the Generals.  These generals serve at the pleasure of the President, so if Mr. Trump were unhappy with the many staff changes that have taken place since General Kelly assumed his new position, he’d have full power to stop them.  That that hasn’t happened tells us all we need to know.
  • Mr. Gorka’s letter also contains the following ominous sentence:  “The fact that those who drafted and approved the speech [on the situation in Afghanistan] removed any mention of Radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism proves that a crucial element of your presidential campaign has been lost.”  This is nonsense, a sentence Mr. Gorka no doubt drafted in a fit of pique.  The fact that the speech did not include the utterance of either of those phrases does not at all mean that the President has lost focus on eradicating ISIS, Al Qaeda and the Taliban, or on punishing nations like Pakistan that harbor those and other Islamic terrorist groups.  The U.S. military campaign to eradicate ISIS continues to produce excellent results, and the President, in his speech, gave his generals explicit authority to step up the campaign on Al Qaeda and the Taliban.
  • Indeed, despite the exit in recent weeks of several “Trump loyalists” (as the fake media describes them) during August, there is no noticeable corresponding let-up in the Trump agenda.  This week we have seen the President pardon Sheriff Joe Arpaio, reversing a kangaroo court ruling by an outlaw left wing judge; threaten to shut down the government if he doesn’t get funding for the border wall; order General James Mattis to indefinitely suspend recruitment of trans-genders into the military forces; and prepare paperwork necessary to end DACA, yet another Obama-era open borders program.
  • Those are just the high-profile items that the fake news media has made a big deal of.  There continue to be dozens of administration initiatives taking place under the radar to reorganize inefficient bureaucracies, rescind or rewrite horrible Obama-era regulations – like EPA’s heinous “Waters of the U.S.” power grab – and fire or isolate disloyal apparatchiks at various agencies.
  • This has been the story of the Trump Administration for seven months now:  While the fake news media focuses on sensational stories like Russia Collusion, Charlottesville riots and Civil War statue removals, the Administration’s senior leadership continues to execute revolutionary changes in the way the government functions while flying underneath the media radar.
  • So don’t worry about Sebastian Gorka.  He’ll be just fine.  Like Steve Bannon, he may well be a more effective advocate for Trump policies at Breitbart than from within the White House, as his own letter states.  Meanwhile, the Trump agenda continues to move forward.  Hey, maybe these generals are “Trump loyalists”, too.  Just a thought.

Just another day in White House revolving door America.

That is all.

Kim Backs Down – U.S. Diplomacy Wins For Once

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Well, maybe the Crazy Little Fat Guy in North Korea isn’t quite so crazy after all. –  Shortly after Defense Secretary General James Mattis warned that the firing of North Korean missiles in the direction of any U.S. state or territory  would be an act of war and treated by the U.S. with an overwhelming response, the Crazy Little Fat Guy appears, at least for now, to have backed down.  In a silly-worded statement, the Crazy Little Fat Guy stated that he has decided not to launch the threatened four nuclear-armed missiles at Guam, a U.S. territory, saying he would “wait a little longer.”  Mr. Crazy went on to say that “If the Yankees persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions on the Korean Peninsula and in its vicinity, testing the self-restraint of the DPRK, the [North] will make an important decision as it already declared.”  Ok, whatevs, dude.
  • Sorry, Chubby, we’re all out of unleaded. – Another big motivating factor influencing this decision was obviously the action earlier in the day by China to cut off most trade with North Korea, including oil exports to the little dictatorship.  Not even the Crazy Little Fat Guy is crazy enough to think he can run his military machine without fuel.  No oil, no war.  This is a really simple equation.
  • CNN’s gonna need some new talking points. – China’s move represents a big win for U.S. diplomacy, led by President Trump, Sec. of State Rex Tillerson, and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.  The move by China was its effort to comply with sanctions approved late last week by the U.N. Security Council, a proposal that was driven by the U.S. government.  It took months of focused diplomacy and arm-twisting – and even a few threats – with China and Russia to finally achieve the unanimous vote required to enact such international trade sanctions.  This, of course, does not fit the U.S. media’s narrative that the Trump Administration doesn’t do diplomacy, and so credit must go elsewhere in our fake media environment.
  • Wait, is the FBI becoming a functioning agency again? – In what was treated as a minor news story as the fake news media obsessed over Charlottesville, the FBI announced it had, for once, stopped a planned terrorist attack.  The agency arrested some dude named Jerry Varnell, who was planning to detonate a 1,000 lb. bomb in an effort to blow up the Federal Reserve Building in OKC.  No, really, after the Obama years, during which we would have a terrorist kill a bunch of people followed by news that the terrorist had been under surveillance by the FBI for years without the agency taking any action, the FBI actually arrested a terrorist before he could kill anyone!  Fantastic!
  • Hope springs eternal, maybe. – Of course, Mr. Varnell is a white guy who was threatening to blow up federal government property, while all the terrorists who committed acts in recent years while under FBI surveillance were Muslims who planned to just kill private citizens on private property.  It’s a sad thing, but I can’t help wondering if those factors have something to do with the FBI’s ability – or even willingness – to intervene with known terrorists before they kill people.  Hopefully, this arrest is just a sign that things really are changing within the Justice Department and FBI, both of which had been hopelessly corrupted during the Obama years.
  • Those Fightin’ Texas Aggies won’t be fightin’ this battle. – Speaking of Charlottesville and white nationalist demonstrations, the administration at Texas A&M University cancelled plans to allow what was being called a “White Lives Matter” demonstration on its campus in September, citing safety concerns.  “Alt-Right” icon Richard Spencer was scheduled to come to the campus on September 11 to lead the rally.  This move will of course be decried as suppression of free speech by Texas A&M – which, let’s admit it, it is – but, as long as the University also moves to cancel any planned rallies by violent leftwing George Soros groups like Black Lives Matter and Antifa, I really have no problem with this decision.  Free speech is a wonderful thing, and any person should be free to say and believe whatever repugnant things they want to believe and say.  But that doesn’t necessarily give anyone an unfettered right to stage any kind of rally they want to stage, and force universities to spend thousands of dollars on security to prevent violence from breaking out.  It just doesn’t.
  • And then he shouted “Hullabaloo, Caneck, Caneck!”*** – Incidentally, the best part of this whole episode was the statement from A&M Student Body President Bobby Brooks, who supported the University’s decision in classic Aggie fashion:  “Students have come from a multitude of backgrounds and sacrificed many things to attend Texas A&M, and they have the right to go to classes without fearing for their safety.  White supremacy and the violence that has accompanied it are most certainly ‘Bad Bull.'” **  Hilarious.

Just another day in ‘Bad Bull’ America.

That is all.

**  From Wikipedia: ‘Bad Bull’ means anything not in keeping with Aggie traditions or the Aggie spirit.

***From Wikipedia:  Beginning phrase of the Aggie War Hymn.  The lyrics are an onomatopoeic representation of the sound a cannon being loaded, or also the sound of a train rolling through town since there is a train track that splits the campus.
