Masking the Truth: It’s not about the Virus, It’s about Obedience

Guest Piece by Karen Kataline

The Left has sprinted past what we previously thought was a line in the sand between personal freedom and forced, state dictates for personal behavior.

The breach of that boundary has led to numerous other fundamental rights crumbling to dust along with our historical monuments.

There is still time to restore those boundaries and our rights but only if we start telling the truth en masse and defying unjust edicts from lawless lawmakers.  Sadly, we can no longer depend that there will be enough lawful lawmakers to protect our liberties. We must protect them.

Coronavirus is still being used as an excuse to crack down on our freedoms despite false projections that even the CDC dramatically ratcheted down months ago.

Democrat governors and other politicians are refusing to relinquish the “emergency powers” they have awarded to themselves that allowed them to continue lock downs and restrictions of citizens and their businesses on their whim.

As if they somehow thought of it independently, they continue to act simultaneously to tighten their demands and micromanage our lives.  They have now moved from suggesting to demanding that we all, no matter our health, risk level, or opinion are to be forced to wear masks in public. What a perfect and ever-present reminder that we are not in charge of our lives. They are.

Even weak-willed Republicans like Governor Greg Abbott of Texas have become lost in this masquerade.

It doesn’t matter whether masks work or make sense. It only matters that it has been a wildly successful tool for obedience training in collectivism for Americans. Socialism can’t take hold without it.

The avowed and secret socialists among us are engaged in an all-out battle to punish America for being built precisely on that individualism and for flourishing because of a constitution that was created to protect it.

While Democrat tacticians have their Democrat politicians ramping up threats of fines and jail time for refusing to wear a mask, they’re also pushing the idea that masks are “cool.”  There is a whole new cottage industry that is marketing masks as an opportunity to make a “signature” fashion statement. There’s nothing quite like superficial individuality to “mask” one’s prostration to serfdom and conformity.

Savvy watchers of the Left were suspicious early on when they noticed a familiar Leftist tactic being warmed up and served for public consumption. They went to work making it socially acceptable to vilify dissenters and brand them as selfish. They rush to reward it.

How dare anyone question the efficacy of masks or the use of bullying and intimidation to force Americans to comply?  How dare anyone care about their own personal freedom and the freedom of their fellow citizens, even those too ignorant or complacent to care?  “We’re in the middle of a pandemic!” They scold, self-righteously.

Masks create further alienation and suspicion between friends, neighbors and business associates. They muzzle us while helping snitches to easily identify dissenters.

We have seen how deadly the combination of collectivism and social bullying can be. It can often lead to mob rule and violence. At that point, politicians don’t have to worry about enforcing their unconstitutional orders. The mob does it for them.

Masks also blur the lines between criminals and law-abiding citizens. We are indistinguishable from Antifa and other groups who now commit heinous crimes in plain sight and with impunity. The backward subliminal message is that masked people are law-abiding and unmasked people are criminals.

After watching the same Democrat politicians refuse to impose their own orders on rioters, looters and vandals, their credibility is lower than the fatality rate of the coronavirus.

In light of such a blatant dereliction of duty to protect their innocent constituents, they still have the chutzpah to claim that it is compassion that compels them to order us to wear masks.

The good news is that a growing number of people believe that these suffocating orders are ridiculous and even dangerous. The bad news is that most still only whisper it in muffled tones behind their cloth masks.

As we have seen, complying with the orders of authoritarians only brings more authoritarianism. Masks will continue to be a major battleground on which we can beat it back.

Previously polite, law-abiding citizens must unmask themselves and let their voices be heard. Unlike their oppressive opposition, they have little interest in vilifying those who choose to wear a mask for their own reasons.

In the 1982 film, Ben Kingsley portrayed Gandhi as saying, “100,000 Englishmen simply cannot control 350 million Indians, if those Indians refuse to cooperate.”

It’s time to stop cooperating.

Thursday News Roundup: The COVID-19 Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves

The beatings will continue until morale improves. – California Governor Gavin Newsom re-implemented lockdown orders yesterday in 19 of the state’s most populous counties, as reported by Fox News:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a new round of lockdown measures Wednesday, ordering 19 counties to close all indoor operations for several business sectors, including restaurants, as the state grapples with a resurgence of coronavirus cases.

In addition to bars being forced to shut down temporarily, restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, family entertainment venues, zoos, museums and cardrooms must halt operations in selected communities, Newsom said Wednesday.

Businesses can continue to operate if they can move operations outdoors.

“This doesn’t mean restaurants are shut down,” Newsom, a Democrat, said at a briefing. “It means that we’re trying to take the activities, as many activities as we can — these mixed activities, these concentrated activities — and move them outdoors, which is a way of mitigating the spread of this virus.”

The list of affected counties ran up and down the state: Contra Costa, Fresno, Glenn, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Merced, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Tulare and Ventura counties.

[End]

So, thousands more businesses hampered beyond profitability or lost completely, tens of thousands more Californians back to the unemployment roles, all in a re-try of a strategy that has already been proven to be utterly ineffective.

And that’s not all:

Beaches in Los Angeles County, along with piers and bicycle paths, will close beginning Friday through Monday in an effort to prevent a repeat of Memorial Day weekend when large crowds gathered in close proximity and largely ignored safety measures.

All parking facilities at state beaches in Southern California and the Bay Area will also be closed for the upcoming weekend. The closures reverse the reopening process that began weeks ago after months of unprecedented lockdowns.

The state first began to “toggle back” reopenings over the weekend when it ordered bar closures in seven counties that are seeing increases in infections.

Ahead of the holiday weekend, the governor has voiced concerns about people gathering with friends and family, which he said could lead to complacency and more virus transmissions. He is also urging municipalities to rethink firework displays.

[End]

Ok, so no gathering with friends and family? But what about all those riots and protests and demonstrations by the Antifa/BLM domestic terrorist arm of the Democrat Party?

Oh, hey, those are fine:

Well of course they are. Allowing this dichotomy of government action to continue to go on is inhumanly depraved. People can’t go to church, can’t attend movies, can’t hug their grandparents, can’t let their children play in a park or on a beach without the Democrat governor or mayor sending in the police. But let 5,000 potential rioters pack themselves tightly into a public space for a few hours to chant obscene slogans advocating de-funding and murdering police officers, and the governors and mayors can’t be bothered to lift a finger.

You just could never make this stuff up, folks, not in a million bazillion years.

Meanwhile, in Texas, a different kind of protest action rose up. – Taking a cue from the leftists at Antifa/BLM, a Kilgore bar owner organized what he calls the “Bar Lives Matter” protest against the orders of Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Wednesday:

Austin, Texas protest lockdown bars

From a story at the New York Post:

Bar owners in Texas staged a protest in reaction to the state’s order to shut them down for a second time due to the coronavirus, reports said.

Tee Allen Parker, owner of the Machine Shed Bar and Grille, named Tuesday’s event “Bar Lives Matter” in an apparent reference to the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality.

Parker, whose establishment is in Kilgore, Texas, roughly two hours south of Dallas, is already suing Texas Gov. Greg Abbot over the bar closures — which he claims are devastating his livelihood and forcing many of his peers into bankruptcy, according to CBS Austin.

“This one individual is picking and choosing winners and losers,” Jared Woodfill, an attorney for Parker, told the outlet. “Gov. Abbott has chosen to sentence bar owners to bankruptcy.”

As a part of its most recent coronavirus order, Texas did not close down or limit capacity at other businesses — like hair salons, tattoo parlors, and nail studios. The order did require restaurants to operate at 50 percent capacity.

“You can’t tell me that my tiny little bar is the problem. He’s the problem,” Parker previously told the Washington Post. “He’s targeting us, and it’s discrimination.”

[End]

I have been an off-and-on fan of Gov. Abbott, but it is very hard to argue with Parker’s statement that the Governor and his “Strike Force” of advisors, not the bars, are the real problem. Just like Newsom, Gov. Abbott has done next-to-nothing to crack down on the massive demonstrations and protest actions that include no social distancing and very little mask-wearing that happened in Texas’s major cities during June. Similarly, Abbott continues to do next-to-nothing to educate the Texas public about the massive fraud the state’s hospitals are committing in their reporting of new “cases” in their craven efforts to grab as much federal money as possible.

To single out bars amid all of the other establishments at which Texans congregate closely in groups is obviously discriminatory and very likely violates both the U.S. and Texas constitutions. From April through June, it was easy to pound solely on Democrat governors for their depravity in the face of this viral gift from China, but Abbott and Arizona’s Mike Ducey are making it very difficult to continue drawing that distinction.

Better temper that optimism over a Wuhan Virus “vaccine.” – Stocks all over the world rose overnight and the U.S. markets are poised for a big opening today due to optimistic news regarding the development of several COVID-19 vaccines.

From a Reuters story:

NEW YORK, July 1 (Reuters) – U.S. stocks moved higher on Wednesday as rising hopes of a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine eased concerns another round of lockdowns was likely following a record surge in coronavirus cases in the United States.

Pfizer Inc’s shares rose nearly 5% after the drugmaker said a COVID-19 vaccine being developed with German biotech firm BioNTech showed promise and was found to be well-tolerated in early-stage human trials.

The gains made Pfizer shares one of the top boosts to both the S&P 500 and Dow Industrials while U.S.-listed shares of BioNTech gained more than 8%, helping improve the mood on Wall Street after the United States registered 47,000 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the biggest one-day spike since the start of the pandemic.

Investors were also encouraged by some upbeat economic data as coronavirus-induced lockdowns have eased. A report on Wednesday showed a slump in global manufacturing had ebbed in June, with U.S. figures hitting their highest level in more than a year.

[End]

That all sounds great, right? Trouble is, the day before we saw this announcement largely ignored by our corrupt news media:

Do you understand what that’s telling you? It’s telling you that the FDA is planning to refer to any medical treatment that produces 50% better results than a damn sugar pill as a “vaccine.” What exactly is 50% better than zero?

So, if you still labor under the illusion that Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates are going to ride to the rescue this coming winter with a miracle cure for the Wuhan Virus, you are in for one enormous disappointment.

That’s not going to happen.

Our country must do the same thing with COVID-19 that we have done with every previous flu strain: Learn to live with it. Protect the most vulnerable, practice common sense safety measures and effectively treat those who become ill. All of this other stuff and fear porn flying around in the public domain thanks mainly to Fauci, our main current national menace, is just so much nonsense designed frighten you into submission.

We are in a very dangerous place at the moment. Be careful out there.

That is all.

Friday News Roundup: Trump Saves Memorial, BLM Terrorist Funders, and Joe Biden Can’t do the Maths

Joe Biden can’t do the maths. – He’s just an Unfrozen Caveman Presumptive Nominee – our strange ways and numbers confuse him. Here’s Creepy Uncle Quid Pro Farty China Joe Biden, telling us that he believes that the Wuhan Virus has killed fully 1/3rd of all Americans:

You just could never make this stuff up, folks.

Speaking of stuff you just could never make up, officials have decided that it is no longer appropriate to display a statue of George Washington at….wait for it...GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY. I swear, I swear I do not make this stuff up:

Man, no one could have ever guessed. – If you still believe – after all of the rampant chaos and idiocy and anti-American lunacy you have seen from them over the past month – that Black Lives Matter is anything other than a dangerous domestic terrorist group, check out this story from the Washington Examiner:

The co-founder of Black Lives Matter names a convicted cop killer as one of her heroes, and the BLM national organization is fiscally sponsored through a leftist group whose board of directors includes a convicted terrorist.

Alicia Garza, one of three co-founders of the Black Lives Matter national organization, has repeatedly talked about how convicted cop killer and wanted domestic terrorist Joanne Chesimard, also known as Assata Shakur, is one of her main inspirations. Susan Rosenberg, a member of the board of directors for the left-wing Thousand Currents group, which handles the intake of donations made to Black Lives Matter, is a convicted terrorist who, among other things, was suspected of helping Shakur escape from prison.

Rosenberg, who was listed as the vice chairwoman of the board of directors for Thousand Currents until the webpage was pulled down this week, as first reported by the Capital Research Center, had been a member of the radical leftist revolutionary militant group known as the May 19th Communist Organization, affiliated with the Weather Underground terrorist group and other radicals. She was convicted on weapons and explosives charges and sentenced to 58 years in prison, serving 16 years before being pardoned by President Bill Clinton in January 2001.

Thousand Currents did not return a request for comment.

[End]

Thousand Currents, of course, is just another of the hundreds of George Soros front groups that fund social unrest and violence in America today. If you were able to audit the group’s books, you would no doubt see it funding Antifa and other Democrat Party causes designed to destroy our country as well.

Black Lives Matter is just Antifa with another, more politically correct name. That’s all it is. If you still don’t get that, go stand in a corner until you do.

Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood Update – This would be a really good time to remind everyone that Barack Hussein Obama His Own Self, along with the Fainting Felon, helped the Muslim Brotherhood – people like the woman below – gain power in Egypt and across the Middle East:

At least I think that’s a woman – it’s really kind of hard to tell. If you are gay or Jewish and you vote for Democrats, you are voting for people who fund and support people who want you dead. That’s just a fact of life.

Hey, remember when BLM was going to tear down the Emancipation Memorial? – Yeah, that didn’t happen, thanks to President Trump. Trump ordered the federal Park Police to protect the memorial – which was funded by freed slaves – after BLM terrorists had announced they planned to congregate at Lincoln Park at 7:00 Thursday night to tear the thing down.

In keeping with the Trump agenda to protect the country against violent invaders like Mexican drug gangs, the Park Police responded by building a wall:

Protesters for and against the removal of the Emancipation Memorial debate in Lincoln Park yesterday in Washington, DC

From a story at the Daily Mail:

The Emancipation statue was first erected on April 11, 1876, exactly eleven years to the day of Lincoln’s assassination.

It was paid for by formerly enslaved people, many of them Black veterans, to honor Lincoln for the Emancipation Proclamation.

The fundraising was started after Virginian Charlotte Scott donated the first $5 she earned as a free person to create a memorial to Lincoln, according to DCist.

[End]

That is what these terrorists want to tear down. That is the noble history they wish to erase. Despicable.

That is all.

Wednesday News Roundup: Texans Can Take Care of Texans; The Rest of the Country Needs Help

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

In case you’re wondering why Texas Governor Greg Abbott, in a press conference yesterday with the police chiefs and mayors of Fort Worth and Dallas, said that he would not be asking for military assistance from the federal government to quell any out-of-control demonstrations in our state, all you need to see is this photo taken last night in the halls of the Texas Capitol Building by Glenn DeShields:

Image may contain: indoor

Those are Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, sleeping on the marble floors. I have walked those floors many times. They are 100% firm – they don’t give an inch, just like the officers getting a few moments of rest on them.

“So we will not be asking the United States military to come into the state of Texas because we know that Texans can take care of Texans. We have tremendous police forces in Dallas, in Fort Worth, in the surrounding suburbs across the entire state. We have an abundance of resources that are being provided by the Texas Department of Public safety,” said Abbott.

God Bless Texas.

Why doesn’t this Black life matter? – Dave Dorn, a retired captain of the St. Louis Metro Police Department, was murdered by thugs who were looting a pawn shop where he was working security on Tuesday. Mr. Dorn happened to be a Black man, as were the vicious thugs who killed him.

Because Captain Dorn was killed by black men, the national news media is essentially ignoring this story. A web search indicates that only ABC News bothered to file even an online story about this senseless killing, and it was reported in the context of several police killings and injuries that happened on Tuesday, with this headline: “Small-town police chief killed as officers in 3 cities wounded during violence at George Floyd protests.”

To make the story even more demeaning to Captain Floyd’s memory, it does not even mention the fact that he was a Black man. I kid you not. Read it for yourself.

Our news media is an existential threat to our country.

Here’s your Ironic Story of the Day. – Check out this tweet issued by the Associated Press on Tuesday:

Just a reminder that Joe Biden has already spent 16,089 days of his life in public office. In all of that time, his main contribution to addressing “institutional racism” was to co-author the 1993 crime bill that… wait for it … targeted Black men.

But he’s now the Democrat Party’s Great White Hope for solving all the problems faced by America’s Black community. If you’re Black and you fall for this, you truly do get what you deserve. Stop this madness.

Speaking of corrupt news media… – The Secret Service guard station that sits just outside the White House grounds was burned last night by the rioters in Washington DC:

A web search shows not a single story on this incident from our national news media. NOT ONE.

But hey, that’s not fake news, so… – One story that the entire national media focused on Tuesday is – predictably – completely fake. It is the story still being pushed this morning that the federal Park Police, in clearing the path for President Trump and his entourage to make the walk from the White House to St. John’s Church on Monday afternoon, used “tear gas and rubber bullets” to intimidate the violent rioters who have caused so much damage and injured at least 60 Secret Service and other law enforcement personnel.

I watched it all happen live, and it was very clear that none of that happened. The Park Police issued a statement Tuesday clarifying what actually did happen:

“At approximately 6:33 pm, violent protestors on H Street NW began throwing projectiles including bricks, frozen water bottles and caustic liquids,” the USPP said in a statement. “The protestors also climbed onto a historic building at the north end of Lafayette Park that was destroyed by arson days prior. Intelligence had revealed calls for violence against the police, and officers found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the street.

“As many of the protestors became more combative, continued to throw projectiles, and attempted to grab officers’ weapons, officers then employed the use of smoke canisters and pepper balls when protestors did scatter from the area.”

[End]

Reporters from NBC and the Washington Post continue to spread their fiction this morning. Because they are corrupt, fake-news-promoting enemies of the people. That’s what they are.

For those of you still holding out hope that Salt Lake City U.S. Attorney John Huber might still produce some shocking indictments of Obamagate bad actors, the President of the United States would like to disabuse you of that silly notion:

Remember, Huber was supposedly appointed by former AG Jeff Sessions to investigate the Obama FBI’s fake investigation of the Clinton email scandal way back in late 2017. He has to date produced nothing because that’s really what Sessions appointed him to do.

Now do you understand why President Trump detests Mr. Sessions, and supports his opponent in the upcoming runoff election, Tommy Tubberville? It really isn’t complicated.

Reminder: None of this rioting ever really was about George Floyd. – Rioters in Boston last night defaced a monument called “Glory.” The monument depicts heroic Union solders during the U.S. Civil War.

The solders all have one thing in common: They’re Black. They’re the members of the 54th Regiment who became the first Black soldiers to fight in the Civil War.

You could never make this stuff up.

That is all.

Tuesday News Roundup: As Red States Reopen, Blue States Continue to Suffer

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Bolstered by the fact that his state just experienced its lowest numbers since April 3 in terms of new COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations and deaths despite expanded testing, Texas Governor Greg Abbott continued to expand one of the nation’s most successful reopening plans on Monday. Abbott’s Phase II will allow bars, bowling alleys, wine tasting rooms and other entertainment venues to reopen at 25% capacity this Friday, and allows restaurants, salons and other already-opened businesses to expand to 50% capacity on that day.

Here are other details of Abbott’s Phase II, as reported by the Dallas Morning News:

– Effective immediately, daycare centers can reopen, as can massage businesses, tattoo parlors and piercing studios, so long as there is at least 6 feet of social distancing between operating work stations.

– On Friday, restaurants can increase their capacity to 50%. Bars and several entertainment venues, including bowling alleys, bingo halls, skating rinks, rodeos and aquariums,, can reopen at 25% capacity.

– On May 29, zoos can reopen at 25% capacity.

– On May 31, youth camps can reopen. So can professional sports venues – including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, football, and car racing – so long as there are no in-person spectators.

In contrast to the fright tactics pushed by the corrupt news media on behalf of the Democrat Party, Texas has seen no surge whatsoever in Wuhan Virus cases during the course of its reopening, and continues to have by far the lowest rate of death per capita among the nation’s large states. Abbott did choose to delay the Phase II implementation for the El Paso and Amarillo areas, but that was due to isolated outbreaks of the virus among the employees in two meatpacking plants.

Meanwhile, as reopenings in red states like Texas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas and others continued to run along smoothly, here is a sampling of what Democrat governors and mayors were inflicting on the people in the blue states:

–  New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said his city’s beaches would remain closed through the end of May, and threatened to have his police literally pull people “right out of the water” if they are caught swimming in the ocean;

Toadish Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker told reporters that he has amended his own lockdown order to now include fines of $25,000 and imprisonment for any business owner who dares to defy his authority;

Cartman: Respect My Authority (With images) | Video games for kids ...

In Michigan, Generalissimo Gretchen Whitmer, who has been under tremendous pressure to lift her jackboot off the necks of her citizens, relented a bit by announcing a modest reopening of some businesses in the state’s upper peninsula and far northern region. But Herr Gretchen will keep the rest of the state – and the vast preponderance of her population – under a strict and utterly failed lockdown policy through at least May 28;

In Oregon, Alinskyite Governor Kate Brown found herself on the losing end of a lawsuit challenging her own insane lockdown early in the day, as a state district judge ruled that businesses can reopen because, you know, the Constitution and stuff. However, by day’s end, the reliable leftist brutes on the state’s supreme court had reversed that decision, reinstating Brown’s counterproductive policy while the case goes through the appeals process;

In New Jersey, goofy Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy found himself in a bit of a conundrum as local law enforcement officers are beginning to tire of enforcing his mindless edicts. When a gym operator in Bellmawr announced he was going to reopen on Monday, several hundred supporters showed up to support him. Police arriving on the scene surveyed the crowd, informed them they were all in violation of the Governor’s order, and then, smiling, told them to “have a good day.” Murphy responded as bullies always do, threatening the owners that they would “have a different experience” should they try to open again on Tuesday;

Despite California’s having one of the lowest rates of infections and deaths per capita among the large population states, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, in an interview designed to show how his city is not in total lockdown, made clear his city would remain in its current lockdown condition until well into the summer before he would even begin studying ways to allow businesses to reopen.

The United States is a divided country, and we are going to come out of this Wuhan Virus episode in a situation in which the red states will be miles ahead of the blue states economically and in terms of the individual freedoms of the citizens. You can be certain that thugs like Eric Garcetti and Bill de Blasio and  Gretchen Whitmer are going to continue exercising any authority they can get away with against their citizens even after the virus has run its course.

We must keep in mind that no leftist is going to voluntarily surrender power once they have obtained it. That will only be done if the U.S. Department of Justice and the courts move to force them to relent.

Make no mistake about it: The Democrat thugs themselves understand the long-term economic ramifications of whey they are currently doing, which is why they and Nancy Pelosi are in such a frenzy now to force congress to bail the states out. Many blue states were already teetering on the brink of insolvency before the viral gift from China arrived at our shores, and now their fate is pretty much sealed.

But states like Texas, Florida and many others that have a constitutional requirement to balance their budgets are not in any similar situation. Thus, a congressional bailout would in fact be a situation in which red states that have properly managed themselves would be forced to bail out blue states that have been badly mismanaged by Democrats for decades.

It’s a soft civil war, folks. Let’s pray it doesn’t expand into a hard one.

That is all.

Monday News Roundup: Rand Paul is Done With Fauci and Cuomo Scurries for Cover

The Mid-Day Campaign Update

“My fellow Republican senators have tried to see things from the Speaker’s point of view, but we can’t get our heads that far up our rear ends.” – Louisiana Senator John Kennedy on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo just now, talking about Pelosi’s $3 trillion “stimulus bill” atrocity.

Oops, he did it again. – Remember how serial alarmist Anthony Fauci warned that we would see a spike in Wuhan Virus cases in states that opened up their economies early? Yeah, that’s not happening, according to HHS Secretary Alex Azar. Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” program with Snake Jake Tapper, Azar had this to say about that:

“We are seeing that in areas that are opening, we’re not seeing the spike in cases. We still see spikes in some areas that are, in fact, closed, very localized situations. And so this is going to be very important for us to watch the circumstances on the ground. With reopening, what’s the key to reopening?”

Thus, as with every other prediction Fauci has made related to this Chinese plague over the past four months, he turns out to have been wrong. When are we going to quit listening to this guy?

Rand Paul is certainly grown weary of Fauci’s faulty advice. – In a weekend interview with NewsMax TV’s Greg Kelly, Senator Paul had this to say about Fauci’s contention that we need to keep schools closed through the fall semester:

“The future is difficult and we shouldn’t assume that one guy with a Ph.D. or an M.D. knows everything about the future,” he said.

“Every school was closed and not one kid was sick in Kentucky. Is that an overreach? I don’t know,” Paul added. “We have 600,000 people out of work in Kentucky now. We’ve got devastating numbers where we’re gonna bankrupt the state again on unemployment, even though we’ve given $3 trillion out.

“There’s not enough money in China, there’s not enough money to be printed at the Federal Reserve. We’ve gotta open the economy and we have to be reasonable about this. We can’t wait for perfection. That’s my gripe with Dr. Fauci. Not that he’s a disingenuous person or he doesn’t have the right motives. I think he does. I think he wants what’s best for the country. But so do I, and we have to have a debate over whether we keep the economy closed. I don’t think it can go on forever.”

[End]

Senator Paul is right.

Perfect example of how Democrats behave in the face of adversity. – Fascist California Governor Gavin Newsom is being quoted today by The Hill as promising that first reponders “will be the first ones laid off by cities and counties” if congress doesn’t provide a bailout for blue states like California that have been mismanaged by Democrats for decades and now find themselves on the brink of bankruptcy.

There are literally hundreds of budget items in any city or county government that can be cut instead of laying off first responders. But Democrat mayors, city councils and county governments invariably, without fail, resort to laying off law enforcement and firefighters first any time spending must be addressed. They do this for two reasons: 1) because fighting fires and crime are their lowest personal priorities, and 2) in order to make the process of cutting a budget as painful as possible on the community they govern.

In making his promise to The Hill, Newsom is simply following the standard Democrat playbook.

Speaking of thuggish Democrat governors, Fox has a really good report detailing the fact that several of them are now facing a string of lawsuits challenging their clearly unconstitutional orders. Newsom alone is facing at least a dozen such suits.

And it isn’t just Democrat mayors who are being challenged. Buried way down in this piece is a paragraph discussing the fact that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is threatening to file actions against several big-city Democrat mayors and county judges over their 0wn efforts to enforce public restrictions that exceed those issued by Governor Greg Abbott. Abbott will hold a press conference Monday afternoon outlining his own plans for moving forward, and I’m told he will address this matter during that conference.

Meanwhile, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is coming under fire for his Sunday comments about thousands of elderly citizens dying in his state’s nursing homes.:

“We worked it out so we always had available beds. Nobody was deprived of a bed or medical coverage in any way. And still people died. Still people died. Older people, vulnerable people are going to die from this virus. That is going to happen, despite whatever you do.”

Prior to that passage, Cuomo had defended his decision in March to force his state’s nursing homes to admit infected patients, an action that no doubt resulted in thousands of other elderly patients in those homes contracting COVID-19 and dying. In defending his decision, Cuomo said no one is to blame, and “no one should go to jail” for having caused those deaths.

How to react to this? Well, first, try to imagine the uproar you would be hearing today had President Trump issued the order that Cuomo issued. The cacophony would be overwhelming, and we would already have impeachment proceedings taking place in the House of Representatives.

But because Cuomo is a protected Democrat, the corrupt, mainstream media is essentially silent on this matter, and has been for weeks as the scandal has percolated.

But second, note that Cuomo is to some extent correct here. Older people, vulnerable people with underlying health conditions, are most at-risk from this virus, and are going to die from it. Note also that, according to the Dept. of Health and Human Services, the average remaining life span of an elderly person admitted into a nursing home in this country is a stunning 5 months. Thus, many of the thousands of New York nursing home residents whose deaths have counted as COVID-19 would have died in any event, and a high percentage of them really died from another cause.

That having been said, all of that reality ultimately condemn’s Cuomo’s approach to the matter. The proper response to this virus in the first place would have been to focus resources on protecting nursing home patients and others among the most vulnerable. That’s what governors like Florida’s Ron DeSantis and other Republicans did, and their states have not experienced anything like the problems in nursing homes that New York has seen.

Instead, Cuomo shut down his entire state, depriving millions of jobs and shutting down hundreds of thousands of businesses that will never come back. Even worse, he actively ordered infected patients to be embedded among the most vulnerable of all in his state’s nursing homes.

Texas Supreme Court Orders Shelley Luther Released From Jail [3rd UPDATE]

The Mid-Day Campaign Update

***UPDATE 3: Here is a video of her leaving the jail:

***UPDATE 2: Governor Abbott, in a meeting with President Trump at the White House, just announced that Mrs. Luther has been released from the Dallas County Jail.

***UPDATE: I had a bad feeling about this. The Dallas County Sheriff, Democrat Marion Brown, is now saying that because Mrs. Luther is being jailed for contempt of court, corrupt Judge Eric Moye’ must order her to be released. Also, Gov. Abbott does not have the authority to pardon someone who is being jailed for a contempt order.

This has now turned into a full-fledged Democrat attack on the State of Texas.

Do not be surprised if you read about the Governor sending Texas Rangers to the Dallas County Jail to force the release of this abused woman if Moye’ does not relent.

[End Update]

The Texas Supreme Court has now intervened in the ongoing travesty of justice in which salon owner Shelley Luther was sentence to 7 days in the Dallas County Jail by an overbearing Democrat judge. Late Thursday morning, Judge Eric Moye’ was ordered by the Supremes to release Ms. Luther from jail, where she was sentenced for contempt of court.

Image

The Supreme Court intervened after Texas Governor Greg Abbott amended his shut-down order to prohibit authoritarian judges like Moye’ from throwing people in jail, an unintended consequence that the Governor obviously failed to consider when he issued his hasty and clearly unconstitutional order in March.

“Throwing Texans in jail who have had their businesses shut down through no fault of their own is nonsensical, and I will not allow it to happen,” Abbott said in a statement, adding that his order is retroactive to April 2 and supersedes local directives. “As some county judges advocate for releasing hardened criminals from jail to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is absurd to have these business owners take their place.”

It is indeed absurd, but it is also fair to again point out that it was Abbott’s order that set up the conditions under which corrupt judges could engage in such abusive behavior. Abbott, along with governors all over the country, acted hastily and without real forethought in shutting down their respective economies on the pretense of “flattening the curve” of the Wuhan Virus in March. He took that action without the need for a 13-committee, 39-member “Strike Force” similar to the one he is using for political cover during his carefully-planned, phased reopening now.

One of the unintended consequences of that rash action is that Mrs. Luther, along with several other business owners in Texas, have been forced by abusive judges to spend time in jail under what is in all likelihood an illegal order to begin with. In Ms. Luther’s case, she has spent 2 nights in a jail in which more than 240 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed.

This is a travesty and a scandal, and it must never be allowed to happen again.

That is all.

Gov. Abbott Intervenes in Shelley Luther Case

This is what leadership looks like.

I decided not to cover this earlier in hopes Governor Abbott would decide to intervene, and sure enough, he just did.

Most are aware that a Dallas-area salon owner named Shelley Luther was sentenced to a week in prison yesterday by an abusive Dallas judge, after she defied Abbott’s order that her business was “non-essential” and opened it up briefly last week. Police intervened, cited her and ordered her to appear in court.

During her hearing on Tuesday, the judge in the case, State District Court Judge Eric Moye, agreed with her that the Governor’s order was technically unsupported by existing law. However, in a fit of pique after Luther emotionally told the judge she would not shut her salon down because she was trying to feed her children, the liberal circus clown – who was initially appointed to the bench by Texas’s last Democrat Governor, Ann Richards, in 1993 –  sentenced her to serve in a Dallas jail in which there have already been more than 200 cases of Wuhan Virus diagnosed.

That all happened late Tuesday afternoon, and I went to bed thinking that surely Governor Abbott would get involved here and act to reverse this idiotic decision, especially given the fact that, come 8:00 Friday morning, he is allowing salons like Luther’s to reopen all over the state.

Well, sure enough, at about 2:00 Wednesday, Governor Abbott issued this statement, which followed a previous statement issued by Attorney General Ken Paxton:

Image

Paxton had earlier sent a letter to Judge Moye demanding that Luther be released from jail. As of this writing on Wednesday afternoon, Moye had not yet acted. If he has not relented before the end of the day, millions of angry Texans will expect further intervention by Abbott and Paxton.

Hopefully, Governor Abbott has learned a key lesson here: That even in the Red state of Texas, there are plenty of Democrat despots sitting around just waiting for an opportunity to abuse the citizenry if you open the door for such abuse. It was Abbott’s order in March that opened that door. He should keep that reality in mind if we end up seeing a second round of this Chinese plague in the fall.

Stay Tuned.

Gov. Abbott: Texans Can Get a Haircut on Friday! Yee-hah!

The Evening Campaign Update

Yeeee-hah!!!! – In a press conference held Tuesday afternoon, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that a raft of additional businesses are fixin’ to be allowed to reopen on Friday, May 8. Those businesses include barbers, hair salons, cosmetologists and tanning salons. He also announced that gyms will be able to reopen on May 18, albeit at 25% capacity.

Excerpt from a report at the Texas Tribune website:

The businesses will be required to follow certain rules as the state continues to grapple with the coronavirus. Hairstylists will be able to work with only one customer at a time. People waiting in barber shops will have to maintain 6-foot separation or wait outside.

Meanwhile, gyms will be required to operate at a maximum of 25% of capacity. Showers and locker rooms will be closed, and equipment must be disinfected after each use.

Abbott acknowledged people may want to see another type of business reopen — bars — but said the state is still figuring out how they can do so safely and did not offer a timetable.

[End]

Finally, I’ll be able to go get my shaggy head trimmed up!

Of note, Governor Abbott’s announcement comes one day after Virginia Governor Ralph KKK Northam extended his own lockdown order through May 16. It also comes as Democrat governors in California, Michigan and Oregon, and Republicans in Alabama and Ohio are finding themselves under increasing pressure to relent on their own draconian orders.

In California, a city councilman has personally sued Gov. Newsom over his idiotic beach-closing order:

Newport Beach City Councilman Kevin Muldoon personally sued Gov. Gavin Newsom in federal court Monday over Newsom’s beach closures targeting Orange County.

Muldoon, a vocal proponent of lifting the weeks-long lockdown imposed to stem the coronavirus pandemic, filed the suit on his own behalf and was footing his own legal costs, he said. He called Newsom’s directive, handed down Thursday and put into effect the next day, unconstitutional.

Newsom’s order applies only toOrange County. A reopening date is unclear.

“Defendants have shown by their actions a willingness to ignore and to violate the fundamental civil rights of California residents,” the lawsuit reads. “Their actions … are persistent and capable of repetition unless they are enjoined by this court.”

[End]

In Michigan, the Detroit News published an editorial by its editorial board condemning Generalissimo Gretchen Whitmer for her rampant abuse of power and and endorsing the legislature’s decision to file a lawsuit against her:

Whitmer is attempting to assign a noble purpose for her unilateral power grab, saying she needed to continue her emergency powers to protect health care workers from being sued by COVID-19 patients.

But the Legislature Thursday approved a bill that would enshrine that immunity in law, proving lawmakers are capable of working with the governor to protect Michigan.

They had offered to grant her another short-term extension of her powers, with oversight. But she refused to accept any conditions that forced her to collaborate with lawmakers.

The Republican-controlled Legislature Thursday also passed resolutions authorizing the speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader to sue the governor.

That lawsuit should be filed ASAP.

From the beginning of her tenure, Whitmer has show disdain for both the law and regular-order governing, looking for every loophole to avoid dealing with the Legislature.

This time, she’s taken the state to a very dangerous place.

There’s no reasonable defense, in a representative democracy, for a governor to strip the legislative branch of its constitutional authority and assume dictatorial powers in perpetuity.

[End]

In Oregon, radical Alinskyite Governor Kate Brown eased some of her own abusive restrictions after coming under intense pressure in recent days:

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has announced a limited opening of some state parks, outdoor recreation facilities, and other areas for day use in a partial easing of restrictions put in place because of the coronavirus.

Officials say day-use will slowly return to other state parks starting next week. The popular Columbia River Gorge parks and recreation areas and coastal areas will remain closed for now. Brown says Oregonians should recreate responsibly.

[End]

What all of this is teaching us is something most Texans have known for all of our lives: We are damned lucky to live in the Lone Star State.

Thank you, Governor Abbott, and God Bless Texas.

That is all.

The Disturbing, Growing Rift Between Free States and Prison States

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

So, I’m sitting here on a Saturday morning contemplating the fact that our country is now at a point at which it has become normal for talking heads on TV and print commentators to talk about “free states” and “prison” or “lockdown states”. I did it myself in a piece the other day without even thinking about it.

At any other time in the last 150 years, this kind of discourse would have been shocking, but today it is part of the “new normal” that aspiring despots like Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer now talk about, echoing the kind of language Barack Obama used during his term to convince people to accept his own efforts to regulate every aspect of their daily lives.

It’s easy to tell which states are “free” or becoming more free, anyway, and which states are “prisons”: The Free States have Republican governors, and the Prison states, with a few exceptions like Ohio, are run by Democrats like Whitmer. This dichotomy between the governance by the two parties in this national emergency over a virus with a mortality rate well below 1% becomes increasingly stark with every passing week.

Friday, May 1 was a great example. In Texas, GOP Governor Greg Abbott moved to reopen a vast swath of businesses (with limited capacity restraints), state parks and the beaches along the Gulf Coast. On the very same day, Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom moved to close all state parks and beaches. As a result, free Texans flocked to local shopping malls or to reopened restaurants to enjoy their first meal out in six weeks, while thousands of imprisoned Californians staged a massive protest in the city of Huntington Beach:

Think about the brutish stupidity of that beach closing order: Given that we now know that heat and sunlight kill this virus, what better place for Southern Californians to spend time than on the damn beach? But Governor Newsom, acting on his fascist impulses, shuts the beaches down because he was personally “disturbed” by video of people enjoying a day in the sun earlier in the week.

Americans all over the country have clearly shown that they are willing to cooperate with restrictions to their freedoms that make sense in fighting the spread of this virus. But irrational nonsense like this and Gov. Whitmer’s ban on motor boats has got to stop.

If these Democrat governors do not begin to relent soon, and stop treating the rural residents of their states as if they all live in densely-populated Manhattan, the peaceful protests we have witnessed all over the country in the past few weeks will begin to turn more aggressive, possibly even violent. This is not something I’m encouraging: It’s simply an inevitable outcome of dictatorial governors insisting on continuing to deny people their constitutional rights.

Make no mistake about this: Each and every one of the lockdown orders issued by Republican and Democrat governors alike are blatant violations of individual rights. These governors – and various mayors and other local officials – can only maintain these orders so long as they are able to maintain control over their law enforcement agencies to enforce them. Already, we see this level of control beginning to crack.

We saw it in Houston last week, when associations of both Houston police officers and Harris County sheriff’s deputies made it known they would not try to enforce an abusive order made by the idiot county judge there. We saw it in Orange County, CA on Friday, where the sheriff issued a statement informing the public he would not attempt to enforce Gov. Newsom’s beach closing order.

Because, you see, law enforcement officials read the constitution, too, and they promise to uphold it when they are sworn into office. Just because some governor or mayor doesn’t give a damn about individual freedoms does not mean the local police chief or sheriff or head of the state police agency feels the same way.

We know enough about this viral plague brought to us by China and have enough effective treatment regimes in place now to move away from the “flatten the curve” stage to a “protect the vulnerable and treat the sick” stage. Hell, if these governors would just focus on dealing effectively with the nursing homes in their states, that would take care of half the problem. In Texas, the median age of those who have died from this virus is over 80. Let that sink in.

Everyone who has been paying attention and is not just a brain-dead outrage monkey on Twitter can clearly see that the time for these statewide, one-size-fits-all lockdowns has passed. The situation now calls for the aspiring South American junta leaders like Whitmer, Newsom and Ralph KKK Northam to stand down and engage in more thoughtful and intelligent governance, and to stop the systematic violation of the rights of their citizens.

It’s time for there to be no justification or need for any talking head to use the terms “Free state” and “Prison state” anymore. We’re supposed to be the United States, and dichotomies in governance like the ones we see continuing to grow over this virus cannot persist for long before they threaten to become permanent.

GOP States vs. Democrat States: The Differences are Very Clear

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

With Texas Governor Greg Abbott now moving fairly aggressively to reopen Texas and its economy (the 10th largest on earth), the differences in approach between Republican governors and Democrat governors are now becoming increasingly stark.

Abbott now joins Republican governors like Brian Kemp in Georgia, Henry McMaster in South Carolina, Ron DeSantis in Florida, Kristi Noem in South Dakota and Kevin Stitt in Oklahoma in lending a sense of urgency to getting businesses reopened and people back to work, rescinding stay-at-home orders in the process. Noem, along with Republican governors in 6 other states (Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Utah and Wyoming) in fact never even issued such an order for her state.

Unsurprisingly, not a single Democrat governor showed similar restraint. Democrats literally live for the chance to lord political power over common people, and the Wuhan Virus provided the best such opportunity most of them have ever had to do so. As New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy told Tucker Carlson with a smile on his face recently, he “wasn’t even thinking about the Bill of Rights” when he issued his own order, and there can be little doubt that most, if not all, other Democrat governors also never gave such arcane concepts as individual freedoms a second thought. Drs. Fauci and Birx had advised governors to use their judgment in ordering their people to stay at home, and by God, the judgment of every Democrat was to knee-jerk to such an order.

Today, as Republicans are now rescinding the orders they issued, here are the actions we have seen in recent days from Democrat governors around the country:

Virginia Governor Ralph KKK Coonman Northam – On April 15, he extended his order for the closure of “non-essential” businesses to May 8. On April 23, he extended his ban on “non-essential” surgeries for another week (there sure is a lot of “non-essential” stuff going on in Virginia, huh?). On March 31, he extended his stay-at-home order through June 10. Truly, this a man on a mission.

Michigan’s plastic-faced Strong-Woman Gretchen Whitmer – After earlier extending her stay-at-home order through May 15, announced on Monday that she wants the legislature to step in to further extend it for another 28 days. Whitmer claims to have the power to do this herself (power she has exercised, rightly or wrongly, already on several separate occasions) but after receiving pushback from members of both parties in the legislature, she is now looking for political cover.

California Governor Gavin Newsom – While Newsom has surprisingly performed fairly reasonably during this crisis – with notable exceptions, like getting burned when he purchased thousands of Chinese respirators that don’t work – it is important to note that his own stay-at-home order doesn’t even have a planned expiration date. In mid-April, he rolled out 6 requirements that must be met in order for him to begin rolling that order back. As of today, those requirements have not been met, and aren’t likely to be met anytime soon.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom WolfExtended his stay-at-home order through May 8.

New Jersey Governor Phil MurphyOn Monday announced that his own indefinite stay-at-home order would remain in place “until further notice.” At the same time, he outlined a gradual plan for reopening that hinges almost entirely on the current false media narrative about “more testing.” In other words, he’s really enjoying this exercise of authoritarian power and has no plans to give it up anytime soon.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo – What can you say about this guy? His feckless lack of leadership and preparation have been largely responsible for this outbreak across the United States, and the media-directed national panic that led to so many needless draconian restrictions across the country, as governors of both parties failed to realize that their states were not like New York, not at all. Cuomo still, to this day, has not shut down the petri dishes on rails that are New York City’s subway cars. To. This. DAY. He got caught short on ventilators because, in 2015, he made the decision to forego buying 15,000 of them at bargain prices, spending the money instead on nebulous “climate change” nonsense. He has utterly and completely failed to protect senior citizens living in the state’s nursing homes, which have been the centers for a huge portion of New York’s massive COVID-19 death toll.

Naturally, Cuomo’s performance in this pandemic has made him a folk hero to the corrupt news media and most Democrat voters, and he is a virtual shoe-in to be re-elected to an unprecedented fourth term in office this November, 2022.

Holy crap.

It’s hard to be optimistic about America’s future when voters keep electing and re-electing Democrats to positions of power. Granted, Republicans aren’t a hell of a lot better, but as we have seen during this epidemic given to us by the ChiComs, they at least exhibit some level of respect for the rights of their citizens, and observe the need to take those into consideration while also taking actions necessary to protect the public.

Where the respective governors of each party are concerned, the contrasts in approach are in fact very stark and unambiguous.

Keep that in mind when you cast your votes in November.

That is all.

Houston Restaurant Proves Texans Have Grown Weary With Their Politicians

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Texans are growing weary of their state’s stay-at-home orders and putting people out of business and jobs. Few are growing more weary of these patently unconstitutional orders than the law enforcement personnel who are tasked by craven county judges, mayors and a weak Governor to enforce those edicts.

We discussed the pushback that Harris County’s child County Judge, Lina Hidalgo, received Wednesday when she issued an order that all residents of the county of 4 million must wear a mask anytime they go out into public. That order was met by immediate responses from Houston police and Harris County sheriff’s deputies associations blasting the Judge and advising their members to refuse to destroy their relationships with the public by enforcing such an absurd, draconian and likely illegal edict.

Today, we have this very important story out of Houston:

Excerpt:

Harris County law enforcement officials backed down as the owner of the Federal American Grill decided to re-open his restaurant on the city’s west side despite orders directing restaurants to be closed except for curbside orders. Multiple law enforcement agencies in Houston said they were not responsible for enforcing the ordinance.

“We’ve complied 100 percent until now,” Brice told the Houston Chronicle. “What I don’t like is that the government is picking and choosing which businesses win or lose. They are sinking the economy. We have to stand our ground and get people back to work.”

After he announced the re-opening of his restaurant for dining-in, customers flocked to his side. Brice said he is only seating up to 30 percent of his capacity in order to maintain social distancing.

In contrast to Dallas, Houston law enforcement officials chose to not enforce the prohibition against in-house dining at the restaurant.

“No law enforcement officers or agencies attempted to stop or cite Brice for defying Harris County’s stay-at-home order, which limits restaurants to delivery and takeout orders in an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus,” the Houston Chronicle wrote.

The Houston newspaper contacted several police agencies including the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Fire Marshal, Precinct 5 Constable’s Office, and the Houston Police Department. Each said that a different agency was responsible for enforcement of the to-go or curbside only orders.

In contrast, law enforcement officials in Dallas ticketed the owner of a hair salon after she re-opened in defiance of Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins’ stay-home order, Breitbart Texas reported.

So, these brave owners of one Houston’s hundreds of fine restaurants have decided to reopen their doors, and the various city and county law enforcement agencies have so far avoided confronting them by passing the buck. What will happen when the owners of those other restaurants, having observed the lack of enforcement, decide to follow suit?

Why, if the refusal to enforce the stupid orders keeps up, people might even eventually be able to get a haircut again, as salon owners inevitably join the trend. Oh, guess what? People are already getting haircuts in Georgia and Colorado, whose Republican (GA) and Democrat (CO) governors aren’t as afraid of their own shadows as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. Oh, yeah, and the GOP governors on South Carolina, Nebraska and Oklahoma have also decided to exercise real leadership in their own reopenings.

Abbott, of course, is waiting on approval from his “strike force” consisting of no fewer than 13 committees and subcommittees before taking any action that might put people back to work, reopen businesses and allow people to eat out and have elective surgeries. As a reminder, the Governor didn’t need a single committee at all to convince him to take away people’s jobs, destroy thousands of Texas businesses and basically shut down the state’s hospitals – but for the roughly 1,400 beds in a state of 28 million being used for COVID-19 patients – back in March.

Funny how that works. And Abbott, remember, is a Republican.

The owners of the Federal American Grille are the canaries in Abbott’s coal mine, the first droplets in a very large tsunami coming his way if he doesn’t get his butt in gear and start putting this state back to work. The Governor will hold another “news” conference on Monday. If he doesn’t have some real, bold “news” to report at that conference in terms of putting Texans back to work, he is likely to have a state filled with peaceful civil disobedience on his hands by Friday.

The Texas GOP had better wake up before it loses the state entirely. Saturday afternoon, President Donald Trump issued this tweet:

He may as well have been talking directly to Gov. Abbott.

That is all.

Warning: Wednesday Saw a Major Shift in Shut-Down Messaging

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Fair warning: There will be no v-shaped recovery for the U.S. economy. That is the only conclusion that can be drawn from the narrative that was rolled out at Wednesday evening’s press conference at the White House.

If we are lucky, there will be a u-shaped recovery, but the horizontal part of that u just keeps getting longer if President Trump and the nation’s governors continue to allow the government to be run based on NIH and CDC opinions and statistical models that have proven to be disastrously wrong every step of the way. Last night at the White House, it was obvious that these medical professionals and their models continue to hold absolute sway over the President’s policy agenda.

This is a President who barely a week ago was raring to get this economy back up and running, promising that it would be quick and that economic growth would return in no time. In press conferences throughout the first two weeks of this month, he appeared to be signaling to governors – especially Republicans – that the time had come for them to proceed as quickly as they deemed to be safe to get businesses in their states open again.

Last night, President Trump took great pains to call out Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, a Republican, for moving too fast. He literally threw the guy under the bus of the federal government, and that’s a very large and powerful bus.

Careful observers who have taken the time necessary to gain an understanding of how he communicates – which would, of course, exclude each and every corrupt member of the White House press corps – know that he very rarely says anything without an intended purpose behind it. The obvious purpose behind his going out of his way to slam Governor Kemp last night was to send a signal to other governors to slow down. And you can be sure that timid governors like Greg Abbott in Texas, who set up a “strike force” consisting of no fewer than 13 committees and subcommittees in order to cover his butt politically, will only be too happy to oblige.

The other sudden shift in messaging that took place last night was the dominant message about the absolute certainty of another outbreak of this gift from the communist Chinese government coming this fall. That came not just from Drs. Fauci and Birx, but also from CDC Director Robert Redfield. This topic in fact dominated the first half hour of the briefing. That was not an accident.

The implications of this are ominous, to say the least, since this new narrative now provides power-grabbing governors like Gretchen Whitmer (MI), Phil Murphy (NJ), Ralph KKK Northam (VA) and others with more justification to crack down on their respective populations even further, and to keep their edicts in place at least through the end of 2020. You should expect them and other governors now move to crack down on demonstrators who continue to exercise their constitutional rights of peaceful assembly and free speech.

All of this over a virus whose mortality rate may be lower than the common, seasonal flu according to the most current data.

Amazing.

It’s amazing how easily and timidly we have allowed our freedoms to slip away. Churches and synagogues remain closed all across the country. How many of them will be able to survive, given that they all are in fact business operations that have bills to pay.

Schools remain closed at least until September and maybe longer than that, even though we know that this bug poses a real risk to almost no one under the age of 30 or so. Even if we allow them to reopen in June, half of this country’s restaurants are going to disappear, along with their thousands of jobs. The list of the economic carnage deriving from this doctor-led government decision making goes on and on and on.

Now, take a look at this:

Regardless of how many “stimulus” bills congress passes, they cannot prevent the absolute carnage that is inevitable in our economy unless we move quickly to restart it. And the truth that no one in government is telling you right now is that they can only continue to try to mask the economic carnage with these debt-funded bills for maybe another month or two. After that, you and your cities and states are going to be on your own. Food lines like this are going to be coming to your city soon, if they haven’t already appeared.

Check this out:

And this:

These are just samples of the tools various levels of government know they will have to begin using in earnest to control your behavior once the economic devastation can no longer be masked. If that doesn’t scare the hell out of you, what will? What’s it gonna take?

By the way, I wear a mask every time I go anywhere, which these days is pretty much limited to the grocery store. I recommend everyone else do the same. I do that because it seems to make good common sense, and I will again remind you all that barely 2 weeks ago, the Democrats and corrupt media toadies were screaming that the very same masks that they are mandating today were not effective in preventing the spread of this Wuhan Virus.

We lose ~40,000 Americans every year to car accidents, and it would be a great idea if everyone wore helmets and kevlar vests every time we get into a car. But I don’t see the government mandating anyone do that because the economic costs would be too high. So all those lives continue to be lost each year and nobody blinks.

Or hey, it would be much safer and “save lives” if everyone just quit driving. But the government doesn’t mandate that because of the economic carnage that would cause.

Oh. But what about that “it’s worth it if it saves just one life” talking point we keep hearing? Why doesn’t that apply here? Think about it.

We lose ~40-60,000 people a year to the seasonal flu, mainly because those nifty vaccines Fauci and Bill Gates keep touting don’t work. But nobody at the NIH or the CDC says we should mandate wearing masks to prevent those deaths from happening. So all those lives continue to be lost each year and nobody blinks.

Again, isn’t it worth it if it saves just one life? Guess not.

How many kids die or are severely injured on trampolines each year? But they keep dying and nobody blinks. This could go on and on.

We have a choice in our society: We can either learn to live with this virus and focus on treating the ill, as we have learned to live with and treat the seasonal flu, or we can see our economy and thus our society collapse. That is our choice as a people, and at the moment it appears that those in favor of bringing about societal collapse are carrying the day, all the way up to the White House.

Amazing.

That is all.

There’s Big Trouble in Houston as the Leftist County Judge Goes off the Rails

The Evening Campaign Update – Early Edition

This just couldn’t wait another couple of hours. In the 2018 election, the people of Harris County – the home county for the City of Houston – made the idiotic decision to deny another term to Ed Emmett, one of the finest County Judges who ever served in that capacity anywhere in Texas. Instead, in their not-so-infinite wisdom, Harris County voters elevated a 27 year-old Soros disciple named Lina Hidalgo to the position of leading a county with a population of roughly 4.6 million people.

Today, the tab for that massive bit of mindless stupidity came due, as young Ms. Hidalgo decided that it would be a great idea to lord her power over the public, now making it a crime to go outside without a mask covering their nose and mouth. Thus have Democrats now, in the span of just a few weeks, gone from screaming that masks are not an effective deterrent to the spread of the Wuhan Virus to making the lack of having one covering your face a criminal act punishable by a fine or arrest.

From a Houston Chronicle report on the Judge’s draconian edict:

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo on Wednesday will order residents to cover their faces in public, county officials with knowledge of the plan said, the latest effort by local government to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The new rules, which will require residents 10 and older to cover the nose and mouth when outside the home, will take effect Monday and last 30 days, three county officials said. Acceptable garments include a homemade mask, scarf, bandana or handkerchief. Medical masks or N-95 respirators are not recommended as they are most needed by first responders and health workers.

[End]

First, let’s note that Hidalgo issued this edict less than 24 hours after Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner informed the public that the city of 4 million had recorded only about 20 new cases of the Wuhan Virus on Tuesday, and no one had died from it.

The big question now becomes, who is going to enforce this order, because both the Harris County Deputies’ Organization and the Houston Police Officers’ Union have weighed in to question the order and indicate they would urge their members not to waste their time enforcing it.

Image may contain: text

Image may contain: text

This is a community whose law enforcement officers are already stressed to the max thanks to recent actions by Democrat judges to refuse to sentence many violent offenders to prison time, releasing them back into the community to commit more mayhem. As HPOU President Joe Gamaldi notes in his letter above, “Violent crime is up this year (murders up by 35%), property crime is up (burglaries by nearly 30%), and HPD officers are staffing testing centers across the city. We do not have time to be pawns in Hidalgo’s game of attempting to control the actions of law abiding, tax paying individuals of our community. Especially since this idiotic order, is possibly an unconstitutional one, from the County Judge.”

It is fair to note that Texas’s Republican Governor, the increasingly disappointing Greg Abbott, has the authority to step in and overrule Hidalgo’s edict, as does Attorney General Ken Paxton, who could quickly rule it to be unconstitutional. But Abbott’s lack of leadership over the past couple of weeks as he scrambles to cover his butt politically leaves Texans pretty much hopeless that he will do anything here. Paxton is a different story, though, and it would not be surprising if he were to decide to step in with a quick ruling, if for no other reason than to provide even more political cover for the hapless Governor.

In any event, there’s trouble, right there in the Bayou City.

That’s trouble with a “T”, and it rhymes with “D” and that stands for depraved, demented, despicable, disgraceful Democrats.

GOP Governor Greg Abbott Disappoints With a Timid Reopening Plan for Texas

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

In a series of Executive Orders issued on Friday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott laid out the initial aspects of his plan for re-opening the Texas economy. The plan will be managed by what Gov. Abbott is calling a “statewide strike force” chaired by Austin banker James Huffines. If these initial steps and the governor’s statements about them are any indication, the reopening in red-state Texas will be little different than the process in many blue states around the country.

First what the Governor did do:

– He allows all retail businesses to reopen, but most will be limited to “drive-up” shopping – where customers place orders over the phone or online and then pick the merchandise up at the curb outside the store – or delivery;

– He left all public and private schools closed for the remainder of the school year, with a target for reopening in August for the fall semester;

– He reopened all state parks beginning on Monday, but with the same social distancing restrictions in place;

– He loosened restrictions on medical appointments and elective procedures, which will be a godsend to the mostly-empty hospitals around the state, many of which have had to lay off workers due to lack of activity;

– He said that updates on places that host large gatherings, like restaurants, churches and entertainment venues, will come “later.”

All of which is in line with the guidelines coming out of the Trump Coronavirus Task Force, which is fine. Sadly, these actions will do precious little to begin restoring the jobs and livelihoods of the hundreds of thousands of Texans who have been thrown out of work by the government’s response to the Wuhan Virus.

The disappointment comes in the lack of any effort whatsoever to distinguish Texas, which has had far fewer cases of the Wuhan Virus than much smaller states on the East and West Coasts and even Louisiana, from the approaches that will be taken by those other states. For example, why no attempt to treat the 100+ Texas counties who have had 5 or fewer cases of the virus differently than the big-city epicenters of Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin? 64 counties have reported ZERO cases of COVID-19. Why continue the absurd situation in which residents of small communities with names like Skidmore and Papalote and Poteet and Post and Troy remain subject to stay-at-home restrictions that make no real sense in their communities?

That latter may be more of a criticism of the Trump Task Force, which promised to deliver geographically-targeted guidelines but so far has not done so. But let’s also admit that 8 governors, all Republicans like Abbott, have never issued a stay-at-home order for their states. So, the President has certainly given governors a lot of leeway in dealing with these guidelines.

But that’s a leeway that Gov. Abbott was unwilling on Friday to take advantage of for his state. Equally as disappointing was the Governor’s apparent failure to attempt to balance his ongoing restrictions and mandated deprivations with the fundamental rights of all citizens. Indeed, in his statement on the orders, he laid out only two factors that would influence his decision-making:

“This [reopening] will be driven by two things: what our medical team advises and what the data shows,” Abbott said.

If it’s disturbing when a Democrat governor like New Jersey’s Phil Murphy admits he “wasn’t thinking about the bill of rights” when issuing his own draconian shutdown orders, it is perhaps even more disturbing when the Republican Governor of Texas admits he won’t be thinking about the fundamental rights of all Americans as he moves timidly forward to reopen his state. At least give it some lip service, Governor.

With protests now beginning to spring up in Michigan, Colorado, Minnesota, California, Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Virginia over the deprivations of rights of assembly, speech and religion by the Democrat governors in those states, it is only a matter of time before we see similar protest actions begin to take place in many red states as well. Abbott was sued on Friday by a group of pastors on the grounds that the Governor’s edicts violate the religious liberties of their parishioners, a contention that is manifestly true.

Yes, the governors in Texas and other states do possess extraordinary powers during declared emergencies, powers that are important for them to possess when fast decisions must be made to save lives. But there is no real “emergency” in the vast majority of the state of Texas. The seasonal flu has taken hundreds more Texas lives than the Wuhan Virus will, but there was no similar declaration of any emergency. Texas has seen 459 Wuhan Virus related deaths thus far; yet, we lose roughly 3,600 people every year to car accidents without reacting by closing down a single business or school or highway in response.

Texans like me expected more from Gov. Abbott on Friday, in large part because he has always done a fine job of delivering so much more for Texas during his time as the state’s Attorney General and Governor. Hopefully he will use the weekend to give some real thought to the fundamental rights of his citizens and start delivering more come Monday.

That is all.

The Race to Plan to Re-Open America is Suddenly On

The Evening Campaign Update

Now the race is on
And here comes pride in the backstretch
Heartaches goin’ to the inside
My tears are holdin’ back, they’re tryin’ not to fall

My hearts out of the runnin’
True love’s scratched for another’s sake
The race is on and it looks like heartaches
And the winner loses all

By the great George Jones

Don’t look now, but we suddenly have a competition between the governors of major U.S. states to see who can come up with plans to re-open their economies and schools the fastest. Note that I did not say it is a race actually re-open those things: Just a race to create plans and thus assume control of the process.

And it isn’t just the governors competing among themselves: The President also got involved on Monday in staking out his own turf.

Here is where the race has gone thus far:

– I wrote on Friday evening about Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s plan to issue an executive order this week laying out his vision for a process to re-open the businesses and schools in the Lone Star State;

– On Monday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was joined by the governors of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island and Connecticut in announcing a regional effort to coordinate the re-openings of their economies and schools;

– Also on Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom said that he is coordinating a similar regional re-opening strategy with the Democrat governors of Oregon and Washington.

Suddenly, the race is on, and you can  rest assured that President Donald J. Trump is not going to be left behind. The President also took action on Monday, formally naming the members of his Re-Opening America Task Force. As reported by Fox News, those members are:

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Purdue, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette, Labor Secretary Gene Scalia, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, and acting director of the Office of Management and Budget Russ Vought.

The task force is also expected to include acting chair of the Council of Economic Advisors Tom Philipson and White House advisers Larry Kudlow, Peter Navarro, Chris Liddell, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.

The President also let the various Governors know that he believes he and his advisors will be the ultimate authorities over the process of re-opening the country, sending out the following tweets:

Naturally, in response to those two tweets by the President, all the same liberals and corrupt reporters who have spent the last 2 months attempting to hold Mr. Trump responsible for every failure by every state governor suddenly have become fans of federalism! Funny how that works, huh?

Of course, the most salient point in the President’s tweets is the final sentence: “A decision by me, in conjunction with the Governors and input from others, will be made shortly!”

What this means is that the Governors can and should be doing all the appropriate planning they want to do with their states, but the decision about whether and when to modify and/or lift the federal planning guidelines that all 50 states are currently functioning under – given that every one of them is, for the first time in U.S. history, benefiting from a federal disaster declaration – will be made by the President of the United States as required by law.

[UPDATE: Vice President Pence reinforced the fact that the President does have almost unlimited powers when the country is functioning under a 50-state declared national emergency at tonight’s Task Force press conference.]

Thus, the race between the governors to see who can come up with a plan the fastest is on, but the guy with the starter’s pistol to be used to actually begin the re-opening of America lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Because America.

That is all.

HUGE: Gov. Greg Abbott Preparing Order to Begin Re-Opening Texas Businesses

The Evening Campaign Update

Living in Texas is a blessing in so many ways. One of the best of those ways has been to enjoy the blessings of a state run by Republicans for the last 26 years, and current Governor Greg Abbott is proving in many ways to be the best of them.

At a news conference today, Gov. Abbott announced that he will be among the first governors in the nation to issue an executive order to authorize businesses in our state shut down due to the Wuhan Virus to begin re-opening as soon as next week. Texas has been blessed to have been fairly lightly hit by the virus, with most of its counties outside of the major population centers experiencing either no cases or just a handful. Even the state’s huge cities, like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, have been extremely lightly impacted compared to cities in other states.

Like President Donald Trump, Abbott promises the reopening will be strategically done in order to protect human life, and will no doubt include measures like self-quarantining by those who are most vulnerable to the virus. But the existence of a clearly effective treatment regime, thanks to the hydroxychloroquine/zinc combination, and social distancing measures that can be practiced by those in the workplace now make it possible for states to begin shifting from a shelter-in-place strategy to a quarantine-plus-treatment approach.

Here is an excerpt from a Fox News story on the matter:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Friday he plans to sign an executive order next week outlining guidelines for how businesses in the state can start to reopen after being shut down over coronavirus.

“Next week I will be providing an executive order talking about what will be done in Texas about reopening Texas businesses,” Abbott said during a Friday news conference, saying it will be done “in a way that will be safe for that economic revitalization.”

WHO IS GREG ABBOTT? HERE ARE 4 FACTS ABOUT TEXAS’ GOVERNOR

He added: “We will focus on protecting lives while restoring livelihoods. We can and we must do this,”

[End]

As President Trump has consistently emphasized, a strategy designed to safely reopen the nation’s economy will not involve a one-size-fits-all timeline. Texas, in large part to its advanced emergency management practices that have evolved from decades of practice dealing with major storm, fire, drought and hurricane events, has been able to weather this latest storm better than most.

This successful addressing of the front-end of this pandemic now positions the Lone Star State to be on the leading edge of the coming recovery – and make no doubt about it: The recovering is coming.

God Bless Texas, God Bless Gov. Abbott and God Bless America on this Good Friday.

That is all.

The Week in Review: Beto, Biden and Bribes, Oh My!

The Campaign Update Week in Review
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

The Week in Review, courtesy of the @GDBlackmon Twitter Feed…

The week began with the loss of an hour’s sleep due to our annual national act of Daylight Savings Time insanity, and it just went down from there.:

The sponsor of the “Green New Deal” was among fellow Climate Frauds in Austin on Sunday, and she got a selfie with one of the biggest frauds of all.:

This is, like, what AOC, like, sounds like when she….ummm…like, goes off script.:

Meanwhile, things continued to crumble out in Los Angeles…:

He isn’t often right, but he’s right about this.:

Greg Budell had the perfect solution for young Americans who favor turning our country into just another socialist cesspit of human misery.:

Fox News’s Tucker Carlson again became a target of the social media outrage mob when the scumbags at Media Matters dug up some comments he’d made on a talk radio program a decade ago. His response should serve as the role model for anyone caught up in such nonsense in the future.:

It’s always fun watching an old cowboy whipping a young thug’s ass, complete with taking his shirt.:

The fake news never stops at CNN, and Little Jimmy Acosta continues to be the most tireless yet least effective news-faker in the business.:

This bit of truth cannot be repeated often enough.:

Oh. Uh, wouldn’t that be, like, collusion or something?:

How many dead elderly Americans do you reckon polled to come to the conclusion that they aren’t happy?:

This man is seriously considering running for president. No, seriously, he really is.:

Think about it: You know it’s true.:

Man, that’s gonna make it a lot harder for the people at NOAA to keep defrauding the global temperature records.:

Is this even an arguable point? China is the world’s second-largest economy, and it is still taking money from the World Bank? Holy crap, we are such a bunch of suckers.:

She. Did. Not. Rule. Out. Impeachment.:

When the media refuses to correctly identify the root cause of the problem (in this case, Democrats) the problem will only continue to grow.:

A couple of true geniuses passed away this week. First, Dan Jenkins, probably the greatest and funniest sports writer who ever lived, died at the age of 94. Then, Hal Blaine, an incomparable studio drummer, joined Jenkins in the afterlife.:

Mitt Romney had a birthday, and all that did was remind us of his failings.:

It was a week when the Democrats really ramped-up their obsession with political losers.:

The truth about AOC emerged, and it really helped make sense of everything she says and does. If you haven’t taken the 23 minutes required to watch this expose’, make time to do it. You’ll be glad you did.:

Oh, well, call me insecure, then. *sigh*:

Pretty sure that’s also a piece of AOC’s “Green New Deal.” Isn’t sewer water generally green?:

Here, I try to educate some fake reporter who is lying about his interactions with folks from the oil and gas industry. I no doubt failed.:

Just thought you all should know this.:

Here I capture the essence of today’s Federal Bureau of Investigation.:

Well, I would.:

Here is leading Climate Fraud Bill McKibben, promoting what amounts to nothing more or less than mass child abuse.:

And now we pause for a little cat comedy gold.:

Ok, this intermission is going to last just a little longer…:

In other news, water continues to be wet.:

This was not the best piece I’ve ever written, but it might well be the cleverest headline.:

Self-awareness continues to be a personal weakness for Fauxcahontas.:

Ben Shapiro captured the pure essence of the media’s approach to writing Beto profiles.:

There are just so many unattractive options where Irish Bob O’Rourke is concerned.:

Seriously, was there still anyone out there who didn’t already know this?:

Try, just try, to imagine how utterly worthless a degree from NYU truly is.:

Well, of course he did.:

When his campaign comes up a crapper, he can replace Matthew McConaughey in those Lincoln ads.:

If you don’t follow Nick Searcy on Twitter, you are truly missing out on the fun.:

I got up in a sour mood on Friday. CNN only made it worse.:

Just hours after swearing we were all gonna die if we don’t stop using gasoline, Irish Bob was begging donors to pay to fill up his gas-guzzling minivan. You seriously cannot make this stuff up.:

No question about this.:

David Corn needs better talking points. This is just too easy.:

This happened.:

Now, for another funny break.:

When Chelsea Clinton was harassed by a Muslim college student, various conservatives rushed to her defense on Twitter. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why. But then, I never cared much for virtue signaling.:

This is self-serving, but hey, it’s my blog.:

I always was a big fan of The Who.:

Those two options are not mutually-exclusive.:

Here, I offer a little free advice to Senator Ted Cruz.  I wish he’d take it – he’d be doing a national service.:

The clearest proof that “Climate Change” is a socialist-promoting scam is that its most prominent spokesmen are invariably people who don’t make any effort at all to change their own lifestyles.:

Finally, I’m a huge fan of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, but every once in a while he gets something wrong.:

I Am Shocked – Shocked! – To Learn of Democrat Voter Fraud Happening in Texas!

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Texas Democrats everywhere are wondering why this is a problem as they write down names off of tombstones to get them registered, too.  – The Texas Democrat Party has allegedly been sending out voter registration cards to illegal immigrants with the citizenship box already checked “yes”, according to multiple complaints filed with the Texas Secretary of State’s office.

Even better, according to the report in the Washington Times, “The applications were pre-addressed to elections officials, which is likely what left many voters to believe they were receiving an official communication from the state.  But the return address was from the State Democratic Executive Committee, and listed an address in Austin that matches the state Democratic Party’s headquarters.”

Anyone who thinks this is anything unusual in Texas has never lived in Texas.  Were it not for this kind of Democrat-organized voter fraud effort, Lyndon Johnson would have never been anything more than a teacher at some backwater school in the Texas Hill Country.

And hey, it’s not limited to illegal aliens in the state – it’s a Democrat tradition to go after all the dead voters, too, because, after all, there are no dead Republicans in Texas.  “Sam Taylor, spokesman for Texas’s secretary of state, said they heard from people whose relatives were receiving mail despite having passed away 10 years ago or longer. One woman said her child, who’d been dead 19 years, got a mailing asking to register.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said he would order an investigation, and “If true there will be serious consequences,” but Texans have heard such promises from Texas governors going all the way back to the 1948 senate race between LBJ and Coke Stevenson and the infamous “Box 13” incident, and seldom seen any real results.  This is just what Democrats do down here – they believe they’re entitled.

Speaking of entitled Democrats… – Irish Bob O’Rourke was given an hour of free air time by CNN last night, because with CNN’s ratings, all the air time might as well be free these days. More people were watching re-runs of SpongeBob SquarePants than tuned into see the fawning CNN fake journalists pepper Irish Bob with Nerf ball questions like “Why are you so darn handsome?”, and “We know you aren’t really Hispanic, but you would be if you could, right?”  Ok, I just made those up, but the actual questions weren’t any harder.

Next Monday, President Trump will be in Houston doing a rally for Ted Cruz.  That’ll be shown on Fox News, where a 300% larger audience tunes in each night.

You do have to give Irish Bob credit, though: He has the most tireless fundraising machine ever seen in Texas politics.  My poor little wifey received no fewer than six fundraising calls from his campaign yesterday alone, every one of them from a different number.  They quit calling me a month ago after I told one of them to “kiss my a**”.

This guy has raised more than $60 million in a Texas senate race, where winning candidates of the past have spent less than $20 million, and he still wants more.  No wonder all those other losing Democrat senate candidates are angry at him for refusing to share the wealth a little bit.  After all, the Democrats are openly admitting they are the Socialist party now after decades of pretending not to be, so a little redistribution of the wealth and control of the means of production seems to be in order here. But Irish Bob is having none of it – the money is his, all his.

He’s entitled.

But…but…but…we have been assured by our fake news media that this is not happening! – The Associated Press, believe it or not, is actually reporting on the fact that a South African city is openly seizing land from private landowners with zero compensation in what is being called a “national test case” for adopting land seizures as a formal national policy.

The city council of Ekurhuleni – which, with 4 million people is the size of Houston – voted to move ahead with the stealing of hundreds of acres of land without compensating the landowners in what the AP refers to as a “legal tool that the ruling African National Congress says is necessary to correct the historic injustices of apartheid and distribute land more equitably.”

In other words, the landowners are white, and those seizing the land are black, which is why our fake news media has refused to cover the story.  This has in fact been going on for years in more rural areas of the country, with many landowners being murdered in the process, but suddenly the AP wakes up and decides, I guess, that because it is happening in one of South Africa’s larger cities, it is worth covering.

Journalism is truly a dead profession in this country.

That is all.

The Fakest Fake News This Week Comes From an Unexpected Source

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Hey, remember that “Blue Wave” that was going to carry Irish Beto O’Rourke to a smashing victory over Ted Cruz in November?. – Yeah, that’s not really a thing, no matter how much some desperate media mavens in Texas want it to happen.  The Blue Wave media lobby’s hopes were raised back in early April when Quinnipiac University issued a poll purporting to show the race between Irish Beto and Cruz within the margin of error, with Cruz holding just a 47-44 lead.

But a new Quinnipiac poll issued on Wednesday now pegs Cruz’s lead at a much more believable 51-40, which is likely within a point or two of where it will end up finishing in November.  The same poll has Texas Governor Greg Abbott holding a whopping 19 point edge over the latest poor soul the Democrat Party nominated to be its sacrificial lamb this fall, former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez.  This is a dramatic 10-point uptick for Abbott since the April poll.  Abbott defeated Democrat Wendy Davis by almost 20 percent of the vote four years ago, and other than wishful thinking on the part of the media and the professional political class in Austin, there is no real reason to believe Sheriff Valdez will improve on that performance in any substantial way.

Speaking of Greg Abbott, it’s not even 2 weeks down the road from the tragic school shootings in Santa Fe, Texas, and the Texas Governor has already spearheaded an effort to develop a plan to provide upgraded security and mental health screening at the state’s public schools.  The total cost of the plan is $110 million – the majority of which can be funded with existing federal grants – and the great preponderance of the measures it contains should be implemented by the start of the next school year in mid-August.

Naturally, media stories “reporting” on the plan went out and copiously quoted Ms. Valdez and other Democrats and teacher’s union reps who knee-jerked in opposition, but they’re just lost voices wandering the woods as the adults in the state go about trying to provide better protection for the state’s school children.  Because most Texans tend to like leaders who actually exercise leadership rather than just point fingers and criticize.  One would think Texas Democrats would eventually figure this out, but one would apparently be wrong.

God Bless Texas.

Fakest #fakenews of the week, and it’s not from CNN, NBC, the NYTimes or the WaPo?  Can this be true? – Yes, it is true, and the story comes from the Wall Street Journal.

The fakery starts with the story’s headline:  “‘Tropical Messiah’: A Trump-Style Politician Is Mexican Presidential Front Runner”, and only goes downhill from there.  The subject of the story is the race for the presidency in Mexico in general and specifically on the guy who is going to win, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.  The WSJ spells Mr. Obrador’s name correctly, and that’s where the story begins to break down.

At one point, the story describes Obrador as a “leftist nationalist”, hardly the path being followed by U.S. President Trump, who has governed as the most conservative chief executive in modern times.  Guess who else was a “leftist nationalist”:  the late Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez.  Oh, and the guy who succeeded Chavez, Nicolas Maduro.  These guys were role models for Barack Obama, not Donald Trump.  Those guys are also responsible for turning what was a thriving and prosperous Venezulean economy into a socialist misery pit.

Like every other person who has run for the Mexican presidency as the drug cartels have risen in power over the last 30 years, Obrador promises to rid the nation of …wait for it… the drug cartels!  Great idea – tell us how socialism is going to accomplish that.

Frightfully, Obrador has also hinted that he will also re-nationalize the nation’s oil industry, just as Mexico, under the leadership of current President Enrique Pena Nieto, has begun to really benefit from the opening of the industry to foreign investment that took place in 2013.  A re-nationalization and seizure of assets of private investors will ensure that no company will be willing to invest in Mexico’s economy again for decades to come.

The authors of the otherwise fawning profile even appear to recognize this reality with the following passage:

“Foreign investors are nervous about Mr. López Obrador’s plans to reassess Mexico’s opening to private investment in the country’s oil industry, which is expected to bring $150 billion to the energy sector. They also worry about his threats to cancel Mexico City’s multibillion [dollar] new airport, currently under construction.

Such talk reminds many Mexicans of President Luis Echeverría, who governed Mexico in the 1970s. Mr. Echeverría combined import-substitution policies, sharply increased government spending and socialist rhetoric. The story ended badly: Inflation skyrocketed and the government devalued the peso for the first time in 22 years.”

Yes, and it is inevitable that this story will end badly as well, because that story – as with the story currently playing out in Venezuela – is in fact the inevitable outcome of the implementation of the socialist, command-and-control policies that Obrador’s election will inevitably bring to the country.

How the story’s authors see any of this as being similar to the story playing out in America today – a story in which the U.S. economy is booming thanks to the overtly anti-socialist policies being implemented by Donald Trump – is simply mind-boggling.

The story playing out in Mexico’s presidential election right now is a tragic one, one that does not deserve the fantasy-based, kid glove treatment of Obrador provided by the Wall Street Journal.

Just another day in the fake news comes from all directions America.

It Was Border Security Action Week at the White House

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

I had no idea this was a thing. – As I sit here writing this piece, Fox & Friends is carrying a report of a pregnant mother who got mad at her little kid when he popped her “gender reveal” balloon.  Yes, friends, there is apparently such a thing as “gender reveal” balloons.  The balloon in the video is a huge black thing that, when the little kid popped it, was revealed to be filled with pink confetti.

If I understand this “report” correctly, the young mother was on her way to an actual, real “gender reveal” party – which is also apparently a thing now – where the idea would be to pop the damn balloon and fill someone else’s home with that gross pink confetti as her means of letting everyone know she would be giving birth to a girl.  What, you couldn’t just send everyone an email?

My goodness.

Well, that escalated quickly. – In Thursday’s Campaign Update, I advised you all that the ordering of National Guard troops to help patrol the southern border would not be the only executive action President Trump would take to beef up border security.  One additional action I told you to expect him to take was to rescind the order by George W. Bush that implemented the so-called “catch and release” policy, which forces immigration officials to release illegal immigrants into the general population while they await a formal hearing, a hearing for which almost none of them actually show up.

It took the President exactly one day to fulfill that prediction, as he signed a memo last night ordering an end to this idiotic policy, and instructing Defense Secretary James Mattis to ” produce a list of military facilities that could be used to detain illegal immigrants.”  You can be sure the fake news media and Democrat Party already met overnight to crank out their “concentration camp” narrative to describe this new detention policy.  Because that’s what our fake news media does.

Friday was a very busy day with other efforts to beef up border security, as the Trump Administration acts to fill the gaping national security void left by a recalcitrant congress.  Attorney General Jeff Sessions directed U.S. attorneys in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California to prosecute all cases – not just the relative handful currently taken on – of illegal border crossers “to the extent practicable.”

This direction by the AG leaves much discretion up to the various U.S. attorneys, so we can anticipate the few remaining Obama holdovers in those states to ignore it, but it will no doubt result in increased enforcement of immigration laws, which will in turn certainly have a dampening effect on the number of attempted border crossings. When your country is literally being invaded, any action to increase security is a welcome one.

Naturally, though, the social justice warrior community was predictably outraged by the AG’s directive.   Cecillia Wang, a deputy legal director at the anti-American ACLU, was quoted as saying “This will be assembly-line justice, where large numbers of defendants are forced through the system without adequate time to consult counsel.”

Yeah, you know what?  I got no problem with that.  No problem at all.  Again, our country is being invaded by drug dealers, terrorists, and child- and sex-traffickers, and it is long past time the situation be taken seriously.  These are not U.S. citizens we are dealing with here.  These are invaders who knowingly and intentionally break our laws, and “assembly-line justice” is all the justice they’re entitled to.  More than they’re entitled to, actually.

In addition to that action by the Justice Department, the Departments of Homeland Security and Defense announced late Friday evening that the first 500 national guard troops, along with supporting equipment, vehicles and helicopters, are already on their way to their new border assignments.  To supplement the federal action, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced they’d be sending a combined 400 national guard troops to the border by their own orders.

New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez has not yet let it be known whether or not she will become part of the seditious “resistance” and work against the President’s plans to beef up border security, but California Governor Jerry Brown very predictably said he will not cooperate with any national guard deployments from his state.

Governor Brown’s gesture of opposition is ultimately a futile one, given that the POTUS has absolute authority to simply nationalize National Guard troops in any state and deploy them on his order.  But engaging in futile and seditious gestures is what California’s state government is all about these days, so no one was surprised by Brown’s latest unpatriotic announcement.  One can only hope Gov. Martinez will not lower her own state to the California standard.

Regardless, the Trump Administration’s actions to beef up border security without any help from congress this week have been swift and decisive.  And as the Campaign Update has predicted and chronicled throughout the week, they all started with a couple of presidential tweets last Saturday morning.

If you get your news from the mainstream fake news media, all of these actions came as a surprise to you, just as they came as a surprise to all the fake journalists.  Some things never change.

Just another day in fake news media America.

That is all.

Democrats’ Fading “Rising Star” and NBC’s Sleepy Chuck Todd

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Tired of all this Winning yet? – Hey, I’m old enough to remember last week, when every fake journalist in Texas and America was telling us that Texas senate candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, an Irish guy who represents a largely-Hispanic congressional district (thus the ‘nickname’), was the Democrat Party’s “rising star” who was going to whip Ted Cruz in the general election this coming November.  Yeah, that was just another bit of fake news fed to all the fake reporters by the Democrats, who are desperate to pretend they have momentum and are about to have a “blue wave” election this Fall.

Even the increasingly disgusting leftwingers who infest the increasingly fake-newsy The Hill these days are facing up to reality now, with a new narrative on Irish Beto titled “O’Rourke faces uphill battle against Cruz after lackluster primary win”.  This comes after Irish Beto only managed to pull 62% of the vote against a couple of other Democrats with zero name recognition in the primary last week, receiving fewer than half the number of votes Cruz received in the GOP primary.  Clearly, the articulate and good looking Irish Beto is going to have to do more than be articulate and good-looking to appeal to Texas voters outside of Austin.

But don’t blame Irish Beto – this pattern of big “we’re gonna turn Texas blue!” buildup followed by a huge crash and burn at the ballot box is becoming an every-four-year tradition for the Democrats and their fake news media toadies in Texas.  Who could ever forget the gigantic buildup Texas and national media outlets gave to Wendy Davis, who thought she could ride a pro-abortion-until-birth-and-maybe-even-after-birth filibuster in the Texas Senate all the way to the governor’s office in 2014?

In that campaign, Barack Obama sent his Organizing for America clowns down to Austin to assist with the Davis effort, the web-based Texas Tribune became basically the Davis for Governor pep squad, and the New York Times treated its Upper East Side subscriber base to breathless weekly updates on its front page about the coming Reign of Wendy.  On election day, reality came home to roost, as Davis pulled in 38% of the vote against Republican Greg Abbott.

With the Texas Democrat Party probably stuck with a lackluster Dallas County sheriff as its candidate for the governor’s office (Sheriff Guadalupe Valdez, who will face some guy named Andrew White in a runoff for the nomination) Irish Beto has now become the Great Democrat/media Hope for 2018.  The truth is that his chances to defeat Senator Cruz were never any better than virtually non-existent, and all the fawning attention the NYTimes and Texas Tribune can muster on his behalf won’t change that.  Thus, Mr. O’Rourke is destined to become just the latest Great Democrat Disappointment in November, and join Ms. Davis as just another former Democrat “rising star” who has no future in politics.

Because this is Texas, not New York or California, and that is how this stuff works here.

God Bless Texas.

Meanwhile, all those NYTimes-reading Upper East Siders were tut-tutting and clicking their tongues in snobbish horror Saturday night as President Donald Trump delivered one of his classic ad lib stem-winders to a huge crowd in Pittsburgh.  Trump, fresh off a week of #Winning as only Trump can do, was pumped up and in rare form, as he went after his tormentors in the fake news media and the Democrat Party.  Here are some of the highlights:

Speaking of NBC fake journalist Chuck Todd:  The President first referred to Todd as “Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd,” then followed with “He’s a sleepy son of a bitch, I’ll tell you.”  Wine glasses crashed to floors at dinner parties all around Central Park at that one.  The NYTimes tried to reach Todd for comment, but he was napping.

On CNN:  “…fake as hell CNN.  So fake.  The worst.”  Correct.

On the fact that his candidacy and presidency have been a boon for ratings at the cable TV networks, except for CNN:  “Could you imagine covering Bernie? Or Pocahontas?  How about that? Can you imagine having to cover Elizabeth Warren for four years?”  No.  We can’t.

On Mad Maxine Waters:  [She’s a] “low-IQ individual.”  He repeated this 100% true statement several times, just to irritate everyone in coastal California even more.

On Oprah Winfrey possibly running against him in 2020:  “I’d love Oprah to win, I’d beat Oprah. I know her weakness,” he said. “Wouldn’t we love to run against Oprah? I’d love it. That would be a painful experience for her.”  Again, all true, so delightfully true.

It was epic, all over the place, completely un-presidential, stream-of-consciousness Trump at his  best – or worst, if you live in the regional Democrat Party centers of New York, Hollywood or Chicago.

He should do this more often.

Just another day in the Democrats have no clue what to do about all of this America.

That is all.

When Will Soros-Funded Activists Invade Houston? Soon.

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Here is what is fixing to start happening in Houston, probably within the next few days:  You’re going to see a lot of Antifa, Black Lives Matter and other Soros-funded activists come in from other parts of the country and begin to infiltrate the community, particularly in minority-heavy neighborhoods.  Their purpose will be to make it appear that the federal and state response to the Hurricane Harvey disaster is racist and ineffective.  We can imagine that these activist groups and their benefactors in the national Democrat Party have had enough of seeing uplifting video from Texas of grateful people praising local, state and federal officials, and thanking everyone who has been helping them.
  • So, in the coming days, you are going to start seeing video on CNN and the networks of mainly younger people loudly complaining that the people in other (presumably white) neighborhoods are getting their help, but nobody’s doing anything for them.  You will start seeing films of such people loudly interrupting public officials who are trying to hold meetings in minority communities around Houston, shouting them down, even threatening them with violence.  You will probably begin seeing groups of mainly younger people staging protests in front of Houston City Hall, with signs accusing President Trump, Governor Abbott and FEMA officials of being racists and trying to commit genocide in the Bayou City.
  • All of these people will claim to be residents of Houston, and no one at CNN, ABC, CBS or NBC will question that, or take film of the caravan of white buses that will likely transport them into the city, if that hasn’t already happened.  Because you can bet your bottom dollar that the folks at CNN and the networks are sick to death of all the public spiritedness we have seen from Houstonians over the last 10 days.  This not good for ratings, or for clickbait to their various websites.
  • Sound cynical?  Sure.  But look, this is the playbook that we have seen over and over and over again over the last dozen years.  These agitators and the fake news media cannot allow what we have seen thus far from Houston and surrounding areas impacted by Harvey to stand.  People of all colors and creeds reaching out, putting themselves in danger to help one another?  That is not the America we see portrayed on CNN 24 hours every day.  If that is the real America, then there is no other conclusion to reach than that CNN is indeed “fake news.”
  • A Republican Governor in a Red State that voted for Donald Trump last November becoming a national star with his even-handed guidance of his state’s recovery efforts?  Does not fit the media/Democrat narrative of incompetent Republican governance.  President Trump and his FEMA Director leading an incredibly well-organized and efficient federal response, and helping the people of Texas in every way possible? Does not fit the narrative that Trump is a racist/lunatic/monster.
  • So the facts and images on the ground have to change in order to fit the media/Democrat narrative, and these George Soros-funded professional agitators are just the people to change them, working in conjunction with the fake news media.  We must remember that these are the same people who have infiltrated Republican congressional townhall meetings all over the country throughout 2016 and 2017, shouting down the elected officials and not allowing them to get their message out.  Why would anyone think they would hesitate to do the same in public gatherings all over Houston in the days and weeks to come?
  • This is standard operating procedure for those on the radical left and in the fake news media.  Frankly, the wonder is we haven’t already seen it happening.

Just another day in Why Isn’t The Justice Department Investigating George Soros? America.

That is all.
