Friday News Roundup: Glenn Greenwald Reveals how the CIA Owns America’s Corrupt Media

This is a great way to start: Watch as Jim Jordan takes The Little Menace to Society Anthony Fauci apart lie by lie at a congressional hearing on Thursday:

This is what the Nazi-style propaganda purveyors at CBS thinks is real news. – CBS doesn’t think Fauci’s serial lying, conflicting statements, and just plain making stuff up on the fly amounts to news, but boy, let a cousin walk in between Prince William and Harry-the-lesser, and you got a real scoop!

You just cannot make this stuff up, folks. You seriously can’t.

Ok, so, I guess Climate Change is “infrastructure” now. – Why not? Everything else is according to our ruling Democrats.

In keeping with the current Democrat/Media narratives that a) it’s time to ramp up the fright tactics about “climate change” even more than they already have, and b) it’s time to use the COVID pandemic as the justification for implementing full-on brutish, Venezuela-style fascist socialism in this country, the evil minions who infest Time Magazine yesterday decided to combine both into a single overarching Super-Narrative:

Man, that’s some real fright stuff right there.

From the story at Time:

n her third day as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Marcia Fudge phoned the White House. She had taken over an agency with a role to play addressing a range of crises as the lack of affordable housing in U.S. cities has left hundreds of thousands homeless and millions more in financial straits. She connected with Joe Biden’s climate team. Fudge and Gina McCarthy, Biden’s national climate adviser, talked about addressing climate change and the affordable-housing shortage at the same time. Three weeks later, the Administration announced plans to provide for more than 1 million resilient and energy-efficient housing units. “People are actually, from every agency, knocking on our doors,” says McCarthy, “wondering how they can be part of what is essentially a hopeful future.”

From her perch in the West Wing, McCarthy has been charged by Biden with overseeing a dramatic shift in the way the U.S. pursues action on climate change. Instead of turning to a select few environment-focused agencies to make climate policy, McCarthy and her office are working to infuse climate considerations into everything the Administration does. The task force she runs includes everyone from the Secretary of Defense, who is evaluating the climate threat to national security, to the Treasury Secretary, who is working to stem the risk that climate change poses to the financial system.

The approach “affords us the opportunity to be more than greenhouse-gas accountants,” says Ali Zaidi, McCarthy’s deputy. “We can tackle the breadth of the climate challenge and the opportunity if we map the intersections with housing policy, and the intersection with racial justice, and the intersection with public health.”

For decades, the idea that climate change touches everything has grown behind the scenes. Leaders from small island countries have pleaded with the rest of the world to notice how climate change has begun to uproot their lives, in areas from health care to schooling. Social scientists have crunched the data, illuminating how climate change will ripple across society, contributing to a surge in migration, reduced productivity and a spike in crime. And advocates and thinkers have proposed everything from a conscious move to economic degrowth to eco-capitalism to make climate the government’s driving force.

Man, this is some real sterling propaganda right there. Can you say Pulitzer Prize, here we come? Hell, why not a Nobel Peace Prize for narrative-shaping such as this.

Somewhere, the entire staffs of the New York Times and Washington Post are turning green with envy.

It was all lies. Because of course it was. – Hey, remember how, during the midst of the presidential campaign last year, the CIA leaked allegations that the evil Russians were taking out bounties on the heads of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan? Remember how China Joe and Kamala pounded President Trump on the campaign trail for not doing anything to punish Russia and Vladimir Putin over those stories? Remember how CNN and MSNBC and the NY Times and The WaPo and the rest of the corrupt, Nazi-style propaganda media pounded on these leaked allegations night after night, day after day?

Yeah, good times, right?

Yesterday, the CIA admitted it was all just made up. Never happened:

From the story at The Daily Beast:

It was a blockbuster story about Russia’s return to the imperial “Great Game” in Afghanistan. The Kremlin had spread money around the longtime central Asian battlefield for militants to kill remaining U.S. forces. It sparked a massive outcry from Democrats and their #resistance amplifiers about the treasonous Russian puppet in the White House whose admiration for Vladimir Putin had endangered American troops.

But on Thursday, the Biden administration announced that U.S. intelligence only had “low to moderate” confidence in the story after all. Translated from the jargon of spyworld, that means the intelligence agencies have found the story is, at best, unproven—and possibly untrue.

[Note: if the CIA admits a story it has leaked and pushed is “possibly untrue,” that means it was made up out of whole cloth by the CIA to achieve a strategic or political purpose.]

“The United States intelligence community assesses with low to moderate confidence that Russian intelligence officers sought to encourage Taliban attacks on U.S. and coalition personnel in Afghanistan in 2019 and perhaps earlier,” a senior administration official said.

Let’s all remember this famous quote from William Colby, former Director of the CIA:

“The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media.”

Colby was Director of the CIA from 1973 through 1976. Do you really think anything has changed since that time? If you do, please give me a call – I have some great real estate I’d like to talk you into buying for a premium price.

I’ll tell you who doesn’t believe anything about the CIA’s cozy relationship with our corrupt, Nazi-style media has changed since the 1970s: Liberal writer Glenn Greenwald, that’s who. Greenwald has a terrific thread up on Twitter on this subject that everyone should read. Here it is:

“When the CIA speaks, they [the media] parrot.”

But wait, there’s more!

Again, Greenwald is a liberal writer who voted for Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, though it’s hard to understand how anyone who displays as much innate intelligence and logical thought process ability could have made such horrific choices. But there it is.

Again, former CIA Director William Colby:

“The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media.”

Think about it.

That is all.

Today’s Required Reading: The New York Times Devalues the 1st Amendment Again

The corrupt news media is now attempting to make itself immune to criticism. – That’s the only message one can take away from a kerfuffle that broke out yesterday between Fox News’s Tucker Carlson and the leftist creeps who run the New York Times. It’s a little complicated, so bear with me here.

The whole thing started on Tuesday when young, white and oh, so privileged New York Times reporter Taylor Lorenz sent out the tweet below:

As Carlson pointed out during his monologue that very night, this “smear campaign” consists of other Twitter users pointing out all of the outright lies she’s included in some of her recent reports. Which is a very easy task to complete given the nature of Lorenz’s “reporting.”

Here’s a clip of Carlson’s monologue:

In defense of their privileged reporter whose life is a bowl of cherries compared to 99% of the other human beings on earth, the Times management responded by sending out the statement below:

Ok, so, Tucker criticizes Lorenz in exactly the way she has gone after so many others on Twitter and in the pages of the New York Times, and Tucker’s the “cruel” bad guy. Because of course he is. Because the Times wants its people to be immune from criticism. It’s the very same evil, despicable tactic being used by Meghan Markle now to go after Piers Morgan, filing a complaint with Britain’s speech regulator alleging that Morgan’s pointing out the truth about the serial lies she told Oprah Sunday night is damaging to her fragile psyche.

It’s one thing for a g-list has-been actress pretending to be a princess to take such actions to try to silence her critics; it is quite another for a prominent member of the American news media to take them against American citizens. For the New York Times to be actively supporting this kind of overt censorship betrays a complete abandonment of its role as a protector of the First Amendment.

The whole sordid episode got the attention of liberal writer Glenn Greenwald, who weighed in with an epic piece excoriating the privileged Ms. Lorenz and her bullying bosses at the Times. It is a wonderful and informative read that you should take the time to consume today.

Here’s an excerpt to whet your appetite:

The most powerful and influential newspaper in the U.S., arguably the West, is The New York Times. Journalists who write for it, especially those whose work is featured on its front page or in its op-ed section, wield immense power to shape public discourse, influence thought, set the political agenda for the planet’s most powerful nation, expose injustices, or ruin the lives of public figures and private citizens alike. That is an enormous amount of power in the hands of one media institution and its employees. That’s why it calls itself the Paper of Record.

One of the Paper of Record’s star reporters, Taylor Lorenz, has been much discussed of late. That is so for three reasons. The first is that the thirty-six-year-old tech and culture reporter has helped innovate a new kind of reportorial beat that seems to have a couple of purposes. She publishes articles exploring in great detail the online culture of teenagers and very young adults, which, as a father of two young Tik-Tok-using children, I have found occasionally and mildly interesting. She also seeks to catch famous and non-famous people alike using bad words or being in close digital proximity to bad people so that she can alert the rest of the world to these important findings. It is natural that journalists who pioneer a new form of reporting this way are going to be discussed.

The second reason Lorenz is the topic of recent discussion is that she has been repeatedly caught fabricating claims about influential people, and attempting to ruin the reputations and lives of decidedly non-famous people. In the last six weeks alone, she twice publicly lied about Netscape founder Marc Andreessen: once claiming he used the word “retarded” in a Clubhouse room in which she was lurking (he had not) and then accusing him of plotting with a white nationalist in a different Clubhouse room to attack her (he, in fact, had said nothing).

She also often uses her large, powerful public platform to malign private citizens without any power or public standing by accusing them of harboring bad beliefs and/or associating with others who do. (She is currently being sued by a citizen named Arya Toufanian, who claims Lorenz has used her private Twitter account to destroy her reputation and business, particularly with a tweet that Lorenz kept pinned at the top of her Twitter page for eight months, while several other non-public figures complain that Lorenz has “reported” on their non-public activities). It is to be expected that a New York Times journalist who gets caught lying as she did against Andreessen and trying to destroy the reputations of non-public figures will be a topic of conversation.

The third reason this New York Times reporter is receiving attention is because she has become a leading advocate and symbol for a toxic tactic now frequently used by wealthy and influential public figures (like her) to delegitimize criticisms and even render off-limits any attempt to hold them accountable. Specifically, she and her media allies constantly conflate criticisms of people like them with “harassment,” “abuse” and even “violence.”

Go read the rest of it. It will be the best 15 minutes of time you invest today. Promise.

That is all.

Today’s Required Reading: Glenn Greenwald Eviscerates the Grifters at the Lincoln Project

If you read only one thing today, let this be it. Writing at Substack, liberal opinionist/reporter Glenn Greenwald published one of the greatest takedowns of a classic DC Swamp grift operation in American history on Friday. In about 2,000 words, Greenwald fully exposes the sleaze merchants who created the Lincoln Project and are now fleeing it like rats from a sinking ship, and the corrupt media hacks who provided them with hundreds of hours of free air time during last year’s presidential campaign.

The result is truly one of the most epic rhetorical takedowns I’ve ever seen. It’ll take you about 20 minutes to read the full thing, but trust me, you will be happy you took the time.

Here are some excerpts to whet your appetite:

The group of life-long Republican Party consultants who, under the name “The Lincoln Project,” got very rich in 2020 with anti-Trump online messaging has spent weeks responding to numerous scandals on multiple fronts. Despite the gravity of those scandals, its conduct on Thursday night was in a whole new category of sleaze. It not only infuriated their long-time allies, but also constituted the abuse of Twitter’s platform to commit likely illegal acts.

That the primary effect of the Lincoln Project was to personally enrich its key operatives by cynically exploiting the fears of U.S. liberals has long been obvious. Reporting throughout 2020 conclusively demonstrated that the vast majority of the tens of millions of dollars raised by the group was going to firms controlled by its founders. One of its most prominent founders — GOP consultant Rick Wilson — personally collected $65,000 from liberals through GoFundMe for an anti-Trump film he kept promising but which never came; to this date, he refuses to explain what he did with that money.

A study conducted after the 2020 election found that the group’s effect on the election’s outcome was trivial to non-existent — not surprising given its penchant for spending money on ads that aired in electorally irrelevant places such as Washington, D.C. or which circulated almost exclusively in liberal cable news and social media venues, and thus had no purpose other than to enable its consultants to take large commissions from the ad spending. They were producing ads solely for liberals, with the overriding intent not of defeating Trump but inflating their net worth. And it worked: until they were no longer needed.

Not only have the Lincoln Project’s boisterous leaders fallen completely silent, but they also are refusing to answer basic questions about what happened here. Earlier this morning, I submitted a list of questions to them (published below) and they have failed to respond in any way, including even with their characteristic fake bravado, insults and threats.

They have transformed into meek, mute little mice, hiding somewhere out of sight. Anyone who has their best interests at heart should hope they are huddled in their criminal lawyers’ offices. All of this silence and hiding and evasion is particularly ironic given the Abraham Lincoln quote they chose to define themselves, that still sits atop their now-dormant Twitter profile, which admonishes: “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.” Indeed.

From the start, it was obvious that this disgraceful collapse was the inevitable end for this group. The very idea that this freakish hodgepodge of life-long D.C. Republican consultants were men of profound conscience defending the Republic was a complete and total joke. They are life-long grifters, responsible for some of the most grotesque and amoral attack ads in the modern era, with a very long and recent history of advocating the exact opposite values of what they claimed to represent once they opportunistically identified the optimal Trump-era profit model: namely, relentlessly fleece scared and gullible #Resistance liberals of their cash by posturing as brave and principled warriors against Trumpism.

But their lucrative scheme could never have succeeded without the knowingly fraudulent cooperation of liberal networks such as MSNBC and CNN. Over and over, those Democratic Party spokespeople masquerading as TV journalists — knowing exactly who these bottom-feeding GOP operatives have always been — encouraged their misguided and trusting viewers to regard the Lincoln Project as a selfless and noble bulwark against Trumpism rather than the scamming, grifting, lowlife con it so obviously was from the start.

What this sorry episode reveals above all else is that much of American liberalism, including its all-but-official arm in corporate media, replicated, in the name of combatting Trump, every unethical tactic, every deceitful method, and every toxic assault on basic decency that they insisted Trump singularly represented.

Today’s Required Reading: Glenn Greenwald Exposes Media Tattletale Brigade

Last week saw tons of absolutely Required Reading assignments being handed out here at DBDailyUpdate, and this week is starting off with a bang, too. Over at, Glenn Greenwald – the only remaining liberal voice in American media worth following – has a terrific piece in which he exposes the corrupt news media “tattletale” titans.

From pudgy little Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy at CNN to NBC’s Ben Collins and the New York Times trio of Mike Isaac, Kevin Roose, and Sheera Frenkel, the media’s brigade of Nazi-style speech cops has gained out-sized influence over the speech-controlling mindset at the Big Tech companies, resulting in essentially a loss of the first amendment right to free speech in what has become the modern version of the public square.

Greenwald’s piece, titled “The Journalistic Tattletale and Censorship Industry Suffers Several Well-Deserved Blows,” goes into great detail about how this corrupt media cottage industry grew in power, and the reputational blows it has suffered in recent weeks.

It’s a great read that will be the best 20 minute investment of time you spend today. If nothing else, read it during the halftime of the Super Bowl game tonight – it will save your senses from being assaulted by whatever musical atrocities the league has lined up to assault your senses.

Here’s an excerpt from Greenwald’s piece to whet your appetite:

I’ve written before about one particularly toxic strain of this authoritarian “reporting.” Teams of journalists at three of the most influential corporate media outlets — CNN’s “media reporters” (Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy), NBC’s “disinformation space unit” (Ben Collins and Brandy Zadrozny), and the tech reporters of The New York Times (Mike Isaac, Kevin Roose, Sheera Frenkel) — devote the bulk of their “journalism” to searching for online spaces where they believe speech and conduct rules are being violated, flagging them, and then pleading that punitive action be taken (banning, censorship, content regulation, after-school detention). These hall-monitor reporters are a major factor explaining why tech monopolies, which (for reasons of self-interest and ideology) never wanted the responsibility to censor, now do so with abandon and seemingly arbitrary blunt force: they are shamed by the world’s loudest media companies when they do not.

Just as the NSA is obsessed with ensuring there be no place on earth where humans can communicate free of their spying eyes and ears, these journalistic hall monitors cannot abide the idea that there can be any place on the internet where people are free to speak in ways they do not approve. Like some creepy informant for a state security apparatus, they spend their days trolling the depths of chat rooms and 4Chan bulletin boards and sub-Reddit threads and private communications apps to find anyone — influential or obscure — who is saying something they believe should be forbidden, and then use the corporate megaphones they did not build and could not have built but have been handed in order to silence and destroy anyone who dissents from the orthodoxies of their corporate managers or challenges their information hegemony.

Oliver Darcy has built his CNN career by sitting around with Brian Stelter petulantly pointing to people breaking the rules on social media and demanding tech executives make the rule-breakers disappear. The little crew of tattletale millennials assembled by NBC — who refer to their twerpy work with the self-glorifying title of “working in the disinformation space”: as intrepid and hazardous as exposing corruption by repressive regimes or reporting from war zones — spend their dreary days scrolling through 4Chan boards to expose the offensive memes and bad words used by transgressive adolescents; they then pat themselves on the back for confronting dangerous power centers, even when it is nothing more trivial and bullying than doxxing the identities of powerless, obscure citizens.

Greatness. Just read it – you can thank me later.

Glenn Greenwald Eviscerates CNN/MSNBC Over Their Fake Vaccine Coverage

Commentator Glenn Greenwald issued a thread on Twitter Tuesday morning that everyone needs to see. In it, he presents talking heads on both CNN and MSNBC claiming six months ago that President Donald Trump’s promise to deliver a vaccine for COVID-19 by the end of 2020 to be not just unlikely, but “impossible.” Of course, the President, thanks to his Operation Warp Speed, has already caused the deliver of one vaccine, by Pfizer, that is being distributed this week, and two more that will be approved and start distribution to the American public in the coming days.

Here is Greenwald’s thread in its entirety. Take a few moments to read it and bask in its glorious takedown of these two despicable, fake, corrupt cable “news” channels:

Greenwald’s final point – that these corrupt media outlets, not QAnon or WikiLeaks or leakers like Edward Snowden – are the nation’s “greatest disinformation threat”, echoes the point I’ve been making here for years that the corrupt news media is a clear and present danger to the survival of the American Republic.

Never has this been more blatantly true than it has been with the media’s incessant fakery of the news related to COVID-19, a virus that has been used by governors of both parties to exert authoritarian power over the people of their states and to damage the national economy for years to come. An honest, truly functioning national news media establishment could have by and large prevented this tragic outcome by holding those in power accountable for their actions.

Instead, these parrots have acted in unison to enable the subversion of our freedoms and ability to make a living, all with the goal of influencing a presidential election.

A pox on all their houses. Or perhaps a virus. Either way works for me.

That is all.

Corrupt Media Update: Glenn Greenwald Leaves The Intercept With a Bang

Before we get to the meat of this piece, I wanted to share a couple of photos with you. Both President Trump and Traitor Joe Biden are holding rallies in Tampa, Florida today. The first photo below is an aerial shot from the Biden rally, showing the demented candidate speaking to maybe 100 people. Maybe.

The second shot is from the Trump rally, showing the President speaking to an estimated crowd of 15,000 or more.

Our corrupt news media and their paid pollsters expect you to believe that the guy who couldn’t draw a crowd of mosquitos in the Everglades is about to win a landslide over the guy who draws crowds this large or larger everywhere he goes.

Yeah, no.

Glenn Greenwald is a liberal writer with whom I do not agree with about much. But he is also one of what has become the rarest, most-endangered species in America today: An intellectually honest liberal and a real journalist. In 2020, you could count the number of remaining samples of this particular species on the fingers of one hand.

Mr. Greenwald was a co-founder of the liberal blog/news site The Intercept back in 2013. From its very humble beginnings, he has helped grow it into one of the most highly-trafficked liberal blogsites on the Internet. Thanks mainly to his efforts, The Intercept established a well-earned reputation as a news source that has been willing to buck the leftists trends of the day, including the cancel culture and Nazi-like media censorship movement that have done so much damage to our society in recent years, especially during this crucial election year.

Greenwald places such a high priority on truth-telling that he even attempted to bust the solid leftwing media wall of Omerta on the Hunter Biden laptop story this week, only to find that he has now lost the ability to even buck the system at his own website. It seems the New York-based editors who now rule The Intercept were unwilling to allow even their own founder to tell the truth about Joe Biden on their platform.

As a result, Greenwald published a letter of resignation on a different blogsite called Substack today, and it is a thing of beauty that everyone should take the time to read and absorb.

Here is an excerpt from that letter to whet your appetite:

The current iteration of The Intercept is completely unrecognizable when compared to that original vision. Rather than offering a venue for airing dissent, marginalized voices and unheard perspectives, it is rapidly becoming just another media outlet with mandated ideological and partisan loyalties, a rigid and narrow range of permitted viewpoints (ranging from establishment liberalism to soft leftism, but always anchored in ultimate support for the Democratic Party), a deep fear of offending hegemonic cultural liberalism and center-left Twitter luminaries, and an overarching need to secure the approval and admiration of the very mainstream media outlets we created The Intercept to oppose, critique and subvert.

As a result, it is a rare event indeed when a radical freelance voice unwelcome in mainstream precincts is published in The Intercept. Outisde reporters or writers with no claim to mainstream acceptability — exactly the people we set out to amplify — have almost no chance of being published. It is even rarer for The Intercept to publish content that would not fit very comfortably in at least a dozen or more center-left publications of similar size which pre-dated its founding, from Mother Jones to Vox and even MSNBC.

Courage is required to step out of line, to question and poke at those pieties most sacred in one’s own milieu, but fear of alienating the guardians of liberal orthodoxy, especially on Twitter, is the predominant attribute of The Intercept’s New-York based editorial leadership team. As a result, The Intercept has all but abandoned its core mission of challenging and poking at, rather than appeasing and comforting, the institutions and guardians most powerful in its cultural and political circles.

Making all of this worse, The Intercept — while gradually excluding the co-founders from any role in its editorial mission or direction, and making one choice after the next to which I vocally objected as a betrayal of our core mission — continued publicly to trade on my name in order to raise funds for journalism it knew I did not support. It purposely allowed the perception to fester that I was the person responsible for its journalistic mistakes in order to ensure that blame for those mistakes was heaped on me rather than the editors who were consolidating control and were responsible for them.

…the brute censorship this week of my article — about the Hunter Biden materials and Joe Biden’s conduct regarding Ukraine and China, as well my critique of the media’s rank-closing attempt, in a deeply unholy union with Silicon Valley and the “intelligence community,” to suppress its revelations — eroded the last justification I could cling to for staying. It meant that not only does this media outlet not provide the editorial freedom to other journalists, as I had so hopefully envisioned seven years ago, but now no longer even provides it to me. In the days heading into a presidential election, I am somehow silenced from expressing any views that random editors in New York find disagreeable, and now somehow have to conform my writing and reporting to cater to their partisan desires and eagerness to elect specific candidates.

To say that such censorship is a red line for me, a situation I would never accept no matter the cost, is an understatement. It is astonishing to me, but also a reflection of our current discourse and illiberal media environment, that I have been silenced about Joe Biden by my own media outlet.

Numerous other episodes were also contributing causes to my decision to leave: the Reality Winner cover-up; the decision to hang Lee Fang out to dry and even force him to apologize when a colleague tried to destroy his reputation by publicly, baselessly and repeatedly branding him a racist; its refusal to report on the daily proceedings of the Assange extradition hearing because the freelance supporter doing an outstanding job was politically distasteful; its utter lack of editorial standards when it comes to viewpoints or reporting that flatter the beliefs of its liberal base (The Intercept published some of the most credulous and false affirmations of maximalist Russiagate madness, and, horrifyingly, took the lead in falsely branding the Hunter Biden archive as “Russian disinformation” by mindlessly and uncritically citing — of all things — a letter by former CIA officials that contained this baseless insinuation).

Go read the entire thing – it will be the best 15 minutes you invest today.

Ever since I started writing political columns for my small town local newspaper 34 years ago, I have warned that the steady disappearance of anything resembling a fair and free news media in this country represents a clear and present existential threat to our freedoms. As 2020 has rolled on and Election Day grown ever-closer, the conversion of our national media establishment into a Nazi-style propaganda operation working at the behest of a single political party that will resort to literally any measure in order to gain power brings us ever-closer to the implementation of a brutal totalitarian state.

The refusal of the entire national media complex to report on the massive Biden Crime Family scandal is just one of the sorriest episodes in a year that has seen the consolidation of this Nazi hivemind culture within pretty much every national media outlet. Literally everything outlets like CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times and the Washington Post report today is pretty much 100% false. Objective truth has become a foreign concept to be actively avoided at these and other media outlets, especially any truth that might do harm to the Democrat Party objective of assuming total power.

And of course, the big social media platforms have happily joined in the fray, employing censorship tactics that would have made Joseph Goebbels green with envy.

Enable and emboldened by the media’s efforts on their behalf, Democrats believe that they stand today in the precipice of attaining that power.

God help us all if they turn out to be right.

That is all.
