Minneapolis Still Burning: The Riots Have Gone National *UPDATED*

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

UPDATE: At 7:00 a.m. CT, Fox News is now reporting that the President has ordered 1,700 National Guard troops to deploy to Minneapolis.

Boy, that curfew sure worked out, huh? – Despite an 8:00 “curfew” declared by feckless Democrat Gov. Tim Walz, Antifa/BLM agitators and thugs continued burning down Ilhan Omar’s congressional district in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area Friday night and well into Saturday morning.

The mass rioting seen on Wednesday and Thursday started right up again as darkness dawned Friday evening, just a few hours after CNN’s dimwit Chris Cillizza had published an “analysis” piece titled “The governor of Minnesota just showed what leadership in a crisis looks like.” Of course, Cillizza’s “analysis” was focused on the police arrest of CNN’s reporter and camera crew Thursday. Walz apologized for that action despite the fact that it was entirely justified after the CNN reporter had spent several minutes arguing with the cops and obstructing their sight lines during a violent emergency.

How are the police supposed to control anything when a despicable alarmist operation like CNN is having its crews intentionally get in the way so they can make the story about themselves, and with a Governor who is subservient to them? This isn’t ‘leadership,’ it’s surrender.

Last night, Gov. Walz whined that he just doesn’t have enough law enforcement officers on the job for them to begin making mass arrests. That provides President Trump with his window of opportunity to take over this situation, call in the National Guard, and clean up the mess made by Walz and pathetic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

Given that Minnesota’s mess is now spreading to other cities across the nation, today would be a very good time to take that action.

Frey and Walz, being leftist Democrats, want to continue treating these rioters as Democrats always do: As misbehaving children who are just acting out and need to be protected by the government. That is obviously not what is taking place here. The truth is, as many residents are now saying, that these cities have been invaded by paid Antifa and BLM thugs who are fomenting these riots and committing most of the violence and destruction.

America was right to react with utter outrage at the callous killing of George Floyd by those four police officers. Now it is time for America to be outraged at the ongoing mayhem being created by these thugs. They are a cancer on our society and they need to be cut out.

Frey and Walz are obviously completely helpless and useless. I am generally not in favor of federal intervention into local affairs, but this outbreak has now gone national. This city needs to be locked down, and only the federal government can get that done.

In that regard, the AP is reporting that the Pentagon has placed several military units on alert to possibly be deployed to Minneapolis:

The get-ready orders were sent verbally on Friday, after President Donald Trump asked Defense Secretary Mark Esper for military options to help quell the unrest in Minneapolis after protests descended into looting and arson in some parts of the city.

Trump made the request on a phone call from the Oval Office on Thursday night that included Esper, National Security Advisor Robert O’ Brien and several others. The president asked Esper for rapid deployment options if the Minneapolis protests continued to spiral out of control, according to one of the people, a senior Pentagon official who was on the call.

”When the White House asks for options, someone opens the drawer and pulls them out so to speak.” the official said.

The person said the military units would be deployed under the Insurrection Act of 1807, which was last used in 1992 during the riots in Los Angeles that followed the Rodney King trial.

[End]

It is becoming obvious that the rumors that have been running around for several months of the Democrats planning to try to start a race war in our country this summer were accurate. All they were apparently waiting for was a touch point to set it off, and the killing of Mr. Floyd served that purpose.

Everyone needs to remember, as you watch all of the ugly scenes across the country, that both BLM and Antifa are domestic terror groups created and funded by the Democrat Party through dozens of George Soros-backed front groups. None of what you see happening on your TV screens is organic in nature. This is an entirely planned set of events designed to create chaos in our country leading up to a national election.

This is why you see reports like this one from Max Nesterak, a local journalist who has taken great personal risk to report these events in real time:

Who do you think those “white outsiders” are? Remember that Antifa is made up mainly of white, middle-to-upper-class Millennials who live in their grandmothers’ basements.

You were all outraged this week by the video of the callous killing of George Floyd. Now it is time for you all to be outraged at the Democrat front groups who are causing all of this mayhem and destruction in the name of politics.

At Long Last, Minnesota Officials Arrest Derek Chauvin

The Mid-Day Campaign Update

Two days too late, news broke late this morning that Minnesota officials finally decided to arrest Derek Chauvin, the dirty cop who killed George Floyd earlier this week. Had the arrest been made on Wednesday, many Minneapolis/St. Paul businesses that have been burned in the meantime might still be open for business.

Meanwhile, we’ve had all sorts of stuff come up this morning to talk about:

  • Floyd and Chauvin actually worked security together at a night club for several years, according to multiple media reports quoting the club’s owner;
  • The Minneapolis Police Department admits that Chauvin had had no fewer than EIGHTEEN prior complaints filed against him during the course of his career. Only two of those complaints resulted in any disciplinary action;
  • Another officer who stood around at the scene without trying to restrain Chauvin as he killed Floyd, Tou Thao, has had six complaints filed against him. Thao was also the subject of an excessive force lawsuit that the City settled out of court in 2017:

The lawsuit was brought by Lamar Ferguson, who claimed in the suit that Thao and another officer subjected him to “cruel and unusual” punishment when they arrested him in October 2014. According to the lawsuit, the officers used “unreasonable force,” including “punches, kicks and knees to the face and body while Ferguson was defenseless and handcuffed.” As a result, Ferguson suffered broken teeth, bruising and trauma, the lawsuit says. The city would go on to pay Ferguson and his attorney $25,000 to settle the lawsuit on December 11, 2017.

  • Meanwhile, as all hell was continuing to rain down around him, feckless Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was trying to change the subject:

Yes, because the arrest of a reporter who had spent several minutes arguing with police in an emergency situation while blocking their sight lines is what we want state officials to be focused on here.

  • But hey, that pales in comparison to pathetic radical leftist Mayor Jacob Frey, whose focus was on whether or not protesters were wearing their masks and practicing social distancing:

Minneapolis Mayor to Rioters: Please Practice Social Distancing, Wear Masks

Protesters throw objects onto a burning car outside a Target store near the Third Police Precinct on May 28, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during a demonstration over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, who died after a police officer kneeled on his neck for several minutes. - …

You seriously cannot make this stuff up, folks.

The fact that Chauvin and Floyd worked at the same establishment over the course of several years indicates that we have much more to learn about what motivated Chauvin in this situation. Something else that we do not yet know about is at play here.

But, if it is left up to Minnesota officials to discover what that is, we will probably never find out about it.

Elections have consequences, and what we see happening in Minnesota this week is the direct consequence of decades of Minnesota voters electing Democrats to high office.

Stop doing that, Minnesotans.

UPDATE: County Attorney Mike Freeman just told the press that the four-day span from the time of the killing to the time of Chauvin’s arrest was the fastest his office has ever moved to arrest a police officer. That fact, in and of itself, is an indication of a huge problem. Because anyone else who had done what Chauvin did would have been arrested on the spot and charged with murder. But if, as Freeman now contends, his office has to jump through four days of hoops before taking action while the damn city burns, that is a real, true problem that must be fixed.

That is all.

Minneapolis Burning: A Leadership Vacuum Leaves the Activists Fully In Charge

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Minnesota’s still burning, and it is no surprise. – Yesterday at around 5:00 CT, I gazed and listened in wonder at what can only be described as the single least effective law enforcement press conference ever to appear on national television. Here’s what I posted on Facebook as the presser concluded:

I don’t know if any of y’all are watching this press conference in Minneapolis right now, but these FBI/Minnesota law enforcement people are only making this situation worse. There will definitely be more rioting in that city tonight. This is the least effective law enforcement presser I have ever witnessed.

[End]

Participants in this presser included the local U.S. Attorney, Erica McDonald; the local FBI special agent in charge (SAC), whose name I did not get; an official with the Minnesota Bureau of Apprehension; and Mike Freeman, the local County Attorney. These folks had two objectives to achieve at this press conference: 1) to provide assurance that the investigation into the police killing of George Floyd was in competent hands and was proceeding quickly; and 2) to reassure the angry public that has been burning the city since Wednesday that justice will be swift and sure.

Unfortunately, neither goal was accomplished. Not remotely. And so we saw these scenes overnight:

It is complete chaos. No fewer than three police precinct stations have been burned.

Only Ms. McDonald delivered any messages that were remotely reassuring, and her role in all of this is purely secondary even though she led the conference. This was a murder, which is a state and local crime; the feds are only there to investigate civil rights violations and other potential federal crimes.

Instead of being reassured that justice will be done, the mostly-Black rioters were treated to a parade of pasty-white Minnesotans standing before the cameras, all saying they need more time, and all making excuses for why the four bad cops responsible for the killing are not already in jail and charged with a major crime. County Attorney Freeman even went so far as to outrageously state that he has “evidence” that no crime was committed despite the fact that the entire incident was unambiguously caught on video that everyone not living in a cave has now witnessed.

To be clear: Nothing these officials said would have had any effect on the Antifa and Black Lives Matters agitators who are being paid by Democrat funders to inflame the situation. Nothing would placate the radical Islamist activists who live in Ilhan Omar’s district – where much of the rioting is taking place – who are using this situation as an excuse to create havoc in their own community.

Remember, Minnesota is a state that elected this guy to be its Attorney General:

Image

But these activists can’t succeed unless the public at large is already angry, and the participants in last night’s press conference only made them angrier. As Trey Gowdy told Fox News Host Martha MacAllum, there is no good reason why those police officers have not already been arrested and charged. If they weren’t cops, they certainly would have been.

That is up to County Attorney Freeman and the state’s Bureau of Apprehension. Those folks had better get moving, because this situation is only going to continue to get worse until they do.

And this crap doesn’t help. – I’ll defend President Donald Trump until my fingers bleed and there is nothing that could make me pull a lever for a Democrat in November, but tweets like this one are not in any way advisable or helpful:

Image

That was all fine until the sloganeering about looting and shooting. How ridiculous and sad that he chose to do that on the very same day that he signed his well-grounded executive order denying Twitter and other big social media platforms liability protections under the Communications Decency Act.

With radical Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey a worthless emotional wreck and governor Tim Walz having zero clue about what to do here,  the rioters and the activists urging them on are fully in charge of a major American city.

This is what George Soros’s America looks like. Get a good look at it.

P.S.: The only good thing that happened last night was that a CNN reporter and camera crew were arrested when they refused to move when ordered by the police:

I got no problem with that.

Thursday News Roundup: Minneapolis Burns, Trump Expels and Orders, and Biden Passes Gas

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Because looting a Target and burning a McDonald’s is always the right answer to social injustice. – What you need to understand about the images coming out of Minneapolis this morning is that they are only partially organic in nature. They are being urged on by social unrest groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter, both created by the Democrat Party and largely funded by George Soros and his myriad array of front groups in this country.

Antifa/BLM staged a large protest in downtown Minneapolis yesterday in response to the brutal cop killing of a suspected check forger named George Floyd, who was African American. Minneapolis police responded by dispersing the crowd with tear gas:

Hours after that took place, South Minneapolis erupted in riots and looting:

Image

One local TV station is reporting that Minnesota’s feckless Democrat Governor Tim Walz requested National Guard support in containing these riots late last night.

Minneapolis is reaping the rewards of decades of leftwing Democrat governance right now: A captive, poverty-stricken, largely-minority population, angered by decades of neglect, discrimination and no opportunity; a corrupt, under-manned and poorly-trained police force; and state and local leaders who are useless in a crisis. There is a reason why scenes like this invariably come from big cities that have been run by Democrat machine politics for decades. Minneapolis is Baltimore is Chicago is St. Louis is Detroit is Philly is Portland is Berkeley, is Los Angeles, etc.

History tells us this situation will get much worse before it gets better, an outcome the involvement of Antifa/BLM thugs will ensure. Stay tuned.

Houston has an enforcement strike. – Things have certainly not turned violent in Houston, but Democrat Mayor Sylvester Turner is reaping what he has sown as well. Hotair.com has a good write-up about the fact that Turner, who has spent his entire term in office abusing and defaming the city’s police and fire departments, is suddenly having a hard time getting those departments to enforce his mindless and baseless orders restricting business reopenings that go well beyond the orders of Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott. Funny how that works, huh? It’s a good read.

Speaking of reaping what you sow… – President Donald J. Trump will issue an executive order today that will serve to facilitate increased regulation of and lawsuits against big, monopolistic social media firms who have spent the last 20 years censoring conservative speech and thought. From a report at the Wall Street Journal:

As drafted, the White House order would seek to reshape the way that federal regulators view Twitter and other social-media companies—not as hosts of speech but as monopolies that control millions of Americans’ daily experiences on their platforms, according to one of the people. It could also lay groundwork for treating them as public squares where individuals’ First Amendment rights are protected. The draft order is far-reaching in scope, the people said.

The current federal legal protections for social-media companies were adopted by Congress in Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act. That law gives online companies broad immunity from liability for their users’ actions, as well as wide latitude to police content on their sites. Critics across the political spectrum have argued that the law now provides the tech giants too much power.

[End]

It’s a good start, one that should have been taken a couple of years ago.

The braindead simpletons in the NeverTrump fake conservative crowd have already reacted with the standard “let the marketplace decide” nonsense, ignoring the fact that our country has anti-trust and restraint of trade laws on the books for very good and valid reasons. The foundations of the principles behind those laws developed during the administration of Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican who recognized the potential evils of monopolistic behavior by the big oil, railroad and steel trusts at the turn of the 20th century.

The true conservative position on this is that the laws that have been on the books and enforced for more than a century should be consistently enforced today. Twitter, Facebook, Google and Youtube are no different than Standard Oil was in 1903.

By signing this executive order today, President Trump is, as usual, taking the true conservative action.

ChinExit continues to rapidly develop. – The New York Times reported last night that the Trump Administration plans to cancel the visas of thousands of Chinese graduate students currently in the U.S. who are affiliated with ChiCom-run universities in their home country. This is the next step in the Administration’s rapidly-evolving effort to de-link the U.S. and its economy from China in the wake of the ChiCom government’s lies about the Wuhan Virus and its ongoing attempt to impose brutal control over Hong Kong in violation of international agreements.

From the Times story:

The Trump administration plans to cancel the visas of thousands of Chinese graduate students and researchers in the United States who have direct ties to universities affiliated with the People’s Liberation Army, according to American officials with knowledge of the discussions.

The plan would be the first designed to bar the access of a category of Chinese students, who, over all, form the single largest foreign student population in the United States.

It portends possible further educational restrictions, and the Chinese government could retaliate by imposing its own visa or educational bans on Americans. The two nations have already engaged in rounds of retribution over policies involving trade, technology and media access, and relations are at their worst point in decades.

American officials are discussing ways to punish China for its passage of a new national security law intended to enable crackdowns in Hong Kong, but the plans to cancel student visas were under consideration before the crisis over the law, which was announced last week by Chinese officials. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed the visa plans with President Trump on Tuesday in a White House meeting.

[End]

This is clearly the right thing for America to do under the current circumstances, as the ChiCom government grows increasingly unstable and belligerent. And remember this: If China Joe Biden becomes President, everything this President has done with regards to China will be immediately reversed, and America will revert to its previous subservient posture towards the Giant Red Panda.

Speaking of China Joe… – I kid you not, during a livestream interview with feckless Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf yesterday, the Democrat Party’s Unfrozen Caveman Presumptive Nominee let loose with a big ol’ fart that was picked up by the mikes:

I guess we’ll have to add “Farty Joe” to his long and growing list of nicknames.

You seriously could never make this stuff up.

That is all.
