Sunday News Roundup: Portland Riots Spread to Denver, and Biden Fans Arrested in Wilmington

News you won’t see on CNN UPDATE – In Friday’s News Roundup, I showed you this video of two Biden fans assaulting a 7 year-old child outside of the Democrat Party’s convention in Wilmington, Delaware on Thursday:

As of yesterday, both of these deranged women were arrested and charged with multiple felonies by local law enforcement officials. According to WDEL in Wilmington, the first woman arrested was identified as 21 year-old Olivia M. Winslow:

A 21-year-old Wilmington woman was arrested in connection with an anti-Trump incident, that was captured on video that’s gone viral, on the final night of the virtual Democratic National Convention on Wilmington’s Riverfront.

Olivia M. Winslow was handcuffed Friday, August 21, 2020, after Wilmington Police were called to the 600 block of Justison Street the evening before for reports of an offensive touching incident involving a 7-year-old boy.

Winslow faces charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child.

[End]

The second woman was arrested a bit later in the day. Her name is Camryn Amy:

Court records obtained by WDEL report the victim telling police Amy “forcefully” snatched a political sign from her hand while Winslow stole the MAGA hat and handed it to her alleged accomplice. Winslow is also accused of knocking a hat off an adult woman’s head. As the victim’s 7-year-old son went to retrieve the hat off the ground, Amy allegedly attempted to stomp on the hat, but stomped on the boy’s hand, according to statements in court records. The little boy wasn’t hurt, but did begin to cry, police said.

Amy was accused of punching a third victim, a man, in the face, resulting in a small laceration to his lip which caused him “substantial pain” the victim told police in court records. Amy then allegedly threw the MAGA hat over a fence and struck the adult woman in the face with a closed fist, which did not result in injury, court records said.

Amy is facing the same charges as Winslow–first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, and endangering the welfare of a child–along with an additional two counts of offensive touching. She was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in lieu of $45,000 secured bond.

[End]

In case you’re wondering, the Mayor of Wilmington is a guy named Mike Purzycki. He’s a Democrat, but he’s also a tough SOB who doesn’t put up with nonsense like this and doesn’t hamstring his police from doing their jobs. In other words, he’s not a Marxist activist funded by George Soros like the communist Democrat Mayors in Portland, Minneapolis, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland and many other big cities around the country.

There is still real justice in America. You just have to look somewhere other than CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the WaPo or the three major broadcast network news divisions to find anyone reporting about it.

Tired of all this #WINNING yet? – On the even of the start of the Republican National Convention, President Donald Trump will hold a press conference at 5:00 pm CT to announce a “major therapeutic breakthrough on the China Virus,” according to White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

McEnany’s announcement came a few hours after Trump had sent out a tweet criticizing the FDA and its Director, Stephen Hahn, for the efforts by some at the agency to slow-play the development of drugs and vaccines related to the viral gift from the ChiCom government:

Ouch. That obviously lit a fire under Hahn’s butt, and naturally the Democrats and their corrupt media toadies are going apoplectic over it. In a typically slanted piece by the juvenile delinquents who run The Hill, San Fran Nan is quoted thusly:

“The FDA has a responsibility to approve drugs, judging on their safety and their efficacy, not by a declaration from the White House about speed and politicizing the FDA,” Pelosi said during a rare Saturday press briefing in the Capitol.

“This was a very dangerous statement on the part of the president,” she added. “Even for him, it went beyond the pale in terms of how he would jeopardize the health and well-being of the American people.”

[End]

The Speaker then went to her office for a dinner of designer ice cream and bourbon.

Right now, she and the  members of the White House Press Corps are developing a set of moronic and inflammatory questions to ask the President at today’s presser. Because that’s what they do.

Meanwhile, in Portland, Oregon… – You just cannot make this stuff up. On Saturday, a group of pro-police demonstrators had a permit to hold a demonstration at Terry Schrunk Plaza in Portland. Knowing that his Democrat party-sponsored Antifa/BLM rioters would show up to attack this permitted demonstration, communist Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler issued the following message:

Wheeler issued a second tweet saying, “The Portland Police Bureau will be monitoring. Their primary objective is life safety. Please adhere too their direction to help keep the events safe.”

Now, this message comes from a mayor who has allowed these rioters to engage in violence and spew hate speech all over the city of Portland for 85 consecutive days and nights, all the while refusing to allow his police department to do its job. Note that he says his police would be there “monitoring.” As it turns out, that’s basically all they did.

Here are some video clips of the day’s hijinks as reported by real journalist Andy Ngo:

And so it went, all very predictable without effective police action. The ongoing riots continued in communist Democrat-run Seattle overnight as well, and the utter lawlessness sponsored by the Democrat Party in those two cities has now spread to Denver:

In case you’re wondering, Denver’s Mayor, Michael Hancock, is a communist Democrat.

Who could have possibly seen that coming?

That is all.

Betting on a Coronavirus Vaccine Could be a Lousy Gamble

Guest Piece by Gregg Updike

I am prefacing this with the acknowledgement that I am not a medical professional or expert.  I am just trying to apply some common sense to what we see happening in this current Wuhan Virus pandemic.

Just six or so months ago that there was a huge debate about how a large anti-virus movement was coming to the forefront where a significant percentage of the population was virulently against government mandating vaccinating their children for the standard diseases like measles and other largely eradicated diseases like polio and whooping cough.  The debate was raging back then with my Senator, Lamar Alexander (RINO) TN, calling for people to heed government warnings and vaccinate their children.  Now I am hearing crickets on this issue and almost everyone seems to be saying we MUST have a COVID-19 vaccine ASAP, but best case scenario is 12-18 months – which would not even be in time for the next active winter (2020-21) season.

It is amazing how many vaccinations are available at a drug store right now.  A shingles vaccine is among the newest that I’m aware of.  Like everything in life, things have to be used in moderation.  Apparently Big Pharma is behind this movement to push vaccines for virtually every ailment.  The only vaccine I take is for tetanus every ten years because I work in an environment where I could be exposed.

When I was in the Navy, I was forced to get a flu shot ever year, and I got sick with flu-like symptoms about half the time.  Recent figures that I have heard say on average the ‘government approved’ yearly flu shot is only about 30-40% effective – not a very good ‘success’ rate.  I refuse to inject my body with a cocktail of chemicals of unknown effectiveness just because the government or CDC says I should.  While I am a strong proponent of taking logical preventive care, I do not believe becoming a CDC pincushion is the answer to overall good health.

I am very thankful and fortunate to be in good health and not susceptible to viruses including the flu and common cold, and the various vaccinations are beneficial to many, the typical government one size fits all is the answer to every problem or disease is unlikely to work in this case.  Especially when there are so many strains (why it is called COVID-19?) of this China Virus and why there are so many flu strains that change from year to year which require the tuning of the vaccine to effectively counter whatever flu strain is prevalent or active in a particular year. It really is a crapshoot as to how effective a flu vaccine is going to be in a given year which is why we still experience 30-60,000 ‘regular’ flu deaths annually.

COVID-19 will likely be no different, especially if it changes from year to year.  What if we get a COVID-19 vaccine and we all get shots for it next year – assuming by some miracle, the CDC develops one and the FDA approves it and it is universally available for next year’s season, and COVID-20 is the next threat?  Aren’t we then back to square one?

I also understand the experts are always trying to anticipate which flu strain will be active in the next season, but given a 30-40% success rate on the ‘ordinary’ flu vaccination, I’m not terribly confident in the CDC’s ability to anticipate the correct COVID strain on a yearly basis – particularly if some (bad actor) adversary decides to inflict another round of biological warfare on its economic or ideological rivals.  This is not meant to be a shot at the efforts of the CDC; it is just the reality of how difficult it is to fight the unknown.

One of my concerns is if we keep inoculating ourselves with more and more unnatural drugs or chemicals, we will upset our bodies’ natural ability to combat many other bugs that we fight off normally and naturally with a great degree of success.  We may well set in motion a teeter-totter effect in our bodies much like an addict needs to take uppers to stay awake, and downers to go to sleep resulting in a vicious cycle that could have a much more negative effect than if the vast majority of people would just take normal common sense care and allow our bodies to heal themselves.

Another concern is that we will begin seeing this ambulance chasing lawyer’s commercials in five years:

“If you have received shots containing the Anti-COVID-19 drug ABC produced by drug company XYZ, between 2021, and 2022, and have suffered itchy watery eyes, runny nose, chapped lips, excessive underarm perspiration, split hair ends, cracked nails, groin itch, and athletes’ foot, call the law office of Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe and we’ll sue (extort)  the ever loving Schiff out of them on your behalf with no cost to you unless we win for you”.  It could be another lottery day for another profession that needs to be reined in.

And about these lawsuits against companies that manufacture FDA or EPA approved products – how come the governmental approving agency is not sued, or held accountable for the resulting damages?  Why does a company such as XYZ, who spent the time and took the monetary risk to get a working product produced and approved by the government, have to ALWAYS face the repercussions of crippling lawsuits when they played by the rules and through no malice on their part, constantly run the risk of getting screwed by our system of injustice?

I suspect that is one of the main reasons over 90% of our drugs are produced in CHINA.

I am not looking to hold a pity-party for Big-Pharma, or any other company – just looking to be fair and objective.

That is all.

Mid-Day Update: DOJ Investigating Burr, Accountability for Chloroquine Critics

The Mid-Day Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Boom. Will we actually get a little justice from the Department of Justice? – Ok, the report is from CNN, so don’t get your hopes up overly-much, but still: CNN reported Monday morning that the DOJ is coordinating with the SEC to investigate the suspicious stock trades made by RINO North Carolina Senator Richard Burr:

The Justice Department has started to probe a series of stock transactions made by lawmakers ahead of the sharp market downturn stemming from the spread of coronavirus, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The inquiry, which is still in its early stages and being done in coordination with the Securities and Exchange Commission, has so far included outreach from the FBI to at least one lawmaker, Sen. Richard Burr, seeking information about the trades, according to one of the sources.
Public scrutiny of the lawmakers’ market activity has centered on whether members of Congress sought to profit from the information they obtained in non-public briefings about the virus epidemic.
Burr, the North Carolina Republican who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee, has previously said that he relied only on public news reports as he decided to sell between $628,000 and $1.7 million in stocks on February 13. Earlier this month, he asked the Senate Ethics Committee to review the trades given “the assumption many could make in hindsight,” he said at the time.
[End]

If you remember, early reports on suspicious stock trades made by various senators during February also included trades made by Democrat Dianne Feinstein and Republican Kelly Loeffler. Both Feinstein and Loeffler were able to establish plausible deniability through having put their securities into blind trusts managed by professional financial advisors. Burr, on the other hand, laughably claimed to have made his decision based on reports he watched on CNBC, even though he made them almost immediately following having received a disturbing briefing on the potential impacts of the coronavirus.

His position here is frankly indefensible, and everyone involved has to know it. But we all know how corrupted the DOJ remains even under current Attorney General William Barr, and how it works to protect members in good standing of the DC Swamp. Given that Burr qualifies as a life member of the Swamp thanks to his utterly corrupt chairmanship of the Senate Intelligence Committee, everyone should temper any hope of the DOJ actually making any effort to do anything other than cover this entire episode up.

Put your health where your narrative is, Democrats. – This morning’s Campaign Update covered the FDA’s move to approve hydroxycholoroquine for prescription use in fighting the Wuhan Virus, COVID-19. That news has now been supplemented by the news that the health agencies in both France and Italy have now issued similar approvals, as scientific and anecdotal evidence of the drug’s effectiveness in treating the virus continues to mount.

Yet, despite all of this official adoption of this safe, well-known, affordable and plentiful drug for treating the Wuhan Virus, Democrats and their corrupt media toadies here in the U.S. continue their campaign to demonize hydroxychloroquine for purely political purposes. In one of the latest moves on this front, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered a huge shipment of the drug while Democrat governors in Nevada and Michigan were issuing orders to prevent their citizens from benefiting from its use.

Meanwhile, corrupt media outlets like CNN continue to issue biased reports denying the growing body of evidence confirming the drug’s effectiveness:

Given the rank dishonesty and danger to normal citizens involved in this ongoing false Democrat/media narrative, here is a humble proposition:

President Trump should appoint an “Accountability Czar.” This person’s job would be to compile an official list of all the craven Democrat politicians and corrupt media outlets who are pushing this latest propaganda hoax, and to coordinate with the CDC, the FDA and state and local officials to ensure that no one who engages in this hoax in an active way is able to obtain treatment involving hydroxychloroquine in the tragic event that they become ill with the Wuhan Virus.

Let’s allow these corrupt individuals to put their health where their narrative is, and see how it all turns out for them. Hell, I’ll even volunteer for the job.

That is all.

Positive Signals From Trump and Barr

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

This is a tweet to remember. – Many, including yours truly, have expressed concerns that the “cure” for this Chinese virus being prescribed by the federal, state and local governments may, if it becomes any sort of long-term effort, end up creating an economic catastrophe of such proportions that it would end up being worse than the effects of the virus itself. Last night, it became apparent that President Donald Trump shares that concern.

At 10:50 p.m. eastern time Sunday evening, the President issued this all-caps tweet:

This can only be taken as a positive signal that the President at least intends for this massive closing of a huge portion of our national economy to be a temporary phenomenon. With the questionable motives of Anthony Fauci and the CDC, and the natural inclination by bureaucrats at the FDA to work to prolong timelines in their endless turf protection efforts, it is good to know that, while the President has rightly followed most of their recommendations to this point, he remains skeptical and focused on producing the best possible outcome for the American people.

For further emphasis on this message, the President re-tweeted it at around noon ET on Monday, as this piece was being written. It is clearly something he wants all of his various audiences – you, the corrupt media, congress and his team of advisors – to understand. This is an extremely positive signal.

Meanwhile, on the John Durham front… – In an interview published Monday morning in the Wall Street Journal, Attorney General William Barr made sure to let it be known that his and U.S. Attorney John Durham’s effort to “investigate the investigators” has not fallen victim to the Chinese virus. From a report in the Washington Examiner:

Attorney General William Barr told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published Monday that Durham, the top federal prosecutor in Connecticut, was in Washington, D.C., last week working on the high-profile inquiry with staffers.

“There’s some discombobulation, but part of what we’re trying to do is keep up the mission,” Barr said of the Justice Department’s commitment to proceed with criminal investigations, prioritize coronavirus-related fraud prosecutions, keep the justice system functioning amid court closures and trial suspensions, and pursue other Trump administration priorities during a deadly outbreak.

Last week, Fox News reported that Durham was on pace to finish his “investigation of the investigators” by the summer. One source “suggested the investigation could end as soon as July.” But another “said it could be closer to September, based on Durham’s progress, which could be hindered by the coronavirus pandemic rocking the nation and the globe.”

Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, also said this month that Durham’s inquiry is “due to be completed sometime this summer.”
[End]

So, at least if you believe William Barr – a prospect that becomes harder and harder as time goes on without a single indictment of any of the treasonous members of the Obama-era Coup Cabal – Mr. Durham is still on the job and working towards some kind of conclusion.  That conclusion had ultimately better include multiple indictments and prosecutions of the real bad actors who worked so hard to destroy our democratic processes, and not just of low-level flunkies who make convenient scapegoats.

Failure to do that would create a devastating blow to millions of Americans’ faith in our legal justice system.

So, thanks for the positive update, Mr. Barr, but some real actions would speak much louder than your comforting words.

Or, as The King would have put it:

A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby

That is all.
