Thursday News Roundup: The Trump Administration is Officially Over

Here we see (l to r) Gerrold Nadler, Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi responding to the news yesterday that the barbarians are at the gate:

Image may contain: 5 people

Ok, that isn’t really them, but it might as well be.

Isn’t it interesting that the same DC Swamp class of politicians, bureaucrats, lobbyists and corrupt journalists who have allowed Big Tech to censor our free speech, just gave $700 billion away to foreign countries while awarding the little people with $600 for their troubles, deprived millions of Americans of jobs and small businesses and shut down our churches and schools under the false pretense of fighting a virus have no suddenly formed a consensus that it’s all Trump’s fault? Funny how that works.

Why, even the former presidents weighed in on the matter:

Hey, remind me what they all got together to say when this happened:

MSNBC on Twitter

That was October 4, 2018, when the Hart and Russell buildings were mobbed by Democrats protesting the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh. Members of the Senate like Rand Paul were accosted and physically threatened by these activists in the halls of the Russell building. Wonder what the presidential trio said then. Oh, nothing? Well, of course.

Someone should really let Mitt know that congress has a public approval rating in the low-teens among American adults. – In his self-serving speech during yesterday’s DC Swamp Kabuki theater rubber stamping of the electoral vote, Mitt Romney told his fellow senators that they’re “an extraordinary group of people” & “he’s proud to serve” with all of them. That got a round of applause, because of course it did.

Here’s the biggest tragedy of the day:

The woman shot in that video was Ashli Babbit, a 14-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Rabble rousers on social media this morning are squealing either that a) she was a violent criminal who deserved to be shot or b) that her shooting by the lone Capitol Police officer on the scene was a completely unjustified “assassination” of an innocent person.

As is always the case, the video shows that the truth lies somewhere in the middle, doesn’t it? That looks to me like a Capitol Police officer who is being confronted with an angry crowd. He doesn’t know if that crowd is carrying guns, knives or other deadly weapons, but he does know that his job is to prevent the rioters from entering further into the Capitol Building.

Shamefully, some pro-Trump agitators on Twitter and Facebook are spreading the lie that Ms. Babbit was not trying to climb through the window that the video clearly shows her trying to climb through, and that she was murdered by the officer in cold blood while she was just standing around, minding her own business. That’s gaslighting on a CNN scale, folks. If you are helping to spread this and myriad other lies being spread around right now by the rabble rousers on either side, you are part of the problem and you need to stop.

Here is more about Ms. Babbit, from a report at Newsweek:

Ashli Elizabeth Babbit, one of four people who died in connection with the violent riots at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, was a 14-year U.S. Air Force veteran and resident of Ocean Beach, a neighborhood in San Diego, California.

She was “transported to a local hospital where, after all life-saving efforts failed, she was announced deceased,” said Police Chief Robert Contee of Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

The woman began climbing through a broken window near the Speaker’s Lobby at the Capitol building before a single gunshot was heard and she fell back to the ground.

Babbit, who was a high-level security official throughout her tenure with the Air Force, was a strong supporter of President Donald Trump, her husband told KUSI News.

Her previous husband, Timothy McEntee, noted the pair were married from April 2005 to May 2019 and they served in the Air Force together.

Describing her as “a wonderful woman with a big heart and a strong mind” McEntee told The San Diego Union-Tribune: “I am in a state of shock and feel absolutely terrible for her family. She loved America with all her heart. It’s truly a sad day.”

[End]

RIP, Ashli Babbit.

Here’s what needs to happen now if America is to remain a truly civil society: The organizers and leaders of yesterday’s riots need to be identified by law enforcement and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, including being held accountable for Ms. Babbit’s death. It is crystal clear now that at least some of the organizers and leaders of the riot were Antifa terrorists who infiltrated yesterday’s enormous crowd. It is equally clear, however, that many who broke into the Capitol Building were, like Ms. Babbit, Trump supporters.

All of them must be relentlessly hunted down by local, state and federal law enforcement officials and brought to justice.

But I won’t hold my breath waiting for that to happen, and none of you should, either.

Meanwhile, in Riot City USA… – Oh, hey, guess what was happening in Portland, Oregon last night?

It was the city’s third officially-declared riot in the first six days of 2021. But, see, that riot’s ok, because it was conducted by “peaceful” Antifa and BLM terrorists. Nothing to see here, folks, move along.

That is the state of today’s America, like it or not.

And this is how it all ends for President Donald Trump, not with a whimper, but with a bang. His presidency still has 13 days to run, but it ended for all intents and purposes when several thousand of his supporters decided to bust through the perimeter fencing that surrounds the Capitol grounds and hundreds of them stormed the building itself along with a group of obvious Antifa agitators.

If the President is lucky and behaves himself, he will be allowed to serve out his remaining 13 days and leave the White House voluntarily. Or, his cabinet and/or might decide to remove him from office using the 25th amendment should he continue to make (rightful) claims of a stolen election.

Like it or not, rightly or wrongly, President Trump and his supporters yesterday handed his enemies the opening they’ve spent the last four years fruitlessly searching for to use to end his presidency. Make no mistake about it: They will use it.

That is all.

Pence Will Not Object to Fraudulent Biden Electors [UPDATED]

Well, I do hate to say I told you so, but I did tell you this would happen:

Pence released his statement moments after President Trump had delivered his speech to the enormous throng of supporters in Washington DC today. Again, the Veep didn’t really have a choice here: He simply does not possess any such authority under the Constitution or the law. As I pointed out last week, if any vice president truly possessed such powers, John F. Kennedy, George W. Bush and Donald Trump would have never served in the presidency.

Meanwhile, some really angry people are doing this at the Capitol Building:

Are they Trump supporters, as the media will undoubtedly claim? Or are they Antifa?

Good question. If they’re Trump supporters, they’re doing their movement terrible harm.

UPDATE: And here is the result of this insanity – multiple capital police injured by the idiot rioters:

Stop this madness, now.

That is all.

Sunday News Roundup: Dozen GOP Senators Will Oppose Electoral Cert and San Fran Nan Polices Pronouns

San Fran Nan goes full-on SJW. – San Fran Nan, under deep pressure from OAC and her gang of lunatic leftists, issued a new set of House rules on Saturday that in part will eliminate the use of proper pronouns that members can use to identify one another. In a sop to the transgender lobby, proper English language pronouns like “he” and “she” will be replaced with improper pronouns like “xe” and “they”.

No, I’m not making this up. From a story at Axios:

The U.S. House of Representatives is poised to rewrite its rules — swapping out male and female references like “he” and “she” for gender-neutral terms — in a diversity and inclusion push by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats that’s drawing scorn from Republicans.

Why it matters: The proposal comes as transgender and non-binary candidates are being elected around the country, progressives are gaining influence in the Democratic politics and U.S. schools and companies are adjusting policies and language to reflect society’s changing views on sexuality and gender identification.

  • The proposed changes were announced Friday ahead of two pivotal runoffs in Georgia on Jan. 5 to decide which party controls the Senate — and could stoke turnout among its supporters or opponents.
  • Members are expected to consider the package next week.

[End]

In a story at The Hill, House Rules Chair Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) is quoted as saying that “This proposal also shines a light on those struggling to get ahead in America today and ensures we remain focused on the most pressing issues facing our nation.” Yes, friends, it is now the official policy of the Democrat Party that pronouns are among the “most pressing issues facing our nation.”

Not Section 230; not getting our men and women out of myriad wars in foreign hell-holes; not a balloning debt or a fading economy or reining in out-of-control governors; the Democrat Party is focused on PRONOUNS.

Just so y’all know, my preferred pronouns are “Bubba” and “Tex.” Please be sure that you use them properly, as in “Bubba’s fixin’ to go fix that leaky sprinkler system,” or “Tex ate them enchiladas like a hog eats slop.”

Holy crap.

Fauci continues boiling the American frog. – The little menace to society was at it again on Saturday, moving the goal posts of Bill Gates’s globalist Great Reset down the field even further. This time, Fauci, in is own inimicable way, not so subtly suggests that it would be perfectly reasonable for the government to start issuing “COVID-19 vaccine passports” that would limit travel, school and attending public gathering to only those who have taken the shots, a step I had warned you about a week ago.

Gee, what a surprise.

From a story at the Daily Caller:

In an interview with Newsweek, Dr. Anthony Fauci floated the possibility that the coronavirus vaccine would be made mandatory for things like school and travel.

Dr. Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) explained that there could be a “possibility of introducing COVID-19 vaccine passports,” as well as making the vaccine mandatory at the local level, Newsweek reported.

When asked if there was the possibility that the vaccine could be mandatory for school Fauci explained, “That is possible but that’s something that’s mandated at the state level and city level. A citywide school system might require it in some cities but not other cities. And that’s what I mean by things not being done centrally but locally.”

[End]

As always, Fauci carefully couches his fascist ambitions as mere possibilities and as mandates that would have to be placed on the population by others. But the reality is that his role in the steadily-advancing assault on individual freedoms has been that of the “expert” stalking horse, the media darling who consistently awards his seal of approval for these anti-constitutional actions in advance so that the tyrant governors and mayors can claim their brutish treatment of their citizens is supported by “science.”

Herman Goering would have absolutely worshipped Anthony Fauci.

Sen. Josh Hawley gets some company. – I’ve spent the last several days praising Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley for being the first – and until yesterday, only – GOP senator to stand up and say he will challenge congress’s January 6 effort to certify the clearly fraudulent Electoral Vote. I couldn’t help wondering out loud why normally stalwart conservatives like Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, Rand Paul and a handful of other GOP senators weren’t standing with Hawley and his defiance of Mitch McConnell’s “go along to get along” edict on the matter.

Well, yesterday, Sen. Cruz and 10 more Republican senators decided to finally step up and be counted among those who are properly disturbed by election theft happening all around them, further demanding the conduct of a “10-day emergency audit” of the vote. But interestingly, Senators Paul and Cotton are not among this Gang of 11.

From a story at The Hill:

Eleven Senate Republicans on Saturday announced that they will vote for objections to the Electoral College results Wednesday, when Congress convenes in a joint session to formally count the vote.

GOP Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas), Ron Johnson (Wis.), James Lankford (Okla.), Steve Daines (Mont.), John Kennedy (La.), Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.) and Mike Braun (Ind.) and Sens.-elect Cynthia Lummis (Wyo.), Roger Marshall (Kan.), Bill Hagerty (Tenn.) and Tommy Tuberville (Ala.) said in a joint statement that they will vote against accepting the election results until there is a 10-day audit.

“Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states,” they said. “Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.

The senators didn’t say in their joint statement if they plan to object to the results from specific states, how they would divvy up those objections or if they would just vote in support of challenges to the Electoral College results if they reach the Senate.

[End]

Why Cotton or Paul are not among the now-dozen GOP senators willing to lodge a challenge is anyone’s guess, since neither has been asked or chosen to comment as far as I can tell. Regardless, you now have a dozen GOP senators and well over 100 members of the House who have figured out that the Trump support base, and thus, at least 80% of the GOP’s entire support base, is not going to be placated on this particular issue.

The fact that so many other GOP members of congress still haven’t figured that fact of life out says nothing good about the future of the Republican Party. Those folks are whistling past their own political graveyards.

That is all.

No, Mike Pence Can’t Unilaterally Stop the Electoral Vote Certification

Let’s kill this horrible rumor dead, shall we? – Listen up: Vice President Pence does not have the power to determine whether or not congress certifies the electoral vote on January 6. He just doesn’t, and no amount of disinformation spread around social media platforms is going to change that immutable fact of life. Patrick Byrne and L. Lin Wood have been spreading that utter and complete nonsense for several days now (see below).

This stuff has also been making the rounds on Facebook and other social media platforms. It is false. It is reprehensibly false, and it is having the effect of impugning Pence’s reputation and creating a potentially dangerous situation for him and his security detail when it becomes obvious on January 6th that none of this is going to happen.

I mean, think about it: If any vice president really had any such authority, would Richard Nixon have become president in 1969? What about John Kennedy in 1961? Both of those men “won” the electoral vote over sitting vice presidents (Nixon in 1960, Humphrey in 1968) by extremely narrow margins, and Kennedy did it amid (true) allegations that the mob had stolen several states for him. If any vice president really had these powers, George W. Bush would have never become president, nor would Donald Trump, for that matter. I mean, if the sitting Veep can control the outcome, why wouldn’t the Democrat Party have simply instructed Biden to do that rather than engage in 4 years of a slow-rolling coup d’etat?

Apply Occam’s Razor here, folks: The clear answer to the questions above is that no vice president actually has any such powers. Period.

Vice President Pence has one role on January 6, and that is to preside over what is almost always a pro forma, uneventful joint session of congress during which the Electoral College results will be approved, normally via a motion for unanimous consent. If one member of the House and one member of the Senate object, however, then the joint session will be dissolved and each house will hold a brief debate before casting a role call vote on the matter.

As I reported late yesterday, the latter will be the case this time, as Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley is defying the will of Mitch McConnell and planning to file an objection, along with about two dozen members of the House. The debate will be for “up to 2 hours,” after which the vote will be held. The positive is that it will force every member of both parties to certify these clearly fraudulent election results by name for posterity. The negative part is that it has no chance whatsoever of changing the outcome.

VP Pence is not going to change that outcome, either, so put that out of your minds right now. Despite the nonsense being spread by Byrne, Wood and others, he simply has no authority whatsoever to do so.

Pence will preside over the joint session, period. That is it, and his role is very restricted while doing so. He has no power to make motions, to participate in any debate that might break out or to participate in the vote. His role is so restricted on that particular day, in fact, that he doesn’t even get to perform his normal duties as President of the Senate in the very unlikely event that a tie vote on the matter should occur.

I am aware that some other “conservative” bloggers who I won’t name are spreading this nonsense in order to attract clicks as well. I could do the same thing and no doubt drive a lot of additional traffic here, but I’m not here to do that, and I’m not going to blow smoke up your skirts. Just know that when you see other websites pushing this nonsense, that is what they are there to do, and if you like being lied to, then by all means continue to click on their stuff. They will no doubt appreciate it.

That is all.

Time to Cross WalMart off of Your Shopping List [UPDATED]

In what is almost an unbelievable turn of events, even for this horrible year of 2020, the official Twitter account for WalMart just outright attacked GOP Senator Josh Hawley today.

After Senator Hawley became the first GOP senator to make it known that he will object to the January 6 certification of the Electoral vote, WalMart weighed in with a response that reads “Go ahead. Get your 2-hour debate. #soreloser”.

Image

That a major corporation would weigh in on a political issue with a partisan political response is no surprise. We see that happening all the time.

The surprise here is that the partisan political response comes not from some Big Tech firm, but from WalMart, a retail chain of mega-stores that appeal largely to America’s lower middle class shoppers, a very large chunk of which makes up a very large chunk of the support base of Donald J. Trump.

WalMart’s decision to take this hyper-partisan stance on this crucial issue now gives Trump supporters a prime opportunity to extract some accountability from this major retailer by engaging in a simple boycott. While boycotts on media outlets like CNN and MSNBC are completely ineffective, given that such media outlets don’t want to attract conservative viewers and only serve as loss-leaders for their giant corporate umbrellas, a boycott of a profit-motivated retailer such as WalMart by 75 million Americans would likely be extremely effective.

Making Wal-Mart an even more prime target for such a boycott is the fact that it is a company that sources roughly 70-80% of its products not from U.S. suppliers, but from China:

Image

So, all you Trump supporters, listen up: If you currently include WalMart or Sam’s Clubs among your regular shopping routine, the time has come to cross it off your list. You have never been handed a more prime opportunity to extract a little accountability from any major corporation.

Just do it.

UPDATE: About 2 minutes after I posted this piece, Senator Hawley just posted the following reply to Walmart:

B-O-O-M.
