Thursday’s Debate Will Now Have a Mute Button to Help Addled Joe Biden Compete

At mid-afternoon on Monday, Trump Campaign Manager Bill Stepien sent a letter over to the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) complaining about the fact that what was supposed to be a debate over foreign policy suddenly shifted focus after the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop began to come out into the public domain:

As you can see, the letter accurately renames the CPD the “Biden Debate Commission,” and also warns the CPD that the Trump Campaign is greatly concerned about rumors that it was about to add a mute button to the proceedings that would effectively work in Biden’s favor.

Less than an hour after Stepien sent this letter, the CPD announced it was indeed going to allow someone behind the scenes to mute the microphone of either candidate when they are off the “clock.”

From a report at Fox News:

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) will mute President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden during the two-minute response times allotted to their opponents for commenting on topics during Thursday’s debate in Nashville.

The commission said in a statement that it “had determined that it is appropriate to adopt measures intended to promote adherence to agreed-upon rules and inappropriate to make changes to those rules.”

Also included in the debate will be an open discussion forum that won’t include the mute option. Thursday’s debate will consist of six 15-minute segments, totaling 90 minutes in all as in the first debate.

[End]

Hell, why not just put a shock collar on the President?

Again, this is yet another reason why, as I urged yesterday, President Trump should not participate in this final debate. If he participates, then he legitimizes this process yet again, and every rule the CPD wants to implement on Thursday, including the mute button.

A debate with a mute button is not a debate at all – it is a forum. A debate is by definition supposed to be a free exchange of ideas between the candidates, with both participants able to directly question and rebut their opponent.

And let’s be honest about this mute button: It’s only being implemented because everyone knows about Biden’s advancing dementia and his utter inability to keep up with Donald Trump in a free exchange.

Think of it in boxing terms: Joe Biden is an aged ex-champion Floyd Patterson in 1965, and Donald Trump is Muhammed Ali. Everyone knew leading up to that fight that Patterson had lost his edge and had no chance to truly be competitive with Ali. The result was 12 long rounds of Ali toying with Patterson, peppering him with jab after jab and the occasional uppercut as the aging ex-champ flailed away and tried to cover up, before Ali finally, mercifully knocked him out with a devastating flurry in the 12th round.

On This Day: Muhammad Ali defeats Floyd Patterson again - Boxing News

The only way Patterson could have possibly been competitive in that fight would have been for the World Boxing Congress to have one of Patterson’s trainers as the referee and to tie one of Ali’s hands behind his back. Ali would have still won, but Patterson might have been able to land some blows in the process of losing.

By the same token, the Trump-hating swamp snakes at the CPD know that Biden has zero ability to compete with Trump, and are doing everything they can to tilt the ring in Biden’s favor. The moderator is a corrupt Democrat activist, the subject matter reads like the Democrat Party manifesto, and now they want to give the TV producers the ability to completely cut the President off whenever things turn sour for their guy.

That is what is happening here, and it is an utter and complete travesty that should not be given any legitimacy by the President’s participation in it. The Trump campaign should announce today that it will not participate in any debate process in which the rules are fundamentally changed at the last minute to benefit the Democrats. It should notify the Commission that the President will not participate unless the obviously-biased moderator is replaced, the mute button is removed and the subject matter of the debate is returned to its original intent. This is not the debate the Campaign and RNC agreed to, and it should not be held.

More than that, Ronna Romney McDaniel and the RNC should also send a formal letter to the CPD notifying them that, unless the President’s demands are met, the Republican Party will no longer allow its presidential candidates to participate in any future debates organized by this entity, due to this year’s utter and complete tilting of the playing field.

Enough of this fraud. President Trump has all the momentum going in his direction in this campaign right now. Thursday’s debate would do nothing to help that, but could do it harm with a bad Presidential performance. There is no advantage for the Trump campaign to legitimize the process anymore.

Boycott it, schedule a campaign rally in a key swing state during the same time slot and be done with it.

ENOUGH.

That is all.

Monday News Roundup: President Trump Must Boycott the Final Debate

At 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning, Joe Biden’s elder-abusing handlers called a “lid.” So, what’s new, you ask? Well, the “lid” is going to last until the final debate, scheduled for Thursday, October 22.

That’s right: The Democrat Party’s Unfrozen Caveman Candidate, plagued by dementia and scandal, is currently in the midst of a four-day “lid” just two weeks away from Election Day.

It’s the campaign that never was.

Meanwhile, while Creepy Uncle McWifeMolester was holed up in his basement hooked up to his handy IV, President Donald Trump campaigned in Nevada and California, where he drew massive crowds like this one just for driving down the street:

That’s in California, folks, the state in which Biden supposedly leads President Trump by 34 points in the media-sponsored polls. But you’re expected to believe without critical thought or comment that the man who draws crowds like this one everywhere he goes in this country is losing to the guy who regularly speaks to empty parking lots and junior high gymnasiums.

Yeah, that’s not happening.

Meanwhile, this is the caliber of person Quid Pro China Joe is sending out to represent him on the airwaves. – Watch as Fox News’s Leland Vittert, a rank Trump-hating liberal, eviscerates Biden surrogate Jenna Arnold about the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop on Sunday:

And there you have the real reason why Biden is going to spend the next four days hiding in his basement: His campaign has no earthly idea what to say about the graft and corruption already reported by the New York Post and Fox News, and Biden’s people know there is much, much more to come from that apparent treasure trove of depravity and crime.

Even worse, Biden’s corrupt toadies in the mainstream news media are also at a loss about how to defend their man on this, and have now decided to simply try to change the subject back to fear porn about the China Virus. Yes, friends, we are back to all China Virus all the time in our national and local news casts, with the focus being on a rising level of new “cases” because the death rate just keeps dropping, a fact that most Americans would applaud but the media hates because it is inconvenient to their preferred narrative.

If you believe that sudden, coordinated shift in focus by every media outlet in America is just the natural result of good news work, you may be extremely naïve. Perhaps fatally so.

All of which finally brings me to the point of this piece, which is that the President must boycott Thursday’s last debate. He must do this for several reasons:

First, the playing field for this debate is stacked against him to the point of abject absurdity. The “moderator,” NBC White House fake reporter Kristen Welker, is a lifelong Democrat whose parents have given tens of thousands of dollars to the Biden/Obama campaigns. She is one of the most ridiculously hostile and vapid members of the White House press corps, and the President should not legitimize her as a professional by allowing her to interrogate him and constantly interrupt him on Thursday.

The White House press corps should be abandoned and banned from the White House grounds as the enemies of the people that they are, not treated as if they were actual journalists.

Second, Welker’s chosen topics for this debate read like they were written for her by the Biden/Harris Harris/Biden campaign, which they probably were, come to think of it. Not a single question about the economy? Nothing on immigration? Nothing on the historic outbreak of Trump-brokered Middle East peace deals that have now seen him receive three Nobel Peace Prize nominations?

But Welker does plan to spend 10-15 minutes on “Climate Change” so she can pontificate about ‘science’ and stuff. Even worse, you know she will not spend one second demanding that Biden explain the influence racket he and his son were running out of the U.S. Naval Observatory while serving as Vice President.

Again, this approach is not something President Trump or any Republican should spend a single moment legitimizing with his presence.

Finally, the Commission on Presidential Debates needs to be blown up into a million pieces and scattered to the winds, and that has never been more obvious than it has become this year. The uniformly anti-Trump, anti-conservative, anti-Republican selections of “moderators” for this year’s debates is not really anything new, but the intensity of their obvious bias and hatred has risen to new heights.

Think about it: the Commission was so focused on tilting the playing field against the sitting POTUS that it selected one moderator who is actually a former intern for Biden. That moderator, C-Span’s Steve Scully, was so biased and dishonest that he literally disqualified himself and was suspended from his job for publicly lying to the country about his efforts to tilt the second debate.

Chris Wallace was so openly hostile to the President during the first debate that he actually spent more time debating Trump than Biden did. And now, President Trump is expected to just show up on Thursday and pretend that the Commission’s third selected Democrat activist, Welker, is somehow legitimate?

No. No, Mr. President, you must not do this. This farce, this DC Swamp Kabuki Theater pretense must come to an end. The feckless, useless Republican National Committee has allowed it to exist and demean its candidates for far, far too long.

This process must be destroyed for the good of this country, and if Donald Trump won’t do what is needed to achieve that goal, then who ever will?

The Commission on Presidential Debates must be destroyed. The time to do it is now. Just schedule a rally in Minnesota or Wisconsin or Pennsylvania for Thursday night and stop pretending any of this is legitimate.

Enough of this nonsense.

That is all.

Scully and the Mooch Provide Best Reason Yet to Blow Up the Entire Debate Farce

The Biden campaign gets its goal: no more debates. – The Commission on Presidential Debates, obviously coordinating with the Biden camp, ensured the October 15 presidential debate will not come off yesterday by announcing – without first consulting the Trump campaign – that that debate would be held “virtually,” i.e., on Zoom, basically, with the candidates participating via video from remote locations.

The obvious goal there would be to allow the addled Biden to participate while wearing an ear piece or other communications device by which his aides could feed him answers, and has literally nothing to do with the President’s recent bout with COVID-19. As is the case with so many other aspects of our society today, the China Virus is the excuse, not the problem.

Also obviously, no one involved expected President Trump to agree to such a debate, which he made clear yesterday morning in an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo. The very fact that the Commission failed to consult the Trump campaign prior to the announced change is proof they were not acting in good faith, and were coordinating with Biden’s corrupt, elder-abusing handlers.

There is a 3rd debate scheduled for October 22, but you should expect the Commission/Biden camp to find a way to get out of that one as well. Their show horse has done one dog and pony show and survived without drooling on himself, and that’s all they’re going to be willing to risk.

Timing is everything in life… – You just cannot make this stuff up, folks. Steve Scully, the fake journalist/ex-Biden intern who is scheduled to be the “moderator” of the Oct. 15 debate, created quite a stir yesterday while all of this controversy was swirling around by issuing a cryptic tweet to former Trump Advisor-turned-Trump-enemy Anthony Scaramucci.

The full text of the tweet reads “@Scaramucci should I respond to trump”. Obviously, Scully thought he was sending the Mooch a private message, but screwed up and sent a public tweet instead.

Naturally, Trump supporters responded with amazement at Scully’s failed effort at skullduggery. From a report at Fox News:

Scully, whose October 15-scheduled town hall event had been crumbling after President Trump withdrew from the now-virtual debate, sparked confusion and fury among critics, many concluding that the moderator meant to send such a message to Trump’s foe privately.

“odd thing for the next debate moderator to tweet,” Politico reporter Alex Thompson reacted.

“This is not going to help the idea that Scully is *in any way* an objective and unbiased journalist and moderator,” NewsBusters managing Curtis Houck wrote.

“We need a different moderator at the v least. This is disqualifying,” Rebeccah Heinrichs, a senior fellow at the conservative Hudson Institute, tweeted.

“It appears that our moderator for the next debate thinks he’s dm’ing with Scaramucci but accidentally tweeted at him. I’m sure he’ll be a fair and unbiased moderator,” Daily Caller’s Greg Price said.

“What? Why is the next presidential debate moderator publicly asking one of Trump’s staunchest critics in Anthony Scaramucci if he should respond to the president? In a related story, Scully once interned for Sen. Joe Biden. Optics here are horrible & underscore mistrust is media,” The Hill media reporter Joe Concha tweeted.

So, here we have the designated “moderator” of a presidential debate reaching out to one of the most discredited public figures in the entire country for advice on how to conduct himself. Given that the Mooch has become a sworn enemy of the President since leaving the White House after his disastrous 9-day stint as some sort of “communications” advisor, the optics of this episode could not be worse for the credibility of the media and Commission on Presidential Debates.

As I wrote yesterday, the entire Commission and the process it governs needs to be blown up into a million pieces and scattered to the winds. This utterly corrupt bit of DC Swamp Kabuki Theater has been allowed to unfairly slant our presidential election process for far too long. If the Republican Party won’t put an end to the farce, then it’s time for thinking conservatives to find an alternative to the Republican Party.

That is all.

Thursday News Roundup: Trump is NOT Doing a “Virtual Debate”

So, who won last night’s debate in the only measure that matters – public opinion? – The Drudge Report’s snap poll following the debate showed Vice President Mike Pence destroyed Kamala Harris by a 69-31 margin. Yikes.

Image

A similar poll conducted by the Spanish language station Telemundo arrived at an even more-lopsided 76-23 edge for the VEEP:

Mercy.

Thus, because of this very fact that Pence scored a lopsided shellacking of his sneering Valley Girl opponent, the New York Times, CNN and all the other corrupt news outlets are focusing their post-debate coverage this morning on two brief outtakes:

  1. When a fly landed on Pence’s head for a moment; and
  2. When Harris said to Pence “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking” at a point in time in which Pence had not even interrupted her.

That’s it. That is all you are going to see and hear talked about related to this debate in the corrupt mainstream news media today. Had their girl had a good night, we’d be hearing about all the debate points she scored. Trouble is, she didn’t score any points.

Thus, flies and feigned indignation it is.

So. Damn. Tiresome.

Remember, though, that Kamala Harris is the Democrat Party’s de facto presidential candidate. – No one, not even in the Democrat Party’s leadership, expects Joe Biden to remain in office for long should he win this election. Harris was the Obama faction’s favored candidate going into this election cycle, and she was hand-chosen to become Biden’s successor-in-waiting for that very reason after her own campaign for the party’s nomination crashed and burned.

If you’ve been wondering why last night was basically the first thing you have seen from Harris during the general election campaign, there’s a good reason for that. Everyone in the Democrat Party understands that she is an awful candidate who turns off everyone with whom she comes into contact. The reactions by viewers to what they saw last night as measured by those two snap polls did not surprise anyone, which is why corrupt news outlets like CNN and the Times were so prepared to leap into the lurch and try to defend her and push the DNC’s preferred narrative.

With nothing real and positive to point to in terms of Harris’s performance, they rely on these silly deflections instead.

Again, very tiresome, but utterly unsurprising.

On the whole “I’m speaking, Mr. Vice President” thing… – Why is it that feminists are all about strong women being able to stand and compete on exactly the same platform and rules as any man, until there’s a debate, when they pretend that any effort by the man to engage in some real back-and-forth with the woman is somehow “mansplaining” or bullying?

This is an incredibly sexist allegation, not towards Pence, but towards Harris, because the pretense is that, because she’s a woman, she is immune from being questioned during a debate by her opponent. Pence was simply attempting to engage with Harris as he would try to engage with a male opponent, which was exactly what leftist “feminism” pretends to be all about.

But when politics come into play, it is not about that, not at all, not even a little bit.

What made last night’s episode even worse is that Harris, being fully aware of the double-standard her media pals would impose on Pence, chose to play into it by pretending to be offended by his non-interruption. If anything, she may be an even more off-putting candidate than Hillary Clinton was, which again explains why the DNC and Biden campaign have striven so hard to keep her under wraps.

A virtual debate? Isn’t that what they all are? – News broke last night that the next presidential debate will be one of the “virtual” variety, causing the initial question of “so, what will be different?” I mean, we haven’t had a real debate between presidential candidates in this country since 1860.

The difference with this next one will, of course, be technological: Due to the President’s positive test for the China Virus, the Biden camp has insisted that it be held via Zoom or some such platform. From a story at the Washington Examiner:

“The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which the candidates would participate from separate remote locations,” the Commission on Presidential Debates said in a statement Thursday morning about the Oct. 15 event.

The change in format, made “in order to protect the health and safety of all involved with the second presidential debate,” follows the president testing positive for the coronavirus last week just two days after he debated the Democratic presidential nominee, potentially exposing Biden to the virus.

“The town meeting participants and the moderator, Steve Scully, Senior Executive Producer & Political Editor, C-SPAN Networks, will be located at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County in Miami, Florida. The White House Pool will provide coverage of the second presidential debate,” the commission said.

Earlier this week, Biden said that the debate should not be held if Trump still has the virus.

[End]

*sigh*

But wait, President Trump has not agreed to that change! – As I was typing the above, President Trump, during an interview with Maria Bartiromo, just said this:

“I heard that the commission a while ago changed debate style, and that is not acceptable to us,” Trump said. He added, “I’m not going to do a virtual debate.”

Bartiromo then followed up to make sure she had heard correctly:

“I’m not going to waste my time on a virtual debate,” Trump responded. “That’s not what debating is all about. You sit behind a computer and do a debate. It’s ridiculous.”

Hey, maybe the Commission on Presidential Debates – which needs to be completely blown into a million pieces and scattered to the winds – ought to check with both campaigns before issuing statements about format changes.

Seems like a sound business practice, anyway.

That is all.

The Commission on Presidential Debates Should be Blown up and Scattered to the Wind

So, last night we had a classic presidential/vice presidential debate: A moderator who is a Democrat activist posing as a journalist for a leftist media outlet; a moderator whose every question was slanted in a way to be hostile to the Republican and a puffball to the Democrat; a moderator who constantly interrupted the Republican but not the Democrat.

We also had a Republican candidate who was constantly interrupted and held to time restrictions, but who nonetheless attempted to answer every question that was asked of him; a Democrat candidate who was never interrupted, never held to time restrictions and has yet to answer a single question asked of her; and a Republican candidate who won the debate despite having to play a game of two on one.

Wash, rinse, repeat. This is the template for these quadrennial farces we have come to call “debates.”

Susan Page is a disgrace; Kamala Harris is an obnoxious, smirking valley girl who is really the Democrat Party’s ultimate presidential candidate; and the Commission on Presidential Debates should be blown up into a million pieces and scattered to the winds.

But in two weeks, President Donald Trump will participate in another debate with Joe Biden, one that will be moderated by another Democrat activist posing as a journalist who in fact is a former Biden intern. Yet, you are supposed to suspend your disbelief and mindlessly assume that this moderator will somehow be “fair” to the President, just as you are supposed to assume Chris Wallace was. Because, after all, they’re “journalists.”

It’s like that scene from “Ghostbusters,” where Dr. Peter Venkman is proposing to “clean” a library of ghosts using the team’s nuclear powered entrapment tools. When the facility manager questions whether this is a good idea, Venkman simply responds with “Back off, man…I’m a scientist” as if that is all the answer required.

Dr. Peter Venkman GIFs | Reaction GIFs

At some point, the Republican Party is going to have to stop pretending that “back off, man, I’m a journalist” is a satisfactory answer, because Chris Wallace and Susan Page are not journalists: They are activists for the enemy party. These “debates” are farces, and they must end. I had hoped the extremely unconventional Donald Trump would do that in 2016, but instead he used them to his advantage. He is attempting to do the same thing in this election cycle.

But Trump can do this because of the sheer force of his will and personality; he is far from a standard issue Republican. We have witnessed cycle after cycle in which GOP stiffs like Mitt Romney and John McCain and George W. Bush emerge from these 2 on 1 battles either scarred, or, in the case of Romney and McCain, irreparably damaged.

For his own part, the Vice President fared quite well. Say what we will about Pence being a bit of stiff himself, he is also tough and smart and very concise and careful in the language he uses. The contrast he provides to the smirking, giggling, bald-faced lying Harris is stark and helps the ticket from a public confidence perspective.

But in a fair set-up, one in which we either had a truly-impartial moderator or a second seat like Mollie Hemingway to offer up some tough questions directed at the Democrat, Harris’s facade would fall completely apart.

If the Commission on Presidential Debates cannot find a way to provide a more fair set up in 2024, then it is long past time to blow the entire process up. The GOP needs to quit playing the abused spouse here and refuse to put its candidates through anymore of these farces.

That is all.
