Cancel the Amy Coney Barrett Hearings, Now

Just one more reason why these hearings should not be held. – Well, two reasons, actually, that the Democrats in the Senate provided to Mitch McConnell and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham on Monday. Two glaring reasons why the Judiciary Committee hearings on the Amy Coney Barrett nomination should be cancelled now, today, and the nomination should immediately be taken to the Senate floor for an up-or-down vote.

Reason #1 was provided by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who told fawning fake reporters that he and his fellow Democrats would boycott any votes in committee or on the floor related to the nomination. Ok, well, given that, what’s the point of hearings? If every member of the minority party has made up his or her mind on the nomination and will not even show up to vote on it, why allow this farce to go on?

As I’ve pointed out before, there is no requirement for the Judiciary Committee to hold these hearings. They are a matter of Senate process, not constitutional law. In the past, the point of holding such hearings was to vet the nominee and allow the committee to render a studied judgment on his or her qualifications for the job. The point of that judgment was so that the Committee as a whole could issue a recommendation to the full Senate on whether or not to confirm the nominee. Given that not a single member of the committee – Republican or Democrat – has an open mind on the incredibly well-qualified nominee, there is no point to holding these hearings.

Besides, Judge Barrett was just vetted for her seat on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals three short years ago, and was confirmed on a bipartisan vote. How much more does this committee need to know?

This takes us to Reason #2: The Democrats made a strategic decision at Monday’s hearing to simply turn it into a campaign event revolving around the Affordable Care Act, aka, Obamacare. Every Democrat on the Committee used their 10 minute opening statements as a commercial for the ACA and why they think it should be retained. Every one of them read comments written for them by some staffer, all based on the same ACA-centered talking points. Only a handful even bothered to discuss the nomination and Judge Barrett’s qualifications in any real way.

It’s a campaign event, not a hearing. They’re focusing on the ACA instead of their real driving issue – abortion on demand, including infanticide after birth – because Obamacare polls more favorably for them than abortion does. It really is that simple.

Thus, lacking any cogent, legitimate arguments why Judge Barrett should not be confirmed, they stage a campaign rally and then promise to take their ball and go home like that pathetic little kid who lived down the street from you when you were in second grade.

McConnell and Graham should take this childish behavior by their “friends” on the other side as an opportunity to invite them all to go home. If they wish to stage campaign events related to Obamacare, then they should pay for them from their own campaign funds. There is no valid reason for Senate Republicans to enable them and allow them to conduct this joint rally on government time.

This farce should end, now.

That is all.

Why the Senate Should Confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett This Week

“I clerked for Justice Scalia more than 20 years ago, and the lessons I learned still resonate. His judicial philosophy is mine, too. A judge must apply the law as written. Judges are not policymakers, and they must be resolute in setting aside any policy views they might hold…I love the United States, and I love the United States Constitution.” – Judge Amy Coney Barrett yesterday.

That 100 word statement describes in a nutshell why Democrats and their America-hating toadies in the corrupt news media hate Judge Amy Coney Barrett and will do anything they can come up with to smear and slander her. The Constitution, and a strict interpretation of its actual words, has been anathema to the Democrat Party since Woodrow Wilson was elected in 1912. It is in fact a bane on that Party’s very existence.

With Senate Democrats lining up to announce they will not only oppose her nomination, but that they will also refuse to even meet with her when she makes the traditional courtesy visits to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and other key senators, Lindsey Graham announced on Saturday that his committee hearings on Judge Barrett’s nomination will start on October 12. If Graham is saying that publicly, then that means he has the sign-off from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to proceed with those hearings.

My only question is, why? Why are Senate Republicans agreeing to hold committee hearings at all on a nomination whose ultimate outcome is a fait accompli? No Democrat will support Barrett’s confirmation. Joe Manchin will make noises about doing that, but he will ultimately allow Chuck Schumer to bully him one more time into marching along with the rest of the Democrat Senate fascists, because that is what Joe Manchin does.

Meanwhile, with Lisa Murkowski now coming around in the face of a primary threat from Sara Palin, only one Republican Senator, Susan Collins (of course), is even implying she might not support Barrett’s confirmation before Election Day. Mitt Romney may ultimately fink out and cast his wormy lot with the Democrats just as he did in their impeachment scam, but that won’t be enough.

Mitch McConnell has the votes to confirm Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court on Monday. That would be the logical thing to do in this case since the Court convenes for its 2020-21 session on the first Monday in October, just 8 days from now. The goal of the U.S. Senate should always be that it acts as expeditiously as possible to ensure the Court always has its full compliment of 9 justices.

But what about the vetting process? Good lord, Judge Barrett was confirmed to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals just three years ago, and was thoroughly vetted at that time. She even received the confirmation votes of 3 Democrats – along with every Senate Republican, including Collins and Murkowski (Romney was not in the Senate in 2017) – for that high profile appointment. There is literally no valid reason at all for the Judiciary Committee to go through that process all over again.

The Democrats desperately want these hearings for the sole reason that they would then be able to create the same sort of character assassination circus that they did with Brett Kavanaugh and, to a slightly lesser extent, Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s first two nominees. McConnell has exactly zero obligation or duty to provide the Democrats that platform.

Many Republicans argue that the creation of another confirmation hearing slander circus would be bad for the Democrats politically, and that’s probably true. But this is a woman’s life we are talking about here. Politics should not be the main consideration. Judge Barrett is a wife and mother of 7 children, children who should not be subjected to the kind of abuse and smearing the Democrats and their activists will throw at them and their mother in the lead-up to and conduct of such hearings.

Judge Barrett is an extremely well-qualified jurist who has led an exemplary American life. There are no valid arguments to make otherwise. She also has already very recently been vetted and confirmed to a seat on a U.S. Appellate Court by the U.S. Senate.

The Judiciary Committee hearing should be cancelled. Judge Barrett should be confirmed this week and seated on the Court when it convenes on the First Monday in October.

That is all.

McConnell Should Deny the Democrats Their Judiciary Committee Circus

There is a growing debate over whether or not Mitch McConnell should discard the committee process on President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee and simply take the vote to the floor of the Senate. Here’s why I support a middle ground position on that question.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no constitutional requirement for the Senate Judiciary Committee to hold hearings on any nominee by the President. This is true of all positions, whether they be political appointees to run the federal bureaucracy or judicial appointees at the district, appellate and Supreme Court levels.

Here is the text of the Constitution’s Appointments Clause in its entirety:

“… and [the President] shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.”

Not a word in there about committees or hearings. The role of the Senate is to provide its “advice and consent,” on nominations, nothing more. That advice and consent can take any form that has the approval of a majority of current senators.

The committee process is nothing more than a construct of Senate rules and tradition. Democrats made clear they don’t give a damn about those things when Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer led the effort to end the filibuster for judicial nominees, a senate rule and tradition that had stood for well over a century. Schumer and other Democrat senators have also made clear that they plan to end the filibuster entirely the next time they gain a majority in that chamber.

So, to hell with Senate rules and traditions.

The nation’s voters have chosen to give the GOP a clear Senate majority in each of the last three election cycles, expanding that majority in 2018 after the despicable display the Democrats put on in the Judiciary Committee hearings related to Brett Kavanaugh. The corrupt news media studiously ignores the fact that each and every Democrat senator who participated in the smearing of Kavanaugh during those 2018 hearings and was up for re-election in a close race that year was defeated. It was the clearest statement of disapproval the voters could send of Democrat tactics – which included the active subornation of perjury by Christine Blasey Ford and others – that held the nation hostage for a week during those hearings.

Indeed, the Democrat conduct in Supreme Court nomination hearings has become increasingly depraved and demented related to every GOP presidential appointment since 1987, when Joe Biden – then chairman of the Judiciary Committee – led the dishonest smearing of Reagan nominee Robert Bork. Emboldened by that success, Biden-led Democrats conducted their “high-tech lynching” of Clarence Thomas in 1991, again including the active subornation of perjury by Anita Hill. Things have only gone downhill from that low moment.

If he has the votes to confirm the Trump nominee, why should Mitch McConnell allow the Democrats to put the nation and the nominee through what would certainly become another Kavanaugh-like smearing conducted by the likes of Kamala Harris and Cory Booker and Dianne Feinstein?

Some will contend that the cancellation of hearings would lead the Democrats to declare the nominee to be “illegitimate.” Well, hell, they did that with Kavanaugh. Who can forget Nancy Pelosi and Jabba the Nadler promising to impeach Kavanaugh after they obtained their House majority in 2018? We should not forget that kind of thing so quickly and easily.

Besides, Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and Biden himself have already made it perfectly clear that they are going to smear the new Trump appointee as illegitimate regardless of the circumstances surrounding her confirmation. The tactic is going to be the tactic regardless of how the process is run.

With the announcements by Cory Gardner, Lamar Alexander and Rand Paul that they will support whatever confirmation process McConnell chooses to implement in the case of this nominee, it is now clear that the GOP has at least 50 votes to confirm the new justice before Election Day. Those votes, plus the tiebreaking vote by Vice President Mike Pence, are all McConnell needs to put this nominee on the Court.

So, why schedule committee hearings at all, given the short time frame and the pressing need to have a fully-constituted Supreme Court that could end up deciding the ultimate outcome of the presidential election?

Here’s why you schedule an initial hearing: To give the Democrats the chance to hoist themselves on their own petard. Democrats have all sorts of tools under Senate rules to try to delay the process. McConnell should work with Chairman Lindsey Graham to quickly schedule an initial hearing, and at the same time make it crystal clear that he will simply bring the nomination to the floor of the Senate if Democrats try to delay that process. Give them one chance to conduct themselves with the dignity that used to be expected from a U.S. senator, but give Graham the full authority to adjourn the process the moment the Democrats inevitably begin their effort to smear the nominee.

When that happens – and it would happen – McConnell should then immediately schedule a floor vote and deny the Democrats their circus.

Yes, the howls of outrage from the Democrats and their media toadies would be loud and fierce, but they are going to be loud and fierce regardless. This nomination and confirmation are an exercise in political power. For once, McConnell and his GOP caucus should exercise that power with no quarter given to their Democrat “friends.”

That is all.

Marco Rubio Flexes his DC Swamp Muscle

As if we needed another example of Senate Republican mendacity, we got one yesterday. – The Washington Examiner reported Monday that Marco Rubio, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI), is refusing to share information from the SSCI’s “Russia Collusion” investigation with his fellow committee chairmen.

Ron Johnson, Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, and Chuck Grassley, who will re-take the chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee in January from the worthless Lindsey Graham, had requested via a letter to Rubio and SSCI ranking Democrat Mark Warner that SSCI share some of its records with their committees in order to further their investigations into Spygate/Obamagate. Yesterday, Rubio and Warner rejected that request in a letter of their own.

From the Washington Examiner story:

The Republican and Democratic leaders on the Senate Intelligence Committee rejected a broad request from two Republican Senate leaders seeking access to the panel’s records to assist in their investigation into the Trump-Russia investigators.

Acting Chairman Marco Rubio of Florida and Vice Chairman Mark Warner of Virginia rejected a late August letter from Senate Homeland Security Chairman Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who said that they “respect the authority” of the Senate Intelligence Committee to protect its interests, adding that “ultimately, we have the right as United States Senators” to access the records.

“We note that your request of the Committee is made pursuant to Senate Rule 26, but fails to account for the unique authorities and obligations invested in this Committee through Senate Resolution 400 and respected over decades of Senate and Committee practice,” Rubio and Warner responded. “Accordingly, we must reject the absolutist interpretation of Rule 26 that you propose. If this Committee elects to share materials that it has collected and generated in the course of its investigation into Russia’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, it will do so pursuant to these long-standing Committee rules, and specifically, the joint agreement of the Chairman and the Vice Chairman.”

Rubio and Warner added: “Independent of whether that agreement is forthcoming, our position on this matter obviously does not preclude you from pursuing your own investigation, using your own authorities, as you see fit, within the confines of your committees’ jurisdictions.”

[End]

So, here we have the spectacle of one Senate committee refusing to share information with another Senate committee, and a Republican committee chairman allowing his authority to be subsumed by the ranking member of the minority party. Why doesn’t Mitch McConnell just formally name Warner the SSCI chairman since he is obviously functioning in that role?

To be clear, Senate Rule 26 requires committees to cross-share information with other committees when such requests are made, but Rubio is allowing Warner to claim that SSCI-adopted “rules” – specifically a deal made between Warner and insider-trading cheat/ex-SSCI Chairman Richard Burr – supersede a rule adopted by the full Senate.

What is really happening here is that the SSCI in general, and Warner/Burr/Rubio specifically were active participants in the Deep State coup d’etat effort led by the DOJ/FBI cabal from late 2016 through early 2019. These senators inevitably created a paper trail of their mendacity during that time frame, some of which would inevitably make its way into the documentation of their committee’s fake investigation. SSCI’s “investigation” was really nothing but an effort to provide cover for the Mueller Special Counsel criminal operation and the seditious actions of Rod Rosenstein and James Comey.

SSCI is an utterly corrupt operation whose real goal is to protect Senate interests in the graft factory that is the DC Swamp, and the profits it generates to Senators of both parties. Which is why its Republican and Democrat members were so carefully selected by Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer.

This refusal by Rubio and Warner to share key information with their colleagues is just a part of the protective role the SSCI plays for Senators of both parties.

It is the very definition of DC Swamp kabuki theater.

The Real Reason Why Pelosi Won’t Call the House Back Into Session

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

You understand why San Fran Nan won’t call the House back in session, right? It’s because she and Chuck Schumer are trying to shame Mitch McConnell into keeping the Senate shut down.

Why? Well, it’s obvious: They want to keep the Senate shut down in order to prevent the confirmation of President Trump’s judicial nominees and other key nominees like John Ratcliffe, who is up to become the Director of National Intelligence.

Luckily, McConnell is having none of it, and called the Senate back into session this week with his main goal to specifically get those nominees moving again. He understands that it is crucial for the nation to get back to some semblance of normalcy as soon as possible in order to avoid a massive economic depression, and that America won’t get back to some semblance of normalcy if its elected leaders are all holed up in their basements like Joe Biden and Chris Cuomo.

But Democrats are different – make no mistake about it. They don’t care about people dying or 30 million Americans having been put out of jobs; all they care about is politics. After all, the Wuhan Virus is killing mainly old people, and old people happen to be mostly Republican voters. Democrats like Pelosi and Schumer see this and their only thought is that man, this could really tilt a few congressional races in November if enough old people die in the right districts.

Those 30 million additional unemployed? To your typical Democrat politician, their only thought is that that is one huge target-rich environment of potential Democrat voters. If they can just keep enough of those 30 million on unemployment until November it could be an electoral gold mine.

Am I being overly cynical here, unfair to your Democrat “friends”? Not really. Take a look at this great graphic I found on Twitter the other day:

Image may contain: 7 people, possible text that says 'ABORTION THE DEMOCRATIC RESPONSE το EMERGENCY 1.) CLOSE CHURCHES AND GUN STORES 2.) KEEP MURDERING BABIES CLINICS. 3.) RELEASE FELONS. 4.) LOCK UP CITIZENS. 5.) SUBSIDIZE ILLEGAL ALIENS. 6.) BAN POTENTIALLY LIFE SAVING DRUGS. 7.) FUND THE KENNEDY CENTER. 8.) BUY PPE FROM CHINA. 9.) GIVE THEMSELVES A RAISE. 10.) BLOCK RELIEF FUNDS FOR SMALL BUSINESS. 11.) GO ON VACATION. 12.) INVESTIGATE TRUMP AGAIN. imgflip.co'

Now, the saddest part of this list is that each and every element of it is 100% true. Go ahead – try to convince me otherwise.

What’s more, the list is far from comprehensive. Here are some other items you could add to it:

13. Tried to give more money to Planned Parenthood.

14. Tried to insert language mandating “ballot harvesting”, i.e., voter fraud, into two stimulus bills.

15. Outlawed the use of motor boats to appease climate change alarmists.

16. Shut down beaches despite the knowledge that heat and sunlight kill the virus.

17. Shut down public parks and then went for walks in them.

18. Shut down “unnecessary” travel and then flew the governor of Illinois’ family to a posh resort in Florida.

19. Threatened to arrest people for “crimes” they have made up out of whole cloth.

The list could go on and on: The point is that, while President Trump and his task force have been working 100 hours a week for the last 3 months trying to save lives and deal with this pandemic, the Democrats have been working 100 hours a week doing little but trying to find ways to take political advantage of this tragic situation and extend it out for as long as possible. This is who they are; it is what they do.

We’ve noted this many times, but it deserves noting again: They are only able function in this despicable mode because of the fact that they literally own the nation’s news media. It’s why Pelosi had zero concerns about needlessly delaying two different stimulus bills while millions suffered: Because there was no political price to be paid for doing so.

Hell, people who get all their news from CNN, MSNBC, ABC and CBS didn’t even know she was doing it. With no one in the media working to hold them accountable, Democrat politicians no longer have a social filter. What’s more, they know their core voters have been so brainwashed by these corrupt media outlets that there is nothing they can do, no act so repugnant, to make them vote for anyone else.

You don’t have to believe me – just take a look at this tweet from Harvey Weinstein’s attack dog Democrat lawyer Lisa Bloom:

This is Democrat core voters in a nutshell: They know Biden abused, harassed and raped Tara Reade, but they don’t care. If Biden’s the nominee, they’re voting for him anyway. Because Trump. And maybe science or something.

This is who they are; it is what they do. To them, everything in life is a political calculation. Once you accept that about your Democrat “friends,” everything they say and do makes perfect sense.

That is all.

Sen. Tom Cotton Details Democrat Depravity Since the Corrupt Media Won’t Do It

The Evening Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

You seriously could never make this stuff up. – In a series of Tweets this afternoon, GOP Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas listed the absurd list of Democrat demands that are holding up the crucial stimulus bill. Below is the text of those Tweets:

Families and businesses need help now to survive the China virus pandemic. But @SpeakerPelosi walked away from negotiations to write her own bill, full of absurd provisions completely unrelated to the crisis at hand. Here’s what Speaker Pelosi is demanding while Americans suffer:

1. Corporate pay statistics by race and race statistics for all corporate boards at companies receiving assistance

2. Bailing out all current debt of postal service

3. Required early voting

4. Required same day voter registration

5. 10k bailout for student loans

6. For companies accepting assistance, 1/3 of board members must be chosen by workers

7. Provisions on official time for union collective bargaining

8. Full offset of airline emissions by 2025

9. Greenhouse gas statistics for individual flights

10. Retirement plans for community newspaper employees

11. $15 minimum wage at companies receiving assistance

12. Permanent paid leave at companies receiving assistance

The Democrats see an opportunity in this crisis. Not to help the American people, but to hold an emergency relief bill hostage until they get their radical wish list. How long will Arkansans and Americans across the country have to wait?

[End]

How long, indeed?

Naturally, no one in the corrupt news media is accurately reporting the Democrats’ despicable laundry list of political demands. Thus, cowardly Republicans will almost certainly capitulate to some or all of them.

This is the DC Swamp at work.

Just thought you’d like to know.

The Coronavirus Press Conference Gives Us The Trump We Need To See More Of

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

If you missed President Trump’s press conference on the Coronavirus yesterday evening, you should take time to watch it. – The full stream of it can be found at this link: Full Trump Presser.

This was President Donald Trump at his best: Fully in command of the room and the facts, speaking in measured tones, obviously in charge of the situation. Other than some formal international ceremonies, it was with out doubt the most “presidential” event of his entire time in office.

He took every question from the enemies of the people assembled in the White House briefing room and provided measured and reasonable answers, even to those that were unreasonable or even idiotic, as several were. I mean, after all, he did call on April Ryan and that circus clown who writes for Playboy.

Even the jabs he took at Nancy Pelosi were measured in tone: He didn’t call her “Crazy Nancy” or question her sobriety – even though either or both would have been perfectly valid. Instead, he called her “incompetent,” which she clearly is, and truthfully stated that the depraved Speaker is working to politicize the Coronavirus situation.

The same was true of his reference to Chuck Schumer, who has behaved in an even more depraved fashion than Pelosi: The President engaged in no name-calling, no references to “Crying Chuck” or anything similar; just a truthful statement of regret about the Minority Leader’s efforts to endanger the American public for purely partisan reasons.

It was a brilliant press conference, one that had me wishing he would do more of these and fewer of the noisy press availabilities next to the whining rotors as he’s about to board Marine One. I fully get why he likes that model: It denies the preening peacocks in the corrupt press corps their cherished TV face time. In those events, the camera is always on Trump, never on the nitwits screaming their moronic questions.

The President is of course right to treat the media with scorn – it is what they have all richly earned in their demented behavior towards him and his administration. He was absolutely right to end the daily press briefings, given the abusive behavior by the reporters towards his own staff. He

Mr. Trump was also right to take the responsibility of dealing with the media on his own shoulders: This administration revolves around him and his thought processes, and he obviously wasn’t always able to communicate those thoughts to those speaking on his behalf. So he cut out the middle-man, and now typically does more than one press availability each day.

But part of the problem with those loud events next to Marine One is that the President always finds himself shouting. This creates a problem where tone is concerned. As he left the briefing yesterday, one reporter shouted that he should do more events in the briefing room. That caught the President’s attention, and he promised that he would do so.

That would probably be a good idea, because the President is powerful in that setting. Don’t abandon the helicopter setting altogether, but provide more of a mix of venues.

In this re-election season, it might be wise for the President and his team to give a nod to one of the main reasons why he has lost so many suburban housewives: It’s mainly due to his behavior and his tone, not necessarily his substance. Young mothers and grandmothers don’t want young children to be exposed to a President who always seems to be shouting, whether at the press corps at a loud and windy event, or in his postings on Twitter, where he also often seems to be figuratively shouting.

Those who contend that Trump should stop tweeting entirely miss the entire point here: It’s not the fact that he uses social media, but the manner in which he uses it that turns off many people who might otherwise be supporters. A significant percentage of these suburban women who have been trending Democrat over the past four years actually agree with most of the Trump agenda, but can’t stand the manner in which he communicates it much of the time. Appealing to this constituency and gaining more of their votes this year could well determine which party controls the House of Representatives after this year.

Communication matters. No one understands this better than Donald Trump.

The President has to stay active on Twitter because it provides him his only platform on which to communicate to the public without interference from the enemies of the people. Most of these women no doubt recognize that reality, and also most likely wouldn’t deny him the right to respond in-kind to the abusive behavior towards him by depraved Democrats like Pelosi, Schumer and Schiff.

Where he turns so many people off is when he resorts to seemingly gratuitous name-calling, and when he goes after ordinary people, as he did recently with the jury foreman in the Roger Stone trial. Yes, that woman most definitely lied on her jury questionnaire, and Stone should receive a new trial with a new judge as a result. But Roger Stone has smart lawyers working for him and doesn’t need the President attacking both the jury foreman and the judge in order to make his case. It’s just a needless fight that Mr. Trump would have been better off not picking.

Bottom line, if the public saw the President Trump we witnessed in that Coronavirus briefing yesterday evening every day between now and November 3, he would win in an epic landslide for the ages. After the last three years of constant controversy and upheaval, the public is craving a return to some level of normalcy.

Knowing that Bernie Sanders won’t and can’t give them that, and that the Democrats and their corrupt media toadies will do everything in their power to keep the chaos coming, it would probably be wise for the President himself to give it to them in spades.

That is all.

Rubio Tweets Reveal a Distressing Level of GOP Naivete’

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

A thread on Twitter by Florida GOP Senator Marco Rubio is revealing on many levels for all of us impeachment watchers. It reveals a fairly conservative Senator who is aware of much that has been going on around him, but unaware of so much more.

The thread reveals an awareness of the deceitful nature of his Democrat opponents, but a lack of awareness of exactly how deceitful they truly are. It reveals a generally well-meaning guy who will do the right thing on this impeachment scam in the end, but who has been making his decisions based on woefully incomplete information.

In the end, Rubio’s thread provides us strong insight about the information level and thought processes by most of the Senate Republican caucus members, and why they so naively and dangerously agreed to allow the mendacious Democrats to extend the national pain of this trial all the way through next Wednesday when they could have forced a just end to it last night or today.

Below follows the text of each of Rubio’s tweets, along with my analysis of them. Watch and learn how your Republican senators are by and large trying to make the right decisions in this trial, albeit based on woefully incomplete information about the true nature of the enemy. This is all important to know, because the fact that most GOP members of congress remain so naive about the Democrats’ real nature means President Trump remains vulnerable to future Democrat scams that will inevitably arise.

Rubio Tweet #1:

Final arguments 11am Monday. Final vote Wednesday at 4pm. Last March Rep. Schiff said there was “little to be gained by putting the country through” the “wrenching experience” of a partisan impeachment. But then they decided to do it anyway.

Sen. Rubio’s statement here reveals his naive thinking about Schiff. It indicates Rubio actually believes Schiff was sincere when he made the statement Rubio quotes. It indicates that Rubio, despite having been inside the DC Swamp for all these years, still doesn’t understand that leaders in the Democrat Party never utter a sincere statement in public – all they do is parrot poll-tested talking points written for them by staff and lawyers. Honestly, how can any Republican think Adam Schiff, of all people, says anything that is actually true? It’s maddening.

Rubio Tweet #2:

The House admitted they didn’t try to enforce testimony of witnesses in court because it would tie them up in litigation for a year. But then spent weeks demanding the Senate do it now. We were never going to play this stupid game with them.

Here Sen. Rubio reveals that he has no understanding about the Democrats’ strategy in this entire play, as dictated to them by the Lawfare lawyers Nancy Pelosi spent millions of dollars on during 2019, and will spend millions more on during 2020. The Democrats’ entire strategy hinged on their belief that they could pressure four RINO senators to join them in issuing legitimate subpoenas for witnesses.

To review, the House Democrats intentionally rigged the House process to proceed without a formal impeachment vote that would have given their own subpoenas the force of law. Because they refused to hold such a formal vote, they knew their own subpoenas were nothing more than form letters requesting witness appearances.

They took this route for two reasons: 1) to deny the Republicans and President Trump any of the process rights that a legitimate impeachment action would have afforded them; and 2) to speed the process along in their zeal to get the House process finished before Christmas.

In this Tweet, Sen. Rubio reveals his lack of understanding about any of these obvious, transparent machinations by the House Dems.

Rubio Tweet #3

The same people to say “how dare Trump disagree with our intelligence professionals” are also the ones doubting the “intelligence professionals” on Soleimani planning an imminent attack.

Well, yeah, the Democrats are raging hypocrites. At least the Senate Republicans understand that much. Cool.

Rubio Tweet #4

The poll tested “stealing the election” line was also a joke. Was Trump trying to tamper with voting equipment or something? I wanted to laugh every time they said it but I think laughing was against the Senate impeachment rules

This is actually pretty funny and spot on. Plus, it shows the proper level of cynicism that every GOP Senator should have held towards Schiff, Nadler and the other House Manager circus clowns.

Rubio Tweet #5

most obnoxious argument was the “I have secret information that’s damning, but I can’t divulge it” Total crap. We have access to the same information & you don’t have squat. If you did it would be leaked. Just like the mole at NSC illegally leaking portions of Bolton’s book.

This is another good tweet, one that shows Sen. Rubio, and presumably most other Republicans, weren’t buying most of the smelly Schiff the Democrats were shoveling. It also demonstrates Rubio’s clear understanding of the mole issue that lingers inside the NSC. Very encouraging.

Rubio Tweet #6

Bottom line is despite not initially wanting to do it they were bullied into impeachment by radical far left voices they are afraid of. Then they fell in love with the case & the cameras & the adoration of the media & forgot the damage impeachment inflicts on the country.

But here, Rubio falls completely apart. Pelosi/Schiff/Nadler were not “bullied into impeachment” by anyone. They did a fine job of lying about that part of it throughout most of September, but that was all rank, smelly horse manure, shoveled purely for public consumption.

This impeachment scam was a part of the master plan the House Democrat leadership developed in concert with their Lawfare lawyers and members of the corrupt news media immediately following the 2018 election, in which they secured their illegitimate House majority. This is obvious to anyone who has really been paying attention for the last 14 months.

It was all so transparent, in fact, that Mollie Hemingway, editor at The Federalist, actually filed a report on it all within a couple of weeks after that 2018 election. Hemingway had actually overheard Nadler loudly talking about it all when the two happened to be on the same Amtrak rail car traveling from Washington to New York City.

That was in November, 2018. How can Sen. Rubio still be blissfully unaware of all of that today, all these months later?

It is this lingering naivete among Senate Republicans about the true nature of their Democrat opponents that led the “moderates” in the GOP caucus to force this five-day delay in the conclusion of the Senate trial. These people really do still think that Chuck Schumer is someone who can be trusted to deal with them in good faith.

Thus, here we are.

That is all.
