The Media and Pollsters Don’t ‘Get’ Trump Voters, and Don’t Care To

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

But Ellison’s a Democrat, so… – A bunch of c-list celebrities produced a video in support of Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christina Ford.  Funny, they did not produce any similar video saying we should all just believe the accuser of DNC Vice Chairman Keith Ellison, Karen Monahan, who actually has 911 calls, photos and other actual evidence to back her story of heinous violence and sexual assault.

Funny how that works.

Ms. Ford deserves a chance to be heard.  She’s been heard all week, in fact, and her chance to be heard under oath is Monday.  She does not deserve to be believed out of hand and neither does anyone else.  These celebrities deserve nothing but our contempt and scorn.

hmmmm…what to do about all this sex abuse by our clergy?  Hey, I have an idea!  Let’s meet with Bono! – So, Pope Francis, under fire for his failure to do much of anything about the latest rise in rampant sexual abuse among the pedophile-ridden clergy of the Catholic Church, met with Bono in a transparent effort to get a famous third party speaking on his behalf.

The reliable leftist rock star came away from the meeting and did his job just right, telling the media that the Pope was just all “aghast” about the apparent news to him that there’s “trouble, big trouble right here in River City!”  No doubt Pope Francis was also “shocked, shocked to discover gambling” going on at Rick’s Cabaret as well.

“You can see the pain in his face,” Bono said, “and I felt he was sincere.”  Naturally, Bono also said, he met with the Pope to discuss  “the wild beast that is capitalism” and sustainable development, two subjects that the Pope obviously considers to be far more critical than stopping his priests from preying on young boys.  No doubt it was a delightful Marxist discussion.

(My apologies to all my Catholic friends, but this story was just too much to take.)

From our “Hey, that’s what the Campaign Update said on Monday” files… – Derek Hunter, writing at Townhall.com, has a really good piece out titled “It’s Time for Republicans to Grow a Pair.”  Why yes, yes it is.

This happened to me in 2017, guys. – The Denver Post tells us this morning that more than half of all the calls we get on our cell phones will be junk marketing calls by some point in 2019.  Way ahead of you here, folks.

Yes.  That’s why he got elected, doofus. – California Governor Jerry Brown complained on Wednesday that President Donald Trump is “sabotaging the world order in many respects.”  “Yes, so what’s the problem?” asks literally everyone who voted for Mr. Trump in 2016.

Brown went on to telegraph his approval of an assassination of the President of the United States, saying “something’s got to happen to this guy, because if we don’t get rid of him, he’s going to undermine America and even the world.”  But this has become just par for the course among Democrat politicians in this age of Maxine Waters being the ugly face of their Party.

But back to the whole “world order” sabotaging thing, because this is important.  In making that statement, Gov. Brown serves as a metaphor for his entire party and for the fake news media.  It clearly demonstrates that he still, almost 2 full years after Election Day 2016, has not the slightest clue who the Trump voters are or why they voted for him in such huge numbers.  He still does not get the fact that Donald Trump became President precisely because he promised to “sabotage the world order.”

It was that “world order” that Trump voters were in fact rebelling against.  The “world order” that had given us a full decade of economic stagnation.  The “world order” that had given us horrible trade deals that shipped our plants and blue collar jobs overseas.  The “world order” that had resulted in the U.S. military intervening in no fewer than 7 different civil wars across the Middle East and Africa.  The “world order” that had given us a gigantic flood of refugees that are in the process of destroying the native cultures of an array of European nations and threaten to do the same to the United States.

This lack of understanding is far from limited to Jerry Brown and his fellow clueless Democrat politicians.  It is also the case throughout our fake news media and their polling organizations.  The stark reality is that none of these people have a clue who the core Trump voters are, and they don’t really care to know.  Far easier to just label them all as hicks, rednecks and racists than to make any effort to understand who they really are.

For the fake news media, the result of this lack of understanding has been an ever-increasing flood of news-faking as their frustration with all of the President’s myriad policy successes causes them to literally lose their minds.  These people cannot deal with reality, don’t care to even know what reality is, so they go about inventing an alternate, fantasy-world reality on a daily basis.

For the polling companies, it means that, with few exceptions, they are going to get yet another election woefully wrong and be embarrassed as an industry on Election Day 2018.  They simply do not understand that “Trump voters” and “self-identified Republicans” are not remotely a unified class, and they make no effort to understand that reality.  Most of them continue to believe that stratifying their samples between Rs and Ds using some turnout model based on the 2012 election is somehow valid, and it isn’t, because “Trump voters” in fact cut across those labels.

Because of this reality, you end up with results like the one we saw in Texas SD 19 on Tuesday, with Republican Pete Flores coming up with a “shocking” win over veteran Democrat pol Pet Gallego in a heavily-Democrat district.  That district has a heavy contingent of self-identifying “Democrats” who also happen to be blue-collar workers and “Trump voters.”  The same is also true of many of the congressional districts that the pollsters are currently calling “tossups” for the November elections.

My bet is that if these pollsters had bothered to really try to understand who “Trump voters” really are and make some real effort to properly factor them into their polling samples, their polls would not be showing many of these “tossup” districts to be tossups at all.  The same is true for senate and governors’ races around the country.

Simply put: If a polling organization doesn’t understand who the voters actually are, how can they possibly produce accurate polls of them?  The answer is, they can’t.

Just another day in the polls are worthless America.

That is all.

[Addendum:  I received this fantastic reply from a reader and wanted to share it here:

This is more of a case where they perceive some imaginary nation existing in some urban sphere, and a lot of these journalists have never met regular working-class Americans.

I am often reminded of the 1960s and 1970s where CBS had Charles Kuralt on the road and talking to regular Americans. You could go and have him discuss the average guy on the street, the average shrimp fisherman, the average barber from Peoria, or the average brick-layer. He could describe them in detail….know their politics, and lead you to the vast landscape. CBS doesn’t have anyone like that today….nor does CNN, or MSNBC. They all huddle in some studio and only talk to like-minded people. Same issue with college professors and most politicians who live permanently in DC.

End.]

The Democrat/Media’s ‘Blue Wave’ Crashes on the Shoals of Texas Reality

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

But…but…but…BLUE WAVE!!!!…or…or something… – Just as Beto Mania and We’re Turnin’ Texas Purple Fever began to really kick into high gear, that inconvenient thing called “harsh reality” jumped up and slapped Democrats and their fake news media press agents in their collective ugly face in Texas on Tuesday.

The first event early in the day came in the form of a new poll from Quinnipiac, showing Governor Greg Abbott holding a 19-point lead over his poor, un-funded, out-of-her-depth Democrat opponent, Lupe Valdez, and coming up with a 9-point lead for Ted Cruz over Irish Bob O’Rourke, who likes to call himself “Beto” in order to try to attract Hispanic voters.  While this poll is probably no more useful than any of those that came before, it did at least survey “likely” Texas voters, and provides one data point indicating the race is moving into a more normal paradigm as Election Day approaches and Cruz. after basically ceding the playing field to his opponent during the first 9 months of the year, actually begins to campaign in earnest.

For those of you still thinking “But Beto’s soooooo cute!  Beto cusses a lot so Millenials will rush to the polls to vote for him!  Beto’s just like a Kennedy!  Beto can stillllllll wiiiiiinnnnnnnn!!!!”, think about this:  While some polls taken in this race this year have indicated that it might be close, not a single one of them has resulted in a lead for Irish Bob.  Not one.  Even an August poll that absurdly used a sample containing an even percentage of Republican and Democrat voters showed Cruz with a narrow lead.

If this race were really all that close – like the Senate races in Missouri or Florida, for example – you would have polls alternately showing Cruz and Irish Bob with leads.  That hasn’t happened because this race really isn’t close.  It’s a 10-12 point election in favor of Ted Cruz – always has been, and will be in the end.

The second event that threw Texas Democrats into fits of despair was the runoff election in Texas Senate District 19, in which long-time Democrat state legislator Pete Gallego squared off against Republican Pete Flores in the race to replace former Democrat Sen. Carlos Uresti, who was sentenced to prison in a fraud case earlier in the year.  Given that the race was in a heavily-Democrat district, a district that The Pantsuit Princess won by 12 points in 2016, and featured a seasoned veteran as the Democrat candidate, Texas Democrats assumed they’d be able to hold the seat.

Uh, no.  The voters in District 19 decided they’d had enough Democrat representation for awhile, and Flores walked off with a surprisingly easy 6-point victory.  For Texans, it is important to note that the pickup of this seat most likely means that the GOP will control a true super-majority in the Texas state senate when the legislature convenes in January for the first time in, well, forever.  Texas isn’t turning “purple” in 2018 – it’s most likely going to end up turning even more “red.”

God Bless Texas.

The Kavanaugh accuser is clearly lying, and it shows. – How do we now know for certain sure that Christina Ford is lying about her accusations against Brett Kavanaugh?  Let us count the ways:

  • She’s now refusing to show up on Monday to tell her tale of a 36-year-ago sexual assault that really wasn’t a sexual assault at all to the Senate Judiciary Committee;
  • She’s absurdly demanding the FBI conduct an investigation into a 36-year-ago event for which, even if it is a thing, the statute of limitations ran out at least 29 years ago, and for which literally the only “evidence” is her claim.  Any FBI agent can perform all the “investigation” necessary by simply reading the Washington Post;
  • She makes this ludicrous demand safe in the knowledge that a) the FBI doesn’t have jurisdiction in the case in any event, and b) the FBI has already announced it won’t be investigating anything because, hey, IT DOESN’T HAVE JURISDICTION IN THIS CASE;
  • Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the despicable, corrupt creep who initially served as Ford’s sponsor in this transparent attempt to delay or derail the nomination, started crawfishing late yesterday, telling reporters that she “can’t be sure everything is true.  I just don’t know.”  This is creepy politician-speak for “She’s lying; I know she’s lying, so I’m going to start slowly backing away from her and pretending I really had nothing to do with any of this in order to cover my own butt.”

Naturally, Ford’s lawyer rolled out the obligatory “she’s been getting death threats” claim as her client’s story was falling apart yesterday in a desperate effort to curry favor with the news media and the public.  This is something like Page 72, paragraph 3 of the Democrat/fake news media Saul Alinsky Memorial Playbook, and was so predictable you just have to look on in wonder at the fact that some people are still stupid enough to buy it.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell finally started to grow some huevos late in the day as their indignation at this spectacle grew, with both men holding firm to next Monday as Ford’s one and only shot at coming forward to make her transparently false claims under oath and possible penalty of perjury.  But it’s a long way until Monday, and the Democrats and fake news media will continue to pound for further delay day after day until then.  We’ll just have to wait and see if these gents can hold firm in the face of all of that, and there is literally no reason at all to believe they will, based on past performance and the fact that they continue to take their communications advice from the very same firms that advise all these creepy, corrupt Democrats.

What will most likely happen will be for Ms. Ford to go onto several of the Sunday morning talk shows – avoiding Fox News Sunday like the plague, of course – where she can be sure she will only be asked easy, softball questions by reliable Democrat toadies like George Stephanopoulos, Chuck Todd and Jake Tapper.  Most importantly, she won’t have to answer questions under oath or thus face potential perjury charges. ABC, CNN and NBC will no doubt the thrilled to serve as her vehicles in this endeavor because, hey, this is what they do for leftwing activists like Ms. Ford.

The most intelligent course for McConnell and Grassley will be to just realize nothing they do will appease the fake news media, which will pummel them regardless.  So they might as well just hold firm to Monday’s date, give Ford until noon Friday to accept the offer, and cancel the hearing if she refuses to accept.  That’s a more than fair process, and will pretty clearly demonstrate to any fair-minded individual that Ford should be disregarded if she isn’t willing to participate in it.

After that, hold the damn vote and get the man confirmed.  Stop letting the senate minority and our fake national news media hold this country hostage.

That is all.

If You Get Your News From Twitter, Tuesday was, like, Totally Awesome

The Evening Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Some Twitter highlights from today:

Wait, you mean, like, newspapers that print inflammatory, blatantly false op/eds defaming the President of the United States without identifying the writer? Hey, I know one…

So, what do you do if you’re one of the fake news media outlets that has been promoting the notion that Irish Beto O’Rourke is going to beat Ted Cruz in the Texas Senate race, and you see a new Quinnipiac poll that has Cruz expanding his lead in the race to 9 points?  If you’re the newsfakers at @The Hill, you hilariously bury the lead as far and deeply as you can possibly bury it:

…and if that doesn’t get you far enough into fakery, you issue another tweet with another hilariously-biased headline that names the Democrat, but identifies the Republican with the four-letter last name only as “Texas GOP senator…”.  Holy cow, that is some serious #fakenews right there.

Meanwhile, Stephen Miller lightens the mood with a hilarious offering of his own, lampooning the shameful efforts by Democrats to falsely portray the FBI’s jurisdiction in the Kavanaugh matter…

Houston radio talk show host nails Democrats and their voting habits here:

Meanwhile, back in #fakenews world, NBC refuses to be outdone by The Hill or anyone else.  Note the use of the term “blindsided”.  Yes, because President Trump has only been transparently previewing his declassification action for about four months now:

Watching this guy change positions is like watching a child with a damn yo-yo. Blast Jeff Flake all you want, but at least he is consistently venal and cowardly.

Back in #fakenews world, MSNBC’s Kyle Griffin delivers a real “scoop” – that shameful valor thief Richard Blumenthal opposes the Kavanaugh nomination.  You’re a real scoop-meister, there, Kyle.

And finally, from our Good God Who Cares department, the Daily Caller delivers this little gem:

*sigh*

Just another day in getting the news as only Twitter can deliver it America.

That is all.
