The Corrupt National News Media: A ‘Collection of Liars’ Who Endanger the American Republic

I’m old enough to remember a time when, if a U.S. president had brokered multiple historic peace agreements in the Middle East and one between Kosovo and Serbia, it would have been headline news for a week. There was a time when the president who accomplished this would have been able to hold a press conference with the White House press corps and have semi-curious reporters actually ask questions about those deals. Those things would have happened even in a Republican administration, and that time was not so long ago.

But those times are gone, and will never return without fundamental change in the media establishment itself, and the manner in which our society holds media operations accountable for the serial mendacity we see committed each and every day by cable news outlets, major newspapers and fake news-oriented magazines like The Atlantic. The simple fact of the matter is that the current status quo in the U.S. news media is not only not consistent with the maintenance of a free and open society, it is actively and openly hostile to it.

Up until a few years ago, observers could be relatively sanguine about the state of the news media. The American press has always been biased. Indeed, throughout most of our country’s existence, newspapers and magazines – effectively the only means of obtaining news until the 1920s – had no issue with being openly-affiliated with and supportive of specific political parties. So, the fact that media outlets were biased was simply the maintenance of 200+ years of status quo.

Indeed, it was only during the post-World War II era, with the advent of television news operations and the growing prominence of radio, that national media outlets even bothered to put up a pretense of somehow being unbiased. Even that thin veil of pretense was mainly driven by the evolving federal “fairness doctrine” that was implemented by the Federal Communications Commission in 1949. That doctrine required TV and radio broadcasters to provide balanced coverage of elections and political issues. For many years, beginning with the Radio Act of 1927, the federal government also enforced “equal time” rules that required broadcasters to provide equal time to opposing views whenever they presented editorial content. All of that was eliminated in the 1980s to accommodate the growing development of 24-hour cable news operations, led by CNN.

For many years – this is really true, all you young people out there – CNN actually advertised itself as being “fair and balanced.” Also true is the fact that MSNBC assumed the same posture for the first decade of its existence before becoming aggressively and intentionally leftist as it transformed itself into a megaphone for Barack Obama’s 2009 presidential campaign. Fox News also claimed to be fair and balanced at its incarnation in the mid-1990s, but now only the increasingly CNN-ish Bret Baier continues to make that claim as he signs off from his nightly “Fox Report.”

Even during the days of the “fairness doctrine” and equal time laws, the major media outlets were liberally-biased. Let’s face it: This is always going to be the case, given the leftwards-tilt of most college professors, especially those who teach journalism.

But there is a crucial, qualitative difference between being biased and just being outright liars. Walter Cronkite was biased, but he wasn’t generally an outright liar. The same was true of TV news figures like David Brinkley, Roger Mudd, and even into the pre-George W. Bush years of Tom Brokaw and Peter Jennings. The shift from being figures who just put their own slants on otherwise factually-accurate news reports to being outright liars began in earnest following 9/11, led of course by Dan Rather and his use of transparently faked military documents in an effort to smear Bush while he was running for re-election. Things have only gone downhill from there.

Today, America is right back where it was during the advent of “yellow journalism” that came about in the early days of the 20th century. We’re back to having media outlets who openly pledge their allegiance to political parties or figures. If you can find a truly “fair and balanced” news operation at the national level today you will have discovered the media version of the ancient Incan and Mayan “cities of gold.” Legend has it that some such operations may exist out there, but people die before actually discovering them.

Attorney General William Barr called it out correctly on Friday when, in unusually blunt remarks, he referred to the mainstream press corps as “a collection of liars.”

From a report at NewsMax:

In an interview with Townhall, Barr’s no-holds-barred tirade zeroed in on coverage of months of racial justice demonstrations, some of which he said turned violent because of “street fighting radicals.”

“They’re basically a collection of liars. Most of the mainstream media,” he told Townhall. “They’re a collection of liars and they know exactly what they’re doing. A perfect example of that were the riots.”

He added, “Right on the street it was clear as day what was going on, anyone observing it, reporters observing it, it could not have escaped their attention that this was orchestrated violence by a hardened group of street fighting radicals.

“And they kept on excluding from their coverage all the video of this and reporting otherwise and they were doing that for partisan reasons, and they were lying to the American people. It wasn’t until they were caught red-handed after essentially weeks of this lie that they even started feeling less timid.”

According to Barr, “the national mainstream media has dropped any pretense of professional objectivity and are political actors, highly partisan who try to shape what they’re reporting to achieve a political purpose and support a political narrative that has nothing to do with the truth.”

“They’re very mendacious about it,” he continued. “It’s very destructive to our republic; it’s very destructive to the Democratic system to have that, especially being so monolithic. It’s contributing to a lot of the intensity and partisanship.”

[End]

What the AG said is absolutely correct: Our mainstream media is indeed just a collection of professional liars, operatives in propaganda operations modeled after those of Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. As Barr points out, this model is “very destructive to our republic,” specifically because it promotes a level of abject ignorance among the vast majority of the population, which in turn leads directly to the scenes of violence and destruction and death we see taking place on the streets of Democrat-controlled cities every day.

If you read the history of the rise of Hitler and his Nazi hordes, you will see that America today is roughly where Germany stood in 1938. This summer’s riots, staged and funded by operatives of the Democrat Party, were basically our version of Kristallnacht, which took place in November of that year. As most Americans are today, the Nazi-controlled news media ensured that the public was kept safely ignorant and misinformed about the true nature of the death and destruction that happened on that fateful night.

There was no public outrage, no public backlash against the Nazi hordes for all of that, because the corrupt news media ensured the vast majority of the population knew nothing about it, and those who did know about it put the blame on the innocent victims.

That is the role the U.S. news media performs for the Democrat Party in America today, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It is one thing for the Attorney General to call that out and speak the truth about the real state of our corrupt national media, but it is no more than a good start. If our society cannot devise some means of holding these depraved, anti-American media operations and their operatives accountable for their serial mendacity, then our Republic is well and truly doomed, and it could all happen far faster than we can even imagine.

That is all.

Saturday News Roundup: Gavin Newsom’s 3rd World California; TDS Reaches New Depths

The Green New Deal, illustrated:

Image may contain: text

The problem in California right now, the reason the state is suffering from rolling blackouts impacting millions, is because California Democrats have over the last quarter century intentionally prevented utility companies from building enough of those “backup power stations” you see in the second panel. So, when you have record high temperatures in parts of the state and massive wildfires (mainly caused by other Democrat policies that prevent proper forest management) in other parts of the state, you end up with residents of the state with the world’s 10th-largest economy living in what is effectively a third world country.

This is the single best photo I’ve seen that illustrates the current state California under Gavin Newsom:

Image

It’s perfect. Everything about it.

UPDATE: Just came across this video clip on Twitter. It is also pitch-perfect:

A new low for Trump Derangement Syndrome. – The nation’s Democrat/Media/liberal/socialist/communist community reacted to President Trump’s second Nobel Peace Prize nomination in a week on Friday with predictable irrational outrage. Here is an American president, achieving what his predecessors have tried for decades to accomplish. If Barack Obama or Bill Clinton had been able to do exactly what Trump has done in the Middle East and in the Serbia/Kosovo situation, they’d have been erecting statues in his honor.

But, in the current TDS madness that infests the American Left, anything Trump does must – MUST – be bad. There is no alternative. If Trump found a cure for cancer, it would be bad, and Anderson Cooper would hold a townhall on CNN with half a dozen Democrats talking about how great having cancer is for our society.

You know that’s true. Indeed, Kamala Harris is so anxious to appeal to the TDS crowd – and probably afflicted with it herself – that she came out last week in opposition to a vaccine for COVID-19, if it’s produced during the Trump Administration. She really did that, regardless of how she is attempting to walk it all back now.

This is how crazy and frankly stupid and anti-American the American Left truly is. Nowhere is this TDS madness more clearly illustrated than a piece published yesterday by The Atlantic, which is fresh off of pushing the “Trump hates the military” hoax. Yesterday, The Atlantic published a piece written by some clown named Graeme Wood who hysterically suggests that, because Trump has been nominated for two well-deserved Nobel Peace Prizes, the Nobel Peace Prize should be eliminated.

No, really, he did. I swear I do not make this stuff up. Really, who could?

Here’s an excerpt from Wood’s hysterical screed:

Trolls are a Scandinavian invention, straight from the frigid sagas of Norse mythology, but Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a Norwegian parliamentarian, swears that he is not one. Observers of his antics this week could be forgiven for thinking otherwise. On Wednesday, he announced that he had nominated Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. “Can you name a person who has done more for peace than President Trump?” Tybring-Gjedde asked me, insisting that the question was a serious one. Kayleigh McEnany, the White House press secretary, agreed. ”This is a hard-earned and well-deserved honor for the president,” she said. Tybring-Gjedde defended his nomination on Fox News remotely, and to me in person at a café in Oslo. “Do we give the prize to Greta Thunberg, for screaming about the environment?” he asked. “The agreement he made between Israel and the United Arab Emirates could mean peace between Israel and the Arab world. That is like the [Berlin] Wall falling down.” Today the White House reportedly will announce that Bahrain, another Gulf monarchy, will recognize Israel.

If Trump wins the prize, it will be the fourth Nobel awarded for peace between Israel and its neighbors. (The announcement will come on October 9.) That will make Arab-Israeli peace mediators more successful at charming the Nobel Committee than the International Committee of the Red Cross, which has won three times in the prize’s 120-year history, but still less successful than my favorite, which is no one at all. The committee has declined to award a peace prize 19 times, most recently in 1972. (The next year, in a decision so trollish it might have come out of the Prose Edda, they awarded the prize to Henry Kissinger.) Giving the peace prize to no one at all is a tradition the Nobel Committee should revive, perhaps on a permanent basis. The record of achievement of the peace laureates is so spotty, and the rationales for their awards so eclectic, that the committee should take a long break to consider whether peace is a category coherent enough to be worth recognizing. Peace had its chance, and blew it. The Trump nomination—one of hundreds, including this second from a Swede—helps show why.

[End]

So, basically, we see that Wood is not just a TDS-mad Trump hater, he’s also an anti-Semite who wants Isreal to be destroyed. Thus, he’s a great candidate to eventually be put on the Editorial Board for the New York Times or in a high position within the Democrat National Committee.

You really could not ever make these people up if they did not already sadly exist.

Meanwhile, in Portland, Oregon… – The 100 days of fun in Riot City, USA were cancelled on Friday:

But hey, there was still fun to be found in the nation’s capital! After Chuck Schumer and his fellow despicable Senate Democrats killed the follow-up stimulus legislation this week, there was only one thing for the communist rioters who call themselves Black Lives Matter to do, wasn’t there?

That’s right: They showed up to protest the death of this bill, which EVERY REPUBLICAN IN THE SENATE SUPPORTED, at the home of … wait for it… oh, you have to wait for this one …. MITCH MCCONNELL.

Again, I swear to you that I do not. make. this. stuff. up.:

These people are despicable.

The Atlantic Hoax is Dead – Bring on the Next Hoax!

So, The Atlantic’s “Trump hates the military” hoax died on the vine after about a 24-hour run. It died for the simple reason that Trump’s public actions consistently in favor of the interests of the U.S. military and its personnel and retirees rendered the anonymously-sourced hit piece transparently unbelievable to anyone with functioning synapses in their cranial cavity, which of course excludes China Joe Biden.

The obvious hope of the Biden/Harris campaign and its corrupt media toadies was that this particular hoax would lead thousands of Trump supporters to finally abandon him out of disgust. Yeah, that’s not going to happen.

No passenger on the Trump Train is leaping off over this story or for any other reason. The only disgust expressed by any real Trump supporter towards anyone involved in the obvious hoax is toward Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg, the Atlantic’s corrupt owner who is also the poisonous Black Widow of Steve Jobs, and all the other Democrat media toadies like Jake Tapper and Jennifer Griffin who did everything they could to amplify it.

If anything, this hoax backfired on the desperate Democrats and their Unfrozen Caveman nominee every bit as badly as all of their previous hoaxes have done. You would think that they would eventually get a clue that this is really not a good strategy.

And yet, it is inevitable that the hoaxes will continue to come, right through Election Day and for the coming four years of Trump’s second term in office. And none of them will work.

Think about it: Among your circle of friends, co-workers and acquaintances, do you know a single Trump supporter who has said he/she is going to vote for Creepy Uncle McWifeMolester on November 3? Of course you don’t because those people do not exist.

The corrupt media continues to trot out this parade of “former Bush officials” and “former McCain campaign workers” and “former Romney people” who claim to be all like ‘Republicans’ and stuff and who just hate Trump and have signed a letter condemning him along with 400 of their fellow sippers of cheap zinfandel, but so what?

If you look into the backgrounds of every one of those people you will find that they are all creatures of either the DC Swamp or the political swamps in the various state capitols around the country. Their livelihoods, their professional value literally hangs on the proposition of Trump losing in November. These are the very people who Trump has already proven beyond all doubt have zero value to real Americans. None of these ‘Republicans’ voted for Trump in 2016 and not a one of them will vote for him this year.

Shocking, right?

The Atlantic hoax has failed. Miserably. Gloriously. A truly epic fail.

Lacking any other alternative, the Democrats and their media toadies will simply mount the next hoax. We don’t know what form it will take or exactly when it will come, but we do know this: It will also be an epic fail, and it will be glorious.

That is all.

Bret Baier and Jennifer Griffin do a Tag-Team Hatchet Job on President Trump

The Paul Ryanization of Fox News continued yesterday evening on the Fox Report.

Bret Baier and reporter Jennifer Griffin performed a heck of a hatchet job on President Trump last night. – On last night’s Fox Report, Baier and Griffin burnished their CNN/MSNBC cred by parroting the fake reporting of The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, and then having Griffin cite her own anonymous “sources” to support parts of Goldberg’s story.

Which raises the question, when you have anonymous “sources” confirming what anonymous “sources” have to say, what do you really have? Well, you have gossips confirming gossips, for one thing. Griffin’s “reporting” is akin to the old days when housewives would spread neighborhood gossip while hanging clothes outside on the clothesline to dry.

Then you also have cowards confirming cowards, and what good is that to anyone? You also very likely have the exact same cowards “confirming” to Griffin what they said to Goldberg, which is even more worthless.

Meanwhile, Baier and Griffin basically ignored the dozen or so actual, real people who actually witnessed the events Goldberg portrays in his hoax piece and who have the courage to let reporters use their names, all of whom have completely refuted every accusation Goldberg makes. That dozen or so people includes Trump-hater John Bolton, who told Baier that, if he had heard the President say the things Goldberg alleges while serving as National Security Advisor he would not only have made mention of it in his recent hit book, he’d have written entire chapters about it.

Later in the fake newscast, during the nightly panel discussion, the great Mollie Hemingway did point out the fact of those dozen or so on-the-record sources and lightly criticized Griffin for ignoring them in her reporting. Baier then sat back quietly while allowing the despicable #NeverTrump nitwit Stephen Hayes to launch into a minute-long diatribe at Hemingway, something he’d never allow were the tables reversed.

Before yesterday, both Baier and Griffin had been pretty reliable purveyors of actual news. You didn’t always like what they had to report because they were trying to give you the straight skinny and communicate both sides of a story. But you felt confident in their reporting because it was pretty much always properly sourced.

That all ended on Friday. Now we know that Baier and Griffin are in fact no different from the hacks at CNN and MSNBC, perfectly willing to spread rumors damaging to the President based on nothing but the gossip handed them by cowards who are afraid to be identified in public.

If it were limited to the hour-long Fox Report, Baier’s and Griffin’s dive into the depths of rank rumor-mongering wouldn’t be that big a deal. But since their shenanigans, Griffin’s “reporting” is now being used as a tool by every fake reporter in America to claim that Goldberg’s hit piece has now been confirmed to be true. In addition, you have every host on Fox since last night’s broadcast now being required to claim that “Our own Jennifer Griffin confirmed parts of The Atlantic’s story.”

But Jennifer Griffin didn’t confirm anything. She cited cowards who confirmed parts of what other cowards told Goldberg. Or maybe she was even quoting the very same cowards Goldberg quoted – there is no way to know.

What we do know beyond any doubt after last night is this: Baier and Griffin can no longer be trusted to convey actual news to their viewers, and those of us who have watched the Fox Report as our evening newscast for years now need to find something better to do at 5:00 CT on weekdays.

This is all so liberating.

That is all.

The Atlantic’s Hoax Story is Already Falling Completely Apart

In case you were wondering why The Atlantic ran with the anti-Trump hoax story today, well, here you go:

Oh.

Incidentally, look at the other names on that list:

Meg Whitman – former GOP candidate for Governor in California;

George Soros – the most evil human being on the planet;

Jeffrey Katzenberg – former chairman at Disney;

James Murdoch – son of Ruppert Murdoch, honcho at Fox News.

What fun company Joe Biden’s elder-abusing handlers are keeping these days.

Meanwhile, The Atlantic’s obviously fake story is falling completely apart:

One of the main allegations in The Atlantic’s story is that President Trump cancelled a 2018 visit to the Normandy graveyard in which hundreds of heroic U.S. soldiers are buried because he considered them to be “losers.” The weather on that day was terrible, and the White House stated that, because the President would have had to travel from Paris to Normandy in a helicopter, the pilots had deemed the trip unsafe.

Noted Trump hater, the inveterate warmonger John Bolton, was there that day and told NYTimes fake reporters Peter Bakers and Maggie Haberman that the White House version of events was correct.

Oh.

The great Twitter user TechnoFog went even further, citing documents obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests that prove that the trip was cancelled due to the bad weather:

Oh.

Nevertheless, the corrupt news media has persisted. – The cretins at The Hill decided it was newsworthy today to repeat a Daily Beast story from yesterday that tells us that the widow of … wait for it … Mr. Freakin’ Rogers does not approve of President Trump.

No word if The Hill is now seeking comment from the widows of Captain Kangaroo, Mr. Green Jeans, Howdy Doody and Bozo the Clown, but it seems likely.

You just could never make this stuff up, folks.

But back to The Atlantic and its melting-down hoax story. Folks, this is pure, utter and complete panic and desperation on the part of your fake news media. By mid-morning, Democrat suck-up fake reporters like Haberman and CNN’s resident eunuch Brian Stelter were practically begging the “sources” for The Atlantic’s fake story to reveal themselves. Haberman even essentially outed John Kelly as one of the “sources” while doing so.

Who might the other “sources” be? Isn’t it obvious, given the subject matter? How about James Mattis, like Kelly a war hawk who hated Trump’s non-interventionist foreign policy and who has already signed onto a letter opposing his re-election. Or how about H.R. McMaster, who filled the National Security Council staff inside the White House with Obama holdovers, and who also hated Trump’s refusal to start new wars around the globe.

That is of course assuming The Atlantic has any real “sources” for its story at all, and didn’t just make it all up out of whole cloth. Author Jeffrey Goldberg told CNN this morning that his “sources” didn’t want to have their names used because they’re all a-skeered of having to deal with “angry tweets and all the rest…”:

Thus, whomever these “sources” really happen to be not only lack the slightest shred of personal integrity, they’re rank cowards as well.

If any or all of the generals named above are indeed involved, that is not a good look at all, is it?

That is all.

The Atlantic Rolls out the Next Anti-Trump Hoax

As the election approaches, we’re back to the system of media outlets taking turns rolling out stories supporting the various Democrat narratives. Yesterday, the news-fakers at ABC turned out this little ditty:

Yes, friends, this rehash of the Democrat/Media “it’s all Russia all the time” narrative is that you should not believe your lyin’ eyes and ears when it comes to Joe Biden’s obvious advancing dementia, because it’s all just the Russians. Or something. Honestly, I don’t even know what it is – the headline was so utterly absurd and without any merit at all that I refused to even click on the link.

You go read it if you care to.

Then there’s the despicable news-fakers at The Atlantic, the dying magazine’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg no less, who rolled out a classic pathetic hit piece Thursday. This one alleges that President Donald Trump hates the military – especially soldiers who are dead or wounded – and goes around every day finding excuses to make disparaging remarks about them.

For this obvious hoax, the Atlantic expects to you suspend disbelief, ignore what you see and hear from the President every day, and believe the “unnamed sources” upon whose alleged word the entire story is based.  These “sources” may or may not exist – you have no way of really knowing. The Atlantic, which has repeatedly been caught spreading the most heinous fake news over the last five years, expects you to trust its “journalistic ethics”, which is akin to a shark telling you to trust it not to eat you.

Within hours of the story’s breaking, at least three current and former close advisors to the President posted absolute, unqualified refutations of the allegations in it. They include General Keith Kellogg who serves as Mike Pence’s National Security Advisor:

Again we see a corrupt media outlet expecting you to ignore your lying eyes and ears and just believe them. This is just another example of how the utter abandonment by our corrupt national media of anything resembling journalistic integrity threatens our entire society.

It hasn’t been long ago that no reputable editor would have ever dreamed of going to print with an explosive story such as this based purely on cowards who refuse to reveal their names. But the media decided in 2016 that literally anything is “fair game” when going after Trump. And hey, we’re all out of “reputable editors,” and stuck with Democrat activist hacks like Jeffrey Goldberg instead.

Goldberg claims multiple sources, but the Atlantic’s track record is so sketchy that we’d be fools to believe any of them truly exist. If they do exist, can anyone doubt that, if their names were revealed, we would find loyalty to Barack Obama in their resume’? Of course we would, which is why their names will never be revealed. Again, that’s if they even exist.

This is the state of our entire news media today, and it is incredibly divisive. Struggling rags like the Atlantic, desperate for readers and web traffic, are willing to go to press with any story, no matter how absurd, if they think it could go viral.

This story did go viral, as the China bots and outrage mobs on Twitter and Facebook made sure to spread it as quickly as they could. So, the Atlantic made a little money from its advertisers for the day and may get a few new subscribers, although China bots don’t tend to buy subscriptions to dying fake news magazines.

But here’s our looming reality through November 3: We’re going to see a new fake story every day from one corrupt media outlet or another. It’s like they have a batting order that’s been written up by the DNC. This week we’ve seen the daily narrative booster story from Axios batting leadoff, the Washington Post hitting second and The Atlantic taking the batter’s box third. The ABC story mentioned above doesn’t count because it was just the 10,000th rehash of the “Russia, Russia, Russia” narrative.

Today we’ll find out which corrupt media outlet is batting cleanup. My money’s on the New York Times.

That is all.

No American Has Any Obligation to be Honest With Our Dishonest Media

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Lewandowski’s right: No one has any obligation to be honest with a dishonest press. – Writing in The Atlantic, Russell Berman has a pearl-clutching piece about Cory Lewandowski treating Jerrold Nadler’s contemptible fake impeachment hearing yesterday with, well, contempt. Which is exactly what Lewandowski did, and deservedly so.

Berman lays out several examples of Lewandowski’s alleged contempt, and they’re all pretty much accurate. The upper east-side reader base of The Atlantic will all tut-tut and mutter ‘well, I never,’ naturally forgetting how they all cheered when an array of Obama-era officials committed mass perjury before the same committee during 2017-18, when it was chaired by a Republican.

One very interesting exchange Berman whines about came when Lewandowski told Democrat hired consultant Lawfare lawyer Barry Berke that,  “I have no obligation to be honest with the media because they are just as dishonest as anybody else,” a statement that elicited gasps in the hearing room. No doubt most, if not all of those gasps came from members of the media assembled there.

So, here’s the irony of a writer for The Atlantic complaining about Lewandowski’s contempt not just for the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, but also for the fake news media: On the same day Berman’s piece was published, the magazine produced another piece, written by the dishonest pair of New York Times reporters who were caught in massive lies about Justice Brett Kavanaugh over the weekend.

As discovered by the great Mollie Hemingway, Senior Editor for The Federalist, The Atlantic’s piece, intended as a free advertisement for the Times’ reporters’ new smear book on Kavanaugh, contains another gigantic whopper. As we pointed out in yesterday’s Campaign Update, the book focuses on an alleged incident during Kavanaugh’s time in college – 38 years ago – in which he supposedly committed a lewd act at a party towards a girl who was supposedly there.

Never mind that the girl in question has no memory of any such incident, or even being at the party – something you would think would stick in her mind into perpetuity. Never mind that the authors end up admitting that they have literally no actual witnesses to the alleged lewd act at all, and base their entire despicable book on pure hearsay that no real journalist would ever dream of citing. This is Brett Kavanaugh, threat to Roe v. Wade, we’re talking about here, so the dragon must be slain by any means possible, even if it requires the commission of conscious journalistic mendacity.

Hemingway exposed the authors for the deceitful hacks they truly are over the weekend, taking less than 24 hours to do so, and now exposes them even further as lying yet again in their Atlantic piece. In that piece, the authors claim that “The people who allegedly witnessed the event—Kavanaugh’s friends Kevin Genda, David Todd, and David White—have kept mum about it.”

That is a straight-up falsehood, as Hemingway details, pointing to a New Yorker piece written about the alleged incident a year ago:

One of the male classmates who Ramirez said egged on Kavanaugh denied any memory of the party. ‘I don’t think Brett would flash himself to Debbie, or anyone, for that matter,’ he said. Asked why he thought Ramirez was making the allegation, he responded, ‘I have no idea.’ The other male classmate who Ramirez said was involved in the incident commented, ‘I have zero recollection.’

In a statement, two of those male classmates who Ramirez alleged were involved in the incident, the wife of a third male student she said was involved, and one other classmate, Dan Murphy, disputed Ramirez’s account of events: ‘We were the people closest to Brett Kavanaugh during his first year at Yale. He was a roommate to some of us, and we spent a great deal of time with him, including in the dorm where this incident allegedly took place. Some of us were also friends with Debbie Ramirez during and after her time at Yale. We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it—and we did not.

There’s even more, but you get the gist. The New York Times reporters – who I refuse to name here for the same reason I refuse to name mass killers, because they’re all shameful attention-seekers – at best failed to conduct even the most rudimentary research into the previous reporting by others on this alleged incident. At worst, they simply hoped to cover up the truth about what these supposed witnesses have in fact said about it.

So, this just becomes another in a long, long line of incidents in which “news” outlets like the New York Times and The Atlantic have been caught in blatant efforts to deceive the public about Trump-related officials. It should also be noted that the New Yorker piece referred to by Hemingway was itself revealed to contain a string of falsehoods shortly after it was published.

In the 4 years since Donald Trump announced his presidential candidacy, we have witnessed dozens of incidents – if not hundreds – in which supposed “news” organizations like these three, along with CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, the Washington Post and many others have published or aired heinously false reports about President Trump, his family, and a vast array of Administration officials and been forced to later sheepishly correct them and even fire the reporters and editors involved.

These are not honest mistakes. These are not oversights or errors in the editing process. These are obvious, intentional efforts to deceive in order to attain a political goal. We know this because the “mistakes” always, without exception, serve to damage the President or anyone connected to him. Honest mistakes would cut both ways.

This is the sorry state of America’s news media today, and it is not getting better over time. If anything, the incidents of outright false reporting are accelerating as the Democrats and their media toadies continue to fail in their efforts to “get” Trump. A sense of rising desperation does that to people.

Given this reality, what possible obligation would Cory Lewandowski or any other American have to deal with such a manifestly dishonest media establishment honestly and truthfully? When you know that anything you say to a reporter is going to be twisted, edited, omitted or taken out of context in order to be made to seem damaging, why worry about honesty? When you know the media outlet you are dealing with cares nothing about facts, why bother with facts?

The press corps can gasp, tsk-tsk and mutter all the “well, I nevers” they want, but this is a situation of their own making. They have made this bed, and now they are lying in it, both figuratively and literally.

Enemies of the people, plain and simple.

That is all.

The Climate Scammers are Coming for your Vacations

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

The only thing “green” about this stunt was the 4 million British pounds it cost to build the contraption. – 16-year-old Swedish student Greta Thunberg has been hailed globally as a “climate change” hero for crossing the Atlantic recently on a solar-powered boat. The trip took 15 days to complete, and got her more free, fawning media coverage than Irish Bob O’Rourke received last year in his failed race against Ted Cruz.

But it turns out, as all these Climate Scam stunts do, that the stunt was just a stunt and not “green” at all. Nevermind the decidedly un-green way in which solar panels are produced; now, the sailing team who accompanied Thunberg on her journey will fly two of its members on a carbon-spewing jet all the way across the Atlantic in order to bring the boat back. Because, see, there are no solar-powered planes capable of making that journey.

When asked to comment by the fawning Associated Press, team spokesman Holly Cova said that it was “an imperfect solution,” then said the team believes offsetting the emissions by funding carbon-reducing projects elsewhere “is better than doing nothing.” That of course is the same dodge celebrities with carbon footprints larger than Uganda’s – like Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio – employ to justify their lavish lifestyles.

Thus, Ms. Thunberg is revealed to be just another in the long, sad line of child tools employed by cynical adults to push the global socialist agenda. But we really knew that all along, didn’t we?

Speaking of Climate Scammers, they are now coming for your vacations. – Don’t say we didn’t warn you about this. The leftist activists at The Atlantic have a piece out this morning lecturing you on the evils of taking vacations that require air travel. This is of course in keeping with the the fake news media’s tireless efforts to prop up Alexandria Ocasio Cortez’s ludicrous “Green New Deal.”

The piece, written by a guilt-ridden travel writer who is no more worthy of being named here than the Odessa shooter, contains this outright fabrication that illustrates its deceptive agenda:

Yet optional travel is also a major contributor to ecocide. Last year, a University of Sydney study examined the environmental impact of the many activities involved in tourism—including transportation, shopping, and more—and found that it accounts for 8 percent of all global carbon emissions, far more than previously imagined.

Given that all man-made sources only account for less than 4% of global carbon emissions, it is pretty much impossible for vacation travel alone to account for double that. The author employs the classic Climate Scammer trick of leaving out the whole “man-made” part. If the study cited is accurate, then the correct percentage caused by “optional travel” is 32/100ths of 1% (8% of 4%) of “all global carbon emissions.”

In other words, it’s a rounding error.

But that’s what the Climate Scammers do – everything they say is a lie couched within carefully constructed, high-minded rhetoric about “saving the planet.” The entire Green New Deal outline is a wonderful example of this tactic.

Your vacation isn’t killing the planet. What is really happening here is that international vacation travel has become a booming capitalist enterprise in recent years, thus making it a target that the global socialist Climate Scam must seek to destroy. Any private enterprise that produces profits and economic growth automatically becomes something these people must attempt to kill. Unless, of course, that enterprise is engaged in by the Gores, DiCaprios and other fabulously leftist heroes of the Climate Scam.

Here’s another very telling quote that illustrates that dichotomy of targeting:

“Going someplace far away, we now know, is the biggest single action a private citizen can take to worsen climate change,” the journalist Andy Newman wrote recently in The New York Times. “One seat on a flight from New York to Los Angeles effectively adds months worth of human-generated carbon emissions to the atmosphere. And yet we fly more and more.”

Ok, so, “one seat on a flight from New York and Los Angeles” is now something to be vilified using false, deceptive claims attributing a jumbo jet flight’s entire emissions to a single passenger. But nowhere in the Atlantic piece will you find the author similarly excoriating the globalist Climate Scam heroes for flying hundreds of private jets and sailing dozens of gigantic, gas-guzzling yachts to half a dozen or more international “climate” conferences each and every year.

Whose carbon footprint is bigger? Is it the footprint of the middle class couple who occupy two seats out of 300 on a Lufthansa flight from Dallas to Rome to embark on their bucket list European vacation, a trip for which they have planned and saved for the last 20 years? Or is it the billionaire climate huckster who occupies one of six filled seats on a private jet from New York to Geneva? Or is it the hundred-millionaire movie star who chugs across the Atlantic with a couple dozen friends and hangers-on on his 200-foot, diesel-powered yacht?

Your vacations are not killing the planet, folks. Ignore these evil scammers. Enjoy your life.

That is all.

God Save us From Reliance on “Experts”

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

God save us from reliance on “experts”. – David Epstein has a fantastic piece in the June issue of the Atlantic, one which illustrates why we “normals” out here in Flyover Country should avoid listening to predictions made by “experts”.

Regular readers will know that I make fun of “experts” and their persistent wrongness all the time, especially those in the fields of politics, “climate change” and economics. Epstein’s piece doesn’t directly address those specific fields in any detail, but he does illustrate major reasons why media-recognized “experts” are so consistently-wrong about pretty much everything.

How many consecutive months do we have to read headlines like “Trump economy adds 263,000 jobs in April, far surpassing expert projections” before we stop listening to “experts” on the economy? How many times must we see headlines like “Australia’s conservative party shocks pollsters and pundits with easy victory” before we accept the reality that almost all pollsters and pundits suffer from a chronic anti-conservative bias? How many times must we reflect on predictions by climate “experts” that the polar ice caps would be gone by 2015, that snow would end by 2020, that New York City would be under water by 2025 before we realize that these people are just a bunch of politically-motivated scam artists?

Epstein’s piece is long but well worth reading in full, so I highly recommend you all do so. But here are some key snippets that tell us all we really need to know about “experts” in any field:

The integrators [those who had expertise in multiple fields] outperformed their colleagues in pretty much every way, but especially trounced them on long-term predictions. Eventually, Tetlock bestowed nicknames (borrowed from the philosopher Isaiah Berlin) on the experts he’d observed: The highly specialized hedgehogs knew “one big thing,” while the integrator foxes knew “many little things.”

Hedgehogs are deeply and tightly focused. Some have spent their career studying one problem. Like Ehrlich and Simon, they fashion tidy theories of how the world works based on observations through the single lens of their specialty. Foxes, meanwhile, “draw from an eclectic array of traditions, and accept ambiguity and contradiction,” Tetlock wrote. Where hedgehogs represent narrowness, foxes embody breadth.

Incredibly, the hedgehogs performed especially poorly on long-term predictions within their specialty. They got worse as they accumulated experience and credentials in their field. The more information they had to work with, the more easily they could fit any story into their worldview.

One study compiled a decade of annual dollar-to-euro exchange-rate predictions made by 22 international banks: Barclays, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, and others. Each year, every bank predicted the end-of-year exchange rate. The banks missed every single change of direction in the exchange rate. In six of the 10 years, the true exchange rate fell outside the entire range of all 22 bank forecasts.

Tetlock, along with his wife and collaborator, the psychologist Barbara Mellers, ran a team named the Good Judgment Project. Rather than recruit decorated experts, they issued an open call for volunteers. After a simple screening, they invited 3,200 people to start forecasting. Among those, they identified a small group of the foxiest forecasters—bright people with extremely wide-ranging interests and unusually expansive reading habits, but no particular relevant background—and weighted team forecasts toward their predictions. They destroyed the competition.

And here is the real killshot:

Tetlock and Mellers found that not only were the best forecasters foxy as individuals, but they tended to have qualities that made them particularly effective collaborators. They were “curious about, well, really everything,” as one of the top forecasters told me.

“Curious about…everything.” Think about that for a moment: My most persistent criticism of both pollsters and pundits is that they are singularly lacking in curiosity. They are stuck in their little New York City or Inside-the-Beltway echo chambers and never make any effort to venture out of them. They are comfortable; they are content; they love existing in a tiny, insulated world in which they are recognized as somehow being someone special. To venture out of that comfort zone is to risk that feeling of special-ness.

The average margin of error among pollsters in Wisconsin in 2016 was 6 percentage points. Yet, the conceit of every one of those “expert” pollsters is their methods produce results with only a 2-3 point “margin of error.” If you point that out to them, you invariably get some flippant insult or sarcastic retort, but never any sort of thoughtful, introspective admission that their methods are frankly crap.

The same is true of pundits and journalists.  Charles Krauthamer, who I admired throughout his career and life, was wrong about literally every aspect of the GOP’s 2015-16 nominating contest in general, and Donald Trump specifically. In that studious and stubborn wrongness, he had plenty of company. Pretty much every other recognized Inside-the-Beltway pundit was similarly wrong.

These folks were 180 degrees wrong because they never ventured outside of the Beltway to actually talk to some Trump supporters and try to figure out who they really were and what they were really thinking. That same refusal to learn was also shared by all pollsters except for Scott Rasmussen and pretty much every working reporter and editor in every national media outlet. They all hated being constantly proved wrong, hated the people who were responsible for their wrongness, and thus refused to make any effort to learn about them and understand how they think. They clung to their biases and preconceived misconceptions because are the very things that drive their own personal self-esteem.

To this day, in fact, two-and-a-half years after the 2016 election, almost none of these “experts” have ever made that effort. They remain ignorant, hived up in their echo chambers, and thus remain constantly wrong about pretty much everything.

So, why do the media-recognized “experts” seem to be consistently wrong about pretty much everything?

Because they are. It isn’t your imagination.

That is all.
