The Fake Media Disgraces Itself In The Wake Of The President’s Speech

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Your fake news media in action!  – President Trump gave a 9 minute speech on the need for ramped-up border security Tuesday night, and in response, the Associated Press disgraced itself with a “report” on the speech that is so biased that it reads like the work of a 14 year-old writing for the local jr. high newspaper.

The AP report’s very first sentence claims that the President’s speech “was heavy with dark immigration rhetoric but offered little in the way of concessions or new ideas”. The word “dark” has long been one of the fake media/Democrat coalition’s favorite words to describe any proposal or language coming from any GOP president going all the way back to Ronald Reagan. It obviously polls well for them.

The third paragraph of the AP piece dutifully recites the Democrats’ top-line talking point, accusing the President of “appealing to ‘fear, not facts’ and manufacturing a border crisis for political gain.” The AP makes no attempt to analyze the accuracy – or lack thereof – of those accusations by Democrats.  Because of course it doesn’t.

The fifth paragraph is an ode to the Democrat talking points on the partial government “shutdown” which really isn’t a shutdown at all, stating that Mr. Trump “addressed the nation as the shutdown stretched through its third week, with hundreds of thousands of federal workers going without pay and some congressional Republicans growing increasingly jittery about the spreading impact of the impasse.”

Fact:  No federal employee has at this point missed a paycheck due to this “shutdown.”  Not one.

Paragraph #7 accuses the President’s re-election campaign of raising money related to the border crisis, as if that is something unusual.  Politicians of both parties regularly use major public events and crises as events to send out fundraising letters.  It happens all the time, and is hardly a newsworthy event.  The AP would have never dreamed of mentioning this during the Obama years.

Paragraphs #9, #10 and #11 recite more Democrat talking points. You can read them for yourself.

Paragraph #12 is a doozy:  “In his dire address, Trump ticked off a string of statistics and claims to make his case that there is a crisis at the border, but a number of his statements were misleading, such as saying the new trade deal with Mexico would pay for the wall, or suggesting through gruesome examples that immigrants are more likely to commit crime.”

Note the use of the word “dire”, an editorial comment that has no place in a “news” report.  Then there’s the claim that the President was “misleading” in accurately stating that the new trade deal with Mexico will in fact pay for the wall, which it will do many times over in the coming years.  That trade agreement is far more favorable to the U.S. than NAFTA, and will have a significant stimulative impact on the U.S. economy.  The AP is lying here, plain and simple.

That final passage, “suggesting through gruesome examples that immigrants are more likely to commit crime” is yet another AP lie.  An outright, intentional misleading of its audience.  First, the President NEVER claims that “immigrants” are “more likely to commit crime.”  Never.  Not one time.

President Trump does, however, claim that ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are more likely to commit crime in the U.S., which is unarguably true, and which Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Clinton have also correctly pointed out during their careers. The AP is fully aware of this unarguable FACT, but of course omits it from its fake reporting.

Paragraph #13 is another doozy of fake-newsery.  First sentence:  “Trump, who has long railed against illegal immigration at the border, has recently seized on humanitarian concerns to argue there is a broader crisis that can only be solved with a wall.” In fact, candidate Donald Trump “seized” on humanitarian concerns over the border crisis throughout his 2015 and 2016 presidential campaign.  Time after time after time, in dozens of campaign rallies all across the country.

Somehow, the AP missed it.  Go figure.

Second sentence: “But critics say the security risks are overblown and the administration is at least partly to blame for the humanitarian situation.” “Critics” = Democrats. More talking points, which the AP makes no attempt to analyze in the editorial fashion it reserves for Republicans.

Paragraph #14 accuses the President of using “emotional language” to describe horrific murders and rapes committed in recent years by illegal immigrants, crimes the AP has done its best to studiously ignore, like the recent murder of a California law enforcement officer by an illegal immigrant who had been given sancutary by the Democrat Party’s policies in that state.

Paragraph #15 repeats the outright deception about “immigrants” being less likely to commit crimes, leaving out the word “illegal”, which the AP knows is the true focus of the President’s concerns.

In between those last two paragraphs is a chart that shows the yearly apprehensions along our Southwest border.  This chart was published in early 2018 by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.  It shows that border apprehensions fell dramatically during President Trump’s first year in office, as potential immigrants became discouraged at the loss of the Obama Administration’s welcoming hand. The AP dishonestly presents this as some sort of proof that there is no crisis at our border.

What the AP report studiously ignores is the well-documented reality that border apprehensions rose dramatically during 2018, as leftist groups in the U.S. ramped up their efforts to organize caravans of immigrants to assault the border. Indeed, apprehensions in May, 2018 were 400% higher than those recorded in April, 2017.

That’s a crisis.

The rest of the AP report is equally disgraceful, but I’m running out of space here.

Our reality is this: There is indeed a crisis at our Southern border. It exists due to 30 years of idiotic open borders policies enacted by a succession of globalist presidents working with pliable congresses, supported by a string of court decisions issued by lawless leftist federal judges. The result of all of that horrific policy-making and court-deciding is that, once illegal immigrants cross into our country it is now virtually impossible for our government to send them back to their home country.

The leaders of the Democrat Party love this situation – despite all of the human- and drug-trafficking and massive human misery that comes along with it – because they view these new illegal aliens as a gigantic future voting bloc. Many U.S. business interests love this situation because they enjoy the cheap labor.  It’s cynical and disgraceful and it is destroying our society.

The only way to effectively combat the situation is to prevent the waves from entering the country in the first place, because once they are here, very few are ever returning home.  The most effective way to prevent their entry is with a wall, plain and simple.

This is a crisis the Democrats and establishment Republicans have created, and it is a crisis President Trump was elected to resolve.

Our fake news media will never tell you any of this, because none of it is in the approved narrative they’ve coordinated with the Democrats in Washington.  But this is our reality, and it is simply unsustainable.

God Bless President Trump for trying to do something about it.

That is all.

Trump Disrupts Democrat War on U.S. Workers With New NAFTA Deal

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Hey, remember when all the “experts” were telling you that President Donald Trump could not possibly successfully renegotiate the 25 year-old NAFTA deal? – Yeah, they were wrong about that, too.

The new name’s a little clumsy, but the deal is done, and the deal is much, much better for America’s workers, especially those in blue collar, farming and union jobs.  Hey, remember when those were the kind of jobs the Democrat Party used to at least pretend to care about?  Yeah, good times…

Today, as you absorb the no-doubt slanted news about this new trade agreement, remember that the very same “experts” who told you this could not be done are also telling you that Donald Trump will never, never, never, ever be able to really get the Crazy Little Fat Guy in North Korea to de-nuclearize the Korean Peninsula.  Do not be surprised when the successful completion of that effort is a major plank in Trump’s re-election campaign in 2020.

The Teenage Drama Queen gets a by-line in the New York Times, and boy is it a hoot. – Former FBI Director and current teenage drama queen James Comey penned an op/ed for the sad old New York Times on Sunday, because of course he did.  The most corrupt director the agency has ever had slammed the mounting of this week-long FBI investigation into all the absurd accusations directed at Judge Brett Kavanaugh, not be cause the charges are so obviously false, not because the Judge has already been the subject of 6 previous in-depth, open-ended FBI background checks, but because…wait for it…you can’t “put a shot clock” on an FBI investigation.

In other words, the very same corrupt, pathological liar who twice put a strict shot clock on the agency’s sham “investigation” into Hillary Clinton’s illegal email server has of course joined the Democrat chorus against the week-long time frame for this investigation that the Democrats agreed to just 3 days ago.  There are perfectly descriptive words for James Comey, but I just can’t use them here.

Sunday’s @GDBlackmon Twitter Deep Thought…

Hey, you know it’s true.

Meanwhile, in the Texas Senate Race… – Last Thursday, when it looked like the Senate would be held into session over the weekend to deal with the Kavanaugh nomination, Ted Cruz informed Irish Bob O’Rourke that he would not be able to make it to Houston for their scheduled debate early Sunday evening.  On Saturday morning, Cruz notified Irish Bob that he could in fact make it to Houston thanks to the idiotic machinations of Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, but Irish Bob declined, saying he now had made other “plans.”

So, what was Irish Bob doing at the very time the debate was supposed to be taking place?  Why, he was engaged in an hour-long Facebook Live session from his kitchen.

Obviously, Irish Bob still hasn’t figured out how he’s going to backtrack from his false denial of leaving the scene of the wreck he caused while driving drunk back in the 1990s.  Until he does, we probably won’t be seeing any more debates between the two Texas senate candidates.

Back to the Kavanaugh nomination process one more time. – So, the Democrat playbook for this week is now clear…

  • Agree to a limited FBI investigation to last no more than one week;
  • Spend the weekend wailing that the investigation is tooooooooooo liiiiiiiiimmmmittttteeeeeddddd!!!;
  • Find male “acquaintances” of Judge Kavanaugh from high school and college to tell Democrat media activists that the Judge, when a teenager, was a sloppy drunk;
  • Pretend it’s a really big deal that the FBI is questioning the second, obviously lying, female accuser;
  • Have the Dragon Lady from Hawaii all over TV claiming that the investigation is “falling apart” before it even gets started in earnest;
  • And then, late in the week – probably Wednesday night or sometime Thursday – have another female accuser crawl out of the woodwork with more false allegations; or
  • Maybe even have some leftwing activist parent of one of the kids Kavanaugh has coached in basketball over the years appear on CNN or MSNBC and accuse him of being a pedophile.

Or maybe both new accusations will come.  Remember that the Democrats’ favorite Saul Alinskly tactic is “projection,” i.e., accusing the Republicans of the exact behaviors of which they themselves are guilty.  Thus, accusations of pedophilia are pretty much inevitable, and indeed the leftists at USA Today already ran an op/ed implying that of Kavanaugh as an initial shot across the bow.

These people are demented, depraved and despicable, and nothing is beneath them.  To them, this is a war, literally.  It is a war not just on Judge Kavanaugh, not just on President Trump, not just on Republicans, but on all Americans who are not part of one of their aggrieved classes.  Frankly, it has even become a war on many of them – witness the bullying and booing of Kanye West that took place during his appearance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend.

This is not your father’s Democrat Party.  There are no moderates in that party anymore, no Scoop Jackson Democrats or even Lloyd Benson Democrats.  It is only possible to see their true nature with clear eyes when you accept the reality that there simply are no more decent people in the national Democrat Party today.  Not one.

These people are all about one thing:  The re-acquisition of power.  They will do literally anything to achieve that goal.  So buckle up, and don’t be surprised by the depravity to come this week.

That is all.

While the Fake News Media Focuses on Flag Etiquette, Trump Keeps Winning

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

But…but…but…all the “smart” people at CNN and the NYTimes assured me this could not happen. – When President Donald Trump (I never tire of typing those three words) announced on Monday that his administration had reached a new trade agreement with Mexico that would replace NAFTA, he didn’t leave the accurate reporting of it to the whims of the fake news media.  Knowing that if he just made a statement about his final call with Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto to seal the deal, he would soon be facing anonymously-sourced fake news stories from CNN and the New York Times claiming that he insulted Mr. Nieto or his wife, or perhaps his dog, the President chose a different approach:  He simply invited the White House press corps into the Oval Office to listen to his call with Nieto live, as it took place.

Thus, fake news averted, for the most part, although fake news outlets like Reuters managed to report on the deal while leaving out mention of the most key parts of it, such as the new requirement that manufacturers of automobiles and other hard products in Mexico give their workers collective bargaining rights for the first time.  Another critical provision, that 45% of auto parts made in Mexico must be made by workers earning at least $16 per hour, also received short shrift from the fakest fake news outlets like CNN and the Times.

These toady outlets for the Democrat Party are loath to accurately report on these aspects of the new deal since they represent gigantic wins for America’s blue collar workers, workers who were just a few years ago a major cog in the Democrat Party’s voter base.  Under this new agreement, those workers will no longer have to compete with Mexican workers making $1 per hour in order to hold onto their jobs.

Interestingly, as I type this piece this morning, Fox News is airing a clip of then-candidate Barack Hussein Obama, in a Democrat primary debate on August 7, 2007, advocating for exactly the reforms to NAFTA that are contained in this new agreement, in order to “protect American workers.”  Thus does Donald Trump not only keep his own campaign promises, he keeps the promises made – and broken – by America’s Biggest Mistake.

WINNING WINNING WINNING WINNING WINNING WINNING. – The markets kind of liked the news of the agreement with Mexico.  The NASDAQ went berserk, closing above the 8,000 mark for the first time ever.  The S&P 500 also closed at a record high of 2,896, while the Dow Jones Industrial average gained 259 points to close above 26,000 for the first time since February 1.

Democrats and fake journalists all across America fell into fits of depression at this happy news for everyone else.

This is Donald Trump, preparing to make like Teddy Roosevelt. – A few weeks ago, the Campaign Update focused on how President Trump might conduct a new strategy for his second two years in office should the Democrats gain control of one or both houses of congress in the upcoming midterm elections.  The piece, titled “Trump’s Post-Midterm Move:  Make Like Teddy Roosevelt”, posited that a Donald Trump faced with a hostile congress that would stonewall any new legislation might decide to focus on using the powers of his office and regulatory agencies to rein in the abuses of social media giants like Facebook, Twitter and Google, which are without question today’s version of the industrial “trusts” that Mr. Roosevelt faced down and broke up at the turn of the 20th century.

This wasn’t just mere speculation on my part:  It’s a well-educated guess based on the President’s past statements and demeanor in office thus far.  This morning, Mr. Trump gave us a preview of potential coming attractions via his Twitter feed:

Over the past couple of weeks, the President has also fired similar shots across the bows of Facebook and Twitter.  As the Campaign Update has pointed out many times over the past 20 months, Mr. Trump doesn’t just burp these tweets out between sips of Diet Coke for no reason.  Every tweet he sends is sent for a tactical purpose, and many turn out to be stage-setters for actions he plans to take.

The powers of the presidency, when focused by an extremely strong personality like Donald Trump, can be a very daunting opponent for even the most gigantic corporation to face off with.  Standard Oil learned this lesson the hard way about 115 years ago.  The creeps who have set themselves up as the arbiters of free speech and restricters of the public’s right to know at these social media giants might want to start paying attention to the messages they are being sent by this particular President and start adjusting their practices accordingly.

But they won’t.

Just another day in fake news media and abusive social media America.

That is all.

President Trump is Laying the Groundwork for Executive Action on the Border Situation

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

There is just no good reason why any average citizen needs to own g…er…knives? – The murder rate in London surpassed that of New York City for the first time ever in February, as Islamic-driven knife killings continue to grow in the gun-banning metropolis.  As of this writing, no one at CNN had asked David Hogg for his views on London’s pressing need to ban knives.  But it seems to be just a matter of time.

Speaking of the ever-more annoying Mr. Hogg, he’s gonna have some ‘splainin’ to do with his CNN masters next time he goes in for an interview.  That’s because on Sunday he made the mistake of posing for a photo with Javier Manjarres, a Republican congressional candidate who is challenging Democrat incumbent Ted Deutch.

As if the sin of paling around with a – gasp! – Republican wasn’t damning enough in the eyes of everyone at the fakest of all fake news outlets, Hogg’s error was made even more unforgivable by the fact that Manjarres was wearing a t-shirt that depicts President Donald Trump urinating on the CNN logo (see below).  Oh, my, CNN might have to go find itself another gun-banning teenager to exploit.

Headlines we never saw during the Obama years… – The Wall Street Journal reports that the big economic issue facing Iowa and much of the rest of the American midwest is that there are too many jobs and not enough workers to fill them.

According to the Journal:

“It is a problem playing out in many parts of the Midwest, a region with lower unemployment and higher job-opening rates than the rest of the country. Employers, especially in more rural areas, are finding that there are just too few workers. That upends a long-running view in Washington, D.C., and many state capitals, where policy makers often say the unemployed simply lack the skills to get hired.”

Should the pace of economic growth and job creation experienced in the 14 months of the Trump Administration continue for another 14 months, this midwest-based “problem” will inevitably spread to other parts of the country.  This is an almost inevitable outcome as the overall economy approaches full employment.

Of course, there will be exceptions to the rule, isolated pockets of the country where chronic unemployment levels will persist and people will remain addicted to the public dole.  Those pockets of economic under-performance are easy to predict:  They go by names like Chicago, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans, Philadelphia and other big cities that have been governed by Democrats for decades.  It’s the way Democrat politicians like it to be.

DACA is dead, and NAFTA could be next, if Mexican officials don’t act to halt the caravan of more than 1200 Central American nationals that has been making its way through their country unimpeded over the last few days.  At least, that’s what President Trump said on his Twitter feed yesterday and early this morning, and as we have seen so many times in the past, the President doesn’t just toss stuff like this out there for no good reason.

The tweet storm began on Sunday morning, with these two Presidential messages:

“Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release. Getting more dangerous. “Caravans” coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!”

and..

“Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!”

Mr. Trump expanded on this theme with three more tweets this morning, concluding with:

“DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon… No longer works. Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!”

So, after 7 months of publicly holding out hope that the cynical Democrats might want to make a deal in which DACA gets extended in exchange for wall funding and other immigration reforms, the President has finally figured out that the Dems never had any intention of making any such deal, preferring instead to keep the DACA kids in limbo so they can exploit the issue in the November midterm elections.  Ok, he knew that all along, but it’s good to see him abandoning all pretense, and calling things as they really are.

The problem the President has here is that there is literally no reason at all to expect the Senate Republicans to “go nuclear” or even lift a finger at all in an effort to change the immigration laws.  At least half of the GOP caucus in the senate favors chain migration and the insane “diversity lottery” system in their eagerness to attract campaign money from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Sadly, it is up to the President alone to stop the ongoing invasion coming across our southern border.  If the President wants to build his long-promised wall, he’ll have to find a way to get it done using his emergency powers and the defense budget, as we discussed last week.  Expecting Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to do anything about it is just a waste of time and energy.

Given the President’s past use of his Twitter feed as a prelude to taking action, we should expect him to take some form of emergency executive action to address the border situation in the coming days.

Just another day in the southern invasion continues and congress doesn’t care America.

That is all.

Trump Giveth, and Trump Taketh Away

It is hard to imagine a more effective means of slowing the nascent oil and gas drilling boom in the United States than to artificially increase the price for steel via import tariffs.  Everywhere you look in the oil patches around the country, you see massive amounts of steel being employed.

Oil storage tanks? Made from steel. Dehydrator units and compressor stations and heater-treaters and amine units? Made from steel. Drilling rigs? Made from steel.  All those pumpjacks moving up and down across the landscapes of the Permian Basin, the Eagle Ford Shale region and the Bakken Shale?  Made from steel.

The Dakota Access, Keystone XL, Colonial, Transco and every other oil or natural gas pipeline constructed anywhere on the face of the earth? Made from steel. Those massive deepwater platforms being fabricated at Ingleside, Texas?  Made almost entirely from steel. Those gigantic ships exporting crude oil out of Houston and Corpus Christi and LNG from Sabine Pass? Made from steel. Those oil refineries arrayed along refinery rows in New Orleans and Pittsburgh and Houston and Corpus? Made almost entirely of steel.

Just as natural gas and petroleum liquids are the fundamental feedstocks for an array of manufacturing processes in the U.S. and across the globe, steel is the fundamental, indispensable foundation of the oil and gas industry .  No steel, no oil, no gas.  It really is that simple.

So it should come as no surprise that, after President Donald Trump announced last Thursday that he would be imposing new tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum, industry representatives immediately began to voice concerns. I started to say “unexpectedly announced” in that previous sentence, but it also should not have surprised anyone that the President made that announcement. After all, he had promised on many occasions during his 2016 campaign that he would take this exact action, which he believes will create stronger steel and aluminum industries in the U.S.

As the oil and gas industry is well aware, this is a President who is very focused on keeping the promises he made throughout his campaign. Indeed, Trump spent a great deal of time and energy throughout 2017 following through on a broad array of actions he had promised to take that are quite positive for the industry: the rescission of a group of Obama-era regulations and executive orders the industry opposed; pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Accords; issuing executive orders restarting the stalled Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipeline projects, along with one rescinding the Obama Clean Power Plan; speeding up energy-related permitting processes at EPA, The Department of Interior and the Commerce Department;  Implementing a new 5-Year Plan that opens up vast new areas of federal waters to oil and gas leasing; and passing a tax bill that is hugely beneficial to the oil and gas industry.

The result of this rapid sea-change in energy policy has been to help stimulate investment in an industry that had spent 2015 and 2016 pulling in its sails to try to weather a perfect storm of low commodity prices and a flood of new regulations coming down from Washington, DC. It isn’t hard to understand that some in the industry thought this honeymoon might go on forever.
