Kirstjen Nielsen Resigns, and Nothing Much Will Change

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Nielsen’s out, and not much will change. – Kirstjen Nielsen became the fall guy for the ongoing fiasco at our southern border last night, to be replaced as Homeland Security Secretary by ex-Obama official Kevin McAleenan, who served as Deputy Secretary under the infamous Jeh Johnson.

So, what difference will the change in personnel make? Not much. The problem at the border is with the tragic state of our laws and politically-motivated court decisions issued by outlaw Obama judges. Until congress acts to change the laws – and this particular congress is not going to do so – the situation at the border cannot be resolved without the building of a wall. Even with a wall, it will remain near-impossible for the government to send invaders who manage to sneak into our country illegally back home unless the absurd loopholes in the asylum laws are changed. Simple as that.

So, the Democrats have “won” in this issue: They have succeeded in creating a situation of utter chaos on our border with Mexico, they have the literal invasion of our country they’ve worked for so many years to create, and no one in a position of power can do anything effective to stop it. This is the ultimate outcome of the Obama/Soros plan to “transform this country”, as Obama was so fond of saying throughout his presidency. And hey, they had plenty of help from Paul Ryan, John McCain, Mitch McConnell and the Republican majorities in both houses of congress, who did literally nothing on this issue during President Trump’s first two years in office.

A pox on all their houses.

This is the issue on which the 2020 presidential election will be decided. – The President can talk all he wants to about the booming economy and Democrats can talk all they want about Green New Deals and free stuff for everybody, but, just like it was in 2016, what to do about the ongoing invasion – and that is what it is – taking place from Texas to California will ultimately decide who gets to live in the White House starting in 2021.

President Trump understands this, which is why he decided last week to put off dealing with the healthcare issue until after the 2020 election has come and gone, choosing instead to keep his focus on border security and pounding his Democrat opponents for refusing to do anything to address it.

The winning strategy for Trump is obvious: Get as many miles of new border wall built as you can with all that Department of Defense money that’s been identified, and pound the Democrats on the issue every day. Keep them on the defensive for the next 18 months.

That leaves the Democrats with what they always try to do on this subject: Rank demagoguery and trying to change the subject.

Hey, thanks to the Paul Ryan/Mitt Romney/John McCain wing of the GOP, it’s worked for them so far.

Some campaign odd and ends:

How moribund is Elizabeth Warren’s campaign? Fauxcahontas is running a poor third in her home state of Massachusetts. That moribund. And look who’s about to catch her there: Pete Buttigieg. Ouch.

Speaking of moribund campaigns, how about Cory Booker’s? He announced he had raised $5 million during the first quarter of this year, which sounds like a decent number until you realize that Buttigieg, the little-known mayor of South Bend, Indiana, had raised $7 million. Yikes.

Bernie Sanders led the Q1 money race for the Dems, coming in at $18 million. Kamala Harris raised $12 million, while Irish Bob O’Rourke came in at $9.4 million, with most of that coming in March following his announcement in late February. Because he hasn’t formally announced, frontrunner Joe Biden had no fundraising numbers to release.

Meanwhile, President Trump raised $67.5 million, $26 million more than those five leading Democrats combined.

Oh.

That is all.

Congress Won’t Defend America’s Borders, So President Trump Will Do it for Them

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Tired of all this Winning yet?  Part I – President Donald Trump’s job approval rating in the Rasmussen Survey – the most accurate poll throughout the 2016 campaign season – rose again on Wednesday, to 51%.  On the same date in his first term in office, Barack Obama’s approval rating stood at 46%.  The new poll result caused enraged fake reporters and social justice warriors’ heads to explode across the country.

Tired of all this Winning yet?  Part II – The Trump economy continued to roar, with the ADP/Moody’s private sector survey of payrolls showing that 241,000 jobs were added in February, well above the expectation of 205,000.  The rapid creation of private sector jobs, along with the tax cuts taking effect in people’s paychecks, most likely has a lot to do with the President’s strong job approval.  Go figure.

Formerly amusing late-night comic Jimmy Kimmel used part of his monologue Wednesday night to mock First Lady Melania Trump’s accent, as he played a tape of her reading a book to children at the White House Easter Egg Roll.  No one could confirm whether or not the First Lady responded by calling him a simpleton in each and every one of the five languages that she speaks fluently, but she should have.

As the caravan of Honduran “refugees” began to dissolve south of Mexico City on Wednesday, President Trump signed an executive order sending national guard troops to patrol the Southern border, saying the action is necessary since congress refuses to act to change the country’s idiotic open borders immigration rules.

Following the signing, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told reporters that her department would be working with state officials in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California to activate and deploy the guard personnel and equipment that will be assigned to the border.  That was all expected.

What came next, though, was somewhat surprising to the fake journalists at the presser.  In response to a question about the President’s recent comments that he might use the military budget to fund the building of his long-promised border wall, Sec. Nielsen said:

“What [Trump] meant is there are some lands that the Defense Department owns right on the border where we see illicit activity,” Nielsen said during a White House press briefing. “We’re looking into options for the military to build wall or military installations on the border.”

And so it begins.  Isn’t it ironic that Pueblas sin Fronteras, the radical open borders group that organized the caravan of Hondurans, has in fact provided Mr. Trump the justifying event for deploying the National Guard to the border – thus providing the enhanced border security congress refuses to fund – and which in turn is going to provide the pretext for using part of the beefed-up military budget for constructing at least part of a border wall?  Because that’s exactly what has taken place here since the President first began tweeting about the caravan on Saturday.

If you still buy into the fake news media/Democrat narrative that the President just belches random stuff out onto his Twitter feed while eating ice cream in bed with no plan in mind, well, there’s really not much anyone can do for you, is there?

By the way, if you’re thinking this is all Mr. Trump is going to do related to taking executive action to enhance border security, you might want to hold that thought.  One of the aspects of illegal immigration policy that the President has complained about in recent days is the so-called “catch and release” policy.

Under this policy – which we can lay at the feet of George W. Bush and Karl Rove, who began it – illegal immigrants who are caught coming across the southern border are briefly held while their personal information is recorded by border officials, and then just released on their own recognizance while awaiting a hearing before an immigration judge.  Obviously, the vast majority of these folks simply vanish into the interior of the country and never show up for said hearing.

This policy is not a part of immigration law.  It was created via an executive order by former President Bush, and happily continued throughout the Obama years.  While Mr. Trump has repeatedly criticized the policy, he has not taken action to rescind the Bush order, or to formally issue guidance to border officials to halt its enforcement.

It isn’t being reported anywhere in the fake news media right now, but there are two main reasons why Mr. Trump has kept this policy in place:

  • Absent the creation of more immigration judges, the illegals currently being released into the general population will have to be held, probably for months, in detention centers, and congress has failed to provide additional funding for the creation of more such judges; and
  • While the Obama Administration did for a time hold hundreds of illegal immigrants in such detention centers along the border – centers that still exist – the media studiously ignored reporting on them.  In a Trump Administration, we can bet the fake news media would focus on such centers every day in an effort to portray them as modern-day concentration camps.

To this point, the President has no doubt been convinced by his advisors not to take any action on “catch and release” for these reasons.  But it is obvious that Mr. Trump is now fed up with the current status quo, and is going to act on his own to enhance the nation’s border security in pretty much any way he can.

You should expect Mr. Trump to formally rescind the Bush order in the coming days, and then prepare yourselves for all the “concentration camp” stories that will become ubiquitous on CNN and the broadcast networks in the following weeks and months.  Because that is what the fake news media does.

Just another day in no more open borders America.

That is all.
