The Week in Review: Democrats Gone Wild!

The Campaign Update Week in Review
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

[Editor’s Note: The Campaign Update will be silent from July 11 through July 23 because Dave needs some down time.]

It’s hard to imagine how the week just past could have gone any worse for America’s Democrat Party, i.e., the Party of Antifa, the Party of AOC, the Party of Socialism, the Party of open borders, the Party of Creepy Uncle Joe and The Commie and Fauxcahontas and rioting and flag-burning and lying fake news media and protesting celebrations of America’s Independence Day.

Seriously, when the three most lasting images of the week are of Antifa rioters assaulting dozens of innocent Americans in Portland and Washington, DC, leftist protesters burning the American flag on July 4, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lying relentlessly about things she did not actually see or do on a trip to the U.S./Mexico border, your party is having a week to forget.

The week began horribly for the Dems, as President Donald Trump made history by becoming the first U.S. president to walk across the DMZ into North Korea. Despite the best efforts of the media to suppress them, the images of that historic moment for peace went viral all over social media for the next several days. All grumpy Democrats could do was whine about the meeting somehow legitimizing the Crazy Little Fat Guy, but in reality, all that did in the public’s mind was make the Dems sound like a bunch of, well, grumps.

The early week festivities continued with Irish Bob O’Rourke, so desperate over his failure to attract votes in the United States, going across the border into Mexico to campaign instead. There, Mexican citizens no doubt made much fun of the freakish, arm-waving yankee.

Oh, but it just got better on the border, folks, much better – if you aren’t a Democrat, that is. Cory Spartacus Booker, seeing Irish Bob’s stunt as a challenge, decided it would be a great thing for him to go down to the border and break all sorts of U.S. laws by personally escorting illegal aliens into the United States. While Spartacus was no doubt duly impressed with his own self, few actual Americans noticed, and fewer still were similarly impressed.

Not to be outdone, AOC, partly participating in a tour of a detention facility in Clint, Texas with 13 fellow Democrat demagogues, caused an uproar, which is her only true core competency. She began screaming at U.S. Customs and Border Patrol personnel as soon as she entered the facility, then refused to participate in the tour, choosing instead to park herself in a holding area as the rest of the group went through the building. She then posted a series of abject lies on her Twitter feed, pretending to have actually toured the facility. Her supporters went nuts – which is also the only thing they’re any good at doing – and it took two days for the truth to actually filter out, by which time the actress AOC had moved on to her next performance.

AOC’s week ended with San Fran Nan throwing her under the bus in a fawining, softball interview with the terminally smarmy Maureen Dowd in the New York Times.

Oof.

Creepy Uncle Joe Biden spent the entire week clarifying, apologizing, and lashing out at his tormentors as he watched his standing in the various polls fade, as it inevitably must. By the end of the week, two separate polls had his once-grand 20+ point lead over the field sitting at just 2% ahead of the opportunistic Kamala Harris. Biden’s faithful army of fake media defenders were left only to brag about his “huge” fundraising haul of $21 million for the second quarter of the year, always forgetting to point out that President Trump raised $24 million in the first 24 hours after he formally announced his candidacy.

Ouch.

Then came July 4, and the wonderful celebration of America’s Independence planned and staged by your President, Donald J. Trump. The Dems and their media hacks had spent the entire week slamming the entire thing as just another Trump campaign event, but any American who actually watched the festivities and failed to be inspired by it is most likely, well, a Democrat. Everyone else thought it was wonderful.

While ordinary Americans were celebrating their wonderful nation, Democrats all across the country were burning flags and assaulting other Americans. Meanwhile, their presidential candidates, all of whom had spent the week slamming the President for presumably “politicizing” Independence Day, spent July 4th at campaign events where they slammed the President and politicized Independence Day.

You seriously can’t make this stuff up, folks.

There was a raft of great news for America and Americans this week, and great news for America and Americans was, as always, terrible news for the Democrat Party. The stock market reached new all-time highs during the week for about the 65,000th time in the Trump presidency, throwing Morning Joe and the editorial board at the New York Times into fits of depression.

Friday’s jobs report came in at a whopping 224,000, “shocking” all the “experts” who had all agreed it would only amount to about 165,000. All of this means that, despite the best efforts of Democrats and the fake news media to talk it down, the Trump economy just keeps rolling along, and the recession Democrats have been praying for remains nowhere in sight.

All the Dems in and out of the media got even more depressed Saturday night when the Washington Post and ABC were forced to reveal that the President’s rating in their fake poll had reached an all-time high.

By the end of the week, Democrats and their media toadies were so bereft of anything positive that they were left to panic about the rumor that the President may be considering replacing National Security Advisor John Bolton – a war hawk who these same Dems and media toadies have spent the last 15 years mercilessly vilifying – with someone who would favor getting the U.S. military out of the 18-year war in Afghanistan and Barack Obama’s misadventure in Syria.

Grumps, liars, extremists, and black-clad masked brutes: That is what the Democrat Party has become in 2019.

It’s not a good look, folks.

That is all.

It Was a Perfect Independence Day

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

We celebrated America yesterday and loved every minute of it.:  We started the day by driving in our big, gas-guzzling SUV over to the neighborhood where our daughter and her family live, which is populated mainly by young families who have moved to our smallish town to take advantage of the wonderful schools here.

Rather than go over to Arlington or Fort Worth or other larger nearby cities to take in the long parades taking place there, the families in this neighborhood arrange a July 4 parade of their own each year. I timed it, and from start to finish, it lasted a little over a minute.

And it was perfect: A collection 8 or 10 golf carts, some amazingly-well restored classic cars, and a bunch of little kids dressed up in red, white, and blue, riding their bikes and scooters and even a couple of hover boards, all of which were decorated in red, white and blue as well. They were waving flags and saying “God bless America” and all the parents and grandparents clapped and laughed and waved flags of their own as the little parade passed by. Perfect. America.

My son and his family were joining us for dinner, so after the parade, the little wifey, my daughter and I wandered over to the local Target, where the clerks all appear to know my daughter by sight. Ok, just kidding, but she is in there a lot. A really lot, as are pretty much all the other young mothers with young kids in our little town. Trust me, this Target will never go out of business. It is a big box retail powerhouse.

There, we picked up a rack of ribs, some sausage, a can of pork and beans, and what I needed to whip up my famous macaroni salad, so that we could engage in the American tradition of pigging out on Independence Day. Oh, and cupcakes – we picked up some cool red, white, and blue cupcakes too, because DB don’t bake on July 4th.

Our own home is a little bit out in the country, up on top  of a hill. When we moved here a few years ago, we were warned that the area where we live has more fireworks stands per capita than anywhere else on earth. After witnessing three July 4ths and three New Year’s Eves here, I don’t doubt that that warning was absolutely true.

The 180-degree view from our back patio takes in downtown Fort Worth, 15 miles distant, half of Arlington, and the surrounding area. All told, there are probably about 1.3 million residents in that viewing area. We don’t do fireworks ourselves, and we are clearly outliers in our region. At times, it looked like pretty much everyone else was putting on their own fireworks displays last night. The booms started at about 8:00, as some of the neighbors started to get a little impatient, and went on until well past midnight.

It was glorious. It was perfect. It was America.

Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., hundreds of thousands of patriotic Americans gathered to celebrate our nation’s declaration of independence from Great Britain 243 years ago on the National Mall. There, a sea of humanity stretched from the Lincoln Memorial all the way to the Washington Monument, half a mile distant, and beyond. There, they listened to patriotic music, singing unashamedly along with the songs, waving little flags of their own, watched a wonderful fireworks display, and were awed by several flyovers of military aircraft. They also heard President Donald Trump make a speech that celebrated the history and the future of our great nation, a speech that contained no political content. None.

In the days leading up to July 4, the President had been bashed endlessly by the same TV networks and cable channels who refused to televise this great patriotic celebration of our nation, for politicizing Independence Day. Which turned out to be just another pathetic lie perpetrated on the public by a politically-motivated media establishment that is run by left-wing political hacks.

Almost all of the Democrat presidential candidates spent the day in Iowa, holding political events, bashing the President, and politicizing the day. Because of course they did.

As those candidates awake this morning and view news coverage of the very non-political Celebration of America that took place in Washington, and the photos of that massive crowd of Americans, they would do well to recognized that there are tens of millions of Americans who would have loved to have been in the nation’s capital celebrating their country, too. And each and every one of those patriotic Americans are growing extremely weary of the anti-American crap the Democrats are pushing.

Those millions of Americans heard the following words from their President last night, and they loved these words and believe them:

“We will always be the people who defeated a tyrant, crossed a continent, harnessed science, took to the skies, and soared into the heavens. Because we will never forget that we are Americans and the future belongs to us. The future belongs to the brave, the strong, the proud and the free.

We are one people chasing one dream and one magnificent destiny. We all share the same heroes, the same home, the same heart, and we are all made by the same almighty God. From the banks of the Chesapeake to the cliffs of California, from the humming shores of the Great Lakes to the sand dunes of the Carolinas, from the fields of the heartland to the Everglades of Florida, the spirit of American independence will never fade, never fail, but will reign for ever and ever and ever.”

Those tens of millions of Americans who love these words and believe these words will all be voting to re-elect the President who spoke them.

God Bless America.

That is all.

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

The Campaign Update wishes you all a very happy Independence Day!

Tired of all this Winning yet?:  Wal-Mart was discovered to be hawking t-shirts with the slogan “Impeach 45” at its online marketing website, an incredibly bone-headed move by a retailer whose business is largely focused out here in Flyover Country.  Enterprising folks on social media responded yesterday morning by calling for a boycott of the company.  Within hours, management at Wal-Mart announced it was removing the social justice warrior gear from its digital shelves.

#Winning.

Yeah, this probably isn’t going to end well. – In its ongoing efforts to destroy any notion of ethical standards within its operations, management at the fake New York Times announced on Tuesday that Ali Watkins, the reporter who was sleeping with at least two sources on the corrupt Senate Intelligence Committee, has been “reassigned” rather than fired as any organization with any pride would have done weeks ago.

In making this announcement, despicable Times executive editor Dean Baquet said this:

“We are troubled by Ali’s conduct, particularly while she was employed by other news organizations,” said Times executive editor Dean Baquet in an internal memo on Tuesday. “For a reporter to have an intimate relationship with someone he or she covers is unacceptable. It violates our written standards and the norms of journalism.  After careful examination and discussion, I have decided to reassign her to a position in New York for a fresh start, where she will be closely supervised and have a senior mentor.

Given Watkins’ promiscuous past, there are two possible outcomes here:  1) she will soon be involved in an affair with this “senior mentor,” or 2) we will soon see news that this “senior mentor” has been accused of sexual harassment.

Uh, hey, Tom, we know you think that, we agree it’s true, but, uh, we’re not supposed to actually say it in public, mm-kay? – Marxist Democrat National Committee Chairman Tom Perez, in a radio interview on Tuesday, just couldn’t contain his excitement when when host Bill Press asked about last week’s primary victory for a New York congressional seat by 28 year-old socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

“I have three kids. two of them are daughters. One just graduated college, one who is in college — and they were both texting me about their excitement over Alexandria because she really — she represents the future of our party.”

As always, it’s real news whenever any Democrat leader accidentally admits his or her party is actually just America’s version of the Bolsheviks.

Speaking of stumbling across the truth, Microsoft founder Bill Gates had that experience on Monday when speaking at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C.:

“How long people live, the reduction of disease… this period since World War II has been unbelievable – the reduction in violence, the improvement in literacy, the improvement of health is phenomenal,” he said.

“By almost any metric, the world is a far better place today – less violent deaths, less disease, more education – than ever in its history…The world, he said, is “100 times less violent than it was 1,000 years ago – that is, the percentage of deaths that are violent is down dramatically…So if someone has a very negative view of the world, that’s simply not an objective thing.”

Quick, somebody get him over to CNN headquarters to spread that message, since everyone there apparently wakes up each morning believing the world is actually going to hell in a hand basket.

On this special day, if you want to thank the people who are largely responsible for setting the world on its happy course towards the freedom and prosperity that make it a better place to be, give a word of thanks to these 56 men:

John Hancock (president of the Continental Congress), Josiah Bartlett, William Whipple, Matthew Thornton, Samuel Adams, John Adams, Robert Treat Paine, Elbridge Gerry, Stephen Hopkins, William Ellery, Roger Sherman, Samuel Huntington, William Williams, Oliver Wolcott, William Floyd, Philip Livingston, Francis Lewis, Lewis Morris, Richard Stockton, John Witherspoon, Francis Hopkinson, John Hart, Abraham Clark, Robert Morris, Benjamin Rush, Benjamin Franklin, John Morton, George Clymer, James Smith, George Taylor, James Wilson, George Ross, Caesar Rodney, George Read, Thomas McKean, Samuel Chase, William Paca, Thomas Stone, Charles Carroll of Carrollton, George Wythe, Richard Henry Lee, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Harrison, Thomas Nelson, Jr., Francis Lightfoot Lee, Carter Braxton, William Hooper, Joseph Hewes, John Penn, Edward Rutledge, Thomas Heyward, Jr., Thomas Lynch, Jr., Arthur Middleton, Button Gwinnett, Lyman Hall, and George Walton.

These men were committing treason when they became the signatories to the Declaration of Independence.  They did so under the full knowledge and certainty that King George would literally cut off their heads if given the chance.  They risked life, limbs and family in the hopes of freeing themselves and their land from the chains of oppression and creating a new and better nation, a nation where liberty and justice would reign in place of undeserving brutes who reigned by some stupid notion of ‘divine rights.”

So, fly your flag, sing the Star Spangled Banner, cook your hot dogs and watch your local fireworks displays, but most of all, take a moment to thank these 56 men who risked everything to give you the freedom to do all those things with your friends and families today.  Because without them, Bill Gates would have given an entirely different speech on Monday.

God Bless America.

That is all.
