The Corona Panic Porn Just Never Ends

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a despicable Democrat, tanked a major stock rally today by announcing he was re-closing his state. Newsom attributes his latest irrational, probably illegal action to his state’s rising number of “cases” of COVID-19, a number everyone knows is vastly inflated and fraudulent.

As Newsom takes this action motivated solely by politics, the folks at the Daily Caller thought it was important to remind readers what was taking place in Los Angeles a month ago, because Newsom says this is still ok.:

Oh. Any questions?

Meanwhile, in other COVID-19 news… – Alex Berenson has an important CORONAPANIC UPDATE from Florida:

Oh.

Remember the goal in Florida is to inflate the numbers so high that they justify cancelling the GOP National Convention. So, expect them to go much, much higher in the next 2-3 weeks.

And a fair warning from @EthicalSkeptic about the flood of “new” deaths to come, as states that have withheld that data will now start claiming it is all “covid-related” to keep the panic going:

Despicable.

But none of this fits the narrative, so, carry on.

That is all.

Thursday News Roundup: The COVID-19 Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves

The beatings will continue until morale improves. – California Governor Gavin Newsom re-implemented lockdown orders yesterday in 19 of the state’s most populous counties, as reported by Fox News:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a new round of lockdown measures Wednesday, ordering 19 counties to close all indoor operations for several business sectors, including restaurants, as the state grapples with a resurgence of coronavirus cases.

In addition to bars being forced to shut down temporarily, restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, family entertainment venues, zoos, museums and cardrooms must halt operations in selected communities, Newsom said Wednesday.

Businesses can continue to operate if they can move operations outdoors.

“This doesn’t mean restaurants are shut down,” Newsom, a Democrat, said at a briefing. “It means that we’re trying to take the activities, as many activities as we can — these mixed activities, these concentrated activities — and move them outdoors, which is a way of mitigating the spread of this virus.”

The list of affected counties ran up and down the state: Contra Costa, Fresno, Glenn, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Merced, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Tulare and Ventura counties.

[End]

So, thousands more businesses hampered beyond profitability or lost completely, tens of thousands more Californians back to the unemployment roles, all in a re-try of a strategy that has already been proven to be utterly ineffective.

And that’s not all:

Beaches in Los Angeles County, along with piers and bicycle paths, will close beginning Friday through Monday in an effort to prevent a repeat of Memorial Day weekend when large crowds gathered in close proximity and largely ignored safety measures.

All parking facilities at state beaches in Southern California and the Bay Area will also be closed for the upcoming weekend. The closures reverse the reopening process that began weeks ago after months of unprecedented lockdowns.

The state first began to “toggle back” reopenings over the weekend when it ordered bar closures in seven counties that are seeing increases in infections.

Ahead of the holiday weekend, the governor has voiced concerns about people gathering with friends and family, which he said could lead to complacency and more virus transmissions. He is also urging municipalities to rethink firework displays.

[End]

Ok, so no gathering with friends and family? But what about all those riots and protests and demonstrations by the Antifa/BLM domestic terrorist arm of the Democrat Party?

Oh, hey, those are fine:

Well of course they are. Allowing this dichotomy of government action to continue to go on is inhumanly depraved. People can’t go to church, can’t attend movies, can’t hug their grandparents, can’t let their children play in a park or on a beach without the Democrat governor or mayor sending in the police. But let 5,000 potential rioters pack themselves tightly into a public space for a few hours to chant obscene slogans advocating de-funding and murdering police officers, and the governors and mayors can’t be bothered to lift a finger.

You just could never make this stuff up, folks, not in a million bazillion years.

Meanwhile, in Texas, a different kind of protest action rose up. – Taking a cue from the leftists at Antifa/BLM, a Kilgore bar owner organized what he calls the “Bar Lives Matter” protest against the orders of Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Wednesday:

Austin, Texas protest lockdown bars

From a story at the New York Post:

Bar owners in Texas staged a protest in reaction to the state’s order to shut them down for a second time due to the coronavirus, reports said.

Tee Allen Parker, owner of the Machine Shed Bar and Grille, named Tuesday’s event “Bar Lives Matter” in an apparent reference to the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality.

Parker, whose establishment is in Kilgore, Texas, roughly two hours south of Dallas, is already suing Texas Gov. Greg Abbot over the bar closures — which he claims are devastating his livelihood and forcing many of his peers into bankruptcy, according to CBS Austin.

“This one individual is picking and choosing winners and losers,” Jared Woodfill, an attorney for Parker, told the outlet. “Gov. Abbott has chosen to sentence bar owners to bankruptcy.”

As a part of its most recent coronavirus order, Texas did not close down or limit capacity at other businesses — like hair salons, tattoo parlors, and nail studios. The order did require restaurants to operate at 50 percent capacity.

“You can’t tell me that my tiny little bar is the problem. He’s the problem,” Parker previously told the Washington Post. “He’s targeting us, and it’s discrimination.”

[End]

I have been an off-and-on fan of Gov. Abbott, but it is very hard to argue with Parker’s statement that the Governor and his “Strike Force” of advisors, not the bars, are the real problem. Just like Newsom, Gov. Abbott has done next-to-nothing to crack down on the massive demonstrations and protest actions that include no social distancing and very little mask-wearing that happened in Texas’s major cities during June. Similarly, Abbott continues to do next-to-nothing to educate the Texas public about the massive fraud the state’s hospitals are committing in their reporting of new “cases” in their craven efforts to grab as much federal money as possible.

To single out bars amid all of the other establishments at which Texans congregate closely in groups is obviously discriminatory and very likely violates both the U.S. and Texas constitutions. From April through June, it was easy to pound solely on Democrat governors for their depravity in the face of this viral gift from China, but Abbott and Arizona’s Mike Ducey are making it very difficult to continue drawing that distinction.

Better temper that optimism over a Wuhan Virus “vaccine.” – Stocks all over the world rose overnight and the U.S. markets are poised for a big opening today due to optimistic news regarding the development of several COVID-19 vaccines.

From a Reuters story:

NEW YORK, July 1 (Reuters) – U.S. stocks moved higher on Wednesday as rising hopes of a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine eased concerns another round of lockdowns was likely following a record surge in coronavirus cases in the United States.

Pfizer Inc’s shares rose nearly 5% after the drugmaker said a COVID-19 vaccine being developed with German biotech firm BioNTech showed promise and was found to be well-tolerated in early-stage human trials.

The gains made Pfizer shares one of the top boosts to both the S&P 500 and Dow Industrials while U.S.-listed shares of BioNTech gained more than 8%, helping improve the mood on Wall Street after the United States registered 47,000 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the biggest one-day spike since the start of the pandemic.

Investors were also encouraged by some upbeat economic data as coronavirus-induced lockdowns have eased. A report on Wednesday showed a slump in global manufacturing had ebbed in June, with U.S. figures hitting their highest level in more than a year.

[End]

That all sounds great, right? Trouble is, the day before we saw this announcement largely ignored by our corrupt news media:

Do you understand what that’s telling you? It’s telling you that the FDA is planning to refer to any medical treatment that produces 50% better results than a damn sugar pill as a “vaccine.” What exactly is 50% better than zero?

So, if you still labor under the illusion that Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates are going to ride to the rescue this coming winter with a miracle cure for the Wuhan Virus, you are in for one enormous disappointment.

That’s not going to happen.

Our country must do the same thing with COVID-19 that we have done with every previous flu strain: Learn to live with it. Protect the most vulnerable, practice common sense safety measures and effectively treat those who become ill. All of this other stuff and fear porn flying around in the public domain thanks mainly to Fauci, our main current national menace, is just so much nonsense designed frighten you into submission.

We are in a very dangerous place at the moment. Be careful out there.

That is all.

Larry Schweikart: Democrats Push the Panic-Porn Button

Guest Contribution by America’s History Teacher, Larry Schweikart

As the Democrat governors lose the narrative of the China Virus—and also lose control of their states, they have ratcheted up the panic-porn to new levels. Hoax News reporters harangue President Donald Trump about not wearing a mask, then about taking hydroxychloroquine, then about whether he would shut down the country if the China Virus numbers suddenly rise again.

His answers? “No, I won’t wear a mask,” “I’ve been taking hydroxycholoroquine for two weeks,” and “No, I won’t shut the country down again.”

Bravo.

It’s clear none of this has anything whatsoever to do with a flu and everything to do with damaging the U.S. economy enough to keep Trump from getting massively reelected. After all, they did it once before . . . sort of. In early October, 2016, as Joel Pollak and I revealed in our book How Trump Won, the Trump team was circulating internal polls that were shockingly good for The Donald. How good? They had him within the margin of error in Illinois, Rhode Island, and Oregon. They had him even in Minnesota (which, as it turned out, was the case).

I am convinced that Hillary Clinton’s team was reading the same tea leaves, and had to do anything to stop the momentum. I believe that is why they rolled out the “Access Hollywood” tape so early. It did have a damaging, but quite temporary, effect on the Trump team. But by election day, the impact had faded, and while Trump did not carry Oregon, or Rhode Island, or Illinois, he did shock the pundits by winning perennial teaser states for the GOP like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, and came reasonably close to winning Virginia and within a hair of winning New Hampshire. This suggests that early internal polling had some merit.

The point is, “Access Hollywood” was a last-minute, desperate brake on Trump’s momentum. While the Democrats didn’t introduce the China Virus to the U.S.—China did—they reveled in an opportunity to again put a brake on Trumpmentum. One can look at polls from the same Hoax Pollsters who gave us a Hillary landslide in 2016, or who missed Wisconsin by an average of six points, or who missed the Ron DeSantis/Rick Scott/Josh Hawley/Mike Braun elections in 2018. Those same Hoax Pollsters say that Joe (I’m hidin’) Biden, who hasn’t appeared in public at a live event in nearly two months, is somehow leading President Trump.

If you buy that, then you likely have the Las Vegas Raiders winning the Super Bowl this year, too.
What the draconian lockdowns by the blue-state governors, particularly Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan, J. B. Pritzker in Illinois, Gavin Newsom in California, and Andrew Cuomo in New York have done is to finally . . . finally . . . chip away at the remaining Democrat base. Already—and the Democrats, deep in their evil hovels of voter analysis know this—Trump has been eroding the black vote and has been actually building quite a bit of Hispanic support. Most polls put Trump’s black approval at between 16% and 22%.

Blacks, and even black conservatives, are quick to insist that Trump won’t get that much of the actual black vote, and they are right. He doesn’t need to. He’ll get between 12-13% actual vote, but add to that another 3-5% of black voters who will stay home. That is a death sentence for the Democrats. That alone would put Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida, and North Carolina in Trump’s column. But when you add that to his up to 47% (in some polls) Hispanic support, and combine that with the outrage in the suburban areas of Virginia, Minnesota, Colorado, and other states enduring a lockdown, Trump’s electoral college numbers are poised to soar.

These last two weeks we had two good tests of the public mood on the lockdowns. A Republican held the WI7 seat largely on the basis of winning mail-in ballots, and not just absentees! In California, Mike Garcia flipped the seat previously held by Katie (The Fuller Brush Girl) Hill, who had resigned. Garcia won by nine, and most surprising of all, continued to break even in the days after the election when Democrat “vote harvesting” often produces surprises. Then, in Staughton, Virginia, Republicans flipped three out of three city assembly seats in a district that went for Barack Obama twice. The issues? Guns and the lockdown.

When you add to this the fact that Governor Cuomo literally sentenced old people to death by sending China-Virus-infected old people back to nursing homes, I think you’ll start to see a serious boil here by election time. The last hope was to somehow perpetuate the panic through the virtue-signaling wearing of masks (of dubious effectiveness, as admitted even by St. Fauci). It ain’t happenin’. The red states that opened, such as Georgia and Florida, have lower rates of the China Virus now. Remarkable what sunlight and herd immunity will do to the flu.

As for Trump? He will be the beneficiary of not only creating one, but two great economies by election time, while simultaneously overcoming the China Virus. The Democrats couldn’t help themselves. They pushed the Panic Porn Button too soon.

Monday News Roundup: Rand Paul is Done With Fauci and Cuomo Scurries for Cover

The Mid-Day Campaign Update

“My fellow Republican senators have tried to see things from the Speaker’s point of view, but we can’t get our heads that far up our rear ends.” – Louisiana Senator John Kennedy on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo just now, talking about Pelosi’s $3 trillion “stimulus bill” atrocity.

Oops, he did it again. – Remember how serial alarmist Anthony Fauci warned that we would see a spike in Wuhan Virus cases in states that opened up their economies early? Yeah, that’s not happening, according to HHS Secretary Alex Azar. Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” program with Snake Jake Tapper, Azar had this to say about that:

“We are seeing that in areas that are opening, we’re not seeing the spike in cases. We still see spikes in some areas that are, in fact, closed, very localized situations. And so this is going to be very important for us to watch the circumstances on the ground. With reopening, what’s the key to reopening?”

Thus, as with every other prediction Fauci has made related to this Chinese plague over the past four months, he turns out to have been wrong. When are we going to quit listening to this guy?

Rand Paul is certainly grown weary of Fauci’s faulty advice. – In a weekend interview with NewsMax TV’s Greg Kelly, Senator Paul had this to say about Fauci’s contention that we need to keep schools closed through the fall semester:

“The future is difficult and we shouldn’t assume that one guy with a Ph.D. or an M.D. knows everything about the future,” he said.

“Every school was closed and not one kid was sick in Kentucky. Is that an overreach? I don’t know,” Paul added. “We have 600,000 people out of work in Kentucky now. We’ve got devastating numbers where we’re gonna bankrupt the state again on unemployment, even though we’ve given $3 trillion out.

“There’s not enough money in China, there’s not enough money to be printed at the Federal Reserve. We’ve gotta open the economy and we have to be reasonable about this. We can’t wait for perfection. That’s my gripe with Dr. Fauci. Not that he’s a disingenuous person or he doesn’t have the right motives. I think he does. I think he wants what’s best for the country. But so do I, and we have to have a debate over whether we keep the economy closed. I don’t think it can go on forever.”

[End]

Senator Paul is right.

Perfect example of how Democrats behave in the face of adversity. – Fascist California Governor Gavin Newsom is being quoted today by The Hill as promising that first reponders “will be the first ones laid off by cities and counties” if congress doesn’t provide a bailout for blue states like California that have been mismanaged by Democrats for decades and now find themselves on the brink of bankruptcy.

There are literally hundreds of budget items in any city or county government that can be cut instead of laying off first responders. But Democrat mayors, city councils and county governments invariably, without fail, resort to laying off law enforcement and firefighters first any time spending must be addressed. They do this for two reasons: 1) because fighting fires and crime are their lowest personal priorities, and 2) in order to make the process of cutting a budget as painful as possible on the community they govern.

In making his promise to The Hill, Newsom is simply following the standard Democrat playbook.

Speaking of thuggish Democrat governors, Fox has a really good report detailing the fact that several of them are now facing a string of lawsuits challenging their clearly unconstitutional orders. Newsom alone is facing at least a dozen such suits.

And it isn’t just Democrat mayors who are being challenged. Buried way down in this piece is a paragraph discussing the fact that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is threatening to file actions against several big-city Democrat mayors and county judges over their 0wn efforts to enforce public restrictions that exceed those issued by Governor Greg Abbott. Abbott will hold a press conference Monday afternoon outlining his own plans for moving forward, and I’m told he will address this matter during that conference.

Meanwhile, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is coming under fire for his Sunday comments about thousands of elderly citizens dying in his state’s nursing homes.:

“We worked it out so we always had available beds. Nobody was deprived of a bed or medical coverage in any way. And still people died. Still people died. Older people, vulnerable people are going to die from this virus. That is going to happen, despite whatever you do.”

Prior to that passage, Cuomo had defended his decision in March to force his state’s nursing homes to admit infected patients, an action that no doubt resulted in thousands of other elderly patients in those homes contracting COVID-19 and dying. In defending his decision, Cuomo said no one is to blame, and “no one should go to jail” for having caused those deaths.

How to react to this? Well, first, try to imagine the uproar you would be hearing today had President Trump issued the order that Cuomo issued. The cacophony would be overwhelming, and we would already have impeachment proceedings taking place in the House of Representatives.

But because Cuomo is a protected Democrat, the corrupt, mainstream media is essentially silent on this matter, and has been for weeks as the scandal has percolated.

But second, note that Cuomo is to some extent correct here. Older people, vulnerable people with underlying health conditions, are most at-risk from this virus, and are going to die from it. Note also that, according to the Dept. of Health and Human Services, the average remaining life span of an elderly person admitted into a nursing home in this country is a stunning 5 months. Thus, many of the thousands of New York nursing home residents whose deaths have counted as COVID-19 would have died in any event, and a high percentage of them really died from another cause.

That having been said, all of that reality ultimately condemn’s Cuomo’s approach to the matter. The proper response to this virus in the first place would have been to focus resources on protecting nursing home patients and others among the most vulnerable. That’s what governors like Florida’s Ron DeSantis and other Republicans did, and their states have not experienced anything like the problems in nursing homes that New York has seen.

Instead, Cuomo shut down his entire state, depriving millions of jobs and shutting down hundreds of thousands of businesses that will never come back. Even worse, he actively ordered infected patients to be embedded among the most vulnerable of all in his state’s nursing homes.

Cuomo’s rationalizations notwithstanding, someone is responsible. If he wants to know who, he should look in a mirror.

That is all.

The Motivations Behind the Fascist Democrat Governors and Mayors

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Today, we’re going to talk about what motivates these budding fascist mayors, county judges and governors, almost all of whom also happen to be Democrats. After all, they aren’t taking the actions they are taking against the unlucky people in their jurisdictions in a vacuum. These are all politicians, and politicians all have pressures that motivate them to act in certain ways.

To set this up, let’s first refer to a great piece over at RedState.com that was referred to me yesterday by a friend. The writer, Mike Ford, goes through many of the facts I’ve written about here regarding how Drs. Fauci, Birx and their disastrously wrong statistical model have basically run our country for the last 3 months, and destroyed our economy in the process. The results have been catastrophic, have essentially destroyed the greatest economy on the face of the earth, and none of it needed to happen.

Here is an excerpt from the summary section of that piece:

Basically, the governors and mayors with the encouragement of the federal government denied the civil rights of broad swaths of the American citizenry. They abridged the right to earn a living on the unproven chance that it might save a stranger’s life. What’s worse, it wasn’t like we demanded that all of America make this sacrifice. No. We actually forced the weakest (financially) among us to carry this load. Interestingly, I find anecdotally that the folks most interested in keeping this shutdown in place until we are “perfectly safe,” aren’t the hourly wage, service industry workers who have been forced to shoulder almost this entire burden. Nope. It’s the “essential workers,” people whose occupation allows telecommuting, the media, and, of course, folks on government salaries.

Mind you, none of the above was done via legislative action, which might have made it somewhat more palatable. It was all done via executive orders, big and small. As new data comes in, we are seeing that all of this had little-to-no effect on the spread of the virus nor the number of fatalities. We trampled on the Constitution, destroyed our economy, and wrecked the lives of millions of Americans…for nothing. And we aren’t done yet.

[End]

Now, let’s look at the chart below, which was published by England’s Office of National Statistics last week:

No photo description available.

The chart is easy to understand: It shows the average mortality rate per 100,000 by age group. It is the single most compelling piece of information I have seen anywhere about the Wuhan Virus. This chart and this chart alone proves the case Mr. Ford makes in his piece at RedState.

Put simply, this chart conclusively demonstrates that this virus is a disease that kills almost no one under the age of 55. Yes, young people do contract the virus and a handful have died from its effects. Those deaths of young people have of course been massively trumpeted by your corrupt news media as a means of supporting the Democrat goal of keeping the shutdown in place, but they have been few and far between.

This data clearly shows that the intelligent way to have gone about dealing with this virus would have been to ask older people to self-quarantine and to allow anyone under the age of 55 to keep living their lives and more rapidly building a national herd immunity to this plague that will ultimately come about anyway. Had everyone just taken the example of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose very first act was to start working to protect elderly folks inside his state’s nursing homes, a huge portion of these deaths would have been avoided.

Instead, our government told tens of millions of young Americans – the vast majority of them in the lower-middle to lower classes in terms of income – that their jobs and businesses were “non-essential” and forced them onto the government dole. And now we have this ruling class of banana republic governors, mayors and county judges doing everything they can, not to reopen their economies and put people back to work, but to extend the pain out for as long as they can get away with.

In my weekly radio appearance with host Gregg Budell on FM 93.1 WACV in Montgomery, AL yesterday, we talked about what it is exactly that motivates these Democrat politicians to act in this way. To understand that, you have to first understand how the Democrat political mind in the 21st century works, which I talked about in yesterday’s Campaign Update, “The Real Reason Why Pelosi Won’t Call the House Back Into Session.”

Here’s an excerpt from that piece:

But Democrats are different – make no mistake about it. They don’t care about people dying or 30 million Americans having been put out of jobs; all they care about is politics. After all, the Wuhan Virus is killing mainly old people, and old people happen to be mostly Republican voters. Democrats like Pelosi and Schumer see this and their only thought is that man, this could really tilt a few congressional races in November if enough old people die in the right districts.

Those 30 million additional unemployed? To your typical Democrat politician, their only thought is that that is one huge target-rich environment of potential Democrat voters. If they can just keep enough of those 30 million on unemployment until November it could be an electoral gold mine.

[End]

Once you understand that and accept it, then you need to look and identify who funds Democrat campaigns in this country today, and the voting constituencies that put them into office in the first place.

Who funds Democrats these days? That’s easy: Billionaires like George Soros, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and the rest of the very wealth, globalist class in this country; the radical environmentalist community; government workers; and labor unions, in that descending order. Make no mistake about it, the Democrat Party – not the GOP as the corrupt media still likes to claim – is the party of the very wealthy, globalist class in this country and their FEC filings clearly prove that fact. The radical environmentalists – the Party’s other major funder – are thrilled to death with all of this economic carnage, since it is what their Green New Deal would implement, anyway, and hey, our carbon footprint is so much lower! Seriously, do not doubt me on this.

So, we know who funds the campaigns; now, let’s look at a few examples of the constituencies these aspiring tinpot dictators are trying to please.

Virginia Governor Ralph “Coonman” Northam is a great and easy example here. Northam governs what is by and large a very rural state that has two major population centers that vote overwhelmingly Democrat: Richmond, and the Alexandria/Arlington metro area. Those rural areas of the state have been barely impacted by this Chinese plague, but they vote overwhelmingly Republican, and Northam couldn’t care less what the people in those counties need or think.

The capital city of Richmond, on the other hand, has two huge Democrat voter blocs: Government workers and folks who were already on the government dole before anyone had ever heard of the Wuhan Virus. The government workers are all still getting paid, so they’re happy to have this extended vacation as long as Gov. Coonman wants to give it to them. The folks who are used to living on the government dole haven’t really been impacted, so what do they care?

The Alexandria/Arlington area is now overrun with federal government workers thanks to the vast expansion of the federal workforce during the Obama years, and they have the same story: They’re all getting paid to “work from home,” which for many means sitting on their butts playing video games, so they’re all fat and happy like the state government workers in Richmond.

Thus, at the end of the day, Northam looks around and sees he still has his cash flow in place, and his voters are all perfectly happy sitting at home doing nothing, so there is no price to be paid for just extending these draconian orders out for as long as possible.

In Michigan, Generalissimo Gretchen Whitmer has much the same motivating factors in place: She’s just trying please her Party’s natural constituencies in cities like Detroit, Lansing and other metro centers.

In Oregon, Governor Kate Brown is just trying to please her natural constituencies that largely lie along the Interstate 5 corridor.

The exact same logic and formula applies in states like New York, New Jersey and California, and even in cities in Red states like Dallas and Houston in Texas, where Democrat County Judges Clay Jenkins and Lina Hidalgo have gone completely mad with power.

This really is the truth, folks. Decades of focusing on identity politics above all other considerations really has completely warped the Democrat mind in our country, and in fact makes that party the single biggest danger to the country’s ultimate survival.

They aren’t motivated by what is best for the country as a whole – that arcane subject never even enters their minds. They are motivated by two things and two things only: Money, and power, and how to obtain and maintain both.

And so, here we are.

That is all.

Gov. Abbott: Texans Can Get a Haircut on Friday! Yee-hah!

The Evening Campaign Update

Yeeee-hah!!!! – In a press conference held Tuesday afternoon, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that a raft of additional businesses are fixin’ to be allowed to reopen on Friday, May 8. Those businesses include barbers, hair salons, cosmetologists and tanning salons. He also announced that gyms will be able to reopen on May 18, albeit at 25% capacity.

Excerpt from a report at the Texas Tribune website:

The businesses will be required to follow certain rules as the state continues to grapple with the coronavirus. Hairstylists will be able to work with only one customer at a time. People waiting in barber shops will have to maintain 6-foot separation or wait outside.

Meanwhile, gyms will be required to operate at a maximum of 25% of capacity. Showers and locker rooms will be closed, and equipment must be disinfected after each use.

Abbott acknowledged people may want to see another type of business reopen — bars — but said the state is still figuring out how they can do so safely and did not offer a timetable.

[End]

Finally, I’ll be able to go get my shaggy head trimmed up!

Of note, Governor Abbott’s announcement comes one day after Virginia Governor Ralph KKK Northam extended his own lockdown order through May 16. It also comes as Democrat governors in California, Michigan and Oregon, and Republicans in Alabama and Ohio are finding themselves under increasing pressure to relent on their own draconian orders.

In California, a city councilman has personally sued Gov. Newsom over his idiotic beach-closing order:

Newport Beach City Councilman Kevin Muldoon personally sued Gov. Gavin Newsom in federal court Monday over Newsom’s beach closures targeting Orange County.

Muldoon, a vocal proponent of lifting the weeks-long lockdown imposed to stem the coronavirus pandemic, filed the suit on his own behalf and was footing his own legal costs, he said. He called Newsom’s directive, handed down Thursday and put into effect the next day, unconstitutional.

Newsom’s order applies only toOrange County. A reopening date is unclear.

“Defendants have shown by their actions a willingness to ignore and to violate the fundamental civil rights of California residents,” the lawsuit reads. “Their actions … are persistent and capable of repetition unless they are enjoined by this court.”

[End]

In Michigan, the Detroit News published an editorial by its editorial board condemning Generalissimo Gretchen Whitmer for her rampant abuse of power and and endorsing the legislature’s decision to file a lawsuit against her:

Whitmer is attempting to assign a noble purpose for her unilateral power grab, saying she needed to continue her emergency powers to protect health care workers from being sued by COVID-19 patients.

But the Legislature Thursday approved a bill that would enshrine that immunity in law, proving lawmakers are capable of working with the governor to protect Michigan.

They had offered to grant her another short-term extension of her powers, with oversight. But she refused to accept any conditions that forced her to collaborate with lawmakers.

The Republican-controlled Legislature Thursday also passed resolutions authorizing the speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader to sue the governor.

That lawsuit should be filed ASAP.

From the beginning of her tenure, Whitmer has show disdain for both the law and regular-order governing, looking for every loophole to avoid dealing with the Legislature.

This time, she’s taken the state to a very dangerous place.

There’s no reasonable defense, in a representative democracy, for a governor to strip the legislative branch of its constitutional authority and assume dictatorial powers in perpetuity.

[End]

In Oregon, radical Alinskyite Governor Kate Brown eased some of her own abusive restrictions after coming under intense pressure in recent days:

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has announced a limited opening of some state parks, outdoor recreation facilities, and other areas for day use in a partial easing of restrictions put in place because of the coronavirus.

Officials say day-use will slowly return to other state parks starting next week. The popular Columbia River Gorge parks and recreation areas and coastal areas will remain closed for now. Brown says Oregonians should recreate responsibly.

[End]

What all of this is teaching us is something most Texans have known for all of our lives: We are damned lucky to live in the Lone Star State.

Thank you, Governor Abbott, and God Bless Texas.

That is all.

Fascism: Democrat Fascists Double-Down in CA, IL and MI

The Mid-Day Campaign Update

Make no mistake about this: You are now being conditioned by Democrats and their corrupt toadies in the U.S. news media to accept fascism in your lives and to demean anyone who dares protest the irrational, brutish edicts coming down from Democrat governors and mayors as dangerous racists who want to kill you.

Check out this report from California yesterday. There, Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, who on Friday shut down all of the beaches and state parks in his domain, on Saturday surrounded the state Capitol building with police fully-armored in riot gear to deal with a peaceful assembly of several thousand citizens. As the report linked above points, out, the cops arrested 31 of these protesters, most of them for not observing the Governor’s “social distancing” edicts:

‘Freedom’ protest against coronavirus orders leads to arrests at California Capitol

They came with babies strapped to their chests, flags waving and even a speedboat parked at the curb to symbolize California’s closed beaches.

Hundreds of people — likely more than 1,000 — crowded around the California State Capitol on Friday to protest Gov. Gavin Newsom’s social distancing orders amid a pandemic that has now killed more than 2,000 Californians.

With nary a mask in sight, protesters called Newsom a tyrant and showed their support for President Trump, evidenced by Trump 2020 gear everywhere, including for sale. But despite the president’s back-and-forth support of social distancing, most were quick to absolve him of their anger over current conditions in the Golden State.

Susan Dorrity, a retired mortgage broker from Modesto, said the president was smart to leave decisions about closures to governors.

[End]

So, right there in the first 4 paragraphs, your corrupt media treats you to a slanted headline that sneers at the word “freedom,” implies that the protesters are responsible for the 2,000 dead in California due to the Wuhan Virus, and smears the President of the United States. All that and more, in about 100 words. That’s very efficient brainwashing right there.

So, ‘freedom’ is not only bad, it’s deadly, and anyone who blames the situation in California on the Governor and his abusive edicts and not the President needs to be retrained. Got it?

As the guys at The Conservative Treehouse reported, the police who spent their day enforcing the Governor’s social distancing edict then went to the nearest officially-closed-by-edict public park and did this:

Oh.

Meanwhile, over at CNN… – Despicable hack Jake Tapper had Michigan’s aspiring South American banana republic strong woman, Generalissimo Gretchen Whitmer, on his Democrat talking point program Sunday morning. During the course of the interview, Tapper of course lobbed a leading question that encouraged Herr Gretchen to smear all of the thousands of protesters in her state as being racists and worse, and comparing them neo-Nazi groups. Because of course he did.

Herr Gretchen, plastic smile firmly implanted on plastic face, did not miss her cue, and this ensued:

Tapper: These protests came after President Trump tweeted (they actually started weeks before the President ever said anything about them) ‘liberate Michigan,’ he tweeted “the Governor of Michigan should give a little, put out the fire,” uh, he said that these are “very good people” about the protesters, to which the executive director of the Jewish Democratic Council of America compared those comments to president Trump’s referring to those marching a long neo-Nazis in Charlottesville as “very fine people.”

Is that how you see these protesters? In that vein, that extreme?

Herr Gretchen: Some of the outrageousness that happened at our capitol this week, you know, depicted some of the worst racism and awful parts of our history in this country. You know, the confederate flags and nooses, the swastikas, the, um, you know, or behavior that you have seen in all of the clips is not representative of who we are in Michigan.

And the fact of the matter is, you know, we’re in a global pandemic. This isn’t something we just negotiate ourselves out of as a political matter. This is a public health crisis that has taken the lives of almost 70,000 Americans, has put 30 million people into unemployment. We’ve lost in the last 24 hours almost the same number of Americans that were killed on 9/11, and that’s just in the last 24 hours.

We need to listen to the expertise in our institutions of higher learning and our health system and make decisions that are going to protect the lives of everyone. Whether you agree with me or not, I’m working to protect your life if you live in the state of Michigan. I’m gonna continue to do my job regardless of what tweets come out or what polls come out or what people think that is, you know, makes sense. We’re gonna listen to facts and science because we’ve got to get this right.

[End]

Ok, so, here are the key messages in that exchange:

– These protesters are all Nazis, racists, and you know, like, Hitler or something;

– The President is also a Nazi racist who is, you know, just like Hitler or something;

– Because science;

– Herr Gretchen is relying professors – you know, the same professors who brainwash your kids in our colleges are helping me brain wash you now;

– She’s in charge because she says so.

I think that about covers it.

Does this guy look or sound like a Nazi to you?

If he does, you are the one who needs re-training.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, heavy-handed Mayor Lori Lightfoot is spending her time harassing kids trying to play basketball, with an entourage that is not observing their own social distancing rules:

You could never make this stuff up, folks. Never in a million, billion, gazillion years.

Remember, Citizens! We are all in this together apart so long as you obey the orders of your superiors. If you disobey those orders and peaceably assemble to advocate for your dangerous constitutional freedoms, we are no longer all in this together apart, and you will be smeared and taken to jail.

Citizens! Be good citizens!

That is all, comrades.

The Disturbing, Growing Rift Between Free States and Prison States

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

So, I’m sitting here on a Saturday morning contemplating the fact that our country is now at a point at which it has become normal for talking heads on TV and print commentators to talk about “free states” and “prison” or “lockdown states”. I did it myself in a piece the other day without even thinking about it.

At any other time in the last 150 years, this kind of discourse would have been shocking, but today it is part of the “new normal” that aspiring despots like Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer now talk about, echoing the kind of language Barack Obama used during his term to convince people to accept his own efforts to regulate every aspect of their daily lives.

It’s easy to tell which states are “free” or becoming more free, anyway, and which states are “prisons”: The Free States have Republican governors, and the Prison states, with a few exceptions like Ohio, are run by Democrats like Whitmer. This dichotomy between the governance by the two parties in this national emergency over a virus with a mortality rate well below 1% becomes increasingly stark with every passing week.

Friday, May 1 was a great example. In Texas, GOP Governor Greg Abbott moved to reopen a vast swath of businesses (with limited capacity restraints), state parks and the beaches along the Gulf Coast. On the very same day, Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom moved to close all state parks and beaches. As a result, free Texans flocked to local shopping malls or to reopened restaurants to enjoy their first meal out in six weeks, while thousands of imprisoned Californians staged a massive protest in the city of Huntington Beach:

Think about the brutish stupidity of that beach closing order: Given that we now know that heat and sunlight kill this virus, what better place for Southern Californians to spend time than on the damn beach? But Governor Newsom, acting on his fascist impulses, shuts the beaches down because he was personally “disturbed” by video of people enjoying a day in the sun earlier in the week.

Americans all over the country have clearly shown that they are willing to cooperate with restrictions to their freedoms that make sense in fighting the spread of this virus. But irrational nonsense like this and Gov. Whitmer’s ban on motor boats has got to stop.

If these Democrat governors do not begin to relent soon, and stop treating the rural residents of their states as if they all live in densely-populated Manhattan, the peaceful protests we have witnessed all over the country in the past few weeks will begin to turn more aggressive, possibly even violent. This is not something I’m encouraging: It’s simply an inevitable outcome of dictatorial governors insisting on continuing to deny people their constitutional rights.

Make no mistake about this: Each and every one of the lockdown orders issued by Republican and Democrat governors alike are blatant violations of individual rights. These governors – and various mayors and other local officials – can only maintain these orders so long as they are able to maintain control over their law enforcement agencies to enforce them. Already, we see this level of control beginning to crack.

We saw it in Houston last week, when associations of both Houston police officers and Harris County sheriff’s deputies made it known they would not try to enforce an abusive order made by the idiot county judge there. We saw it in Orange County, CA on Friday, where the sheriff issued a statement informing the public he would not attempt to enforce Gov. Newsom’s beach closing order.

Because, you see, law enforcement officials read the constitution, too, and they promise to uphold it when they are sworn into office. Just because some governor or mayor doesn’t give a damn about individual freedoms does not mean the local police chief or sheriff or head of the state police agency feels the same way.

We know enough about this viral plague brought to us by China and have enough effective treatment regimes in place now to move away from the “flatten the curve” stage to a “protect the vulnerable and treat the sick” stage. Hell, if these governors would just focus on dealing effectively with the nursing homes in their states, that would take care of half the problem. In Texas, the median age of those who have died from this virus is over 80. Let that sink in.

Everyone who has been paying attention and is not just a brain-dead outrage monkey on Twitter can clearly see that the time for these statewide, one-size-fits-all lockdowns has passed. The situation now calls for the aspiring South American junta leaders like Whitmer, Newsom and Ralph KKK Northam to stand down and engage in more thoughtful and intelligent governance, and to stop the systematic violation of the rights of their citizens.

It’s time for there to be no justification or need for any talking head to use the terms “Free state” and “Prison state” anymore. We’re supposed to be the United States, and dichotomies in governance like the ones we see continuing to grow over this virus cannot persist for long before they threaten to become permanent.

GOP States vs. Democrat States: The Differences are Very Clear

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

With Texas Governor Greg Abbott now moving fairly aggressively to reopen Texas and its economy (the 10th largest on earth), the differences in approach between Republican governors and Democrat governors are now becoming increasingly stark.

Abbott now joins Republican governors like Brian Kemp in Georgia, Henry McMaster in South Carolina, Ron DeSantis in Florida, Kristi Noem in South Dakota and Kevin Stitt in Oklahoma in lending a sense of urgency to getting businesses reopened and people back to work, rescinding stay-at-home orders in the process. Noem, along with Republican governors in 6 other states (Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Utah and Wyoming) in fact never even issued such an order for her state.

Unsurprisingly, not a single Democrat governor showed similar restraint. Democrats literally live for the chance to lord political power over common people, and the Wuhan Virus provided the best such opportunity most of them have ever had to do so. As New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy told Tucker Carlson with a smile on his face recently, he “wasn’t even thinking about the Bill of Rights” when he issued his own order, and there can be little doubt that most, if not all, other Democrat governors also never gave such arcane concepts as individual freedoms a second thought. Drs. Fauci and Birx had advised governors to use their judgment in ordering their people to stay at home, and by God, the judgment of every Democrat was to knee-jerk to such an order.

Today, as Republicans are now rescinding the orders they issued, here are the actions we have seen in recent days from Democrat governors around the country:

Virginia Governor Ralph KKK Coonman Northam – On April 15, he extended his order for the closure of “non-essential” businesses to May 8. On April 23, he extended his ban on “non-essential” surgeries for another week (there sure is a lot of “non-essential” stuff going on in Virginia, huh?). On March 31, he extended his stay-at-home order through June 10. Truly, this a man on a mission.

Michigan’s plastic-faced Strong-Woman Gretchen Whitmer – After earlier extending her stay-at-home order through May 15, announced on Monday that she wants the legislature to step in to further extend it for another 28 days. Whitmer claims to have the power to do this herself (power she has exercised, rightly or wrongly, already on several separate occasions) but after receiving pushback from members of both parties in the legislature, she is now looking for political cover.

California Governor Gavin Newsom – While Newsom has surprisingly performed fairly reasonably during this crisis – with notable exceptions, like getting burned when he purchased thousands of Chinese respirators that don’t work – it is important to note that his own stay-at-home order doesn’t even have a planned expiration date. In mid-April, he rolled out 6 requirements that must be met in order for him to begin rolling that order back. As of today, those requirements have not been met, and aren’t likely to be met anytime soon.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom WolfExtended his stay-at-home order through May 8.

New Jersey Governor Phil MurphyOn Monday announced that his own indefinite stay-at-home order would remain in place “until further notice.” At the same time, he outlined a gradual plan for reopening that hinges almost entirely on the current false media narrative about “more testing.” In other words, he’s really enjoying this exercise of authoritarian power and has no plans to give it up anytime soon.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo – What can you say about this guy? His feckless lack of leadership and preparation have been largely responsible for this outbreak across the United States, and the media-directed national panic that led to so many needless draconian restrictions across the country, as governors of both parties failed to realize that their states were not like New York, not at all. Cuomo still, to this day, has not shut down the petri dishes on rails that are New York City’s subway cars. To. This. DAY. He got caught short on ventilators because, in 2015, he made the decision to forego buying 15,000 of them at bargain prices, spending the money instead on nebulous “climate change” nonsense. He has utterly and completely failed to protect senior citizens living in the state’s nursing homes, which have been the centers for a huge portion of New York’s massive COVID-19 death toll.

Naturally, Cuomo’s performance in this pandemic has made him a folk hero to the corrupt news media and most Democrat voters, and he is a virtual shoe-in to be re-elected to an unprecedented fourth term in office this November, 2022.

Holy crap.

It’s hard to be optimistic about America’s future when voters keep electing and re-electing Democrats to positions of power. Granted, Republicans aren’t a hell of a lot better, but as we have seen during this epidemic given to us by the ChiComs, they at least exhibit some level of respect for the rights of their citizens, and observe the need to take those into consideration while also taking actions necessary to protect the public.

Where the respective governors of each party are concerned, the contrasts in approach are in fact very stark and unambiguous.

Keep that in mind when you cast your votes in November.

That is all.
