Time to Call the Vote or Just Surrender, Mitch

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

So much hypocrisy, so little time. – It would be impossible to detail all the rank hypocrisy coming from the political left related to the Kavanaugh nomination right now, but this tweet from Moveon.org just cannot go unmentioned:

For all you Millennials out there who are too young to remember, Moveon.org’s name LITERALLY refers to the one and only reason for its creation in the late 1990s, which was to use Saul Alinsky tactics to convince the public to “just move on” from Bill Clinton’s serial sexual abuses. LITERALLY.

Ok, one more breathtakingly disgusting tweet from a leftist organization that cannot go unmentioned:

That’s right, friends, the demented creeps at Amnesty International want you all to believe that Brett Kavanaugh is actually, in his spare time, a budding Saddam Hussein.  Holy crap.

The Creepy Porn Lawyer is frustrated. – Speaking of demented creeps, Michael Avenatti was on Twitter on Monday complaining that his emails to the lead counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee, Mike Davis were not getting returned in a timely manner.  Someone really should let this guy know that the congressional email system automatically shoves any incoming emails whose IP address is Creepy.Porn.Lawyer.1 over to the spam folder.

But the Creepy Porn Lawyer is coming, and apparently a whole string of exactly who you’d expect are coming with him (no puns intended). – Avenatti’s latest story keeps changing, which is not surprising coming from this greasy carnival barker.  He started it off with the following tweet on Sunday:

But last night, in an interview on – guess where? – CNN, which is always willing to accommodate any anti-Trump hack who wants his face on national TV, the Creepy Porn Lawyer claimed to have “multiple” women willing to claim that Mr. Kavanaugh engaged in all sorts of sexual shenanigans while in college.  He further pledged to start bringing them forward – no doubt also on CNN – within the next 48 hours.  So, just in time to pre-empt the hearing scheduled for Thursday at which both Kavanaugh and accuser Christine Ford are supposedly going to testify.

Gosh, what a coincidence, right?

So, we now have the Democrats’ game fully laid out for all to see, and it goes like this:

  • Find some initial accuser willing to smear Kavanaugh and also willing to pretend to be willing to testify under oath;
  • Derail the scheduled process by insisting that the first accuser cannot possibly be ready to testify by Monday, Sept. 24, and demand a later hearing;
  • Once you get that later hearing scheduled, then issue a constantly-changing set of demands that you know Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley will not meet, because your client has no intention of ever testifying under oath and potential felony charges for perjury;
  • As the new hearing date approaches, get another accuser who also has no earthly intention of testifying under oath out in front of the public to create confusion and place further pressure on Kavanaugh and cowardly senate RINOs Republicans like Jeff Flake and Susan Collins;
  • As the second accuser’s story is being systematically shown to be an outright fraud that is even too fake for the freaking New York Times to run, bring out the Creepy Porn Lawyer to up the pressure with even more absurd and salacious claims against the nominee;
  • All the while, have your depraved and evil Democrat senators like Dianne Feinstein and that brain-dead nitwit from Hawaii all over TV insisting that the Thursday hearing be cancelled because you know your “witness” has no intention of showing up for it.

This is classic Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals 101.  You have to give the Democrats credit – this bit of evil destruction of a good man’s reputation and life has been extremely well-coordinated.  The obvious effort is to create such a high degree of confusion that the average member of the public cannot possibly figure out what the truth is and ultimately gets to the point where they all say “enough!  stop this madness!” and the nomination gets pulled by its sponsors.

As we sit here this morning, there is no real way to know with certainty if the Democrats and their fake news media wall of propaganda will achieve their end goals, but the GOP’s foolish efforts to pretend their accusers are acting in good faith (they aren’t) and negotiating with their extremely expensive lawyers moves the ball forward for the bad guys with each passing day.

Majority Leader McConnell can make all the tough floor speeches he wants (he made a pretty good one on Monday), but until he calls an end to this circus and forces a vote on the nomination, he is playing directly into the Democrats’ twisted, gnarled hands.

In the end, McConnell, Grassley and the Senate Republicans are either going to have to take a stand and force a vote, or ask Kavanaugh and President Trump to pull the nomination.  Had they done what they should have done and gone forward with the scheduled committee vote yesterday, they could be holding the final vote tomorrow.

The Senate Rs appear to be living under an illusion that if they just keep negotiating and compromising, their Democrat “colleagues” will ultimately start behaving reasonably and the pressure will relent.  This is insanity and frankly stupid.  In fact, the Democrats will only continue increasing the pressure and bringing more and more accusers out of the woodwork to make increasingly outrageous claims.

When it becomes obvious to even the most clueless GOP senate members late on Wednesday that Ms. Ford is not going to show up for Thursday’s hearing, McConnell and Grassley need to simply schedule a vote.  If that doesn’t happen, then this nomination is dead, and our constitutionally-guaranteed rights to the presumption of innocence and to face one’s accusers are dead along with it.

It really is that simple.

That is all.

The Campaign Update Week in Review: The Democrats’ Mask Comes Off

The Evening Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Man, what a week this was.  The circus in Washington, DC reached an even higher fever-pitch than normal as the Democrat Party continues its efforts to literally destroy our nation from the inside out.

It was the week that the funeral of one of the biggest film box office stars of all-time, Burt Reynolds, received almost no notice at all from a fake news media that remains laser-focused on carrying out the orders of its Democrat benefactors.

It was a week in which the public got even more proof of the fact that a deep state cabal of DOJ/FBI Obama-era honchos tried to fix the 2016 election and then bring down a duly-elected president. As if we needed any more proof, that is.

It was the week in which President Trump finally moved to begin forcing the declassification of a raft of documents related to the deep state cabal’s activities, documents that various congressional committees have been trying to obtain for over a year.

Oh, but that’s not all that happened, not even close.  Here’s a bunch more stuff, starting with a parade of Democrat mendacity that exceeded even the Clarence Thomas hearings…

  • The Democrats told us we simply MUST “believe the woman” in the case against Brett Kavanaugh, a case in which the woman accuser has zero corroborating evidence and is, frankly, transparently lying.
  • Those same Democrats told us we simply MUST ignore the woman in the case against DNC Vice Chairman Keith Ellison, a case in which the accusing woman has all sorts of corroborating evidence because, well, Ellison’s a Democrat, so…
  • Those same Democrats also told us we simply MUST look the other way at Cory “I am Spartacus” Booker’s admission to groping a young girl at a party when he was in high school, even though he admitted it in a printed newspaper column that he himself wrote, because, um, well, you know, like, ummmm…he’s a Democrat, so…
  • Basically, by the end of the week, it had become obvious to pretty much everyone with firing brain synapses that the Democrats, as a Party, now actively oppose the Constitutional principle of a defendant’s presumption of innocence, if that defendant is a male Republican.  While many of us have recognized that reality for many years, that realization came as a real shock to many others.
  • Boy, just wait til all those people finally figure out that, as a Party, the Democrats are in fact opposed to the Constitution.  Period.  Because that’s the truth.

Oh, but it just got better where the Christine Ford allegations were concerned…

  • On Monday, Democrats were demanding – DEMANDING – that Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley schedule a special hearing at which Ms. Ford would surely love to testify.
  • By Tuesday, Democrats were wailing that the special hearing Grassley had scheduled was just tooooo soooooooooooon.
  • By Wednesday, Democrats were screaming Grassley and other Republicans were “bullying” Ms. Ford for expecting her to actually testify at the hearing that she and they had demanded.
  • By Thursday, Democrats and Ms. Ford’s lawyers were negotiating the terms under which Ms. Ford ‘might’ agree to testify.
  • By Friday, Democrats and Ms. Ford’s lawyers were reduced to claiming that Ms. Ford didn’t want to come to Washington to testify because she was like, all askeered of flying and stuff.
  • By Saturday, Sen. Grassley and Mitch McConnell still hadn’t figured out they were being totally played by the Democrats and Ms. Ford, and were still giving her extensions of time so they could continue to negotiate the terms of her appearance before the Committee, an appearance that Ms. Ford has absolutely no intention at all of making.

Sheesh.

  • Despite Grassley’s and McConnell’s cluelessness, Democrats were in panic mode by Friday, mainly because the HuffPo issued a poll that showed just 26% of those surveyed actually think Ms. Ford is “credible.”
  • So the newsfakers at the New York Times accommodated their Democrat masters by trying to change the narrative going into the weekend, issuing a story – based only on anonymous sources – claiming that Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein had proposed wearing a wire to his meetings with President Trump in mid-2017, and also proposed trying to have Trump declared unfit under the 25th Amendment.
  • Whether true or not, this narrative shift is a transparent effort by the Ds and the fake news media to provoke the President into firing Rosenstein prior to Election Day, so that the media can then portray the move as some sort of abuse of power.
  • While Rosenstein definitely needs firing – and has for a long, long time – so far, the President has avoided taking that particular bait.  After Election Day, though, all bets are off.

Lots of other stuff happened this week, too…

  • Michael Moore’s new Trump-bashing movie bombed at the box office.  Oh, darn.
  • The Emmy Awards show was filled with anti-Trump messages, and as a result received the lowest ratings in its entire history.  Gosh, no one could have seen that coming.
  • A rookie Republican candidate defeated a veteran Democrat pol in a special election in Texas Senate District 19, a heavily-Democrat district that the Coughing Crook won by 12 points in 2016.  But, Blue Wave, or something.
  • Ben and Jerry’s announced that it was introducing a “variety of Democrat-Inspired ice cream flavors.” No word if the flavors range from Blue (Wave) Berry to #MeToo Munch to PussyHatPeach to Depravity Delight, but it seems likely. Oh, goody.
  • Actor James Woods was banished from Twitter for re-tweeting a meme that makes fun of Democrat beta males, on the hysterically absurd grounds that by doing so he might “impact an election.”  By that standard, the nitwits who run Twitter would have to ban every major media outlet that serves as nothing but a propaganda mouthpiece for the Democrat Party, which is pretty much every one of them outside of Fox News.  Holy crap.

What else?  hmmmm…oh, yeah…

  • Claims for unemployment benefits fell to another 49-year low.
  • The Dow Jones Industrials closed at an all-time high level for the 100th time since Trump was elected to the presidency.
  • The economy is in fact so strong and private-sector jobs so abundant that, for the first time since 2005, the U.S. Army missed its recruiting goal for fiscal year 2018, which closes on September 30.

God Bless America.

That is all.

Dems Use the Kavanaugh Process to Destroy Americans’ Most Fundamental Rights

The Evening Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley is a great American and a fine senator.  With the notable exception of his destructive obsession over preserving the ethanol subsidies and mandates that benefit his state’s corn farmers but distort all manner of markets and ruin thousands of engines every year, he is right on pretty much every issue and has been a stalwart warrior for truth, justice and what DC Comics used to admit was the American Way.

But even this great American has found himself treading on very thin ice in his ongoing cowtowing to the demands of the mendacious Democrats who sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee.  To Grassley’s credit, he has held firm in denying the utterly dishonest demands from the Judiciary Ds and Christine Ford’s lawyers that the FBI investigate her transparently false claim of being assaulted by a teenage Brett Kavanaugh 36 years ago when they were both in high school.  But at the same time, Grassley tread on very dangerous ground by agreeing to delay his Committee’s scheduled vote this week and offer the accuser a special hearing next Monday.

Ms. Ford is a possible witness in a confirmation process, nothing more.  She does not become someone endowed with special rights who gets to make special demands simply because she claims, without offering any evidence at all, something bad happened to her at a party 36 years ago.  She has no special status to demand an FBI investigation take place on her whims, nor does she get to negotiate the terms of her possible appearance before a congressional committee, the latest demand which is being reported this afternoon by the fake news hacks at the New York Times.

Ms. Ford is an accuser.  Our society is based on – indeed, our Constitution specifically and unambiguously demands – the principle that a defendant have the absolute right to face his or her accuser and hear the charges under oath, an oath that of necessity carries with it harsh penalties should the accuser lie.  The adherence to this fundamental principle of law is not negotiable in any way if we are going to remain a free, constitutional republic.

Sadly, it is this fundamental principle of law that the Democrat Party and its propaganda arm in the fake news media is using the #MeToo movement to assault.  Everything about the Kavanaugh confirmation process, every despicable tactic employed by the Democrats related to it, every false narrative about the nominee promoted by the fake news media, have been designed to undermine the fundamental legal rights of the accused.

Because Ms. Ford is making a claim of sexual assault, Democrats now demand not just that she be heard, but that she be believed out of hand despite the unarguable fact that she has presented zero credible evidence that anything took place at all.  It is blindingly obvious that her coming forward is nothing more or less than a tactic to force an open-ended delay in the process, so that the vote on confirmation might be delayed until after the mid-term elections.

Even Ms. Ford’s memory “lapses” are clearly designed to ensure that Judge Kavanaugh cannot quickly prove she’s lying.  She can’t remember the date of the incident – if she did, Kavanaugh might well be able to prove he was in some other city on that day.  She can’t remember at whose home the party was held – if she could, Kavanaugh might be able to find the owner of the home, who might well say he never held any such party.  She can’t remember who she came to the party with, or who she left with – if she could, Kavanaugh might well be able to find those people, who would no doubt deny they did any such thing.

Back during the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill fiasco, Democrats and their media agents became fond of claiming that Hill’s tales had “the ring of truth” to them.  That wasn’t true, but it was the talking point they all used at the time.

There is not a single aspect about Ms. Ford’s story – or the manner in which it was rolled out to the public by Dianne Feinstein and the Democrats – that has the “ring” of anything but a highly-calculated effort to deny Judge Kavanaugh his fundamental rights as an American and to delay the process for no legitimate reason.

If Sen. Grassley and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell concede to Ms. Ford’s latest illegitimate demand for special treatment she has no right to and has not earned, they are conceding to further undermining of the basic rights of the accused that are such a fundamental foundation of our entire society.  They simply must not do this.

I wish I had confidence they won’t.

Today’s Campaign Update – The Week in Review

Today’s Campaign Update – The Week in Review

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

This week, we introduce a new feature at the Campaign Update – The Week in Review.

Ok, actually we introduced this last Friday evening, but failed to take the time and space to point it out.  We’re going to plan to post one of these every Saturday afternoon at least through the end of this year’s mid-term election campaign, at which point the plan is to assess their utility (and readership level) and decide whether they should be continued.

In putting these Campaign Updates together every morning, it often becomes impossible to adequately capture all the big things that are taking place related to our national politics.  Every day has multiple news cycles, as the leftwingers in our fake news media and the Democrat Party become increasingly panicked about their prayed-for “Blue Wave” failing to materialize and the growing reality that Robert Mueller is systematically taking the steps necessary to wind down his fruitless “investigation.”

We can only expect the pace of fakenewsery to speed up even more during the 8 weeks remaining until Election Day, meaning that, in order to keep everyone updated on the campaign, the Campaign Update must work a little overtime.

The plan here is to summarize the week’s major events in bullet point format, heaping as many insults and pithy comments upon all the snowflakes, SJWs, fake newsers and other creatures on the political left as we can think to include.  Links to relevant stories will, as always, be included where relevant and useful.

So here we go with the Campaign Update Week in Review, Episode 2.

This was the week that all the following happened:

  • Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, a shameless SJW himself, admitted that his “conservative employees “don’t feel safe to express their opinions” while in the Twitter corporate workplace.  Man, what do you think tipped him off?
  • Meanwhile, over at Google, tapes of a leadership team meeting that took place shortly after the 2016 election revealed that, contrary to their pious claims of impartiality, the social media behemoth does indeed do everything it can to distort its search results in favor of liberals.  Very predictably, none of the TV networks, nor CNN or the NYTimes or Washington Post devoted any time or space to covering this major story.  Go figure.
  • The Washington Post told us that President Donald Trump is “complicit” in the creation of Hurricane Florence because he doesn’t spout the dogma of the religion of Climate Change, but oddly gave him no credit at all for the hurricane’s being downgraded from a Cat 4 storm to a Cat 1 as it approached the Eastern Seaboard.  Odd.
  • The fake news media’s coverage of the leadup to and destruction caused by Florence was every bit as fake as one would have expected, as the fake journalists did everything they could think of to use the storm to try to damage President Trump and any other random Republican who got in the way.  So tiresome.
  • We learned that RINO Senator Ben Sasse “thinks about leaving the Republican Party” every morning.  So go already.
  • President Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was restored over last weekend, and has, as of this writing, remained unmolested by enraged social justice warriors a full week later.  Amazing.
  • Speaking of stories the mainstream fake news media couldn’t be bothered to spend a second reporting, a Republican candidate for congress out in California was stabbed by a lunatic supporter of his Democrat rival, incumbent congressman Eric Swalwell, who I remain convinced played Otter in the 1978 film “Animal House.”  When Swalwell was interviewed on CNN the very next day, he was not asked a single question about the stabbing by the fake news hack doing the interview.  *sigh*
  • Les Moonves got his sorry butt “MeToo’d” out of his job as CEO of CBS.  The management at CBS was so angry at all the bad PR Moonves brought the organization that they sent him packing with a severance deal totaling only about $100 million.  Not kidding.
  • San Fran Nan said she agrees that, where the Democrats are concerned, “it’s time for new blood and we should move on.”  That’s the good part.  But in her next breath, she promised to continuing clinging to power so long as Donald Trump is President: “to have no woman at the table and to have the Affordable Care Act at risk, I said, ‘As long as he’s here, I’m here.”  Oh, goody.
  • Paul Manafort “flipped” in order to get a plea deal from Bob Mueller, but it’s an open question whether his flipping is any sort of bad news for President Trump or just for Tony Podesta, with whom Manafort partnered to lobby for some Ukrainian clients during the Obama Administration.  Given that all the charges that Mueller had brought against Manafort were from that long ago period of time, the latter seems most likely.
  • Political fabulist Bob Woodward’s new book trashing President Trump immediately topped all the best-seller lists, but it turned out that possibly the most damaging allegation in it relates not to the President, but to Obama’s CIA Director, the execrable John Brennan.  Oh, my.
  • Corrupt New York Mayor Andrew Cuomo sent the eternally irritating Marxist Cynthia Nixon packing, and nobody really cared.
  • The New York Times tried to smear Nikki Haley and it backfired immensely, proving that sometimes justice still does prevail in this country.
  • Late in the week, despicable California Senator Dianne Feinstein pulled a last minute stunt to try to derail the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, but when even the fakenewsers at the Washington Post were ridiculing the highly-predictable tactic, it quickly became obvious that it won’t work.

With the final Senate floor vote not scheduled to take place until September 29, though, no one should blithely assume that Feinstein and her fellow depraved Democrats are finished trying to slander the nominee.  They probably have several more arrows in that Luciferian quiver they drag around with them.

Stay tuned.

That is all.

The Bork Playbook Having Failed, Democrats Open up the Thomas Playbook on Kavanaugh

The Evening Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Well, this was pretty much inevitable, wasn’t it?  Last week’s tireless effort by Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats to put a Borking on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh failed miserably.  Every lie, every deceitfully-edited video, every empty threat, every “I am Spartacus” moment ran up on the shoals of reality and truth.  The nominee’s eloquence and composure through all of that plus an endless array of leftist nutjobs who had been paid to disrupt the proceedings ended up enhancing the public’s opinion of him and damaging the presidential hopes of political circus ringleaders Kamala Harris and Cory Booker.

Democrats are nothing if not repetitive, having attempted to use their “Borking” strategy against every subsequent Republican Supreme Court nominee since 1987.  They are also extremely predictable, and it was pretty much inevitable that, in this era of all #resistance all the time politics, they would follow their failed Borking of Kavanaugh with an effort at the same sort of “high-tech lynching” they attempted to pull on Clarence Thomas when he was nominated by President George H.W. Bush in 1991.

So it is that we see today’s revelation by the fakenewsers at Buzzfeed that despicable California Senator Dianne Feinstein has referred a letter from a constituent who is just oh, so desperate (she isn’t) to remain anonymous (she won’t) to the FBI because it makes nasty allegations (which are false) about Mr. Kavanaugh.  And get this:  Those allegations allegedly took place while the letter writer and Kavanaugh were in freaking HIGH SCHOOL together.

Yes, friends, these depraved Democrats, having spent months scouring the nominee’s adult life and judicial record and coming up with a big bag of nothing, have now resorted to digging up some woman who claims to have gone to high school with Kavanaugh, and who is willing to try to drag his reputation through the mud.  Feinstein, who has been shopping the letter around Capital Hill all week, claims it just showed up in her mail out of the blue, and if you believe that I have some property in the Texas hill country I’ve been trying to off-load for about 3 years that I’d like to talk to you about.

Trust me on this, it is only a matter of time before…

– We find out the accuser’s name;

– We discover she is being represented by some scumbag lawyer like Michael Avenetti or Lisa Bloom or best of all, Gloria Allred;

– We find out she got paid a ton of money by some Democrat-affiliated, Soros-funded third party group to write and send the letter; and

– We start seeing leftwing talking heads and Democrat politicians rolling out their next big talking point, which will be that we must – MUST – place the Kavanaugh nomination on hold until these oh-so-credible accusations, which will almost certainly be luridly sexual in nature, can be sorted out.

As you can see, this last-ditch, incredibly predictable effort to derail the Kavanaugh nomination meets my “5 Ds” test:  It is despicable, disgusting, disgraceful and depraved, and whenever you see any politically-related episode that fits all four of those Ds, you can bet your entire 401(k) plan balance that the fifth D – Democrats – are behind it.

It won’t work, but you just knew they were going to try it.

That is all.

The Kavanaugh Hearings: America’s Long National Nightmare Continues

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Okay, so, time to switch to Under Armor or New Balance. – The geniuses at Nike decided that Monday, which was Labor Day, would be a great time to unveil its new ad campaign star, unemployed ex-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.  Alienating half of your potential customer base at the outset seems like an odd marketing strategy, but hey, I don’t sell athletics shoes for a living, and I’m not Nike’s target consumer anyway.  So, no doubt things will work out fine.  Or not.  Either way, I won’t be buying Nikes anymore, and neither will millions of other Americans who think it’s inappropriate to take a knee during the National Anthem.

Man, no one could’ve seen this one coming.  Oh, wait… – Tourism is down in Lexington, Virginia.  Not just down – wayyyyy down.  Why is this a thing in Today’s Campaign Update, you ask?  Why, because Lexington, VA is the home of the Red Hen Restaurant.  You remember that place, right?  Yes, this is the establishment owned and run by the lunatic leftwing social justice warrior who, along with her staff, refused to serve White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her family when they attempted to dine there a few months ago.

The incident didn’t end there.  Not content to merely run the Sanders brood out of her own mediocre establishment, the Red Hen’s proprietor led a gaggle of her rancid staff across the street to harrass them as they attempted to eat at another Lexington restaurant.  Such lovely people, these leftists.

Anyway, as is always the case in this world – and will be the case with Nike, by the way – actions have consequences, and the consequence for the Red Hen and the other unlucky businesses that share streetfront property with it in Lexington, is that business is bad.  Not just “bad,” but baaaaaaaaaaaadddd.  The Director of Marketing for the local tourism board, Patty Williams, told reporters over the weekend that the area is still feeling effects from the ridiculous incident.  “For a town our size, it was a significant impact,” she said.  Go figure.

But hey, the board has a plan, and that plan is to spend millio…er, thousands of dollars (because that’s all they have available to them) on a campaign to “spread positive messages of the area,” messages that will presumably include an assurance that visitors to the city are not required to patronize the Red Hen and its ill-tempered, childish staff of SJW snowflakes.  No doubt this marketing plan will work every bit as well as Nike’s new marketing plan will work.  Hey, maybe Lexington can get Collin Kaepernick to do some spots for its campaign as well.  After all, the dude has nothing else on his plate.

Our long national nightmare continues… – Ok, we got one day off after the 8 Days of John McCain’s Traveling Funeral Show ended, and that’s it.  Now, get ready for four straight days of wall-to-wall fake news media coverage of fake hearings related to the nomination of Bret Kavanaugh to become the next associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Truth:  Bret Kavanaugh is an extremely well-qualified candidate to sit on the nation’s highest court, a widely-respected jurist with a long history of decisions at the federal district and appellate court-levels that place him square in the mainstream of American jurisprudence.  In a real world in which things like truth and respect for America’s institutions reigned, these hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee would last about half a day, the end result of which would be a near-unanimous vote by the committee to recommend his confirmation to the full senate.

But this is not the real world; this is today’s Washington, DC.

Reality:  Democrats on the Judiciary Committee will turn these hearings into a three-ring circus, and their co-conspirators in the fake news media will join them in attempting to brainwash you all into believing that Kavanaugh is Darth Vader incarnate, an evil monster who is coming after every woman’s reproductive rights and who wants everyone to be killed on the streets by guns.  Rank demagogues with presidential aspirations on the Committee, like California Senator Kamala Harris and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, will use their time questioning the nominee to burnish their street cred with the party’s far, far, far left voter base.

Rank demagogues who are too ancient to hold presidential aspirations on the Committee, like California’s Dianne Feinstein and Vermont’s Patrick Leahy, will barely be able to read and recite questions written for them by their unpaid interns and have no earthly idea what Kavanaugh is talking about when he answers them.  Leahy, who has was first elected to the senate by the brain-dead voters of Vermont in 1974, has been a Democrat mainstay in every controversial supreme court nomination since Robert Bork in 1987 and has yet to ask a cogent question of any nominee of a Republican president.  That’s quite a record.

The rest of the Democrats on the Committee will also ask questions, but no one will care.

The thing to know about this nomination is that it has already been won, barring some major brain fart by the nominee while at the witness table this week.  He has already received the tacit endorsement from all the GOP squishes like Susan Collins, as well as from the always-difficult Rand Paul, so Kavanaugh will in all likelihood get 50 votes from Republicans alone, which is all he needs to be confirmed.  Add to that 3 or 4 Democrat senators like Heidi Heitkamp and Joe Manchin who are in tough re-election campaigns in Republican-majority states, and you end up with essentially the same number of votes to confirm received by President Trump’s first nominee, Neil Gorsuch.

So the spectacle we’re about to be pummeled with throughout this entire week is basically just four days of hyped-up Kabuki theatre.  The outcome has been pre-determined, but the actors still demand they get their full time on stage.

Are you ready for your screen test, Ms. Harris?

Just another day in Kabuki dance America.

That is all.

Lyin’ April Ryan Rebutted by…Jim Acosta???

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Wait.  Somebody didn’t already know this? – The New York Post has a story this morning titled “Twitter is Run by Democrat Donors and Activists.”  Well, yes, yes it is.  So is Facebook.  And Youtube.  And every other social media platform you’re accessing today.

In all seriousness, the piece is by Paul Sperry, one of the handful of real working journalists still functioning in our national news media today, and anything by Sperry is well worth taking the time to read.  So go read it already.

April Ryan is a shameless liar, Part 6,578. – In her ongoing role as irrational propagandist for CNN, the execrable April Ryan told one of the fake news channel’s myriad fake hosts on Friday that, at the President’s rally earlier this week in Tampa, poor little Jimmy Acosta’s “life, in my opinion, was in jeopardy that night.”

Guess who vehemently disagrees with that assessment, and left evidence on his Twitter feed to prove it?  If you guessed Little Jimmy his own self, you a winner!

Take a look:

Hey, in fairness to the lyin’ Ms. Ryan, that baby is dressed in prison stripes, so…

A very, very inconvenient truth for the Ethanol lobby. – It won’t receive any notice from the fake newsers at CNN and the major television network news operations, but the EPA issued a devastating and long-overdue report on the environmental impacts of corn- and soybean-based ethanol on Thursday.

Since the early years of this century the EPA has, through a raft of subsidies and mandates, required oil refiners to mix this stuff into the nation’s gasoline under the guise of improving air quality.  Previous reports by EPA have claimed that it has had some positive effects in reducing ozone.

But this new report – which the Obama Administration was supposed to have issued way back in 2014 but of course failed to do so – reverses that claim and finds a set of other negative environmental impacts from the blending of ethanol with our gasolines:

According to David DeGennaro with the National Wildlife Federation, the report documents millions of acres of wildlife habitat lost to ethanol crop production, increased nutrient pollution in waterways and air emissions and side effects worse than the gasoline the ethanol is replacing.

“In finding that the Renewable Fuel Standard is having negative consequences to a whole suite of environmental indicators,” DeGennaro said, “the report is a red flag warning us that we need to reconsider the mandate’s scope and its focus on first-generation fuels made from food crops.”

Of course, the problem with getting the ethanol out of our national system is that the subsidies and mandates have had the effect of making thousands of farmers dependent on the government dole and propped up an entire industry that in reality should not exist.  Add in the fact that pretty much the entire state of Iowa – whose caucuses are always the first real voting event in every presidential campaign – is heavily reliant on the corn-growing and corn ethanol industries, and you have a real political conundrum for both political parties.

This is reinforced by the fact that the program of subsidies and mandates is statutory in nature.  While EPA does have regulatory authority to tweak the levels of ethanol added to our auto fuels, getting rid of the noxious stuff entirely would require an act of congress, and we all know that isn’t going to happen.  Thus, in spite of this new report, we should not expect any action from the government to curtail the program.

From our ICYMI files… – Oh, hey, in case you missed it – since the fake news media outside of San Francisco is doing its dead level best to pretend the story doesn’t exist – the current ranking Democrat and former chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Dianne Feinstein, was revealed this week to have employed a Chinese spy as her driver.  Not for a day, a week, a month or a year, mind you, but for 20 DAMN YEARS.

Yes, friends, for two solid decades, this DEMOCRAT had a spy for China on her payroll, listening into the conversations and phone calls she made while he was driving her around our nation’s capital.  This CHINESE SPY was in fact Sen. Feinstein’s driver during 2010-12, when Feinstein was Chairman of Senate Intel.  During that three year period, the Chinese government was able to root out and execute the entire U.S. network of intelligence operatives working in its country.

Coincidence?  That’s what Feinstein wants us all to believe, and her pals in the fake news media are lined up right with her, because of course they are.

When Feinstein’s driver was found out in 2013, what happened?  Did the CIA do its job and spirit him off to Gitmo for interrogation and prosecution?  Was he shipped back to his home country?  Anything?  Buehler???

No.  None of that happened.  What happened was, James Comey’s FBI hushed it all up and swept it under the rug, and Feinstein fired the guy and hired a new driver.  Let’s all hope this new guy’s first name isn’t Vladimir.

Just another day in Democrats hate our country and are trying to destroy it America.

That is all.

Trey Gowdy and Adam Schiff Walk Into a Bar…

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

This is not working out the way the Democrat/Media Axis of Propaganda wanted.  Not at all. – The new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday pegs President Trump’s job approval rating at 45%.  Why is that significant?  Because it is the highest approval level this particular fake media outlet poll has registered for Mr. Trump since he took office, and it comes after a week of the most focused, intense hit job led by the fake news media against any president in U.S. history.  Just one more reason why the Democrats stopped with their “Trump committed treason!!!!!” nonsense starting on Friday and went back to talking about hookers and playmates.

Speaking of things that aren’t polling well for the Democrats, how about that whole socialism thing, huh? – An ever-dwindling group of “centrist” Democrats who call themselves the Third Way held their annual meeting in Columbus, OH, on Thursday and Friday to try to come up with some sort of coherent agenda for the 2018 midterm elections.  Even though they all agreed that their party’s ongoing lurch to the far, far, far left is a bad thing, they very predictably failed in their quest.  You don’t have to believe me – just read these quotes from the Miami Herald’s coverage of the event:

“Let’s be clear,” Cowan said. “80s supply-sidism, 90s centrism and 60s socialism will not cut it for the era we’re in. We need something new and different.”

Many of those in attendance were careful not to directly criticize Ocasio-Cortez, saying they welcomed the new energy she was bringing into the party. But they also made clear that they thought her style of politics would be a difficult sell outside of her New York City congressional district, where the party must try to win over more conservative voters.

“A small but vocal subgroup that is unhinged from evidence will be wrong in the long run, regardless of how loud they are,” said Iowa state Sen. Jeff Danielson, in an interview.

But he’s not sure other members of his party will listen to his advice.

“We don’t know what we want,” he said. “We haven’t found our sea legs as a party.”

You don’t say…

Ok, so Good Trey Gowdy got out of bed on Sunday morning, and awesomeness ensued. – One never knows what to expect out of South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy.  On any given day he appears to alternate between a “Good” version of himself who is a blunt, plain-spoken bulldog of a truth-seeker, and a “Bad” version of himself who is an almost insufferable apologist for even the worst actors at the FBI and DOJ, making many wonder if he is actually seeking a job over there at DOJ when he leaves his congressional seat at the end of the year.  Which honestly wouldn’t be a bad thing if only Good Trey Gowdy showed up for work every day.

On Sunday, Good Trey Gowdy got out of bed, went on Fox News Sunday, and had this to say:

“I have not seen one scintilla of evidence that this president colluded, conspired, collaborated, with Russia. And neither has anyone else, or you can rest assured, Adam Schiff would have leaked it,” Gowdy said. “That is why they have moved on from collusion on to obstruction of justice, which is now their current preoccupation.”

Even in today’s toxic, hyper-partisan atmosphere in the halls of congress, it is a rare thing indeed to see one congressman call out another for what is basically the commission of a crime on national television.   Somewhere, Cong. Schiff’s bugeyes were bugging out even more than usual when he saw that quote.  The sad thing is that everyone knows that what Gowdy said is the unvarnished truth, and that Schiff will get away with what he’s already done and just keep on leaking with impunity because he’s a member of congress.

But Gowdy wasn’t done yet, oh no.  Later in the same interview, he also managed to take shots at the Commie and Dianne Feinstein:

“BAIER: So, Trump supporters look at that, former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey, what he said, what they’ve said. And they say they understand why the president feels a little inquisitive about where things are going.

GOWDY: Yes, Bret, you don’t even have to be a Trump supporter to be mindful of the fact that John Brennan thinks he’s guilty of a crime for which he can be hanged, that John Brennan thinks he should be in the dustbin of history, that Jim Comey thinks impeachment is too good of a remedy and Jim Comey now thinks that everyone should vote Democrat so Bernie Sanders will be the head of the budget committee and Dianne Feinstein will be the head of intel.

I mean, these are the people that were supposed to be dispassionately, objectively investigating a fact pattern and they have much animus against Donald Trump as anything I have seen in my eight years in politics.”

Good stuff.  Too bad Good Trey Gowdy doesn’t get out of bed every morning.  If he did, we’d be so much further along in this process of bringing the bad actors to justice.

Still, we should enjoy Good Trey Gowdy whenever he does show up, because he’s right on point, and entertaining as hell.

Just another day in why can’t Good Trey Gowdy show up every day America.

That is all.

Jeff Sessions Holds all the Keys to the Mid-term Elections

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Note to America:  Dianne Feinstein is no longer far left enough for California Democrats.  – Yes, let that one sink in for a minute before you continue on.

Senator Feinstein, who has held her senate seat since 1992 and was the very liberal mayor of San Francisco from 1978 through 1988, was basically given a vote of no confidence by the executive board of her own political party in her home state on Saturday, as party delegates voted overwhelmingly to support her Democrat challenger in the November election.  For those unfamiliar with California’s odd voting system, candidates from all parties run in open primaries in June, and the top two vote-getters then face off in the general election.

In the June primary, the far-left Feinstein easily bested her far, far, far, far-left opponent, state assemblyman Kevin de Leon, winning 44 percent of the vote to his 12 percent.  But de Leon won the endorsement vote from the executive board members by a whopping 65 to 7 margin, with 28 percent choosing not to endorse either candidate.  Breathtaking.

I’ve been around a long time and I can’t remember any long-time U.S. senator receiving this kind of overwhelming rebuke from their own political party.  The only good news for Feinstein is that she’ll no doubt get 90+ percent of the vote from Republican and independent voters who will find de Leon even more radical than she is.  So she’ll most likely survive to hold her senate seat into her 90s (she’s 85 now), which is precious little comfort to normal people out here in flyover country.

Speaking of the November mid-term elections, I’ve had several inquiries about where I think things are headed, so now would be a good time for a mid-year update.

Those who followed me throughout the 2016 campaign will know that I believe the overall public mood is a far bigger and more important influence over the balance of power outcome of national elections than are the nitty gritty details that the inside-the-Beltway pundits tend to focus on.  This is a more prominent influence during presidential election years than in mid-terms, but it is still a major factor.

That belief is why I began telling my clients and readers in October 2015 that I believed Donald Trump would win the presidency.  The clear mood of the vast majority of the public in 2016 was for change – real, fundamental change in the direction of the country after our disastrous 8-year experiment with community organizer radicalism, which had corrupted every institution of our government.  Among all of the primary candidates in both parties, Donald Trump, by October 2015, was the only truly viable candidate offering real change.

So, even while micro-analysts like Nate Silver were giving Hillary a 97 percent chance of winning and most of the polls showed her holding big leads in the months leading up to Election Day, I held to the belief that the overall mood in favor of real, radical change would end up prevailing and Trump would become the next POTUS.  On the Sunday prior to Election Day, I predicted he’d win 311 electoral votes, overshooting his final total by five.

The overriding public mood this far in advance of Election Day, 2018 is more difficult to read.  Which, frankly, is good news for the GOP, because the absence of a clear public mood mitigates in favor of the status quo.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Democrat Party and its fake news media guardians, the public is more divided than at any time since perhaps 1860.  The President’s base of support has only grown more loyal and unshakable over the first 19 months of his presidency, and he now polls better among self-identifying Republicans than any of his predecessors.  But the radical leftist Democrat base of support has only grown more radical over the same period of time, making it very difficult to determine if the majority inertia among the electorate is for change or for preservation of the status quo.

Again, the lack of any clear indication that this will be a real change election also mitigates in favor of the GOP, which holds majorities in both houses of congress, and which is only defending 9 senate seats as opposed to 25 the Democrats must defend.

So, here’s my current thinking on the ultimate outcome:

If the election were held today, the Rs would retain control of the House – barely – and gain a bigger majority in the Senate, with maybe 54 or 55 total seats.  There would be no impeachment action on the horizon, and President Trump would be an overwhelming favorite to be re-elected in 2020.

But the election is four months away, and much can change between now and November. If November comes around and nothing has changed in the current status quo related to all the Obama-era bad actors, the election will go very badly for the Rs.

Right now, the GOP base is pumped up, but it’s only because of President Trump, not due to anything the Republican congress has accomplished.  The tax cuts are great, but they are also old news at this point, and voters in November are going to be asking what have you done for me lately?  Congress’s failure to act on Obamacare last year and the steadfast refusal by Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to really make a push for funding the border wall will be big issues this fall in the minds of GOP voters.  Should the Senate somehow fail to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court by Election Day, that also will be a huge negative for the Republicans.

There is also great and growing dissatisfaction among the GOP base with Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the lack of any real law enforcement action being taken against the myriad bad actors within his Department.  If we get to November and no one has been indicted, Rod Rosenstein still has his job, Robert Mueller is still indicting Russian ham sandwiches at strategic moments, Peter Strzok still has his security clearances, Andrew McCabe and James Comey are still walking around free and unindicted men, and Hillary Clinton still appears to be immune from the laws of the land, then GOP voter enthusiasm will fall through the floor.

If, on the other hand, November comes around and a bunch of indictments have been served on a bunch of these terrible people and maybe Hillary Clinton and John and Tony Podesta to boot, then the GOP will pick up net seats in the elections and possibly finish the increasingly-radicalizing Democrat Party off for a generation.

It is not an overstatement to say that the entire future of our country hinges on the real nature of Jeff Sessions.  Is he just another corrupt Washington, D.C. swamp rat?  Or has he, along with Michael Horowitz, John Huber and others just been biding his time, executing a plan that will result in the beginning of real enforcement actions following the issuance of Horowitz’s report on the abuse of the FISA process several weeks from now?

Good questions.  The time for finding out is growing short.

Just another day in Jeff Sessions is holding all the keys America.

That is all.
