Are we immunized?

Guest Piece by Kelly, via Red Chair Reflections

Immunize (verb) im-yuh-nahyz, ih-myoo-nahyz

  • to make immune
  • to render harmless or ineffective, to neutralize
  • law: to grant immunity (as to a witness)

There is a powerful scene in the HBO series John Adams where Adams’ wife, Abigail, sees the 1775 smallpox epidemic wreaking havoc in her community. Her husband was away serving in the Continental Congress and founding our nation, and she was raising their children and running their farm and everything else on her own. As she worries for the health of herself and her children while watching neighbors succumb to the disease, she makes the courageous but terrifying decision to inoculate her children.

This scene graphically illustrates the concept of what it means medically to immunize. A bit of the virus-infected bodily fluid is introduced to a healthy host, so that the body can begin to create antibodies necessary to combat the disease. Anyone who has had allergy testing and treatment with allergy shots understands the concept well. Over a period of time, serum containing small amounts of the actual allergens to which a person reacts is introduced in increasing amounts and eventually, serious allergic reactions are reduced or eliminated.

In other words, over a period of time, the virus or pathogen that could once have caused harm or discomfort is rendered harmless or ineffective in its quest. It’s neutralized.

Vaccinations have nearly eradicated miserable diseases like smallpox, polio, mumps, and measles. Imagine the courage it must have taken in those early days, before the modern-day sterile healthcare environments and exacting, highly regulated clinical testing of today ensured safety and efficacy. But also imagine being so terrified of a disease with a devastating outcome and no cure that you would risk infecting your children in a controlled fashion with the hope that a minor infection would immunize them against a more serious one. Every time I watch the scene above, it causes me to gasp. And yet, I don’t hesitate to get a flu shot every year, and I get boosters as needed for other vaccines as recommended by my physician with no fear or worry. You could say that the fear I might feel if I really thought about the idea of putting even an inactive form of the flu virus in my body has been neutralized because for years, I’ve been vaccinated and that vaccination creates a system of antibodies that render the live flu virus mostly harmless and ineffective to me.

In order for an anti-viral vaccine to create resistance to the spread of certain contagious disease over time within a population, a sufficiently high proportion of individuals must similarly be made immune to the disease by vaccination. This is the context of “herd immunity.” If everyone is effectively inoculated in a similar fashion, the disease caused by the virus can actually be eradicated because the virus no longer has readily available welcoming hosts to sustain its viability.

But this post isn’t about healthcare, or the science behind vaccines, or the debate around their effectiveness or necessity. This post is about immunization of a different kind. With all the discussion ranging from genuine and well-founded education and concern to the associated media-fueled hysteria and insanity around the coronavirus pandemic, combined with the nonstop barrage of social media hyperventilating and finger-pointing, I’ve started to wonder if we haven’t been immunized against a lot of traits, strengths, and characteristics that we used to be taught as young children. I am starting to wonder if we have been being slowly immunized against the understanding of what community used to mean. Against the concept of sacrifice of our own self-interests in service of others. Against self-reliance. Against Judeo-Christian values. Against personal responsibility. Against intellectual curiosity. Against capitalism.

Against patriotism.

Might I suggest that all of these cultural and social “chromosomes” are the building blocks of our nation’s DNA – community, sacrifice, self-reliance, personal responsibility, Judeo-Christian values, intellectual curiosity, capitalism and patriotism fused together in our nation’s identity since our nation’s birth formed the foundation of a country that has achieved more in its relatively short life than our founders could have possibly imagined. We have saved the world from plague and scourge both physical and military, we have invented electricity, the cotton gin, the automobile, air travel, the telephone, the personal computer. Our research and funding has eradicated disease, brought water to the desert, fed the starving and cared for the sick, freed slaves and unleashed liberty and freedom at home and around the world. We put a man on the moon. All of this, and so much more, in less than 300 years. When taken in consideration of the age of our country relative to the rest of our global neighbors, we are barely entering our adolescence as a nation. If the United States of America were my child, I’d be telling you she was a prodigy. In need of some course correction and capable of some mood swings and temper tantrums, for sure, but a definite prodigy.

Why Does Joe Biden Ignore Fracking Science ?

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats are fond of pointing fingers at others and accusing them of ignoring science. They resort to this canard whenever they are trying to avoid having to form a rational, fact-based argument around “climate change,” but they like to use it as a crutch against logic on other topics as well.

But in Sunday night’s debate, when Biden once again demonized hydraulic fracturing – or “fracking” – and promised his administration would invoke a “no new fracking” policy should he actually stumble into the White House next January, it was Biden and no one else who was ignoring real, actual science.

Ironically, in ignoring the actual science around the very safe, well-regulated industrial process of fracking, Biden was ignoring the advice of the senior officials who held regulatory sway over oil and gas-related activities while he served as Vice President. These officials include, but are far from limited to:

Steven Chu, Stanford PhD. Nobel Prize Winner (Physics) DOE Secretary

U.S. Senator Ken Salazar, (Juris Doctor from University of Michigan) DOI Secretary

Sally Jewell (Mechanical Engineering, University of Washington) DOI Secretary

Gina McCarthy (Master of Science in Environmental Health Engineering and Planning and Policy, Tufts University) EPA Administrator

Lisa Jackson (Master of Science in chemical engineering from Princeton University) EPA Administrator

Each and every one of these cabinet-level appointees by President Barack Obama testified and commented on the record on multiple occasions throughout the Obama/Biden administration that hydraulic fracturing was a safe and well-regulated process that offers no threat to groundwater and produces very little air emissions. These senior Obama-era officials were literally forced to make these admissions after spending years in the conduct of a vain search for examples of fracking polluting groundwater or releasing major, harmful air emissions.

The effort at the EPA rose to such hyperbolic levels that one EPA Region 6 administrator, former SMU professor, Dr. Al Armendariz, was removed after his allegations of groundwater contamination by Range Resources were proven to be false. However, that proof did not prevent the State of New York from using Armendariz’s findings in its own doctored report that was used to justify banning fracking within its state borders.

Mr. Biden loves to talk about his years of serving as Vice President to President Obama. Yet, when it comes to fracking and the science his own administration developed and communicated during those 8 years in office, the former VEEP seems to have developed a mental block.

But no worries – we will continue to remind him – and you – of the real, extremely well-developed body of science that surrounds this safe and well regulated industrial process. Because facts are stubborn and important things, especially during troubling times such as these.

That is all.

DNC Will Use the Coronavirus to Shut This Puppy Down on Wednesday

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Why, in my day, we didn’t have things like schools and restaurants and food supply chains. – While “coronavirus” is a term that you and everyone you know has become intimately familiar with, to the two tired old Last Geezers Standing in the Democrat presidential field, it remains a mystery. In their spooky debate last night – which felt like a post-apocalyptic contest between two addled zombie hunters – Sleepy Creepy Uncle Quid Pro Joe referred to COVID-19 as “SARS”, while The Commie labled it “ebola.”

Biden also referred to the “H1N1” virus that killed more than 60,000 Americans on his own watch as Vice President as the “N1H1” – which showed how seriously he took it at the time – and called ebola “that thing that happened in Africa.” All in all, though, none of that and the other Biden gaffes on the night will be enough for Sanders, as the nation’s Unfrozen Caveman Senator held things together just enough to make his eventual nomination all but a certainty at this point.

Here’s the way the liberal hacks at Politico put it:

News-wise, there were two important takeaways. The first is that Biden did nothing to raise any fresh doubts about his electability. He was coherent, in control of his arguments in a way that he isn’t always, and aggressive enough against Sanders to keep the Vermont senator, who is rightfully respected as an excellent debater, on defense frequently. Sanders’ best hope was some kind of asteroid-like event that caused Biden to buckle on stage. It didn’t happen.

Yes, friends and family, Bernie Sanders, a man who looks and sounds like a cartoon character voiced by Mel Blanc and whose leftist ideas would make Vladimir Lenin blush, is now being portrayed by corrupt Democrat media toadies as “an excellent debater” as a means of propping up Quid Pro Joe in the public’s collective mind. Basically, because Biden managed to remain standing and remembered where he was for two hours, he’s the “winner” according to the Democrat/media propaganda machine.

Interestingly, despite Biden’s prior insistence that he and The Commie be seated for this debate, the format was changed at the last minute in order to make it coronavirus-compliant. The two grumpy old men stood a podiums carefully spaced 6 feet apart so they wouldn’t breathe on each other, but they couldn’t resist greeting one another with an elbow bump that was eerily reminiscent of a scene from “Grumpy Old Men.”

Debate in the time of coronavirus: An elbow bump greeting for Biden and Sanders | News | WTAQ

Happy Birthday Jack Lemmon!

It was nice that the two could get together for one last on-stage game of political canasta before Biden wipes the floor with Sanders in tomorrow’s primaries in Florida, Arizona, Ohio and Illinois and the DNC cancels the remainder of the campaign and summarily declares Quid Pro Joe its winner. Because that’s what’s about to happen over the course of the next two days.

With governors in major population states like California, New York, Ohio and Illinois now ordering the shutdown of bars and restaurants, and the CDC issuing an advisory discouraging any gathering of more than 50 people, coronavirus is, like it or not, turning America into your basic police state and shutting down our entire economy for at least the coming few weeks. Make no mistake about it: The actions of those four governors will soon be emulated by the governors in other states as the herd mentality takes over. These are politicians after all, and none of them will want to become a media target for straying from the coronavirus stampede.

While discouraging public gatherings and encouraging people to remain shut in their homes are moves that make sense in terms of trying to contain the spread of the virus, we must also recognize that these moves will now put massive more stress on grocery stores and the nation’s food supply chains that are already finding it impossible to meet stampeding consumer demand. Restaurants provide 35-50% of the daily meals serves in this country, and limiting them to drive-thru only or delivery isn’t going to do the trick.

We will soon be seeing lines at fast-food drive-thru windows that look like the gas lines we witnessed during the oil shocks of the 1970s, and the first guy who runs out of gas – or the electric charge in his Tesla – while waiting for hours in a line will cause it to back up for miles. If you think the shelves at your local CostCo or Albertsons have been empty over the past week, just wait till you see what happens to them when everyone rushes to the store to stock up on the stuff they need to cook their hamburgers and fried chicken at home, like your mom used to do.

Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York suggested on Sunday that the President might want to “activate the army” to help in dealing with the impacts of the coronavirus. This prompted many, including myself, to joke about Cuomo’s apparent expectation that the military can just shoot or nuke the virus.

But the reality – which he did not detail for the media – is that Cuomo knows that the actions he and his fellow governors took over the weekend are very likely to cause major disruption in food supply chains, a consequence that would inevitably lead to social unrest. That’s why he wants to have the army available to him – he’s anticipating the potential need to declare martial law.

Thus, the coronavirus and the measures being taken by the state and federal governments to deal with it, are about to provide the DNC with all the justification it needs for doing what the old Clinton freak James Carville advocated four days ago: “Let’s shut this puppy down and let’s move on and worry about November. This thing is decided. There’s no reason to keep it going, not even a day longer,” he said.

Expect the puppy to be shut down come Wednesday.

That is all.

Trump Tests Negative for Coronavirus: Media/Democrats Hardest Hit

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

For the last week, the corrupt news media – egged on by depraved Democrats like Nancy Pelosi – have wailed about the fact that President Donald Trump refused to ignore the advice of his doctors and have himself tested for coronavirus. Dimwitted reporters and talking heads repeatedly slammed the President throughout the week for continuing to shake hands with people and pat them on the back despite not having himself tested for the virus.

Note that the President has had no symptoms at all and that his doctors and the expert team on the Coronavirus Task Force have repeatedly told the media that there was no reason for him to be tested. Given that advice, and given that test kits were in short supply up until the past few days, any responsible person would refrain from insisting on having a test, leaving them instead for those who actually need them.

But the media feeding frenzy over this non-issue only intensified as the week progressed. It peaked after CNN reported that Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro had tested positive for the virus shortly after meeting with President Trump last weekend at Mar-a-Lago. The frenzy did not die down even after that CNN report was shown to be utterly false. So, finally, the President announced at his Friday afternoon press conference that he had consented to be tested now that test kits are in more plentiful supply.

Did that mollify and appease the despicably corrupt reporters? Hell, no. After the President made his announcement, social media and CNN/MSNBC blew up with the predicable new narrative that Trump was being selfish, literally stealing a test kit from some poor American who might actually need it when he had no symptoms that would justify taking the test.

Holy crap.

Late Saturday, the White House announced that the President’s test had come back negative:

President Donald Trump tested negative for the coronavirus, the White House physician said Saturday evening after the president held a press briefing on the administration’s latest moves to combat the outbreak.

The president consented to a test Friday night, Navy Cdr. Sean Conley said in a statement, and he remains symptom-free one week after dining with a Brazilian government delegation, some of whose members have tested positive for the illness, at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

The president has been criticized for repeatedly shaking hands in public and on camera despite the advice of public health officials to refrain from the practice.

At the press briefing, he defended his actions but also said that “getting away from shaking hands is a good thing.”

Late Friday, press secretary Stephanie Grisham released a memo from Conley saying Trump had dined at Mar-a-Lago with a person who has since tested positive for coronavirus. Conley did not recommend testing the president as a necessity.

Conley on Saturday said he had been in touch with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the White House Coronavirus Task Force and that his office is “encouraging the implementation of all their best practices.”

Earlier Saturday, Trump hailed the bipartisan deal on a congressional coronavirus funding package on Twitter, adding that he’d attended a series of coronavirus-related meetings in the White House that morning.

He also tweeted: “SOCIAL DISTANCING!”

As of Saturday, the U.S. had reached 50 reported coronavirus-related deaths and over 2,200 confirmed cases.

Despite Trump’s announcement that’s he’s been tested, health officials at Saturday’s press conference urged Americans to begin isolating themselves instead of rushing to get tested if they’re not experiencing symptoms.

[End]

So, social media is now filled with angry journalists and leftists who are all triggered that the evil Trump is not sick and about to die. Make no mistake about this: They had pretty much all been actively hoping for that result. Oh yeah, and they’re also squealing about his wearing a “USA” cap to his Saturday press conference. You seriously could never make these people up.

If you cannot see their ghoulish nature by now, if you still cannot grasp the fact that the mainstream news media truly is the Enemy Of The People, then you are well and truly incapable of understanding who these ghouls really are.

That is all.

Trump’s Texas Primary Turnout Was Nothing Short of Amazing

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Yes, friends, Donald Trump did just fine in Texas on Super Tuesday, despite what Lt. Col. Allen West said. – I know this is going back in time a bit now, but readers continue to send me notes of concern about an “analysis” posted by Lt. Col. Allen West at his website after the Super Tuesday primary in Texas. In that piece, with the clickbait headline of “Super Tuesday Results From Texas: It Ain’t Pretty,” Mr. West contends that the President didn’t do well in the Lone Star State, based on vote count comparisons with the field of Democrats, which then still consisted of at least 8 contenders.

Here’s an excerpt from the piece:

Ever since I was a little boy, I have always enjoyed math. It was always a treat solving equations and figuring out solutions based upon formulas. Regardless of the common core math fallacy, there are objective truths, and they can be found in the study of mathematics. I suppose that was why being a US Army Field Artillery officer was the perfect fit for me, figuring out firing solutions to put “steel on target.” Back in the day, we had to do our computations, under time constraints, with tabular firing tables and slide rules . . . those were the days.

Numbers tell a story when you know what to analyze, and they provide insight and the ability to develop plans and strategies. Therefore, our campaign staff for Texas GOP Chairman decided to take a look at some numbers from the Super Tuesday primary election here in the Lone Star State. We believed the results would tell us a story, but the story we uncovered is not a good one.

I think it is time those living in a delusional fantasy land stop kidding themselves, and realize that, well, yes, “Houston, we have a problem.” Now, I am not an alarmist, certainly not one to panic, but I am a realist. And, it is time we get real about what is happening, politically, in Texas.

It is, sad to say, a repeat of what the progressive socialist left has been doing in other once strong, conservative states.

The data found below comes from the Texas Secretary of State website. You can also see the results by county by party. This is all open-source data that anyone can find, research, analyze, and assess. What we did was to look at the major population centers in Texas, by county, and several surrounding counties, to provide a picture of what happened in this primary election cycle.

By comparison, we looked at three rural (lower population) counties. This is the data we found posted as of Thursday, March 5th. Here is what we found, with “us” meaning Republicans:

STATEWIDE (Texas) – updated
D – votes cast – 2,076,046
R – votes cast – 2,008,385
THEY OUT VOTED us by roughly 68K

Harris (Houston) – registered voters 2,385,906
D – 321,903 votes cast 13.49% turnout
R – 192,985 votes cast 8.09%  turnout
THEY OUT VOTED us by roughly 129k people

The piece goes on and on, detailing the turnout in several other big counties in Texas, but you get the picture: Because the 8 Democrats pulled more total votes than a President running essentially unopposed for re-election, that means Trump is in trouble in the Red State of Texas.

No, not really.

Look, this is really kind of simple. Texans have a long history of cross-over voting in the GOP and Democrat primaries, especially in years in which an incumbent president is running for re-election and the other party has a contested primary going on. We have a couple of 21st century examples to look at in this regard.

First, there was 2012, when Barack Hussien Obama His Own Self was running unopposed for re-election. Here are the official vote totals in that primary election:

Democrats: 590,164

Republicans: 1,449,447

So, in a state in which the Republicans that year held a statewide advantage of about 10-15% of the vote, the contested GOP primary between Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and an assortment of others out-polled Obama by roughly 160%, as hundreds of thousands of Democrats crossed over to vote in the GOP presidential primary, and thousands of others just stayed at home.

Then, there was 2004, when incumbent Texan George W. Bush was running for his re-election against a Democrat field consisting of John Kerry, John Edwards, Howard Dean and assorted other miscreants and grifters. Here are the official vote totals in that primary:

Democrats: 839,231

Republicans: 687,615

Here we see Democrats out-drawing the Republicans by about 33% in a state in which the GOP held an even larger overall advantage than in 2012. Why? Because thousands of people who would normally vote Republican either crossed over to participate in the contested Democrat primary or stayed at home due to lack of interest. That 33% margin for the contested Democrat race that year compares to an edge of just 1.7% in 2020.

Now, let’s compare total turnout increase between 2020 and 2004, which is the most relevant case given that we have a GOP incumbent president in both years. Where the Democrat vote total was up by an impressive 150%, Trump’s total votes were right at 200% higher than the total Bush received in 2004. That is an amazing shift in just 16 years.

Col. West is right when he says that “we must be concerned about the progressive socialist expansion from these major population centers.” That’s nothing new in Texas, but its advance has been reducing the GOP advantage in the state over time. But let’s be honest: Overall, his post is a fright piece containing little if any real analysis designed mainly to attract clicks from readers.

Judging from our own readers here at the Campaign Update, West’s piece did have its desired effect of raising a great deal of concern from conservative Texas voters, and hey, that’s not a bad thing. But when you look at this year’s results and examine them through the prism of history and the dynamics of this year’s campaign, the ability of President Trump to accumulate more than 2 million votes in a basically uncontested primary in Texas this year is nothing short of amazing.

Texas is a Red state, and it is going to remain a Red state for the foreseeable future.

That is all.

Operation “Hide the Geezer” Goes High Tech, Disaster Predicably Ensues

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Operation “Hide the Geezer” really isn’t working out well. Not well at all. – Quid Pro Joe Biden, the obviously impaired presumptive nominee of the Democrat Party, attempted to hold a virtual town hall on Friday, using some of that new-fangled high technology that he obviously believes is a lot of malarkey. Very predictably, things did not go well. Watch the clip below – I assure you there is nothing wrong with your speakers or headphones:

Here’s an accurate transcript, as nearly as I can tell:

Biden: mffglps I can bffflmo pclopid nesssstl Bernie S mbbbbfff gggglkbilpadoodle difficulties.

[End]

So, hey, it’s pretty much what he used to say when he held live town halls, right? Right.

But you’re no doubt thinking that things must have surely gotten better once Biden and his crack staff found a workaround to the sound problems. But you would be wrong. Things actually got really fun after Creepy Uncle Joe was provided with a fancy new I-Phone, a mysterious and strange modern piece of tech that frightens and confuses the Unfrozen Caveman Senator.

Here’s a photo of him:

Ok, just kidding. Watch this:

The man doesn’t even know when he would take office should he actually manage to win the election. Dear God, please save us from this imbecile.

On Thursday, Biden said in a speech that he and his staff were “re-imagining” how to run their campaign without all those big “crowds” that couldn’t fill half of a high school gymnasium being present. Let’s note that the people doing that “re-imagining” are the very same people who thought it would be a peachy idea to send a guy who hasn’t figured out how to operate an 8-track tape player or his BetaMax out to try to conduct this virtual town hall.

Note to Quid Pro Joe’s staff: Any day you send this fading, corrupt buffoon out to speak without a script to be read from a teleprompter is a day filled with opportunity for disaster.

Despite all the pratfalls, Biden will almost certainly become the Democrat nominee in July. He has just one real hurdle to get over at this point. That comes in the form of tomorrow night’s debate with The Commie, Bernie Sanders.

Make no mistake about it: This is a huge challenge for Biden.

After all, this is a man whose staff has now limited him to stump speeches lasting no more than 10 minutes, 15 at the outside. In all the prior Democrat debates, with half a dozen to a dozen candidates on-stage, Biden only had to maintain some level of coherence for 10-12 minutes. In this 2-hour debate, he is going to have to speak for around an hour, without prepared notes, with no teleprompter there to keep him on script.

Which of course explains why his handlers absolutely insisted that the candidates be seated for this debate instead of standing at podiums. The less physical stress for Quid Pro Joe, the better his chances of surviving the two hours without claiming to have been the guy who brought the 10 Commandments down from the mountain top, or to have known Dred Scott personally and marched with him in Selma.

Assuming none of that or something equally disastrous happens Sunday night, Biden will sweep Tuesday’s primaries in Illinois, Ohio, Arizona and Florida and become the nominee if he can remain breathing through July. At that point, all Americans can look forward to the prospect of Quid Pro Joe and President Donald Trump holding a series of debates in the fall.

Talk about must-see TV. Holy cow.

That is all.

Tucker Carlson Carpet Bombs the China-Apologist News Media

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Watch this and remember it, because it is absolute truth, and the Democrats and media will ultimately pay a price for it. – In his opening monologue last night, Fox News host Tucker Carlson delivered a brilliant expose’ of how our corrupt news media and leading Democrat politicians are conspiring with China’s propagandists to smear our own country as the “source” of the coronavirus. Below is a clip of the monologue, followed by a transcript.

First, the clip:

Here’s The Transcript:

Carlson: As the death toll rises it is important to never forget how we got here. This pandemic came out of China, and it came out of China for a reason. That is a country with poor health practices; it’s a country where government officials covered up the early impacts of the virus, when it could have been stopped, before it spread out of control.

In fact, the outbreak may have begun not in a public meat market, but in a poorly-run Chinese laboratory. Now, that is not our ‘theory’; anyone who raises that theory on American television is attacked as a ‘conspiracy monger.’  But this is a theory from a now-censored Chinese paper.

A draft paper posted in mid-February, scientists at the South China University of Technology suggested that the coronavirus outbreak began at the Wuhan Center for disease Control, where an animal may have infected a researcher, who then spread the disease outside the facility. The paper is explicit about this – we’re going to quote it: “The killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan.”

Now, we have no idea if that’s actually true; but again, those were Chinese researchers making an evidence-based argument about the origin of this virus. That paper has been taken down, no explanation has been offered for that, but you can guess.

Instead, China, the same country that controls 96% of the antibiotics we use in this nation; the same country that has been warning to cut off drug exports to the U.S. to kill Americans; is now trying to hide the reality of where coronavirus came from. In fact, they’re doing worse than that. The communist party of China is trying to blame the virus on America.

Lijian Xhao is a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry. A week ago, Xhao attacked anyone who dared to link the virus to China:

Xhao: “Certain media say that this coronavirus is a China virus. This is extremely irresponsible and we firmly oppose that. We are still tracing the origin of the virus and there is no conclusion yet.”

Carlson: That was last week. Xhao has evolved since then. Today on Twitter, he accused the U.S. of creating the virus: “When did patient zero begin in U.S.? How many people are infected? What are the names of the hospitals? It might  be U.S. Army that brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Be transparent, make public your data. U.S. owes us an explanation!”

Keep in mind, these are the people, the Chinese leadership, that our media class has allied with, has sucked up to for years, has made every excuse for, endlessly. Even when China blamed the United States for a plague they unleashed. Even when the Chinese government threatened to murder our citizens by threatening to cut off drugs, our media continued to take their side. Watch this.

Jim Acosta: “The President referred to coronavirus as a, quote, ‘foreign virus.’ And I think it’s going to smack, uhhhhh, it’s going to come across to a lot of Americans as smacking of, uh, um, xenophobia.”

Carlson: That was CNN’s Jim Acosta, a poisonous moron. Amazingly, though, it was just two months ago – and we keep track – that Acosta was sending tweets himself about the ‘Wuhan coronavirus.’ He hadn’t yet received his orders from Jeff Zucker, who receives his orders from China, so that was ok.

But now, the word is out: They must protect China at all costs. Even presidential candidates are playing along – watch this.

Joe Biden: “Down-playing it; being overly-dismissive; or spreading misinformation is only going to hurt us and further advantage the spread of the disease. But neither should we panic, or fall back on xenophobia, labeling cova-19 [huh?] a foreign virus does not displace accountability for the misjudgments that have been taken thus far by the Trump administration.”

Carlson: So it’s our fault. Just to be clear, describing a virus from Wuhan as the ‘Wuhan virus’ is not xenophobia: It’s accuracy. And anyone who says otherwise is lying, and probably for a reason.

[End Transcript]

Now, there is no question that corrupt media outlets like CNN – a subsidiary of AT&T – are utterly corrupted by Chinese money. China has invested heavily in U.S. media outlets over the last 20 years, and uses its positions in those corporations to influence media coverage. Carlson is absolutely correct that Jeff Zucker takes his orders from China, and that flows right down into the on-air hacks like Acosta.

And CNN is far from alone in this situation. All of the major networks and most major newspapers are similarly influenced by Chinese corruption. So are many of our country’s top politicians, like Quid Pro Joe Biden, who made more money selling his influence to China while serving as VP than he did from Ukraine.

As Carlson points out, that money flow from China to our media and corrupt politicians explains why they are all eagerly lining up to blame not China, but America, for the origination of this virus.

Despicable people, plain and simple.

That is all.

Pelosi Achieves Peak Depravity With Coronavirus Assistance Bill

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Every time you think the Democrats on Capitol Hill could not become more despicable, depraved and demented than they already are, they go and surprise you again. – Honestly, at this point, I really don’t think there’s any way for San Fran Nan to surprise me anymore. At least, not after this one. But I’ll probably be surprised again soon.

The liberal hacks who run The Hill have a report out this morning detailing House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s objections to the Democrats’ version of a coronavirus-related “temporary” assistance bill now worming its way through the House. Here we have what our corrupt news media is portraying as being a national emergency, a pandemic of a virus that is highly infectious and, while it has only led to 41 American deaths to this point, could lead to many more in the weeks to come.

Amid all of this, the Democrats and their toadies in the national news media have succeeded in creating a national panic that has this week resulted in the literal shutting down of much of the U.S. economy for the time being. The ultimate impacts of all of these cancelled major events that drive so much of the economy, along with the simultaneous oil price war that has erupted between Russia and the Saudis, will reverberate through the production chain, and will without question cause significant hardship for millions of American workers and their families.

Given a situation such as this, one might expect members of both parties to, for once in their pathetic lives, actually try their best to come together on a temporary aide package like this one, and leave their petty politics behind. You might expect that, but you would be wrong when it comes to Nancy Pelosi.

First, Pelosi attempted to stick in language killing the longstanding Hyde Amendment – which bars the use of federal funds to pay for abortion except to save the life of the woman, or if the pregnancy arises from incest or rape – into this completely unrelated piece of legislation. That effort was reportedly opposed by many members of her own party, so it died.

But Pelosi has succeeded in including language in this bill that will be highly controversial, including provisions that would mandate permanent paid sick leave for all employers, along with a huge permanent increase in Medicare spending that would benefit the insurance companies that have Pelosi and so many other members of congress in their pockets. McCarthy on Thursday expressed his opposition to these and other bits of depravity included in Pelosi’s bill.

From the Hill’s report:

“The president last night said we are committed to helping those who will face economic hardships as a result of work disruptions and illness. The country is looking to the government to come together and meet these challenges, but the bill that we saw that just came forth last night at 11 p.m. comes up short,” McCarthy told reporters at a press conference.

“There’s a couple major problems with it. Here’s one glaring problem: Under [Speaker Nancy] Pelosi’s bill, the Social Security Administration will be set up to administer the paid sick leave program. Now this will take more than six months, so it won’t work in time. It will also hamper the administration from putting out Social Security for those who need it right now that are in harm’s way,” he added.

“This will hurt the very population it’s supposed to be helping. It forces permanent paid sick leave for all businesses without exemptions and no sunsets.”

McCarthy’s comments came just before the bill — which would require employers to grant paid sick leave and bolster unemployment benefits, in addition to ensuring free diagnostic testing for the virus — was scheduled to come to the floor on Thursday, before lawmakers are slated to leave for a one-week recess.

The minority leader also cited Republicans’ concerns with provisions related to paid sick leave and disaster aid eligibility, adding that his GOP colleagues are committed to working across the aisle and with the Trump administration on a solution that can garner broad bipartisan support.

At her press conference at the end of the work day, a slurring, stammering and obviously highly agitated Pelosi slammed her fist on the podium and demanded that Republicans agree either agree to her bill filled with permanent pork or she was just going to adjourn the House for its scheduled recess next week. Shortly after, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that the Senate would cancel its recess and remain in Washington to deal with issues related to the virus and the economic fallout.

Thus, Pelosi seems to have reached peak depravity here, exploiting a national panic that she and her fellow Democrats in and out of the corrupt news media worked hard to create for her own gain and the gain of the corporate lobbyists who have helped to make her such a fabulously wealthy person. This seems to me to be the moment she has attained peak depravity. But then again, every time I think that’s the case, and she cannot possibly get any worse, she goes out and surprises me.

You all can judge for yourselves.

That is all.

Boom: Trump Signals FISA Bill Veto

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

As congress works to pass a renewal of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, President Trump issued a tweet this morning that indicates he is seriously considering a veto:

The tweet comes as the Senate takes up the House version of the reform bill, a version that contains changes to the law that most conservatives consider to be wholly inadequate. Senators Mike Lee and Rand Paul made it clear on Wednesday afternoon that they would work to kill any effort by the Senate to pass the House version without amendments mandating further reforms.

From a Politico report on the matter:

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) said Wednesday that he’ll do all he can to block the House’s legislation to reform surveillance laws and is pushing President Donald Trump to veto it.

Lee’s move could sink efforts to renew provisions in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which are expiring March 15. Lee and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) are pushing for several changes to the law not currently included in the House’s version.

Paul said Wednesday that he is pushing for an amendment stating that “FISA warrants can’t be used on Americans and no information gathered in the FISA court can be used to convict an American.”

Meanwhile, Lee said he is actively trying to get enough votes to block the House bill from advancing in the Senate.

“There are a lot of procedural tools at our disposal,” the Utah Republican said. “The rules and the clock are on our side here.”

The House bill comes a week after Senate and House Republicans met with President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr to discuss FISA reform. At the meeting, the president made clear that he would not support a clean extension of the expiring surveillance provisions and told lawmakers to come back to him once they reach a bipartisan deal. The president has criticized FISA after authorities used it to monitor an associate of his 2016 presidential campaign.

A senior administration official said Wednesday that “there are a lot of FISA improvements in the proposal that are wins for the president and conservatives who believe FISA was significantly abused and needed major reform.” Barr is also supportive of the proposal.

So, the President’s tweet indicates he is considering a veto despite the position taken by the Attorney General, which is no surprise. After all, the increasingly Swampy-looking Barr initially advocated the passage of a “clean” renewal with no amendments, an extraordinary position for him to take in light of the rampant abuse of the FISA law that took place during the Obama years and into the first year of the Trump Administration.

With the FISA law set to expire on March 15, expect a flurry of activity to take place around it in the coming hours and days.

That is all.
