There may be a Larger Agenda at Play Here

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

“There’s something happenin’ here. What it is ain’t exactly clear.” – Not trying to raise alarm here, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that there may be some larger agenda taking place in our society behind the scenes that has not yet risen to the surface.

The government’s response to the China Virus, so oversized when compared to its responses to H1N1 and other previous virial plagues, indicates that either we are not being told the entire truth about this current virus, or that something else is driving this train.

The manner in which the national media worked in overdrive during February to create a national panic cannot be discounted as a motivator of the government’s decision to literally shut down 75% of the U.S. economy in an unprecedented attempt to control the spread. But does that really explain it all? The destruction of wealth we have witnessed in just the past few weeks is astonishing, as millions have lost jobs and businesses and seen their retirement funds decimated.

If this was, as we were initially told, just a two-week effort to control the spread, then a quick recovery might be in the offing. But as this past week progressed, the estimates of timelines began to extend as the measures by state and federal governments became more draconian. The states of California, New York and Illinois are either now or will soon be 100% shelter in place mode with people allowed outside their homes for only a few exceptions. More states will no doubt follow within days.

Policing these shelter-in-place orders will require the activation of state National Guard units, and we can see the Administration already making plans to acquiesce to pressure from various governors – like New York’s Andrew Cuomo – to activate Army units to assist.

Certainly, the justification for such measures of trying to avoid overwhelming our hospitals and medical supplies/equipment is a reasonable objective. But if we create a 25% unemployment rate and skyrocketing poverty and homelessness in the process, thousands more Americans will die in the coming months not from the Chinese Flu, but from inability to feed themselves or obtain proper medical care.

If we had seen this kind of government reaction to the H1N1 outbreak in 2009/10, when Barack Obama waited until 60,000 were infected and over 1,000 dead before really doing much of anything, then all of this would be understandable. But obviously, we did not see that then, in part because the lapdog media never questioned anything Saint Barack ever did or said.

As much as I like and trust President Trump to protect the American people above all else, there can be no denying at this point that we are literally turning our country into a police state and destroying a massive slice of our economy in order to limit the spread of this virus. We are told that this is all temporary, but how temporary it all is just keeps becoming less and less temporary with every passing day.

Something bigger is in play here. What it is ain’t exactly clear, yet, but we will know soon enough. Again, this is not to raise alarm – I can think of several potential scenarios that would actually be positive developments in the long run.

Be careful. Be safe. Protect your loved ones. Pay careful attention to what the President is telling you and no attention at all to CNN or the New York Times.

That is all.

What is Anthony Fauci’s Real Agenda?

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

These are not the polls the corrupt news media was hoping to see. Not at all. – After two solid weeks of the corrupt news media and prominent Democrats parroting the talking points of the communist Chinese government, the public is obviously grown weary of the nonsense. No one with a normal, functioning brain believes that the terms “Chinese flu” or “China virus” that President Donald Trump likes to use are in any real way “racist.” They simply – and accurately – identify the source of the virus that is killing thousands of people all over the world.

The public’s weariness of the tiresome media/Democrat narrative is now showing up in polling data, with no fewer than four new national polls this past week showing strong majorities of Americans pulling together to reject the narrative and approving of the President’s handling of the crisis. In the two most recent polls, taken this week as the media focus on this non-issue reached a fever pitch, the majority margin is now in double digits.

A new ABC/Ipsos poll released early on Friday shows the approve/disapprove ratio at 55% to 43%, and a new poll from Morning Consult released on Friday afternoon pegs the margin at a whopping 53% to 39%.

The corrupt media petulance moved into the silly season at Friday’s Coronavirus Task Force press conference. The questioning became so absurd that even the normally composed Dr. Anthony Fauci, a 40+ year veteran of such events, snapped at the media twice for reporters’ efforts to mischaracterize some of his own comments.

Unfortunately, though, Fauci’s own comments – intentionally downplaying the potential for hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus – ended up playing a dominant role in the presser.

The President’s most notable confrontation of the Friday event came with inveterate jackass MSNBC reporter Peter Alexander, who decided it was his role to debate the POTUS on whether or not he was being “reassuring” enough to the American people.

Here’s a longer, unedited clip of the exchange, not the highly-edited one pretty much every TV outlet decided to run with later:

Transcript:

Alexander: What do you say to Americans who are scared, though, nearly 200 dead, 14,000 who are sick, millions, as you witness, who are scared right now. What do you say to Americans who are watching you right now who are scared?

Trump: I say that you are a terrible reporter. That’s what I say. [crosstalk]

Alexander: [badgering now] But what do you say…

Trump: I say that’s a very nasty question, and I think it’s a very bad signal that you’re putting out to the American people. The American people are looking for answers, and they are looking for hope. And you’re doing sensationalism, and the same with NBC and Comcast, I don’t call…

Alexander: [more badgering]

Trump: …I don’t call it Comcast, I call it Concast…[more badgering] let me just, for who you work…[more badgering] let me just tell you something: That’s really bad reporting, and you ought to get back to reporting instead of sensationalism. Let’s see if it [hydroxychloroquine] works: It might, and it might not. [more badgering] I happen to feel good about it, but who knows? I’ve been right a lot. Let’s see what happens.

[End]

Now, what had led up to this was really caused by Dr. Fauci, whose real agenda in all of this remains a matter that is still up in the air. Fauci, despite multiple peer-reviewed international studies – one of which we talked about in yesterday’s Campaign Update – indicating that hydroxychloroquine, a plentiful, well-known anti-Malaria treatment, is highly effective in actually curing coronavirus, had just finished his own statement during which he severely downplayed the potential for that drug to help in this pandemic, choosing instead to focus on new drugs that are in the development phase.

Several things are important to note here:

  1. Fauci is a life-long bureaucrat, and it is the nature of bureaucrats to protect their own turf and always seek to expand it. His remarks were entirely consistent with this professional outlook.
  2. Those new drugs stand to make billions for American Big Pharma in the context of this plague.
  3. Profits from mass production and distribution of a well-known, pre-existing drug like hydroxychloroquine would be far, far less. And,
  4. The use of an already-approved, well-known drug denies federal bureaucrats the opportunity to gum up the process and claim credit.

So, what is Fauci’s real motivation here? Is he just another turf-protecting bureaucrat who is being influenced by corporations and their lobbyists? It certainly happens. But to his credit, Fauci did come back to the podium later and lecture the reporters in the room for overstating his previous remarks.

Another concern about Fauci surfaced on Friday, this in the form of a letter he sent to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after her shamefully dishonest Benghazi-related testimony before the House Intelligence Committee in 2013. Here is the text of that email, which can best be characterized as a love letter, found yesterday in the files of WikiLeaks:

From your doctor admirer From: Fauci, Anthony (NIH/NIAID) [E]

Sent: Wednesday, January 23, 2013 6:10 PM

To: Mills, Cheryl D

Subject: Today’s performance

Cheryl: Anyone who had any doubts about the Secretary’s stamina and capability following her illness had those doubts washed away by today’s performance before the Senate and the House. She faced extremely difficult circumstances at the Hearings and still she hit it right out of the park. Please tell her that we all love her and are very proud to know her.

Warm regards, Tony

Anthony S. Fauci, MD

Director National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases

Building 31, Room 7A-03

31 Center Drive, MSC 2520

National Institutes of Health Bethesda, MD 20892-2520

Phone: (301) 496-2263 FAX: (301) 47-4409 E-mail: afauci

[End]

My goodness. “Please tell her we all love her”? Really???

At best, this letter and his remarks at Friday’s press conference show lack of judgment and situational awareness on Dr. Fauci’s part. At worst, well, let’s hope the worst case scenario is not in play, because lives are literally at stake.

Bottom line, it is best to treat everything this guy says with a very skeptical ear.

That is all.

Why Senator Richard Burr May be in Deep Doo-doo

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Congress’s seamy underbelly floats up to the surface. – On his Fox News show last night, host Tucker Carlson lambasted Senator Richard Burr – chairman of the corrupt Senate Intelligence Committee – and demanded his resignation for off-loading millions of dollars in stock investments immediately after learning of the threat of the coronavirus.

Here’s a clip, followed by a transcript:

Transcript:

You may have seen the news reports this afternoon that the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee sold more than a million dollars in stock in mid-February after learning how devastating the Chinese coronavirus could be. He had inside information about what could happen to our country – which is now happening – but he didn’t warn the public. He didn’t give a prime-time address. He didn’t go on television to sound the alarm.

He didn’t even disavow  the op/ed he’d written just 10 days before, claiming that America was “better prepared than ever for coronavirus.” He didn’t do any of those things. Instead, what did he do? He dumped his shares in hotel stocks so he wouldn’t lose money, and then he stayed silent.

Now, maybe there’s an honest explanation for what he did; if there is, he should share it with the rest of us immediately. Otherwise, he must resign from the Senate and face prosecution for insider trading. There is no greater moral crime than betraying your country in a time of crisis, and that appears to be what happened.

[End]

Now, that’s all great: I have long been a critic of Burr, a useless RINO who has used his chairmanship of the Senate Intel Committee to literally cover up crimes committed against the Trump Campaign and Administration by the Obama-era coup cabal within the DOJ and the Intelligence Community. If he did engage in insider trading then he should resign and be prosecuted.

But let’s be honest here: If you think Burr is the only member of congress who has engaged in this kind of action over the past couple of months, you live in a fairy tale world.

The New York Times ran a report yesterday documenting similar actions by several other senators, including Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), Jim Inhofe (R-OK) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA). That report is based on financial disclosure statements that members of congress must periodically file. Members are regularly tardy in filing these disclosures, and you can bet the shrinking balance in your 401(k) that we will soon discover that many more members did the same thing.

Some members, when they assume office, shield themselves from this kind of accusation by placing such investments in blind trusts, giving them the plausible deniability of saying that they take no active part in managing their investments. Inhofe, Feinstein and Loeffler all claim that is the case with their investments.

Interestingly, no one from Sen. Burr’s office has made a similar claim at this point. Here’s the statement his spokesperson put out yesterday evening:

“His message has always been, and continues to be, that we must be prepared to protect American lives in the event of a pandemic or bio-attack,” Caitlin Carroll, a spokeswoman for Mr. Burr, said in a statement. “Since early February, whether in constituent meetings or open hearings, he has worked to educate the public about the tools and resources our government has to confront the spread of coronavirus.”

Burr himself took to Twitter to issue a series of tweets about an NPR report covering a speech he made to a group of constituents in February, warning them of the potential impacts of coronavirus on the U.S. economy. Nowhere in those tweets does he attempt to defend his stock divestments.

If Burr does play an active role in managing his own trading, then this is a real problem for him, and helps to explain why Carlson went after him last night, but gave the others a pass.

That is all.

America Must Disentangle Itself From China

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Never let a good crisis go to waste. – If the China virus produces no other positive outcome, at least it has clearly demonstrated to anyone with functioning synapses in their cranial cavities that our country can no longer afford to be entangled in any real way with the Chinese communist government. Let’s look at just some of the reasons why:

In a globalist world, secrecy kills. – Communist governments by their very nature are dishonest and secretive. They must take so many repugnant actions in order to exert control over the masses, actions that they can never allow civilized nations to see if they are to be allowed entre’ to global markets. As Axios detailed in a story Wednesday evening, the ChiComs’ secretive nature where coronavirus is concerned has had a devastating impact on the global economy and threatens to cost hundreds of thousands of human lives.

From the Axios story:

Axios has compiled a timeline of the earliest weeks of the coronavirus outbreak in China, highlighting when the cover-up started and ended — and showing how, during that time, the virus already started spreading around the world, including to the United States.

Why it matters: A study published in March indicated that if Chinese authorities had acted three weeks earlier than they did, the number of coronavirus cases could have been reduced by 95% and its geographic spread limited.

This timeline, compiled from information reported by the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the South China Morning Post and other sources, shows that China’s cover-up and the delay in serious measures to contain the virus lasted about three weeks.

[End]

That’s right: 95% of what you are seeing happening today in America and the rest of the world is directly the result of ChiCom dishonesty and secrecy. There simply must be a price to be paid for this level of mendacity.

ChiCom money corrupts other countries. – You can start this with the activities of Joe and Hunter Biden related to China while Quid Pro Joe was Vice President and Obama’s “point man” for China policy. Joe takes Hunter on a trip with him to China, and a week later Hunter’s fledgling firm secures $1.5 billion in Chinese largesse. If you don’t think this rank influence peddling corrupted Biden’s decision making related to U.S. foreign policy, I don’t even know what to say to you.

Then you have the way in which Chinese investments in American media operations have turned half of the White House press corps into blatant ChiCom stooges. After a reporter for OAN, Chanel Rion, asked President Trump how he feels about so many of her colleagues basically parroting ChiCom propaganda in their corrupt reporting yesterday, she was mercilessly harassed by those same colleagues for the rest of the day. After harassing Rion, those corrupt reporters then turned back to parroting ChiCom talking points.

Make no mistake about this: The content and tenor of what these “reporters” put onto the airwaves is dictated from the top down in these corrupt news organizations. Most, if not all of those corporations are heavily entangled with and dependent upon ChiCom money, and money talks, with these corrupt reporters serving as the mouthpiece. This is why you see these people react so emotionally every time President Trump correctly refers to this current plague as a virus that originated in China.

Supply chains are the economy’s life’s blood. – The one saving grace of our financial entanglements with China is that China’s economy is even more reliant on American money than vice versa. When we are more dependent on a communist country for pharmaceuticals and antibiotics than we are dependent on the Middle East for oil, we are enormously vulnerable as a country. Were China not so reliant on U.S. money, we would probably already be suffering from interruptions in pharmaceutical supplies. This cannot be allowed to stand.

It is an act of outright insanity to allow the very health of our citizens to be in the hands of a communist government. This must change, and this crisis affords the President and members of congress who aren’t also in the pockets of the ChiComs the opportunity to force the change. We need new regulations requiring the entire supply chains of critical goods like pharmaceuticals to be contained within our borders.

Here’s the good news. – The entire Trump economic plan from Day 1 has been designed to gradually force the decoupling of the U.S. economy from China. A big part of making America great again is to bring U.S. manufacturing, U.S. supply chains and U.S. jobs back home from China and other parts of the world. This is what Trump’s trade and tariff policies have been working to achieve.

Now, we have this crisis, caused entirely by ChiCom dishonesty and secrecy, that gives the President an opening to accelerate that process. It seems increasingly likely that setting the stage for taking some aggressive action in this realm is why the President has been so focused on making sure everyone understands that China brought this problem to our shores. The ChiComs understand this, which is why they and their corrupt media toadies in the U.S. have responded to the President’s use of the term “Chinese virus” in such panicked tones.

This is what Donald Trump promised to do throughout his campaign for the presidency, and this is one of the main things we elected him to do. No president in American history has been so myopically focused on keeping the promises made during his campaign as Trump has been.

Decoupling from China is an enormous challenge, but Donald Trump has proved repeatedly throughout his adult life that enormous challenges are his favorite kind.

That is all.

Watch: Stanford Med School Spokesman Announces Peer-Reviewed China Virus Cure [Updated]

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Why is this not bigger news? – Gregory Rigano, an advisor to the Stanford School of Medicine, told Tucker Carlson on Fox New last night that French scientists have released a peer-reviewed study indicating that a very cheap anti-Malaria drug called chloroquine produced a 100% cure to the Chinese coronavirus in a test involving 40 patients.

Watch this clip, followed by a transcript:

Carlson: Fortunately there is some good news to report on that front tonight. Early evidence suggests that chloroquine, a cheap anti-Malaria drug, may be effective in treating coronavirus. Gregory Rigano is an advisor to the Stanford School of Medicine, and he joins us tonight. Thanks so much for coming on. So, tell us what this is and why you think it’s promising.

Rigano: The President has the authority to authorize the use of hydroxy chloroquine against the coronavirus immediately. He has cut more red tape at the FDA than any President in history. For example, in 2017, a new drug was approved for Muscular Dystrophy for a clinical trial that enrolled less than 15 patients and was generally uncontrolled in an open setting.

Hydroxy chloroquine has been on the market for over 50 years with a quality safety profile. I’m here to report that, as of this morning, a well-controlled, peer-reviewed study carried out by the most imminent infectious disease specialist in the world, Didier Raoult, PhD, out of the South of France, in which he enrolled 40 patients in a well-controlled, peer-reviewed study that showed a 100% cure rate against coronavirus.

The study was released this morning on my Twitter account, @RiganoESQ, as well as our most recent website, COVIDTrial.io. The study was recently accepted into the International Journal of anti-microbial agents.

Carlson: Obviously, I only know what you’re telling me. But I do know that it’s very unusual for a study of anything to produce results of 100%. That’s remarkable, isn’t it? Or am I missing something?

Rigano: That is remarkable. In fact, to be able to cure a virus was said to be mathematically impossible, and the first company that did it was a small biotech called Pharmacet that was acquired by Gilead Sciences. They cured Hepatitis C. What we’re here to announce is the second cure to a virus of all time.

Carlson: Well, that’s remarkable. Of course, it’s our job to be skeptical of all and any claims; however, I very much want to believe this and I think we very much need immediately to run it down. The administration needs to find out if this is true. If the, if it is, that’s the biggest news of this moment. So, I’m so grateful that you announced that on this show, and I hope we are hearing a lot about it very soon.

[End]

Rigano’s statement speaks for itself. As mentioned above, the study results can be found at this link.

Interestingly, as I was typing this up, Dr. Mark Seigel appeared on Fox Business with Stuart Varney and noted that other clinical trials taking place in South Korea and other Asian countries are producing similar results to Dr. Raoult’s work.

Folks, if this turns out to be a real, true cure, you can count on President Donald Trump to cut through all the FDA bureaucratic job-preservation bullshit and make certification for the use of this drug quickly available to the American medical community, and use federal resources to work to ensure it is available in the needed quantities. Be happy he’s your President, because any Democrat would fart around with it based on the advice coming from his experts for a year before it would come available.

Pray this is real – it could save literally millions of lives.

UPDATE: The UK Daily Express carried a report yesterday on the South Korea tests using chloroquine:

Published on March 13 this year, the study claims to examine guidelines issued by China and South Korea on the effectiveness of chloroquine as an antiviral remedy.

Chloroquine is a medicine used to prevent and treat malaria in those parts of the world where the mosquito-carried disease is a danger to life.

Mr Musk said he received the drug when he suffered from malaria.

He tweeted: “Yes, I received chloroquine via central line through my chest & both arms.

“Had near fatal case of falciparum. Would’ve died for sure if not for chloroquine.

“Doesn’t mean it works for C19, but maybe better than nothing.”

The drug has been in use around the globe since 1945.

A summary of the study reads: “Recent guidelines from South Korea and China report that chloroquine is an effective antiviral therapeutic treatment against Coronavirus Disease 2019.

Use of chloroquine (tablets) is showing favourable outcomes in humans infected with Coronavirus including faster time to recovery and shorter hospital stay.

Maybe worth considering chloroquine for C19

Elon Musk on Twitter

“US CDC research shows that chloroquine also has strong potential as a prophylactic (preventative) measure against coronavirus in the lab, while we wait for a vaccine to be developed.”

From Kung Flu to Bat Virus, The Corrupt Media Beclowns Itself One More Time

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Just when you thought the corrupt, fake news media could not possibly become any more corrupt or fake than it already was, they go and prove you wrong. – As President Donald Trump and his administration mobilize the entirety of the federal government in the fight to contain the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus, he and his task force members are doing everything they can to keep the public informed. Simply put: Our country is now on a war footing, regardless of anyone’s opinion about whether or not such measures are actually justified.

The President and his team hold press conferences at least once every day, often twice or even more, as a part of this effort. During a time like this, any patriotic American who cares about this country and our fellow citizens would hope that people who hold themselves out to be “news reporters” would focus their questioning on actual news-related stuff, and do their best to leave their leftist political correctness and active grudges against the President secured away in the enormous fanny packs in which all their rage-filled grudges are stored.

Well, you can hope that, but you would be disappointed if you did. Take the raging nitwit below as a prime example of a corrupt reporter using yesterday’s televised press conference as an excuse to grandstand her own grudge against President Trump and his ongoing, 100% accurate use of the term “Chinese virus” to describe what he is fighting:

Reporter (no idea who she might be): “Ok, why do you keep calling this the Chinese virus? There are reports of dozens of incidents of bias against Chinese Americans in this country. Your own aide, Secretary Azar, says he does not use this term because ethnicity does not cause the virus. Why do you keep using this? A lot of people say it’s racist?”

President Trump: “It’s not racist. It’s not racist at all, no. Not at all. It comes from China. That’s why. It comes from China. I want to be accurate. I have great love for all of the people from our country. But, as you know, China tried to say at one point – maybe they’ve stopped now – that it was caused by American soldiers. That can’t happen. It’s not going to happen, not as long as I’m President. It comes from China.”

[End]

Now, about those “dozens of incidents of bias against Chinese Americans,” which this reporter wants people to believe were somehow caused by the President correctly identifying where this virus originated: Most likely almost all such reports – assuming they even exist anywhere outside of this reporter’s mind – are false. Possibly all of them made up by leftist activists pursuing their political agenda, an Alinsky tactic that Democrats and their media toadies use all the time.

Do idiots exist in our society who exercise bias against Chinese Americans? Sure. There are idiots in our society who exercise bias against all races, colors and religions in America. No society of 339 million people can ever be free from the acts of idiots.

This reporter is one of those idiots, exercising her rage-filled bias against a President trying to get accurate information to the American people. And she wasn’t even the worst example from yesterday’s press conference – check out this raging clown show:

Reporter (Again, no earthly idea who she is): “There’s reporting that the federal government has a plan that shows this coronavirus outbreak might last as long as 18 months – are you seeing those numbers?

President: “No, I’m not seeing that at all.”

Reporter: “And my second question is, there are some, at least one White House official who used the term ‘Kung flu’, referring to the fact that this virus started in China. Is that acceptable? Is it wrong? Are you worried that, that having this virus be, be talked about as a Chinese virus, that that might …

President: “I wonder who said that. Do you know who said that?”

Reporter: “That, I’m not sure the person’s name, but would you condemn the fact …”

President: “Say the term again.”

Reporter [clearly lying]: “Th, um, a person at the White House used the term ‘Kung flu'”…

President: “Kung flu.”

Reporter: “My question is, do you think that’s wrong – Kung flu – and do you think using that term Chinese virus, that puts Asian Americans at risk?”

President: “No, not at all. No, not at all. I think they probably would agree with it 100%. It comes from China.”

[End]

You seriously could never make this up, folks. In the middle of a national emergency, an emergency that is going to end up ultimately killing hundreds, if not thousands of Americans, all these tiny-brained “journalists” can focus on is political correctness. If these people had been alive on D-Day, they would have used their time to chastise FDR for someone in the White House using the term “kraut”, or maybe for using unfair stereotypes to demonize Herman Goehring.

It is a stunning display of not only inexcusable, pervasive bias in the American media, but also of what can only be called rank stupidity. These reporters are just plain stupid people who have no sense of priority.

But hey, in case anyone is sitting there thinking I’m picking on the women, fear not: The award for absolute dumbest, most brain-dead corrupt reporter take of the day goes to Richard Engel of NBC News:

*sigh*

The American media is garbage. Smelly, rancid, putrid garbage.

That is all.

Trump is Right About China, and has Been for Decades

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

Can we all admit now that Trump was right about China? – Donald Trump, both as private citizen and later as President, has been warning about the dangers of U.S. entanglement with and reliance upon the communist government in China for decades. While globalist presidents like the Bushes, Clinton and Obama were running the country, those warnings went unheeded while America opened its borders and its economy to Chinese goods and citizens.

During the 28 years of those four presidencies, our country also made the conscious decision to allow its manufacturing infrastructure to be largely dismantled and shipped mainly to China and other Asian nations so that U.S. corporations could exploit the vastly cheaper labor forces in that part of the world. Those presidencies compounded the destruction of America’s blue-collar jobs by entering into trade deal after trade deal that allowed the ChiComs to levy heavy tariffs on American goods while Obama, Clinton and the Bushes refrained from retaliating in-kind, all in the name of “free trade” and “open markets.”

U.S. policy – and similar policies implemented by European democracies towards the Panda – allowed China to emerge from 19th-century backwardness into a global economic power, a planned outcome that Western leaders hoped would make the ChiCom government a more responsible player on the world stage. America’s globalist presidents played this fool’s game for so long and to such an extent that now, as the world attempts to grapple with an exotic viral pandemic that without any question at all originated in Wuhan, China, the U.S. finds itself dependent on China for an astonishing 96% of its supply of antibiotics and pharmaceuticals.

Let me put that into some perspective for you: Americans from all walks of life have for decades complained about the fact that our country has been so heavily-reliant on the Middle East and other foreign sources of crude oil. In the wake of a couple of oil shocks caused by OPEC in 1977, President Jimmy Carter became so fearful of this reality that he actually said it constituted a national emergency and went about implementing all manner of incredibly stupid and non-productive energy policies as a result.

At that time, America was importing roughly 1/3rd of its daily oil needs from other countries. Yes, 1/3rd – that is not one of my many typos.

At its absolute peak around 2005-2006, the U.S. imported no more than about 65% of its oil consumption. Today, thanks to the Shale revolution of the last decade, the percentage is below 25% on most days. With all the demand destruction now being caused by the Wuhan viral outbreak, that percentage will fall dramatically in the weeks to come.

But pharmaceuticals and anti-biotics are different – we’re going to be needing more, much more of them in order to properly deal with this China-caused pandemic, and, thanks to all that wonderful globalism practiced by Trump’s four predecessors, we now find ourselves almost entirely reliant upon China to supply them.

The great Victor Davis Hanson has a piece in the National Review this morning that vividly documents exactly how the dishonesty of the communist Chinese government caused the viral outbreak in Wuhan to become a global pandemic. Here’s an out-take from it:

Sometime in late November the Chinese Communist Party apparat was aware that the ingredients of some sort of an epidemic were brewing in Wuhan. Soon after, it was also clear to them that a new type of coronavirus was on the loose, a threat they might have taken more seriously given the similar Chinese origins of the prior toxic SARS coronavirus and the resources of a Level 4 virology lab nearby.

Yet the government initially hid all that knowledge from its own people in particular and in general from the world at large. Translated into American terms, that disingenuousness ensured that over 10,000 Chinese nationals and foreigners living in China flew every day on direct flights into the United States (Washington and California especially) from late November to the beginning of February, until the Trump travel ban of January 31.

All this laxity was also known to the Communist apparat in Beijing, which must have been amused when Trump was roundly damned by his liberal critics as a xenophobe and racist for finally daring to stop the influx on January 31 — the first major leader to enact such a total ban.

To the degree that we are suffering death and economic hurt from COVID-19, we can also attribute the toll to the Chinese Communist Party. Had it just called in the international medical community in late November, instituted early quarantines, and allowed its own citizens to use email and social media to apprise and warn others of the new disease, then the world and the U.S. would probably not have found themselves in the current panic. The reasons China did not act more responsibly may be inherent in communist governments, or they may involve more Byzantine causes left to be disclosed.

China will rue what it begat.

That is, it will come to appreciate fully that the supposed efficiency, ruthlessness, and autocracy of the Communist Party — what had so impressed foolish American journalists who once marveled at Beijing’s ability to enact by fiat liberal pet projects such as high-speed rail and solar industries — were China’s worst enemies, ensuring that the virus would spread and that China’s international reputation would be ruined.

The coronavirus could be the straw that breaks the proverbial back of the Chinese camel, stooped under the recent weight of a trade war with the U.S., the revelation of 1 million Uighurs in reeducation camps, the crackdown on Hong Kong democracy protesters, and news of the sprawling Chinese internal-surveillance apparat. The world is now both terrified and put off by China, and such anathemas will only harm its already suspect and misbegotten Silk Road neocolonial schemes.

[End]

Trump has been right about China all along: Right to warn of the foolishness of our growing entanglement and dependency on them; right to warn of the dangers of growing Chinese communist hegemony in other parts of the world; right to warn of the dangers of allowing Chinese interests to take ownership positions in major U.S. corporations, especially media operations; right to engage in his tariff war to level the economic playing field; right to implement the travel ban as soon as the experts advised him to do so.

For all of its economic reforms of the past 30 years, China remains a communist government, and communist governments as a class are secretive, dishonest and cannot be trusted by the international community. If the Wuhan coronavirus creates no other positive outcomes, at least it has reminded us all that this immutable reality of life on planet earth has not changed.

Trump was right. Again.

That is all.

Society Must Find a Way to Hold the Corrupt Media Accountable (Updated)

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

One of the most frustrating aspects of living in the time of Trump is the utterly corrupt nature of 98% of our national news media, and the inability – or outright refusal – of anyone in a position of authority to hold these miscreants accountable for their misdeeds against our society.

Journalism as a profession is pretty much dead in America today, as the corporate-owned media outlets have abandoned all pretense of objectivity and discarded anything resembling what one used to refer to as journalistic ethics in a mad rush to attract clicks to failing websites  and help bring down a President of the United States of whom they do not approve. We live in a situation today in which it has become impossible to trust anything that goes out over the air on cable and broadcast TV networks, or is printed in the pages of the New York Times, Washington Post or the nation’s other big city newspapers.

With the American political left – which essentially owns the country’s journalism schools – having long ago discarded the entire concept of objective truth, citizens are left to fend for themselves in trying to sift through wave after wave of rank disinformation and political narratives in their daily quest to figure out what is really going on. When this happens in the context of elections, it corrupts our political process. When it happens in the context of a national emergency – as it is today – it can costs human lives.

In either event, the absence of a real, working and accountable media establishment serving its intended role as the public’s watchdog represents a true existential threat to our ability to continue to exist as a free society. If we cannot find some way to hold these people to account for their intentional acts to misinform the public, then it’s just a matter of time before the whole thing implodes.

Let’s look at a couple of examples of corrupt journalists engaging in intentional efforts to misinform the public on Monday. First, there is this from Jack Shafer, a corrupt reporter from the reliably leftwing “news” site, Politico:

So, Jerome Adams is an American anesthesiologist and a vice admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps who currently serves as the Surgeon General of the United States:

Dr. Jerome Adams on coronavirus: Preparedness over panic, facts over fear

Brett Giroir is a four-star admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, who currently serves as the Assistant Secretary for Health under the Trump administration.

Deborah Birx is an American physician and diplomat who serves as the coronavirus response coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force.” Birx has served as Ambassador-at-Large and United States Global AIDS Coordinator since 2014.

Politico Reporter Takes Cheap Shots at the Outfits of Coronavirus Task Force | News Thud

Ms. Birx is widely hailed as one of the foremost experts in dealing with outbreaks of communicable diseases on the face of the earth. The qualifications and level of respect deserved by all three of these experts in their fields are obvious to anyone with a smidgen of a brain and personal integrity. But we are not talking about such a person here – we’re talking about a corrupt journalist, a guy who is employed by the similarly corrupt jackasses who own and run Politico.

Mr. Shafer’s tweets are obviously a malicious effort to smear these three experts and, more importantly from his perspective, minimize and reduce public confidence in their expertise and ability to deal with the coronavirus crisis. Think of it: This clown just reduced Ms. Birx’s entire career down to a snarky fashion statement.

If Michelle Obama had been wearing that exact same outfit, Shafer would have no doubt been blown away by how, like, totes awesome she looks or something. You know?

And if a conservative reporter working for Fox News had made such a snarky remark about the former First Lady he would have been pilloried by all the corrupt leftist journalists who hang out and snark on Twitter 24 hours a day. But because Shafer is a liberal who works for a reliably Democrat-shilling website, you can hear the crickets chirping.

Then there was this from Mara Gay, a member of the New York Times editorial board:

Well, golly, if the New York Times really did have a recording of that call, then Ms. Gay surely heard the rest of the President’s statement to the governors, which was:

“We will be backing you, but try getting it yourselves. Point of sales, much better, much more direct if you can get it yourself.”

Ms. Gay, incidentally, is the same nitwit who, in an appearance with Brian Williams on MSNBC last week, claimed that if Mike Bloomberg had taken the $500 million that he spent on TV ads and just distributed it to the American people, he could have given all of us “a million dollars.” The actual number, of course, is $1.53. This is the level of abject stupidity the New York Times allows onto its editorial board. And let’s be honest, the very fact that Brian Williams, a proven pathological liar, still has a job in the media proves the profession has zero accountability.

But in this instance, Ms. Gay goes from mere stupidity to outright mendacity, intentionally abbreviating the perfectly good advice the President conveyed to the nation’s governors in a blatant effort to convince her mindless Twitter followers that he is instead an uncaring beast. Again, if anyone on the Board at Fox News did something like this, they would be mercilessly smeared by the liberal outrage gang on Twitter, and likely fired. But because Ms. Gay is a liberal hack who works for the fellow liberal hacks who own and run the New York Times, she will pay no price for her overt attempt to smear the President of the United States.

This utter and complete lack of accountability for intentional efforts by corrupt journalists to sow panic and fear in our society is not acceptable, especially when people working in every other profession in America are held accountable for their own actions. The first amendment is not a license to lie, not a license to abuse the public trust.

If those in positions of authority at these and many other media outlets continue to refuse to hold their people accountable for their acts of outright mendacity, then either the government or society at large will at some point decide to do it for them. History tells us very clearly that, whenever any society reaches that particular point, things get very, very ugly indeed.

Someone in the corporate media had better wake up, and soon.

Update: The President answers Ms. Gay’s despicable misrepresentation of his remarks in this morning’s coronavirus update:

That is all.

Mueller Special Counsel Team Humiliated Again: Corrupt News Media Hardest Hit

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

So much for Russia, Russia, Russia. – Hey, remember when greasy Rod Rosenstein stood before the TV cameras and informed the nation that Gestapo Chief Herr Mueller and his band of Clinton/Obama thugs had found the source for all that “Russia collusion” that happened in our 2016 election? Yeah, good times, good times…

That was two and a half years ago, and in all that time, corrupt Justice Department prosecutors had made essentially no progress in the case, which in its essence alleged that a company called Concord Management and Consulting, LLC had spent a couple hundred thousand dollars on a bunch of social media ads designed to sow public division during the 2016 election cycle. Hell, Mini-Mike Bloomberg was spending 40 times that amount every damn day doing the same thing and no one from DOJ came after him.

But of course, the people at Concord are Russians and had no business trying to interfere in U.S. elections, regardless of how puny their investment allegedly was. And besides, the whole Mueller hoax was based on the myth of Russia colluding with the Trump Campaign, and Mueller’s thugs had to claim at least one Russkie scalp in order to keep the false narrative going.

So the disgusting Rosenstein stood there as the talking head for the American Gestapo, sniffing and slurping his way through his press conference, informing us that the brain trust of the evil Russian plot to waste $200,000 on Facebook ads and Twitter bots officed at the Moscow headquarters of Concord Managment, a firm no one in America had ever heard of. So, surely Americans would fall for the ruse, right?

Loyal readers here will remember that I told you on the very day Rosenstein held his presser that, even if Concord was guilty of what Rosenstein and Mueller’s thugs were alleging, a) their efforts made exactly ZERO difference in the 2016 presidential election, a fact that Rosenstein essentially admitted several times afterwards, and b) the DOJ would not be able to prosecute any charges against this Russian firm in any event unless the Russian government forced Concord to send its employees to America to face a judge and jury. Which was never going to happen, given the specious nature of the charges.

Well, guess what happened on Monday? That’s right: The corrupt DOJ lawyers who have bumbled and fumbled around with this idiotic case for a solid 30 months very predictably decided to drop all charges. Why? Well, golly, because they couldn’t get Concord or Putin to send any of those employees over here to face charges, and because DOJ decided it really couldn’t prove its case in any event.

From the Business Insider piece on the matter:

  • The Justice Department moved on Monday to drop its cases against 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities indicted as part the FBI’s investigation into Russian election interference.
  • In a court filing, prosecutors accused one of those companies or taking advantage of the US legal process to harm national security while ignoring its own legal obligations related to the case.
  • Notably, the filing also said the government decided to drop its case “particularly in light of recent events and a change in the balance of the government’s proof due to a classification determination,” in addition to other factors.

[End]

Oh. You don’t say.

So, the “Russia, Russia, Russia” hoax ends with a whimper, an event that will be barely mentioned by the same corrupt journalists and TV talking heads who spent three solid years screaming about it from their lofty perches in their neverending effort to take down a President of the United States. It ends because, at the end of the day, it was in fact a complete hoax and the DOJ had nothing to work with.

But our society has been irreparably damaged by the volume and intensity of false information coming from Democrat politicians and our corrupt news media on the matter, just as it is being irreparably damaged by all the false information being purveyed by the media related to the coronavirus.  The saddest part of it all is that Attorney General William Barr has to this point issued zero indictments of any of the outlaw DOJ and FBI officials who carried out the hoax, and that no one in our corrupt news media will be held in any way accountable for their efforts to support the plot.

The best we can hope for is a pox – or perhaps a virus – on all their houses. That would be real justice.

That is all.
