It Was Border Security Action Week at the White House

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

I had no idea this was a thing. – As I sit here writing this piece, Fox & Friends is carrying a report of a pregnant mother who got mad at her little kid when he popped her “gender reveal” balloon.  Yes, friends, there is apparently such a thing as “gender reveal” balloons.  The balloon in the video is a huge black thing that, when the little kid popped it, was revealed to be filled with pink confetti.

If I understand this “report” correctly, the young mother was on her way to an actual, real “gender reveal” party – which is also apparently a thing now – where the idea would be to pop the damn balloon and fill someone else’s home with that gross pink confetti as her means of letting everyone know she would be giving birth to a girl.  What, you couldn’t just send everyone an email?

My goodness.

Well, that escalated quickly. – In Thursday’s Campaign Update, I advised you all that the ordering of National Guard troops to help patrol the southern border would not be the only executive action President Trump would take to beef up border security.  One additional action I told you to expect him to take was to rescind the order by George W. Bush that implemented the so-called “catch and release” policy, which forces immigration officials to release illegal immigrants into the general population while they await a formal hearing, a hearing for which almost none of them actually show up.

It took the President exactly one day to fulfill that prediction, as he signed a memo last night ordering an end to this idiotic policy, and instructing Defense Secretary James Mattis to ” produce a list of military facilities that could be used to detain illegal immigrants.”  You can be sure the fake news media and Democrat Party already met overnight to crank out their “concentration camp” narrative to describe this new detention policy.  Because that’s what our fake news media does.

Friday was a very busy day with other efforts to beef up border security, as the Trump Administration acts to fill the gaping national security void left by a recalcitrant congress.  Attorney General Jeff Sessions directed U.S. attorneys in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California to prosecute all cases – not just the relative handful currently taken on – of illegal border crossers “to the extent practicable.”

This direction by the AG leaves much discretion up to the various U.S. attorneys, so we can anticipate the few remaining Obama holdovers in those states to ignore it, but it will no doubt result in increased enforcement of immigration laws, which will in turn certainly have a dampening effect on the number of attempted border crossings. When your country is literally being invaded, any action to increase security is a welcome one.

Naturally, though, the social justice warrior community was predictably outraged by the AG’s directive.   Cecillia Wang, a deputy legal director at the anti-American ACLU, was quoted as saying “This will be assembly-line justice, where large numbers of defendants are forced through the system without adequate time to consult counsel.”

Yeah, you know what?  I got no problem with that.  No problem at all.  Again, our country is being invaded by drug dealers, terrorists, and child- and sex-traffickers, and it is long past time the situation be taken seriously.  These are not U.S. citizens we are dealing with here.  These are invaders who knowingly and intentionally break our laws, and “assembly-line justice” is all the justice they’re entitled to.  More than they’re entitled to, actually.

In addition to that action by the Justice Department, the Departments of Homeland Security and Defense announced late Friday evening that the first 500 national guard troops, along with supporting equipment, vehicles and helicopters, are already on their way to their new border assignments.  To supplement the federal action, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced they’d be sending a combined 400 national guard troops to the border by their own orders.

New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez has not yet let it be known whether or not she will become part of the seditious “resistance” and work against the President’s plans to beef up border security, but California Governor Jerry Brown very predictably said he will not cooperate with any national guard deployments from his state.

Governor Brown’s gesture of opposition is ultimately a futile one, given that the POTUS has absolute authority to simply nationalize National Guard troops in any state and deploy them on his order.  But engaging in futile and seditious gestures is what California’s state government is all about these days, so no one was surprised by Brown’s latest unpatriotic announcement.  One can only hope Gov. Martinez will not lower her own state to the California standard.

Regardless, the Trump Administration’s actions to beef up border security without any help from congress this week have been swift and decisive.  And as the Campaign Update has predicted and chronicled throughout the week, they all started with a couple of presidential tweets last Saturday morning.

If you get your news from the mainstream fake news media, all of these actions came as a surprise to you, just as they came as a surprise to all the fake journalists.  Some things never change.

Just another day in fake news media America.

That is all.

Congress Won’t Defend America’s Borders, So President Trump Will Do it for Them

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Tired of all this Winning yet?  Part I – President Donald Trump’s job approval rating in the Rasmussen Survey – the most accurate poll throughout the 2016 campaign season – rose again on Wednesday, to 51%.  On the same date in his first term in office, Barack Obama’s approval rating stood at 46%.  The new poll result caused enraged fake reporters and social justice warriors’ heads to explode across the country.

Tired of all this Winning yet?  Part II – The Trump economy continued to roar, with the ADP/Moody’s private sector survey of payrolls showing that 241,000 jobs were added in February, well above the expectation of 205,000.  The rapid creation of private sector jobs, along with the tax cuts taking effect in people’s paychecks, most likely has a lot to do with the President’s strong job approval.  Go figure.

Formerly amusing late-night comic Jimmy Kimmel used part of his monologue Wednesday night to mock First Lady Melania Trump’s accent, as he played a tape of her reading a book to children at the White House Easter Egg Roll.  No one could confirm whether or not the First Lady responded by calling him a simpleton in each and every one of the five languages that she speaks fluently, but she should have.

As the caravan of Honduran “refugees” began to dissolve south of Mexico City on Wednesday, President Trump signed an executive order sending national guard troops to patrol the Southern border, saying the action is necessary since congress refuses to act to change the country’s idiotic open borders immigration rules.

Following the signing, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told reporters that her department would be working with state officials in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California to activate and deploy the guard personnel and equipment that will be assigned to the border.  That was all expected.

What came next, though, was somewhat surprising to the fake journalists at the presser.  In response to a question about the President’s recent comments that he might use the military budget to fund the building of his long-promised border wall, Sec. Nielsen said:

“What [Trump] meant is there are some lands that the Defense Department owns right on the border where we see illicit activity,” Nielsen said during a White House press briefing. “We’re looking into options for the military to build wall or military installations on the border.”

And so it begins.  Isn’t it ironic that Pueblas sin Fronteras, the radical open borders group that organized the caravan of Hondurans, has in fact provided Mr. Trump the justifying event for deploying the National Guard to the border – thus providing the enhanced border security congress refuses to fund – and which in turn is going to provide the pretext for using part of the beefed-up military budget for constructing at least part of a border wall?  Because that’s exactly what has taken place here since the President first began tweeting about the caravan on Saturday.

If you still buy into the fake news media/Democrat narrative that the President just belches random stuff out onto his Twitter feed while eating ice cream in bed with no plan in mind, well, there’s really not much anyone can do for you, is there?

By the way, if you’re thinking this is all Mr. Trump is going to do related to taking executive action to enhance border security, you might want to hold that thought.  One of the aspects of illegal immigration policy that the President has complained about in recent days is the so-called “catch and release” policy.

Under this policy – which we can lay at the feet of George W. Bush and Karl Rove, who began it – illegal immigrants who are caught coming across the southern border are briefly held while their personal information is recorded by border officials, and then just released on their own recognizance while awaiting a hearing before an immigration judge.  Obviously, the vast majority of these folks simply vanish into the interior of the country and never show up for said hearing.

This policy is not a part of immigration law.  It was created via an executive order by former President Bush, and happily continued throughout the Obama years.  While Mr. Trump has repeatedly criticized the policy, he has not taken action to rescind the Bush order, or to formally issue guidance to border officials to halt its enforcement.

It isn’t being reported anywhere in the fake news media right now, but there are two main reasons why Mr. Trump has kept this policy in place:

  • Absent the creation of more immigration judges, the illegals currently being released into the general population will have to be held, probably for months, in detention centers, and congress has failed to provide additional funding for the creation of more such judges; and
  • While the Obama Administration did for a time hold hundreds of illegal immigrants in such detention centers along the border – centers that still exist – the media studiously ignored reporting on them.  In a Trump Administration, we can bet the fake news media would focus on such centers every day in an effort to portray them as modern-day concentration camps.

To this point, the President has no doubt been convinced by his advisors not to take any action on “catch and release” for these reasons.  But it is obvious that Mr. Trump is now fed up with the current status quo, and is going to act on his own to enhance the nation’s border security in pretty much any way he can.

You should expect Mr. Trump to formally rescind the Bush order in the coming days, and then prepare yourselves for all the “concentration camp” stories that will become ubiquitous on CNN and the broadcast networks in the following weeks and months.  Because that is what the fake news media does.

Just another day in no more open borders America.

That is all.
