Bolton Out, Permanent War Crowd Angry. Cool.

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

National Security Advisor John Bolton claims he resigned today. – But the truth is almost certainly that he was fired, most likely because President Donald Trump became fed up with Bolton always playing George C. Scott’s General Turgidson character in the film Dr. Strangelove:

Turgidson: Mr. President, we are rapidly approaching a moment of truth, both for ourselves as human beings and for the life of our nation. Now, truth is not always a pleasant thing. But it is necessary now to make a choice, to choose between two admittedly regrettable, but nevertheless distinguishable, post-war environments: one where you got 20 million people killed, and the other where you got 150 million people killed!]

Muffley: You’re talking about mass murder, General, not war.

Turgidson: Mr. President, I’m not saying we wouldn’t get our hair mussed, but I do say no more than 10 to 20 million killed, tops! Uh, depending on the breaks.

Muffley: I will not go down in history as the greatest mass murderer since Adolf Hitler.

Turgidson: Perhaps it might be better, Mr. President, if you were more concerned with the American people, than with your image in the history books.

Here is what the President tweeted out about the matter earlier today:

It becomes tiresome, no doubt, to be constantly advised to just keep the wars going when you got elected based on a promise to start ending some of the damn wars. So, let’s nobody be surprised that the President ultimately got fed up and pulled the trigger, so to speak, on firing the White House spokesperson for the permanent war crowd.

Who leads that crowd, you ask? Well, to paraphrase the great Hans Gruber from Die Hard, “you ask me for the leader, I give you Mitt Romney”:

You should also expect your TV screens and social media news feeds to be filled with similar statements of outrage from the usual warmonger suspects like Bill Kristol, various writers at the National Review and of course, the presidential candidate you never heard of before last week, Joe Walsh.

Meanwhile, Senator Rand Paul, who supports the President’s vision of getting America out of these intractable Middle East and African conflicts, had this to say:

Ironically you will also no doubt see many of the very same Democrats and fake news media talking heads who slammed President Trump for hiring Bolton now also slam him for firing Bolton.

Oh, hey, here’s Democrat congressman Chris Murphy doing exactly that:

Finally, you will also see the fake news media who detest the President suddenly cast Bolton as the smartest guy in the room, a wise and seasoned advisor who everyone should now listen to, just as they have done with The Mooch in the past few weeks. I give it no more than 72 hours before either CNN or MSNBC gives Bolton a huge contract to be an on-air expert contributor.

Because that is who our fake news media is, and that is how they work.

That is all.

Two Toddlers Give us a Glimpse of America Outside of the Perpetual Outrage Mob

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

See? There is still justice in America. – If you were as outraged last year by the absurdly-light 30-day sentence handed down to the attacker of Senator Rand Paul, well, take heart: That case was remanded back to the federal district court that issued it yesterday by the 6th Circuit Court of appeals. The 6th Circuit ruled that the district judge lacked a “compelling justification” for the light sentence for the commission of an assault on a member of congress so brutal that Sen. Paul is still trying to recover fully from it.

The new Three Stooges: Sleepy, Sleazy and Dopey.

Image may contain: 3 people, people smiling, closeup

If Vaudeville – where the original Three Stooges got their start – still existed, these guys would be a huge hit.

This is what real America – as opposed to social media/conventional media perpetual outrage America – really looks like:

Those of us who pay close attention to the news and are active on social media tend to forget that. The merchants of perpetual outrage at places like CNN, the New York Times, Facebook and Twitter want you all to believe that America is this horrible place where everyone hates everyone else and where every day in every city is just another confrontation between Antifa terrorists and the Proud Boys agitators. Conventional media and social media outlets want you to believe that that is the world you all live in because that belief generates traffic to their websites and viewers to their TV channels.

That’s the America they’re all trying to create.

But real America is different, and the real America perseveres.

The real America is a place in which my wife and I could take our entire three-generation family to spend a week in New York City last December and never experience anything but lovely, pleasant interactions with people of all races, colors, religions and creeds in crowded places all over the city.

The real America is the place where you go to your grandkids’ elementary school for Grandparents’ Lunch day, and spend an hour watching hundreds of children of all races, economic standing and upbringings and dozens of teachers and school administrators do nothing but smile, laugh and dine with one another.

The real America is the place where you go to the local Wal-Mart or Target or grocery store and don’t for a moment notice or care what the race or political leanings of the people shopping and working there happens to be.

The real America is the place where tens of millions of people get up every morning and go to work and engage in all manner of collaborative efforts with people from all manner of backgrounds and ages and get real stuff done that generates economic growth and improves our society. And then they get a group of those same people together to go grab a beer when they’re done working.

The real America is the place where tens of millions of people still get up on the Sabbath and go to churches, synagogues and mosques in thousands of cities in all 50 states.

The real America is the place where millions of little kids like the two in that video run up and hug each other and express real, genuine love because that is their natural behavior. The people at ABC who posted that video on Twitter yesterday want you to think that is a rare thing, but it’s something you can see everywhere in America every day if you just pay attention.

The perpetual outrage and hate thrown at us every day by the conventional media and social media mobs are learned behaviors, not our natural state.

The real America is the place in which tens of millions of ordinary, every day people of all religions, all races, all colors, all social standings and all backgrounds refuse to learn those behaviors.

That real America drives the perpetual outrage mob nuts. Keep it up.

That is all.

Why Elizabeth Warren is now the Clear Favorite in the Democrat Race

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Well, President Donald Trump has yet another new “challenger.” – Complete with blaring headlines at the increasingly leftwing Drudge Report, South Carolina Congressman and former Governor Mark Sanford has decided to jump into the race. He joins former Massachusetts Governor William Weld and former Congressman Joe Not-the-Eagles-Singer Walsh as a kind of NeverTrump cordon of sacrificial lambs who I guess will try to raise money and run in the various caucuses and primaries.

All three of these guys are your basic circus clowns. Weld is an ultra-liberal Democrat in a Brooks Brothers suit who does stuff like this because he can’t find any legitimate work. Walsh is a talk radio host who no longer has a talk radio program. Sanford is the guy who ran out on his family with his Argentinian girlfriend for two weeks while serving as Governor, and then claimed to have been “hiking the Appalachian Trail” when he re-surfaced.

These are the guys who NeverTrump puppet masters like Bill Kristol and Mitt Romney believe are fit to wrest the GOP 2020 nomination away from a sitting President with an extraordinary record of success. You might do better running Larry, Curly and Moe. At least they’d be entertaining.

Fauxcahontas Rising. – Despite the ongoing best efforts by our fake national news media to cover for his increasingly obvious loss of his faculties, the nation’s Unfrozen Caveman Senator continues his slow fade in the polling data.

The latest bit of distressing news for Creepy Uncle Joe comes from the CBS News Battleground poll of early primary/caucus states. This poll attempts to measure voter attitudes in the 17 states that will take us through Super Tuesday next March 3. Those 17 states include Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina early on, and then conclude with both California and Texas in March.

Thus, it isn’t surprising that both Kamala Harris and Irish Bob O’Rourke land among the top 6 Democrats in overall support in these early states, given the massive presence of their respective home states. It is a little surprising how poorly those two fare overall, with Harris coming in at 8% support and O’Rourke barely registering at 4%.

But it’s the top of the rankings that really matters, and coming in at #1 in terms of overall voter support is not Joe Biden, but Fauxcahontas, the biggest fraud in the race. Which should surprise no one, given the historic Democrat voter preference for lifelong frauds like John Kerry, Al Gore, Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton to be the standard bearer for their party.

Little Mouth Always Running comes in at 26% support among the registered Democrats surveyed in these 17 early states, with Creepy Uncle Joe close behind (as he always seems to be with the nearest woman) at 25%. The Commie registers at 19% and Mayor Pete makes a cute little political sandwich in between Harris and O’Rourke, landing at 6%.

Those percentages are a little misleading, though, because the delegate count is what would really matter. CBS projects those numbers in this table:

delegates-overall.jpg

So, the Unfrozen Caveman Senator retains a slight edge in that measure, though far short of the 748 he would need to constitute a pace to win a first-ballot majority at the DNC Convention. And looky there: Amy Klobuchar jumps into the top 6 to replace Preacher Pete, who is nowhere to be seen.

In keeping with its campaign to prop up the Serial Gaffer, CBS leads its write-up on the poll by saying, “This poll tells a story of Elizabeth Warren rising. But not Joe Biden falling.” Which is, of course, abject nonsense.

Let’s go back to April, when Biden announced his candidacy. Then, he started this race with a huge, 20+ point lead in pretty much every poll, registering at or above the 40% level in all of them. In this new poll, just five months later, he’s down to 25% in the 17 states that will essentially decide the race for all intents and purposes, and now trailing a woman who has spent her entire adult life pretending to be someone she is not for professional and financial gain.

True, he is still doing slightly better in the national polls, where he’s averaging about 29% support in the RealClearPolitics average. And the lead he still owns is due strictly to two factors: Very strong support among African-Americans, who don’t much care for all the radical socialists in the race, and this perception that he’s the most electable candidate in a general election against President Trump.

That’s all well and good for now, but here’s Biden’s real problem: The Democrat voter base has become ultra-radicalized, and is not likely to ultimately settle for an elderly white guy (Biden will be closing in on 78 when the Democrat convention comes around next summer) who barely knows where he is most days. Those voters are also not going to settle for an old white guy who still goes around bragging about his old segregationist pals in the 1970s Senate, and who still tells off-color jokes that demean women, Blacks and gays.

Take a look at that RealClearPolitics average again, and add up the percentage of voters who are supporting the radical candidates like Warren, The Commie, Harris, Buttigieg, Yang and O’Rourke: Their support comes in right at 50% to Biden’s 29%. That’s where the heart of the Democrat Party really lies.

Throughout the 2015/2016 GOP nomination contest, I repeatedly advised readers and clients to add up the percentage of primary voters who weighed in their support on behalf of the party’s non-conventional candidates. I included Trump, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and Rand Paul in that category. It was absolutely stunning how consistently their total support came in right at 63% throughout 2015 and through the early primaries. As Carson, Fiorina and Paul left the race, basically all of their support base migrated right over to Trump or Cruz, and they ended up the two finalists in the race (I don’t count Kasich, who stuck around but had basically no real support).

That was where the heart of the GOP voter base was in 2016, and the radical left is where the heart of the Democrat voter base is for the 2020 race. As O’Rourke, Yang and Buttigieg drop out of the race, and The Commie and Harris fall away later on, their voters are going to coalesce not around Biden, but around Fauxcahontas. This is pretty much baked into the cake at this point. Elizabeth Warren is really the odds-on favorite to go into next year’s convention with the highest number of delegates as of today. The big question is whether or not she will be able to the majority required to win on the first ballot.

If you think I’m crazy and still believe that Biden is the big favorite because that’s what all the “experts” are telling you, take a look at history: Since 1968, the early favorite to win a contested Democrat nominating race has only prevailed one time, in 2000, when Al Gore, a sitting vice president, became the nominee.

All the momentum in this race today is with Warren, and it’s pretty hard to see anything that will stop it. Democrat voters love a good fraud, and there is no more accomplished, blatant fraud in the race than Fauxcahontas.

That is all.

Brexit’s Success is as Important to Donald Trump as it is to Boris Johnson

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Pay attention to Brexit. – While our fake U.S. news media establishment has spent the week obsessing over President Donald Trump making a mark on a map with a Sharpie, some major, real events have been taking place across the Great Pond, in jolly old England.

Ok, well, things aren’t exactly jolly in London right now, as a political war between the EU-captive elites and Brexit-favoring Prime Minister Boris Johnson has broken out into full public view. As we have seen in America with the “Never Trump” fake conservative subversives joining ranks with the radical, anti-Trump left, so are we now seeing the fake Torries unmasking themselves as the deceitful, compromised hacks they truly are. More than 20 of these EU useful idiots were ejected from the British conservative party this week for their failure to support Johnson’s efforts to affect a final Brexit from the EU by October, and several others resigned voluntarily, including Johnson’s own brother.

As you watch all of this play out, complete with video clips of the comical goings-on inside Parliament, it’s important to keep in mind that Brexit is in fact the law of the land in Britain, having been decided by direct election way back in the summer of 2016, an election that wasn’t really close. Yet, the party that was provided a majority to make it all happen keeps being sabotaged by the disloyal enemies within its midst.

Sounds a lot like the Republican Party, right? Right.

In reality, the ongoing debate over Brexit is a clear reflection of America’s debate over border security. While the U.S. does not have direct national elections over policy decisions, every poll ever taken on the border issue shows a vast majority of citizens favor strong action to secure the border with Mexico. There are no exceptions to this reality. Yet, when the GOP had majorities in both houses of congress and a President in the White House, all efforts to enact policy reforms to the nation’s immigration laws were scuttled by the disloyal enemies within its midst, including then-Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.

In the U.S. immigration debate, the EU is personified by the partnership between U.S. Chamber of Commerce and its giant corporate members who want to keep the flow of cheap labor coming into our country regardless of the ultimate political consequences, and the national Democratic Party, which will be the ultimate beneficiary of those political consequences. This is all crystal clear and really not debatable.

Athwart all of that mendacity yelling “stop!” you have President Trump, the American counterpart to PM Johnson. Interestingly, President Trump may well be able to play a significant role in resolving Johnson’s current inability to move Brexit to final fruition. That potential ability all comes down – as it does with China – to trade and tariffs.

Like China, the EU nations have enjoyed the financial and economic benefits of 74 years of American stupidity in the trade arena, placing all manner of tariffs and other trade roadblocks on U.S. goods while America did little or nothing to retaliate. Several of the EU nations, most obviously Germany, who have been major trading partners with China, are already experiencing the power of U.S. retaliatory tariffs in an indirect way. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her EU peers are no doubt already living in fear of what their lives would look like in the face of direct U.S. tariffs placed on their own countries’ products.

But here’s the thing: These disloyal British MPs who are refusing to allow Johnson to comply with the voters’ Brexit mandate are heavily tied in with and influenced by the EU, whether monetarily or otherwise. Given that, President Trump has the means to influence those MPs indirectly by – guess what? – announcing retaliatory tariffs on EU member country imports, exactly as he has done with China.

Mr. Trump might also tie those tariffs to a new, simultaneous trade deal with Great Britain – a concept he and PM Johnson have already publicly discussed – a move that could incentivize a mass relocation of manufacturing operations and jobs from continental Europe to the British Isles. Think about it.

The President fully understands, better than anyone else, that he and PM Johnson are two lonely warriors in the battle against open-borders globalism. The ultimate achievement of Brexit from the EU is a vitally important front in that battle.

Don’t be surprised at all if, at some point this month, you see the President announce a new round of tariffs not on China, but on the recalcitrant and abusive nations in the EU. Because Donald Trump always plays to win, and in this case, winning for America means Brexit, and Johnson, must win first.

That is all.

Democrats’ Climate Town Halls: A Direct Assault on Texas

Today’s Campaign Update, Part II
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

“On my first day as president, I will sign an executive order that puts a total moratorium on all new fossil fuel leases for drilling offshore and on public lands. And I will ban fracking—everywhere.” – Elizabeth Warren

I was asked by a radio host this week for my initial takeaway from CNN’s 7-hour marathon of Democratic Climate Change talking points that aired on September 4. My response was the only thing that came into my head: God help us if any of these people wins the election.

By “us” I mean the oil and gas industry, in which I spent a 38-year career, and everyone in Texas, where I’ve lived my entire life. Because the reality of that 7 hours of talking points by 10 leading contenders for the Democratic Party’s 2020 presidential nomination is that pretty much every idea advanced by the candidates was a direct assault on the industry’s continuing license to operate in the United States, and thus on the Texas economy.

The Texas economy has diversified significantly since the bad old days of the 1980s, when the oil bust collapsed the state’s savings and loan and banking industries and more Texans were out of work than anytime other than during the Great Depression. But despite that diversification, oil and gas still drives more economic growth here than any other business sector.

So, when you see every candidate on that stage – including Texans Julian Castro and Beto O’Rourke – call for the banning of “fracking,” you see a proposal that would throw the Texas economy immediately into a recession and toss tens of thousands of Texans out of work. When you see Kamala Harris and several others demonize the plastics industry, you see a direct attack on Texas, whose chemicals and plastics industry has boomed in the past decade, with hundreds of billions in new capital investments, thanks to cheap natural gas prices.

When you see Andrew Wang and others talk about banning internal combustion engines and forcing everyone to drive an electric vehicle, you see a direct attack on Texas, home to the nation’s largest refining industry. When you see Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden talk about the need to end the use of all fossil fuels in power generation, you see a direct attack on Texas, where natural gas powers more homes and businesses than all other fuel sources. Those attacks on natural gas are also attacks on the environment, given that U.S. carbon emissions have dropped to 1980s-levels in recent years thanks mainly to natural gas displacing coal in power generation.

The attacks on Texas and its economy were not limited to energy alone: Agriculture is the state’s second-most prevalent business. When you see Pete Buttigieg telling Americans that if they eat a hamburger, they’re part of the problem, you’re seeing a direct attack on Texas and its ranching industry.

When you see O’Rourke and others talk about the need to end “corporate farming,” you’re seeing a direct assault on Texas and its farmers, given that, when you look into the details of their various plans, you see that they all call for ending the use of diesel-fueled farm equipment like tractors and combines, not to mention all those Ford F-150s. That’s not just for “corporate” farmers, but for all farmers.

This stark reality, of course, is one of the main reasons why the Democratic National Committee denied requests from Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and a few other candidates to hold a formal debate focused solely on Climate Change. The party’s leaders actually entertain the notion that Texas’s shifting demographics might give their presidential candidate a shot to win the state’s electoral votes in 2020. But they also know that, if Texans become educated on the realities of how the candidates’ various “solutions” would impact their daily lives, those chances will fade accordingly.

Those DNC concerns were well-founded, and CNN did the party no favors by airing those proposals in such great detail. In presidential politics, some promises are better left unmade.

That is all.

Trump Just Keeps on Winning for Ordinary Americans

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Tired of all this WINNING yet? – This damn Trump economy just will not cooperate with all the Democrats and their media toadies who keep rooting for a recession.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report released on Friday showed the Trump economy adding another 130,000 new jobs even as the economy approaches full employment. FED Chairman Jerome Powell called the report another sign of a growing and healthy economy, indicating that he sees no sign of any recession on the horizon. Democrats everywhere recoiled in horror.

Other highlights of this jobs report include:

– Record low African American unemployment;

– Record low Hispanic unemployment;

– A record high number of Americans participating in the labor market;

– A continuing unemployment rate of 3.7%

That, folks, is WINNING, bigly, and it never gets old.

Here’s some news you won’t see on CNN. – Hey, remember back in May when Democrats and their fake media toadies ridiculed President Donald Trump for giving up on the stonewalling congress’s refusal to do anything to secure our southern border? Remember how he decided to pressure the government of Mexico to cooperate in that effort instead, and how the Pelosi’s and Schumer’s of the world laughed and said it would never work? Yeah, I remember all of that, too.

Well, barely three months later, we now know it has worked in a big way. The Mexican government has made great strides in slowing the  invasion of our southern border by Central American migrants who have been recruited and organized by leftist human traffickers from the U.S.

Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador says his government’s crackdown has resulted in a 56% reduction in this highly-0rganized human trafficking invasion across the border in the three months since President Trump gave him the choice of taking action or suffering crippling tariffs on Mexican goods coming across the Rio Grande. According to the Associated Press, U.S. Customs and Border Protection data show that “the number of migrants apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border in August was 63,989, down from 144,266 in May.”

Obrador, a life-long leftist who campaigned on promises of making the border even more wide open than it already was, has suddenly become a hard-liner in the face of Trump’s tariff threa…er, incentives. Funny how that works, huh? Check out this passage from the AP story:

His administration has taken a tough line against hundreds of African migrants waiting in the southern city of Tapachula for transit visas that Mexico no longer hands out.

“We will not budge,” he said after the Africans protested, “because the recent events in Tapachula aim to make Mexico yield and oblige us to give out certificates so migrants can get into the United States. We cannot do that. It isn’t our job.”

He said migrant caravans once tolerated by Mexico were the work of human traffickers, and effectively ended them.

“All of these people who traffic with migrants’ needs for jobs, safety and welfare, they are committing a crime and they will be punished,” López Obrador said last week. “We are already doing this in Mexico, without violating human rights. We are ensuring there isn’t anarchy, disorder.”

Then there’s this:

Mexico has raided freight trains that migrants ride north, and pulled thousands off buses and out of the freight compartments of trucks. The government has warned bus and taxi drivers they could lose their permits if they transport migrants.

Activists say that has forced migrants to hike through unpopulated areas to avoid checkpoints, exposing them to greater risk from thieves, muggers and rapists who lie in wait.

Now, all the liberal open borders snowflakes out there are going to wail about how mean and nasty that all is. The claims by the “activists” are most likely false, talking points designed to engender exactly that sympathy by their U.S. useful idiots.

But this is exactly what needs to happen to disincentivize these Central American people from signing up for the human trafficking caravans. It is no accident that these caravans started early last Fall, after Obrador had been elected on his promises of easy access through Mexico up to a wide-open border. The Human traffickers – 357 of whom have now been arrested and charged with human smuggling by the Mexican government – took that message down to Honduras, Guatemala and Costa Rica and tens of thousands fell for the siren song and signed up.

But today, the message making its way down to Central America is going to be that the wide open door is closing, and those who sign up for the caravans are likely to find themselves halted in the middle of Mexico and subject that nation’s governmental authority, and the coyotes who brought them that far are as likely as not to end up in jail.

So once again, for about the 10,000th time, we see a policy decision taken by President Trump being ridiculed by all the “smart people” on the left and in the leftist fake news media ending up producing exactly the results the President intended. Once again, we see the President winning for ordinary Americans while our betters in the D.C./New York/California media-political complex recoil in horror.

Tired of all this winning yet? Yeah, neither am I.

That is all.

Here’s Why Angela Merkel Hates Donald Trump

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Are you ready for some football?????  – We may be, but the NFL itself may not. The league’s season opened Thursday night with a snooze-fest 10-3 Green Bay win over da Bears. I don’t have time to go back through the entire major league baseball season, but I’d be willing to bet the Yankees, Astros and Dodgers have all played at least a dozen baseball games this year that ended with higher scores.

Of course, the NFL can’t juice up the ball the way MLB did this season, but still, c’mon, guys – if you want people to stay up late watching the game, there needs to be a game going on. Knowwhatimean?

In the “Are We Supposed to Care About That?” news, the Washington Post reports that Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced on Thursday that he won’t be running for president. Ok, so, he’s just like Bill DeBlasio, Amy Klobuchar, Julian Castro and Michael Bennett, then. Good to know.

If you wonder why German Chancellor Angela Merkel hates President Donald Trump, look no further than this article in Reuters: “Recession risks rise for Germany as industrial orders plunge”

Here’s the first paragraph:

Weaker demand from abroad drove a bigger-than-expected drop in German industrial orders in July, suggesting that struggling manufacturers could tip Europe’s biggest economy into a recession in the third quarter.

And this:

Contracts for ‘Made in Germany’ goods fell 2.7% from the previous month in July, data showed on Thursday, driven by a big drop in bookings from non-euro zone countries, the economy ministry said. That undershot a Reuters consensus forecast for a 1.5% drop.

This economic dynamic is a direct result of President Trump’s trade war with China, which is the key to his efforts to reset U.S. global trade. After 74 years of U.S. wealth flowing to the rest of the world as we have stupidly allowed every other nation to place tariffs on our goods without responding in-kind, Mr. Trump’s new trade agreements and retaliatory trade policies are now beginning to bring wealth back into our country.

Germany’s big problem where industrial orders are concerned is that China has been one of the largest purchasers of German goods. But China’s ability to buy those imported goods has been reduced dramatically over the last 18 months, as it has responded to U.S. placement of tariffs on its own exports by devaluing its currency in a doomed-to-fail effort to keep its products price-competitive.

The combination of this devaluation and the slowing of the flow of U.S. dollars into its economy due to the tariffs and many businesses relocating to other countries means that China has less wealth of its own with which to purchase foreign goods. Bad news for Germany and Merkel.

Another excerpt from the Reuters story:

With its sales abroad hit by a worsening trade climate, a global economic slowdown and the increasingly chaotic run-up to Brexit, the bulk of Germany’s growth momentum is now being generated domestically – a dependency that leaves it exposed to any weakening of the jobs market.

So now Germany, which, along with Japan and China, has been one of the major benefactors of U.S. post-World War II largesse since 1945, is suddenly having to try to stand on its own economic feet, by generating growth domestically. Note how the leftist Reuters writer refers to this sudden, forced economic independence as “a dependency.” Globalism is a disease that distorts every facet of our lives, perhaps especially “news” reporting.

As I noted a couple of weeks ago, the post-WWII Marshall Plan was intended to be a temporary measure. It originally called for the U.S. to contribute about $12 billion in aid to help rebuild European economies after the great war came to an end. But then the Truman and subsequent presidential administrations and congresses started to see all sorts of strategic military and political advantages in extending and expanding the outflow of U.S. wealth to other parts of the world, ultimately turning a very limited plan for temporary rebuilding aid into a global social welfare program.

It should surprise no one that countries like Germany came to feel entitled to continue to receive this U.S. welfare into perpetuity. It became like a narcotic to their economic body. It should also come as no surprise that the leaders of these dependent nations resent the U.S. leader who is systematically forcing them to begin to fend for themselves in the world of global trade.

Everything you see happening vis a vis trade with China is simply Donald J. Trump keeping a major promise he repeatedly made throughout his 2016 presidential campaign. Everyone should understand that, once this global economic and trade reset has been completed with a new trade agreement with China, President Trump will next begin to draw down the 79-year-long U.S. military deployments in German, Japan and other parts of the world. Because he repeatedly promised to do that in 2016, too.

This President is unlike any other we have ever seen, mainly because the promises he made during his campaign are promises he has tirelessly worked to keep. There may be some short-term pain related to his trade war with China, but the long-term gain for America once it has resulted in a trade agreement will be enormous.

That is all.

Now We Know Why The DNC Did Not Want That Climate Change Debate

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

There’s a reason why the Democrat National Committee desperately avoided demands from fringe candidates like Washington State Gov. Jay Inslee to schedule a debate focused solely on “climate change,” and you saw that reason on CNN last night. – The simple fact of the matter is that, whether the problem is real or not, it inevitably highlights just what a bunch of nutjobs the Party is offering to the voters in this cycle.

Andrew Yang wants the government to force you to buy electric vehicles, even though the EV industry has no capability whatsoever of meeting such a demand, and forcing such a change would do nothing to address the alleged problem in any event.

Elizabeth Warren wants to ban the building of new buildings starting in 2028. No really, she does.

The Commie wants to throw everyone in the oil, gas, and coal industries in prison. Because science.

Irish Bob O’Rourke wants to wave his arms around crazily and propose to spend $5 trillion on a bunch of stuff that will do nothing to address the alleged issue, and he wants to cuss about it.

Kamala Harris wants to do this, but not this, and that, but not that, borrow this idea from Warren and that idea from Mayor Pete and another idea from AOC, and then take the other sides of those issues all at the same time. And then she wants to get into a fight with the Commie about all of it. Which is why she has fallen into Irish Bob O’Rourke territory in the latest round of polls.

Joe Biden has no clue what he wants to do other than to spend a bunch of money on stuff that doesn’t matter. So, standard operating procedure for the nation’s Unfrozen Caveman Senator, who is exactly who Irish Bob is going to become 35 years from now.

All of them claim hurricanes have become more frequent – they haven’t. All of them claim hurricanes have become stronger – they haven’t. All of them want you to believe Dorian is the most powerful storm of all-time – it isn’t.

All of them want to blot the American landscape with millions of 500-ft. windmills that require 8 acres of land apiece and gigantic solar farms and decimate our bird populations in order to provide very high-priced energy to about 2 percent of us so that they can claim to be “doing something” about a problem none of them has any real knowledge of.

The fact of the matter is that “climate change” is a global socialist political religion. Every proposal to address “climate change” inevitably becomes a top-down, command-and-control socialist-model “solution” that would do nothing to make the climate better but do everything to command and control the lives of everyday people. Every proposal would be incredibly destructive to the national and global economy. Every proposal would effectively work to keep the 2 billion or so human beings living in squalor in 3rd world countries today living in squalor in 3rd world countries forever.

This is the dogma, the commandments of this global religion. See, the nasty secret of this religion is that its followers believe economic growth is actually evil and must be stopped. People living in squalor produce less carbon emissions than people who have decent standards of living, after all. That at least is an actual fact.

Thus, the religion’s dogma demands that any and all “solutions” have the impact of destroying economic growth and human prosperity. This is real, folks. This is what Bill McKibben, Al Gore and other Cardinals in this global church write in their books and say in their speeches. You don’t have to make this stuff up. Who could?

Such a debate could only take place on CNN, as it did last night, or some other Democrat propaganda fake news outlet to ensure that no difficult questions would ever possibly be asked. Because these politicians have no good answers to any difficult questions, such as, if “global warming” is such an emergency, why is it that NOAA can find no warming in the continental U.S. over the last 14 years?

Or how about, if the U.S. is the root of the global problem – it isn’t – explain how it is that the U.S. by far leads the world in reducing its carbon emissions, which have now fallen to levels not seen since 1985? And if oil and natural gas are such a problem, how is it that that fall in U.S. carbon emissions is mainly attributable to the increased use of natural gas in our power generation sector and in reductions in gas-powered car emissions?

And if getting back into the Paris Accords is the answer, why is it that those accords do nothing to force the real causes of rising carbon emissions – Europe, China and India – to affect reductions similar to those the U.S. has achieved?

And if command-and-control regulatory actions and confiscations are the answer, how is it that the U.S. has achieved these dramatic carbon reductions and also produced the cleanest water and air in any developed nation without resorting to such measures?

Last night’s climate change dog and pony show on CNN was global socialist nutjobbery and nitwittery at its finest. And the hilarious thing about it is that the far-left anti-development activists and lunatic politicians like AOC will all be out on their Twitter feeds this morning bashing the candidates for only resorting to half-measures and not going far enough.

All of this hooplah is taking place around an issue that always ranks at or near the very bottom when pollsters ask Americans about the issues they are really concerned about.

That, friends, is why the DNC did not want to travel down this road to begin with. Who can blame them?

That is all.

Bernie Sanders’ Dorian Tweet Proves he is an Ignorant, Shameless Hack

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Grand Bahama this morning looks a lot like Galveston did on September 9, 1900. – On September 8 of that year, the deadliest hurricane in American history slammed into Galveston Island with winds in excess of 140 mph – which would make it a Category 4 hurricane – and a storm surge that inundated the entire island.

Captains and sailors from ships coming into port had been warning islanders for days in advance of a large storm lurking in the Gulf, and a prominent local weather man, Isaac Cline, also tried to warn locals that a big storm was coming. But government officials assured residents that a major hit on the island was virtually impossible due to the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico and other factors, and predicted that any storm in the Gulf of Mexico would be most likely to make landfall in Florida. Thus, few people evacuated Galveston in advance of the storm, and, without air travel or gasoline powered automobiles, evacuation for most residents would have been difficult if not impossible in any event.

Thus it was that more than 8,000 Galvestonians died in the resultant inundation. Cline himself lived in a two-story home near the downtown area, and was only able to survive the rising flood waters by climbing onto the roof of his house along with his family. The destruction of all but the sturdiest of buildings on the island, like the famous Moody Mansion and many of the downtown business establishments, was utter and complete.

For many months afterwards, the refuse and debris from those buildings that had been carried out to sea was washed back up onto the island’s shores, along with the rotting carcasses of human beings, farm animals and pets who had perished in the storm. The cleanup operations were grim and seemingly unending; the stench was horrible and reportedly lingered for years afterwards.

The story we see coming out of Grand Bahama this morning is similar and tragic. The island was largely inundated by the storm surge, and thousands of houses and non-sturdy buildings have been destroyed. The refuse and debris from those buildings that was carried out to sea will wash back up onto shore in the months to come.

But that debris and refuse will not be accompanied by the rotting bodies of thousands of dead human beings. Many of the island’s pets and other animals were also taken to safety and even evacuated off the island, thanks to volunteer animal rescue operations. That happy result is largely due to modern means of predicting the path these storms will take days in advance. But it is also due to the existence of modern means of travel that allowed so many of the residents there to evacuate the island.

Virtually all of those means of travel, whether by boat, by plane or by automobile in the case of mainland U.S. residents in several states who are evacuating their own homes in advance of the storm’s path, are powered by gasoline or diesel fuel. Almost 100% of them. Even the growing number of electric vehicles on the roads now obtain their charge from power stations whose electricity is generated by a U.S. energy grid that is more than 80% powered by fossil fuels, including coal.

These modern, fossil-fueled means of transportation are why, when the ultimate death toll from this very strong hurricane is totaled up, the number most likely will consist of two digits instead of four or five.

So, when you see craven Democrat/Socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders issue a tweet like this:

…remember that the deadliest hurricane in American history occurred in 1900, when Americans were traveling using horses and buggies, almost a full century before the climate change scam was invented by the global socialist political movement.

Next time you run into someone who works in America’s oil and gas industry, thank them for producing the fuels that help save so many human lives in advance of these terrible storms. I guarantee you they will appreciate the gesture.

That is all.
