The Week in Review: Farting Cows, Crafty Beavers, AOC Memes and Epic Swalwell Fail

The Campaign Update Week in Review
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

The Week in Review, courtesy of the @GDBlackmon Twitter Feed…

The week kicked off with the whole Jussie Smollett hoax coming apart, and James Woods summed the great irony of it all in a single 280-character message, as only he can do.

Meanwhile, fellow hoaxters like the Creepy Porn Lawyer mourned Jussie’s exposure:

While Jussie’s effort to smear President Trump, his millions of supporters and the City of Chicago was falling apart, a CNN reporter was helping one of his hoax’s faithful fans try on jackets, because of course that’s what a CNN reporter would do:

Shameless Self-Promotion Alert!:  All of this hoaxing and the fake news media’s willing promotion of it for two solids weeks led me to write this piece, which is worth a read in case you missed it, and (hint, hint) worth sharing if you’ve already read it:

CBS’s Lara Logan, a rare actual ethical journalist in a mainstream media ocean of shameful news-fakers, put her career on the line on Monday by telling the unvarnished truth about her dying profession:

The no-good very bad week for the New York Times’s chosen candidate, Kamala Harris, continued, as she obviously had no earthly idea what one of her staffers had posted on her own Twitter feed about the Jussie Smollett hoax. You can bet the week was even worse for the staffer, though:

Another real journalist, the great Sharyl Attkisson, had a noble thought, but one with obvious stumbling blocks that would have to be overcome:

From our Clowns are Everywhere files, well, I give you Juan Williams:

It was just another magnificent week for making fun of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez …:

Radio Host Greg Budell – who invites me on his show from time to time – sums up the Commie’s candidacy in 16 words…:

Speaking of making fun of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, here’s a pure masterpiece of memery:

What happens when fake “greens” obstruct the construction of oil pipelines? Canada dumps 120,000 barrels per day of it onto trains, greatly increasing air pollution and the potential for fatal accidents. Because, Climate Change or something…:

I was planning to write about 1,000 words on how the fake news media would fake its “reporting” on the Smollett hoax as it continues to play out, but Undercover Huber summed it all up perfectly in just 280 characters, so I wrote about other stuff instead:

Sometimes I wish James Woods wouldn’t mince his words so much. It’s always so hard to figure out what he’s really thinking…:

Oh, hey, this also happened…:

Here, detestable California creep congressman Eric Swalwell tries to portray himself as a hero by walking an extra block for a cup of coffee.  It didn’t work out well for him at all…:

Oh, hey, this happened on Tuesday, too.:

How does any editor worth a damn allow this headline to make it to print?:

Oh, yeah, and here’s what happens when the fake “greens” like Andrew Cuomo refuse to allow the construction of new natural gas pipelines, i.e., people have no heat:

Is anyone surprised by this? Because it doesn’t surprise me at all. Not even a little bit:

Shameless Self-Promotion Alert!: I was really on a roll this week, and if you missed this piece summing up the ongoing hoaxes by Jussie and AOC’s “Green New Deal”, here’s your chance to take it in and (hint, hint) share it:

Prove me wrong…:

Pretty sure we reached that point back during the Reagan Administration, but your point is well-taken (and if you haven’t seen the clip of Sir Charles lampooning Smollett, you need to watch it):

The inevitable end game of fascist socialism continues to play out in Venezuela…:

When Ben Shapiro posed a very pertinent question about the shady plea deal federal prosecutors entered into with notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, I had a ready answer about two of the most frequent visitors to his private island where all the shenanigans took place. Our fake news media’s ongoing refusal to report the truth about the Clintons is one of the greatest stains in the history of the Republic:

With the Weekly Standard having gone belly up, the idiot dozen remaining #NeverTrump nitwits have a new platform for spreading their stupidity. Not surprisingly, it adopts one of the favorite tactics of leftwing activists. If this surprises you, you haven’t been paying attention to the leftward tilt of these fake “conservatives”, not that I blame you.:

And now for some good news that came through the ol’ Twitter feed on Friday…:

This was the NICEST thing I could think to say about Michael Steele on Friday evening when his despicable remarks came across the wires.  No wonder the RNC went to pot when he was serving as its chairman.:

Despicable Dianne Feinstein had a rare moment of cogent thought this week, which I captured here, even though I misspelled “admirable” in the process.:

Australians are already finding out the desperate costs of implementing just a tiny portion of the “Green New Deal” the hard way.:

Man, Breadline Bernie really needs to work on his Twitter self-awareness.:

In case you missed it due to the fake news media blackout on all the wonderful things President Donald Trump is accomplishing on your behalf, this happened this week.:

With all the reports about Amy Klobuchar forcing a staffer to clean the comb she’d taken out of her purse to eat a salad, it seemed to me everyone was missing the most disgusting part of it all.:

Since no one in the fake news media would dream of fact-checking leftwing activist and Q-list actress Alyssa Milano, I did it for them.:

Brett Kavanaugh is all like, “geez, I wish she and her fellow Democrats and the fake news media would have taken this attitude back in October.”:

Sometimes the Climate Scammers mess up and let the truth slip out…:

Speaking of Climate Scammers, the great Steve Goddard captures their essence with the perfect meme.:

Was this mean of me? Or were you thinking it too?:

And finally, I leave you with yet another of the best in a great week for AOC Twitter memes.:

That is all.

Trump Does the Right Thing on Border Securty – Will John Roberts do the Same?

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

See something, say something, do something. – President Donald Trump has seen a national emergency developing along our southern border for several years now, and he’s been saying that for a long time. On Thursday, left with no other choice by ineffective Republicans who have no spine and Democrats who refuse to negotiate, the President did exactly as he has been promising to do and declared the situation to be a national emergency.

Naturally, the fake news media/Democrat axis of disinformation portrayed the declaration as the end of American society as we know it, because of course they did. That’s what they do anytime this particular President exercises his obvious legal and constitutional authorities.

How obvious is said authority? Barack Hussein Obama – America’s Worst Mistake – declared no fewer than 13 national emergencies in his nine years in office, at least nine of which are still active. On October 24, 2009, he declared it a “national emergency” when 12 people died of the Swine Flu. I swear I don’t make this stuff up. Who could?

All of the Obama “national emergency” declarations that are still active have to do with seizing the personal assets of various minor international bad actors, people you’ve never heard of. Funny he couldn’t find it within himself to take similar actions against the Iranian Mullahs or the socialist thugs down in Venezuela, or against the radical Islamic terrorists who assaulted our embassy in Benghazi and murdered four U.S. diplomatic personnel.

How do any of Obama’s “emergencies” remotely compare to a situation in which our country is literally being invaded by thousands of mostly-military-age males across our border with Mexico each and every day? It is important to note that, when America’s Worst Mistake exercised his clear authorities to declare said “emergencies,” no one in our fake news media or in the Democrat Party uttered a peep of protest. Nor did a single Republican squish like Marco Rubio, who appears to be auditioning for John McCain’s old role as the Senator From The News Media on this issue.

Jonathan Turley, Constitutional Law Professor at George Washington University, told Fox News that the leftist interests who will inevitably challenge the President’s authority to declare this emergency will “fail spectacularly” in the courts on that question. He also thinks that the President has full authority under laws passed in 1977 to reallocate funds from other parts of the budget, and in 2005 to target them towards building the wall.  Why? Because congress gave presidents those powers – reaffirming his already-existing constitutional authority – to do those things, and has never acted to try to repeal them.

So what you’re seeing in the fake news media this morning is – you guessed it – more fake news!

Some things never change.

Having said all of that, there are at least seemingly legitimate political arguments to be made against President Trump’s actions. I don’t agree with them, but they are fair.

Many Republicans reeled in horror yesterday when San Fran Nan implied that a future Democrat President might use the same authority to seize guns. But this is an absurdity. There is no authority – statutory or constitutional – that would allow any president to effectively amend the Constitution or reverse decisions by the Supreme Court via an executive order. It’s typical Pelosi idiocy.

Late last week we saw Rubio and other GOP squishes fret about the potential that a future Democrat would declare “climate change” to be a national emergency and enact the lunatic “Green New Deal” via executive fiat. That’s a concern that’s at least understandable to some extent, especially were we to elect someone like Bernie Sanders or Fauxcahontas, neither of whom will ever become president.

But the declaration of a “national emergency” is not the same as a president appointing himself to be a de facto dictator. The actions he takes under a national emergency declaration still must be founded in a legal authority, either statutory or constitutional. Where the “Green New Deal” is concerned, there is no such legal authority that would allow a president to, for example, unilaterally triple the price of gasoline and your electricity and home heating bills in order to make you stop using fossil fuels, or force privately-owned companies to go bankrupt building thousands of miles of railroads to nowhere, which is exactly what that mindless plan contemplates.

Look, if that were going to happen, Barack Obama would have already tried it and failed. So quit worrying about it.

The real wild card in this is Chief Justice John Roberts. In recent months, Roberts has made several decisions in which he has sided with the leftist minority on the Court, indicating that he may be turning into another Anthony Kennedy, an unreliable jurist with no real principles.

At least one of the inevitable court challenges to President Trump’s declaration will ultimately come before the Supreme Court. That is when we will find out once and for all whether Justice Roberts still respects the Constitution and his role in interpreting it, or if he has become just another Deep State skunk.

Might as well find out now.

That is all.

Trump Should Sign the Bad Border Deal and Finish the Wall on His Own

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Ok, the whole “black face” thing  just very predictably veered off into the theater of the absurd. – Semi-tone deaf pop singer Katy Perry fell into the “black face” controversy on Monday for no good reason at all, because of course she did.  Social media always takes any real issue like the one swirling around Virginia Democrats to the most ridiculous extremes possible.

Ms. Perry has attached her name to a line of shoes, and some, like those pictured above, have little eyes, nose and mouth glued onto them.  Sort of like something your 6 year-old granddaughter might design (trust me, I know about this first hand). Anyway, because the shoes pictured above happen to be black in color, a bunch of nitwits on Twitter desperate to be offended accused the singer of being a racist yesterday.

Never mind the fact that the line of shoes come in a variety of different colors – it’s only the black ones that are somehow offensive. Ms. Perry has yet to apologize, something she should never even consider doing in a million years. Because the truth is this: Had her line of shoes included a variety of colors, but not black ones, she’d have then been accused by the very same nitwits of discrimination. You all know that is true.

The people who know “Beto” best would rather go see Trump. Take this as an object lesson. – When the White House announced last Thursday that President Donald Trump would travel to El Paso for a political rally on Monday, Irish Bob O’Rourke, an El Paso native, quickly announced he would hold a “counter-rally” of his own.

Hearts began to flutter throughout our fake news media – as they always do whenever the cute ex-sheep suit-wearing punk rocker opens his mouth – as the wags began to rampantly speculate that their precious “Beto” would surely draw more people to his rally than the President would. After all, El Paso was his home town!  Why surely the people who know and love “Beto” best would turn out in mobs to hear his immaculate pronouncements!

Uh, well, no. That didn’t happen. Not even close. The fake news media did its best to cover it up, but the reality is that the President had an overflow crowd of 8,000 or so inside the arena in which he spoke, and another 20,000 or so standing out in the elements watching on large TV screens. Here’s a shot of a small part of that outdoor crowd:

Meanwhile, a few blocks down the road, only a couple of thousand showed up to listen to the city’s fake favorite son. It turns out that familiarity really does breed contempt.

But the reality won’t stop the fake news media from lying about it all anyway. The shameless fake newsers at The Week have a piece out this morning with this headline:  “Trump Seemed Very Interested in Beto O’Rourke’s Evidently Larger Crowd During His El Paso Rally,” thus deceitfully implying that Irish Bob actually drew more people than Trump did, something not even the most biased fake reporters on the scene attempted to claim.

How false is that headline?  Despite massively inflating O’Rourke’s actual turnout by a factor of seven or so, The Week’s own piece admits the Trump crowd was far larger:

Trump’s audience inside the coliseum was 6,500, at capacity, El Paso Fire Department public information officer Enrique Aguilar told the El Paso Times. “It might be 10,000 with the people outside,” watching on monitors. The rally O’Rourke spoke at, following a mile-long march, drew at least 7,000 people, The Texas Tribune reports.

Um, last time I looked, 10,000 is more than 7,000, even when those absurdly-faked numbers appear in a fake news publication like The Week.

Another bad deal on the border. – The very Swampy congressional negotiators announced a very, very, very bad “bi-partisan” deal on border security funding as President Trump was flying out to Texas on Monday. The “deal” includes just $1.375 for “border barrier” funding – because we mustn’t say “wall”, you know – far below the President’s $5.7 billion demand. It’s a lousy deal, negotiated by lousy Republican swamp rats and open-borders Democrats. The outcome was thus predictable.

If this smelly “deal” passes both houses of congress and is sent to his desk, the President has only three options that would preserve his electoral viability going into 2020:

  • Reject the bill, which means another fake partial government shutdown; or
  • Sign the bill and immediately announce either a national emergency declaration or, as White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney laid out on Sunday, that he will use his presidential authority to reallocate unused funds from the Defense, Homeland Security and other departmental budgets to fund the wall.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Mulvaney said:

“Any president can do this…There are certain funds of money that he can get to without declaring a national emergency and other funds that he can only get to after declaring a national emergency. The whole pot is well north of $5.7 billion.”

That is the path the President should take. The Democrats are desperate to force another shutdown in order to change the subject from racist, baby-murdering, women-assaulting Virginia Democrats, disastrous Green New Deals and anti-Semite Minnesota congresswomen. So they’ll be all too thrilled to deny more paychecks to those same 800,000 federal workers and cry their crocodile tears over them.

The President should not give them that gift when he has them so clearly on the defensive.

What President Trump cannot do is sign this atrocity of a “deal” and do nothing else on border security. More than any other element of his 2016 campaign, his promise to secure our Southern border is why he was elected. He cannot leave that promise unaddressed any longer and expect to be re-elected in 2020.

The time to act is now.

That is all.

The Border Debate is Groundhog Day All Over Again

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

So here we go again. – Well, it’s like Groundhog Day: we keep waking up in the morning to listen to congressional Republicans use the same tired old talking points on the border issue.  “The Democrats should do the right thing,” they say, followed by “they should come to the table and negotiate in good faith.”

Yeah, like that’s gonna happen, right?

Invariably, the Republican speaking is some Chamber of Commerce guy or gal who secretly likes open borders for all the cheap labor that provides to all the business interests that fund their campaigns every two years. The real elephant in the living room on this border issue is the same as it was on Obamacare repeal: establishment Republicans refusing to follow through on promises made during their campaigns.

The most valid question in the entire mess is “hey, you Republicans just finished two solid years of having the presidency along with majorities in both houses of congress – if we have a real border emergency, how come you didn’t do anything about it when you had the chance?” And don’t give me the standard crap about their needing 9 Democrat votes in the Senate: If it’s a real emergency, you find a way to get it done through the budget reconciliation process (where only 51 votes are required) and take care of it.

So now all the government workers – without whose presence it took a full month before even the slightest impacts on the American public were felt in a handful of our nation’s airports – are back at work and getting paid to do whatever it is they’re supposed to be doing, and we’re all supposed to say “yay!” for that.  Awesome. Yay.

And for the next three weeks we’re going to be treated to yet another round of D.C. Swamp Kabuki theatre in which both sides will preen and posture and recite talking points written by other people and nothing real will get done. At the end of this latest act, President Donald J. Trump had best either refuse to sign the atrocity of a bill he is presented – because it surely will not contain the $5.7 billion border security funding for which he has been advocating – and shut the government down again, or sign the damn thing and declare his long-promised and long-delayed national emergency.

I say he’d better do one of those two things, because the only other option he is going to have left to him will be to sign whatever bill he is presented and take whatever pittance it contains for border security and pretend that it is some sort of “win”. The thing about that is, nobody’s going to buy it, not even his most fervent fans. If President Trump capitulates on this issue, his presidency would be well and truly over, and he might as well resign and go back to public life.

Here’s the good news: He won’t capitulate. That’s not in his makeup. Come Feb. 15, he’ll be out there fighting just like he always has, and we’ll all be able to see pretty clearly which Republican members of congress are really out there with him.

There won’t be many, and the ones who aren’t – like Marco Rubio – are the real problem here.

About that State of the Union… – Speaking of D.C. Swamp Kabuki theatre, where is it? The government’s back open, so where’s that letter from San Fran Nan renewing the invite to the President to come and enthrall the congress and all of us out here in Flyover Country who all the coastal sophisticates think have nothing better to do on a Tuesday evening?

Ok, honestly, I really don’t give a damn about the State of the Union, and would just as soon see it go away entirely. But that isn’t going to happen, and as things currently stand, this represents another real missed opportunity for the President.

He should be out there somewhere giving a speech tomorrow night. It could be on the National Mall, or as I discussed a couple of weeks back, in one of the great Red State cities like Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Detroit, Dallas, San Antonio or even down in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

As it has traditionally been carried out, the entire ritual around the State of the Union has become an incredibly tiresome exercise with pretty much no utility at all for real people. In her despicable fit of petulance, San Fran Nan has handed the President a golden opportunity to change its entire nature and bring it out to the people he constantly claims to be his sole focus in office.

If he misses this opportunity, it will be a real loss for his presidency.

That is all.

The Wall Will be Built, One Way or Another. Stop Whining.

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Really?  This guy was actually a candidate? Who knew? – You will all no doubt be highly saddened to know that Richard Ojeda has dropped out of the race for the 2020 Democrat Party’s presidential nomination.

I can hear the gears clinking furiously in minds everywhere out there, as you take to Google to figure out just who in the hell is Richard Ojeda? So, let me tell you: He’s a state senator from West Virginia. I have no earthly idea when he announced he was running, but on Friday he announced he wasn’t, and that actually made news for some reason.

The candidate no one had ever heard of said that, although “The indications were very positive from an overwhelming response to our videos, to thousands of volunteers, and a level of grassroots fundraising support that grew every day,” he doesn’t “want to see people send money to a campaign that’s probably not going to get off the ground.”

Oh.  Ok.  Adios, dude.

In other, real news… – The Commie’s in!  Yes, friends and enemies, Bernie Sanders is going to be providing more Soviet-style gruel for the leftist masses for the next two years, as expected.  Yahoo News reports that he will formally announce his bid just as soon as he can use other people’s money to rent a room at some Washington, DC hotel.

Awesome. The 2020 campaign just wouldn’t have been the same without this grifting lunatic weaving his envy-based Bolshevik fantasies for all the college students to soak in.

Why can’t people listen anymore? – I’ve always marveled at the inability of the leftist mind to listen and absorb what is actually being said in a speech. Sadly, this same lack of attention span appears to have now afflicted many on the right as well.

Yesterday, President Trump gave a speech that lasted about 20 minutes or so, in which he announced that he had reached an agreement with congressional “leaders” to re-open the semi-closed government and get all the federal employees paid via a three-week continuing resolution (CR).  That part of the speech consumed about one of the twenty minutes.

Those who actually listened to the speech in its entirety and absorbed what was actually said heard the President spend the other 19 minutes of it making making the case for why the current situation along our Southern border constitutes a true national emergency, and why the building of a wall is necessary to relieve it. Mr. Trump further promised that, if congress has failed to allocate his requested $5.7 billion in wall and border security funding at the end of the 21-day period of the CR, he will use his authority to issue an executive order declaring a national emergency and use funds his staff has already identified in the defense budget to immediately begin adding to the 630 miles of border wall that already exist.

Oddly, the only part of the speech most Trump “supporters” apparently heard was the deal on the CR. Despite the reality that Donald Trump is the first President since Ronald Reagan who has kept promise after promise after promise, the backlash among his supposed supporters on social media was immediate and harsh. Twitter was immediately filled with the wailings of thousands of Trumpians accusing the President of “caving” and whining that his presidency is now somehow over.

For those still clinging to that notion this morning, let me try to explain what really happened on Friday:

  1. President Trump acted to ensure employees in the Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security did not miss a second paycheck, and to ensure the flight disruptions that were taking place at several airports due to lack of personnel did not spread across the country and begin harming the overall economy; and
  2. The President put the onus on congressional Democrats to either negotiate a deal on border security or deal with the reality of a national emergency declaration.

Seeing all the uproar taking place, the President tried to calm the waters with the following tweet:

As if that blunt statement needed more clarity, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders followed up with this:

Are we clear now, or are there still some who need it boiled down into 25 words or less? If so, here you go:

The wall is going to be built, one way or another.  Stop whining, and pay better attention.

That is all.

Best. Fake. Partial. Shutdown. EVER.

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

[Note:  The Campaign Update will appear later than  normal over the next four days.]

Government Shutdown, Day…um, what day is it?  28? 29? This fake, partial, sort of “shutdown” of parts of a quarter of the federal government has now dragged on so long it’s become impossible to keep up anymore.

But oh, what a glorious fake government shutdown it became on Thursday. That day, January 17, 2019, will be remembered into posterity as the date when this became, without any doubt at all, the greatest, most entertaining government shutdown in the history of all government shutdowns.

Just a day after Speaker San Fran Nan sent over a petty and utterly dishonest letter to the White House informing President Donald Trump that she was rescinding her invitation to deliver his state of the union message to a joint session of congress in the House chamber on January 29, President Trump responded with a petty – but honest – act of his own, denying Pelosi and several other Democrat congressmen and women the use of a military aircraft for a six-day international boondoggle they’d had planned for weeks.

Where Pelosi cited false concerns about “security” in her Wednesday letter – which were quickly debunked by the Secret Service – Trump cited the need for Pelosi to remain in Washington DC while 800,000 federal employees continued to work without pay thanks to her refusal to negotiate over the border security issue. Thus, a petty and dishonest act generated a petty and completely honest response.

Of course, when San Fran Nan sent her despicable letter, the fake news media parroted the Democrat talking points, calling it an “impressive power play” and couching it in other glowing terms. The fake media’s response to Trump’s letter was also a parroting of Democrat talking points, because that’s what the fake news media does.

In any event, there is no question that the President hit Pelosi where it really hurts.  She is infamous for abusing the privilege of commandeering military aircraft for her personal use. During her first stint as Speaker, she abused the  privilege to fly across the continent to her San Francisco home and back to D.C. multiple times every month.

What most in the media are missing about this particular, specific retaliation from the President is that it represents a shot across the bow at Pelosi. This was not just about the fake “shutdown” – this was President Trump putting her and her colleagues on notice that he is fully aware of their chronic abuse of military assets, a practice he could end entirely with the stroke of a presidential pen. You can bet bug-eyed Adam Schiff – who, along with his colleagues had already  boarded the bus to Andrews Joint Airbase when Trump’s letter was released – took notice of this reality and is not happy about it either.

And guess what else?  All those Republicans whining about the President’s actions today also understand the reality of what this specific action really was, and they aren’t happy about the prospect of losing that privilege, either.  Are you listening, Lindsey Graham?

Call the President “petty” if you  like, but doing that without also acknowledging Pelosi’s more reprehensible act of pettiness, or recognizing the full implication of the President’s using this specific action as a negotiating tactic just completely  misses the point here.

And speaking of Pelosi’s fake “security” issues… – Yours truly traveled through not one, but two major U.S. airports on Thursday. You know – the airports that are supposedly near the breaking point, with angry air traffic controllers and TSA agents calling in sick by the thousands, according to your fake news media?

Yeah, those airports.  Anyway, I traveled through two of them yesterday and encountered not a single solitary issue.  No angry TSA agents, no long waits at security, no long lines at check-in, no delays at baggage claim, no nothing.

If anything, the TSA agents I encountered were cheerful and more helpful than normal.  Obviously, they can’t be happy about missing a paycheck, but the reality is this: all those alarmist reports you are seeing on your local and national news media about chaos at the nation’s airports are nothing more than steaming piles of fresh horse manure.

Now, if Pelosi forces this thing to linger on for another month, some spots of chaos could begin to develop in this regard.  But the Administration has all sorts of options that enable it to prevent that from happening.

As is always the case, your fake news media is lying to you. Because, that is who they are, and it is what they do.

That is all.

Pelosi Hands Trump a Golden Opportunity to be the Disrupter Again

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

By dis-inviting President Donald Trump from delivering the annual State of the Union address to a joint session of congress, Speaker San Fran Nan provides the President with a golden opportunity to do one of two great things for our nation:  Eliminate the State of the Union tradition entirely, or move it to America’s heartland, where it belongs, and deliver it to real Americans.

Contrary to all the bad information spread all over social media yesterday, no president is under any constitutional obligation to give this speech.  All the constitution requires of the president is that he or she “from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.”

Right up until the despicable Woodrow Wilson decided to start making a speech in 1913 to congress to satisfy this obligation, American presidents had done it in writing. Somehow, the nation survived.

The truth is that this annual bit of Kabuki Theatre is a tremendous waste of time, nothing more than a tedious opportunity for a president to brag about successes that may or may not be real, for members of the opposition party to sit on their hands and scowl while he does so, and for mental midgets like former Illinois congressman Luis Guitierrez to get up and walk out. The entire exercise is incredibly tiresome and frankly not good in any way for the country.

President Trump would be doing the nation a huge favor by dispensing with this nonsense altogether. Just put the final version of the speech in the U.S. mail on January 29, addressed to Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and spend the rest of that day getting rid of more of the un-American legacy of Barack Hussein Obama. Productive work is always a good thing.

But if the President decides he must deliver a speech in order to take advantage of the opportunity to speak to the nation on national television unfiltered by the preening peacocks in the national fake news media, then why not take it out of the cesspool that is Washington, D.C., and move it to a place where real Americans live and work and breathe the flyover country air?

Take it to Pittsburgh, one of the great cities of America’s Rust Belt, which is experiencing a tremendous renaissance in recent years, and which led the way in delivering Pennsylvania’s electoral votes to Donald Trump in November, 2016. Rent the city’s largest arena and deliver the speech to 15,000 appreciative Pennsylvanians.

Or take it to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the state the Pantsuit Princess couldn’t be bothered to visit, or Detroit, Michigan, states that hadn’t voted for any GOP presidential candidate in this century, but that helped put Trump in the White House in 2016.

If you want to take it to the heart of the Heartland, there’s always St. Louis or Dallas, both great cities with big, secure airports and millions of real citizens who would rush for the chance to witness a formal presidential speech.

But if he really wants to make an impact, if he really wants to focus on the border security issue, take the speech to San Antonio or even the Rio Grande Valley, fill the arena with 15,000 Texans, and invite every mother and father and sister and brother who have lost loved ones to violent crimes committed by illegal aliens to occupy the seats closest to the stage.

Regardless of where the speech is held, invite every member of congress to attend as well, but ensure that they all must stand on-line with everyone else, enter the arena along with everyone else, and sit in random seats out among the real people, so that they can experience the speech as real Americans experience it, and maybe even have a conversation with a real American or two while they’re doing it.

Wouldn’t that be something?

Donald Trump is a natural disrupter – always has been, always will be. He doesn’t just ignore stuffy and stupid and non-productive traditions – like the annual White House Correspondents Dinner – he destroys them. It’s why he was elected to the presidency in the first place.

By sending him her incredibly dishonest and embarrassingly vapid letter, Speaker San Fran Nan has handed Mr. Trump a golden opportunity to play the disrupter again, and do it in a way that turns a tedious and tiresome Washington D.C. tradition into an event that involves and benefits real, ordinary Americans.

Of course, the most likely outcome here is that the President will, later today, simply inform the Speaker that her concerns about “security” issues are absurd, and that he will be at the House Chamber at 9:00 ET on January 29 to deliver the speech as she invited him to do on January 3, which by the way was already two weeks into this fake, partial government “shutdown.”

But wouldn’t it be wonderful, wouldn’t it be a fantastic thing if he did something else?

Yes, yes it would. Just do it, Mr. President, do it for the people.

That is all.

Will the Media Ever Report the Real Story About the Government Shutdown?

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

What ever happened to Matt Drudge? – The blaring, all caps, bold-faced headlines atop the Drudge Report landing page this morning read “SHUTDOWN TURNS NIGHTMARE” and GOVT PARALYZED”.

My goodness, you mean to say that, here on Day 26 of the longest partial federal government fake “shutdown” ever, we’re finally starting to see major detrimental impacts to not just the government itself, but also to the public at large? That’s obviously what Matt Drudge wants you to believe.

The trouble is, when you click on those headlines to read the stories behind them, that is not the narrative you will find. Not at all. Take the “SHUTDOWN TURNS NIGHTMARE” story first.  Click on that shock header and you are taken to an Associated Press story with a similarly-alarmist header that reads in slightly smaller, non-caps letters: No. of no-show airport security screeners soars in shutdown”.

My goodness, it “soars”? Boy, that must mean half of the TSA airport security agents aren’t showing up for work, right?  Surely, all of the nation’s airports must be in lockdown and air travel grounded to a halt as a result.  Right?  Well, RIGHT?as Drudge would ask it.

Um, no. If you bother to read all the way into the 2nd paragraph of the typically-slanted AP story, you see this sentence: “No-shows among screeners jumped Sunday and again Monday, when the Transportation Security Administration reported a national absence rate of 7.6 percent compared with 3.2 percent on a comparable day a year ago.” The emphasis added there is mine.

That’s right, Matt Drudge thinks it’s a “NIGHTMARE” that 7.6 percent of TSA airport agents are calling in sick. Folks, a typical flu epidemic results in a higher absentee rate than that.

Oh, but the AP didn’t stop there. Their reporter managed to find the perfect air traveler who was willing to say that “It’s chaos out here.” So, why is it “chaos” out there, according to one Vincent Smith, the air traveler in question? “This line, I’ve been here about 15 minutes and it has moved 2 feet.” Oh, golly, welcome to Atlanta Hartsfield Airport on a Monday, dude.

But it just gets better in this fake story.  Here’s another passage halfway down the page:  “Delta Air Lines, the dominant carrier in Atlanta, and other airlines said they were advising passengers to get to the airport at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international trips.”  You don’t say.

Here’s what the AP doesn’t tell you:  Delta and every other U.S. airline have been advising passengers do exactly that since 9/12/2001. Every frequent air traveler in America has heard that exact advice 1,000 times in the last 18 years, and most of us studiously ignore it, because it has always been fake advice. But hey, maybe this time, 26 days into this fake partial government “shutdown,” it’s real. There’s a first time for everything.

Ok, that’s enough on that fake story.  Let’s now click on the Drudge alarmist header that reads GOVT PARALYZED”.  Note that this one is not only all-caps, bolded and in a huge font, but is also in italics, so Matt Drudge wants you to believe this one is really, really, REALLY terrible, possibly the end of the world for all of us.  He wants you to believe that our entire federal government is not just impacted, it is PARALYZED by this fake, partial government shutdown that has 1 out of 14 of TSA agents – GASP!!!! – calling in sick.

So, you click through and what do you find? A story from several fake journalists at the fake Washington Post recycling the narrative that President Trump and congress can’t reach a deal to re-open the fraction of the government that has been sort of, partially “closed” for the last 26 days.

Oh.

It’s your standard WaPo fake story:  Everything is President Trump’s fault, no mention of the fact that many of the intransigent Democrats who have offered zero compromise in 26 days vacationed with 109 lobbyists in Puerto Rico at taxpayer expense over the weekend, then the standard segue into 300 words about Russia. There is literally no actual “news” in this story at all.

But Matt Drudge wants you to believe that it is the most earth-shattering story of this day, January 15, 2019.

Hey, when is someone going to write the real “news” story on this fake government shutdown, which is that, here we are, 26 days into it, and the biggest impact on the public at large that the AP can find is some whiny jackass at Atlanta Hartsfield Airport who is having to wait in line maybe 15 minutes longer than he normally would when travelling out of that particular location?

Think about it: We had 800,000 federal workers missing a paycheck on Monday, more than half of whom are furloughed, and that’s the biggest impact anyone can find? What in the hell do all those people do every day? Why do the taxpayers keep having to fund hundreds of thousands of expensive jobs that provide no public benefit or impact? And if you, like 98% of our fake news media, want to blame something on the evil Orange Man, why isn’t anyone in the Trump Administration using this as an opportunity to identify government waste and invite most if not all of these furloughed workers to make their furloughs permanent?

Isn’t that the real story here?  When is someone going to write that one?

Wait, I guess I just did. Somehow, I don’t think that story will be getting linked at the Drudge Report anytime soon.  Doesn’t fit the narrative, you know.

Oh, hey, another Democrat wasting her time running for President. – This one would be New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, whose time came and went four years ago and she didn’t realize it.  Or, more accurately, she lacked the courage to take on the Clintons.

Four years ago, she was the far-left (well, far-left for four years ago, anyway) pretty face who could have theoretically attracted younger voters. Today, she’s just another face in a very big crowd. Not as pretty as Kamala Harris or Tulsi Gabbard, not cutting edge in any way, lacking any signature issue or win she can point to, not nearly far-left enough for the Millennial Democrat voters who prefer a true Commie like Bernie Sanders or the endlessly cute Beto instead.

Two years ago, Sen. Gillibrand thought that using the “F” and “S” words a lot in her speeches would help her presidential ambitions come true, because some pollster told her Millennials like politicians who curse a lot in public. Irish Bob O’Rourke is the prime example of this tactic resulting in some success, though not enough to beat Ted Cruz. But it didn’t work at all for Ms. Gillibrand, so she dropped it after awhile.

A year ago, when the whole #MeToo thing started picking off all manner of high-profile liberals, Gillibrand, who had been an ardent apologist for Bill Clinton for a quarter of a century, suddenly decided to publicly go after her hero.  That burst of intestinal fortitude lasted about five minutes, probably until someone reminded her of all the dirt the Pantsuit Princess has collected against pretty much everyone in Washington. Then Gillibrand timidly scurried back into her Clinton apologist corner.

Bottom line, Sen. Gillibrand is wasting her time. Don’t let her waste any of yours.

That is all.

Renewed Media Focus on Russia Means the Border Issue is Going Badly for the Democrats

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

You know they’re in trouble when they start recycling fake news stories. – The fake editors at the Wall Street Journal have become so desperate they now feel the need to recycle Trump outrage stories in their unending efforts to keep the Democrat rabble roused.

Over the weekend the Journal recycled the story from a year and a half ago that President Donald Trump did not allow note-takers in his first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in mid-2017. This is not news – this is a story that the entirety of the fake news media obsessed about endlessly in the wake of that long-ago meeting.

The lack of note-takers in the meeting between the leaders of these two countries is also nothing unprecedented or even unusual, as the fake reporters and editors well know. Hell, Barack Obama and John Kerry held secret meetings with the Mullahs in Iran for almost two years with no one taking notes, then shipped $1.6 billion in hard currency to them in the back of a jet, and no one at the Journal said boo about it. Yet the Journal’s fake reporters make it seem as if this is something only Donald Trump would have ever imagine doing.

As Trump pointed out at the time, he didn’t want anyone else in the meeting because he didn’t want the details of the discussion leaking out to the media. At the time in question, the President was so plagued with leaks that he was unable to hold telephone conversations with foreign leaders without the details being leaked and appearing in the fake media an hour later. Portraying this as anything else is a conscious lie, and a disgrace to the Journal and to the dying journalistic profession, such as it exists in America today.

The Journal’s disgrace follows on the heels of other fake media reports in the last few days about Trump and Putin/Russia, as the media/Democrat axis of disinformation desperately attempts to shift public attention away from the whole border controversy, which was not playing well for the Democrats as they vacationed at taxpayer expense on the beaches of Puerto Rico over the weekend.

Here are a couple of other headlines we saw from fake news usual suspects in the past few days:

FBI Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of RussiaNew York Times

Trump has Concealed Details of his Face-to-Face Encounters With Putin From Senior Officials in AdministrationWashington Post

The Times’ reporters managed to write 1,500 words or so on their subject without ever mentioning the fact that the “inquiry” in question was ordered in early 2017 by then-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe.  Gosh, wonder why?

Could it be that the fake journalists decided to leave that key fact out of their story because McCabe is himself a disgrace, a snake who was fired for his repeated efforts to mislead internal FBI investigators and currently finds himself the subject of criminal investigation? Yeah, it could be that. That’s where the smart money is, anyway.

Look, McCabe was clearly a central figure in the corrupt DOJ/FBI cabal that attempted to fix the 2016 election for Hillary Clinton, abusing the FISA process to illegally spy on the Trump Campaign and Transition Team. That Cabal did its best to frame the President into an obstruction of justice charge that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has, after 20 months of trying, been unable to substantiate. Of course, this despicable deep state skunk had an “inquiry” going against the duly-elected President of the United States – he had been working to try to bring the man down for a year by then.

The Post story is just sort of an extension of the Journal’s bit of news-fakery, 1,000 words about pretty much nothing other than a President plagued by leaks not knowing who he can trust, trying to keep everything he says off of the front page of the Washington Post. Of course he isn’t sharing every detail of his conversations with Putin or anyone else with some of his senior officials, especially with those who no doubt served as the anonymous “sources” for this very story.

These are all nothing-burger stories planted by agenda-driven “sources”, written by agenda-driven fake reporters and approved by agenda-driven editors for the sole purpose of creating a new narrative.

Think about the timing of them: They all came right at the time several hundred thousand federal workers were about to miss their first paycheck due to the ongoing partial government shutdown. The reliable fake-newsers at CNN dummied up a fake poll over the weekend (because of course they did) that purports to show most Americans blaming the President for the shutdown, but the issue is obviously not playing well for the Democrats.  Otherwise, we would not be seeing this frenzied rash of Russia-related fake news from the Democrats’ media support system.

The key to remember here is that the Democrats and their media agents are always pushing a narrative based on their polling and focus group data. The fact that they are back to pushing this fake Trump/Russia narrative at this particular point in time tells us that they are very concerned with how the whole border security issue is playing for them. If the issue were playing well for the Democrats, the media would be pushing that narrative 24 hours a day.

All of this is why, if you’ve been expecting President Trump to be the first to blink in the government shutdown standoff with San Fran Nan and Chuck Schumer, you should probably re-calibrate your thinking.

That is all.
