Another Lefty in Blackface and 50 Years of Climate Alarmism

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

What is it with leftist politicians and this blackface thing? – Was it just a really big deal among white lefties in the 1980s and 1990s to do blackface parties? Asking because, having never been a lefty, I would have never been invited to their shindigs (all you Millennials and Gen-Zers will have to google that reference).

Anyways, leftist Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has now achieved the Ralph Northam and Hillary Clinton badge of honor, as a photo of him in full blackface (the fawning Canadian press is calling it “brownface” as if that makes it all better) at a party that supposedly took place in 2001 has gone public. Oh, and check out the placement of his hand, also painted black – it’s like he’s channeling Joe Biden:

Of course, Trudeau was just 29 at the time, so presumably his defense will be that he was just young and stupid at that time, whereas now he is 48 and still stupid. So, I’m not sure that defense is going to work out for him.

But something had better work, since this new revelation comes in the midst of his campaign for re-election. The incident just adds trouble atop an already troubled situation, as Trudeau has been plagued by allegations that he improperly interfered in a corruption case against an engineering company that had been a supporter of his election. Trudeau has denied any improprieties, but two members of his cabinet felt so strongly that his administration had acted improperly that they tendered their resignations.

But hey, Northam’s own blackface photo surfaced a year ago now, and he’s still in office, living fat and happy with no one in the Democrat Party or the U.S. fake news media bothering to talk about him anymore. Given that Canada’s media is every bit as fake as America’s, you have to assume he’ll survive. After all, being a racist is fine if your politics are “correct.” Right? Right.

Kudos to Tony Heller and the Competitive Enterprise Institute – Myron Ebell and Steven J. Milloy, working in conjunction with Climate Realist Tony Heller, have published a wonderful compilation of the last 50 years of failed climate change alarmist predictions at the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI). Everyone should take the time to go through it.

We tend to be lulled by the massive climate scam propaganda industry into believing that climate alarmism is some sort of recent thing. But the truth, as Heller catalogs daily at his RealClimateScience website and Twitter feed is that this has all been going on in our fake news media for a century or more. Ebell and Milloy take their piece back to 1967 because that was the year that the greatest climate fraud before Al Gore, Paul Ehrlich, began to come to prominence in the media, using his dire predictions at the time of a new ice age that was always just around the corner.

One early Ehrlich statement, from 1969, that really grabs the attention is this one from an article in the reliable old New York Times: “The problem with almost all environmental problems, says Paul Ehrlich, the population biologist, “is that by the time we have enough evidence to convince people, you’re dead.”

And yet, here we are 50 years later, somehow still alive, and with the fake news media still somehow referencing Ehrlich, who has alternately said we’d all be dead from an ice age, overpopulation, famine, the ozone hole, acid rain and global warming, as some sort of credible figure on the subject.

So, what has really happened over that half-century span, as alarmists have worked to raise public fears over all manner of environmental problems, both real and imagined? Our environment has almost immeasurably cleaner, thanks to the miracle of human ingenuity and technological advancement.

The ice age that Ehrlich predicted to come by the 1990s never came. Nor did the mass famines he said would kill billions by 1980s due to overpopulation, thanks to gigantic advancements in crop yields and food distribution networks. According to data compiled by the World Bank, almost half the global population lived in extreme poverty in 1970. Today, fewer than 10% do.

Remember acid rain? That problem was effectively dealt with and today is almost non-existent. How about that hole in the ozone layer? Remember how that was going to kill everyone when it was discovered over Antartica in 1985? This week it was reported to be the smallest it has been in decades, thanks to technology and human ingenuity.

In the 1970s, due mainly to lax regulation of coal-fired power plants and car emissions, the air in the United States was frankly putrid, dangerous to breathe in places like Los Angeles and New York and Pittsburgh and Detroit. Today, thanks to advancing technology and human ingenuity, our air is light years cleaner. Indeed, the successful removal of well over 95% of all real pollutants from our air was one of the motivations for the alarmist community to shift focus to claiming that CO2 – the very basis for life on earth – is now a danger.

Also in the 1970s, water in the U.S. was a horror story in many parts of the country. Rivers were still used by cities as outlets for raw sewage flows. The Cuyahoga River in Cleveland was so dirty and filled with refuse from refineries and other industrial plants that it actually caught fire in 1969. That incident and other horror tales led to the passage of the Clean Water Act shortly thereafter, and thanks to human ingenuity and technological advancement, water all over America is vastly cleaner today.

All of those things and many more have happened in the last half-century, since Ehrlich predicted we’d all be dead because nobody cared.

It turns out that Americans care a lot about the environment. What Americans don’t care much for is being constantly lied to by charlatans and scammers like Ehrlich, Gore and the climate alarmist fear lobby.

Thanks to Ebell, Malloy and Heller for reminding us all of that today.

That is all.

Trump Should Sign the Bad Border Deal and Finish the Wall on His Own

Today’s Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Ok, the whole “black face” thing  just very predictably veered off into the theater of the absurd. – Semi-tone deaf pop singer Katy Perry fell into the “black face” controversy on Monday for no good reason at all, because of course she did.  Social media always takes any real issue like the one swirling around Virginia Democrats to the most ridiculous extremes possible.

Ms. Perry has attached her name to a line of shoes, and some, like those pictured above, have little eyes, nose and mouth glued onto them.  Sort of like something your 6 year-old granddaughter might design (trust me, I know about this first hand). Anyway, because the shoes pictured above happen to be black in color, a bunch of nitwits on Twitter desperate to be offended accused the singer of being a racist yesterday.

Never mind the fact that the line of shoes come in a variety of different colors – it’s only the black ones that are somehow offensive. Ms. Perry has yet to apologize, something she should never even consider doing in a million years. Because the truth is this: Had her line of shoes included a variety of colors, but not black ones, she’d have then been accused by the very same nitwits of discrimination. You all know that is true.

The people who know “Beto” best would rather go see Trump. Take this as an object lesson. – When the White House announced last Thursday that President Donald Trump would travel to El Paso for a political rally on Monday, Irish Bob O’Rourke, an El Paso native, quickly announced he would hold a “counter-rally” of his own.

Hearts began to flutter throughout our fake news media – as they always do whenever the cute ex-sheep suit-wearing punk rocker opens his mouth – as the wags began to rampantly speculate that their precious “Beto” would surely draw more people to his rally than the President would. After all, El Paso was his home town!  Why surely the people who know and love “Beto” best would turn out in mobs to hear his immaculate pronouncements!

Uh, well, no. That didn’t happen. Not even close. The fake news media did its best to cover it up, but the reality is that the President had an overflow crowd of 8,000 or so inside the arena in which he spoke, and another 20,000 or so standing out in the elements watching on large TV screens. Here’s a shot of a small part of that outdoor crowd:

Meanwhile, a few blocks down the road, only a couple of thousand showed up to listen to the city’s fake favorite son. It turns out that familiarity really does breed contempt.

But the reality won’t stop the fake news media from lying about it all anyway. The shameless fake newsers at The Week have a piece out this morning with this headline:  “Trump Seemed Very Interested in Beto O’Rourke’s Evidently Larger Crowd During His El Paso Rally,” thus deceitfully implying that Irish Bob actually drew more people than Trump did, something not even the most biased fake reporters on the scene attempted to claim.

How false is that headline?  Despite massively inflating O’Rourke’s actual turnout by a factor of seven or so, The Week’s own piece admits the Trump crowd was far larger:

Trump’s audience inside the coliseum was 6,500, at capacity, El Paso Fire Department public information officer Enrique Aguilar told the El Paso Times. “It might be 10,000 with the people outside,” watching on monitors. The rally O’Rourke spoke at, following a mile-long march, drew at least 7,000 people, The Texas Tribune reports.

Um, last time I looked, 10,000 is more than 7,000, even when those absurdly-faked numbers appear in a fake news publication like The Week.

Another bad deal on the border. – The very Swampy congressional negotiators announced a very, very, very bad “bi-partisan” deal on border security funding as President Trump was flying out to Texas on Monday. The “deal” includes just $1.375 for “border barrier” funding – because we mustn’t say “wall”, you know – far below the President’s $5.7 billion demand. It’s a lousy deal, negotiated by lousy Republican swamp rats and open-borders Democrats. The outcome was thus predictable.

If this smelly “deal” passes both houses of congress and is sent to his desk, the President has only three options that would preserve his electoral viability going into 2020:

  • Reject the bill, which means another fake partial government shutdown; or
  • Sign the bill and immediately announce either a national emergency declaration or, as White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney laid out on Sunday, that he will use his presidential authority to reallocate unused funds from the Defense, Homeland Security and other departmental budgets to fund the wall.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Mulvaney said:

“Any president can do this…There are certain funds of money that he can get to without declaring a national emergency and other funds that he can only get to after declaring a national emergency. The whole pot is well north of $5.7 billion.”

That is the path the President should take. The Democrats are desperate to force another shutdown in order to change the subject from racist, baby-murdering, women-assaulting Virginia Democrats, disastrous Green New Deals and anti-Semite Minnesota congresswomen. So they’ll be all too thrilled to deny more paychecks to those same 800,000 federal workers and cry their crocodile tears over them.

The President should not give them that gift when he has them so clearly on the defensive.

What President Trump cannot do is sign this atrocity of a “deal” and do nothing else on border security. More than any other element of his 2016 campaign, his promise to secure our Southern border is why he was elected. He cannot leave that promise unaddressed any longer and expect to be re-elected in 2020.

The time to act is now.

That is all.
