Try as They Might, the Democrats Cannot Kill the American Spirit

Tired of all this #WINNING yet? – The stock market continues to boom as the Trump economy keeps out-performing the predictions of the media’s favorite “experts.” The Dow Jones Industrial average temporarily topped 28,000 on Tuesday for the first time since February, before falling back slightly. The NASDAQ and S&P 500 set new all-time record highs on almost a daily basis.

Another indicator that the economy is recovering at a more rapid pace than expected is the price of crude oil, which has been remarkably stable for two full months now after several months of extreme volatility and one day when it even dropped below zero. The West Texas Intermediate benchmark that is used to determine most domestic transactions has held within a range of $39 to $42 per barrel for 8 weeks now, with a steady upwards trend.

Saudi Aramco’s CEO stated last week that his company sees Asian crude demand now virtually the same as it was prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the U.S., we have now had two consecutive weeks of huge drawdowns in crude inventories, a strong sign that the global oil market has essentially come back into balance.

All of this is happening despite the efforts of Democrat governors all over the country to use the China virus as an excuse to keep vast parts of their economies locked down as they try to influence the outcome of the presidential election. This is a truly despicable tactic employed by despicable people who believe that the ends of obtaining political power justify any repugnant means they decide to employ.

But even with that, the Trump economy – America’s economy – is just too strong to kill. The American spirit remains too strong to die.

In the midst of all the COVID lockdowns and restrictions, my wife and I took a road trip with some family members two weeks ago. We traveled through Arkansas, stopping for a night at Hot Springs, where we stayed in a downtown hotel. Every person we interacted with there was happy, upbeat and going about their business as Americans tend to do despite all of the dumb and ineffective COVID mandates like wearing masks and limited restaurant capacity.

We next traveled across Tennessee, stopping for a night in Nashville, where we again stayed in a lovely downtown hotel. There we had the exact same experience as we did in Hot Springs, as everyone we dealt with was a happy, real American going about their business, not some smartass nitwits wasting their time screaming on Twitter.

Next up was Gatlinburg and the incredible Smoky Mountain National Park, where we had to contend with literally thousands of Americans who were all friendly, helpful, going about their business and living their best lives. We spent two nights in Memphis on the way home and again had the very same experience before making the long drive back to Texas.

Along the way, I was struck by the scenic beauty across the entire states of Arkansas and Tennessee, states in which neither of us had spent much time in the past. Oh, and we also went for a long hike just across the state line in North Carolina, which was incredibly beautiful, too. I’ve now visited 41 of the 50 states in my life, and what you come to understand when you travel that much is that, once you get out of the big cities, our country is an incredibly beautiful masterpiece of God’s hands from sea to shining sea, and beyond to Hawaii and Alaska.

As we have sat somewhat locked-down in our homes over the past several months and spent far too much time watching the painful coverage of the big-city riots since June, it has been easy to get into the mindset that everything is bad, and that America is falling apart. That mindset is completely wrong.

America remains America, and Americans remain Americans. Twitter is not real life – it is a public cesspool dominated by blue-check wonders who hate our country and suffer with massive inferiority complexes.

This is why the Trump economy – America’s economy – will not and cannot be killed no matter how hard the communist Democrats try. America is not falling apart, and the indomitable spirit of Americans will ultimately prevail through this current crisis.

My wife and I enjoyed our road trip so much that we are about to take off on another one today, this one across the wonderful state of Louisiana, which for us has long been a bit of a second home. America is still America, and there is no more uniquely American place than Louisiana.

We’re going to see and enjoy some more of America before summer is over. I’ll still be posting every day, but probably not quite as extensively as normal.

God bless you, and America.

That is all.

Today’s news moves at a faster pace than ever. Whatfinger is my go-to source for keeping up with all the latest events in real time.

Best wishes–this is actually a great time to travel, given the difficulties of the airlines and hospitality industries.

I don’t travel often, but when I do (sounds like a beer commercial….) I like to go by train if possible.

The New Mexico governor now states that she wants to make all these shut-down restrictions permanent. Is anyone surprised that these statists do not want to relinquish their new unconstitutional powers?

She needs to be removed from office, but New Mexico may be too far gone.

    1. Rick - August 12, 2020

I and my wife had traveled to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico last month and can verify that what the Governor has done is horrible even by New York standards, but even there some of the people are trying to fight back.

This is a case of states rights versus the equal protection clause. She’s gonna lose. The big IF is whether somebody in NM is going to get up the courage to go after her over it.

    Great morning tweets by Trump.

    1. Stuartswede - August 12, 2020

Can you please link the tweets? I’m not a twitter ninja. (hope that’s not cultural appropriation)

      1. phineas gage - August 12, 2020

I don’t twitter either–Dave posts them on the sidebar of the page here.

Happy and safe travels Mr Blackmon.

I agree that once you get OUT of the cities there is an entirely different world. Unfortunately the communists that tend to occupy cities scream for attention like banshees. Distracting everyone to whats around them.

Both canukistan and the US have some of the best vistas to enjoy in the world. We’ve driven the coast from Washington to Commiefornia and its breath taking beautiful, albeit expensive because of communist control. Went to the Carlsbad Cave and White Sands in NM, drove the flat lands of fly over country, the Smokey Mountains, Kentucky, Tennessee into N Carolina. ALL very gorgeous lands and wonderful people we met.

The media is amplifying the communist noise to epic heights and makes it appear as if the world is burning. Not mitigating the danger of them succeeding because they can and will if vigilance isn’t exercised. There is a LOT to be proud of, outside of the cities, and the grit’n national pride is one of those things.

Thank you again for a great site and safe travels….

It sure doesn’t look like “winning” to me when there have still been NO ARRESTS for treason. How much more kabuki must we endure?

    1. brian - August 12, 2020

There has been a targeting of corrupt politicals for prosecution, some going to jail and more to come. Its actually encouraging. You could say its a way of draining the swamp. The treason charges hopefully are coming but also don’t want to minimize the large, un-noticed mostly, political cleaning taking place.

my 20 yr old and girlfriend went to Yellowstone and are in Zion today. Good crowds and nice people. God bless America.

I only bend a knee for God and lame statist control freaks are to mocked and laughed at not emboldened.
No one ever said that freedom was free and enemies can also be domestic.
We are infiltrated by a CCP owned fifth column and things will get interesting.
Chesty Puller was never afraid and you shouldn’t be either.
Don’t fold when zero hour comes because we were meant to be here at this time.

Market right on the edge of passing 28,000 again.

  10. Silas - August 12, 2020

I don’y much care to travel. Got that out of my system when I in the Air Force. But where I work brings me into contact with a diverse number of folks and they are to a one, fed up with the nonsense. And like Dave has expressed, they are all of good spirit and congeniality.

The media is bombarding the nation with crap being produced by a few cities and states. It’s going to backfire on them immensely. Most reasoning people are now getting their news via the
interwebs and no longer trust the media.

Took a trip to the Florida Keys in March just as all this insanity was beginning and enjoyed the locals at Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Ft. Meyers and Key West. Highly recommend the drive along the Keys. Also love the “Redneck Rivera” on the FL Panhandle.

I too have been to 41 states and wanted to visit them all, but now I have no desire to visit most of them now which are on the west coast and the ones south of CO & UT and the gambling mecca.

With the exception of AK, AZ, and ME, the other six states can go…

  12. riverreg - August 12, 2020

Just 76 miles across Mississippi on I-10 and you are in Alabama the Beautiful. Another 75 miles and you are on the great Alabama Gulf Coast with it’s crystal white “sugar sand” beaches and the friendliest people you will ever meet. While you are in Louisianan you should think about an excursion to Alabama.

  13. LadyJane - August 12, 2020

Thank so much for the uplifting column Dave. I really enjoyed reading it.

On vacation last year, we took a one day tour of New York City and I’m so glad I took my picture of Trump Tower. It’s so sad to see what it’s become but I blame the people who live there. They keep voting these communist dictators into office and run out of their cities instead of staying and fighting.

Here, they’re leaving Chicago and the rest of Illinois like rats but do you think they’ve learned their lesson. I doubt it.

Anyway, have a great time on your trip. You deserve it

  14. jonahlomu - August 12, 2020

David, have a great time with your wife! You all deserve it. America remains beautiful and amazing. We all need to be driving through our state / states to really appreciate the blessing of our nation.

  15. Steve - August 12, 2020

As a Brit, this is why I love America and have such great respect for your great nation. You guys don’t just roll over like most of we Europeans do. A victory for DJT in Nov will be a victory for all good, decent people everywhere!

I’m sure you’ve noticed the oddity that every commonwealth country is now an overrun socialist nightmare. Having gone from a world war ll mentality of young people lying about their age to get into the fight defending their country, and knowing there was a good chance they’ll die somewhere called ‘not home’. To what, some 80 years later, is now people cowering in their homes afraid of everything and having the same overlords their parents and grandparents fought against with blood.

Here in canukistan there is still limited opposition in the flatland. Here on the west coast, we’ve been led by communists for decades. Thats why our mining, fishing, forestry and farming has been devastated. Our once formidable military reduced to nothing really, a joke. The result of once proud, commonwealth heritage reduced to marxist debt, upheaval with everything good being vilified and banned.

So I agree… The US patriots winning this next battle will be a win for all decent folks. A good example of what we need to do in our own countries.

  16. michaelh - August 12, 2020

This is beautiful! America is beautiful, we are winning, and we will beat these CCP backed D’s in November!

All hands on deck until November! But hold your heads high and don’t lose hope that we can win this fight!

  17. marty lopez - August 12, 2020

Oh, but they can and they will too given the chance. I think the time has come for us all to put on our big boy pants and accept the devil that is staring us in the face.

Democrats have abandoned any & all commitment to the historical, traditional & institutional norms that have made America a free, open and pluralistic society. It is clear they no longer respect, nor will necessarily accept democratic outcomes they don’t approve. As a Party, they now openly embrace electoral fraud. To pretend otherwise is simply beyond absurd. They embraced illegal, unconstitutional impeachment proceedings simply because they could and found them to be expedient and convenient.

It occurs to me that trying to work with Democrats has come to resemble negotiating with communists while at the same time fighting them in the field. They talk only as a tactic and you cannot rely on anything they say. They can be counted on to lie about anything and will betray any agreement. To continue to naively attempt to partner with the Democratic Party in hopes of facilitating an orderly & lawful, two party, democratic form of republican government will inevitably prove to be a form of institutionalized suicide.
