Thursday News Roundup: The COVID-19 Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves

The beatings will continue until morale improves. – California Governor Gavin Newsom re-implemented lockdown orders yesterday in 19 of the state’s most populous counties, as reported by Fox News:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a new round of lockdown measures Wednesday, ordering 19 counties to close all indoor operations for several business sectors, including restaurants, as the state grapples with a resurgence of coronavirus cases.

In addition to bars being forced to shut down temporarily, restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, family entertainment venues, zoos, museums and cardrooms must halt operations in selected communities, Newsom said Wednesday.

Businesses can continue to operate if they can move operations outdoors.

“This doesn’t mean restaurants are shut down,” Newsom, a Democrat, said at a briefing. “It means that we’re trying to take the activities, as many activities as we can — these mixed activities, these concentrated activities — and move them outdoors, which is a way of mitigating the spread of this virus.”

The list of affected counties ran up and down the state: Contra Costa, Fresno, Glenn, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Merced, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Tulare and Ventura counties.

[End]

So, thousands more businesses hampered beyond profitability or lost completely, tens of thousands more Californians back to the unemployment roles, all in a re-try of a strategy that has already been proven to be utterly ineffective.

And that’s not all:

Beaches in Los Angeles County, along with piers and bicycle paths, will close beginning Friday through Monday in an effort to prevent a repeat of Memorial Day weekend when large crowds gathered in close proximity and largely ignored safety measures.

All parking facilities at state beaches in Southern California and the Bay Area will also be closed for the upcoming weekend. The closures reverse the reopening process that began weeks ago after months of unprecedented lockdowns.

The state first began to “toggle back” reopenings over the weekend when it ordered bar closures in seven counties that are seeing increases in infections.

Ahead of the holiday weekend, the governor has voiced concerns about people gathering with friends and family, which he said could lead to complacency and more virus transmissions. He is also urging municipalities to rethink firework displays.

[End]

Ok, so no gathering with friends and family? But what about all those riots and protests and demonstrations by the Antifa/BLM domestic terrorist arm of the Democrat Party?

Oh, hey, those are fine:

Well of course they are. Allowing this dichotomy of government action to continue to go on is inhumanly depraved. People can’t go to church, can’t attend movies, can’t hug their grandparents, can’t let their children play in a park or on a beach without the Democrat governor or mayor sending in the police. But let 5,000 potential rioters pack themselves tightly into a public space for a few hours to chant obscene slogans advocating de-funding and murdering police officers, and the governors and mayors can’t be bothered to lift a finger.

You just could never make this stuff up, folks, not in a million bazillion years.

Meanwhile, in Texas, a different kind of protest action rose up. – Taking a cue from the leftists at Antifa/BLM, a Kilgore bar owner organized what he calls the “Bar Lives Matter” protest against the orders of Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Wednesday:

Austin, Texas protest lockdown bars

From a story at the New York Post:

Bar owners in Texas staged a protest in reaction to the state’s order to shut them down for a second time due to the coronavirus, reports said.

Tee Allen Parker, owner of the Machine Shed Bar and Grille, named Tuesday’s event “Bar Lives Matter” in an apparent reference to the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality.

Parker, whose establishment is in Kilgore, Texas, roughly two hours south of Dallas, is already suing Texas Gov. Greg Abbot over the bar closures — which he claims are devastating his livelihood and forcing many of his peers into bankruptcy, according to CBS Austin.

“This one individual is picking and choosing winners and losers,” Jared Woodfill, an attorney for Parker, told the outlet. “Gov. Abbott has chosen to sentence bar owners to bankruptcy.”

As a part of its most recent coronavirus order, Texas did not close down or limit capacity at other businesses — like hair salons, tattoo parlors, and nail studios. The order did require restaurants to operate at 50 percent capacity.

“You can’t tell me that my tiny little bar is the problem. He’s the problem,” Parker previously told the Washington Post. “He’s targeting us, and it’s discrimination.”

[End]

I have been an off-and-on fan of Gov. Abbott, but it is very hard to argue with Parker’s statement that the Governor and his “Strike Force” of advisors, not the bars, are the real problem. Just like Newsom, Gov. Abbott has done next-to-nothing to crack down on the massive demonstrations and protest actions that include no social distancing and very little mask-wearing that happened in Texas’s major cities during June. Similarly, Abbott continues to do next-to-nothing to educate the Texas public about the massive fraud the state’s hospitals are committing in their reporting of new “cases” in their craven efforts to grab as much federal money as possible.

To single out bars amid all of the other establishments at which Texans congregate closely in groups is obviously discriminatory and very likely violates both the U.S. and Texas constitutions. From April through June, it was easy to pound solely on Democrat governors for their depravity in the face of this viral gift from China, but Abbott and Arizona’s Mike Ducey are making it very difficult to continue drawing that distinction.

Better temper that optimism over a Wuhan Virus “vaccine.” – Stocks all over the world rose overnight and the U.S. markets are poised for a big opening today due to optimistic news regarding the development of several COVID-19 vaccines.

From a Reuters story:

NEW YORK, July 1 (Reuters) – U.S. stocks moved higher on Wednesday as rising hopes of a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine eased concerns another round of lockdowns was likely following a record surge in coronavirus cases in the United States.

Pfizer Inc’s shares rose nearly 5% after the drugmaker said a COVID-19 vaccine being developed with German biotech firm BioNTech showed promise and was found to be well-tolerated in early-stage human trials.

The gains made Pfizer shares one of the top boosts to both the S&P 500 and Dow Industrials while U.S.-listed shares of BioNTech gained more than 8%, helping improve the mood on Wall Street after the United States registered 47,000 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the biggest one-day spike since the start of the pandemic.

Investors were also encouraged by some upbeat economic data as coronavirus-induced lockdowns have eased. A report on Wednesday showed a slump in global manufacturing had ebbed in June, with U.S. figures hitting their highest level in more than a year.

[End]

That all sounds great, right? Trouble is, the day before we saw this announcement largely ignored by our corrupt news media:

Do you understand what that’s telling you? It’s telling you that the FDA is planning to refer to any medical treatment that produces 50% better results than a damn sugar pill as a “vaccine.” What exactly is 50% better than zero?

So, if you still labor under the illusion that Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates are going to ride to the rescue this coming winter with a miracle cure for the Wuhan Virus, you are in for one enormous disappointment.

That’s not going to happen.

Our country must do the same thing with COVID-19 that we have done with every previous flu strain: Learn to live with it. Protect the most vulnerable, practice common sense safety measures and effectively treat those who become ill. All of this other stuff and fear porn flying around in the public domain thanks mainly to Fauci, our main current national menace, is just so much nonsense designed frighten you into submission.

We are in a very dangerous place at the moment. Be careful out there.

That is all.

Today’s news moves at a faster pace than ever. Whatfinger.com is my go-to source for keeping up with all the latest events in real time.

Before Gingrich and his GOP controlled congress forced welfare reform upon a newly superficially politically pragmatic BJ Clinton, our ‘welfare’ system effectively paid poor women to have babies without forcing the father(s) to support their child(ren). The results were and are predictable.

When the federal government pays hospitals and other private and government organizations to find report/record additional CV-19 “cases” and gives even more financial incentive to record most deaths as CV-19 “related” just because people happened to have died during the Plandemic; Guess What! We are going to have a “surge” in reported “cases”. Also simple math says when you test more people, you are going to see more “cases” Duh! Really! No Kidding!

How is it that no one in power anywhere sees this obvious correlation? The reality is if only ten percent of the country has CV-19 we are going to have close to 33 MILLION “cases”. So what!

President Trump needs to expose that reality and make the case that the country needs to be open and fulling functioning so that people can catch and develop self immunity and we move on. Why can’t we have that conversation Mr. President? Why can’t you develop a coherent and factually accurate and consistent message with your Surgeon General and explain it to all Americans? If this can’t be done for whatever reason, why do we need a Surgeon General?

I remember getting mailers from Reagan’s Surgeon General, C Everett Koop in the eighties explaining what was known about HIV/AIDS. With the additional help of the internet, why can’t the same be done now?

Why can’t Fraudi and his girlfriend, the scarf queen, be exposed and fired? The mailer can also explain why they are fired.

I believe the President had no choice but to follow the ‘advice’ of his CDC “experts” with the dire predictions of 2+ million deaths and the need to “flatten the curve”. Well the CURVE HAS BEEN FLATTENED FOR MONTHS. It is time the careers of all the anti-America frauds in government at all levels to be FLATTENED! This bullschiff will continue though November and will miraculously end on Nov 4 if Trump is beaten.

Why can’t anyone in the Trump Administration and the GOP governors see that they are being rolled and set up for defeat?

I’ve been to the Machine Shed. It needs to be closed down, but not because of the virus….it’s redneck ghetto…

    1. BarrybinInhalin - July 2, 2020

What we’re you doing there, Stephen? Or just observing the trash? How many beers did you have?

    2. Gregg - July 2, 2020

      WTF are you talking about?

Thanks, DB, for another great posting. Totally agree with your last paragraph re: “Learn to live with it.”
For myself, I see this scamdemic as nothing more than an attempt to take down President Donald J. Trump. To keep him from being re-elected. To destroy this nation, and to continue to hide the corruptness and incompetence of the previous administrations.
That is all it is. The last ditch effort to bring about a total collapse of the greatest nation on the face of the planet, aided by a faux “race” issue.
This weekend will be interesting to see how the left attempts to shutdown the celebrations around the country. And the response from the patriots will be epic and worthy of watching.
    MAGA2020.

Fauci is already searching for the new pandemic over in China right now….he claims to have another “swine flu” on deck after this Coup Flu dies.
      It`s not a pandemic….it`s a political football.

I don’t wear the panty mask except to the hospital to pick up my prescriptions.
They removed the clerk sitting behind plexiglass and you don’t have to sign a waiver.
Each time I went for RX pickup over the last three months it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop
I travelled to the state next door a dozen times during the plandemic and used rest stop and gas station rest rooms.
Hand washing and basic everyday hygiene protocols were followed at all times.
Bad things happen when people have a 20 second attention span and let the CCP owned enemedia and teevee think for them.

    1. Silas - July 2, 2020

Here in Oregon Wreck It Kate Brown, our supposed governor, decreed we must wear a mask in public places. I still won’t wear it walking outside, but to prevent those business I support from getting screwed by the state I wear it.

Just once stupid example. You can go to restaurant, but you have to wear the mask while waiting for or walking to or from your table. Once at the table, you can take it off. If customers don’t comply and someone either snitches or a health inspector catches them not complying, the business can be shutdown.

Insanity. But that’s what tyrants do.

    2. karenlivesmatter - July 2, 2020

hahahaha I just bought a pair of crotchless lace panties to wear as a facemask… you should see the looks I get…

  6. brian - July 2, 2020

Political cowardice seems to have taken hold in Texas… of all places.

C Evert Coop was probably one of, if not the best Surgeon Gneeral the US has ever had. A brilliant God fearing man that pioneered many surgical procedures in common use today. Gregg has posed the question many are asking… WHY President Trump, do you keep listening to Flaccid Faucci on ANYTHING??? WHY haven’t you allowed your surgeon general to run the covid response team??? WHY has Pence been so ineffective?? The last question is easy to answer, because he doesn’t have the political cohona’s to take a solid stand against the demoncrap led lockdown propaganda.

Why close down bars?? I can think of a reason. Bars are where people go to socialize… and talk. Can’t have the serfs gathering and talking malcontent. They may be stirred to action so its best to keep ‘social’ sites closed. Its not about safety… its about control

    Its a war….

  7. Jimmy MacAfee - July 2, 2020

Dave, I don’t mean to be unkind, but a placebo isn’t zero: it’s not a fake, either. A placebo can have a substantial effect, and if a medicine works better than placebo – say 15 % – they consider it a rousing success. Medicine is not what most people think it is.

Business Week did a study on NNTs (Numbers Needed to Treat) that showed the whole statin scheme was a complete and utter fraud – as far as cholesterol being the culprit in most heart disease. Most doctors know little or nothing about NNTs, and they don’t want to know. NNTs can alter their belief systems, in a way that affects their belief in the gods of Pig Pharma.

The placebo effect is not a fake, and even Web MD misrepresents it – as mostly a psychological phenomenon, based upon belief systems. That’s what they say about a lot of things – like homeopathy, but I’ve seen it work on a cat with an ear infection that antibiotics couldn’t touch. The cat has no belief systems, and therefore could not be influenced.

It is true that the effect is sometimes, especially in the case of pain, part of the system that regulates dopamine, i.e. the nucleus accumbens.

However, there is a placebo effect even for antibiotics and other drugs, where the body fixes the problem itself (which it does in the majority of disease processes anyway, until the body is overwhelmed by whatever is attacking it.)

So they’re making the assumption that a certain percentage of people will have immune systems that are resilient to the virus. That’s a given. The placebo group is basically the control group, and doesn’t measure WHY the control group doesn’t get sick – that’s a flaw in the double-blind studies, anyway.

I’ve seen such shoddy studies, where the placebo (control group) was obviously manipulated and contained something that shouldn’t have been there. This one study was a large, supposedly Cadillac study comparing Glucosamine vs. a Placebo vs NSAIDS. One would expect that NSAIDS, proven to relieve pain, would be superior, but they fared about the same as the Glucosamine! The placebo, on the other hand, outshone both of the others!

So when someone takes a drug, there will automatically be a placebo effect. Let’s say that the drug is 65% effective; 40% of that may be placebo, leaving an actual benefit of 25%.
That’s why 50% is such a big deal.

Retroactive studies of flu vaccines tend to show a decrease in efficacy, as low as 19% effective. Those are THEIR numbers that they hope you won’t look at. I suspect that the initial studies will look like 75% effective, with 25% placebo. I do not believe their numbers will hold up, however, just like flu vaccines numbers fail to stay high.

    1. Jimmy MacAfee - July 2, 2020

So my conclusion isn’t much different from yours; the vaccine will be a sham, regardless of placebos. People are getting better quicker or not suffering the same serious symptoms because the virus is mutating to a less lethal form.

That is common – viruses are smart, in the sense that they learn not to kill the host, and therefore they can infect more people. Numbers WILL go up, just as lethality WILL GO DOWN.

The economy should not be tormented any longer: open it all up, and close relations with China, because China intends to do this over and over until our economy dies. Open up the economy fully, and shut down trade with China.

Or just effing go to war, because that’s where China is heading anyway – just like 1930s Europe and Japan.

    2. brian - July 2, 2020

The ‘medical’ community is wrought with fraud. The vast majority of fraud in ‘science journals’ iis in the medical, experimental fields, like vaccines. Its an ongoing problem. there is little reason to trust anything coming out of the ‘vaccine soon’ crowds mouths which is the take I get from Mr. Blackmons article here… And he’s spot on, there is nothing to trust.

Its a war… the enemy tries to sew discord… stay on target.

      1. Jimmy MacAfee - July 2, 2020

        Agree completely.

What we’re experiencing is being called by some a “medical dictatorship.” And that’s how I would characterize it.

There is active resistance and passive resistance; we’ll need both in order to secure our nation from these villains. Passive resistance might include not getting cholesterol checked (triglycerides, OK.) or filling certain types of prescriptions for drugs the doctor insists you take (like statins?) or taking the flu shot, which causes more harm than good. Your body, your choice. And in choosing, using the word “choice,” you don’t have to choose whether or not a baby is going to live or die.

The war has so many fronts, it’s exhausting. And they often just pass the buck to Barr and others, when there is so much that can be done. Nike is a good example: sales are up slightly in China, but down drastically in the US and Europe. As they say:

        “Get woke, go broke.”

It takes time, effort and education to know which store to avoid, which product needs a different source, but it helps. I will no longer use ANY Pepsi product nor Frito Lay product (not that I should anyway, being diabetic.) No more senior coffee at McDonald’s. Lots of others, too.

We are now in an active Civil War. It is likely to end up bloody. But not everyone can fight, but everyone can resist the Democrapic tyrants and their agents in the press and everywhere else. Including in the doctor’s office.

The Connecticut GOP passed this resolution, and it is a smack down on the dems calling for a name change to their party

    Delicious!

    1. Gregg - July 2, 2020

Great, Silas and thank you for linking,

Happily shocked and surprised that the Republicans, any Republicans, especially in deep blue dominated Connecticut, had the guts to promote this. Where are the Republicans anywhere AND EVERYWHERE doing the same!?!??!

If the RNC Madame Chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel (Romney’s niece) wants to show me something, display some brave leadership AND get me to donate to the RNC, then get off your a$$ and FORCE the Democrats to acknowledge and accept their hideous history.

Where is Mitch McConnell on this with a senate resolution? Lament Alexander (RINO) TN?, Schiff McRomney (RINO UT)?

The only problem with resolutions is they are toothless and NEVER RESOLVE ANYTHING, but it is a nice start which needs to be encouraged.

The left wants to have a ‘race’ discussion, well ok, let’s have that discussion.
