Obamagate: Barr’s Firing of Berman Removes a Roadblock from Durham’s Path

Boom. – Attorney General William Barr made another move to clear the snakes out of his Justice Department yesterday, and the snake doesn’t want to ssssssslither away.

On Friday afternoon, Barr released a statement announcing that Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman, the weasel who led several of the cases dummied up by Robert Mueller, was “stepping down,” and nominated currently the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, to replace him:

Attorney General William P. Barr has released the following statement:

“I am pleased to announce that President Trump intends to nominate Jay Clayton, currently the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, to serve as the next United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.  For the past three years, Jay has been an extraordinarily successful SEC Chairman, overseeing efforts to modernize regulation of the capital markets, protect Main Street investors, enhance American competitiveness, and address challenges ranging from cybersecurity issues to the COVID-19 pandemic.  His management experience and expertise in financial regulation give him an ideal background to lead the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, and he will be a worthy successor to the many historic figures who have held that post.  On behalf of the President, I thank Jay for accepting this nomination, and I look forward to working with him soon.

On my recommendation, the President has appointed Craig Carpenito, currently the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, to serve as the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, while the Senate is considering Jay Clayton’s nomination.  This appointment will be effective July 3, and Craig will work closely with the outgoing United States Attorney to ensure a smooth transition.  I thank Craig for his continued service and for taking on this important interim responsibility.

Finally, I thank Geoffrey Berman, who is stepping down after two-and-a-half years of service as United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.  With tenacity and savvy, Geoff has done an excellent job leading one of our nation’s most significant U.S. Attorney’s Offices, achieving many successes on consequential civil and criminal matters.  I appreciate his service to the Department of Justice and our nation, and I wish him well in the future.”

[End]

A couple of hours later, Berman – an ally of the radical Lawfare crowd that is working to destroy the country via the court system – said he was refusing to step down, based on the fact that he was appointed by the judges of the SDNY U.S. district court:

So, now we see Lawfare using the courts to take away the power of the executive, a clear violation of the separation of powers that Barr and President Trump simply must not allow to stand.

The leftists in the Twitter perpetual outrage mob are all squealing that Barr’s move here amounts to a “Friday Night Massacre” and a cover-up of an array of Trump “crimes” that exist in the fantasy bubble they all inhabit. Because of course they are.

Much more likely is that Barr is removing yet another corrupt Democrat plant serving as a Deep State roadblock to the investigation being conducted by John Durham. The jettisoning of Berman comes on the heels of the forced resignations of head FBI lawyer Dana Boente and Justice Department solicitor general Noel Francisco, both Obama-era embeds who could not be trusted by Durham and Barr. Berman’s forced departure also comes after Barr has had several specially-appointed U.S. attorneys spending the last several months conducting a detailed review of his efforts on behalf of the Mueller team and its attempted coup d’etat on President Trump.

Berman obviously plans to fight his firing on behalf of this Lawfare allies.  Barr should accommodate him by starting the fight with U.S. Marshals showing up at his office door Monday morning and escorting him from the premises.

That is all.

Totally agree with your conclusion Dave.

Now if we could begin investigating law clerks, particularly law clerks who work for John Roberts? There is a snake there in the grass, and Roberts is apparently afraid of snakes.

Same could be said of the RINO Congresscritters, who also seem to be terrified of their staffs. Most staffs are Lefties or looneys. Go figure. Implants. Find their masters, and you find the control switch.

So he’ll end up just getting fired, then. Either way works for me.

    2. bodieisland - June 21, 2020

Wow, Jimmy! I had never thought of that angle. Now I understand how Nadler could have hired Lawfare “clerks” to ask questions and then turn around and become witnesses. TY for your insight, my friend.

This is all so disgraceful. President Trump has shown way more patience than I would have. All these people work at the pleasure of the president meaning he can fire any and all of them whenever he wants and for any or no reason.

I remember BJ Clinton fired all but two (GOP appointed) US attorneys (out of like fifty) when he came to power and no one said a word. Trump finally fires several corrupt IGs and some other officials, and even fossil Grassley gives him static.

I guess the ‘Plan F’ is: if were can’t drum Trump out of office, we’ll do everything we can to neuter him and his agenda. I suppose ‘Plan F’ has been happening in conjunction (collusion) with all the other removal attempts and “insurance policies” to render him and his administration impotent.

All the schiff this year: the Impeachment, the Plandemic (and the mail-in national voting fraud it will ensure), the partially successful attempt to crash a great economy, the riots and the attempts to shut down Trump’s rallies are all meant to get Joe Figurehead, the puppet, elected – we all know this. This is the left’s Waterloo: beat Trump now and end this draining of the swamp, and bring DC back to ‘normal’.

I’ll be expecting to see Dem campaign commercials (not trying to give them any ideas here) on behalf of Figurehead recalling the good old days of Obama and Biden, where there was peace and calm, where there were no (reported) ‘scandals’ and we all could return to their “new normal”.

I have no doubt that it will be conveyed that a Joe Figurehead victory will mean the end of ALL the riots and “mostly peaceful protests”. That is true, a Dem victory and ALL this crap will magically disappear on Nov 4, Fauci And the Scarf Queen will go back into their bunker at the CDC, and you won’t hear a peep on the inflated CV-19 “casualty” figures as of Jan 20, 2021.

Things will be ‘peaceful’ under Figurehead’s administration until the left decides it wants to “fundamentally change America” and create a new ‘crisis’ of which of course Trump, like Bush Jr., will be blamed. In order to “fix” this new crisis the Dems will take further measures to erode the rights of American citizens.

The following will occur within six months of a Democratic Administration:

All the hack governors and mayors will become part of and promoted to high positions in Joe Figurehead’s Administration

ICE will be disbanded via an EO

Open boarders, with unfettered illegal immigration will be the new normal and DACA will be made permanent

Trump and his allies will be gone after and ruthlessly persecuted (unlike what Sessions and Barr have done in 3 and a half years) with a vengeance within six months – no conservative or outsider will ever even attempt to run for the presidency.

If Figurehead wins, the House will stay Dem; the senate probably flips and even if it didn’t, I wouldn’t blame McConnell if he punted and let things really go to hell. What would be the point to even putting up the pretense of trying to stop the Dem agenda?

The GOP will effectively be rendered irrelevant if not actually criminalized

There will be massive tax increases passed to ‘pay’ for all the CV-19 “stimuli” spending

RBG will retire and Garland, or someone (Sullivan?, or that other corrupt DC judge who allowed the prejudiced jury foreman to convict the Trump associate) will be on the SC. Most Trump judges will be investigated. impeached – Kavanaugh et al – and removed if not jailed

Obamacare will be reinstated and put on steroids and the planned phase II will (single payer health care) become a reality

All the Trump deregulation and trade deals will be reversed

The social media platforms will censor all conservative speech – there will be no anti-trust action taken against them

Under a Holder type AG, all the Obamagate and Walking Eagle investigations will end and ALL of Trump’s appointees will be summarily fired on Jan 21, 2021. The nation’s police departments will effectively be nationalized (to become the American version of Hitler’s brown shirts)

    Education will likewise be nationalized

Sharia Law and Islamic teaching in the public schools will become even more prevalent

The military will become defunded and it will be reengaged in pointless never-ending open-ended foreign conflicts

Inflation and probably interest rates will explode. This will lead to our savings and assets becoming worthless and we all become dependent upon government

There will be a shooting civil war that will be ruthlessly crushed by the federal government

We Trump supporters will be targeted for elimination – the targeting will succeed and any pretense of our constitutional rights will be eliminated. The constitution itself will be eliminated

All the current useful idiots in Antifa and the MSM (D) will also be purged once they are no longer “useful” to the cause

Within the first term, we will become Venezuela

The UN will become the one world government under the “New World Order” that Bush Sr. spoke so glowingly about thirty years ago.

There will be nothing positive coming from the Democratic rule/dictatorship of a Joe Figurehead et al Administration

Sorry to be so negative, but this is what is at stake in this election.

the truth isn’t always sugar and rainbows. Truth shines a light into the darkness and reveals the ugly vile evil lurking below.

IMO, much of what you write will happen right away, eg immediate persecution of Trump and ‘allies’, immediate EO reversing everything Trump did, sudden disappearing of any and all criminal investigations, etc etc…

Other things will take a year possibly two before it gets into the mix, like targeting Christians and all conservative peoples, censoring ALL conservative speech, nationalizing the police force, Quietly eliminating the ‘useful idiots’ and violent criminals that were used as enforcers.

It will swing all of N America radically over to full on marxist communism by year 3. Say hello to Venezuela, they are part of the family now.

The only way to stall this push is to elect another Trump. Not a wannabe Trump, like Cruz, but another Trump, period. ANYONE who hasn’t shown any fear of the swamp, see Grenell as an example. should be given leadership positions. A good steam cleaning of the swamp is required and not a slow pruning like is currently happening.

Will Trump win… IMO, yes but only because Christians are praying for their nation. I think personally that its going to be VERY messy until well after the Nov date. These communists are goiing all in, thats a no brainer, we all see it.

its a war… and war is ugly but unfortunately necessary if evil is to be vanquished.

      btw… very good insights

    2. Rick Trickerson - June 20, 2020

Here’s the problem. People see how Sparky Obama, Crooked Hillary and James “Comedy” Comey have been getting away with murder. Antifa and BLM follow suit (no doubt encouraged by the Community Organizer). Now people who are under the President are acting the same way. Head’s need to fall so that we show that we’re serious about upholding justice. Then let the rats scurry to the corner.

    3. lonestarlizard - June 20, 2020

Clinton did not fire “all but two out of like 50”. Clinton fired all 93 US Attorneys in one day in 1993.

      1. Gregg - June 20, 2020

        Thank you Lonestarlizard,

I couldn’t remember the actual numbers, and I try to maintain creditability by not over embellishing; no one here needs to embellish anything the left does to make a point (the actual happenings speak for themselves), so if I’m not sure of an actual number, I always try to err on the side of caution so as to maintain my creditability,

        I appreciate the correction.

      2. jack johnson - June 21, 2020

You would think Berman being attorney would know that a president can remove a “judicially” appointed US Attorney. I think a 2nd year law student knows that precedent.

      3. Liberty Writer - June 21, 2020

Gregg & Lonestar… Thanks. Clinton’s firing of the attorney’s is 27 years old and has to be retold.

  3. Silas - June 20, 2020

This is the equivalent of an officer in the military being “asked” to step down and refusing to do so.
This “gentleman” might have been appointed by a judge, but the chain of command is outside the judge’s purview. If he thinks that Barr is going to back down and abdicate his authority, he’s got another think coming. It most certainly will provide the MSM and the lefty congress critters a talking point, but it will be fun watching them meltdown over it.

    1. Jimmy MacAfee - June 20, 2020

      Very nice, succinct point!

    2. TomPain - June 20, 2020

Agreed – this is a pretty binary issue and is a direct challenge to the authority of Barr and through him, to Trump. Trump should fire him immediately. If we won’t leave, have police escort him out. This is clear insubordination in a role that serves at the pleasure of the President.

If Trump does not respond appropriately, this will be a good indication that the deep state still holds the power.

  4. Finbar O'Shaunnessey - June 20, 2020

A Matt Dillon and a Wyatt Earp are here to see you, Mr. Berman.

    1. Jimmy MacAfee - June 20, 2020

Or is Berman “Sheriff Behan?” From the movies.

  5. brian - June 20, 2020

Odd that Clinton and Obummguy were given a pass for basically firing all previous admin appointments. But the ever so slow pruning Trump has done is a hair on fire nation Constitutional crisis Richter scale 9.2 events.

The depths of depravity and hypocrisy with these marxist communists knows no limits. ANY self restrain has long been cast aside in favour of unbridled hate.

    2 Thess 2:10 – 13
and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. …

    The only explanation….

    Its a war….

    1. Jimmy MacAfee - June 20, 2020

      Good Scripture, solid explanation.

  6. Silas - June 20, 2020

Soooo, now it;s being argued in certain circles that because Berman was in fact appointed by a judge he can only be replaced by a congressionally approved appointment. I didn’t write down all the legalese but basically blar blar.C says the executive can fire him without cause, but blar blar.D says if he’s appointed by a judge, he must be replaced by an appointee.

I guess we will soon see which blar blar prevails. 😀

  7. D3F1ANT - June 20, 2020

How can we pretend anything will come of this Durham/Barr fiasco as they stall and stall while America burns? It must be evident, by now, that the corruption in the FBI is the new normal. The mob has moved from destroying statues of Confederates to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and the police watch. The mob can beat and kill whomever they see fit and a man who shoots in self defence is arrested and charged! WTF is going on and where are our “leaders?” Where is Trump?

    1. brian - June 20, 2020

Its a frustration that a lot of people are expressing these day. I too have constantly criticized Barr and his lack of any real progression since assuming the helm at the DoJ. He even stated that the DoJ would be keeping a close eye on the whole antifa/blm fiasco in addition to all the other emergencies playing out. He gets on TV, makes a tough talk in soft tones assuring everyone justice will be done albeit slowly, and then… radio silence until the next required tough soft tone reminder to shut up.

As for Trump… imo he’s actually doing the right thing. The left are desperate to make Trump react and send in the troops to quell the ‘uprising’. They are begging this to happen so they can screech like banshees that hes a ‘dictator’ as evidenced by him sending in troops. These are Dem controlled states and cities and if they get burned to the ground it on the Dems, not Trump.

When the Demoncraps finally tap out and beg for assistance then Trump will act and it will still be on the demoncaps doorstep because they had to ask for help. It seriously points to Dem failures more than anything else. Yes good people will be hurt but thats on the Dems. Those people in those cities will have to defend themselves… arm up… prepare as if no help is on the way.

The demoncraps can’t sustain the narratives and energy they are expending and are getting increasingly more desperate every day. This only helps overall as the marginally blue voter is noticing the insanity and either will swing or not vote at all.

Its a war… sadly there will be casualties but to rush in may be a fools errand. Like to old adage of when the enemy is in the process of destroying himself… don’t interfere

  8. Silas - June 20, 2020

I have seen a lot of “where’s Trump?” today on the interwebs.

Our problem is, we are so used to getting things now, that we forget that sometimes the solution to a certain problem is not a quick fix situation.

One thing I do understand, the longer this cr@p goes on, the more anxious and worried folks are.
It’s going to to be a long, crazy ride and we best hold on and keep our powder dry.

  9. Liberty Writer - June 21, 2020

For people to live in a Democratic Republic someone must teach the principles of what makes a Democratic Republic work, + the positives of having a Democratic Republic.
Join a Tea Party group and get to work.
