Cirque du Trump: It’s the Greatest Show on Earth

Today’s Campaign Update (Because the Campaign Never Ends)

I swear I do not make this stuff up. Who could? – You could never make it up – never in a million billion gazillion years.

I kid you not: The President of the United States of by-God America was asked by some doofus reporter yesterday evening if he was planning to pardon…wait for it…oh, you have to wait for this one…JOE freakin’ EXOTIC!!! Yes, this guy:

What life is like for Joe Exotic in jail

You don’t have to believe me, you only have to believe your lyin’ eyes and ears:

Reporter: These ratings hits, aside from these briefings, there’s a show that’s called “Tiger King,” and the man who’s the star of this is a former zoo owner who is serving a 22-year prison sentence. He’s asking you for a pardon, saying he was unfairly convicted. Your son yesterday jokingly said he was going to advocate for it. I was wondering if you’d seen the show and if you have any thoughts on it, pardoning Joe Exotic.

Trump: Which son? [smiling] Must be Don.

Reporter: It was.

Trump: [smiling] I had a feeling it was Don. Is that what he said? I don’t know, I know nothing about it. 22 years for what? What did he do?

Reporter: He allegedly hired someone to murder an animal rights activist. He said he didn’t do that and he was, uh…

Trump: You think he didn’t do it? Are you on his side?

Reporter: Well, I…

Trump: Are you recommending a pardon?

Reporter: Ah, no, I’m not advocating anything like that…

Trump: As a reporter, you’re not allowed to do that. You’d be criticized by these…[points at Acosta] Would you recommend a pardon?

Acosta: Uh, I’m not weighing in on Tiger King…

Trump: I wouldn’t think you would, I don’t think you would. Go ahead, you have a question. [To first reporter] I’ll take a look.

Acosta: I do like Joe Exotic [well, of course he does]

Trump: [Reporter on front row holds up an image of Joe Exotic on his I-phone] Is that Joe Exotic? That’s Joe Exotic?

Acosta: Uh, let me get back to the coronavirus, Mr. President.

Trump: Yeah.

[End]

It’s the Greatest Show on Earth, folks. We are truly blessed to live in this day and time.

Meanwhile, in other, less entertaining news… – President Trump has a new White House Press Secretary, not that it really matters.

In case you missed it – and you can certainly be excused for doing so – Stephanie Grisham, who barely ever showed her face before the media during her brief time in the job, went back to serving as press spokesman for First Lady Melania Trump on Tuesday. Stepping into the job of White House Press Secretary will now be Kayleigh McEnany, a longtime communications expert who has most recently been serving in a similar role for the Trump 2020 re-election campaign.

Kayleigh McEnany - Wikipedia

As polished as Ms. McEnany is as a spokesperson, you will likely not be seeing too much of her in this role, much like Ms. Grisham. This is not a criticism of either woman, both of whom are perfectly capable of handling the pack of hyenas who make up the White House press corps.

President Trump, after watching Sarah Huckabee Sanders being abused and smeared by these clowns for a year and a half, decided early last year to simply become his own spokesman, and turn the White House Press Secretary’s job into more of a role of herding the media cats.

That has been a brilliant and highly productive move. Trump has, without any question at all, since become the most accessible president in the nation’s history since making that transition, often holding multiple press availabilities each day. He been so accessible during the course of defending the nation against China’s Wuhan Virus attack that he now has the petulant creeps on MSNBC and CNN whining every day that he has become too accessible. I kid you not: The coordinated talking point among the cable TV talking heads on Tuesday and Wednesday was that “the President has hijacked these Task Force press briefings.”

Think about that: This President is now literally being accused by corrupt media personalities of “hijacking” his own damn press conferences.

That’s how good he is at dealing with these shameless nitwits. He has them so discombobulated that they are utterly incapable of hitting back in any non-hysterical way.

It’s a beautiful thing to watch. As the President himself would say, ‘it’s the most beautiful thing we’ve ever seen. Many people are talking about it being such a great thing. No one’s ever seen anything like it.’ And he’d be right.

Enjoy it while you can, and work hard to make sure you get to continue enjoying it for four more years.

That is all.

Next time you post a clown picture, depicting these fools (Dem Pols or MSM (D)) it would be great to have a link to the calliope circus music.

Most of my favorite press conferences involved the military guys. The “press” was more respectful. I wish the President would – when confronted by a gotcha question – just move on to the next reporter and let someone with a real question have their turn. Pretend the fake question didn’t exist, and pretend the fake questioner didn’t exist.

When I was a kid, I never liked watching the bad kids get punished; I always wanted them to be sent to the Principal’s office, to be dealt with privately. Never was a fan of public humiliation. Some people love to watch public canings or whippings, but I’m not among them, not from the time I was a child.

    Mr. President, just say:

“We’ll deal with you later.” And let them figure out what you mean by that. And then let your press secretary deal with them administratively.

Jimmy, I can go both ways.

In the military, the general rule is praise in public, punish or reprimand in private. So in that regard I agree with you. But we are not in the military and these are not normal times.

Since every anti-Trump person (96% in the swamp) wants to PUBLICLY PUNISH AND TRY TO HUNILIATE Trump through open embarrassment or actual prosecution, I say expose, expose, expose anyone and everyone he can – whenever he can.

The Carl Rove strategy of ignoring these malignant (MSM (D) ignoramuses failed for both Bushes and every other GOP candidate, and it cost them dearly. I’ so glad Trump tweets and pushes back so strongly and effectively. It is a ray of sunshine. And I want open public trials against any and all swamp criminal and corrupt dwellers. I think most of us do.

Gregg, I’m not opposed to what has transpired, but President Trump should save the humiliation for the truly stupid, ignorant and offensive questions. “I don’t like your tone” is one of the times when he should consider dismissing the question. Not suggesting for a moment that Bushie’s methods should be considered.

What I’m saying is this: don’t waste ammo. Right now, he’s throwing stuff back on things that aren’t worth responding to. Save the ammo for the really idiotic questions.

Now when the China spy was there (!) asking him a question, President Trump was fully aware that she was in the employ of “she,” the CCP dictator. He was very cautious about his comments, because he knew she was from “she.” President Trump held back his ire, at a time when the lying, spying reporter should have been dressed down and humiliated. But President Trump knows the game, and responded to her question with questions. He respectfully and tactfully exposed her and her origins, and for anyone with eyes and ears, he did this as a surgeon opens up a patient.

After listening the clip, Can you imaging Bush Jr, ‘The One’ sans teleprompter, Walking Eagle, or Gaff O. Joe up on the podium instead of President Trump?

How about a Bob Dole? Algore? Lurch? Ace McLame? Mutt McRomney? The Commie? Jeb Bush the III? Pocahontas? etc.

BJ Clinton might have been able to pull it off for a while, but not for hours day after day week after week.

He actually seems to enjoy the challenge, comes across as real. And he is totally comfortable in his own skin, and totally connects with the lucid ordinary citizens.

Obimbo the Haman only took “helpful” questions from sycophants, never from hostile reporters. He rigged the presser even before it began, requiring at times that questions be submitted in advance, then choosing only those “reporters” who had submitted butt-kissing queries. (Obumbler the Lesser did love them smooches on the derriere!)

    2. Jimmy MacAfee - April 9, 2020

President Barack Haman al Qaeda had such thin skin – thinnest skin of any President in history – you’d think he had overdosed on coumadin! You could cut him with a fingernail.

McEnany is exceptional; I hope Trump gives her some opportunities once this crisis is over.

Yesterday’s press conference was somewhat better than usual–the Tiger King question was bizarre, but it was a light moment. And Acosta actually behaved himself and asked a reasonable question.

BTW, sundance has posted evidence of Fauci giving the thumbs-up to Acosta at the end, just like Karl the other day. He always waits to be the last to leave the podium, then makes little gestures to his media friends. I think he needs to go. And as the actual numbers keep falling far below the projections, I think he will.

The Dems want a bail-out package for their allies in the media–the gall of these people is never-ending. And Pope Red Francis would like you to know that the coronavirus is God’s punishment for climate change, so there’s that.

    1. Rick - April 9, 2020

Great observation, Phineas. I sure hope someone has shown President Trump that clip and that he takes the “esteemed” Dr. Fauci out back to the woodshed for a well deserved beating.

The next great media concern will be how the virus impacts Ramadan. Passover and Easter will be accorded rather different treatment.

  7. phineas gage - April 9, 2020

Can anyone explain the fact that large Chinese cities such as Beijing and Shanghai are virtually unaffected, while cities thousands of miles away in other countries and their economies are being ravaged by this disease? Something is very wrong with that picture.

  8. brian - April 9, 2020

Found a clip of the media trying to bully Trump with The President responding in a somewhat measured response.

Nearly every so called reporter when they ask the President a question it is nearly always a gotsha question and Trump is ready for the lyin snakes they don’t fool Mr.Trump.I think he has really gotten their number. The fake news have made a total fool out of themselves, wonder what the old time reporters would think about these fake news guys or would they back them up?All reporters are out to get any republican all they are is the propaganda arm of the dem/communist party. We should start calling them Pravda.Go Trump Go.

“Shameless Nitwits”, I love it! Perfect description of the alleged reporters.
