The Friday the 13th Campaign Update
(Because The Campaign Never Ends)
Just getting some things off my chest on a beautiful Friday afternoon in Texas…
Inflation – Has anyone besides me bought balloons at the local Party City outlet that are much larger than this “giant” Trump Baby balloon that CNN’s been talking about all week? Seriously, I could fit that thing in the back of my SUV, fully inflated.
Priorities – Does it bother anyone else that Rod Rosenstein wants to dedicate about 10 times as many DOJ and FBI personnel to investigating President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee than he was willing to dedicate to investigating last October’s massacre in Las Vegas?
Hacks (in more ways than one) – So, these 12 “Russian intelligence officers” indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his band of circus clowns “hacked the DNC server”? Would that be the same “DNC server” that the DNC refused to allow the FBI to take a look at? That “DNC server”?
Coordination – Mark Warner’s on TV as I type this demaning that President Trump cancel next week’s summit with Vladimir Putin due to Mueller’s action today. Timing is everything with these un-American creeps.
Backfires – Mueller’s action today is a blatantly obvious repetition of the ham sandwich indictments he tossed out at 13 Russian defendants a few months ago: Just thrown out there with no evidence presented, focused on defendants that almost certainly will never be brought to trial, and timed to do maximum damage to relations between the U.S. and Russia. Dumping these things out on the Friday before the summit between Trump and Putin is a despicable disgrace.
Justification – Regardless of the suspect nature of the indictments and the obvious timing issues, I just keep coming back to wondering why do we need a Special Counsel for any of this? We are now well more than a year into this fake investigation and the public has still been given no legitimate justification for the appointment of this Special Counsel to begin with. What was the underlying crime that originated such an investigation? There is no crime of “collusion” in the federal statutes, and to this date, the special counsel has failed to charge a single U.S. citizen related to any ostensible crime in any way related to such “collusion.”
Stonewall – Even worse, Rosenstein himself has personally stonewalled multiple congressional committees exercising legitimate oversight responsibilities, steadfastly refusing to produce the memos he personally authored appointing the special counsel and then later expanding his mandate. This lack of transparency is simply unacceptable in a free society.
America and Americans deserve better than this. A pox on all their houses.
That is all.
