Trump’s Deal With Pelosi/Schumer Is A Huge Win For The GOP

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Just two and a half months ago, on June 20, Republican Karen Handel defeated Democrat Pajama Boy, er, Jon Ossoff, in the Georgia congressional District 6 special election.  This was to fill the seat left vacant by Trump Appointee and new Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.  The fake news media naturally characterized the win by a Republican candidate in a marginally Republican district as an “upset”, based mainly on wishful thinking, thinking that was based on the fake polls their own media outlets paid to create.
  • Georgia District 6 was the fourth such special election held around the country to fill seats left vacant by Trump appointees, and all of the races were won by Republicans.  The narratives in the fake media coverage leading up to every one of those races said that they were not races to fill congressional seats, but rather referenda on Donald Trump, whom the media has portrayed as being historically unpopular, based mainly on…wait for it….you guessed it, based mainly on the fake polls their own media outlets paid to create.  See how this works?  The false narratives practically write themselves.
  • The fake media did wake to an actual truth in the days that followed their Georgia District 6 fiasco, and that is the reality that, in all of those special elections, the GOP candidates ran less against their actual opponents than they did against the ugly, deranged face of the national Democrat Party’s leadership.  More specifically, they ran against San Fran Nan Pelosi, the Democrats’ doddering House Minority Leader.
  • This bitter June 21 piece in New York Magazine is a fine example:  “The clear and consistent focus of the GOP message in GA-06 was to remind the district’s dominant Republicans that Jon Ossoff is a Democrat, and to convince them his mild, centrist persona disguised a monstrous radical leftist who is “not one of us”…again and again Ossoff was depicted as a puppet of Nancy Pelosi and her godless San Francisco hippie allies.”
  • The next couple of weeks were very difficult for Ms. Pelosi, who is barely able these days to put two sentences together in a coherent fashion, as pundits from all locations on the political spectrum came to the sudden realization that her political party really has little chance of regaining power in either house of congress so long as she is available for GOP candidates to run against.  Tim Ryun, a no-account congressman from one of those rust belt states, started making waves about mounting a formal effort to force a vote among the Democrat caucus to replace her, as he has tried in the past.
  • Republicans everywhere held their breath at the prospect that San Fran Nan might actually be replaced by Ryan.  Ryan is every bit the leftist, anti-American lunatic that Pelosi is, but he has a face that looks like a combination of powdered milk and Lumpy Rutherford, and a keen grasp of the English language, so he’d be a lot more difficult to demonize on the campaign trail.
  • But Pelosi persevered, at least for now, staving off her challengers and critics by reminding them that she is a…wait for it…”master legislator” in an interview with one of those Democrat-friendly Sunday Morning show host, which of course means it could have been any of them.  Anyway, that claim is a laughable lie, but if Pelosi knows one thing, it is that Democrats love, love, love being lied to, which of course is why she rose to power in the first place.  So things calmed down for her, but she was far from out of the woods, and many observers have remained concerned there could be more moves to oust her as next year’s mid-term elections approach.
  • So, by now you’re wondering why I am writing about all of this today, and if I actually have a point to make, right?  Right.
  • Well, yes, there is a point.  It’s one I meant to raise in yesterday’s piece about the budget/debt ceiling/emergency relief deal President Trump made with Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, but the drugs I’m taking trying to get over the flu have left me so drowsy I forgot to do so.  And it’s a point pretty much everyone seems to be missing in all of this, especially Republicans, most of whom spent all day Thursday whining about the President making a deal with the devil.
  • The point here is that, by making this deal with Pelosi and Schumer, President  Trump gave them a success story to brag about, propped them up as their Party’s de facto leaders, and thus basically ensured that San Fran Nan and Cryin’ Chuckie Schumer will remain the ugly, deranged face of the Democrat Party through the 2018 midterm elections.  In other words, the best possible outcome for the GOP.
  • When you see people like me talk about Trump playing 4D Chess while everyone else is playing checkers, this is exactly what we mean.

Just another day in Donald Trump’s America.

That is all.

President Trump Denies Ryan And McConnell Their Precious Kabuki Dance

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • So, President Trump did a snap-decision deal with San Fran Nan and Cryin’ Chuckie Schumer on the debt ceiling, the budget and a supplemental appropriation for FEMA on Wednesday, and Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are reportedly mad as hell about it.  There is only one word for this, and that is…
  • GOOD.
  • Think about it:  You are the duly-elected President of the United States, a President who was elected to accomplish a very clear, specific set of goals on which you campaigned more tirelessly than any recent presidential candidate for 18 long months.  Included in those goals are several major legislative items on which you know that pretty much every member of your own party’s congressional membership campaigned in favor of during the 2016 campaign, and it was on those issues that they all won their own elections.
  • Given that reality, and given that your own political party won majorities in both houses of congress, your expectation coming into your presidency was that you would be able to get a lot of good things done working hand in glove with your own party’s congressional leaders.  Cool, right?
  • But you have now had eight months in office, and during that time, you have watched as your agenda – and what you had reasonably thought was also your party’s own agenda in congress – has been undermined time after time after time, not by the minority Democrats, but by the leaders in your own party.
  • At first you thought the speaker and the majority leader were just incompetent boobs.  How else to explain their consistent failures to coalesce their own memberships together to vote in favor of key legislation on which so many of them had themselves campaigned?  How else to explain the speaker’s and majority leader’s refusal to arm-twist recalcitrant members by threatening to take away their committee chairmanships, a tactic that the leaders of the minority party had never been shy about using?  How else to explain the inexcusable decision by the speaker and the majority leader to take the full month of August off after having achieved pretty much nothing of significance from January through July?
  • But then, probably sometime during August, it hits you:  They’re not incompetent, they’re completely disloyal.  They aren’t failing to get anything done because they’re idiots, they’re failing to get anything done because they don’t want to get anything done.
  • They, and most of their “establishment” caucus members, have no intention of keeping their campaign promises to repeal Obamacare, to enact major tax reform, to do a major infrastructure bill, to beef up funding for border security, or anything else.  Those were empty promises made to voters they don’t respect, in the anticipation that your opponent would win the presidential contest.  They actually looked forward to that outcome, because they consider it the best of all worlds:  A win by your opponent would have enabled them to continue taking empty votes on major issues they really aren’t in favor of, and send their empty bills to an opposition POTUS, knowing they would be vetoed.
  • This is the Kabuki Dance that Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell love.  It is their true core competency.
  • And this is why Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are so angry today:  Because the President’s deal with the Democrats denies them the opportunity to engage in their favored Kabuki Dance rituals over the debt ceiling and the budget.  You know what I’m talking about – the Dance in which Ryan and McConnell get tons of TV face time, pretending to give a damn about the nation’s mounting debt problems, inevitably taking the nation to the precipice of a government shutdown, only to give in at the last minute when they extract a few billion dollars of meaningless spending cuts from the Democrats, cuts that will quietly be restored at a later date.
  • They had their Kabuki steps all set, their choreography carefully coordinated, and they assumed they’d easily be able to sucker this President to just accede to their wishes and let them have their precious stage time when they went into Wednesday’s meeting in the Oval Office.  After all, they consider this President to be a dope, just as he spent seven months assuming they were just incompetent boobs.
  • Mitch McConnells’ ashen-faced press conference following Wednesday’s deal tells us everything we need to know:  He realizes now that he has mis-judged Donald Trump, and that his bluff has been called.  The days of the Kabuki Dance going un-remarked upon by a willing fellow dancer in the White House are gone.
  • Donald Trump is not a dancer, he’s a doer.  Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan discovered on Wednesday that they can either decide to become doers as well, or become leaders of a minority party in congress after the 2018 elections.  They can either start working honestly with the President or be relegated to the sidelines in crucial negotiations, because this President is not going to allow himself to be held hostage to partisan Kabuki Dances.  The choice is entirely up to them.

Just another day in the political equation in Washington just shifted America.

Dear DREAMers: Shooting The Finger At America Is Really Bad Strategy

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • You know, it would be easier to have more sympathy for these DACA recipients if we didn’t keep seeing photos and videos of them shooting the finger while holding up profanity-laced, anti-American signs all over social media.  They sort of go against the Democrat/fake news media narrative that these are all just wonderful, smart, patriotic “children” who want to stay in the only country they’ve ever known.
  • In reality, most of them aren’t “children” at all.  Per U.S. government data from 2014, more than half of DACA applicants that year were over the age of 20.  While no one appears to be able to discover the average age of all 800,000 DACA qualifiers in the country – the government obviously wants to keep that a secret since it agitates against the Democrat/fake news media narrative – the best estimates are that it is somewhere around 25-26 years old.  Go figure.
  • Indeed, even the Democrats/media get their narrative confused on the issue constantly, as they alternately pretend that these are just poor, helpless children, or are doctors, scientists and member of the U.S. military.  “Children” do not hold such jobs.
  • Newsweek reports that a recent Center for American Progress study conducted among 3,000 DACA recipients found that fully 9/10ths of the respondents said they are employed, and that their average wage is $17.46 per hour.  Again, “children” do not sport such statistics.
  • Then there is the myth that applicants for DACA benefits have to file their applications before they reach the age of 16.  I saw at least 3 different leftists spout this myth on cable TV on Tuesday.  The fact is that, while DACA applicants must have been brought to the U.S. by their illegal alien parents before they reached the age of 16 in order to qualify, they have until the not-so-childlike age of 31 to get their applications in.
  • Here’s the truth about DACA:  It is an unconstitutional mess created by Barack Obama in an effort to placate the immigration activist segment of the Democrat voter base during the 2012 campaign against Mitt Romney.  It was a cynical move by Obama, who publicly acknowledged on dozens of occasions the did not have the power to change immigration law via executive order.  But knowing the he didn’t have to worry about any critical coverage by the fake news media, he did it anyway, allowing these 800,000 illegal immigrants to cling to a “legal” status that has no real basis in the law.  This is what Democrats refer to as “compassion.”
  • Faced with having to try to defend this unconstitutional atrocity in federal court, Attorney General Jeff Sessions correctly advised President Trump to rescind the clearly illegal order, and put the ball in congress’s court, where it has always belonged.  Surely, fake Republicans like John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Jeff Flake can come to some sort of consensus deal with enough senate Democrats to get a fix done in the  next six months, right?
  • Well, don’t just jump to that conclusion.  It is not at all clear that the Democrat Party really wants to make this change to immigration law in a way that would withstand constitutional scrutiny.  After all, the Democrats had near-super majority status in both houses of congress in 2009-10, and Barack Obama in the White House, and did not lift a finger or spend a moment of time trying to address what they now tearfully claim is an issue of compassion and decency.
  • Instead, the Democrats focused all of their efforts on nationalizing 1/6th of the U.S. economy through Obamacare, in hopes that the Saul Alinsky principle that if you control people’s healthcare, you control their votes would hold true.  That sure has worked out well for them, given that their party lost more than 1,110 seats in congress and state legislatures from 2010 through 2016.
  • On Tuesday, President Trump did what any real president should do:  he rescinded a clearly illegal order by his predecessor and told congress to do its damn job.  While we all know what a crap shoot that is, it is the way this stuff is supposed to work.  When they aren’t shooting the finger at some random camera, the DREAMers make for a sympathetic interest group, but they are not above the law.

Just another day in fake news media America.

When Will Soros-Funded Activists Invade Houston? Soon.

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Here is what is fixing to start happening in Houston, probably within the next few days:  You’re going to see a lot of Antifa, Black Lives Matter and other Soros-funded activists come in from other parts of the country and begin to infiltrate the community, particularly in minority-heavy neighborhoods.  Their purpose will be to make it appear that the federal and state response to the Hurricane Harvey disaster is racist and ineffective.  We can imagine that these activist groups and their benefactors in the national Democrat Party have had enough of seeing uplifting video from Texas of grateful people praising local, state and federal officials, and thanking everyone who has been helping them.
  • So, in the coming days, you are going to start seeing video on CNN and the networks of mainly younger people loudly complaining that the people in other (presumably white) neighborhoods are getting their help, but nobody’s doing anything for them.  You will start seeing films of such people loudly interrupting public officials who are trying to hold meetings in minority communities around Houston, shouting them down, even threatening them with violence.  You will probably begin seeing groups of mainly younger people staging protests in front of Houston City Hall, with signs accusing President Trump, Governor Abbott and FEMA officials of being racists and trying to commit genocide in the Bayou City.
  • All of these people will claim to be residents of Houston, and no one at CNN, ABC, CBS or NBC will question that, or take film of the caravan of white buses that will likely transport them into the city, if that hasn’t already happened.  Because you can bet your bottom dollar that the folks at CNN and the networks are sick to death of all the public spiritedness we have seen from Houstonians over the last 10 days.  This not good for ratings, or for clickbait to their various websites.
  • Sound cynical?  Sure.  But look, this is the playbook that we have seen over and over and over again over the last dozen years.  These agitators and the fake news media cannot allow what we have seen thus far from Houston and surrounding areas impacted by Harvey to stand.  People of all colors and creeds reaching out, putting themselves in danger to help one another?  That is not the America we see portrayed on CNN 24 hours every day.  If that is the real America, then there is no other conclusion to reach than that CNN is indeed “fake news.”
  • A Republican Governor in a Red State that voted for Donald Trump last November becoming a national star with his even-handed guidance of his state’s recovery efforts?  Does not fit the media/Democrat narrative of incompetent Republican governance.  President Trump and his FEMA Director leading an incredibly well-organized and efficient federal response, and helping the people of Texas in every way possible? Does not fit the narrative that Trump is a racist/lunatic/monster.
  • So the facts and images on the ground have to change in order to fit the media/Democrat narrative, and these George Soros-funded professional agitators are just the people to change them, working in conjunction with the fake news media.  We must remember that these are the same people who have infiltrated Republican congressional townhall meetings all over the country throughout 2016 and 2017, shouting down the elected officials and not allowing them to get their message out.  Why would anyone think they would hesitate to do the same in public gatherings all over Houston in the days and weeks to come?
  • This is standard operating procedure for those on the radical left and in the fake news media.  Frankly, the wonder is we haven’t already seen it happening.

Just another day in Why Isn’t The Justice Department Investigating George Soros? America.

Media’s “Trump Is A Monster” Narrative Dies In Houston

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • We should expect the fake journalists, fake anchors and fake editors at CNN, the NYTimes, the WaPo and the broadcast networks to shift their coverage away from Hurricane Harvey starting today.  The images and films from President Trump’s and First Lady Melania Trump’s visit to Houston on Saturday are simply too compelling and devastating to the media/Democrat concocted “Trump is a monster” narrative for them to continue airing them.  Thus, we can anticipate lots and lots of focus on things like DACA, the debt ceiling and the federal budget this week, even though disaster coverage is without question more lucrative and better for ratings at CNN.  Because this is what the fake news media does in its never-ending role as sad toadies for the Democrat Party.
  • If you want a great example of how the President’s humanizing visit to Houston and Louisiana is destroying the left’s world view, take a look as this piece, which discusses the shock an MSNBC reporter has felt as he’s been assaulted by the angry left  for tweeting a message acknowledging the reality of the President’s visit, and how Houstonians of all ages, colors and genders reacted to him.  Very educational about the true agenda of those on the angry left.
  • Here’s the reality that the fake news media has run smack-dab into over the last week, while covering the recovery efforts in Texas:  Most Americans are just really good, normal people.  They care about one another, they help one another, the rednecks and Cajuns in their fishing boats don’t pick and choose to rescue the people who look just like them first, leaving those with different-colored skin to wait in line.  They rush into harm’s way and start getting people out indiscriminately, take them to safety, and rush back in to do it all over again.
  • For the media people who live in their safe little bubbles in New York, Washington and Los Angeles, this is utterly shocking.  Because their own reporting has constantly informed them that everyone out there in “flyover country”, i.e., the other 98% of America, is a hateful racist, bigots who only want to harm people who aren’t just like they are.
  • I spent most of last week in Las Vegas, at a hotel that did not carry Fox News, and was thus forced to watch the coverage on CNN and, to a much lesser extent, MSNBC.  This turned out to be a very gratifying experience, as reporter after reporter found him- or herself utterly frustrated whenever they would ask any Texan a leading question designed to promote conflict, which is all they ever try to do.  Watching these elitist simpletons try to recover from their shock as Texan after Texan invariably responded with only caring and gratitude towards everyone who was working to help, and to the local, state and federal officials who were organizing shelter and recovery efforts, was a true heart-warming experience for me.
  • These fake news outlets, who have been coordinating with the Democrat Party for the last 10 months to try to create the “next Watergate” out of whole cloth, all went into their coverage of the Harvey catastrophe anticipating being able to create the “next Katrina”.  Now, they’re all down in the mouth be cause a) Houston isn’t New Orleans, b) Texas isn’t Louisiana and has a vastly more competent government, and c) it isn’t 2005 anymore, and FEMA and the rest of the federal government has learned a lot about how to respond to such events over the last dozen years.
  • But for all these left-wingers in the fake news media and the Democrats whose talking points they parrot each and every day, the worst learning out of all of this is that their efforts to portray the current POTUS as a deranged monster cannot survive when they run up against real video of him being himself among a group of struggling, displaced Americans of all colors, sizes, shapes, ages and creeds.
  • Donald Trump isn’t a monster at all.  He’s a real President, and a real American.  And that is a truth the fake news media simply cannot focus on for any length of time.  Thus, ratings and website hits be damned, these fake news sites will now move onto other topics that fit better with their narrative, because that is who they are, and what they do.

Just another day in fake news media America.

That is all.

The NFL Needs to Re-Focus on Football Before It’s Too Late

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • In an appearance on News One’s Roland Martin program earlier in the week, Houston Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee – who once told an interviewer that American astronauts had planted our flag on Mars – declared that the City of Houston is 50 feet below sea level.  This came as real news to every one who has ever lived in Houston, given that the city, while it does sit on low-lying coastal prairie land, is still well above sea level.  Democrats – if they didn’t exist, we’d have to make them up.  But I swear I don’t make this stuff up.
  • The National Football League, whose ratings were down significantly last year, is about to start bleeding an even larger part of its audience thanks to left wing political demonstrations by its players, and left wing political statements by the commentators who cover its games.  With the career mediocrity Collin Kaepernick no longer in the league to stage his National Anthem weekly sit-downs, more than a dozen players for the worst franchise in professional sports – the Cleveland Browns – have taken up the charge.
  • As was the case with Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers management, management for the Browns has collectively chosen to do nothing as the players make asses of themselves and their franchise on national television.  Because of this, on Friday Cleveland’s first responders announced that they will refuse to provide a representative group to hold Old Glory during a planned pre-game celebration this weekend.
  • This is becoming a growing problem for the NFL, as players from several other teams have chosen in recent weeks to turn this stage for a team game into a stage for them to exercise personal political grievances.  Making matters even worse for the league, management at ESPN and the other networks that televise the sport have given their announcers and analysts free rein to weigh in with their own political opinions on all manner of subjects during the game telecasts.  There is no question that this bringing of leftist political expression into the game in such a high-profile, bordering on pervasive manner has already impacted the NFL’s audience in a highly negative way, and will continue to do so if the league does not force teams to begin penalizing players who choose to use this team event as their own personal political platform.
  • If league leaders want to know what their league’s ultimate fate will be if they  fail to act to stop this mess, they only need to look to the film industry for their example.  Hollywood has just experienced its worst summer box office season in modern times, mainly because half of America’s citizens have grown weary of paying absurd admission and concessions prices to support an industry whose “stars” insult them at every given public opportunity.  It is as if these dim-witted actors and actresses simply don’t understand that these very people are the ones who have made them so fabulously wealthy and famous.
  • By the same token, refusing to stand for the national anthem and honor the flag is an insult to the people and the country that has given these football players their own opportunity to become fabulously wealthy and famous.  Millions of Americans have already responded by tuning NFL games out.  If the league fails to end this nonsense, and fails to instruct the announcers to focus on football instead of politics, many millions more will make the same decision in the years to come.
  • There has been much speculation in recent years that the NFL’s ongoing concussion issue will ultimately mean the end of the game of football as we have known it.  If the NFL doesn’t put an end to this ongoing effort by its players and broadcasters to fill its games with leftist politics, there soon won’t be anyone left who gives a damn.

Just another day Sheila Jackson Lee’s America, where Houston is below sea level, and we’ve already landed men on Mars.

James Comey: All Phony, All The Time

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Hey, remember waaaayyyyyy back in July of 2016, when bi-polar former FBI Director James “Leaky” Comey feigned seriousness in his nationally televised statement about his decision not to refer Hillary Clinton for criminal prosecution over her rampant disclosure of national secrets on an illegal email server?  Remember how he got a little choked up with emotion a couple times there, almost looking like he was on the verge of tears?  Remember how he claimed his decision was an excruciating one, a decision based on long months of arduous investigation by himself and dozens of his FBI agents?  Good times…good times….
  • Yeah, that was all fake.  Turns out, he made that decision months before – in April, in fact, and that everything that took place related to the investigation after that was just for show.  This was all quietly revealed on Thursday with the release of transcripts from a closed Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that took place earlier this year.  In the grand pantheon of sleazy American public servants, it is hard to think of anyone more sleazy than James Comey has turned out to be.  But hey, that’s how a career bureaucrat gets himself a multi-million dollar book deal and becomes a hero to those on the political left.
  • And speaking of FBI sleaze…:  Don’t think the systemic corruption at the FBI has ended just because Comey and Barack Obama and Loretta Lynch are no longer in charge.  Earlier this week, the FBI formally announced that it was withholding a mass of documents related to the fake investigation of the Clinton email scandal “due to lack of public interest” in the matter.  Even J. Edgar Hoover, as hopelessly corrupt as he was, rolled over in his grave at that bit of shameless sophistry.
  • But all is not lost:  On Thursday, Federal Judge James Boasberg ordered the agency to immediately release all previously unreleased documents related to the investigation.  While that’s wonderful, the thing that really needs to happen here is for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to get his butt over to the FBI building and fire a bunch of people.
  • Twitter progressives before yesterday:  “Trump is rich!!!! Why won’t he donate his own money to the hurricane relief funds!!!!!!!”  Twitter progressives this morning, after Trump gave $1 million:  “Trump doesn’t care !!!  He’s just doing it for the attention!!!!”
  • Truth about 99.9% of those Twitter progressives:  they haven’t given one thin dime of their own money to any of the relief funds.  If it weren’t for rank hypocrisy, these people would have no discernible personality traits other than undying rage.
  • Barack and Michelle Obama, who already have a home in the outskirts of Washington, DC valued at about $9 million, are now looking to purchase a vacant lot in Martha’s Vineyard valued at $15 million.  This is a couple who have never in their lives earned a combined salary in excess of $400,000 per year.  Politics is obviously great work if you can get it.
  • These are not reasonable people you’re talking to, Senator.:  California’s geriatric Sen. Dianne Feinstein is in big, big trouble with her party’s never-ending rage voter base, after she advised a gathering of her constituents to “be patient” with President Trump at a townhall meeting earlier this week.  Big mistake, saying something like that to a group of people whose only reason for getting up out of bed each morning is so they can project their rage on anyone they happen to run into, either in person or on social media.  So now they’re projecting some of that never-ending rage on the senior Senator from California.  Cool.
  • They need to learn that bigotry is now cool among those on the political left.:  The UK Sun reports that L’Oreal has now fired its first trans-gender model after he…oops…’Ze’ went on a Facebook rant accusing all white people of being inherently racist.  Apparently, the management at L’Oreal needs to undergo a joint sensitivity training session at which they learn that this model was simply parroting the talking points of the Democratic National Committee.

Post-Harvey: Will Texas Repeat Louisiana’s 2005 Money Grab?

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Now that Hurricane Harvey has finally passed, leaving behind in Houston and East Texas a level of devastation unprecedented in U.S. history, the political games around securing taxpayer money at the local, state and national levels to help pay for the rebuilding effort will begin.  Given that Harvey wrought destruction from Corpus Christi all the way up the coast through the Beaumont/Port Arthur/Orange Golden Triangle and into the Piney Woods communities of East Texas, we are talking about an area that is home to at least 8 million Texans.  Contrast this to Katrina, which, as terrible as it was, impacted New Orleans and surrounding areas that were home to just over 1 million Louisianans.
  • Normally in such situations, the most heated politics revolve around federal funds.  The federal government does have a disaster relief budget in its normal funding, but it will only be able to scratch the surface of a recovery and rebuilding effort that will be required for the nation’s 4th largest city and surrounding areas.  So, it will be up to the Texas congressional delegation to develop a proposal for a supplemental funding bill to shepherd through congress.  As we have seen in the past, such supplemental appropriations bills can become controversial, and vehicles for all members of congress to try to attach their own pet pork-barrel spending proposals.
  • In the wake of Katrina in 2005, the Louisiana congressional delegation, led by then-Senators Mary Landrieu andDavid Vitter, swung for the fences, bringing forward an initial proposal for a massive $250 billion appropriation that included funding for things like $35 million in marketing funds for the state’s seafood industry, $8 million for alligator farms and a $40 billion request for the Army Corps of Engineers, which normally spends about $400 million in the state.  This breathtaking money grab came after the George W. Bush Administration had worked with congressional leaders to push through $62 billion in Katrina-related recovery funding.
  • Twelve years later, now comes Hurricane Harvey, and a trail of devastation that is many times the size of the impact of Katrina.  Partisan politics in the nation’s capital were already polarized in 2005, but the situation today makes the politics of a dozen years ago seem like patty-cake by comparison.  A Texas delegation dominated by Republican members will have their work cut out for them in securing a supplemental appropriation that is sizable enough to truly help, and will need its Democrat members to work to secure vote from their own party, as many, many budget hawks in the GOP caucus will refuse to support any proposed legislation.
  • The Texas delegation will also need to strongly oppose efforts to turn a supplemental bill into a pork-barrel vehicle, as the national news media will be looking for any excuse to demonize members who represent a state that voted heavily for President Donald Trump.  Things could get especially uncomfortable for Senator Ted Cruz if he decides to become a sponsor for a supplemental, as he strongly opposed the supplemental bill for relief efforts for the Northeastern U.S. in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
  • But as is the case related to any disaster such as Harvey, opportunities present themselves as well.  For example, the Texas delegation will have an opportunity to ally itself with the Louisiana delegation related to a supplemental, given that Harvey also caused widespread damage to the Eastern half of the Pelican State.  Care will have to be taken not to revive some of the hair-brained pork barrel stuff that made its way into the Landrieu/Vitter Katrina bill in 2005, but the alliance of the two state delegations would help to build a strong base of support in congress.
  • For the Trump Administration, the opportunity relates to the President’s campaign promise of a national infrastructure spending bill.  The President has often spoken of his desire for a bill in excess of $1 trillion over ten years to help rebuild the country’s decaying system of roads, bridges and other key infrastructure.  The scale of the devastation in Texas and Louisiana from Harvey could serve as an anchoring point to the building out of a comprehensive national proposal.
  • Never have so many major “shovel-ready” infrastructure projects presented themselves in any region of this country at any single time as we are about to see manifesting themselves in Texas and Louisiana in the weeks to come.  It’s still a little too soon for the politicians to begin talking about all of this now, but as the flood-waters recede and the true scope and scale of the devastation becomes visible to television cameras, the political gamesmanship will and should begin in earnest.

Just another day in everything is politics America.

Why Is The NYTimes Talking About Melania Trump’s Shoe Choices?

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • The fake journalists at the NYTimes, always on the cutting edge of news that no one living more than 2 miles from Central Park cares about, carried a feature piece in its fake coverage of Hurricane Harvey  focused on….wait for it…wait for it…the shoes worn by First Lady Melania Trump!  I swear I don’t make this stuff up.
  • The piece, titled “Melania Trump, Off to Texas, Finds Herself on Thin Heels,” was written by some smarmy elitist named Vanessa Friedman, and carried in the fake newspaper’s Fashion and Style section.  The big news the Times found relevant to someone somewhere was that the First Lady wore her traditional spike heels when exiting the White House to board Marine One, but was wearing sneakers by the time she arrived in Corpus Christi, Texas with President Trump in a show of support for the people of Texas.
  • In justifying spending 700 words or so on this insignificant subject, the author pretends to simply be reflecting a major social media controversy. She proves said controversy exists by citing a single tweet from the terminally insipid Chelsea Handler, along with a tweet from some anonymous Twitter user.  Yes, because we all should really, really, really care what Chelsea Handler thinks of the First Lady’s shoe attire.
  • In response to the Times, Stephanie Grisham, the spokesman for the First Lady, said “It’s sad that we have an active and ongoing natural disaster in Texas, and people are worried about her shoes.”  Yes, exactly.  But this is the NYTimes, and creating fake controversies is apparently the only reason it exists anymore.
  • And can we be really honest about why Chelsea Handler feels the need to take shots at the First Lady’s choice of shoes?  She’s jealous.  Seriously, Chelsea Handler is jealous because – let’s be honest – Melania Trump rocks in stiletto heels, something Ms. Handler would obviously love to be able to do.  The reality is that the First Lady rocked in those sneakers, too, which no doubt drove Ms. Handler into a vodka-fueled rage.
  • Envy and jealousy are ugly emotions.  Nowhere do they reveal themselves more starkly and succinctly than in snarky, 140-character messages on Twitter.  And nowhere do they manifest more pettily than on the Fashion and Style pages of the NYTimes.
  • But it wasn’t just the NYTimes – fake news sites like the Daily Beast, The Washington Post and the Hollywood Reporter also carried similarly snarky commentary on the First Lady’s fashion choice.  It must be sad to have nothing better to do with your time while pretending to be a working journalist.  Really, really sad.
  • Writing for the Washington Post, fake journalist Robin Givhan tried to dress her piece up as semi-serious commentary in which the First Lady’s shoe choices serve as a metaphor for a presidency that is out of touch with the common man, as if a fake journalist with the WaPo has any idea what the “common man” thinks about anything:  “Melania Trump is the kind of woman who travels to a flood-ravaged state in a pair of black snakeskin stilettos. Heels this high are not practical. But Trump is not the kind of woman who has to be practical. Heels this high are not comfortable. Comfort is not the point. Neither hers nor yours…Heading off to Texas, she looked dressed to view a natural disaster from a distance, from on high, not up close. Her ensemble implied that people’s personal stories would be ferried to her after they had been vetted and tidied up.”
  • Wow.  Robert Duval’s character in True Grit would have read that passage and said “I call that bold talk for a fake journalist sitting comfortably in her cube funded by the world’s richest man.”  Again, look at the jealousy flowing out of Ms. Givhan’s sentences.  The envy.  The rage.
  • Here’s reality:  If Melania Trump’s husband were a Democrat, she’d be universally hailed as America’s foremost fashion icon, and praised by the very same jealous liberals who today are bemoaning her choice of shoes.  Melania Trump looks fantastic in anything she wears, and this obviously drives people like Ms. Givhan crazy.
  • Melania Trump is obviously very conscious of the image she projects in her role as America’s First Lady, as any First Lady should be.  She is obviously most comfortable in public wearing high heels.  If this drives fake journalists at the NYTimes and Wapo, and leftist c-list celebrities into jealous rages, so be it.
  • I can’t believe I just wrote 744 words on this subject, but there it is.

Just another day in jealous liberal rage America.

That is all.

Houston’s Local Leaders Getting Unfair Rap On Evacuation Decision

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • My wife and I moved to Houston in June, 2004, at the insistence of the company I worked for at the time.  For 18 years prior to that, we had lived and raised our children in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers and, more recently, the Dallas Cowboys.  We moved back to North Texas a year ago in order to be closer to our kids and grand kids, but during our dozen years in Houston, we developed a great and abiding love for that great city, which is now undergoing its worst flood event in modern times thanks to Hurricane Harvey.
  • Our move to Houston came just a few years after Tropical Storm Allison, the city’s previous record flood event, which made us mindful to select a home that lay outside the 100-year flood plain.  A year after we relocated, Katrina devastated New Orleans, and Houston opened its generous arms to tens of thousands of that city’s displaced residents, many of whom became permanent Houston residents.  Louisiana, San Antonio, Dallas and many other cities are returning that favor this week.
  • A few weeks later, we rode out Hurricane Rita as much of the city’s population needlessly evacuated, creating havoc on highways all over Texas.  Since then, we also hunkered down through Hurricane Ike and a series of severe flooding events.  Over those years and through those events, I learned a lot about how Houston works and doesn’t work, and developed a great deal of admiration for the area’s consistently high quality of leadership during such disasters.  All of which is why it irritates me to no end to see Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett getting criticized for their joint decision to not evacuate Houston and surrounding areas in advance of Hurricane’s Harvey’s landfall.
  • Much of the criticism emanates from the fact that Texas Governor Greg Abbott made a statement last Thursday morning in which he advised citizens from Corpus Christi up to Houston to get to higher ground.  But in that same statement, he said he was leaving the ultimate decision on whether or not to issue a mandatory evacuation order up to Mayor Turner and Judge Emmett, which was appropriate. Sadly, much of the criticism directed at those two local leaders in recent days appears to be politically motivated, coming mainly from outsiders who know little about the situation on the ground.
  • Given Houston’s experience with Rita and Ike, along with other recent flooding events like the Memorial Day 2015 flood, both Turner – a Democrat – and Emmett – a Republican – agreed that the best course of action was not to evacuate, but to advise citizens to hunker down in place and keep the streets and freeways clear for search and rescue teams to operate if necessary.  There are several reasons why this was a completely justifiable decision to make.
  • The first reason is the unpredictability of storms like Harvey.  Even though forecasters were warning on Thursday that the storm could create the flooding we have since seen take place, we must remember that hurricanes are notorious for taking last-minute jogs to the north or south that render the projections of computer models laughably wrong.
  • That is what happened with Hurricane Rita in September of 2005.  Coming just a few weeks after Katrina, most Houstonians panicked and evacuated the city, even those whose homes sat on high ground.  The result was several hundred thousand cars on the roads trying to simultaneously leave the city that should have remained in their garages.  The result was complete gridlock throughout the eastern half of the State of Texas.  I knew one person who took 11 hours to make the drive from Alvin to Sugar Land, just 40 miles away, another couple who took 24 hours to make what is normally a 4 hour drive up to Dallas.
  • Hundreds of thousands of cars remained on these gridlocked roads when Rita made landfall, and had the storm remained on the course the computer models were projecting, a massive loss of human life could have taken place.  Luckily for travelers stuck on the highways, Rita made a last-minute jog to the north and ended up going into deep East Texas and Louisiana instead.  An attempt to evacuate 4 million people out of Houston on Thursday of last week could well have created a similar gridlocked situation as Harvey made landfall – there was no way to know.
  • When Hurricane Ike came through in 2008, again several hundred thousand Houstonians who would have been better off hunkering down decided to evacuate.  Luckily, road improvements and contra-flow lane provisions enacted after Rita helped to make the gridlock related to Ike a shorter-timed event.
  • People need to understand this about Houston:  it is not New Orleans, and comparisons being made between Katrina’s devastation of New Orleans and what Harvey is doing to Houston are asinine.
  • The first difference is one of scale:  In 2005, New Orleans was a city of about 500,000 residents.  There are 6 million people living today in the Houston metropolitan area.  Estimates at the time were that it would have taken about 36 hours to fully evacuate New Orleans, had Mayor Ray Nagin and Governor Kathleen Blanco just acted in time.  Unfortunately, they failed to do so, and disaster resulted.
  • The best estimates available today is that it would take four days to fully evacuate Houston and its surrounding suburbs.  Obviously, Harvey developed so rapidly that Mayor Turner and Judge Emmett could never have made the call in time.
  • Then there is the landscape:  Most of New Orleans lies below sea level, and the city has a long history of being inundated by significant hurricanes.  Katrina was terrible, but far from unprecedented.  In contrast, Houston is above sea-level.  Its flooding issues mainly take place in the low-lying areas that lie near the many creeks, rivers and bayous that run through and around the city, but the vast majority of homes are in reality safe from even this current unprecedented flooding event.
  • Finally, Mayor Turner and Judge Emmett face a problem of communication – most people simply don’t listen.  Local officials in 2005 were very clear in their pleas to Houstonians outside of the low-lying areas in danger from Rita to just stay home and ride out the storm.  Hundreds of thousands of perfectly safe people either did not hear those pleas or ignored them.  The same thing happened with Ike in 2008.
  • Thus, when faced with an option to try to advise only those in low-lying areas to evacuate, while pleading with everyone else to shelter in place, can we doubt that the Mayor and Judge knew what the likely result would be?
  • The reality here is that there was no “right” or “wrong” decision to be made last Thursday.  Governor Abbott’s advice was perfectly sound, and so was the decision-making by Mayor Turner and Judge Emmett.  It should be instructive to all the hindsight-judging critics out there that Governor Abbott and federal officials have all, to a person, steadfastly refused to criticize the decision not to order an evacuation despite having had multiple nationally-televised opportunities to do so.
  • Houston and its people are undergoing a major crisis right now, and officials at every level are doing everything they can to help address the situation.  Criticism coming mainly from people who really know little about the facts on the ground just make their jobs harder, and it needs to stop.

That is all.

Yet Another Riot In Yet Another Democrat City

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Yet another police stand-down in another Democrat-controlled city took place on Sunday, and yet again the fake news media pretty much ignored the story.  This time, the Antifa-led riot took place in a familiar place – Berkeley California, where an Oregon-based group called “Patriot’s Prayer” had planned to hold a peaceful demonstration of the exercise of free speech, a rapidly-dying concept in our country wherever Democrats are in control.
  • Lacking confidence in the intent of the Berkeley police to provide adequate security, Patriot’s Prayer cancelled its event, but a few of its members showed up anyway to exercise their supposed constitutional right to assemble and speak.  That was when they were set upon by hundreds of black-clad, masked Antifa terrorists.  As is always the case whenever Antifa thugs arrive, beatings and destruction of property ensued.   (Ironically, much of the action took place underneath a banner hung from a light pole that read, “Berkeley Stands United Against Hate.”)
  • And, as has been the case several times previously in Berkeley this year, the police were obviously ordered to stand down and did nothing to curb the violence.  At one point, they abandoned the scene altogether, retreating to a nearby station, where I guess they had a cup of coffee and some donuts.
  • When interviewed by a local news station about the situation, Berkeley Police Chief Andrew Greenwald was nonchalant about his decision to stand down, saying “It’s a little early, we will take a look at what happened today but it doesn’t make sense to fight over something where the conditions have changed. The need for separation simply didn’t exist. And we’ll review the operation and once again learn from what we did. And that’s pretty much all I have to say for you now…And as far as I am concerned there are some deep discussions that need to happen within our community about providing space for Antifa and some of the folks we saw here today.”
  • So, the Democrat Chief of Police, having obviously been ordered to stand down by the Democrat Mayor, is more concerned about “providing space for Antifa” than anything else that took place in his city on Sunday.  This is your Democrat Party today, folks.  You vote for these anti-American idiots – and that’s what these people running Berkeley, Charlottesville and many other cities are – at your own risk.
  • The UK Daily Mail reports that “scientists” have produced a study showing that women with wide faces have a lust for power.  That certainly helps to explain Hillary Clinton, Angela Merkel, Debbie Wasserman-Schulz and Elizabeth Warren, but gives us no insight at all on the mouse-faced Nancy Pelosi, or the never-ending clown show that is Maxine Waters.
  • President Trump’s pardon of 85 year-old former Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio predictably touched off yet another round of outright crazy from the Trump-hating left and the Trump-hating #neverTrump moron faction of the Republican Party.  The silliest criticism came from political enemies like Arizona senators like John McCain and Jeff Flake, who derided the President for “not following the Justice Department review process” with the pardon, as if there is some “process” that governs what is an absolute authority granted explicitly to all presidents in the Constitution.
  • The best, though, were a set of idiotic op-eds from leftist authors claiming that the pardon was somehow “impeachable” and an “assault on the judiciary”, as a couple of writers did.  The Washington Post felt is was appropriate to publish at least two such pieces.
  • Here’s reality:  This 85 year-old was about to be sentenced to jail time for ignoring the order of a leftist federal judge to stop enforcing immigration law.  That’s the truth.  This judge “convicted” Mr. Arpaio of “contempt” while denying him his right to a trial by jury, something that is also explicitly guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.  Her decision would have beyond all doubt been overturned by the U.S. appellate court, but she is so focused on making a political prisoner of Mr. Arpaio that she was moving to sentence him before his appeal could be heard.  This is what fake Republicans like McCain and Flake, and the entirety of the nation’s fake news media are supporting.
  • Meanwhile, Barack Obama, during his 8 years in office, issued 1,715 pardons of a wide variety of murderers, thugs, drug dealers and at least one trans-gender traitor to the nation without generating a peep of protest from McCain, Flake or any of the op-ed writers at the Washington Post. And guess what?  He had an unfettered, explicit constitutional authority to issue those pardons, as repugnant to the sensibilities of most thinking Americans they might have been.
  • But hey, you can’t cure crazy like these people are exhibiting.  Long after we have cures for AIDS, cancer, muscular dystrophy and the heartbreak of psoriasis, Trump Derangement Syndrome-style crazy will endure.

Just another day in stand down cops in Democrat cities America.

That is all.

Sebastian Gorka is Gone, But the Trump Agenda Rolls Along

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Deputy National Security Advisor Sebastian Gorka resigned late Friday, leaving behind a plaintive, drama-filled letter of resignation.  The letter is fairly long, but this passage neatly encapsulates its sentiments: “[G]iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are – for now – ascendant within the White House.  As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the People’s House.” So, Dr. Gorka is the latest of the original set of Trump advisors to be forced out of the White House by Chief of Staff John Kelly and National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster.  But don’t worry about the good doctor:  in its own report on the resignation, Breitbart notes that it is currently negotiating a deal to bring him on staff as a commentator.  He won’t be going hungry anytime soon.
  • Don’t get me wrong here – I like Dr. Gorka and have always found him to be an astute analyst of the problem of Islamic terrorism.  As such, I’d much rather have him in the White House than outside of it.  But President Trump has made his choices for who his senior advisors will be, and has clearly gone with the Generals.  These generals serve at the pleasure of the President, so if Mr. Trump were unhappy with the many staff changes that have taken place since General Kelly assumed his new position, he’d have full power to stop them.  That that hasn’t happened tells us all we need to know.
  • Mr. Gorka’s letter also contains the following ominous sentence:  “The fact that those who drafted and approved the speech [on the situation in Afghanistan] removed any mention of Radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism proves that a crucial element of your presidential campaign has been lost.”  This is nonsense, a sentence Mr. Gorka no doubt drafted in a fit of pique.  The fact that the speech did not include the utterance of either of those phrases does not at all mean that the President has lost focus on eradicating ISIS, Al Qaeda and the Taliban, or on punishing nations like Pakistan that harbor those and other Islamic terrorist groups.  The U.S. military campaign to eradicate ISIS continues to produce excellent results, and the President, in his speech, gave his generals explicit authority to step up the campaign on Al Qaeda and the Taliban.
  • Indeed, despite the exit in recent weeks of several “Trump loyalists” (as the fake media describes them) during August, there is no noticeable corresponding let-up in the Trump agenda.  This week we have seen the President pardon Sheriff Joe Arpaio, reversing a kangaroo court ruling by an outlaw left wing judge; threaten to shut down the government if he doesn’t get funding for the border wall; order General James Mattis to indefinitely suspend recruitment of trans-genders into the military forces; and prepare paperwork necessary to end DACA, yet another Obama-era open borders program.
  • Those are just the high-profile items that the fake news media has made a big deal of.  There continue to be dozens of administration initiatives taking place under the radar to reorganize inefficient bureaucracies, rescind or rewrite horrible Obama-era regulations – like EPA’s heinous “Waters of the U.S.” power grab – and fire or isolate disloyal apparatchiks at various agencies.
  • This has been the story of the Trump Administration for seven months now:  While the fake news media focuses on sensational stories like Russia Collusion, Charlottesville riots and Civil War statue removals, the Administration’s senior leadership continues to execute revolutionary changes in the way the government functions while flying underneath the media radar.
  • So don’t worry about Sebastian Gorka.  He’ll be just fine.  Like Steve Bannon, he may well be a more effective advocate for Trump policies at Breitbart than from within the White House, as his own letter states.  Meanwhile, the Trump agenda continues to move forward.  Hey, maybe these generals are “Trump loyalists”, too.  Just a thought.

Just another day in White House revolving door America.

That is all.

Trump’s Response To Harvey: Fake News Media Narrative Is Already Set

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • If you’ve been wondering how the fake news media would treat the Trump Administration’s response to the disaster that Hurricane Harvey is about to produce along the Texas coast, wonder no more, because the shameless sleaze balls who run Salon.com have already let the cat out of the bag.  There will be no honest reporting, there will be no honest analysis, there will be no real information conveyed by the fake news media to Texas residents for whom information will be crucial in the coming days.  The fake news media/Democrat Axis of Sedition narrative is set, and it will be one of ceaseless criticism of every action the President takes, every word out of his mouth, and yes, every tweet from his Twitter feed.
  • At 3:08 Thursday afternoon, well before the most outer band of Hurricane Harvey had thought about making landfall, a fake journalist named Sophia Tesfaye posted a piece at Salon.com with a headline that would have never even been conceived during the Obama years, and would have waited until after Harvey had come and gone in any other presidential administration.  But this is the Trump Administration, after all, and the media/Democrats/establishment Republicans are smack in the middle of executing a slow-moving coup d’etat, so why wait?
  • “Trump Just Flunked His First Natural Disaster Test”, reads the blaring headline to Ms. Tesfaye’s piece.  Yes, the test hadn’t even arrived, FEMA hadn’t even had a chance to spring into action, but already Donald Trump had “flunked”.  Thank goodness I didn’t have to live up to Salon’s dictated fake timeline when I sat for the SAT back in 1974.
  • So why, a reasonable person – none of which exist in the fake news media anymore – might ask, has President Trump already flunked a test that was yet to make landfall?  Well, because, as Ms. Tesfay “reasons”, he issued a tweet that contained public service information on Thursday morning.
  •  The offending tweet reads as follows:  “As  intensifies – remember to . #hurricanes.gov #ready.gov #fema.gov”.  Doesn’t seem too offensive, does it?  Given that tweets are limited to 140 characters, it also conveyed a good deal of useful information for people to follow up on.  It was also accompanied by a short film that provided further information, but which Ms. Tesfaye falsely calls a “campaign commercial.”
  • So how in the world do Ms. Tesfaye and her fellow seditionists at Salon reason that this single tweet means the Trump Administration has already utterly failed in its response to a hurricane that hadn’t yet made landfall?  Let’s let Ms. Tesfaye’s own idiotic words speak for themselves:  “According to the White House, Trump was briefed on the government’s hurricane preparation efforts earlier this month, but his campaign-style commercial — fitted with a dramatic soundtrack — failed to convey any of that information to worried residents in the storm’s path. His tweet did not include basic information, like who is in danger, how to be prepared or what the government is doing to prepare.”
  • For crying out loud, you insufferable moron, it’s a freaking TWEET.  You can’t convey everything everybody needs to know about how to prepare for a freaking hurricane in 140 freaking characters.  Ok, deep breathing…deeeeep breathing….
  • Ok, I’m back.  Look, I’m not going to go on about this particular steaming pile of horse manure from Salon any further – it doesn’t really deserve the 550 words I’ve already written about it here.  Just be aware that this piece is the canary in this particular coal mine.  This piece contains the tone and sort of specious reasoning we can all expect to emanate over the next several days from similar fake reporters at CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, the WaPo, the NYTimes and probably most of the Texas news media as well.  The narrative is already set, actual performance by Texas government officials – all of whom are hated Republicans – and the Trump Administration won’t matter.
  • There will be no real, actual journalism going on here.  There will only be the narrative.  American journalism is a sick profession, and Ms. Tesfaye is merely a symptom.

Just another day in tiresome narratives America.

That is all.

So Much Fake News, So Little Time

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • “I said that last night  and again tonight, but nobody said that.  Wait, did I just say that?” – After spending an hour Tuesday night fake moderating a panel during which President Trump was referred to as “unhinged” and other synonyms of that word dozens of times, CNN fake host Don Lemon responded “nobody said that about the President” last night when a guest challenged him for calling the President “crazy” and “unhinged.”  Because, after all, this is CNN.
  • They’re like a modern-day Martin and Lewis, only without the talent. – During that same segment, both Lemon and fellow CNN fake host Brian Stelter repeatedly claimed that Ronald Reagan suffered from Alzheimer’s disease during the second term of his presidency, a complete lie make up by former Fox News Host Bill O’Reilly in a recent book.  That lie has been thoroughly debunked by Reagan’s doctors – who did not diagnose the ex-President with the disease until 1994, five years after he had left office – and dozens of Reagan’s colleagues.  But Lemon and Stelter did what CNN’s fake hosts do when caught in lies, and repeated it over and over and over again.
  • Hey, if he can lie about dead guys, he can lie about live ones too. – Perhaps that skill for making up lies about long-dead American figures that fill best-selling books is why CNN’s honchos are reportedly negotiating to bring O’Reilly in as a fake host for their own network.  They obviously have an eye for appropriate CNN fake talent.
  • But lying, vindictive fake journalists are not limited to CNN.  Wall Street Journal Editor Gerard Baker found that out the  hard way on Wednesday.  Having grown weary of seeing his own reporters exhibit an anti-Trump bias and disregard for truth everyone is used to seeing from the NYTimes and WaPo, Baker lectured his staff to “stick to the facts” when reporting on the President and his administration. Before he could say Trump Derangement Syndrome, Baker found that his personal emails had been leaked to the public.  This behavior is obviously an epidemic within the journalistic profession, not something that is limited to employment at specific outlets.
  • And the lying at media outlets is not limited to fake journalists. – ESPN President John Skipper is so damn stupid that he actually decided to defend his moronic, indefensible decision to deny play-by-play guy Robert Lee the chance to call a University of Virginia football game because his name is, well, Robert Lee.  Skipper issued a statement on Wednesday in which he now claims the person who initiated discussion about the assignment was Mr. Lee himself, a claim that is patently unbelievable.  Mr. Lee, who is an Asian American who will never in his life be mistaken as a descendant of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, isn’t commenting on the matter.  If a fish rots from the head down, ESPN is well and truly rotted.
  • So, you’re saying the truth hurts… – The NYTimes published a story in its Thursday edition headlined “Trump, Calling Journalists ‘Sick People’, Puts Media On Edge.”  Given that only a ‘sick person’ would write such a headline, pen the article underneath it, put it on Page 1 and call it “news,” it appears President Trump is onto something.  You keep hoping that these sick people in the journalist “profession” might eventually take a step back and engage in a little group introspection.  But self-awareness is never a strong point in “sick people.”
  • Bartender, I’ll have whatever those 5% are drinking, and make it a double. – A new Rasmussen survey reveals that 47% of likely voters believe that “when reporters write or talk about President Trump, they are trying to block the president from passing his agenda. Forty-one percent think members of the media are simply interested in reporting the news in an unbiased manner, while 5 percent feel they are trying to help Trump pass his agenda.”  Proving, of course, that 41% of likely voters are hopeless nitwits.

Just another day in fake news media America.

That is all.

The Media Narrative Is Dead! Long Live The New Narrative!

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Just because Russia Collusion is dead doesn’t mean you’re not still being brainwashed. – So, the whole Russia Collusion fantasy play has cratered.  No one was buying it, investigations by half a dozen congressional committees and a special counsel haven’t been able to come up with any real evidence for it, and the public didn’t care.  Thus, as soon as Imran Awan, the Pakistani “IT expert” who was paid millions of dollars by dozens of congressional Democrats over a decade to perform duties they cannot explain, was arrested while trying to flee the country, the fake news media and their Democrat clients dropped Russia Collusion like a hot potato and staged a riot in Charlottesville – a riot we now know was organized on both sides by Barack Obama disciples – so the narrative could shift to ‘President Trump’s a racist!!!!!!’
  • That narrative has lasted for all of two weeks, but now that it has become obvious that the vast majority of Americans are opposed to the media/Democrat tactic of trying to tie statues of confederate leaders who fought a war 152 years ago to the racial views of the current President, the media/Democrat axis of sedition are moving the narrative again.
  • The new narrative that you are being brainwashed to believe is what we’ll call the 25th Amendment narrative.  That narrative will attempt to convince a critical mass of Americans that President Trump is crazy – “unhinged” was the favorite term used by pretty much every TV talking head outside of Fox News on Tuesday – and thus, must be removed from office and replaced by Vice President Mike Pence under the terms of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution.
  • Thus it was that on Tuesday, after the President had made a nationally televised speech on Afghanistan that scored incredibly well in snap polls and focus groups, the fake editors and reporters at the NYTimes trotted out a story filled with unsourced quotes from anonymous “sources” who claim that Mitch McConnell is now whispering to confidants that President Trump must be impeached.
  • And thus it was that, following the President’s bombastic rally speech in Phoenix – related to which it was clear that the only “unhinged” participants were the leftist protesters who were paid to be there by Democrat-supported organizers – both CNN and MSNBC followed with panels filled with leftist talking heads who chanted “unhinged” at every opportunity.  CNN even went so far as to trot out serial perjurer and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper to sagely pronounce the President “unfit to hold the office.”  Hey, at least he didn’t say “unhinged” – a little variety in wording is a good tactic for trying to fool viewers that you aren’t just sitting there parroting DNC talking points.
  • So this is the new focus, and it will become ubiquitous for awhile, until the fake media/Democrats figure out that isn’t going to work, either.  Then they’ll move onto some other narrative, and will keep doing so until a) Donald Trump has served out his two full terms in office, or b) they succeed in creating a second U.S. Civil War, which of course is their goal.
  • Nothing says “unhinged” like denying work to an Asian guy because his name is Robert Lee. – Yes, that just happened.  The leftist nitwits who, like a colony of termites have infested ESPN over the past decade, actually did announce that they were denying Mr. Lee his gig as play-by-play announcer for the University of Virginia’s season opening football game because his name is the same as the Confederate general, Robert E. Lee.  ESPN’s leadership made that announcement proudly, obviously in  the belief that they are just the bestest people in the world for being so “sensitive” and for not wanting to trigger all the snowflake students at UVA, who, after all, might well otherwise think that their football game was being called by a 200 year-old leader of the South.  Breathtaking.
  • But it gets even better. – A Catholic priest in Arlington, Virginia has been suspended from his job after it was revealed that he was a member of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1980s.  My goodness.  Obviously, this priest is not a Democrat, because if he were, he’d be lionized by the Clintons and Obamas and the CNNs and the NYTimes as a hero, as former Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan Robert Byrd was during his 40 years in the United States Senate.

Just another day in constantly shifting narrative America.

That is all.

Finally, An Actual Plan For Achieving Goals In Afghanistan

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • President Trump’s decision announced Monday night to increase the U.S. presence in Afghanistan by sending up to 4,000 additional troops and military advisers into that already 16 year-old war is both disappointing, and encouraging.  The disappointment comes in the President’s going back on his oft-repeated campaign pledge to get our country out of that armpit of the earth, where more that 2,500 American lives have already been sacrificed to accomplish goals that under President George W. Bush were overly-ambitious and unachievable, and that under President Barack Obama were vague and unsupported in any real way by that administration.  In announcing his intent to extend U.S. involvement even further, one cannot help but fear that Mr. Trump has allowed himself to be co-opted into what has become a literal money pit for the military-industrial complex.
  • All that aside, it was at least encouraging to hear an American President eschew entirely the ill-fated neo-conservative hubris of “nation-building” in the Middle East, and work to set clear and obtainable side bars for our country’s ongoing commitment to Afghanistan, without setting artificial and counter-productive time lines whose only result was to allow the radical Muslim factions operating in the countryside to simply wait us out.  If nothing else positive can be said, this plan at least is what a real strategy for achieving real goals looks like, something we never saw during the Obama years.
  • The President’s harsh words directed towards Pakistan, and its continuing harboring of Al Qaeda and Taliban training bases and safe havens are also encouraging.  Unlike his predecessor in office, this President’s word in such matters has already been proven to be meaningful and carrying real intent of purpose.  Pakistani officials will ignore that word at their own peril.
  • A final encouraging factor in all of this is that this strategy was developed and is led by Defense Secretary General James “Mad Dog” Mattis, and not his the feckless, un-serious bureaucrat predecessor, the execrable Jeh Johnson.  General Mattis inspires confidence in a way few men can match, and no one can question his loyalty to this country and commitment to doing what he believes is best for the military he oversees.
  • We all know that the First Rule of Plans is that they fall completely apart the moment the enemy is engaged.  At that point, it is crucial to have the best possible leadership to lead the improvisation that follows.  General Mattis is that best possible leadership for this plan, making it at least reasonable to hope things will work out better in the coming years in Afghanistan than they have over the past 16 years.
  • Fake news, fake news everywhere, and not a drop of truth. – The fake news media and the fake polls they pay to dummy up would have us all believe that President Trump is the  incredibly unpopular leader of a divided political party that is falling apart, and that the Democrat Party is poised to make huge gains in the 2018 mid-term elections.  The only problem with that narrative is that none of it is true.  If you want proof, all you need to do is look at the latest fundraising efforts by both political parties.
  • The truth of this matter is that the Republican National Committee (RNC) out-raised the Democrat National Committee (DNC) by a factor of almost 3 to 1 during July.  The RNC took in $10.2 million last month, while the DNC raised a paltry $3.8 million.  Making the balance of funds even more stark, the RNC has no debt, while the DNC is saddled with a debt of $3.4 million.  The July fundraising comparison just continues a trend that has existed throughout 2017, with the RNC’s advantage growing as the year has progressed, in spite of the efforts by 98% of the national news media to paint the President as a lunatic tool of Vladimir Putin.
  • On the congressional side of the ledger, the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has slightly out-raised the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) so far in 2017 – $66 million compared to $64 million – but that comes as faint comfort to a party with a 50+ seat disadvantage, especially given that the NRCC has about a $12 million advantage in cash on hand.  By the same token, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee out-raised its GOP counterpart by about $700,000 in July, but that’s actually a terrible result when one considers that 25 Democrat senators are up for re-election in 2018, compared to just 9 Republicans.
  • The truth is this:  the Republican brand is very unpopular, but the Democrat brand is in complete shambles.  The Republicans can go a long way towards repairing their brand by simply passing some tax cuts and some form of an infrastructure bill between now and November 2018.  To repair their brand between now and then, the Democrats would have to stage a palace coup and jettison both Nancy Pelosi and Charles Schumer from their congressional leadership, along with the leftist radicals Tom Perez and Keith Ellison who lead the DNC, and more importantly, replace them all with leaders who are actually attractive and likable to a majority of the country’s voters.  It is painfully hard to see who those new leaders might be within the Democrat ranks.
  • As we sit here today, the GOP is actually in pretty strong shape for 2018, in spite of its own congressional ineptitude.  Once again, the media narrative that we are being fed 24 hours every day is a shameful lie.  Some things never change.

Just another day in fake news media America.

That is all.

The President Should, But Won’t, Declare Antifa A Terrorist Organization

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Terrorism comes in many names.  “Antifa” is one of them. – An interesting, though little-noticed, item related to the fascist hate group “Antifa” (which ironically is a contraction for ‘Anti-Fascist’) story is developing as a part of the White House on-line petitioning process that was created by the Obama Administration.  This petition demands that the Trump Administration formally recognize Antifa as a terrorist organization, which it clearly and unambiguously is.  “AntiFa has earned this title due to its violent actions in multiple cities and their influence in the killings of multiple police officers throughout the United States,” the petition reads in part.
  • The process requires that such petitions obtain 100,000 signatures of support from U.S. citizens within 30 days of their filing.  This Antifa-related petition was filed last Thursday, meaning it received the necessary support in less than four days.  So, obviously there is a great deal of interest in and support for this effort, most of it probably concentrated among Donald Trump’s voter base.
  • It will be interesting to observe how the White House responds to this petition – and the rules for this process do require such a response whenever any petition reaches the critical mass of support.  There is no doubt at all that Antifa is indeed a domestic terrorist organization.  Its’ spokespeople, such as they are, bragged about being exactly that in interviews on NBC and CNN this past week, claiming their strategy is to “commit violence in order to create peace,” a statement so laughably nonsensical that only NBC’s Chuck Todd and the peabrain on-air talent at CNN could listen to it without openly laughing.  This group commits violence wherever it shows its ugly, masked face, beating opponents with baseball bats laced with nails, spraying people and police alike with pepper spray and mace and urine, and wantonly burning buildings and destroying public and private property alike.  Committing violence for shock value is the very definition of terrorism.
  • Don’t hold your breath waiting for this to happen. –  President Trump’s team of advisors will no doubt counsel him not to take this step because it would be “divisive” (I can hear H.R. McMaster saying those words as I type this), and out of fear of incurring negative media coverage, as if this President ever gets anything else from the fake news media.
  • Still, if nothing else, this puts the President and his advisors on the spot and at least forces them to focus on the question.  It will also force Mr. Trump to clearly recognize those among his advisors who counsel him to avoid doing what he clearly knows is the right thing to do under the law.  Antifa clearly is a domestic terrorist organization and is quite proud of that fact.  Coddling and placating them will only make them bolder.
  • What in the hell is going on with our Navy? – For the third time since May, a U.S. war ship has collided with a gigantic merchant vessel in open waters off of the Asian continent.  The Navy has announced the collision of the USS John McCain was the result of “poor seamanship”, and that this poor seamanship has resulted in ten sailors being missing at sea.  Rescue operations are underway, and we should all pray for their survival.
  • I never served in the Navy, but it is honestly baffling to me how these events can happen with modern warships.  We are long past the days of ships having to rely on such things as bells and horns to signal ships’ presence at night or in heavy fogs.  These ships are equipped with millions of dollars worth of radars, sonars and global positioning technology.  How they can miss the presence of an oil tanker in their proximity is almost beyond comprehension.
  • The previous two incidents have been followed with the usual perfunctory military inquiry followed by unsatisfying official statements.  This third incident in four months demands an official, formal investigation into the whole series of events.  One such incident can be explained as a simple accident; two as mere coincidence; but three, as they say, is a pattern, and this pattern is getting U.S. Navy personnel killed at a disturbing rate.  Time to find out why.

Just another day in poor seamanship America.

That is all.

If We Don’t Get Over The First Civil War We Might Have A Second

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • When the news came out that a Civil War reenactment scheduled to take place at the Manassas battlefield in Virginia  was being cancelled due to fears over possible violence from leftwing groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter, I saw a tweet from some guy saying something to the effect that “The Civil War was 152 years ago – why can’t black people just get over it?”
  • Now, I’m a conservative and I’m pretty sure I had ancestors who fought for the South in the Civil War, since both sides of my family came into this country in the late 18th/early 19th centuries through North Carolina, but I found that tweet quite offensive, and can only imagine how offensive any descendant of slaves might find it.  But we see that argument expressed quite often by those who, for whatever reason, feel the need to continue reenacting Civil War battles, flying the stars and bars out in front of their house, and defending the need to keep statues of Jefferson Davis on some university campus or on the grounds of some other public building.
  • I often wonder if these folks ever consider the other side of that same argument, which is this:  “The Civil War ended 152 years ago – why can’t confederacy defenders just get over it?”  Seriously, think about it:  isn’t 152 years long enough to honor the leaders of what was in fact an armed rebellion against the United States of America?  Does it really take more than the six or seven generations that have passed through your families since 1865 to get those resentments out of your blood?
  • Seriously, take a step back for just a minute and think:  Does it really matter to your life if that statue of Jefferson Davis or Robert E. Lee keeps standing out in front of your local courthouse?  Have you ever stopped to think about how it must feel to descendants of slaves who surely live in your community to walk by that statue knowing that their tax dollars help pay for its upkeep and public display?
  • And please, don’t give me that crap about the Civil War not being about preservation of slavery.  If you’re one of the people who uses that line, I want to personally challenge you to take a few hours out of your day to read each state’s articles of confederation.  If you do that, you will find that all 11 confederate states listed the preservation of slavery as a reason for their decision, and 9 of the 11 states listed it as the first reason.  Save that argument for someone else.
  • Then there’s the argument about “we have to preserve our history!”, and with that one, I’m in full agreement.  But keeping a statue of Stonewall Jackson out on the courthouse lawn for 120 years doesn’t really teach anyone anything about history, does it?  Not without the provision of context.
  • Our biggest problem in the current hysteria from the political left over these monument is that we now have two full generations of young people who haven’t been given any real context about any of this in our schools and universities.  The teaching of civics and American History was de-emphasized during the ’70s and ’80s, after the radicals of the ’60s came to dominate our education system, in favor of indoctrinating our children with all sorts of leftwing nonsense.
  • Unless they took American history or civics as an elective, the only thing anyone under 40 or so has ever been taught about Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson is what they get from the news media, and the only message they get from the news media is that they were eeeeevil, which of course is not true.  They were just men, products of their time and place, doing what they believed to be their civic duty.  But the public lacks that context – all they have in their minds is that simplistic notion they’ve learned from the media.  And so, when  they walk past these statues they have an emotional reaction, because they have no understanding whatsoever of who those men really were and the things they did with their lives outside of the few years of the War.
  • It seems to me that the biggest problem about this entire controversy is that both sides are reacting out of emotion and ignorance.  How can we expect to be a unified nation if so many of our citizens know next-to-nothing about what this nation even is?
  • In all of this controversy, there is an opportunity here for President Trump to take initiative to prove he is a different kind of leader.  A good approach to helping the nation heal would be for Republicans and Democrats to work together to remove all Civil War-related statues – Union and Confederacy alike – from taxpayer-funded public places in an organized, systematic way, and establish a series of Civil War museums around the country where they could reside.  Perhaps establish a bi-partisan commission to then develop a curriculum to be taught in guided tours through these museums that would actually educate attendees and provide context for the people depicted in the statues.  Seems to me this could become a centerpiece of the President’s Infrastructure proposal.
  • I know that’s a pipe dream, since the Democrats seem to be hell-bent on continuing to divide this country along racial lines, but I keep hoping they might wake up sometime soon and realize this is a huge loser of an issue for them.  Every poll taken on this question proves that to be the case.
  • Regardless, this would be a constructive approach for President Trump and his Education and Interior Departments to take to the matter.  Take the initiative here, Mr. President, and demand the Democrats explain why they refuse to work towards a peaceful solution to such a divisive issue.  Provide the public with some context here, both politically and historically.
  • Because, if we can’t get over the first Civil War, we are on a collision course with a second.

Just another day in lack of context America.

That is all.

Will Another Democrat Mayor Allow A Riot In His City? Watch Boston Today.

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • More than a dozen times this year, in cities with Democrat Mayors, the George Soros-funded  and Democrat Party-supported thugs in Antifa and Black Lives Matters have been allowed to turn peaceful protests into outright riots.  Property has been destroyed, political enemies have been attacked, and yes, people have died – most recently in Charlottesville – as a direct result of these actions.
  • These cities have names:  Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Berkeley, California; Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; Baltimore, Maryland; Ferguson, Missouri; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Charlottesville, Virginia.  It’s happened multiple times in some of these cities.  All of these cities have Democrat mayors.   This is not a coincidence.
  • None of these events are accidents.  None of them are organic outpourings of emotion by upset citizens.  All are carefully planned, organized and allowed by public officials to take place, regardless of the consequences.
  • Here’s the playbook:  identify a date and time in one of these cities when a peaceful demonstration, or even better, a gathering of right-wingers, has been permitted by a city or university campus to take place.  Use social media networks to issue a call to arms for agitators to volunteer to show up and turn the peaceful demonstration into a riot, or the gathering of right-wingers into a street fight.
  • Keep a lid on the plan until a day or two prior to the event, then feed stories to willing fake reporters with the narrative along the lines of this report by NBC yesterday:  “Interest in two major protests opposed to Saturday’s right-wing “free speech” assembly in a Boston park has swelled in the aftermath of the deadly white nationalist rally in Virginia last weekend.”  Yes, “interest” just happens to be “swelling”, but pay no attention to the man behind the curtain – this is just a natural response to Charlottesville.
  • Next, have the mayor of said city issue a plea to the protesters to keep it peaceful, a promise to have plenty of law enforcement officers on-hand, and advice to ordinary citizens to just stay away from the area.  And be sure while you’re giving this advice and assurance, you stoke emotions by identifying your political opponents as hate-mongers, whether they are or not.  You know, like this statement from Boston Democrat Mayor Marty Walsh: “There have been questions about why we granted a permit for the rally tomorrow,” said Walsh. “The courts have made it abundantly clear. They have the right to gather, no matter how repugnant their views are. But they don’t have the right to create unsafe conditions. They have the right to free speech. In return, they have to respect our city.  At the same time, we can’t look away. The children of our city are watching, and I want everyone who goes to the Common tomorrow to understand that. The young people of our city are watching TV, are following this. We have to make it clear what we stand for in the City of Boston.”
  • Next, when the day comes and your city has been invaded by hundreds of Antifa and BLM thugs brought in by buses funded by some Soros-affiliated group, the mayor issues an order to his police to stand down and let this un-permitted army confront the permitted demonstrators.  It is only after the riot has been allowed to begin in earnest that the police are finally ordered to try to break it up.
  • Afterwards, after all the carefully-planned mayhem has taken place, after people – including law enforcement officers – have been injured and/or killed, after CNN has gotten all sorts of violent videotape to air 24 hours a day for the next week, you have the Democrat Mayor hold a press conference to blame everything on the demonstrators who had obtained a lawful permit to hold a peaceful, even if repugnant, demonstration.
  • This is what happened in Charlottesville.  It happened this way in other cities as well.  It always happens in cities with Democrat mayors.  This is not a coincidence, not an accident, not a series of unfortunate organic events.  This is a carefully executed plan, repeated over and over and over again.
  • We will have to wait and see what happens Saturday afternoon in the Boston Commons.  Thus far, everything has proceeded exactly according to this obvious plan.  We can only hope that Mayor Walsh will have a moment of clarity and actual concern for his people, allow his law enforcement officials to exercise proper riot control procedures, and keep the Antifa and BLM thugs separated from the rightwing demonstrators.
  • If Mayor Walsh does this, there won’t be a riot in Boston today, because his police officials know what to do to prevent it, and the Soros thugs will go away disappointed.  Let’s all pray that he decides to not allow his city to become yet another Democrat-governed stage for this madness.

Just another day in It’s All Up To You, Mr. Mayor America.

That is all.

Steve Bannon Did Not Make Donald Trump

Ok, so, as I write this, it’s been about 3 hours since the announcement came that White House Chief Leaker…er…Strategy Advisor Steve Bannon has been allowed to resign instead of being fired.

As was inevitable, we are already beginning to see both the #NeverTrump fake conservative media and the mainstream fake news media generate a steady stream of pieces which contend either:

  • This is a disaster for conservatives, because Bannon was Trump’s brain and now Trump will become a liberal (#NeverTrump fake conservative media); or
  • This is a disaster for Trump because Bannon was Trump’s only friend in the White House and he was the person who developed Trump’s entire agenda (Fake mainstream media).

Both contentions are rank, smelly piles of fresh steaming horse shit. (Pardon the PG-13 language, but I’ve just had too much of this nonsense.)

Let me remind everyone of a few salient facts about Mr. Bannon and his time with Donald Trump:

  • Steve Bannon did not “make” Donald Trump.  Indeed, he did not even at any point in time manage the Trump Campaign;
  • Steve Bannon joined the Trump presidential campaign last August 16, at the same time KellyAnne Conway came on board.  It was Conway, not Bannon, who was the driving force in the campaign from that point forward;
  • By the time Bannon came on board, Donald J. Trump had already defeated a field of 16 GOP opponents to win the Republican presidential nomination, dispatching them with the same ease and seeming frequency with which he fired contestants on any given season of The Apprentice;
  • It was Conway, not Bannon, who convinced Trump to exercise Twitter discipline and stay on message through rest of the campaign;  Conway, not Bannon, who played the main role in prepping Trump for the debates;  Conway, not Bannon, who put herself on the line every damn day doing an exhausting series of live TV interviews;
  • Long before Steve Bannon even sniffed the possibility of becoming involved in the Trump campaign, Donald J. Trump had firmly established his full, very conservative agenda that he would pursue as President.  Every position paper, every policy plan, every foreign policy white paper that was a part of the Trump presidential agenda had already been agreed-upon, written and published before Bannon became a part of the campaign;
  • There is a very strong argument to be made that, since coming on board, Steve Bannon has in fact been much more of a distraction and a hindrance to the Trump campaign and Trump presidency than anything else.  Indeed, I have yet to see any writer or pundit of any political persuasion lay out a single positive impact Mr. Bannon has had on any aspect of this Administration’s policy achievements;
  • On the other hand, we have seen all sorts of speculation that Steve Bannon was was an even bigger leak problem than even Reince Priebus was, and that’s saying an awful lot;
  • There is no question at all that Steve Bannon has been a huge distraction and constant lightning rod bringing criticism into the White House.

As far as I’m concerned, getting rid of Bannon is a red letter day for this Administration.  As far as anyone can really tell, he has contributed little to this administration other than confusion and conflict – not to mention hair-brained schemes like a 60% income tax rate on millionaires – and little, if anything of a positive nature.

Steve Bannon didn’t ‘make’ Donald Trump, he came in late, tagged along for the ride, took credit he did not in any way deserve, and contributed nothing that anyone can point to of a positive nature.  Somehow, I think the Republic – and the Trump Presidency – will survive just fine without him.

Good riddance.

That.  Is.  All.

CNN’s Dog-Whistling Is Working According To Plan

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • A state senator in Missouri named Maria Chappell-Nadal – a Democrat, of course – issued a tweet on Thursday in which she said “I hope Trump is assassinated!”  She left the tweet up for several hours before finally deleting it after she had begun to receive calls for her resignation from Republicans and Democrats (shocking, I know, that there are still a few Democrats alive who will actually condemn overt calls to assassinate a president) alike.
  • Or perhaps she decided to delete the tweet after she got her call from the Secret Service, which confirmed to media outlets that it is investigating the threat.
  • Ms. Nadal later issued a fake apology in which she took the juvenile position that she was sorry she got caught:  “I posted something on my personal Facebook and I should not have done that, and for that I am sorry for that,” Chapelle-Nadal told St. Louis television station KMOV. “But I am not going to shy away from what caused that anger at all, I’m not going to shy away from that.”  That’s right:  the senator is such a rank dimwit that she doesn’t even know which social media site she is using to issue her hate speech at any given hour of the day.
  • It should surprise no one that we now have radical leftwing Democrat elected officials joining the Kathy Griffins and Snoop Doggs of the world in overtly calling for the president’s assassination.  After all, this is exactly what the fake news media, led by the open seditionists at CNN, have been dog-whistling to readers and viewers since last November.  When you have a coordinated effort by the national Democrat Party and 95% of the national news media to de-humanize a sitting president in the eyes of the public for the express purpose of bringing down his presidency, that is a virtue-signal that killing him is ok.  After all, if President Trump is no different than Hitler – an assertion we see made on CNN or MSNBC every day of the week – well, then, who wouldn’t kill Hitler?
  • Make no mistake about it, that is the goal of this coordinated effort by the Democrats and their fake media agents.  Senator Nadal proves the campaign is working.
  • And speaking of the nitwits at CNN… – Just when you thought CNN could not become any more absurd, fake news host Wolf Blitzer suggested on live national (sort of) television on Thursday that the Muslim terrorist who killed 13 in Barcelona by driving his van down a tourist-filled street might be “a copycat version of what happened in Charlottesville, Virginia.”  No really, he really said that – you just can’t make this stuff up.
  • Seriously, do these people at CNN just read stuff off their teleprompter and never absorb any of what they actually say?  How many times in the past two years has the world borne witness to incidents in which many innocent people have been killed by Muslim terrorists driving a van, a heavy truck or a passenger car into a crowd of tourists?  More to the question at hand, how many days must Wolf Blitzer spend fake-reporting on such atrocities before he comes to understand that this a common strategy being employed by Muslim terrorists?  Is he actually a sentient human being, or is Wolf Blitzer just a computer-generated hologram?  I seriously wonder if CNN has a corporate rule that any applicant for an on-camera job must not possess an IQ above that of the average parkeet.
  • Speaking of idiot on-air fake talent at CNN, Jake Tapper issued a series of tweets yesterday in which he recounted an incident last Saturday in Charlottesville in which a news reporter was violently assaulted by leftwing Antifa thugs.  When dozens of his Twitter followers pointed out that Mr. Tapper had just proved President Trump was correct to point out and condemn the violence that had occurred among both factions of protesters, Tapper of course did not respond.  Because, this is CNN, after all, and he might get fired if he acknowledged that truth.

Just another day in dog-whistling CNN America.

That is all.

Conservatives Must Focus on Defeating The Alinsky Democrats

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • It is a sad truth of our current societal situation that those on the left wing of the political spectrum no longer possess the ability to argue political issues based on anything resembling facts or logic.  I used to say that they no longer desire to do so, but it has become abundantly clear over the last decade that progressives simply no longer have the ability.
  • The left abandoned any effort to really debate issues at the outset of the Bill Clinton presidency, as the Clintons brought their Saul Alinsky rules for radicals tactics to the White House.  Those rules consist of a dozen tactics that focus away from working cooperatively with the opposition to reach reasonable compromises on issues, and focus instead on a mounting a constant drumbeat of demonization of the opposition.  What was at first a conscious, intentional decision by those on the left to abandon facts and logic has, after 25 years, become a complete loss of the skill.

  • Rule 12 reads “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”  This is the tactic the Democrats and the fake news media have used against President Trump since Hillary Clinton and her campaign people invented the “Russia Collusion” fantasy play two days after last November’s election.  That fantasy, and James Comey’s collusion with it, got them a Special Counel investigation, and will probably nab them a few victims like Paul Manafort for Robert Mueller and his team of Clinton/Obama shills to prosecute.  That tactic initially conformed to Alinsky Rule #6, “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”
  • But it has now worn thin with the public, as the months and months of investigations turn up no real evidence that Donald Trump and his people colluded with the Russians in any way.  As a result, it has run up onto the shoals of Alinsky Rule 7, “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.”  This is why the Democrat/fake media axis of disinformation had to move onto another tactic for freezing and polarizing the President.
  • So, along came Charlottesville.  We now know that the clown who organized the “Unite the Right” white supremacist rally there and got it permitted, Jason Kessler, is a leftist radical who was also an organizer of the George Soros-funded Occupy Wall Street movement.  Probably not coincidentally, it also appears that he is a former producer at …wait for it…CNN!  Given Kessler’s true identity, it is a safe bet that other leftwing radicals participated in that “Unite the Right” rally in order to create negative footage for CNN and other fake news outlets to air.  Classic Alinsky tactics.
  • To ensure maximum negative footage from Charlottesville, leftwingers funded by Soros arranged to bus in hundreds of Antifa and Black Lives Matter thugs to stage an un-permitted protest and turn the whole thing into a riot.  We now know that the police were told to stand down by the city’s leftist radical mayor to ensure maximum carnage took place, and then reliable Clinton toady Terry McAuliffe, the governor of Virginia, gave a completely false and inflammatory speech once the damage was all done.
  • At that point, it did not matter what President Trump said in the wake of the tragic event, he was going to be demonized by the Axis of Disinformation, because that is the final step in this strategy, in keeping with Alinsky Rule #12.  His statement on Saturday was perfectly fine.  Indeed, both former presidents with the last name of Bush issued almost exactly the same statement on Wednesday, and the media parroted it without negative comment.
  • Thus, the tactic that had drug on for too long – Russia Collusion – now has been shifted to a new tactic the leftists love – Trump is a racist, with the fake news media lapdogs loyally executing Rule #8, “Keep the pressure on.  Never let up.”
  • Make no mistake, this is the left’s playbook for as long as Donald Trump is President.  There will be no logical debates.  There will be no cooperation in congress, no compromise on Obamacare, tax reform, infrastucture or any other of the major issues.  Indeed, so long as congressional Republicans continue their own responsive tactics of cowering in fear and making carefully-worded statements that conform to the left’s current narrative, this is how it will be from now on, because that cowardly response by the GOP only breeds confidence among the left.
  • Real conservatives have a choice to make, and that choice amounts to surrender, or working to defeat the left without quarter and without compromise.  Conservatives need to deploy their own set of tactics against the left designed to achieve victory.  The tactics below are based on Alinsky Rule 1, “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.”:
    • Stop engaging them in debate – after all, they stopped engaging with you in any real way a quarter century ago;
    • Work to regulate the hell out of social media monopolies like Google, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.  Make Silicon Valley pay for its collective decision to become a propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.  Anti-trust rules exist for good reason – President Trump should work to become the reincarnation of Teddy Roosevelt;
    • The Justice Department should bring RICO prosecutions against the Clintons and top officials at their pay-to-play family crime foundation.  This classic mob-modeled racket is exactly why the RICO laws exist.  Use them;
    • Jeff Sessions should appoint a second special counsel to investigate Robert Mueller and his obvious conflicts, and his decision to hire only Democrat shills in his investigation, and a third special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton’s email abuses, and Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch’s efforts to fix the 2016 FBI investigation;
    • The President should appoint West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin to be Secretary of Energy, after moving Rick Perry over to be the Secretary of Homeland Security.  That will allow WVA GOP Gov. Justice to appoint a Republican to take Manchin’s place, raising the GOP’s senate majority by one.
    • The Republican senate majority should eliminate the filibuster rule entirely, eliminating the ability of the Democrat minority to roadblock progress.  If Majority Leader Mitch McConnell doesn’t have the stomach for this battle, conservative senators should refuse to cooperate with leadership until McConnell steps down from the job.
  • This could go on and on – there are tons of tactics at the disposal of real conservatives in this fight.  The point is this:  the Republican Party is the clear majority party in this country, and it is long past time that it started acting like it.  Republicans have allowed themselves to be cowed and paralyzed by the left’s Alinsky tactics for a quarter of a century now, and we see them still trying to engage these radicals in constructive debates on issues.
  • The Alinsky Democrats cannot be reasoned with, they can only be defeated.  Albert Einstein famously said that “doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.”  There is no time like the present for conservatives to stop being insane.

Just another day in Saul Alinsky-dominated America.

That is all.

Everyone Chill Out, OK?

Just a little perspective on the current situation, and then I’ll shut up for the day:

  • The current effort by the fake media/Democrat Party ministry of disinformation to tar President Trump as a racist and run him out of office is just a repeat of the playbook they used against Ronald Reagan in 1981-84. Same tactics, same false claims, same inflammatory protests and rhetoric. We have, in other words, seen this movie before.
  • We should all remember that the ending to that movie in 1984 was the single greatest landslide re-election of any sitting president in the history of the American Republic. The average American is much more perceptive than Democrats believe they are.
  • We also need to remember this key difference between 1984 and today – The Democrat Party’s status has radically changed:

    • The Democrat Party in 1984 was a majority national party in almost every respect outside of the Oval Office.  It controlled both houses of congress, a majority of state governorships and a majority of state legislative houses.  It was the majority party in the West, the majority party in the Rust Belt, the majority party in the Midwest, and the majority party in the Northeast.  It had real leadership in congress, and a strong bench of younger, upcoming leaders.  What it didn’t have was a strong candidate to challenge Reagan, whose popularity boomed along with the national economy, which had come roaring back in response to his program of tax cuts.
    • By contrast, The Democrat Party today is in complete and utter disarray. It has no leadership that is attractive outside one fringe group or another.  It is now nothing more than a regional party comprised of an often-conflicting collection of single-issue grievance constituencies.  Its only unifying core philosophy is one of hate:  Hate Trump, hatred of white men, hatred of the police, hatred of the military, hatred of fossil fuels and pipelines.  It has no real leadership outside of the evil George Soros and the termed-out Barack Obama and the twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.  It has no bench of young, upcoming stars to replace its current sclerotic leaders.  It is the majority party only on the West Coast and in some of the Northeast.  It controls neither house of congress, only 4 of 9 seats on the Supreme Court, only 15 of 50 governorships, and an even smaller number of state legislatures.  It is an utterly corrupt and dying entity.
    • Even better for the Republicans, the termed-out Barack Obama, whose feckless and corrupt rule from the radical left and deployment of Alinskyite tactics against his political enemies led directly to the fall of the Democrat Party, is promising to move back onto the political stage this fall.  This can only work to the GOP’s advantage.
  • So tonight, when you turn on CNN or MSNBC (for what reasons I can’t even fathom at this point other than self-abuse)  and see a panel made up of 4 squealing liberals, 2 pontificating fake Republican Trump-haters, and a token real Republican who is there for “balance”, realize that fewer than 1 out of 3000 other Americans are joining you in that inexplicable activity.  Most of them are hopelessly lost souls, but they do not a majority make.
  • Meanwhile, the U.S. economy continues to heat up; the FBI and Justice Department appear to be turning back into real, functioning law enforcement entities again; U.S. foreign policy is working again, even at the previously worthless United Nations; the swamp creatures who have infested and corrupted the State Department, the IRS, the Interior Department, the Energy Department, the EPA and the Department of (no) Education are being run off in droves; the rapidly rising production and exports of oil, coal and liquefied natural gas are turning the U.S. into an energy powerhouse on the international stage; and there have been more than 1 million new jobs created in our country during the first half of 2017.
  • As we sit here today, all of these factors and many more mean it is very likely, given good health, that Donald Trump will be a two-term president.  So do what I’m going to do this evening:  stop worrying and be happy.

That is all.

The President Was Right To Tell The Full Truth About Charlottesville

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Let’s start by stipulating this:  Everything President Trump said in his press conference yesterday about Saturday’s events in Charlottesville was 100% true.  That, of course, is why he was so viciously assailed by every fake reporter in the fake national news media following that press conference.
  • Wait, what? – Yes, that’s how it works with the fake news media these days.  Hell, it’s always how it’s worked with the fake news media.  You have a 100% dishonest class of people – fake journalists and editors at the nation’s major media outlets – who are coordinating with another 100% dishonest class of people – progressive Democrats – to brainwash the public into believing a false narrative, a narrative that demands that every public official who comments on Charlottesville claim that all the violence that happened there was committed by the racist dimwits and thugs of the “Alt-right”.  The racist, leftwing, violent thugs who hundreds of video streams show instigated most of the violence are to be portrayed as “peaceful, well-meaning counter-protesters.”
  • Toe that line and you’ll be fine. – As long as politicians stick to that false narrative, they know they won’t be savaged by the press.  And so, the usual fake Republicans like John McCain and Mitt Romney do their virtue signaling by issuing tweets like Romney’s from last night, which reads “No, not the same. One side is racist, bigoted, Nazi. The other opposes racism and bigotry. Morally different universes.”  So, he’ll be fine, in keeping with his hopes of challenging President Trump in 2020, and winnning the GOP nomination so he can hand another presidency to the Democrat candidate on a silver platter, as he did for a very beatable Barack Obama in 2012.  That’s Mitt Romney’s role in life.
  • But here’s the thing:  Everybody involved knows the narrative is false.  Everyone involved – Republicans, Democrats and the fake journalists – knows that those Antifa and Black Lives Matter racist, violent thugs were bused into the city by groups funded by George Soros.  Everyone involved knows they showed up specifically to turn what had to that point been a violence-free protest into a riot.  Everyone involved knows they came armed with baseball bats, pepper spray, rocks, bags of urine and other weapons with which to assault both the right-wing bigots and the police.  Everyone involved knows that that’s exactly what they did.  It’s undeniable.  It’s all on video, captured forever for anyone who wants to view it.
  • For Donald Trump, his choice was to follow the advice of his talking points monkeys and toe the media/Democrat narrative in an attempt to avoid being attacked, or follow his instincts and be honest about the situation:  That both sides were violent, that both sides were guilty, that thuggery and racism and bigotry emanated from both sides in Charlottesville on Saturday.  He even tried to toe the media/Democrat narrative line, reading a very strong statement on Monday, and was savaged by the media anyway.  That taught him a lesson, and that lesson is that there’s no reason to throw the fake news media those bones – they’re going to attack him regardless of what he says.  So, on Tuesday, he decided to simply go with his instincts, and fight back.
  • So he told the truth:  There is plenty of blame to go around. There was bigotry on both sides.  There was violence on both sides.  The leftist protesters did not have a proper permit, the right-wingers, as repugnant as their views are, did have a proper permit.  The same Antifa and BLM thugs who have committed violence and staged riots in dozens of other Democrat-run cities around the country since January showed up en masse in Charlottesville and almost immediately assaulted the right-wingers.  It was after all of that had taken place that the Nazi scumbag rammed his car into a group of the leftwingers, tragically killing one woman.  That’s the truth, it’s how it happened, it’s all captured on video.
  • The fake news media basically asks you “Hey, who you gonna believe?  Us, or your lyin’ eyes?”  This is not a hard choice for any well-intentioned, thinking person.  Sadly, such people are incredibly rare on the left side of the political spectrum these days.
  • American voters do have a choice:  We can have a President who is going to do his best to deal with the reality of situations such as Charlottesville, or we can, in 2020, go back to previous form and elect yet another timid politician who is happy to parrot scripts written for him by talking points monkeys that carefully conform to whatever false narrative the media/Democrat ministry of disinformation is putting out on any given day.
  • We have to remember that Donald Trump won the 2016 election precisely because he is NOT like our last four globalist, talking points-reading presidents in any way. The media hates it, the Democrats hate it even more, and the squish Republicans like McCain and Romney and Lindsey Graham may hate it most of all.  And that’s why he won: because most Americans detest all of those three segments of our nation’s ruling class.
  • President Trump was right to go with his instincts on Tuesday, and right to tell the full truth about what happened in Charlottesville.  Fake media firestorms come and go, but the truth persists.

Just another day in fake news media America.

That is all.

I’m Much Too Young To Feel This Damn Old

Here are some things I’m old enough to remember:

  • I’m old enough to remember when, three weeks ago, the Democrats plagiarized PapaJohn’s Pizza with a new slogan promising they were going to focus on “Better Jobs, Better Wages”, instead of dividing America.

  • I’m old enough to remember 7 days ago when Senator From The News Media John McCain lambasted President Trump for his aggressive posture towards the Crazy Little Fat Guy in North Korea, saying it wouldn’t work.
  • I’m old enough to remember all the way back to January, when Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signor declared his city to be the “Capital of the ‘Resistance’ “.
  • I’m old enough to remember when it was the communists in the Soviet Union and radical muslims in Afghanistan who were going about toppling statues and trying to erase history, rather than the Democrats here in the U.S.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the global temperature records kept by NOAA hadn’t been falsified for political purposes.
  • I’m old enough to remember when radicals on the Berkeley campus were peacefully demonstrating in favor of free speech, not violently rioting to restrict it.
  • I’m old enough to remember when senators of both parties rallied around the president of the United States whenever some nutjob dictator threatened to bomb our homeland, and when those who didn’t do so were criticized rather than praised by the news media.
  • Speaking of the news media, I’m old enough to remember when it was only partially fake.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Barack Obama said “We can’t drill our way to lower gasoline prices.”  Oops.
  • I’m old enough to remember when The National Review was a conservative journal, and The Weekly Standard wasn’t edited by Hillary Clinton shills like Stephen Hayes and Bill Kristol.

  • I’m old enough to remember when the panels on Fox News’s “Special Report” were balanced, unlike the utter disgrace they aired Monday evening.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the Republican Party actually stood for something.

  • Hell, I’m so old I remember 1995, when the GOP had real leadership in both houses of congress.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Hollywood turned out watchable movies – you know, the kind with plots and acting and stuff like that.
  • I’m old enough to remember when I wasn’t a fanatic about Dallas Cowboys Football.  Ok, that’s a lie – I’ve always been a fanatic about Dallas Cowboys Football.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Nancy Pelosi wasn’t a doddering, babbling fool.  Ok, that’s a lie, too.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Maxine Waters lived in her own congressional district.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the Federal Bureau of Investigation was a functioning, respected law enforcement agency, i.e., the pre-James Comey years.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Obamacare didn’t exist and most Americans really did have affordable healthcare insurance.
  • I’m old enough to remember those seven years when every Republican in Washington (except for Sen. Susan Collins, who is really a Democrat) promised they were going to repeal Obamacare.
  • I’m old enough to remember when we all thought John McCain was a genuine American hero.  No really, virtually all of us did.  Silly us.
  • Finally, I’m old enough to remember when both major political parties respected the constitution, the American flag, and the national anthem.  Sadly, the Democrats no longer respect any of those things, and it’s hard to be sure whether many Republicans do anymore.

I’m much too young to feel this damn old.

Kim Backs Down – U.S. Diplomacy Wins For Once

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Well, maybe the Crazy Little Fat Guy in North Korea isn’t quite so crazy after all. –  Shortly after Defense Secretary General James Mattis warned that the firing of North Korean missiles in the direction of any U.S. state or territory  would be an act of war and treated by the U.S. with an overwhelming response, the Crazy Little Fat Guy appears, at least for now, to have backed down.  In a silly-worded statement, the Crazy Little Fat Guy stated that he has decided not to launch the threatened four nuclear-armed missiles at Guam, a U.S. territory, saying he would “wait a little longer.”  Mr. Crazy went on to say that “If the Yankees persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions on the Korean Peninsula and in its vicinity, testing the self-restraint of the DPRK, the [North] will make an important decision as it already declared.”  Ok, whatevs, dude.
  • Sorry, Chubby, we’re all out of unleaded. – Another big motivating factor influencing this decision was obviously the action earlier in the day by China to cut off most trade with North Korea, including oil exports to the little dictatorship.  Not even the Crazy Little Fat Guy is crazy enough to think he can run his military machine without fuel.  No oil, no war.  This is a really simple equation.
  • CNN’s gonna need some new talking points. – China’s move represents a big win for U.S. diplomacy, led by President Trump, Sec. of State Rex Tillerson, and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.  The move by China was its effort to comply with sanctions approved late last week by the U.N. Security Council, a proposal that was driven by the U.S. government.  It took months of focused diplomacy and arm-twisting – and even a few threats – with China and Russia to finally achieve the unanimous vote required to enact such international trade sanctions.  This, of course, does not fit the U.S. media’s narrative that the Trump Administration doesn’t do diplomacy, and so credit must go elsewhere in our fake media environment.
  • Wait, is the FBI becoming a functioning agency again? – In what was treated as a minor news story as the fake news media obsessed over Charlottesville, the FBI announced it had, for once, stopped a planned terrorist attack.  The agency arrested some dude named Jerry Varnell, who was planning to detonate a 1,000 lb. bomb in an effort to blow up the Federal Reserve Building in OKC.  No, really, after the Obama years, during which we would have a terrorist kill a bunch of people followed by news that the terrorist had been under surveillance by the FBI for years without the agency taking any action, the FBI actually arrested a terrorist before he could kill anyone!  Fantastic!
  • Hope springs eternal, maybe. – Of course, Mr. Varnell is a white guy who was threatening to blow up federal government property, while all the terrorists who committed acts in recent years while under FBI surveillance were Muslims who planned to just kill private citizens on private property.  It’s a sad thing, but I can’t help wondering if those factors have something to do with the FBI’s ability – or even willingness – to intervene with known terrorists before they kill people.  Hopefully, this arrest is just a sign that things really are changing within the Justice Department and FBI, both of which had been hopelessly corrupted during the Obama years.
  • Those Fightin’ Texas Aggies won’t be fightin’ this battle. – Speaking of Charlottesville and white nationalist demonstrations, the administration at Texas A&M University cancelled plans to allow what was being called a “White Lives Matter” demonstration on its campus in September, citing safety concerns.  “Alt-Right” icon Richard Spencer was scheduled to come to the campus on September 11 to lead the rally.  This move will of course be decried as suppression of free speech by Texas A&M – which, let’s admit it, it is – but, as long as the University also moves to cancel any planned rallies by violent leftwing George Soros groups like Black Lives Matter and Antifa, I really have no problem with this decision.  Free speech is a wonderful thing, and any person should be free to say and believe whatever repugnant things they want to believe and say.  But that doesn’t necessarily give anyone an unfettered right to stage any kind of rally they want to stage, and force universities to spend thousands of dollars on security to prevent violence from breaking out.  It just doesn’t.
  • And then he shouted “Hullabaloo, Caneck, Caneck!”*** – Incidentally, the best part of this whole episode was the statement from A&M Student Body President Bobby Brooks, who supported the University’s decision in classic Aggie fashion:  “Students have come from a multitude of backgrounds and sacrificed many things to attend Texas A&M, and they have the right to go to classes without fearing for their safety.  White supremacy and the violence that has accompanied it are most certainly ‘Bad Bull.'” **  Hilarious.

Just another day in ‘Bad Bull’ America.

That is all.

**  From Wikipedia: ‘Bad Bull’ means anything not in keeping with Aggie traditions or the Aggie spirit.

***From Wikipedia:  Beginning phrase of the Aggie War Hymn.  The lyrics are an onomatopoeic representation of the sound a cannon being loaded, or also the sound of a train rolling through town since there is a train track that splits the campus.

Exactly Whose Civil Rights Were Violated In Charlottesville?

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • The Justice Department announced late Saturday that it was sending in the feds to conduct an investigation into potential civil rights violations amid all the violence that took place in Charlottesville, earlier that day.  The big question is, whose civil rights were violated?  Let’s review the events of the day:
    • You had a properly permitted demonstration by a bunch of white supremacist dimwits that took place without violence;
    • Until, that is, those dimwits were set upon by a bunch of Antifa and Black Lives Matters agitators who were not properly permitted;
    • Violent clashes took place when law enforcement officials were reportedly ordered by Democrat officeholders not to try to prevent them, exactly as happened earlier in the year in Berkeley;
    • After the white supremacist dimwits had been dispersed, one of them decided to commit murder by driving his car into a pack of the leftist agitators, most of whom were white;
    • The one leftist killed by the idiot was also white.
  • So, whose civil rights were violated in Charlottesville on Saturday?  As detestable as they are, the white supremacists did have a legal permit for their repugnant demonstrations.  Violence only broke out when they were set upon by an obviously orchestrated, non-permitted group of leftist thugs.  The murderer made no racial distinction about who he attempted to kill, and killed only a fellow white person.
  • If the Justice Department investigators want to properly do their jobs, they might want to start by investigating the leftwing political activist Mayor of Charlottesville and VA Governor Terry McAuliffe, and determine which of them ordered the police to stand down and allow the non-permitted leftwing agitators to assault the white supremacists.  It is, after all, a felony for any official to knowingly make a decision that causes any protesters to be violently assaulted while in the exercise of their first amendment rights.  The investigators might also want to determine which Soros-funded leftist group it was that organized and paid those leftist agitators to be there on Saturday.  Other than those things, it’s really hard to see, based on the information in the public domain thus far, what other “civil rights” violations might have taken place in Charlottesville on Saturday.
  • Carrying tiki torches and nazi flags, and chanting idiotic white power slogans is detestable for sure.  It is also free speech protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution, and it is a federal crime to violently interfere with anyone’s right to exercise free speech.
  • I will no doubt be attacked and accuse of all sorts of false things for writing this, but if we aren’t willing to stand up for the protection of free speech and peaceful assembly in this country, then we soon won’t have a country.
  • The Mooch turns media moocher. – The Mooch is back, and he’s cashing in, folks, obviously trying to take full advantage of his 15 minutes – make that 10 days – of fame, and the fake news media is perfectly willing to play host to the comeback, as long as he’s critical of only the ‘right’ people.  Those people, of course, include White House Chief Strategy Advisor, Steve Bannon, but do not include National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster or any of the career Obama loyalists who still infest the White House staff.
  • During his interview with fake anchor and longtime Clinton toady George Stephanopolous, The Mooch identified only one senior advisor by name as being a negative influence on the President, and that was Bannon, who has been the main White House target of the fake news media since Inauguration Day.  The Mooch identified Bannon as a likely source of many of the leaks that have come out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. since January – which is a very common assumption, and not really news at all – and predicted that he’d be removed by new Chief of Staff John Kelly soon.
  • As long as The Mooch toes this party line, and doesn’t criticize McMaster or any of the media’s sacred cows in the White House, he’ll be a golden boy, and we’ll be seeing a ton of him on network TV in the coming weeks and months.  After all, with Senator From The News Media John McCain out of action, there is a ton of fake Republican air time to be filled, and the networks and CNN can only go to the Lindsey Graham well so many times.   The Mooch’s next stop, in fact, is tonight on CBS’s The Late Show, where he will be interviewed by Trump-hater Stephen Colbert.  If he gives Colbert enough red meat about Bannon, he’ll be on MSNBC with Chris Matthews by Wednesday.
  • Pretty soon, we’ll have to start calling him The Media Mooch.  It’s a great gig if you’re willing to sell yourself out, and with a nickname like The Mooch, can there really be any doubt on that score?

Just another day in fading free speech America

That is all.

The Fake News Media Created Charlottesville, and Will Create More in the Future

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • What happened in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday should surprise no one.  This was an inevitable outcome of this country’s lack of anything resembling an independent national news media.  If anything, it’s surprising it took this long for such a tragedy to happen.
  • For two years now, leftist agitators funded by George Soros-supported groups have been violently assaulting supporters of Donald Trump without a single word of objection or condemnation from any leader of the Democratic Party.  Not a word.  Worse, none of these “leaders” have been asked by anyone with any major national news outlet why they stand silently by as supporters of their political party engage in increasingly vile and violent protest actions.  Not a single Democrat politician has been questioned by any “journalist” why they not only refuse to condemn such actions, but tacitly endorse them by proclaiming themselves to be participants in the “resistance”.  Not a single “journalist” has asked any Democrat why they refuse to even condemn the rise of a neo-fascist group that calls itself “Antifa”, and which pays masked thugs to burn buildings, attack law enforcement officers and beat up anyone who disagrees with them.
  • Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe is one of those Democrat “leaders” who has proclaimed himself to be a part of the resistance.  It should surprise no one that, armed with the knowledge that a bunch of ignorant redneck White Supremacist dimwits were coming to one of his state’s cities to stage a rally, McAuliffe looked the other way as the Soros groups bused in hundreds of paid Antifa and Black Lives Matter (also Soros funded) counter-protesters into the city.
  • Guess what?  Violence ensued.  Lots of violence, as the police – no doubt on orders from Democrat politicians – made little effort to keep the violent leftist agitators separated from the ignorant redneck White Supremacists.  People were beaten with fists.  People were beaten with bats.  People were sprayed with pepper spray.  Police were assaulted, mainly by the Soros people (no surprise there).
  • Then, once all the rednecks had finished with their “White Supremacistin’ ” – presumably because their tiki torches had burned out and their wife beater shirts had begun to reek – and dispersed, some idiot from Ohio decided to drive his Dodge Challenger into a group of counter-protesters, killing one and sending 19 more to the hospital.
  • We will hear much talk in the news media in the coming days about the background of this guy, whose names is James Alex Fields, Jr.  We’ll see every fake journalist at CNN and MSNBC and the broadcast networks do everything they can to tie him around the neck of President Trump, and Republicans in general, something they have steadfastly refused to do with the Democrats and their Antifa and Black Lives Matter troops.
  • What we won’t hear much about is the fact that, as abhorrent as they are, the redneck dimwits had a valid permit to stage their rallies.  It’s sad, but it is a reality in our free society that clown shows like these people get to stage peaceful rallies if properly permitted.  That’s what the first amendment guarantees.  When properly managed by local officials and law enforcement, there is no reason for anyone to get hurt.
  • We also won’t hear that the Antifa and Black Lives Matters protesters had no such permit.  We won’t see much, if any analysis of who it is that paid those counter-protesters to show up, who paid for the buses they arrived in.  We won’t see much, if any analysis of the fact that the mayor of Charlottesville is himself a self-described “Democratic Activist” who was educated at…wait for it…Berkeley, whose campus was the scene of an Antifa-fed riot early this year.  We won’t see anyone in the mainstream news media point out the reality that all of the violence that took place on Saturday could have been easily avoided had the Democratic public officials in charge of the situation done their jobs rather than actively encouraging the confrontations.
  • It is because of the things we won’t see the media do in the wake of this tragedy – because we do not have a functioning, independent news media in this country that works to hold favored public officials accountable in any real sense – that we will see more and more Charlottesvilles repeated in other Democrat-run cities and states in the coming years

Just another reason to be thankful that Democrats only control 15 governor’s offices these days.

That is all.

It’s Almost Football Season, Thank God

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • I’m a huge football fan – the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns are my fall passions – so this is the time of year I start to get really excited about the coming season.  The off-season for football is much longer than for other sports, making the pent up energy to be released on opening day almost unbearable by the time August rolls around.
  • Unfortunately, the Cowboys got some bad news from the NFL on Friday, as star running back Zeke Elliott was suspended for six games over an allegation that he punched a young woman last year.  This decision is bizarre, and at least on the record presented publicly, completely without merit.  Don’t get me wrong:  If Elliott did punch this woman, then he needs to be punished, and punished hard.  The problem is, the NFL has literally nothing but her word for it, while Elliott had several witnesses corroborating all or part of his own version of things.
  • I listened to the NFL’s lawyer explain his reasoning for the decision at the league’s press conference , and it basically came down to “well, Elliott’s lawyers didn’t give us a strong alternate narrative, so we just assumed the girl was telling the truth.”  So in other words, Elliott was assumed to be guilty because he couldn’t prove he was innocent. I have a real problem with that reasoning, and come to think of it, so does the Constitution of the United States.
  • Elliott’s representatives immediately announced they would appeal the suspension.  It’s a good bet it will be significantly reduced, though not eliminated entirely.  Roger Goodell must save face, after all.
  • Outrage among the country’s social justice warrior community continues over the fact that no NFL team has chosen to saddle itself with Colin Kaepernick and his traveling media circus as its backup quarterback.  I say ‘backup’ because Kaepernick has conclusively and consistently demonstrated he is not fit to be a starter in the league.  One writer at the Washington Post hilariously reasoned that “If Kaepernick were Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, Dak Prescott or any of the other star quarterbacks in the league, he’d have a job.”  Well, yeah, he would, because if he were Tom Brady, Matt Ryan or Dak Prescott, he’d be a good quarterback.  Did that really need to be pointed out?  Holy cow.
  • The NFL’s 32 team owners are being accused of being racists, cowards and all sorts of other idiotic things, but seriously, why would any franchise want to saddle itself with a mediocre football player who makes a spectacle of himself for purely personal reasons every Sunday on the sidelines?  Teams have enough actual football problems to worry about each week without voluntarily taking on the media circus that invariably rushes to Kaepernick wherever he goes.
  • And guess what else?  Once Kaepernick gives up on sucking more money from an NFL franchise and tries to latch on in Canadian football, no team up there is going to hire him, either.  What this all comes down to is not ‘racism’ or ‘cowardice’ or ‘collusion’, it comes down to the fact that the guy has chosen to saddle himself with all this baggage, and he’s not a good enough football player for any team to justify taking that on.
  • But enough about the sideshows – the Cowboys kick off this evening at 8:00.  Yeah, it’s just a pre-season game, but it’s football, dammit, and that’s enough for me.

Just another day in shut up and play ball America.

That is all.

Kurt Schlichter’s Hollywood Doom Prophecy Is Already Taking Place

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Kurt Schlichter, who has become the most provocative and frankly most enjoyable conservative opinion writer working today, penned a piece on Thursday titled “Politically Correct Hollywood Is Doomed.”  In the piece, he hilariously imagines the release of a series of films with politically correct themes and titles like Xe-Day, and Dirty Harriet, in coming years, all of which would miserably fail at the box office.  It’s highly recommended reading – it will be five minutes well-invested, trust me.
  • Turns out, though, that we don’t need Mr. Schlichter to make up imaginary films that fail miserably at the box office:  As the Wall Street Journal points out this morning, Hollywood is already cranking such duds out at an amazing pace, and theater owners are beginning to panic.  This summer’s box office take was down 5% compared to 2016, which wasn’t much of a year to brag about, either.
  • Of the season’s projected blockbuster action flicks – which included the execrable Johnny Depp slouching through yet another rehash of Pirates of the Caribbean, for crying out loud – only Wonder Woman can be termed a smashing success, as it grossed over half a billion dollars in the U.S. alone.  But that female super-hero flick was more than offset by tankers like King Arthur: Clash of Swords (grossed just $39 million on a budget of $175 million) and a horrific remake of The Mummy (grossed just $69 million in the U.S. on a budget of $345 million), which inexplicably starred Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe.
  • People in Hollywood appear to be mystified as to why their films aren’t making as much money as they used to, but they’re all morons who have no understanding of any American who lives outside of their tiny bubble, so we should expect nothing else from them.  The corporate suits who run the big theater chains appear equally mystified, but again, that thing about morons in bubbles applies.
  • Because of that lack of understanding, we can rest assured that Hollywood will continue cranking out action “blockbusters” that no one really wants to see (Like, we really needed yet another remake of The Mummy?  Who demanded that?), un-funny comedies whose “humor” trends more towards depravity and disgust with each passing year, and “dramas” that have no relevance to the lives of any American who does not live in Hollywood or New York City.  Meanwhile, Hollywood’s real, most obvious problem will go un-addressed.
  • What is that obvious problem, you ask?  Ok, guess it’s not that obvious after all.  Look, the film industry’s most obvious problem is that its major stars can’t keep their silly, dim-witted mouths shut on issues of politics and morality.  No American who lives in the 95% of the country outside of Hollywood and Manhattan needs to be lectured about politics by the likes of Meryl Streep.  No one out here in flyover country has any desire to take morality advice from Lena Dunham or the mentally deranged Ashley Judd.  We neither want nor need nitwits like Will Ferrell or Matt Damon lecturing us on the presidential or congressional races, nor do we desire advice on environmental matters from the likes Leonardo DiCaprio, who has a carbon footprint roughly equal to that of Rome, Italy.
  • The constant drumbeat of leftist political claptrap coming out of Hollywood amounts to a withering, unending assault on the sensibilities of half of the American population, perhaps more.  You want to know why the Academy Awards ceremony this year had the second-lowest ratings in the program’s history?  This is why.  You want to know why nobody wants to see Russell Crowe or Tom Cruise in The Mummy?  This is a big reason why.  You want to know why the ratings for the late night talk shows are a fraction of what they were 30 years ago?  This is why.
  • The average American wants movie stars to shut up and act, singers to shut up and sing, directors to shut up and direct, script writers to shut up and write, and producers to shut up and produce.  But of course, Hollywood is made up almost entirely of desperate, grasping attention-seekers, so that’s never going to happen.
  • The inevitable result will be a complete revamping of the Hollywood film industry model in coming years, as the industry continues to become less profitable.  A decade from now, all the big box theater chains will be out of business, most if not all films will be immediately available on pay-per-view, and the industry will bear little resemblance to what exists today.
  • We don’t need Kurt Schlichter to imagine all of that for us, because it is happening right before our very eyes.

Just another day in Shut Up And Act America.

That is all.
