Today’s Required Reading: How Long Will the Media Cover for Andrew Cuomo?

Andrew Cuomo’s carefully-crafted world continues to fall apart. – Today’s Required Reading comes from former staffer for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Lindsey Boylan. Ms. Boylan spent years working for Cuomo, and tells a story of a workplace environment characterized by constant bullying and sexual harassment coming from the Governor and his male staff.

It is a putrid story that is all too typical in the corporate and political world: One in which a powerful man engages in the most reprehensible behavior imaginable but intimidates people whose livelihoods depend on his good graces into remaining silent and covering for him. The thing about this particular situation is that Cuomo’s bullying style has been common public knowledge for years, yet his pals in the corrupt news media have spent all of that time running cover for him, just as they spent years running cover for creeps like Matt Lauer and Harvey Weinstein because they all shared the same politics.

Ms. Boylan first went public with her accusations way back in December but few people knew about it since Cuomo’s toadies in the media essentially spiked the story. Today, she has a long and detailed expose’ published at Medium.com, and I wanted to do what little I can to ensure the story gets the maximum distribution possible. I urge you all to read the story and share it among your social media accounts, because the behavior described by Ms. Boylan is that of a real monster.

Here are some excerpts to whet your appetite:

“Let’s play strip poker.”

I should have been shocked by the Governor’s crude comment, but I wasn’t.

We were flying home from an October 2017 event in Western New York on his taxpayer-funded jet. He was seated facing me, so close our knees almost touched. His press aide was to my right and a state trooper behind us.

“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” I responded sarcastically and awkwardly. I tried to play it cool. But in that moment, I realized just how acquiescent I had become.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a culture within his administration where sexual harassment and bullying is so pervasive that it is not only condoned but expected. His inappropriate behavior toward women was an affirmation that he liked you, that you must be doing something right. He used intimidation to silence his critics. And if you dared to speak up, you would face consequences.

That’s why I panicked on the morning of December 13.

While enjoying a weekend with my husband and six-year-old daughter, I spontaneously decided to share a small part of the truth I had hidden for so long in shame and never planned to disclose. The night before, a former Cuomo staffer confided to me that she, too, had been the subject of the Governor’s workplace harassment. Her story mirrored my own. Seeing his name floated as a potential candidate for U.S. Attorney General — the highest law enforcement official in the land — set me off.

In a few tweets, I told the world what a few close friends, family members and my therapist had known for years: Andrew Cuomo abused his power as Governor to sexually harass me, just as he had done with so many other women.

As messages from journalists buzzed on my phone, I laid in bed unable to move. I finally had decided to speak up, but at what cost?

Parts of a supposed confidential personnel file (which I’ve never seen) were leaked to the media in an effort to smear me. The Governor’s loyalists called around town, asking about me.

Last week, Assemblymember Ron Kim spoke out publicly about the intimidation and abuse he has faced from Governor Cuomo and his aides. As Mayor de Blasio remarked, “the bullying is nothing new.” There are many more of us, but most are too afraid to speak up.

I’m compelled to tell my story because no woman should feel forced to hide their experiences of workplace intimidation, harassment and humiliation — not by the Governor or anyone else.

I expect the Governor and his top aides will attempt to further disparage me, just as they’ve done with Assemblymember Kim. They’d lose their jobs if they didn’t protect him. That’s how his administration works. I know because I was a part of it.

The Governor’s behavior made me nervous, but I didn’t truly fear him until December 2016. Senior State employees gathered at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany to celebrate the holidays and our year’s work. After his remarks, the Governor spotted me in a room filled with hundreds of people waiting to shake his hand. As he began to approach me, I excused myself from coworkers and moved upstairs to a more distant area of the party.

Minutes later, I received a call from an unlisted number. It was the Governor’s body person. He told me to come to the Capitol because the Governor wanted to see me.

I made my way through the underground connection that linked the Plaza to the Capitol. As the black wrought-iron elevator took me to the second floor, I called my husband. I told him I was afraid of what might happen. That was unlike me. I was never afraid.

I exited the elevator to see the body person waiting for me. He walked me down the Hall of Governors. “Are there cameras here?” I asked him. I remembered my mother’s text warning the month before. I worried that I would be left alone with the Governor. I didn’t know why I was there. Or how it would end.

I was escorted into the Governor’s office, past the desks of administrative assistants and into a room with a large table and historical artifacts. The door closed behind me. It was my first time in his Albany office. The Governor entered the room from another door. We were alone.

As he showed me around, I tried to maintain my distance. He paused at one point and smirked as he showed off a cigar box. He told me that President Clinton had given it to him while he served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. The two-decade old reference to President Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky was not lost on me.

Wednesday News Roundup: Beto O’Rourke Eyes a Comeback and Anthony Fauci Lacks Self-Awareness

What is this – a scene from the Walking Dead?

That’s your ruling class, folks, holding candles while huddled safe behind their Capitol wall, with thousands of National Guard troops there to protect them.

By the way, more than 100,000 of those 500,000 Americans died in just the first month of the Biden presidency. IN ONE MONTH. But hey, Mitch and his fellow RINOs are out holding candles with their Democrat buddies, so we got that going for us. Holy crap.

Speaking of Mitch McConnell and the RINO herd… – They’re all doing what RINOs always do in a new Democrat administration, and voting to confirm China Joe’s appointees as if they’re qualified or something. Yesterday Mitch announced he was planning to vote to confirm Merrick Garland, an Attorney General nominee who admits that he hasn’t even thought about whether or not illegal crossings of U.S. borders are in fact crimes.

This man has sat on the federal bench for decades now, yet he insults the intelligence of every American by claiming he hasn’t even thought about one of the most pressing issues of our time and Cocaine Mitch and the RINO herd that follows him around the walled-in Capitol Building are just going to snap their fingers and vote to confirm him.

Four years ago, none of President Trump’s nominees received more than a few Democrat votes for confirmation. But Mitch and his RINO herd learned nothing from that experience. As always, there’s a war going on in Washington, DC, and the Democrats are the only ones fighting it.

Godspeed, Tiger Woods. – We all have opinions about Tiger Woods. I was an enormous fan until about 2009, when evidence came to light that he most likely had taken steroids to advance his career. But he has made an admirable comeback in recent years from knee and back issues that culminated in a win at The Masters.

The leg injuries he suffered in yesterday’s car accident will be hard for a 45 year-old man to overcome. A golf swing like Tiger’s places tremendous stress on the back and legs, so his future appears to be murky at best. He will obviously receive the best medical care possible, and all golfing fans can do is hope and pray for the best.

The Most Inevitable Story of the Week, from Politico. – Sigh. This story is so predictable that it’s a wonder it took this long for the Democrat toady media to get it out. Texas Republicans are taking a drubbing in the wake of last week’s winter weather disaster, because hey, they’ve been in charge of all aspects of Texas government for 27 years now. So, who else are Texans going to blame for the massive, epic failure of ERCOT and other Texas officials to ensure the heat and lights stay on when it’s 5 degrees outside?

Thus, the first thought of any leftwing fake reporter at Politico was bound to be “oh joy, does this mean we get our Beto back?”, and right on cue, the story appears:

Here’s an excerpt from the media’s latest Beto booster piece:

While Ted Cruz was getting clobbered for fleeing Texas amid its historic winter storm, the Democrat he defeated in 2018, Beto O’Rourke, was already deep into disaster relief mode — soliciting donations for storm victims, delivering pallets of water from his pickup truck and once again broadcasting his movements on Facebook Live.

It was part of an effort orchestrated by O’Rourke and his organization, Powered by People, in response to the crisis. It was also, to Texas Democrats, a sign that O’Rourke the politician is back.

The former congressman and onetime Democratic sensation acknowledgedlast month that he’s considering running for governor in 2022,and he has discussedthe possibility with Democratic Party officials and other associates. The drubbing that Texas Republicans are taking in the wake of the deadly storm may provide him with an opening — even in his heavily Republican state.

“After all of Texas freezes over because of poor leadership, I think it’s a different state of Texas than it was two weeks ago,” said Mikal Watts, a San Antonio-based lawyer and major Democratic money bundler.

If O’Rourke runs for governor, Watts said, “I think he could catch fire.”

[End]

I laughed out loud at that last line, since that’s exactly what every Democrat in Texas and Washington, DC said about “Abortion Barbie” Wendy Davis when she challenged Greg Abbott in the governor’s race in 2014. She ended up getting slaughtered by 21 percent of the vote.

Is Irish Bob, our favorite fake Hispanic, likely to challenge Abbott next year? Yeah, probably, although it’s a long way between now and November 2022. After all, the pampered child of millionaires who is married to the daughter of a billionaire doesn’t know how to do any honest work, so politics is the only option to get him out of the damn house.

And hey, Irish Bob has already clearly demonstrated that no one in Texas can pull in millions of Hollywood and New York dollars for a political race like he can. The Democrats are always desperate to find someone willing to be their sacrificial lamb for the governor’s race every four years – who can forget Lupe Valdez, Bill White or Chris Bell? – so having their media darling already teed up to go presents the party with a rare bird in the hand.

So jump on in, Irish Bob, the water’s fine.

This week’s Utter Lack of Self-Awareness Award goes to… – The little Menace to Society, Anthony Fauci, who told an interviewer this week that the United States has “done worse than most any other country” in its response to COVID-19:

Here’s an excerpt from that New York Post story:

Dr. Anthony Fauci says the US has “done worse than most any other country” in battling COVID-19.

With the country’s current 500,000-plus deaths nearly double the figure of Brazil, the nation with the next highest number of mortalities, Fauci told ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America” Monday, “It’s so tough to just go back and try and do a metaphorical autopsy on how things went. It was just bad.

“I believe that if you look back historically, we’ve done worse than most any other country — and we’re a highly developed, rich country,” the nation’s top infectious-disease doctor said.

“I think these numbers are just so stunning,” said the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said, the day the US passed the half-million-deaths mark.

“Remember back in the late winter, early spring, of 2020 when we were saying we could get as high as 240,000 [fatalities], and people were thinking we were being hyperbolic about it — and here we are with a half-million deaths.”

[End]

Ok, so, anybody out there see what the Little Menace seems to be missing here?

Who has without question been the leader of our country’s “strategy” in dealing with the viral gift from China? Who has been out in the media damn near every day urging Democrat governors to lockdown businesses, coop people up in their homes and wear masks despite there being not a shred of science or actual data indicating any of those approaches has the slightest positive impact on the spread of this virus? Who has been contradicting himself, constantly moving the goal posts and confusing the entire country in media appearances day after day after day?

Isn’t the correct answer to all of those questions and so many more “Anthony Fauci”?????

Seriously, how does this Little Menace still have a job? The damage he has done to our society over the last 12 months is simply incalculable. He has arguably done more harm to our society than any figure in history, yet you can be sure that he will be appearing on CNN or MSNBC again today, confusing the situation even more than he already has done.

Relying on this little totalitarian despot is the very worst mistake Donald Trump ever made. We will be paying for that decision for many years to come.

That is all.

1/3rd of ERCOT Board Resigns: Just 2/3rds More To Go

Throughout the cold blast of last week, much news was made about the fact that three of the key members of the board of the Electric (non) Reliability Council of Texas weren’t even from Texas. In fact, it turned out the chairman lives in Michigan, the vice-chair also lives out of state, along with one other member of the 15-member board.

Well, guess what? Those news reports actually understated the out-of-state issue with this board. Turns out that there were no fewer than five non-Texans running Texas’s power grid. Happily, each and every one one of them resigned yesterday, along with a sixth non-Texan who was scheduled to move onto the board in the coming weeks:

Five members of the board of directors at the entity that operates Texas’ electrical grid will resign from their posts on Wednesday, according to a notice posted to the Public Utility Commission website.

Board Chairwoman Sally Talberg, Vice Chairman Peter Cramton, and members Terry Bulger, Raymond Hepper and Vanessa Anesetti-Parra will all resign from their posts on Wednesday, during the next meeting of the board of directors of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT.

ERCOT has come under fire for its handling of widespread blackouts that left millions of Texans without power and water as the state faced subfreezing temperatures, snow and ice.

None of the five members resigning from their posts live in Texas.

“Our hearts go out to all Texans who have had to go without electricity, heat, and water during frigid temperatures and continue to face the tragic consequences of this emergency,” the letter reads. “We have noted recent concerns about out-of-state board leadership at ERCOT. To allow state leaders a free hand with future direction and to eliminate distractions, we are resigning from the board.”

Craig Ivey, who was set to fill a vacant position on the board, said in a separate letter that he was withdrawing his candidacy “in order to avoid becoming a distraction” due to his out-of-state residency.

[End]

Look, I love non-Texans, so don’t get me wrong here. But ERCOT is a quasi-government entity – technically a 501(c)(4) non-profit – that runs the grid that supplies 80% of the state with power. It reports directly to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC). In a state with 28 million residents, it seems to most of us here in Texas that we ought to be able to find 15 actual Texans who know how to manage a power grid.

I mean, we don’t elect Michiganders to our state legislature, or Marylanders to serve as our governor, do we? The governor can’t appoint Californians or Alabamans to serve on our PUC, can he? We don’t have a Louisianan as our attorney general, even though that might end up being tons of fun and all manner of shenanigans.

At the end of the day, my one and only problem with these five folks leaving the board – from which they were likely to be fired, anyway – is that the number is not 15.

My suspicion is that, like any other semi-accountable board of this type, ERCOT’s board has become a big social club, a cushy assignment with a huge paycheck that none of its members take too seriously. I honestly can find no other explanation for the fact that, when this board met on February 9, as the first of 3 arctic fronts was already pouring into the state, it spent just 45 seconds (that’s not a typo) of a 2-hour meeting discussing preparation measures for what they already knew at that point would ultimately become a major winter weather event.

The fact that not one of the 15 members had a single question or concern about preparedness for such a major event that they wanted to raise in that meeting tells me that there are no serious people currently serving on that board.

So, 5 down and just 10 more to go. If they won’t voluntarily resign, then the PUC and Governor Abbott needs to resign them. In fact, after the clownshow Texans suffered through last week – with more than 70 human beings ending up dead – the entire organization needs to be demolished down to the studs and reconstituted. Only a bold move such as that will give Texans any comfort that we won’t just be living through a replay of last week again sometime in the near future.

Are you listening, Governor Abbott?

That is all.

Today’s Required Reading: Eyewitness to Provocateurs at the January 6 Capitol Riot

There has never been any real question to anyone paying attention that the January 6 riot at the Capitol Building in Washington, DC had all the hallmarks of a false flag operation that had been planned and prepared well in advance. Indeed, over the 7 weeks that have passed since the riot took place, more and more proof of that reality has come to light despite the best efforts of the Democrats and their toadies in the news media to ignore it.

At TheFederalist.com today, one eyewitness to the event, J. Michael Waller, a senior analyst for strategy at the Center for Security Policy, has published a long piece detailing his real-time eyewitness observations of the event. What he has to tell us only serves to confirm the initial impression of a classic false flag operation designed to interrupt congressional objections to the electoral vote tally and prevent any real investigation into the massive election fraud that took place on November 3 from ever taking place. Of course, it has since been used as an excuse to turn the nation’s capital into a permanent police state.

It’s a long, 25-30 minute read, but it is well worth that time investment.

Here are some outtakes from the piece to whet your appetite:

The deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol bore the markings of an organized operation planned well in advance of the Jan. 6 joint session of Congress.

A small number of cadre appeared to use the cover of a huge rally to stage its attack. Before it began, I saw from my vantage point on the West Front of the Capitol what appeared to be four separate cells or units:

  1. Plainclothes militants. Militant, aggressive men in Donald Trump and MAGA gear at a front police line at the base of the temporary presidential inaugural platform;
  2. Agents-provocateurs. Scattered groups of men exhorting the marchers to gather closely and tightly toward the center of the outside of the Capitol building and prevent them from leaving;
  3. Fake Trump protesters. A few young men wearing Trump or MAGA hats backwards and who did not fit in with the rest of the crowd in terms of their actions and demeanor, whom I presumed to be Antifa or other leftist agitators; and
  4. Disciplined, uniformed column of attackers. A column of organized, disciplined men, wearing similar but not identical camouflage uniforms and black gear, some with helmets and GoPro cameras or wearing subdued Punisher skull patches.

All of these cells or groups stood out from the very large crowd by their behavior and overall demeanor. However, they did not all appear at the same time. Not until the very end did it appear there was a prearranged plan to storm the Capitol building, and to manipulate the unsuspecting crowd as cover and as a follow-on force.

Of the thousands of people I passed or who passed me along Constitution Avenue, some were indignant and contemptuous of Congress, but not one appeared angry or incited to riot. Many of the marchers were families with small children; many were elderly, overweight, or just plain tired or frail—traits not typically attributed to the riot-prone.

Some said they were police officers from around the country. Many wore pro-police shirts or carried pro-police “Back the Blue” flags.

Diverse Cross-Section of America

Among the hundreds and hundreds of flags—perhaps thousands—displayed over the next few hours, I saw only two Confederate battle flags and one white supremacist sign, the latter of which some suspected aloud was a leftist plant. The two flags and one sign, I thought, would feature prominently in news reports to present a false image of the crowd.

A large group of African-American men sported shirts that said “Blacks for Trump.” Figuring that journalists would emphasize the solitary racist sign and Confederate flags, deliberately ignoring the rest, I took note of the fact that many demonstrators were black, Asian, and Latino, with a strong presence of Vietnamese- and Chinese-Americans.

Although the crowd represented a broad cross-section of Americans, mostly working-class by their appearance and manner of speech, some people stood out. A very few didn’t share the jovial, friendly, earnest demeanor of the great majority. Some obviously didn’t fit in.

Among them were younger twentysomethings wearing new Trump or MAGA hats, often with the visor in the back, showing no enthusiasm and either looking at the ground, glowering, or holding out their phones with outstretched arms to make videos of as many faces as possible in the crowd.

Some appeared awkward, the way someone’s body language inadvertently shows the world that he feel like he doesn’t fit in. A few seemed to be nursing a deep, churning rage.

They generally covered their faces with cloth masks, as opposed to the pro-Trump people, few of whom wore masks at all. They walked, often hands in pockets, in clusters of perhaps four to six with at least one of them frequently looking behind.

These outliers group looked like trouble. I presumed these fake Trump protesters were Antifa or something similar. However, that entire afternoon I saw none of them act aggressively or cause any problems. At least, not from my vantage point.

[End]

Tuesday News Roundup: The Supreme Court Betrays America and the Constitution in Pennsylvania Decision

Hey, remember how your Democrat friends all told you what a wonderful, fair, cerebral, non-partisan judge Merrick Garland is supposed to be? – Yeah, he’s just another leftwing partisan Democrat who refuses to honestly answer questions in a congressional hearing:

“I don’t know…I don’t know…I don’t know…I don’t know.” He’s the perfect attorney general for this sock puppet presidency.

We are so screwed.

Today’s Short-Term Memory Reminder. – I’m old enough to remember when it was Donald Trump who was supposed to be a totalitarian. But hey, that was always a lie – everyone with functioning synapses in their cranial cavities knows it is the Democrat Party that has always striven to take our country down the road to despotism, and today’s Democrats are no exception to that 200-year rule.

Yesterday, we discovered that congressional Democrats are now trying to bully cable/streaming companies into dropping news networks that they do not approve of. Take a look:

Hilariously, these authoritarian Dems pretend to base their efforts at censorship on “moral or ethical principles”:

Image

It’s absolutely surreal. You could never make this stuff up if it didn’t already exist.

Speaking of authoritarians… – Congressman Ro Khanna served as campaign manager for The Commie, Bernie Sanders, for a very good reason: He’s a commie, too.

You don’t have to believe me – just listen to him talk to some fake journalist on CNN about his desire to put any business that can’t afford to pay a $15 minimum wage out of business:

That’s pure communism. You either redistribute your wealth exactly the way the government demands you do it, or you don’t stay in business. Profits don’t matter; your business’s value to the community doesn’t matter; the fact you’d have to fire half your employees in order to pay that hourly wage doesn’t matter; you either do as your government masters tell you to do or you don’t do business.

And Ro Khanna and Bernie Sanders and 2/3rds of the congressional Democrat caucus will the thrilled to see you and your jobs go. Despicable.

How about this walk down memory lane? – Check this out as China Joe Biden tells David Letterman that he was arrested for going into the U.S. senate chamber and taking over the presiding officer’s seat, just as that nitwit in the viking horns did on January 6:

Now, there’s little doubt Biden’s lying here, given that he lies with the regularity that most people urinate, but man, what a thing to admit to doing. Just another inconvenient little video for the Democrats and their mindless voters.

Right on cue, the Supreme Court betrays the American people one more time. – I warned you all a few weeks ago that the decision by the Supreme Court to schedule a day to consider whether to formally hear three of the Trump election challenges in Pennsylvania, Georgia and Michigan would likely end badly for us and the Constitution.

Many were excited because they labored under the misimpression that the Court had agreed to hear these three cases, but in reality all it was doing was trying to decide whether or not to put any of them on the docket. I also told you that it was almost certain that the Court would refuse to hear the Georgia or Michigan cases, but that it should hear the Pennsylvania case since it so clearly involved a stark constitutional violation in which the state’s courts changed voting rules by judicial fiat. But I also warned you that the justices would find some technical excuse not to hear that case as well.

All of that came to fruition on Monday, as the Court refused to hear any of the three cases:

From the story at National Review:

Few things are worse for public confidence in elections than having the rules changed in the middle of the game (or after it). An epidemic of late-in-the-day changes to the rules was particularly corrosive in 2020. Courts are ill-equipped to referee those changes when partisan tempers are running hot. The Supreme Court just threw away its last opportunity to remedy that problem before the next election cycle.

The Court this morning turned away the remaining challenges to the 2020 election in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, and Michigan. Some of these challenges were legally meritless, and none of them offered any legitimate grounds to change the outcome of the presidential election, but the Pennsylvania case in particular raised a serious, recurring issue of election law: whether state courts or state executive officials can use the general, open-ended terms of state constitutional provisions to throw out specific rules passed by state legislatures governing federal elections. Articles I and II of the Constitution reserve to state legislatures the power to set rules for federal elections.

That’s exactly what happened in Pennsylvania: The Pennsylvania supreme court used the Pennsylvania Constitution’s general guarantees of “free and equal” elections and “free exercise of the right of suffrage” as an excuse to invalidate the state legislature’s explicit deadline for mail-in ballots to be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day — the same time the in-person polls close. That deadline was enacted in 2019 and left untouched in revisions to the mail-in ballot rules during the pandemic in 2020. The Court should have heard the case before Election Day, in order t0 ensure that the rules of the road were set in advance. Refusing to hear the case either before the election or after the election guarantees that the issue remains unsettled for the next election.

Justice Clarence Thomas, joined by Justices Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch, wrote a dissent blasting the Court for repeatedly ducking this issue (Alito added his own dissent). Normally, federal courts will not hear cases once they are moot, and that would normally be the situation here: Justice Thomas noted that there was no evidence in the record that the Pennsylvania deadline extension changed the result of any federal election…

[The Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s] decision to rewrite the rules seems to have affected too few ballots to change the outcome of any federal election. But that may not be the case in the future. These cases provide us with an ideal opportunity to address just what authority nonlegislative officials have to set election rules, and to do so well before the next election cycle. The refusal to do so is inexplicable. . . . An election system lacks clear rules when, as here, different officials dispute who has authority to set or change those rules. This kind of dispute brews confusion because voters may not know which rules to follow. Even worse, with more than one system of rules in place, competing candidates might each declare victory under different sets of rules.

That does sound familiar, doesn’t it? Thomas detailed why contests involving mail-in ballots, which were once treated with skepticism even by the New York Times and election-law experts, were more complicated to litigate quickly, and thus presented even greater mootness problems: “Five to six weeks for judicial testing is difficult enough for straightforward cases. For factually complex cases, compressing discovery, testimony, and appeals into this timeline is virtually impossible.” He specifically noted the compressed timeline imposed in presidential elections by the Electoral Count Act of 1887. And Justice Thomas warned of the particular problems the Court faces in trying to handle politically charged cases in the middle of voting, pointing to a South Carolina case where the Court ended up ordering one rule for ballots cast after its decision, and another for ballots already cast.

[End]

Note that two of President Trump’s three nominees for the Court ruled against the American people and the Constitution in this decision, and you see how screwed we all really are.

Be careful out there.

That is all.

Baby Boomers Get a Bad Rap: Putting Boomers Into Context

Guest Piece by America’s History Teacher, Larry Schweikart

A new book by Helen Andrews, Boomers: The Men and Women Who Promised Freedom and Delivered Disaster—and the accompanying review in American Greatness by Chris Buskirk is mostly an accurate snapshot of the generation that followed “the Greatest.” (https://amgreatness.com/2021/02/07/the-baby-boomers-dismal-legacy/)

Mostly.

There is a severe lack of context in judgments about Boomers as disasters. I have not come to praise the Boomers, but to put them in the context of their burial clothes. Without that context, one would mindlessly accept all the criticisms of the Gen-Xers and Millennials (who, so far, have shown no more ability to lead the world out of this morass than my own did).

First, it is true it’s “all about me” when it came to Boomers. The phrase in the 1960s was “if it feels good, do it.” (This was straight out of Roman Epicurean thought, which had its opposite in the Stoics: “If it feels good, don’t do it.”) Yes, much of the literature that has come out has been, as Buskirk puts it, hagigraphic. Yes, they did start celebrating themselves in college, probably with the culminating event in their lives Woodstock as opposed to America landing a man on the moon that same year. The latter was almost all the result of “The Greatest,” the former, entirely laid at the feet of Boomers who were either at the tail end of the “Greatest” or at its beginning. Of the groups that best epitomized Woodstock, think of Crosby, Stills & Nash and Jimi Hendrix. David Crosby (b. 1941), Graham Nash (1942), Steven Stills (1945), and Hendrix (1942) and you have a group who certainly had never even tasted the Great Depression. Their formative years did not start until World War II had ended. Throw in Frank Zappa (1940) and the quintuplet is complete.

Let us also remember that Donald Trump, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Elton John, Walter Payton, Cal Ripken, Jr., Steve Irwin, George Brett, Adrea Bocelli, Denzel Washington, Peter Jackson, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sylvester Stallone, Jair Bolsonaro, Mel Gibson, Lionel Ritchie, Jack Ma, Hank Williams, Jr, Benjamin Netanyahu, Kurt Russell and Jordan Peterson are in this group. (So are a lot of baddies I won’t mention . . . cough, cough . . . O. J. Simpson, El Chapo, Jim Carrey, Jeff Bezos, and Ted Bundy). We could put in a dozen names on each side of the ledger.

What’s interesting is that there are fewer truly great entrepreneurs or scientists in the group. This has as much to do with the structure of society since 1950 as it does with any inherent weakness in people.  The fact that so many of the people who deserve notoriety in a positive sense are actors, musicians, or sports figures reflects as much that society had deemed those the best route to success from 1960 on as did did the “Greatest” with business, the military, or medicine. Yet the Boomer scientists gave us the artificial heart, the portable dialysis machine, the ambulatory infusion pump, controlled drug release technology, the universal serial bus port, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, the music synthesizer, text-to-speech technology, the world wide web, Viagra, DNA fingerprinting, the ethernet, Foxfibre naturally colored cotton, the automated external debifrillator, and the cell phone.

Fred Smith (1944) founded Fed Ex; Robert Kiyosaki (1947) became a leading motivational speaker; Richard Branson (1950), a British businessman; Jeff Bezos founded Amazon; and Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, Apple. The fact that some of these giant companies later became quasi-monopolies or displayed characteristics incompatible with an American Republic was as much a fault of regulators (or even the public that consumed the products) as the creators themselves. After all, J. P. Morgan and John D. Rockefeller would have ridden the trusts as far as they could until stopped.

Second, there were powerful forces at work in America in the 1950s that shaped most of the Boomers as they entered college. And more of them entered college than any other previous generations. As the river of Boomers washed ashore on campuses in 1961-62, it was met by two other equally powerful steams. One was the massive influx of cash into colleges and universities due to the 1957-instigated reaction to the USSR’s Sputnik satellite. That money was meant for science and math, but once funds enter a university, they spread to the area of greatest power, namely the Humanities. (Americans, in their wisdom, had concluded that it was absolutely critical to teach everyone how to write well, speak well, and know their history.) At that same time, however, the wave of students and wave of money met a third tributary flowing the same direction, a newly-unleashed population of leftist professors who had been banned during the McCarthy era but, in the post-McCarthy backlash, were not only tolerated but welcomed on campus.

These “three streams” that converged, as Michael Allen and I wrote in A Patriot’s History of the United States, meant that more kids than ever would be coming out of school with degrees in something less likely to actually manufacture or produce anything and much more likely to emerge with an attitude somewhat hostile to the idea of America itself. A resulting shift away from invention, science, math, industry, and production and into arts, music, sports, finance, insurance, and writing led to the relative poor comparison to the “Titans of Prosperity” who led the phenomenal growth of the late 1800s. That is to say, it’s not all on the Boomers: they worked within the system they had, which was created by the “Greatest” in hopes of sparing Boomers from the hard life the “Greatest” faced.

All of which brings me to the constant comparison with the “Greatest”: yes, the “Greatest” generation did win World War II and Korea. Did they really have an alternative? But consider that in doing so, they were required by the government to adopt certain lifestyles that without war it’s unlikely they would have chosen. For example, the Second World War forced Americans (both in the armed forces and civilians at home) to save at unprecedented levels. There was nothing to spend money on because of rationing and because the government had shut down production of all but war-related goods. For more than four years, Americans saved their paychecks in the most remarkable forced-savings burst in American history. When they emerged from the war, they let loose with a frenzy of home buying and auto purchases. At the same time, young men were required to adopt “manly” and traditional roles as protectors, heroes, providers, and producers. Again, there was no alternative. The process involving male development—manly, masculine developmen—was not optional. Thus those who wax romantic about the “Greatest” need to ask, “Would they have been so great if it were not forced on them?” And, “would other generations rise to the occasion if such were forced on them?”

Andrews’ book is the equivalent of Paul Johnson’s Intellectuals (1988) that dissected many of the leading thinkers of the pre-modern era, mostly in a negative context. Johnson apparently felt so badly about how he assessed genius (even malevolent) that he followed up with a much more positive work, Creators (2006). While Buskirk and Andrews lament the “spend, spend, spend” mentality, they seem to ignore the fact that to spend, spend, spend you have to make, make, make. Home prices (and Boomer wealth) rose, yes, in part to loose federal regulations but to a far greater degree because Boomers (thanks to the auto) were far more mobile than any previous generation and because they literally bought into the American dream of home ownership.

Finally, before bashing Boomers, one might ask: what the hell have the Gen-Xers, the Millennials, and the iGeners done to improve things? The Millennials’ view is that of “social justice” through group action—but not real individual sacrifice. About the only Greenie I can think of who actually lived his ideology was Ed Begley, Jr. who composted and lived “small.” Millennials and a handful of Gen-Xers had their hands on the levers of government and the machinery of regulation for years, yet under their watch not only did the housing boom turn into a collapse in 2007-08, but their regulations largely caused it. Their do-good environmental restrictions have resulted in more people dying due to lack of energy and fewer people crawling out of poverty—all so they can feel like they “made a difference.”

Sorry. Don’t rag on Boomers to me. I am one. Mike Allen and I made our contribution with A Patriot’s History of the United States. What did you do, little Millennial?

The New York Times Gets it Half Right on Texas Blackouts

Hey, half-right is better than the New York Times normally does whenever writing about Texas, so I suppose we should applaud the authors of the piece I’m looking at this morning, titled “Texas Power Grid Run by ERCOT Set Up the State for Disaster.” Like so many other slanted media reports over the past week on this subject, the Times gets some things right while ignoring inconvenient realities that end up causing the writers to miss the fundamental point.

While most of the facts the piece lays out are in fact accurate, the headline gets the fundamental problem wrong: The power grid itself didn’t set the state up for the disaster; the failure of the people who manage the grid to recognize the utter folly of their ways did. Of course, since the folly that those grid managers at ERCOT engaged in was to focus all their efforts over the last decade on incentivizing the building of more and more wind and solar in Texas while refusing to recognize the reality that those sources of energy would fail us in a weather emergency like the one that took place last week, the leftwingers at the Times didn’t want to focus on that reality.

Perhaps the key paragraph in the entire piece is this one, which illustrates the perilous position that the failures of ERCOT had put the state in when the winter storms began to hit the state on February 9:

One example of how Texas has gone it alone is its refusal to enforce a “reserve margin” of extra power available above expected demand, unlike all other power systems around North America. With no mandate, there is little incentive to invest in precautions for events, such as a Southern snowstorm, that are rare. Any company that took such precautions would put itself at a competitive disadvantage.

[End]

Though factually accurate as far as it goes, this paragraph is where the entire thesis of the piece falls apart. While the facts presented in the paragraph are fundamentally true, the slant by the writers in blaming it all on the evil (in any liberal’s mind) “de-regulation” is simply not correct. What the authors ignore in this paragraph is the fact that, while natural gas prices were high during the first decade under the de-regulated system, Texas had a boom in the building of new combined-cycle natural gas power plants, which have enabled Texas to retire much of its fleet of coal-fired plants and lead the nation in emissions reductions over that time frame.

See, the part of the system these authors don’t inform their readers about is the fact that ERCOT’s de-regulated system allows power providers to base their rates to consumers – which appears as a “fuel charge” on our bills – on the price for the highest-cost fuel source, which from 2000-2009 was consistently natural gas. It was that higher fuel charge that provided the incentive to build all of those new, clean, natural gas plants in the first ten years of this century.

But the fundamental failure of ERCOT came when the price for natural gas began to collapse to chronic lower levels in 2009, where it has remained ever since. When gas prices began to collapse in 2009, my own summer-time electricity bills quickly dropped from ~$500 per month to half of that. The loss of that income from millions of consumers robbed the market of the incentives to build new baseload power.

Lacking that profit incentive, and with no other incentivization being provided by ERCOT or the Texas legislature, power providers have since chosen to invest their capital dollars elsewhere. Meanwhile, ERCOT’s policies have continued to heavily incentivize the build-out of new wind and solar, both of which failed the state so miserably during this crisis, which I detailed for readers in a piece posted last night:

Just so everyone knows that all forms of power generation in Texas failed us to some extent this past week, I wanted you all to see the chart below. Here is what it shows, in terms of the % of power loss by energy source from 11:00 p.m. Feb 14 [At the peak of the chart] to 11:00 p.m. Feb 17, when 4 million Texans were without power:

May be an image of text

Natural Gas fell from 43 mwh to 32 mwh, a loss of 26%

Solar dropped from 1 mwh to ZERO, a loss of 100%

Wind dropped from 8 mwh to 3 mwh, a loss of a whopping 63%

Coal fell from 12 mwh to 8 mwh, a loss of 33%

Nuclear fell from 4 mwh to 3mwh, a loss of 25%

It is also key to note here that, from midnight on February 9, when the first blast of cold weather began to set in across the state, until 11:00 p.m., February 14, when output peaked, Natural Gas rose from 14 mwh to 43 mwh, or roughly 300%. Over that same span of time, Wind dropped from about 30 mwh to 8 mwh, or about 72%.

So, although a relative handful of natural gas power plants did freeze up, either due to the weather or due to lack of natural gas supply as some pipelines also lost pressure, the unarguable fact of the matter is that so-called “renewables” were utterly useless to Texas consumers during this life-threatening emergency, and that without Natural Gas, the entire state would have been left freezing in the dark.

[End]

ERCOT has known for years now – and has informed the PUC and the legislature of this on a regular basis – that the Texas grid lacks adequate reserve capacity to get us through a weather calamity such as the one just past. We don’t have enough baseload reserves, and literally everyone has known that (or should have known it), yet no one in a position of authority has had the political will to force that to chance.

Here is where the NY Times writers get the fundamental issue right, in the following paragraph:

With so many cost-conscious utilities competing for budget-shopping consumers, there was little financial incentive to invest in weather protection and maintenance. Wind turbines are not equipped with the de-icing equipment routinely installed in the colder climes of the Dakotas and power lines have little insulation. The possibility of more frequent cold-weather events was never built into infrastructure plans in a state where climate change remains an exotic, disputed concept.

[End]

Indeed, the same features of the de-regulated market that have saved Texas consumers billions over the last 20 years have created this lack of incentivization to build new capacity and to properly winterize pipelines and power generation facilities. The heavy competition by power providers to offer the lowest rates to consumers created a cost-cutting and cost-saving mania among the generators, and any costs not required by regulators have naturally been avoided.

Here’s the other fact that the NY Times writers omit: Even with the lack of adequate reserve power generation capacity, last week’s blackouts would have been avoided had pipeline operators and power generators properly winterized their plants. But, as I’ve written several times over the past week, winterization has been suggested and encouraged by regulators, but it has never been required.

Another aspect of all of this that the Times writers leave out of their story is what happened in the cities of Austin and San Antonio last week, and is continuing into this week. Both of those cities run their own, city-owned and regulated power systems, although they do purchase much of their electricity from the same power providers that generate electricity for the Texas grid. The blackouts in both of those “regulated” cities were far more severe than those across the rest of the state, and both cities are still under “boil water” advisories today due to their water systems having lost power for several days.

Bottom line: This was not a disaster that was directly caused by the liberal boogeyman of “de-regulation.” This disaster was caused by the utter failure of the managers of that system (ERCOT) and the policymakers who oversee them (PUC, legislature) to adequately deal with a dangerous situation that they have all been well aware of for more than a decade now.

Blaming the “system” is what biased journalists and regulators do to shift blame and avoid taking responsibility for their own inactions. The “system” in Texas isn’t the problem: The human beings are.

That is according to the official data coming from ERCOT and the U.S. Energy Information Administration. So, next time you see the leftwingers at the Texas Tribune or Houston Chronicle or New York Times or CNN tell you it was all the fault of natural gas, you know they’re really failing to tell the real story.

Sunday News Roundup: Fact-checkers Disappear as Dems Lard up the ‘Stimulus’ Bill With Pork

I write at length in another piece this morning about the media smear of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for putting his state’s elderly population first in line to receive the COVID vaccines. But that is far from the only media smear of DeSantis happening right now.

The Florida Governor is also being smeared for…wait for it…his efforts to ensure election integrity! No kidding:

From the story at BigLeaguePolitics:

Florida had the most transparent and efficient election anywhere in the country,” DeSantis said. “Other states took days, weeks, and even months to count their votes. And yet Florida, by midnight on election night, we had 99% reporting and 11 million votes counted, tabulated, and put out to the public.”

Florida’s legislature had moved to reform the state’s election practices in the interests of reporting brevity and election integrity following the disputed 2000 presidential election. The results of Florida’s presidential election were available and clear on election night in November, with other states implementing mass-in voting for the first time struggling to report results for several days or even weeks.

DeSantis’ proposal wouldn’t eliminate mail-in voting in Florida. It would merely require every voter who wishes to vote by mail to request a mail-in ballot every election, as opposed to mailing millions of ballots without verifying addresses and identities.

Under the package, only someone’s family member could drop off their ballot, in a move designed to prevent suspect political front groups from “harvesting” ballots. This would establish a clear chain of custody from the voter to the state without unnecessary third parties.

The comprehensive package would also require counties and municipalities to make election results public and transparent in timely fashion.

[End]

You just can’t make this stuff up, folks.

But wait, there’s more!

DeSantis is also under fire this weekend for taking this action on Friday:

That’s right: He’s the only governor in the country who is paying appropriate tribute to the single most influential media figure in our nation’s history. So naturally, the DC/New York Democrat media propaganda machine – who all hated Rush – are up in arms smearing DeSantis over this move, too.

If that doesn’t convince you that DeSantis is right at the top of potential GOP presidential nominees for 2024, then you aren’t paying attention. Assuming Donald Trump chooses not to make another bid, DeSantis is in fact the most likely to become the nominee at this moment in time.

I’m old enough to remember when a U.S. President got blamed for every one of these deaths by the corrupt national news media. – Yeah, but that was a month ago. Now that a Democrat sock puppet is in office, he won’t get blamed for the fact that more than 100,000 Americans supposedly died from COVID-19 during the first month of his presidency:

That, of course, is according to the official count, which we have all known for almost a year now is radically overblown. But still, 100,000 in a month seems like a lot, doesn’t it? Seems like something CNN and MSNBC and all of your local news stations would maybe take a moment to note, and maybe even display ticker at the bottom of the screen as a constant reminder. Right?

But all of those tickers have magically disappeared now, gone the moment China Joe Biden was sworn into the presidency. Funny how that works.

Guess what else has magically disappeared from the corrupt news media? – If you said “fact-checkers,” you win the prize. Remember how CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Post, the New York Times and all the alphabet broadcast networks had full-time presidential fake fact-checkers on staff to obsess over every word a certain ex-president had to say?

Yeah, they’re all gone now:

From the story at Mediaite:

CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale was one of the busiest people in the cable news business for several years, but he has almost completely disappeared from the network’s programming over the past month or so. What happened?

Dale became a veritable household name among cable news viewers during Trump’s presidency after his work for the Toronto Star, tallying and debunking false or misleading statements by Trump, landed him a national gig with CNN.

Since joining CNN in June of 2019, Dale has appeared or been mentioned on the network more than once every other day on average, according to the Internet Archive.

That exposure dropped sharply after November 4, and according to the TV Eyes media monitoring database, since President Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20, Dale has only appeared on the network once. And that appearance, last Friday, was to fact-check Donald Trump’s lawyers.

[End]

That’s right: CNN’s “fact-checker” has made only one on-air appearance since China Joe was installed into the White House, and that was to “fact-check” lawyers for Donald Trump.

Nevermind that you could have kept an army of fact-checkers busy for a full week just to correct all the rank BS Biden spewed during his CNN town hall last week with Cooper Anderson, er, Anderson Cooper, that job will not be available for the next four years because it doesn’t fit neatly into the agenda of the Democrat Party and its army of operatives who infest the national news media.

*sigh*

What’s the most predictable thing in the world? – Democrats pushing pork.

That’s what they’re doing in this $1.9 trillion “stimulus” bill – larding it up with hundreds of billions of dollars in wasteful spending on leftist political projects:

From the story at RedState.com:

House Democrats finally released their long-awaited $1.9 trillion Wuhan coronavirus relief bill.

It probably wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to predict that it would be packed full of goodies for the friends of Democrats like the prior “relief” bills, seeming less about “relief” to help desperate Americans and more like doling out pork for pet causes.

Same song, 10,000th verse from your Democrat Party. Some things never change.

That is all.

The DC/New York Media Establishment is Scared to Death of Ron DeSantis and Ted Cruz

How do you know when the corrupt news media is scared to death of any Republican politician? – When they start making up fake scandals about him or her.

That is of course what the corrupt hacks serving as Democrat toadies throughout our despicable national media establishment have been doing to Ron DeSantis since he became Governor of the Sunshine State in January 2019. None of them have stuck because he’s a clean guy running a clean administration, but that still does not stop the fake reporters and editors in the DC/New York media Democrat propaganda arm from trying.

This week saw yet another fake scandal materialize in the media’s never-ending efforts to damage the guy they obviously consider to be among the strongest likely contenders for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. Check out this tweet from the depraved hacks who run MSNBC:

Here’s a little snippet from that insane story:

Florida’s governor was slow to respond to the pandemic and his Covid-19 vaccine distribution plan has been marked by chaos, but critics say he’s been quick to recognize the political gold in those precious doses.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, ignored federal guidelines and prioritized getting senior citizens — one of Florida’s most potent voting blocs — vaccinated first.

When Holocaust survivors and Cuban survivors of the Bay of Pigs debacle — revered members of two other key Florida voting blocs — got their first shots, DeSantis made sure he was there for the news conferences.

And now the governor stands accused of using the Covid-19 vaccine to reward powerful political supporters and developers by setting up pop-up vaccination sites in planned communities they developed and where GOP voters predominate.

Responding to recent criticism from both Republican and Democrats in Manatee and Charlotte counties, both south of Tampa, where one site was set up last week and another began dispensing doses on Wednesday, DeSantis said local lawmakers should be more grateful

“I’ll tell you what, I wouldn’t be complaining,” the governor said. “I’d be thankful that we are able to do it.”

[End]

So, understand what’s happening here: Gov. DeSantis is being smeared for the sin of refusing to prioritize vaccines based on the race/gender/LGBTQ priorities preferred by the Democrats and the media. Instead, he is prioritizing elderly Americans, regardless of race/gender/sexual orientation or BLM stamp of approval to be the first to receive the shots.

Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE THE MOST VULNERABLE SEGMENT OF OUR POPULATION TO THE VIRAL GIFT FROM CHINA.

Honest to God, that’s what this smear is all about. If you think that’s despicable and depraved and more than a little bit demented and disgraceful, well, that’s all the proof you need to know that everyone pushing this smear in the media is in fact a Democrat operative.

Note also how the story begins with this first completely false smear: “Florida’s governor was slow to respond to the pandemic…”

DeSantis was in fact among the quickest to respond the pandemic in his state. How did he respond? By moving to protect the elderly, especially elderly residents in his state’s nursing homes and assisted living communities, so many of whom moved to Florida from New York for their retirements.

Those who moved are the lucky New Yorkers, since the Governor of that state, Andrew Cuomo, sentenced thousands of elderly nursing home patients to their deaths through his insane policy choices related to COVID.

But the media has chosen to lionize Cuomo for the past year, while at the same time endlessly harassing DeSantis, the guy who made sure his elderly residents had the very best chance of living through the pandemic, and is now making sure they are among the first to be inoculated. DeSantis’s choice to focus efforts on the most vulnerable segments of his state’s population is in fact the very reason why the Democrat media hacks hate him and continue to harass him.

Yes, that is insane. But that is what our utterly corrupt national news media does for Democrats.

For more proof of exactly how despicable the media truly is, let’s close this piece with this tweet:

That’s right: The Washington Post has now run 27 separate stories about Ted Cruz’s family vacation, but just 2 on Cuomo’s mass killings of elderly New Yorkers and his efforts to cover them up.

That’s the very definition of despicable.

That is all.

The COVID Pandemic Could be Ending – and That’s a Real Problem for Biden

Lots of media chatter happening today about the dramatic fall in COVID-19 infection and hospitalization rates since the first of the year. Here are some examples:

It seems the vaccines that were fast-tracked by the Trump Administration are proving even more effective than first thought, thanks to the rapid distribution and administering program implemented by the Trump team, which had more than 1 million doses being delivered every day by the time China Joe Biden was installed into the presidency. That reality, combined with the build-up of herd immunity in the country is now leading to a dramatic drop in the infection, hospitalization and death rates related to the viral gift from China.

From the New York Post story linked above:

A Johns Hopkins professor and surgeon says that the coronavirus could be “mostly gone” by April.

Marty Makary, who teaches at the university’s School of Medicine and Bloomberg School of Public Health, said in an opinion piece published in the Wall Street Journal on Friday that daily infections have declined by 77 percent since January.

“There is reason to think the country is racing toward an extremely low level of infection,” Makary wrote. “As more people have been infected, most of whom have mild or no symptoms, there are fewer Americans left to be infected. At the current trajectory, I expect COVID will be mostly gone by April, allowing Americans to resume normal life.”

Vaccinations and the high number of people who have already been infected in the US — more than 28 million — could contribute to herd immunity in the spring, Makary said. Herd immunity occurs when enough people become immune to a virus, ending its spread. Makary also said it would protect against new strains of the coronavirus from spreading.

“When the chain of virus transmission has been broken in multiple places, it’s harder for it to spread — and that includes the new strains,” he said.

[End]

Of course, none of this is in any way in the Biden/Fauci plan to keep Americans holed up in their homes and wearing double-masks into perpetuity. Even worse, it is crystal clear that these suddenly much more positive outlooks are the result of actions taken by the Trump administration, and that neither Biden nor his evil handlers can take credit for any of it.

Thus, the only recourse available for the Biden people to take is of course to try to revise history, which is why we saw the DC Swamp Sock Puppet-in-Chief say this on Friday:

BIDEN: “Just over four weeks ago, America had no real plan to vaccinate most of the country. My predecessor, as my mother would say, ‘failed to order enough vaccines,’ failed to mobilize the effort to administer the shots… That changed the moment we took office.”

This is obviously an outright lie, but hey, he’s a Democrat, so what else would we expect?

To be clear: Nothing changed the moment Biden took office. In fact, it is painfully obvious from his and Fauci’s constantly-shifting narratives that they had no plan whatsoever related to COVID-19 on January 20, and still don’t have any real plan – other than to needlessly keep schools closed at the behest of teacher’s unions – today, one full month later.

And now, their plan to keep Americans frightened and masked for years to come is imperiled by the solutions made possible by the executive actions of Donald J. Trump.

For actual Americans, the potential for their lives to return to something resembling normalcy is cause for celebration. But for Biden and his fellow Democrats, it’s the worst possible scenario.

That’s the truth, and we shouldn’t be shy about saying it.

That is all.

Saturday News Roundup: Biden Declares that ‘America is back’ to Bowing to International Despots

This is what the left has wrought. – Speaking before the G-7 Summit on Friday, China Joe Biden declared “America is back,” and unilaterally surrendered American interests to Europe, China, and Russia. Because that’s what internationalists do. Calling an end to “America first” diplomacy, Biden signaled that the U.S. government would ensure that the interest of its citizens once again become subservient to other nations in a return to globalism.

From the story at DailyWire:

President Biden told leaders at the G-7 summit on Friday, the same day the U.S. reentered the Paris Agreement, that the days of “America First” diplomacy championed by former President Trump were over, according toThe New York Times.

As The New York Post, which cited Biden’s intent to declare on Friday that the “America First” era was over, noted, “Biden has swiftly dismantled Trump’s foreign policy agenda, which saw the U.S. withdraw from the World Health Organization, the Paris Agreement and the Iran nuclear deal, which Trump believed were against the nation’s interests.”

One official told the Post, “Now he will get the opportunity as president of the United States early in his term to declare that America is back and the trans-Atlantic alliance is back. He will look forward to driving home the core proposition that the trans-Atlantic alliance is a cornerstone for American engagement in the world in the 21st century, just as it was in the 20th.”

Biden claimed, “America is back, the trans-Atlantic alliance is back … we are not looking backward.” He stated, “We have to prove that our model isn’t a relic of history. We must demonstrate that democracies can still deliver for our people in this changed world. That is our galvanizing mission. Democracy doesn’t happen by accident. We have to defend it. Strengthen it. Renew it.”

The G-7 group includes the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom in its organization.

[End]

So, we’re back in the worthless Paris Climate Accords, in which we are the only nation on earth that, thanks to the use of natural gas in power generation to displace coal, has already met our emissions goals through 2025. We will now fork over billions every year to be redistributed to the world’s other grasping nations under that agreement.

We’re back in the World Health Organization, that mouthpiece for China whose budget we pay a wildly disproportionate share. And we’re back “negotiating” with Iran so that we can go back to subsidizing the Mullahs’ pursuit of becoming a nuclear power, as we did during the Obama/Biden years.

All of this in Biden’s first month serving as our national DC Swamp sock puppet-in-chief.

We are so screwed.

The Sock Puppet was traveling yesterday. – During a trip to Michigan to visit a facility run by COVID vaccine manufacturer Pfizer, the Sock Puppet told reporters that the economy – which was in a major recovery while Donald Trump was still in the White House, but has faded since – won’t recover until “we beat this virus.”

From the story at The Daily Caller:

President Joe Biden said Friday that the American economy won’t recover “until we beat this virus.”

“I got a letter from more than 400 mayors from big cities and small towns. They understand we’re not gonna get our economy back in shape and the millions of people back to work until we beat this virus,” Biden said during a visit to a Pfizer facility in Michigan that manufactures coronavirus vaccines.

[End]

Meanwhile, this was what his brother Frank Biden was doing Thursday night:

Image

That’s Frank on the left, partying with Floyd Mayweather and a couple of his mask-less pals. Yeah, the Biden family’s really serious about beating this virus, huh?

Repeat after me: The fence is permanent. The fence is permanent. The fence is permanent. – To no one’s real surprise, the head of the DC Capitol Police yesterday was making the rounds, urging members of congress to continue funding the wall, er, ‘fence’ around the capitol building and the 7,000 National Guard troops who remain deployed in DC through at least September.

From the story at JustTheNews.com:

U.S. Capitol Police officials are telling Washington lawmakers the recently installed security fencing should stay up until at least September, citing continuing security concerns, according to a news report Friday.

The plan is being reported by CNN, based on information from a source familiar with the matter.

The fencing was installed after the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol and before the Jan. 20 inauguration of President Biden.

The roughly 7-foot-high, chain-linked fence, topped with razor wire, was supposed to be removed in March. But its future, like many matters in Washington, is caught in political crosswinds.

“While there is no specific, credible threat to the homeland at this time, DHS continues to gather, review, and analyze new intelligence each day and regularly updates its federal, state, local, tribal, and non-governmental partners on the results of those efforts,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told CNN. “The most significant terrorism-related threat currently facing the nation comes from lone offenders and small groups of individuals inspired by domestic extremist ideological beliefs, including those based on false narratives spread over social media and other online platforms.”

[End]

Get that? He wants it to stay there through “at least” September, at which time he will no doubt urge it remain for another year or two years or four years or however long the DC Swamp believes they must “temporarily” extend it until the public has completely forgotten the days when it wasn’t there and become fully acclimated to it. In other words, as long as it takes to boil the proverbial frog.

The wall, er, ‘fence’ is permanent, as is the National Guard presence in the nation’s capitol. It is permanent because the denizens of the swamp know this government is illegitimate, and they know that we know it. Just as is the case in third-world countries all over the globe, the only way to ensure an illegitimate government remains in power is trough the force and protection of the military.

The Capitol wall, er, ‘fence’ is part of that protection. Washington, DC is a police state. Get used to it.

From our You Just Can’t Make This Stuff Up file… – Try to imagine the outrage if this internal Coca Cola training regime urged employees to be “less black” or “less Asian” or “less Hispanic”:

I would say this is unbelievably racist, but hey, it’s all too believable in today’s society.

If Coca-Cola management attempted to apply this training to Black, Asian or Hispanic folks, the company would be hounded out of business by the media and the government, and deservedly so. But because the company’s bigotry is directed at White people, no one in the corrupt news media will even bother to report the story.

Hey, what’s wrong? China Joe Biden says it’s all just a cultural difference.:

Hilarious. Does anyone doubt for a single second that Alisyn Camerota voted for Joe Biden? Of course she did.

Friday News Roundup: Cuomo’s Problems Continue to Mount as Biden’s Broken COVID Promises Pile Up

You just could never make this stuff up, folks. – If you thought that the Democrats’ second failed impeachment effort directed at former President Donald Trump would put an end to their five-year campaign of persecution towards him, well, think again. It seems that hounding this man is all the Democrats in congress know how to do anymore, an extremely hard addiction to just put down cold turkey.

Thus it was that on Thursday,  a group of literally insane, hate-filled House Democrats introduced HR 484, ironically titled the “No Glory for Hate Act”:

May be an image of text

Yes, that’s right: Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives have nothing better to do than waste their time writing bills that would ban Donald Trump from being buried in Arlington National Cemetery, where he most likely had no desire to be buried in any event. After all, why would a man whose entire rationale for running for the presidency was to dismantle the DC Swamp want to be buried on a hill overlooking the freaking DC Swamp?

Just one more glowing example of why, if Democrats didn’t already exist, you could never in a million years make them up.

Today’s Short-Term Memory Reminder: Just a reminder that the same liberals who have spend the last 24 hours feigning outrage about Ted Cruz going to Cancun have expressed ZERO outrage about…

 – Gavin Newsom at French Laundry
 – Ralph Northam at his NC beach house
 – Lori Lightfoot getting her hair done
 – Nancy Pelosi getting her hair done
 – Nancy Pelosi showing of her $50k Sub-zero refrigerator/freezer set filled with gallon upon gallon of designer ice cream
et cetera, et cetera, et cetera
Pardon me, libs, if I don’t take your outrage about Sen. Cruz very seriously at all.

Andrew Cuomo Killing the Old Folks Update. – The problems from his mass-sentencing of thousands of his state’s nursing home residents to death in their nursing homes continue to pile up for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The scandal has now grown to such proportions that even sleazy old Alec Baldwin is so repulsed that he felt the need to weight in his thoughts on the matter yesterday:

Man, when even a slug like Alec Baldwin finds your behavior too sleazy to defend, you know you’re in trouble. Of course, note that Baldwin, a hard-core leftist ghoul, is not angry about Cuomo’s killing the old folks: He’s just mad because Cuomo tried to make another Democrat an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Back to the topic of Cuomo’s killing of the old folks, The Empire State Center for Public Policy issued the first formal report on the matter yesterday, finding that Cuomo is responsible for the death of more than 1,000 New Yorkers:

From the story at the New York Post:

The Cuomo administration’s controversial directive for nursing homes to accept COVID-19 patients amid the pandemic likely did lead to a spike in resident deaths, an analysis of its own data revealed Thursday.

The study by the nonprofit Empire Center for Public Policy tied “several hundred and possibly more than 1,000” fatalities to the since-rescinded March 25, 2020, order that critics have blamed for spreading the coronavirus among vulnerable seniors.

The analysis also suggests the controversial mandate is “associated with” more than one in six of 5,780 nursing deaths statewide between late March and early May.

“The findings contradict a central conclusion of the state Department of Health’s July 6 report on coronavirus in nursing homes, which said, among other things: ‘Admission policies were not a significant factor in nursing home fatalities,’ and ‘the data do not show a consistent relationship between admissions and increased mortality,’ ” according to a draft report prepared by the Empire Center.

The DOH report primarily blamed the spread of COVID-19 in nursing homes on infected but asymptomatic staffers and visitors, and has repeatedly been cited by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to deny any responsibility — even though he himself had warned on March 29, “Coronavirus in a nursing home is like fire in dry grass.”

[End]

Oh. As I note elsewhere this morning, the corrupt news media is doing its best to try to shift focus away from the Cuomo story, but is having a hard time doing it as new revelations just keep coming to light. Cuomo is their darling, after all, every but as much as were the Creepy Porn Lawyer and the pedo-hugging members of the Lincoln Project.

It remains to be seen how much longer this focus on Cuomo’s crimes can last, but it sure is fun while it’s happening. This man is a ghoul whose behavior is more deserving of prison time than the Governor’s mansion.

I’m old enough to remember when China Joe promised to base his COVID decisions on “science.” – Yeah, those were good times, weren’t they? Remember those promises during the campaign about having a real “plan” to hit the ground running on COVID his first day in office? Remember the promises about speeding up vaccine distribution and getting our kids back in school?

Yeah, those were all lies. But hey, Biden’s a Democrat, so of course they were all lies. But now it turns out that Biden and fellow sock puppet Kamala Harris have already broken so many promises that even some Democrats are tiring of it. Jake Tapper, a Democrat agent posing as a journalist at CNN, went off on Democrat hack Abby Phillip on his show yesterday, after she recited some smarmy lies trying to justify keeping the schools closed:

From the story at Redstate:

“Why is it so tough for the Biden administration to give a straight, clear answer on this question of when schools should open?” Jake Tapper wondered on Wednesday.

“I think that they are torn,” Phillip replied. “Look, the teachers unions are a very powerful Democratic constituency and they feel very strongly that teachers should at the very least all be vaccinated before returning to the school.

It’s delusional. Most schools are already open, without problems. But the Biden team doesn’t even want to admit that. Because to admit that would push the question on the rest. So they do this weird thing of setting goals that have already been met before Biden even came in and until yesterday gave these evasive responses to the questions about vaccinations.

As we previously reported, CNN’s John Berman chastised Kamala Harris’ spokes person, Symone Sanders for not giving a straight answer on vaccination of teachers.

CNN isn’t the only one busting the Biden team on this, even WaPo made up a video of all the changing stories from the Biden team.

[End]

For the 100th time: There is no ‘science’ behind keeping our schools closed for COVID. There is only politics. Period. The politics at play here are due to the fact that Biden and his handlers are afraid to offend the powerful teacher’s unions.

That’s all it is. All else is lies.

That is all.

Ted Cruz Becomes This Week’s Media Shiny Object

Just another shiny object for the media to distract you with. – The first few weeks of the sock puppet Biden administration have been a disastrous time for Democrats. Among other horrific stories, the elderly, brain-addled Biden and his fellow Democrats have created the following raft of negative stories:

– More than 85,000 Americans dead of COVID;

– Tens of thousands of jobs cancelled by Biden’s first-day executive orders, at least 10,000 of which were in the oil and gas industry;

– New York Governor Andrew Cuomo responsible for the deaths of thousands of Biden’s fellow elderly citizens in his state’s nursing homes;

– Cuomo now under investigation by both the FBI and the New York Attorney General’s office;

– Biden and Anthony Fauci both ignoring actual science by c0nspiring with teacher’s unions to needlessly keep our kids out of school;

– Biden’s anti-oil and gas policies causing skyrocketing gasoline prices;

– Biden’s ramping up of the U.S. interventionist war machine;

…and on and on and on it goes.

Biden’s friends in the corrupt news media needed a shiny object to use to distract the public’s attention from all of these hugely negative stories, because that is what the media does for Democrats. On Thursday, they found their bright and shiny object in the form of Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Senator Cruz decided to follow through on a long-planned spring break trip with his kids down to Cancun, you see. When he arrived, some fellow Americans recognized him and posted video of him on their social media accounts. Smelling a bright and shiny object in the making, corrupt fake reporters decided to pick up on the story and chastise the Senator for abandoning Texas when it was in the midst of a major winter storm that had millions of Texans struggling without electrical power in their homes.

Here’s a sampling of the idiotic stories run by the Texas and national news media:

Man, Democrat media agent Chris Hayes even managed to get in a shot at the late Rush Limbaugh while taking shots at Cruz, a real media two-fer badge of honor.

If Ted Cruz happened to be Governor of Texas, or even a member of the state’s Public Utilities Commission or holder of a seat in the Texas Legislature, this would have been an actual legitimate news story. After all, people in any of those offices have an actual role to play in what happens with the Texas power grid. Any of those folks leaving the state during this weather emergency would have deserved to be literally tarred and feathered, not just slammed by a biased media.

But a United States senator like Cruz has zero role to play in determining how electricity is delivered to the 28 million citizens of Texas and the businesses that serve them. Where he goes this week literally makes no difference to anyone else. Well, except to “news” reporters desperate to focus on something, anything other than the disastrous beginning for the China Joe Biden sock puppet presidency.

For being a good dad, Senator Cruz became this week’s shiny object, and now his kids will have to vacation in Cancun without their dad. Because that is what the corrupt news media in this country does for the Democrat party.

That is all.

Thursday News Roundup: Andrew Cuomo Might be in Real Trouble

Andrew Cuomo could be in real trouble, finally. – I know it’s hard to believe that any Democrat public official in this country could ever be in real trouble, given the devoted efforts of the entirety of the corrupt national news media to provide cover for them. Least of all, Andrew Cuomo, who the media has virtually deified during the COVID pandemic, pretending that his utterly disastrous responses to the virus were somehow a role model for other governors to emulate.

But he really could be in trouble now, mainly because even his fellow Democrats in New York are beginning to turn against him in the wake of revelations that his administration systematically and intentionally under-reported the number of elderly residents who were dying in the state’s nursing homes, thanks mainly to Cuomo’s policy of sending them to those homes from hospitals before their course of treatment had ended, and while they were still contagious. It seems that even some Democrats don’t really want to be seen as supporting a governor who is responsible for the needless deaths of thousands of their own people.

On Wednesday, Democrat state representative Ron Kim told reporters that Cuomo had threated to “destroy” him if he didn’t help Cuomo chief of staff Melissa DeRosa cover up the administration’s systematic under-reporting of nursing home deaths, an effort DeRosa herself led on Cuomo’s behalf.

From a story at The Hill:

New York Assemblyman Ron Kim (D) told CNN on Wednesday that Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) had threatened him over the phone after he criticized the governor over a pause in the release of data on coronavirus deaths in state nursing homes.

“Gov. Cuomo called me directly on Thursday to threaten my career if I did not cover up for Melissa [DeRosa] and what she said. He tried to pressure me to issue a statement, and it was a very traumatizing experience,” Kim told CNN.

“We’re in this business together and we don’t cross certain lines,” Kim said the governor told him. He also said Cuomo told him that he “hadn’t seen his wrath and that he can destroy me.”

Top Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa told state lawmakers during a virtual meeting that the Cuomo administration “froze” releasing information on long-term care facility deaths out of concern that the Department of Justice (DOJ) under former President Trump would launch a federal investigation.

[End]

Oh. Bad optics, there, Governor. But not really surprising given his family’s historic ties to the New York mob.

But things are just getting worse for the thug-in-chief. This morning, multiple outlets are reporting that Cuomo now finds himself under investigation by both the FBI and the New York State Attorney General’s office.

From the story at DailyWire:

New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo is under investigation by the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, as well as the FBI, for his administration’s decision to send recovering coronavirus patients into nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, local New York media reported Wednesday night.

According to the Albany Times-Union, the U.S. Attorney’s investigation is in its “early stages” but is focusing on Cuomo’s controversial nursing home policy, which may have resulted in thousands of deaths, many more than the Cuomo administration originally reported.

“The probe by the U.S. attorney’s office in the Eastern District of New York is apparently in its early stages and is focusing on the work of some of the senior members of the governor’s task force, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter who is not authorized to comment publicly,” the Times-United noted.

“Last March, as the virus began spreading in New York, Cuomo issued a news release listing the 13 initial members of his coronavirus task force, which has been headed by Linda Lacewell, an attorney and former chief of staff for Cuomo,” the outlet reported. “Lacewell is the superintendent of the state Department of Financial Services. Other task force members include state health Commissioner Howard Zucker, Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa and Beth Garvey, counsel to the governor.”

The governor’s office acknowledged to the Times-Union that there is a Department of Justice investigation but insisted that there was no news to report on the subject.

[End]
Oh. Of course, given the utterly corrupt nature of the national dumpster fire of corruption and incompetence that is the FBI, it’s most likely that information was leaked purely for public consumption, as the agency tries to make it look as if it is doing its job, but will conveniently drop the whole thing once all the hub bub dies down and the news cycle moves to other matters. No one should expect any real action against a high-profile Democrat out of those guys and gals.

As for the New York AG’s office, well, who knows? We’ll just have to wait and see on that one. It should be noted, though, that Rep. Kim is far from the only Democrat in the state who has come out to criticize Cuomo over this matter, so the pressure on that office to perform a real investigation will be significant.

Meanwhile, Cuomo’s little brother Fredo has been reined in by management at CNN, and won’t be allowed to engage in late-night shenanigans and hilarity with his big bro as New Yorkers die all around them anymore.

From the story at DailyWire:

CNN reinstated a ban this week on opinion host Chris Cuomo being able to interview or cover his scandal-ridden brother, New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo, which comes as reports surfaced on Wednesday evening that a criminal investigation has been launched into Andrew Cuomo’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic as it relates to nursing homes.

“The early months of the pandemic crisis were an extraordinary time. We felt that Chris speaking with his brother about the challenges of what millions of American families were struggling with was of significant human interest,” CNN said in a statement. “As a result, we made an exception to a rule that we have had in place since 2013 which prevents Chris from interviewing and covering his brother, and that rule remains in place today. CNN has covered the news surrounding Governor Cuomo extensively.”

[End]

That pusillanimous statement from CNN is what we here on the frozen arctic tundra of Texas like to call a rank, smelly load of fresh horse manure. Scum of the earth, all of them.

Speaking of scum of the earth, Bette Midler was also in the news on Wednesday. – The elderly, washed-up singer summed up the feelings of all of her fellow Hollywood leftists about the fact that 4 million Texans are freezing without electricity right now in a single tweet:

Midler’s ghoulish tweet was actually sort of mild in comparison to the outpouring of vile hatred from the left in response to the death yesterday of the great Rush Limbaugh. I’m not going to repeat any of it here, but suffice it to say that our leftist friends invariably unmask their true faces to us whenever a prominent conservative dies.

I keep telling you these people hate you and would rather you were dead, folks. Believe me now?

That is all.

Biden Wastes no Time Cranking up the U.S. Interventionist War Machine

I’m old enough to remember when Democrats pretended to be in favor of peace. – The Biden administration is already well down the road in its campaign to put  an end to all the peace that broke out all over the Middle East during the Donald Trump presidency. China Joe hadn’t been installed in the Oval Office for more than 48 hours before he ordered thousands of additional U.S. military personnel to move into hot spots in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, as he and his handlers prepare to restart wars without end and revive the fortunes of the military/industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about and Trump had done so much to neuter.

The Biden war buildup continued this week with new arms sales to the governments of Chile and Egypt, despite the latter’s horrible record on human rights abuses. Unsurprisingly, the arms sales benefit weapons maker Raytheon, in which China Joe’s new Secretary of Defense owns $1.7 million in stock, which he was supposed to have already divested but of course has not done so.

From a story at Al Jazeera:

The United States approved an arms sale worth nearly $200m to Egypt but vowed to press human rights issues after an American activist reported his family had been harassed.

The Biden administration – which has vowed to end support for Saudi Arabia’s offensive operations in Yemen’s devastating war and is reviewing a major jet sale to the United Arab Emirates – said it approved the sale of 168 tactical missiles to Egypt.

The $197m sale of the Raytheon-made Rolling Airframe Missiles was requested by the Egyptian navy to improve defence in coastal areas and around the Red Sea, the US Department of State said.

The department said in a statement it approved the sale, subject to congressional review, as Egypt “continues to be an important strategic partner in the Middle East”.

Biden has vowed a tougher stance on human rights after his predecessor Donald Trump courted Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, whom he reportedly called “my favourite dictator”, in part for his cooperation with Israel.

[End]

If you are a parent with military-age children, you might want to start educating them about what is happening here. This is just the beginning of a new buildup to re-establish the Middle East as a theater for U.S. intervention into civil wars and conflicts between nations that have largely had their militaries armed by either the U.S., Russia or China. Proxy wars designed mainly to be used as tests for military preparedness and new weapons systems.

The Biden effort to kill the U.S. domestic oil and gas industry is also a big part of this, designed to intentionally make our country more dependent on the Middle East for oil resources and establish the rationale for intervention into what are largely civil conflicts. The inevitable return to this kind of interventionist foreign policy is perhaps the single most tragic consequence of the theft of the 2020 election. The irony is that it will be the college-aged dupes who voted in such large percentages for Biden who will be shipping over to these war-torn areas and returning with missing limbs or in body bags, all so the warmongering politicians in DC can continue to personally profit from the military/industrial complex.

That’s the truth, and we should not be shy about saying it.

That is all.

Rush Limbaugh, RIP

It is with profound sadness and eternal gratitude that I note the passing of Rush Limbaugh today. A truly great American in all senses of that designation, a brilliant radio artist and the de facto leader of true conservatism in the United States for 30 years, he was truly one of a kind.

Rush’s wife, Kathryn, opened his radio program today with a heartfelt statement to his 25 million+ listeners. I won’t deny shedding a tear or two as I listened to it and tried to take in the impact his loss will have. Talk radio as it has existed for the last generation existed because of Rush. His influence in the country is unrivaled in the history of the media; not just of radio, but of all media in this country’s history. No other single figure even comes close.

With his passing, there is no obvious replacement, no conservative pundit capable of taking up the torch and keeping the fires of conservatism burning. With no true national voice to guide the way, the loss of this great American will be every bit as impactful as the loss of Donald Trump and his presidency.

God Bless Rush Limbaugh for all he has done for us, God Bless his family and God Bless America.

That, sadly, is all.

Wednesday News Roundup: CNN Hosts Biden’s Big Lies as Lincoln Project’s Big Lie Disintegrates

China Joe Biden held a townhall on CNN last night, and never managed to mention the 4 million Texans freezing in the dark without electricity through the course of the event. That’s what Democrats refer to as “unity.”

Biden did manage to lie a lot, though, par for the course for any Democrat politician. He started with this whopper, telling Anderson Cooper that “we didn’t have it [the coronavirus vaccine] when we came into office.”:

For the record, vaccines began on December 12 of last year, and were being delivered at a pace of 1 million per day on January 20, when China Joe was installed into the presidency. Cooper, of course, in his role as willing dupe for the Democrat Party, did nothing to try to correct the record for CNN’s paltry viewing audience.

Biden was telling the truth here, though, when he told Cooper that he wakes up every morning wondering where he is:

He was also telling the truth that when he said that he was unaware that people of different races were allowed to date or marry until Donald Trump was president:

You could never make this stuff up, folks.

Biden also performed his duty as a willing dupe for the ChiComs, assuring the ever-credulous Cooper that genocide by the ChiCom government was really just cool, since they have their own cultural norms over there:

What a disgrace this man is. Biden has been wrong about literally everything for the last half-century, and remains wrong about literally everything today. That reality was no threat to most of us when he was just a senator or Obama’s clownshow vice president. But as president, he presents a true clear and present danger to all of us.

Speaking of clownshow vice presidents, Biden is so utterly incapable of handling the duties of the presidency that he’s having Vice President Kamala Harris make calls to foreign leaders on his behalf. This is not really surprising given the fact that Biden’s handlers are no doubt scared to death of what he might blurt out while on a call with some random head of state. Besides, Harris needs the training since she will almost certainly be taking over for good soon.

From the story at JustTheNews.com:

During her brief tenure as vice president, Kamala Harris has already had calls with world leaders, a duty typically performed by the president.

Harris spoke on Monday to French President Emmanuel Macron, a leader who President Biden had already spoken with last month on Jan. 24.

“Vice President Harris and President Macron agreed on the need for close bilateral and multilateral cooperation to address COVID-19, climate change, and support democracy at home and around the world,” according to the White House. “They also discussed numerous regional challenges, including those in the Middle East and Africa, and the need to confront them together. The Vice President thanked President Macron for his leadership on the issue of gender equality and for France’s contribution to NASA’s Mars 2020 Perseverance rover.”

Harris earlier this month spoke to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, another figure President Biden had spoken with last month.

The Epoch Times reported that during his time in office, Vice President Mike Pence never had calls with either Trudeau or Macron, but the outlet noted that Pence did participate in some in-person visits with world leaders.

[End]

So there you go. Get used to seeing and reading that, because you’ll be seeing and reading on a daily basis soon enough.

Meanwhile, here is what le Grande Buffoon, New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, is spending his time these days:

Bread and circuses! Are you not entertained, New Yorkers?

Oh, hey, remember how Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt gave us a likely made-up story about having been molested by a boy scout leader when he was 13 in order to curry public sympathy and present a self-justifying narrative for why he didn’t do anything to stop the predatory pedo activities of the group’s leader, John Weaver? Well, now we know why he took that particular action and presented that particular narrative.

That’s right: Schmidt, who lied a couple of weeks ago in claiming he had no idea what Weaver was doing, actually has known since at least March of last year. From the story at Mediaite:

Former Republican strategist and Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt reportedly knew about John Weaver’s sexual harassment accusations since March.

The NeverTrump political organization has been under enormous pressure for weeks amid multiple reports that their leadership has known about Weaver’s impropriety for months. Weaver has been accused of asking numerous younger men for sexual favors in exchange for professional advancement, and he has admitted to his “inappropriate” communications while saying he believed they were consensual at the time.

Schmidt stepped down from the organization on Friday over the Weaver scandal but denied having any knowledge of his colleague’s misconduct. However, The 19th claims that Schmidt and co-founder Reed Galen were among the members of the group’s leadership who’ve known about the Weaver allegations for almost a year.

Some of the individuals came forward with new details on Monday after they were released from their nondisclosure agreements. Several said Sarah Lenti, a managing partner with the group who was previously its executive director, knew about the allegations against Weaver as early as May 2020. Lenti confirmed that some of the group’s co-founders knew about the allegations as early as March 2020. Schmidt and Galen were among those who knew, multiple sources said.

[End]

Here’s the deal: If Schmidt knew as early as last March, they all knew as early as last March. Of course, the truth is that they all knew long before that, as Weaver’s sexual pathologies have been an open secret in the DC Swamp for 20 years now. So long as Weaver was able to keep his secret life secret and help his fellow grifter hacks make money, they were all perfectly willing to look the other way. Once that secret got out, though, it’s been every man – and woman – for himself. That’s just how the Swamp works.

The initial explanation given by Schmidt and the other creeps who made up the Lincoln Project, claiming they had only just found out the truth about Weaver in January, was your classic Big Lie. They all assumed that the corrupt news media, which had after all fawned all over them while they were working to defeat Donald Trump, would just keep on covering for them and parrot the Big Lie on their behalf.

Funny thing, though: Once January 20 came and went and Trump had been safely exiled in favor of our national sock puppet, the media no longer had any real use for Schmidt and his fellow grifters. Suddenly, a handful of actual journalists were digging for the truth, and it’s all slowly begun to trickle out over the past couple of weeks. Schmidt and all the others are now pretty much helpless, at the mercy of former staffers who have been released from their confidentiality agreements and journalists looking to make names for themselves.

Such a shame, huh?

That is all.

Texans Are Not Ready to Accept Freezing Blackouts as Their “New Normal”

Hey, some of you probably thought I was dead. Well, sorry, Democrats, no such luck. Didn’t have another heart event, didn’t contract the ‘rona, the website isn’t down again. So yay on all of that.

What did happen, though, is we have no power at our home. Haven’t had any since 6:00 a.m. Monday, and it now looks like we won’t have any again until Friday at the earliest. In case you hadn’t heard, the entire state of Texas looks an awful lot like Alaska right now. Ok, well, West Texas looks more like South Dakota, but you get the picture. We’re covered up in snow and ice, the low temperature where I live near Fort Worth was -1 Fahrenheit this morning, we haven’t seen a temperature at my house above freezing since last Wednesday, and won’t see one until Friday. Again, that’s if we’re lucky.

Guess what? Texas does not do a good job of preparing for this kind of weather event. Which makes sense given that we don’t see this kind of stuff but about once a decade. However, we do see it. The last time we had a similar event was exactly a decade ago, in fact, on February 2-3, 2011.

So, while it is understandable, I suppose, that the folks at the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) admit that they simply do not have contingency plans for this kind of severe winter event, I can’t help wondering why not? After all, the rolling blackouts they implemented 10 years ago during that ice event caused a public uproar that resulted in a series of hearings and rulemakings that were supposed to help ensure the grid’s resiliency was fortified to withstand exactly this sort of weather.

Yet, here we are again, and no one at ERCOT or the state’s main infrastructure provider – ONCOR – appears capable of providing a coherent answer why. Frankly, I’m beginning to wonder if we shouldn’t just force ERCOT to take the “R” – for Reliability – out of its name to make it more properly descriptive of what it is the agency actually does. Or rename it “ERSCOT”, with the S standing for “semi-“.

Texans have in recent years made a sport out of making fun of California for its having faded into near-3rd world status where its power grid is concerned. Trust me, that’s a ton of fun. Rolling blackouts and brownouts have become a way of life for Californians as the Democrat policymakers there force their grid to rely far too much on intermittent energy sources like wind and solar at the expense of reliable baseload generation, which must be provided by fossil fuels like natural gas and coal, or by nuclear plants.

Unfortunately, and with little public fanfare, the Republican-led Texas government has also allowed wind power to take a steadily-growing role in the state’s power generation mix over the past decade. Last year, in fact, wind surpassed coal in terms of the percentage of electricity provided to the ERCOT-managed grid, delivering 23% of the total mix, coming in second only to natural gas power plants.

That’s all great so long as you’re willing to pay the price, much of which becomes hidden from ratepayers by ERCOT and the state’s electricity providers, so everybody can pretend to be happy about “going green.” It’s also not so great when well over half the turbines in the state freeze up in near-zero temperatures and 3-12 inches of snowfall.

In the wake of the 2011 event, which was caused mainly by coal-fired plants tripping offline as they froze up and ERCOT’s rolling blackouts including several very large natural gas compressor stations, which caused several natural gas power plants to also go offline, reforms were mandated to prevent ERCOT from denying electricity to those compressor stations. We do not yet know if those reforms worked or not, but several of the state’s natural gas pipeline companies have been experiencing deliverability issues over the last couple of days, so ERCOT’s silence on the matter does make you wonder.

Texas policymakers simply must act in the wake of this event to ensure that the state’s power grid is resilient enough to withstand this kind of severe winter weather event. It is an incredibly dangerous situation when more than 3 million Texans are without power as temperatures remain below freezing for a full week. Texas might look like Alaska and South Dakota right now, but Texans are simply not prepared to deal with this kind of weather for even a couple of days, much less for a week or more.

Californians have been conditioned by their Democrat policymakers to accept this sort of rolling blackout situation as their “new normal” so they can all virtue signal about how “green” they all are. Texans, on the other hand, would rather be warm and safe in their homes than waste time virtue signaling about the environment. Again, trust me on this: Ain’t nobody in Texas ready to happily accept this crap as a “new normal” in their lives.

The state’s policymakers had better take advantage of this disastrous situation to act to really improve the resiliency of the state’s power grid, or there will be hell to pay in next year’s elections.

This situation is simply not acceptable, even if it only happens once a decade. Enough is enough.

I’ll post more when I can.

That is all.

Saturday News Roundup: Gina Carano Rebounds as Lincoln Project Rats Flee the Sinking Ship

Today’s Short-Term Memory Update. – Just a reminder that the real violent riots that have plagued our society over the last four years have come from the BLM/Antifa left, two groups created and sponsored by the Democrat Party:

Today’s Global Climate Scam Update. – Just in case you are buying the bullsh*t coming from the government that this terrible arctic cold weather is due to “missing Arctic sea ice,” I just thought you ought to know that there is no missing Arctic sea ice. The extent of Arctic sea ice right now, today, is essentially unchanged from where it has averaged for the last 40 years.

May be an image of map and text

The more you know…

Today’s Be Thankful For Big Oil Update. – Watch this video. Play close attention to it, because it’s the absolute truth.
That truth is that our modern lives are not possible without oil, natural gas and other petroleum products, and there is no affordable, scalable alternative to them in existence today.

As you sit safely warm in your homes as everything is freezing outside for the next week, be thankful for “Big Oil,” because without Big Oil, you’d be freezing, too.

P.S.: The guy’s underwear is also made with petroleum products, but they’d have to rate the ad XXX if they made that disappear, too.

Fleeing like rats from a sinking ship. – The scandal-plagued DC Swamp grift called the Lincoln Project bled more members on Friday, as one of its founders, the piggish George Conway, accused the group of engaging in criminal activity by illegally accessing and publishing the Twitter private massages of Jennifer Horn, another ex-member who left the group earlier this week.

One of the group’s other co-founders, Steve Schmidt, announced he was quitting the scam after it was revealed on Thursday that he and everyone else involved had known about fellow founder and former McCain campaign manager John Weaver’s proclivity for sexually preying on young boys since at least last June and said nothing about it. In a transparent effort to garner sympathy and set up a narrative explaining why he didn’t blow the whistle on Weaver, Schmidt included, without providing evidence, a claim that he was molested when he was 13 years old by a Boy Scout leader. Because of course he did.

From a story at DailyWire:

Steve Schmidt, a GOP political operative and co-founder of The Lincoln Project, released a statement Friday claiming he was molested as a teenage Boy Scout. This came after news broke about his resignation from the anti-Trump organization.

Schmidt’s resignation is the latest consequence of the numerous allegations against Schmidt’s fellow co-founder John Weaver, who allegedly exhibited sexually predatory behavior toward young men in exchange for career advancement, according to Axios.

One of the boys to whom Weaver reportedly spoke was only 14 years old at the time, according to one of the 21 alleged victims interviewed by The New York Times.

The super PAC, which the Associated Press reported paid most of the $90 million it raised to consulting firms with ties to the group’s founders and senior staff, has been hemorrhaging employees since the accusations against Weaver went public.

The Lincoln Project spokesperson Kurt Bardella, video series host Nayyera Haq, and columnist Tom Nichols also resigned Friday.

[End]

Maybe Schmidt was molested, maybe he wasn’t, but it would be taking a page right out of the playbook of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez to just invent such a story as a means of garnering public sympathy and shifting blame for one’s own despicable actions – or in Schmidt’s case, his inaction. Molested or not, nothing absolves Schmidt and the rest of the Lincoln Project creep grifters from failing to do something about the inappropriate behavior of their partner and de facto leader.

With Friday’s defections, the only high-profile grifter remaining among the original founders is Rick Wilson, a lifelong circus clown who always has been slow on the uptake, which helps explain why he has managed so many losing campaigns. Wilson is perhaps the most repugnant of the entire bunch, though, so it’s no surprise he’s the last hanger-on in this massive scam.

I write much more about this pack of professional sleazeballs elsewhere this morning in Today’s Required Reading. Go read it.

Gina Carano Refuses to be cancelled by the Perpetual Outrage Mob. – Fresh from being fired by the Nazi goons at Disney for tweeting the truth about the current state of American culture, actress Gina Carano announced on Friday that she has agreed to a new production/acting gig with DailyWire.

From the story at DailyWire:

Two days after Gina Carano was reportedly axed by Disney “in what critics alleged was a politically-motivated hit,” The Daily Wire announced that they will be partnering with the former Mandalorian actress, who will “produce and star in an upcoming film exclusively for Daily Wire members.”

On Friday, The Daily Wire announced that it would be partnering with Carano to produce an upcoming film exclusively for Daily Wire members. “The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered,” Carano said in a statement. (The Daily Wire is offering a 25% discount for new members with the Carano-themed promo code “GINA.”)

“I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob,” Carano said. “I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

After the exclusive Deadline report broke, news of Carano’s partnership with The Daily Wire immediately went viral, with massive media coverage of what can only be described as a complete rejection of cancel culture.

[End]

Cool.

Today’s Impeachment Scam Update. – Just a reminder that the Democrats in congress are attempting to impeach Donald Trump for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Which is exactly what they did following the 2016 election:

Projection. That’s what the Democrats do. In fact, it’s pretty much all they do.

Today’s Required Reading: Glenn Greenwald Eviscerates the Grifters at the Lincoln Project

If you read only one thing today, let this be it. Writing at Substack, liberal opinionist/reporter Glenn Greenwald published one of the greatest takedowns of a classic DC Swamp grift operation in American history on Friday. In about 2,000 words, Greenwald fully exposes the sleaze merchants who created the Lincoln Project and are now fleeing it like rats from a sinking ship, and the corrupt media hacks who provided them with hundreds of hours of free air time during last year’s presidential campaign.

The result is truly one of the most epic rhetorical takedowns I’ve ever seen. It’ll take you about 20 minutes to read the full thing, but trust me, you will be happy you took the time.

Here are some excerpts to whet your appetite:

The group of life-long Republican Party consultants who, under the name “The Lincoln Project,” got very rich in 2020 with anti-Trump online messaging has spent weeks responding to numerous scandals on multiple fronts. Despite the gravity of those scandals, its conduct on Thursday night was in a whole new category of sleaze. It not only infuriated their long-time allies, but also constituted the abuse of Twitter’s platform to commit likely illegal acts.

That the primary effect of the Lincoln Project was to personally enrich its key operatives by cynically exploiting the fears of U.S. liberals has long been obvious. Reporting throughout 2020 conclusively demonstrated that the vast majority of the tens of millions of dollars raised by the group was going to firms controlled by its founders. One of its most prominent founders — GOP consultant Rick Wilson — personally collected $65,000 from liberals through GoFundMe for an anti-Trump film he kept promising but which never came; to this date, he refuses to explain what he did with that money.

study conducted after the 2020 election found that the group’s effect on the election’s outcome was trivial to non-existent — not surprising given its penchant for spending money on ads that aired in electorally irrelevant places such as Washington, D.C. or which circulated almost exclusively in liberal cable news and social media venues, and thus had no purpose other than to enable its consultants to take large commissions from the ad spending. They were producing ads solely for liberals, with the overriding intent not of defeating Trump but inflating their net worth. And it worked: until they were no longer needed.

Not only have the Lincoln Project’s boisterous leaders fallen completely silent, but they also are refusing to answer basic questions about what happened here. Earlier this morning, I submitted a list of questions to them (published below) and they have failed to respond in any way, including even with their characteristic fake bravado, insults and threats.

They have transformed into meek, mute little mice, hiding somewhere out of sight. Anyone who has their best interests at heart should hope they are huddled in their criminal lawyers’ offices. All of this silence and hiding and evasion is particularly ironic given the Abraham Lincoln quote they chose to define themselves, that still sits atop their now-dormant Twitter profile, which admonishes: “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.” Indeed.

From the start, it was obvious that this disgraceful collapse was the inevitable end for this group. The very idea that this freakish hodgepodge of life-long D.C. Republican consultants were men of profound conscience defending the Republic was a complete and total joke. They are life-long grifters, responsible for some of the most grotesque and amoral attack ads in the modern era, with a very long and recent history of advocating the exact opposite values of what they claimed to represent once they opportunistically identified the optimal Trump-era profit model: namely, relentlessly fleece scared and gullible #Resistance liberals of their cash by posturing as brave and principled warriors against Trumpism.

But their lucrative scheme could never have succeeded without the knowingly fraudulent cooperation of liberal networks such as MSNBC and CNN. Over and over, those Democratic Party spokespeople masquerading as TV journalists — knowing exactly who these bottom-feeding GOP operatives have always been — encouraged their misguided and trusting viewers to regard the Lincoln Project as a selfless and noble bulwark against Trumpism rather than the scamming, grifting, lowlife con it so obviously was from the start.

What this sorry episode reveals above all else is that much of American liberalism, including its all-but-official arm in corporate media, replicated, in the name of combatting Trump, every unethical tactic, every deceitful method, and every toxic assault on basic decency that they insisted Trump singularly represented.

Go read the whole thing. Just do it. You can thank me later.

Ducklo Bullying Shows White House Callous Attitude Towards Women

This is how you act when you believe you’re bullet proof. – Biden Deputy Press Secretary T.J. Ducklo became the subject of a bullying scandal on Friday when it was revealed he he had threatened a Politico reporter, Tara Palmeri, when she questioned him about an affair he had been conducting with a reporter for Axios.  It seems that the White House press corps is just a swirling soap opera of sexual shenanigans.

You didn’t have to worry about these things during the Trump administration, since everyone hated one another. But in a Democrat administration, they’re all trying to get each other into bed. And Ducklo thinks he can get away with this kind of behavior because his bosses will have his back.

Sadly, he’s pretty much right, given that his immediate boss, Jen Psaki circled back to him with just a one-week suspension.

From the story at Vanity Fair:

AWhite House official tried to quash a story about his relationship with a reporter by issuing threats and using derogatory language to another reporter pursuing it, according to two sources familiar with the incident. In a sympathetic profile Monday, People revealed that White House Deputy Press Secretary TJ Ducklo is dating Axios political reporter Alexi McCammond, who covered the Joe Biden campaign. But behind the scenes, Ducklo had previously lashed out at Politico reporter Tara Palmeri, who was reporting the story, exhibiting behavior that led to tense meetings between the Washington news outlet’s editors and senior White House officials.

After Vanity Fair published this account, the White House announced that Ducklo would be suspended for one week.

The confrontation began on Inauguration Day, January 20, after Palmeri, a coauthor of Politico’s Playbook, contacted McCammond for comment while one of her male colleagues left a message for Ducklo, according to the sources. Ducklo subsequently called a Playbook editor to object to the story, but was told to call the Playbook reporters with his concerns. But instead of calling the male reporter who initially contacted him, Ducklo tried to intimidate Palmeri by phone in an effort to kill the story. “I will destroy you,” Ducklo told her, according to the sources, adding that he would ruin her reputation if she published it.

During the off-the-record call, Ducklo made derogatory and misogynistic comments, accusing Palmeri of only reporting on his relationship—which, due to the ethics questions that factor into the relationship between a journalist and White House official, falls under the purview of her reporting beat—because she was “jealous” that an unidentified man in the past had “wanted to fuck” McCammond “and not you.” Ducklo also accused Palmeri of being “jealous” of his relationship with McCammond. (Palmeri had no prior relationship or communication with McCammond before calling her to report on the Playbook item, which was a story that she was assigned and had not independently pursued.)

[End]

So, the guy gets a one-week suspension without pay from the White House for the act of bullying and threatening a female reporter, an infraction for which he’d be walked out of the building permanently by security in the real world. But hey, these are 21st century leftists who don’t really give a damn about women’s rights, as evidenced on their policies that discriminate against actual women in favor of men who “identify” as girls.

For more background on Mr. Ducklo, check out this story from the Washington Free Beacon:

Here’s an excerpt from the story:

Ducklo’s misogynistic outburst is even more problematic considering his history of employment. His role as Biden’s deputy press secretary is not the first time Ducklo has flacked for someone accused of sexual assault.

For example, Ducklo was the senior communications director for NBC News between 2018 and 2019, when the network was struggling to contain the fallout from the numerous sexual assault allegations leveled against disgraced daytime host Matt Lauer. Journalist Ronan Farrow has accused senior NBC News executives of turning a blind eye to Lauer’s predatory behavior and of actively thwarting his efforts to report on disgraced Democratic donor Harvey Weinstein’s history of misconduct.

Ducklo may or may not have interacted with Weinstein when he did communications for the Motion Picture Association of America from 2011 to 2014. He definitely hung out with the group’s chairman, former senator Chris Dodd (D., Conn.), who is best known for making a “waitress sandwich” with the late Ted Kennedy, among other forms of disreputable behavior toward women.

Dodd, who served on Biden’s vice presidential selection committee in 2020, was exceedingly reluctant to weigh in on the (in some cases criminal) allegations against Weinstein, whom he called a “friend” who was “very helpful to me as a candidate for Congress and as a senator over the years.” Anita Dunn, one of Ducklo’s colleagues in the Biden White House, went so far as to provide Weinstein with “damage control advice” as the disgraced producer sought to avoid being convicted on rape charges.

Today’s Required Reading: NYTimes Liberal Urges California to Double Down on Failure

This morning, in a piece about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, I wrote that “Liberalism/leftism is a mental disease that robs people of the ability to connect their own voting actions to the societal pathologies that plague their lives.”

Today’s Required Reading returns to New York, where liberal New York Times writer Ezra Klein literally personifies that dictum in an op/ed published on Thursday. In the piece titled “California Is Making Liberals Squirm,” Klein, a California native who has now returned to his home state, writes about the idiotic Democrat policy choices over the past 40 years that have transformed the Golden State into an aspiring 3rd-world country, lamenting their abject failure to deliver the promises made by the cynical politicians who produced them.

Then, to prove the accuracy of the “liberalism is a mental disease” thesis once and for all, he concludes his piece by advocating that California Democrats double down on the same failed policies. The utter lack of any ability whatsoever to reason logically present in the piece is truly stunning.

Trudging through this ~1500 word piece of sophistry and painful illogic is difficult, but those who wish to truly understand how the liberal mind works – or doesn’t work, actually – should invest the 10-12 minutes to do it.  It might make you want to slit your wrists afterwards at the thought that Klein is actually far from the dumbest leftist employed by the New York Times, but you’ll be better educated for having done so.

Here’s an excerpt to whet your appetite:

You may have heard that San Francisco’s Board of Education voted 6 to 1 to rename 44 schools, stripping ancient racists of their laurels, but also Abraham Lincoln and Senator Dianne Feinstein. The history upon which these decisions were made was dodgy, and the results occasionally bizarre. Paul Revere, for instance, was canceled for participating in a raid on Indigenous Americans that was actually a raid on a British fort.

In normal times, bemusement would be the right response to a story like this. Cities should have idiosyncratic, out-there politics. You need to earn your “Keep X weird” bumper stickers. And for all the Fox News hosts who’ve collapsed onto their fainting couches, America isn’t suffering from a national shortage of schools named for Abraham Lincoln.

But San Francisco’s public schools remain closed, no matter the name on the front. “What I cannot understand is why the School Board is advancing a plan to have all these schools renamed by April, when there isn’t a plan to have our kids back in the classroom by then,” Mayor London Breed said in a statement. I do not want to dismiss the fears of teachers (or parents), many living in crowded homes, who fear returning to classrooms during a pandemic. But the strongest evidence we have suggests school openings do not pose major risks when proper precautions are followed, and their continued closure does terrible harm to students, with the worst consequences falling on the neediest children. And that’s where this goes from wacky local news story to a reflection of a deeper problem.

The median price for a home in California is more than $700,000. As Bloomberg reported in 2019, the state has four of the nation’s five most expensive housing markets and a quarter of the nation’s homeless residents. The root of the crisis is simple: It’s very, very hard to build homes in California. When he ran for governor in 2018, Gavin Newsom promised the construction of 3.5 million housing units by 2025. Newsom won, but California has built fewer than 100,000 homes each year since. In Los Angeles, Mayor Eric Garcetti persuaded Angelenos to pass a new sales tax to address the city’s homelessness crisis, but the program has fallen far behind schedule, in part because homeowners fought the placing of shelters in their communities.

There is a danger — not just in California, but everywhere — that politics becomes an aesthetic rather than a program. It’s a danger on the right, where Donald Trump modeled a presidency that cared more about retweets than bills. But it’s also a danger on the left, where the symbols of progressivism are often preferred to the sacrifices and risks those ideals demand. California, as the biggest state in the nation, and one where Democrats hold total control of the government, carries a special burden. If progressivism cannot work here, why should the country believe it can work anywhere else?

[End]

*sigh*

A Tragic Day in Texas

A tragic day in Texas. – Below is a photo of a 133-car  pileup that took place just south of Downtown Fort Worth on I-35W Wednesday morning. At least 6 people were killed and dozens were injured, as the entire North Texas/Central Texas region was plagued by below-freezing temperatures and freezing drizzle that turned roads into skating rinks.

This is just heartbreaking. Pray for the families involved.

May be an image of road and text that says 'EXPRESS LANE HOV $ $23 HIGHER TESF OR LARGER'

This also happened in Texas Wednesday:

From the story at the New York Post (because most Texas news outlets could not be bothered to report it):

A 12-year-old Texas boy who felt “sad and lonely” amid the coronavirus lockdown measures hanged himself, his father revealed in a report about the tragedy.

Hayden Hunstable, of Aledo, took his own life three days before his 13th birthday in April 2020 because he didn’t know how to deal with the isolation and depression when the emerging disease caused a nationwide shutdown, the UK’s Metro reported.

The boy’s 9-year-old sister, Kinlee, found him hanged in his bedroom, according to the outlet.

Hayden’s heartbroken dad, Brad, 42, spoke to Metro to help prevent future suicides among the nation’s youth.

“COVID killed my son. I think Hayden would still be alive today if COVID had never happened,” the father of three told the outlet. “I had no idea he was struggling or depressed — he was such a happy kid and loved his friends and family.”

[End]

Not to argue with the child’s father, but COVID did not kill Hayden. What led this boy to take his own life was the reactions by adults to COVID-19. This is the price of Anthony Fauci’s daily moving of the goalposts related to COVID-19 and of governors, Democrat and Republican alike, slavishly following the advice of Fauci and other “experts” who so gleefully exert their tyrannical control over the American people.

Hayden is just one of thousands of suicides that have taken place over the past 11 months that would not have occurred had it not been for the tyranny of these “experts” and the policymakers who have blindly followed them. Thousands more have needlessly died of drug overdoses during that same time. Additional thousands have died because they were prevented from receiving the health care they needed for other health issues.

This is the real cost of this nation’s insane response to COVID-19, and the corrupt news media refuses to even report on it. Sadly, no one in the media will bother to ask Fauci if he believes his constantly-shifting pronouncements bear responsibility for Hayden’s death, or ask the same question of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who has blindly followed the advice of Fauci and his own “experts” in Texas as a means of providing political cover for his stupid, economy and society-killing decisions.

Make no mistake here: COVID did not kill Hayden. Power-hungry adults who should know better did.

That is all.

Friday News Roundup: Disney Fires Gina Carano for Telling the Truth as More Cuomo Complicity Comes to Light

Well, of course they did. This is what mass killers do. – Andrew Cuomo and his administration have now admitted to systematically under-reporting the number of nursing home deaths in New York caused by Cuomo’s policy of sending elderly patients infected with COVID-19 back to their nursing homes while still contagious. Cuomo’s top aide admitted on Thursday to the under-reporting, saying she did it due to fear of a potential federal investigation.

Naturally, the aide, a dissembling leftist hack named Melissa DeRosa, blame her actions on mean tweets by…wait for it…President Donald Trump. I swear I do not make this stuff up:

From a story at the New York Post:

Governor Cuomo’s top aide privately apologized to Democratic lawmakers for withholding the state’s nursing-home death toll from COVID-19 — telling them “we froze” out of fear the true numbers would “be used against us” by federal prosecutors, The Post has learned.

The stunning admission of a cover-up was made by Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa during a video conference call with state Democratic leaders in which she said the Cuomo administration had rebuffed a legislative request for the tally in August because “right around the same time, [then-President Donald Trump] turns this into a giant political football,” according to an audio recording of the two-hour-plus meeting.

“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” [Hint: That’s exactly what they did] DeRosa said. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

In addition to attacking Cuomo’s fellow Democratic governors, DeRosa said, Trump “directs the Department of Justice to do an investigation into us.”

“And basically, we froze,” she told the lawmakers on the call.

“Because then we were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation.”

DeRosa added: “That played a very large role into this.”

[End]

It is truly depressing and frankly frightening that so many ghouls just like Cuomo and DeRosa have risen to power in America today. It’s also depressing to know that Cuomo would easily be re-elected if he were to run again, even after causing the needless deaths of thousands of New Yorkers, or that DeRosa would easily win the governor’s office in the state should she become the Democrat nominee.

Liberalism/leftism is a mental disease that robs people of the ability to connect their own voting actions to the societal pathologies that plague their lives. Andrew Cuomo’s political career is living proof of that fact.

CNN is complicit in Cuomo’s mass-killings, too. – While Cuomo was ordering thousands of elderly New Yorkers to their deaths in the state’s nursing homes and DeRosa was helping him hide the real numbers, this is how the corrupt media hacks at CNN were covering the story:

Despicable. Let us never forget that the American media writ large literally lionized Cuomo as a role model for other governors to follow even as he was killing thousands of elderly New Yorkers. The media is complicit. Period.

You’re calling us Nazis??? Well, we’ll see about that! – Mandalorian star Gina Carano put up a tweet recently comparing the social and political climate in the United States to that of pre-WWII Nazi Germany.

As if to absolutely prove her point is 100% correct, Disney fired her for exercising her right to free speech and telling the truth.

You just could never make this stuff up, folks. Don’t even try.

Excerpt from the story at DailyWire:

Disney faced widespread backlash late on Wednesday after a production company that they own announced that it had parted ways with conservative actress Gina Carano after the actress posted some things to social media that some claimed were offensive.

One post, which was a screenshot of someone else’s post that she uploaded to her own account, compared the current divisive political climate in the U.S. to events that took place in Nazi Germany, which critics claimed was her equating Republicans with Jews in Nazi Germany.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” Lucasfilm, a production company owned by Disney, said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Disney’s firing of Carano sparked instant widespread backlash online with “#CancelDisneyPlus” rocketing to the very top of Twitter’s trending news list. Carano was one of the stars on Disney+’s “The Mandalorian.”

In response to Carano’s firing, critics noted how Disney rehired a director that had been fired over disturbing sexually explicit tweets, Disney’s business dealings in communist China, and other controversies that the company has faced in recent years.

“Gina Carano’s post made the point that mass violence starts with hatred for your neighbor,” Daily Caller editor Katrina Haydon wrote. “This is not only uncontroversially true but also one perspective of the commandment to love your neighbor. That idea is not a call to empty niceness. It’s how you prevent suffering.”

“The point that Gina Carano’s post made isn’t even a ‘wild take,’ and she certainly isn’t the first person to get cancelled for viewpoints that differ from the woke mob,” Daily Caller reporter Shelby Talcott added. “What a dangerous, sad era to live in — where expressing a particular view could cost you your livelihood.”

[End]

And so, the woke Perpetual Outrage Mob on Twitter gets its way one more time, and the only well-acted character on The Mandalorian will simply disappear into the ether, likely killing the series for good after one more season. But destroying good things is the Perpetual Outrage Mob’s core competency, so no surprise there.

Pot, Meet Kettle Tweet of the Century:

Hooboy.

Today’s Short Term Memory Reminder. – Hey, remember last week, when I told you that all the members of the Lincoln Project who were out in the media claiming they never knew about the pedo-sexual proclivities of the group’s founder, John Weaver, were lying? Remember how I told you they all knew, that it was impossible for them not to have known, that many in Washington had in fact known about Weaver for 20 years, since he served as campaign manager for John McCain’s failed 2000 presidential campaign? Remember how some members of the Lincoln Project were out there threatening to sue anyone who told that truth about them and Mr. Weaver?

Well, gee, yesterday the Daily Caller ran this story:

Here’s an excerpt:

The Lincoln Project previously expressed shock over allegations against its co-founder John Weaver, but new reporting claims that Lincoln Project members knew of allegations against Weaver as early as June of last year.

Lincoln Project members were made aware of at least 10 allegations of harassment against Weaver in June 2020, the Associated Press reported. The group did not take action against Weaver as it continued its high-profile work combatting the re-election of former President Donald Trump.

Nevertheless, the Lincoln Project expressed shock in January over the allegations against Weaver.

“The totality of his deceptions are beyond anything any of us could have imagined and we are absolutely shocked and sickened by it,” the group said in a January statement.

The Lincoln Project did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Two of the allegations involved Lincoln Project employees, persons with direct knowledge of the situation told the AP. This is the first known suggestion that Weaver targeted staffers within the Lincoln Project, the publication reported.

Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt has also said that Lincoln Project leaders were not aware of allegations of Weaver’s wrongdoing.

[End]

Steve Schmidt, George Conway, and all the rest: Liars.

Glenn Greenwald captured the essence of the Lincoln Project in this tweet:

Thus, the Lincoln Project is conclusively revealed to be what anyone familiar with how the DC Swamp works knew it was from day one: A classic DC Swamp grift, the classic sort of money scam that has been the life’s blood of Swamp denizens for as long as DC has existed. This one happened to be led by a pedophile, but hey, it’s not the first time that has happened, either.

That is all.

“Demolition Man”: A Movie 28 Years Ahead of its Time

Guest Piece by America’s History Teacher, Larry Schweikart

Demolition Man World

Current events have many people dredging up George Orwell’s 1984 or Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World.

Perhaps.

But the current state of America—and much of the world, it seems—is closer to the (in retrospect) great 1993 movie Demolition Man starring Sylvester Stallone as the wrongly-accused Lieutenant John Spartan, condemned to frozen hybernation for collateral damage to civilians, and his nemesis Simon Phoenix (a blond-haired Wesley Snipes). A terrific supporting cast included Benjamin Bratt, Nigel Hawthorne, Bob Gunton, Dennis Leary, and Rob Schneider not to mention a smokin’ Sandra Bullock. Spartan, who captured Simon Phoenix in 1996, is thawed out when Phoenix escapes during a probation hearing. Snipes’ Phoenix is thoroughly brutal and ruthless, yet always with a dash of Joker-esque manic humor. Stallone’s John Spartan is also quite funny, mainly for what he doesn’t get about the 21st century (especially the use of three seashells for, er, cleaning onesself after a #2). Reiner’s character finds it hysterical: “He doesn’t know how to use the shells.”

Demolition Man, though, was oddly prescient. As both Phoenix and Spartan arrive 36 years after the Big Freeze, they find a world that is nearly perfect. There is so little crime that police are armed only with stun-wands and the public is so docile that simple commands—“Stop right there!”—actually elicit compliance. All grounds are beautifully manicured. People (in San Angeles—note that City of the Angles has now become the city of Saint Angels)) walk around in long robes and fine dining is at Taco Bell, which in the food consolidation Franchise Wars beat out all competitors. It takes no time for Simon Phoenix to realize that this new, de-testicled world, is ripe for plunder. He doesn’t hesitate to beat up officers, blow up one of their electric cars by dropping a stun-wand into the fuel-charger socket, and, yes, killing people, which triggers a “187.” This code is so antiquated that only the oldest sergeant can interpret it: “MurderDeathKill.” During his cryostasis, Phoenix picked up a host of new abilities, including advanced karate and other violent skills, making him more than a match for any half-dozen of the useless London Bobbies who seek to restrain him. Soon it dawns on Chief George Earle (Gunton) that he needs something his department doesn’t possess: a cop as ruthless as Phoenix. John Spartan is taken out of the deep freeze and reports for duty to the police station where he befriends Lenina Huxley (Bullock).

The new world in which he finds himself has ubiquitous devices to dispense fines for profanity (and, one suspects, other things such as spitting on the sidewalk or not using a turn signal . . . or wearing a mask). Riding with Huxley and patrolman Garcia (Bratt), Spartan is both bemused and disgusted that their idea of fun is singing along to radio commercials of the 1960s. When finally, after displaying his manly attributes to Huxley in defeating baddies, Spartan is invited to have sex, he is chagrined to find that all physical contact is verboten. (Even in celebrating, instead of high fives, Bullock and Reiner stop their hands inches apart and “wax on, wax off” in the air). Something that seemed innocently ridiculous in 1996 has now become a reality in China Virus America.

Demolition Man Society is a two-tiered structure. The Haves and the Have-nots. The Haves live above ground, dine at chez Taco Bell, dress well, are, of course, uber clean and socially proper. They are, appropriately, led by a scientist, Dr. Cocteau (Dr. Cock Toe?) who has a “trust the science” approach to everything. The Have-nots live underground. They are smelly, deplorable urban hill-billies who eat ratburgers, bathe infrequently, speak their minds, curse, and, yes, know all about weapons. Their leader, the appropriately-named Edgar Friendly (Dennis Leary) is the symbol of freedom in the film. As powerful as the Haves are, they dare not go to Friendly’s subterranean Deplorable dwellings, for even their military might isn’t sufficient there. (This, of course, doesn’t mention the fact that their military might is an emasculated, feminized army of transgender scientifically-approved fem-bots with stun-wands.)

Ultimately, only the brutal masculinity of John Spartan can defeat Phoenix. An appropriate chase scene with Phoenix in the Tesla-electric car and Spartan in an Olds 442 ensues as they both head to a final battle in the cryoprison. (It is fitting that the future of hell is not flames, but a frozen void . . . created by a planetary response to global warming?) Sparan defeats Phoenix by firing cryo-plasm at him, then knocking his frozen head off. In the end, Phoenix was not human, but prehistoric ice.

Before being detached from his head, it is revealed, Phoenix had in fact made an alliance with Dr. Cocteau, who has programmed Phoenix in such a way that he was prohibited from killing Cocteau. Phoenix evades this command by simply having his lackeys murder the good doctor. Even the pure and seemingly noble scientist, with the best intentions for humankind, needed the thuggish Phoenix to implement perfection. And the creation turned on the creator.

For all its predictable jokes and the sometimes over-the-top cackling by Snipes (who was still basking in the glow of his performance as Nino Brown in “New Jack City”), “Demolition Man” has proven a prescient vision of the future from 1996. Let’s hope a John Spartan and an Edgar Friendly can join forces in real life to spare us from Dr. Cocteau’s perfect world.

Today’s Required Reading: Tucker Carlson Exposes Democrats’ False Capitol Riot Narrative

In his opening monologue last night, Fox News Host Tucker Carlson – the only show on Fox worth viewing anymore – completely exposed the false narrative the Democrats are pushing about the Capitol Riot of January 6 in their sham impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump.

It’s a fairly long read, as these Required Readings tend to be, but it’s something everyone should read if they wish to know the truth about what really happened on that day in Washington, DC. Because the truth has nothing to do with the false narrative the Democrats are peddling to you right now.

Here it is:

It’s funny how change happens. You thought the big change came on Election Day, when the incumbent president lost, but that turned out to be nothing compared to the change that came two months later.

On Jan. 6, supporters of Donald Trump swarmed the Capitol building. Some forced their way inside, and Washington has never been the same. It may never be the same. As a result of what happened on Jan. 6, your descendants will live in a very different country. Some in Congress have compared that day to 9/11. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has likened it to Pearl Harbor, which spurred America’s entry into the Second World War.

Every day we hear new and more florid comparisons from Democratic partisans. But Tuesday night, CNN outdid all of them by comparing what happened Jan. 6 to the Rwandan genocide.

Keep in mind that close to a million people were murdered in Rwanda in 1994, about 70% of all ethnic Tutsis in the country. Entire towns were hacked to death with machetes. People were set on fire and crushed alive by bulldozers. Hundreds of thousands of women were raped. It was among the most horrifying crimes in human history.

How does a country recover from something like that? Well, first, obviously, you punish the guilty quickly and severely. Then, and this is more important, you set about reordering your society from top to bottom to make certain nothing like that ever happens again. So you purge the military, suspend basic civil liberties, send troops to the capital, tear down the old, destroy all vestiges of the past in order to save the future.

However, before we remake America to prevent future genocide at the Capitol, maybe we should know a little bit more about the crime that occurred on Jan. 6, if only to understand the justification for overturning our lives permanently. What exactly did happen that day? You may be surprised to learn how little we know, even now. In fact, it’s remarkable how many of the most basic questions remain unanswered more than a month after the fact.

Let’s start with the headline of the day: Five Americans died on the Capitol grounds on Jan. 6. You’ve heard that, but it doesn’t really tell you very much. It’s the details, as always, that matter. Who were these people and how did they die? That’s how you understand what actually happened.

So with that in mind, here are the facts: Four of the five who died that day were Trump supporters. The fifth was a Capitol Hill police officer who apparently also supported Donald Trump. Why is this relevant? Of course, the political views of the deceased shouldn’t matter, but unfortunately, in this case, they do. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and many other elected Democrats claim the mob was coming for them that day. Yet the only recorded casualties on Jan. 6 were people who voted for Donald Trump.

The first among them was a 34-year-old woman from Georgia called Rosanne Boyland. Authorities initially announced that Boyland died of a “medical emergency”. Later video footage suggested she may have accidentally been trampled by the crowd. We’re still not sure, but that’s the best guess.

The second casualty was 55-year-old Kevin Greeson, who died of heart failure while talking to his wife on a cell phone outside the Capitol. “Kevin had a history of high blood pressure,” his wife later said, “and in the midst of the excitement, suffered a heart attack.”

The third was 50-year-old Benjamin Phillips of Ringtown, Pa. Phillips was a Trump supporter who organized a bus trip to Washington for the rally that day. He died of a stroke on the grounds of the Capitol. There is no evidence that Phillips rioted or was injured by rioters or even went inside the Capitol building.

The fourth person to die, the only one from intentional violence, was 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt, a military veteran from San Diego. Babbitt was wearing a Trump cape when she was shot to death by a Capitol Hill police lieutenant. Babbitt’s death was caught on video, so hers is the best-documented death that took place that day. Yet it is surprising how little we know about it.

Babbitt was shot as she tried to crawl through a broken window into the Speaker’s Lobby within the Capitol, and that’s essentially the extent of what we know. Authorities have refused to release the name of the man who shot her or divulge any details of the investigation they say they’ve done. We may never know exactly why this unnamed Capitol Hill police officer took her life.

According to that officer’s attorney, “There is no way to look at the evidence and think that he is anything but a hero.” Of course, we can’t actually look at that evidence, because they’re withholding it. We can’t even know his identity. Killing an unarmed woman may be justified under certain specific circumstances, but since when is it heroic? When the dead woman has read QAnon websites? Republicans aren’t asking that question.

Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., has said he immediately hugged the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt and told him, “Listen, you did what you had to do.” Did the officer really have to do that? We don’t know. We do know that Ashli Babbitt was not holding a weapon when she was killed. Nevertheless, at the impeachment trial this week, Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I., described what happened at the Capitol as “an armed insurrection.”

Cicilline is a former mafia lawyer from Providence, so presumably he knows what it is to commit a felony with a firearm. There are no reports of rioters at the Capitol building Jan. 6 discharging weapons or threatening anyone with a gun. So what exactly is David Cicilline talking about?

Apparently, he’s referring to the death of Officer Brian Sicknick. In the hours after the riot, The New York Times reported that Trump supporters had brutally beaten Oficer Sicknick to death with a fire extinguisher. The news of Sicknick’s death by violence was quickly picked up by countless other media outlets that repeated and then amplified it.

That account forms the basis of the myth that Democrats have constructed around Jan. 6. Sicknick’s remains lay in honor at the Capitol building. Streams of politicians, who just months before had told us that cops were racist by definition, praised Brian Sicknick as a hero. They had finally found a police officer who served their political uses.

Just one problem: The story they told was a lie from beginning to end. Officer Sicknick was not beaten to death, with a fire extinguisher or anything else. According to an exhaustive and fascinating new analysis on Revolver News, there’s no evidence that Brian Sicknick was hit with a fire extinguisher at any point on Jan 6. The officer’s body apparently bore no signs of trauma. In fact, on the night of Jan. 6, long after rioters at the Capitol had been arrested or dispersed, Brian Sicknick texted his brother from his office. According to his brother, Sicknick said he’d been “pepper sprayed twice” but was otherwise “in good shape”. Twenty-four hours later, Officer Brian Sicknick was dead.

How did he die? The head of the Capitol police union has said he had a stroke. His body was cremated immediately, and authorities have refused to release his autopsy. No one has been charged in his death, and no charges are pending. Whatever happened to Brian Sicknick was tragic, obviously, but it was also very different from what they have told us. They have lied about how he died. They’ve lied about a lot.

How did this riot start, anyway? Was it a spontaneous event incited by a reckless president in a fit of vicious pique? Was the riot long-planned, the result of a conspiracy? Those are two theories of what happened and both cannon be true.

This weekend, former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund claimed in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that there was no intelligence suggesting that a riot might be imminent at the Capitol.

Apparently, the Washington Post has better sources than Sund. Days after Jan. 6, the newspaper reported that it was well-known that a group of Trump supporters was headed to the city to cause trouble. The FBI almost certainly knew this. They likely had paid informants in the ranks of protesters.

So if the authorities knew that violence might be coming to the Capitol, where was the necessary security? It wasn’t there.

We’re not sure what all this means and we’re not going to speculate. We do know for certain that the known facts of what happened on Jan. 6 deviate in very important ways from the story they are now telling us, including the story Democrats are telling in the impeachment trial. In many places, the known facts bear no resemblance to the story they’re telling. They’re just flat-out lying. There’s no question about that.

Thursday News Roundup: Jeep Blows $22 Million on Drunk Springsteen and the Double Mask Mandate is Coming Soon

My only question: Was Springsteen driving a Jeep?

The dimwits who run Jeep spent $22 million on a Super Bowl ad featuring Bruce Springsteen, one of the most obscene and irrational leftist critics of President Donald Trump, advocating for “national unity” now that the DC Swamp has installed a brain-addled, China-subservient sock puppet in the White House. The ad featured the washed-up 3-note rock star driving a Jeep across beautiful American – or maybe they were Chinese, who knows? – terrains into a serene sunset.

Anyway, you will never, never, never, ever see Jeep run that ad again, because yesterday the Hollywood Reporter revealed that Springsteen got himself arrested for DWI and reckless endangerment charges last year. I swear I am not making this stuff up.

From a glorious story at the New York Post:

He was Bombed in the USA!

Bruce Springsteen was arrested for DWI and reckless driving in his home state, it was revealed Wednesday — days after he appeared in a much-hyped Super Bowl commercial for Jeep.

The “Born to Run” icon, 71, was busted Nov. 14 at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, a spokesperson for the National Park Service said.

Springsteen was charged with DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area, the spokesperson said.

“Springsteen was cooperative throughout the process,” the spokesperson added.

According to TMZ, which first reported the arrest, the allegedly juiced Bruce has a court date in the coming weeks and has no known prior busts for DWI.

[End]

As I noted on Monday, the only way Jeep could have selected a more divisive face for its “unity” ad would have been for them to put Robert De Niro or Alec Baldwin behind the wheel. And that was before we knew about the DWI.

“Unity” is obviously a concept the people who run Jeep fail to adequately grasp. And so, $22 million just rolls right down the ol’ drain.

Cool.

DC Swamp Kabuki Theater Impeachment Scam Update. – I haven’t watched a minute of these impeachment proceedings and do not plan to do so. But Lindsey Graham obviously thinks things are going well for the defense:

Awesome. This concludes your DC Swamp Kabuki Theater Impeachment Scam Update for today.

Liberals, ca. 2011: “You’re a bigot if you object to a woman breast-feeding in public!!!!!!”
Liberals, ca. 2021: “You’re a trans-phobe bigot if you use the words ‘woman’ or ‘breast-feeding’!!!!!!!”

Washington Examiner:

Nurses advised to swap words such as ‘breast milk’ for the more inclusive ‘human milk’

*sigh*

Stock up on those masks, folks, because you will soon be required to wear two at a time. – That’s the inevitable message from yesterday’s advisory from the CDC that people should consider wearing two masks. Nevermind the reality that there is literally zero real scientific evidence that wearing masks do anything to stop the spread of COVID-19, the bureaucrats at Biden’s CDC released a “study” yesterday that claims to find the wearing of two masks to be oh, so much more effective than wearing just one:

From the sham story about the sham study at ABC News:

Fit matters when it comes to your mask protecting you against the virus that causes COVID-19, and layering a well-fitting cloth mask over a surgical mask is likely to prove beneficial, according to new findings released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It also doesn’t change the recommendation that primarily medical workers in high-risk environments should rely on N95 masks, which act as a strong filter against any contaminants but is notably tougher to breathe in and withstand for long periods of time.

Still, the experiment touches on some of the big questions Americans have on how best to protect themselves when mixing in public, such as grocery stores and airplanes.

The research suggests that when a person “double masks” — wearing a polypropylene surgical mask with a cloth mask on top — and the people around them did the same, the risk of transmitting the virus falls more than 95%.

Researchers, who used two mannequin-like forms to test exposure, found a similar benefit with tightening a single surgical mask around the ears to improve its fit. Using a hack known as a “knot and tuck,” the researchers ensured the surgical mask fits closely around the face without gaps.

[End]

Note the part I placed in bold there, buried in the 6th paragraph of the story: This “study” involved putting masks on freaking MANNEQUINS. Not real people, not monkeys, not even lab rats. MANNEQUINS.

This is what the CDC wants you to believe amounts to “science,” because they know that doing actual scientific studies would lead to findings that wearing masks doesn’t help stop the spread of this virus.

Let me tell you where this is all leading. Despite the sentence in the ABC story that says “The findings were not expected to lead to new mask recommendations by the CDC,” this sham study will inevitably lead to new mask recommendations by the CDC at some point in the near future.

And guess who is going to make damn sure that happens? If you guessed “Anthony Fauci,” you win the prize. Fauci, after all, kicked off this “two masks are better than one” process back in early January during one of his myriad TV appearances, claiming it was just “common sense.” That is what encouraged the CDC to conduct this sham study in the first place, despite the fact that Fauci was forced to admit during another TV appearance that he had no real data indicating that wearing two masks was effective.

At some point in the near future, the despotic Democrat governors will get into the act. One of them will be designated to become the first to issue a gubernatorial “two mask” mandate, and the others will line up to follow along. Soon, milquetoast GOP governors like Mike Dewine in Ohio and Kay Ivey in Alabama will jump on the bandwagon.

Next, all the Karens will be wearing their two masks and start assaulting people like you who only wear one mask in the produce section of the local grocery store as you’re picking out some avocados. Soon thereafter, your local grocery stores will begin posting two-mask requirements just so their managers don’t have to listen to all the obnoxious Karens bitch at them about it.

The Perpetual Outrage Crowd on Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms will all be signaling their virtue by posting photos of them forcing their 7 year-old kids to wear three masks to school just to be “safe” and digitally screaming at you for not being “good” like they are as their children struggle for breath behind them.

Next, probably no later than April or May, employers will start mandating that all employees start wearing two masks at all times, even those who work at home, because your CEOs all need to signal their virtue and absolute fealty to the state, too.

Then Anthony Fauci, in yet another appearance on CNN or MSNBC or maybe even with Bret Baier on Fox News, will say something like, you know, it just makes”common sense” for two masks to be required during all travel on airlines, buses, trains and hey, why not just go ahead and wear two masks in your own car just in case, you know?

Even though he will later be forced to admit that absolutely no data or scientific basis exists for this latest “common sense” mask advice, Democrat governors like Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer will issue another round of orders mandating double mask wearing in cars and the CDC will issue an advisory for all public forms of travel based on a “study” it conducted on crash test dummies in 1962 Corvairs and 1973 Pintos.

That is where this is all going, folks, and if you don’t believe me, you haven’t been paying attention to what’s already happened to you over the past 11 months.

When I turn out to be 100% correct here, you can give me a call and thank me for warning you – that is, if you can draw enough breath through the two masks you’re wearing because Anthony Fauci, the little menace to American society, told some CNN hack that “it just makes common sense” to wear two masks while talking on the phone, “because who knows where that thing has been?”

May be an image of one or more people

Mark Cuban’s No Good, Terrible, Very Bad Day

Wednesday was a no good, terrible, very bad day for Mark Cuban, the Dallas Mavericks, and the China-hugging creeps at the NBA. – The self-styled social justice warrior, ChiCom-hugging owner of the NBA franchise in Dallas made news late Tuesday when he confirmed to a reporter that the team was no longer playing the Star Spangled Banner at its home games at his personal direction. That news burst into the headlines and across social media, as outraged fans and enemies of the team and owner alike expressed their anger about the decision.

From a story at DailyWire:

Cuban confirmed to Cato that he was the one who decided the Mavs should pull the anthem.

“None of 13 preseason and regular-season games played at the American Airlines Center this season have featured the anthem before the game, including Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the first played this season with a limited amount of fans in attendance,” Cato reported Monday. “The Mavericks did not publicize the anthem’s removal, and The Athletic was the first media organization to reach out about the change after noticing its absence on Monday. Multiple team employees described only noticing the anthem’s removal on their own, as it was also not announced or explained internally.”

[End]

Note the statement from Cuban confirming that he was the one who made the decision.

The Dallas Stars NHL hockey team, which also plays in and co-owns the America Airlines Center where the Mavericks play and doesn’t want to be stained by Cuban’s stupidity and lack of patriotism, jumped in to assure their fans that they were not only continuing to play the anthem, but were proud to be Americans, unlike Cuban, many of his players, and most involved with the NBA, in fact.

Good for them. Makes me want to go watch a hockey game.

The NBA itself obviously quickly realized the potential damage Cuban’s actions could do to the entire league, which has already suffered tremendous reputational harm by allowing players to kneel while the anthem is being played. Its PR team got into action early in the afternoon with the release of a self-serving statement, because of course it did. That statement mandates that all NBA teams will continue playing the anthem “in keeping with longstanding league policy.”:

That policy may be “longstanding” but it obviously does not include the players standing, right? Right.

Cuban, fully chastened and humiliated by Dallas’s hockey franchise and the NBA, then went on ESPN to do an interview in which he claimed it was all a misunderstanding and that he never had any plans to permanently ban the playing of the national anthem. He further claimed that he and his management “always understood” that they would eventually start playing the anthem again.

From a story at ESPN:

In the wake of the NBA’s statement Wednesday reiterating its long-standing policy that “all teams will play the national anthem,” Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said during an appearance on ESPN’s The Jump that his organization has no problem playing the anthem “at all,” and that the decision to not do so to this point in the season was the product of ongoing conversations with members of the community who felt the tradition “did not fully represent them.”

Cuban on Tuesday had told ESPN that he had made the decision to stop playing the national anthem before home games after consulting with NBA commissioner Adam Silver. The Mavericks did not announce the change in policy, but the national anthem had not been played before any of their 13 preseason and regular-season games at the American Airlines Center this season.

“We’re always talking to our community. That’s something [Mavericks CEO Cynthia Marshall] stands for and is very insistent upon and has become a core part of who we are at the Dallas Mavericks,” Cuban told ESPN’s Rachel Nichols on Wednesday. “In listening to the community, there were quite a few people who voiced their concerns, really their fears that the national anthem did not fully represent them, that their voices were not being heard. So we’ve had a lot of conversations about whether or not we should play the anthem. And so during the first preseason game, we decided to not play it and just see what the response was, knowing that we were going to have ongoing conversations about it. We didn’t make any decision to never play the national anthem then — that wasn’t the case at all. We didn’t cancel the national anthem. We still had our flag flying proud up on the wall at the American Airlines Center and everybody had the opportunity to address it and pray to it or salute to it or whatever their feelings are.”

Cuban added that the organization had always discussed the fact that it would probably resume the playing of the anthem at some point, likely when fans were allowed back in the arena. The Mavericks did not have fans for their first 10 regular-season games before allowing 1,500 vaccinated essential workers to attend Monday’s game against Minnesota for free.

“There was never any final decision that was made that we would not play the anthem,” Cuban said.

[End]

Note this specific sentence: “We still had our flag flying proud up on the wall at the American Airlines Center and everybody had the opportunity to address it and pray to it or salute to it or whatever their feelings are.” This is the sentence that betrays Cuban’s real feelings on the matter. Only an unpatriotic clown would imply that any true American actually prays to the flag. The flag is not a religious symbol: it is a symbol of the country. If you don’t understand that distinction and why it is important, then you are a fool.

Also note that Cuban does not fully own the American Airlines Center: that is a joint ownership between the Mavericks and the Stars. He doesn’t get to decide whether or not to display the American flag, rendering that statement meaningless.

If you believe a word of what Cuban says there, you are what one of my former bosses would refer to as a “very credulous individual.” There can be little doubt that Mark Cuban’s true feelings on the matter were expressed when he banned the national anthem from being played in the arena.

For the record, I haven’t watched a full NBA game for a least 15 years now. But, as a friend told me yesterday, this is almost enough to make me wish I was still a fan so I could quit watching again.

That is all.

Wednesday News Roundup: Fauci Moves the COVID Goal Posts One More Time

Today’s Short-Term Memory Reminder -Donald Trump has been out of the White House for 3 weeks now, and the news cycle is still all about him.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is a very, very real thing.

God Bless Texas. – For the 19th straight year, Texas ranks #1 among all states in export value, chalking up $279 billion during 2020. California comes in a distant second with about $155 billion for the year. If Texas were an independent country as it was intended to be, it would rank 20th among all nations on earth.

No photo description available.

Who knows? If the Democrats keep moving the country into fascist socialism, Texas might end up becoming an independent nation again in the near future.

Stranger things have happened.

Just one more reason to detest the Dallas Mavericks specifically and the NBA in general. – Most readers here stopped watching NBA basketball years ago, but now the owner of the Dallas Mavericks has handed all you hangers-on one more reason to break the basketball habit: He has banned the National Anthem of the United States of America from being played at his arena before home games.

I swear I don’t make this stuff up:

From the story at DailyWire:

At the direction of owner Mark Cuban, the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks have stopped playing the national anthem before home games this season and do not intend to play it for home games moving forward.

As noted by Tim Cato, who broke the story at The Athletic on Monday evening, the anthem-snub by the Mavericks is “the first instance we know of a pro sports team striking the U.S. anthem from the pre-game.”

As the nation has become increasingly divided, traditionally unifying acts of patriotism, like standing for the national anthem, have become partisan. The anthem controversy was first sparked in 2016, when then-NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick politicized “The Star-Spangled Banner” when he refused to stand because, according to Kaepernick, America “oppresses” minorities and allows its cops to “murder” innocent people of color.

If you’re still watching NBA basketball, you seriously should consider finding better things to do with your time, like reading, playing games with your kids, or taking that whining dog out for a second walk in the evenings. You’ll be a happier person for having done so.

Well of course he did. – Hey, it turns out that China Joe Biden’s pick to be our next CIA chief, William Burns, has led a “think tank” that has raked in millions of dollars in contributions from – you guessed it – CHINA in recent years.

No kidding:

Holy crap. From the story at the Daily Caller:

William J. Burns, who is President Joe Biden’s nominee for director of the CIA, is president of a think tank that has received up to $2 million from a Chinese businessman as well as from a think tank with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

As president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Burns also invited nearly a dozen congressional staffers to attend a junket to China, where they met with a communist party operative and a president of a Chinese front group.

Burns, who was paid $540,580 last year as president of Carnegie, will appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee for a confirmation hearing likely to be held this month. He has been president of Carnegie since March 2015.

During Burns’ tenure at Carnegie, a businessman named Zhang Yichen joined the think tank’s board of trustees.

“We are very fortunate to have Zhang Yichen on our board,” Burns, a former deputy secretary of state, said in a statement in October 2016. “I look forward to working with him to make Carnegie an even finer institution.”

Zhang, the CEO of CITIC Consulting, a China-based investment firm, donated between $500,000 and $999,999 to Carnegie from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018, according to Carnegie’s website. He gave between $250,000 and $549,999 in the 2020 fiscal year, according to Carnegie’s 2020 annual report.

Zhang is a member of two organizations linked to the Chinese Communist Party, according to his biography at CITIC Capital: the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Center for China and Globalization.

The Little Menace To Society moves the goal posts one more time. – Anthony Fauci was in the news again on Tuesday, performing his duty as the chief propagandist for the COVID-based fascist/socialist takeover of the United States. In an appearance with Bret Baier on Fox News’ “Special Report,” Fauci moved the goal posts down the field again related to how long Americans must keep wearing their masks in public once again.

The new goal? When the viral gift from China “is not a threat at all.”

“That will really be dependent upon how we get the level of virus in the community down,” Fauci responded. “If we can get — and I have used this as an estimate, it’s not definitive — but  if we can get 70 to 85 percent of the population vaccinated, and get to what we would hope would be to a degree of herd immunity which really is an umbrella or a veil of protection against the community, where the level of virus is so low it’s not a threat at all, then at that point, you can start thinking in terms of not having to have uniform wearing of masks.”

Wait, what?

It is vitally important that everyone fully understand what Fauci is saying here, because what he is really saying is that you are going to be wearing your masks in public literally forever.

This is a flu-like virus, not smallpox, not polio, not the measles. As a flu-like virus, it is not ever going to be completely eradicated. It is going to be an ongoing “threat” to our health from now on. Just as we are all encouraged by the government to take our annual shots to help ward off the seasonal flu, we now face a future of being urged to take COVID shots each and every year.

It has been conclusively proven that COVID’s rate of mortality is no higher than that of the common seasonal flu, yet Fauci is now declaring that we as a country will be forced by the government to treat it completely differently in order to continue to justify the draconian lockdowns and social distancing and mask-wearing that have destroyed the greatest economy in U.S. history and threaten to destroy the very fabric of our society.

Since last March, I have warned readers that this was where Fauci always wanted to take us, which is why I tagged him at that time as a menace to our society. Over the last 11 months, Fauci has consistently shifted the goal posts for dealing with this virus, always in a way that helps justify all of the brutish acts of Democrat governors – and some stupid GOP governors as well – around the country.

Getting to this specific place has always been Fauci’s goal from Day One. And now he has gotten us there, with a human sock puppet in the White House supporting him all the way.

So, stock up on those masks, folks, because you’re going to be wearing them for at least the next four years. Anthony Fauci is going to make damn sure of that.

That is all.
