Friday News Roundup: Disney Fires Gina Carano for Telling the Truth as More Cuomo Complicity Comes to Light

Well, of course they did. This is what mass killers do. – Andrew Cuomo and his administration have now admitted to systematically under-reporting the number of nursing home deaths in New York caused by Cuomo’s policy of sending elderly patients infected with COVID-19 back to their nursing homes while still contagious. Cuomo’s top aide admitted on Thursday to the under-reporting, saying she did it due to fear of a potential federal investigation.

Naturally, the aide, a dissembling leftist hack named Melissa DeRosa, blame her actions on mean tweets by…wait for it…President Donald Trump. I swear I do not make this stuff up:

From a story at the New York Post:

Governor Cuomo’s top aide privately apologized to Democratic lawmakers for withholding the state’s nursing-home death toll from COVID-19 — telling them “we froze” out of fear the true numbers would “be used against us” by federal prosecutors, The Post has learned.

The stunning admission of a cover-up was made by Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa during a video conference call with state Democratic leaders in which she said the Cuomo administration had rebuffed a legislative request for the tally in August because “right around the same time, [then-President Donald Trump] turns this into a giant political football,” according to an audio recording of the two-hour-plus meeting.

“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” [Hint: That’s exactly what they did] DeRosa said. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

In addition to attacking Cuomo’s fellow Democratic governors, DeRosa said, Trump “directs the Department of Justice to do an investigation into us.”

“And basically, we froze,” she told the lawmakers on the call.

“Because then we were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation.”

DeRosa added: “That played a very large role into this.”

[End]

It is truly depressing and frankly frightening that so many ghouls just like Cuomo and DeRosa have risen to power in America today. It’s also depressing to know that Cuomo would easily be re-elected if he were to run again, even after causing the needless deaths of thousands of New Yorkers, or that DeRosa would easily win the governor’s office in the state should she become the Democrat nominee.

Liberalism/leftism is a mental disease that robs people of the ability to connect their own voting actions to the societal pathologies that plague their lives. Andrew Cuomo’s political career is living proof of that fact.

CNN is complicit in Cuomo’s mass-killings, too. – While Cuomo was ordering thousands of elderly New Yorkers to their deaths in the state’s nursing homes and DeRosa was helping him hide the real numbers, this is how the corrupt media hacks at CNN were covering the story:

Despicable. Let us never forget that the American media writ large literally lionized Cuomo as a role model for other governors to follow even as he was killing thousands of elderly New Yorkers. The media is complicit. Period.

You’re calling us Nazis??? Well, we’ll see about that! – Mandalorian star Gina Carano put up a tweet recently comparing the social and political climate in the United States to that of pre-WWII Nazi Germany.

As if to absolutely prove her point is 100% correct, Disney fired her for exercising her right to free speech and telling the truth.

You just could never make this stuff up, folks. Don’t even try.

Excerpt from the story at DailyWire:

Disney faced widespread backlash late on Wednesday after a production company that they own announced that it had parted ways with conservative actress Gina Carano after the actress posted some things to social media that some claimed were offensive.

One post, which was a screenshot of someone else’s post that she uploaded to her own account, compared the current divisive political climate in the U.S. to events that took place in Nazi Germany, which critics claimed was her equating Republicans with Jews in Nazi Germany.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” Lucasfilm, a production company owned by Disney, said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Disney’s firing of Carano sparked instant widespread backlash online with “#CancelDisneyPlus” rocketing to the very top of Twitter’s trending news list. Carano was one of the stars on Disney+’s “The Mandalorian.”

In response to Carano’s firing, critics noted how Disney rehired a director that had been fired over disturbing sexually explicit tweets, Disney’s business dealings in communist China, and other controversies that the company has faced in recent years.

“Gina Carano’s post made the point that mass violence starts with hatred for your neighbor,” Daily Caller editor Katrina Haydon wrote. “This is not only uncontroversially true but also one perspective of the commandment to love your neighbor. That idea is not a call to empty niceness. It’s how you prevent suffering.”

“The point that Gina Carano’s post made isn’t even a ‘wild take,’ and she certainly isn’t the first person to get cancelled for viewpoints that differ from the woke mob,” Daily Caller reporter Shelby Talcott added. “What a dangerous, sad era to live in — where expressing a particular view could cost you your livelihood.”

[End]

And so, the woke Perpetual Outrage Mob on Twitter gets its way one more time, and the only well-acted character on The Mandalorian will simply disappear into the ether, likely killing the series for good after one more season. But destroying good things is the Perpetual Outrage Mob’s core competency, so no surprise there.

Pot, Meet Kettle Tweet of the Century:

Hooboy.

Today’s Short Term Memory Reminder. – Hey, remember last week, when I told you that all the members of the Lincoln Project who were out in the media claiming they never knew about the pedo-sexual proclivities of the group’s founder, John Weaver, were lying? Remember how I told you they all knew, that it was impossible for them not to have known, that many in Washington had in fact known about Weaver for 20 years, since he served as campaign manager for John McCain’s failed 2000 presidential campaign? Remember how some members of the Lincoln Project were out there threatening to sue anyone who told that truth about them and Mr. Weaver?

Well, gee, yesterday the Daily Caller ran this story:

Here’s an excerpt:

The Lincoln Project previously expressed shock over allegations against its co-founder John Weaver, but new reporting claims that Lincoln Project members knew of allegations against Weaver as early as June of last year.

Lincoln Project members were made aware of at least 10 allegations of harassment against Weaver in June 2020, the Associated Press reported. The group did not take action against Weaver as it continued its high-profile work combatting the re-election of former President Donald Trump.

Nevertheless, the Lincoln Project expressed shock in January over the allegations against Weaver.

“The totality of his deceptions are beyond anything any of us could have imagined and we are absolutely shocked and sickened by it,” the group said in a January statement.

The Lincoln Project did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Two of the allegations involved Lincoln Project employees, persons with direct knowledge of the situation told the AP. This is the first known suggestion that Weaver targeted staffers within the Lincoln Project, the publication reported.

Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt has also said that Lincoln Project leaders were not aware of allegations of Weaver’s wrongdoing.

[End]

Steve Schmidt, George Conway, and all the rest: Liars.

Glenn Greenwald captured the essence of the Lincoln Project in this tweet:

Thus, the Lincoln Project is conclusively revealed to be what anyone familiar with how the DC Swamp works knew it was from day one: A classic DC Swamp grift, the classic sort of money scam that has been the life’s blood of Swamp denizens for as long as DC has existed. This one happened to be led by a pedophile, but hey, it’s not the first time that has happened, either.

That is all.

Today’s news moves at a faster pace than ever before. Whatfinger.com is the only real conservative alternative to Drudge. It’s the tool I use to help keep up with all the day’s events, and it should be your tool, too.

What kind of nerd watches that crap. anyway? You’re wasting valuable time that should be used to tunnel into a cliff for survival. In fact, all conservatives and Christians should be busy studying Taliban tactics at this point. The reconstructed military, and the PLA units it invites in as “allies” (actually the real masters) will be on a mission to kill us all.

Well, all except those who got vaccinated. They will be left alone to wander the streets eating human brains.

Just wait a couple of years. We will miss 2020/21.

I’m afraid you are correct sir.

We already knew she was a Rinopublicant, but this cements the deal.
She’s positioning herself to be the next Uniparty right side nominee for President.

So Nikki Haley is the establishment’s designated loser in 2024? Good to know.

Silas

“It was a massive financial scam to enrich its founders at the expense of gullible liberals and Never Trump Republicans.”

Fixed it for ya Glenn.

First off, I am a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise. In fact the original Star Wars is my favorite movie of all time. I even liked the prequel trilogy, although they were not up to par with the original trilogy.

However, once Disney took the reins, it was a disaster. The one shining light of the Disney era was the offshoot Rogue One. I walked out of the theater in the middle of The Force Awakens. The Mandalorian was a good series in my opinion. It had all the classic elements of what I like to call an “action show” in that it took me back to being a kid watching Magnum P.I., The A-Team, Airwolf, etc. So a little hope was restored.

That is now gone, as I have cancelled my Disney+ account with an accompanying scathing letter (Hat tip to Silas here at DB as I used his “pox” phrase to close said letter 👍). I agree that Gina Carano did absolutely nothing wrong, and what she said is, in fact, very true. I know that they won’t miss my $7 a month at all, but I did what I had to do. The chances of Disney ever folding up and going the way of the do-do are slim to none, but outside of the classic Disney movies (both animated and live action) they are dead to me.

As for the jackass party, nothing surprises me any more with those jerks. F🤬 ’em all.

I think Rogue One was probably one of the best SF movies to come out of Whoreywood during this time.

A former co-worker was all upset about it not being a “happy ending” Star Wars movie and I pointed out to him that any good SF movie/story doesn’t always have a happy ending. I told him good SF is like that. He looked at me and said you got a point there..

On a side note, if you ever get a chance to watch Lucas’ first SF movie THX-1138 please do so. Best if you can get a copy of the original theatrical release. I know he did a second release that allowed him to add of things he couldn’t do in the original (as with some of the first SW movies) but I still think the original release was the best.

Also, if you can find a copy of Barry B Longyear’s story Enemy MIne
(originally published in Isaac Asimov’s SF mag) please do read it. The movie was good, but it would have been much better if it had followed the story.

Longyear was POd that they didn’t just follow the original storyline.
He made the mistake a lot of authors do and did not demand complete control of the script.

And I am honored you used my new tag line. It’s quite appropriate these days. And I pray that God hears me every time I say it or write it.

JB_Honeydew

Oh yeah, and one more thing….Han shot first!! 😉

Silas

Never give the other guy a chance.

JB_Honeydew

Seen the original THX-1138 multiple times. Did a research project on Asimov in college. Know/love the movie Enemy Mine (huge Louis Gossett Jr. fan), and know of the Longyear story, just haven’t gotten back around to it (other things got in the way….I’ll plead the 5th on what exactly😆). Thanks for the reminder. Will definitely be revisiting. 👍

Silas

Then you probably saw Darkstar. Came out the same year as Young Frankenstein (Bloucher! ) Dean Allen Foster is my second favorite. Ray Bradbury is my first.

I was in the Air Force when Alien was released.I had read the book prior to the movie being released. I got a big kick out of grabbing my buddies leg when the alien attacked it’s first victim. He screamed and so did half the audience because of that. Laughed my butt off over that.
