Rand Paul: GOP Leadership is About to “Destroy the Republican Party”

Proof that Rand Paul reads DBDailyUpdate? – Probably not, but the Kentucky Senator does seem to agree with the piece I wrote yesterday that contends that the collapse we are seeing at Fox News right now is a canary in the coal mine for the Republican Party.

From the story at DailyWire:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) soberly predicted Friday that the Republican Party will be destroyed and hemorrhage a third of its members if party leadership votes to convict President Donald Trump during a second impeachment trial.

During an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Paul described the second impeachment push against Trump as “crazy,” and further evidence of how the president’s opponents are “bitter.”

“I just don’t understand how they can be moving forward with this,” Paul said. “And look, I’m not just saying I’m for everything President Trump has done. I was for seating the electors because I think Congress shouldn’t overturn the state electors. But at the same time, the thing they are doing is an overreaction, and if they think they’re going to have a positive feeling from the public when they’re going to go through a partisan impeachment again, I think that’s absolutely insane and wrongheaded.”

[End]

Well, it certainly is insane and wrongheaded, no question about that. But the DC Swamp UniParty is back in charge now that Trump is about to be gone, and feels the need to flex its muscle. What better way to do that and teach Trump and his voters a lesson in fear than by continuing to persecute the man after he has left the office?

And if it destroys the GOP for a generation or more, so be it. After all, people like Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Mitt Romney and Susan Collins are far more comfortable being in the minority, anyway. Being in the majority means you have real responsibilities and power to get things done. The pressure coming from constituents becomes almost unbearable as they expect you to actually work for a living on their behalf.

But being in the minority means never having to say you’re sorry. You get to sit on the back bench spouting platitude you don’t really mean, toss ineffective fits during hearings and introduce bills your voters love that you hate, but know have no chance of going anywhere, then go back and run for re-election on the claim that there was nothing you could do since you’re in the minority.

For the RINO caucus in the House and Senate, it’s literally the perfect world, a world that allows them to focus most of their time on fundraising and ensuring they get included in the Swamp’s myriad influence peddling scams.

For McConnell and his fellow RINOs, pushing for an impeachment trial presents an opportunity for them to re-establish their UniParty bona fides after four long years of being forced by a POTUS of their own party to actually get stuff done on behalf of the American people. What better way to do that than to go along with the false narrative about the Capitol riot and continue hounding him and his family even after he’s left office?

Rand Paul’s right, but this is a battle he won’t win.

That is all.

Im Done with the No Balls republican party, time for a New party that will help the american people for real.

KevinK

Don, I know it sounds horrible but perhaps antifa should have burned congress to the ground, after all it’s just the fetid home of anti-Americans. Not the land of the free nor the home of the brave. If Paul thinks the GOP will lose only a third he better wake up and feel the rush of feet.

Every person who could have stopped this horror did exactly the opposite of what they should have done. McConnel gave the Demshaviks GA by allowing the Demshaviks to go all around GA say if you want 2k checks vote Demshavik… that happened and McConnel enabled it. McConnel could have dealt with 230 but he brushed it off (he’s probably not computer literate) and now the country resembles something from Orwell novel in less than a week.

Yep, this article is correct. The RINOS have nearly destroyed the GOP.

Isukusa

FU Rand you were right there with the other RINOs. BTW the Republican Party died 6 Jan.

Ken

Where is the transparency, the freedom to choose? They don’t want any dissenting comments or free speech.
Have you noticed how many sites even so called conservative ones are forcing you to use a certain browser to make a comment? None of which are even safe and they all are left wing controlled and anti-Trump. “The browser version you’re using is not supported Upgrade to one of these browsers to join the conversation:” Edge, Safari, Firefox, Chrome.
But yet they spout open, free speech! I use Waterfox and Pale Moon in that order so I don’t get to comment on those sites but I have sent complaints about it to those sites. Every time I go to a site that links me to another that won’t’ let me comment I gripe and complain to them also. Thinking about how to start an internet campaign to tell all of them they will be boy cotted until they change. After all if conservatives can’t even comment of conservative sites do you thing the liberal left is going to.

Anybody that stays in the repub party are idiots. Trump was the first, and last, repub I’ll ever vote for.
The scumbags from the RNC actually sent me a few fundraising emails using Trump’s accomplishments to fund raise on, how vile. These traitors are as smug as they are disgusting.

Get over the destruction of the Republican Party…or the Democratic Party. They haven’t existed since Reagan. This is about traitors on both sides of the aisle, traitors to our country, the Constitution and rule of law for their own personal gain, be it money, power, or position in the NWO. There are no parties…it is about whether Consititution survives or we become a totalitarian regime.

MFG

I will never vote again! Why bother? Trump won in a historic landslide and most Republicans are just as corrupt as the Democrats. The GOP is finished just like our Republic!

CharleyC

The sooner the better. Makes clearing away the rest of the garbage easier. Time to make the RNC poor and force a change. Easier to clean up the mess than it would be to start a new party.

The death of GOP is nigh. I read and sometimes comment on other forums as well and the consensus there is that folks are done with the GOP. As is in never voting GOP again.

There are a lot of GOP voters wringing their hands over this saying we should primary them out and take over the party. Not so certain that’s viable option anymore.

2/3s, as others here have suggested, is pretty much where I see it as well.

And as Dave pointed out, there were Trump voters that weren’t traditional Trump voters. And they will not be voting team GOP either. But if Trump decides he wants to organize a third party based on his base then most, if not all of those folks will leave.

But all of this is an exercise in futility if we can’t clean up the voting system.

Robert

The RINOs don’t require our actual votes or support anymore. They know that the Demonrats will maintain a minority of the nominal opposition party in Congress in order to maintain a veneer of “democracy”. So, the RINO congressmen denouncing Trump are really just auditioning for the Demonrats. Now that fraud is institutionalized, Dominion machines will just pick loyal opposition GOP lickspitttles over MAGA candidates in the primaries. And a solid percentage (45%?) of those will be allowed to win in the general election to keep up the pretense that we have a “democracy”.

KevinK

Under a Biden-communist regime RINOs will be preserved because they will be their token “opposition”.

Justme

Losing only a third of the GOP is optimistic. They likely have already lost that; convicting Trump will lose much more. The Harris-Biden regime very likely will only be capable of the façade of governing; seeing only a level of compliance in that which is unavoidable.

ken

They have all of Obummers experienced guard in there to show them the way.

Amen, Amen, Amen.

I do totally agree with Gregg that the number will be 2/3 (at least), not 1/3 like Senator Paul says. IMHO the biggest single key to the medium/long term future will be what Mr. Trump does after the 20th. Will he show up at his own trial? Start a network? I just have an unshakable feeling that something is going to happen. Jay

delow24

To be honest they already have destroyed it. A huge number of people in my state are switching away from the republican party as per the board of elections report the other day. I expect it is the same in most states.

KevinK

At this rate this may mean the Independents become the real opposition

I took a day off from commenting yesterday.

From yesterday’s DB Update:

“Hannity, who had the top-rated program in all of cable television for several recent years, came in at #27 in last week’s ratings measurement.”

Why did his ratings tank? Did he have his favorite butt-boy scumbag fraud CINO on again giving us more nothing-burgers about what wonderous things he is going to do in the next two years with his friends from across the aisle?

I’m looking forward to – Next up on Hannity, an in-depth discussion with former Attorneys General Jeff Sessions and Bob Barr and what can be done to fix the American Justice System and the DOJ.

“Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) soberly predicted Friday that the Republican Party will be destroyed and hemorrhage a third of its members if party leadership votes to convict President Donald Trump during a second impeachment trial.”

Really Senator Paul? That ship has already sailed.  What was your first clue?

Personally, I think it will be well over two thirds leaving the GOP if the brilliant commenters here are any gauge. More than likely many conservatives will do what we always have done – stay home or seek alternative candidates (after what the collective GOP did to Trump, it will be to seek an alternate political party altogether). Just ask Bush the First about that when he, as an incumbent, got 38% of the vote in 1992, or the muttster when he got almost 3 million LESS votes in 2012 than the miserable “maverick” mclame got in 2008 against the same, and by 2012, well known opponent.

Note to Paul and the turtle, conservative voters stay home when schiff upon by RINO/CINO frauds while the donkey voters will always vote for the promise of free stuff regardless of whomever the candidate with a (D) after their name is.  It was pre-ordained that an empty beer bottle (D) was going to win last year. The Left just got to choose their most (theoretically) electable, corrupt, blackmailable and removeable empty beer bottle.

‘The 0ne’s’ slogan was “Hope and Change”

The btfsplk administration’s slogan will soon be Dope and Despair.

***

About us needing ‘papers’ to enter or leave the crapitol and soon needing a proof of CV-19 vaccination card to fly or even shop… There will still be no picture ID required in donkey strongholds to VOTE! Of that we can be sure, but hey, the donkeys and elephant schiffs fixed (in every sense of the word) that too so elections no longer matter.

***

My main take about MaligNancy Klink’s newest impeachment of President Trump happening in record time:

Don’t anyone be fooled about how fast things can happen in DC if there is a political will to get something done. While it usually takes months to get a “conservative” president’s nominee (court or cabinet or agency) confirmed, or any investigation of a donkey completed, things can happen at “warp speed” when powerful people (and most certainly not politicians) want to make things happen.

Malicious compliance is the mantra in all the federal government when we have a GOP president. The fact that none of the GOP presidents – including Trump with his mistaken picks – tolerated this tells me all I need to know.

Jan 20, 2021 will become as historically significant in American History as July 4, 1776, as it will become known as the day that our Independence Day of 245 years ago was effectively cancelled.

January 20, 2021 the end of the Trump MAGA/KAG ERA, and the beginning of the btfsplk/ roundheels ERROR.
