Monday News Roundup: Clyburn Signals Impeachment Polling Badly; More Senate RINOs Pile On

This whole impeachment thing is obviously not polling well for them. – As is always the case, Democrats make every decision based on polls and focus groups. This is nothing new, it’s how they have functioned as a party since the advent of the Clinton national plague in 1992.

So, why would anyone think this latest nonsense about impeaching a President who has 9 days remaining in office would be any different? Since last Thursday, all the Democrat chatter has been about kicking the process in the House off when the members convene today. That still would not allow enough time for a Senate trial and conviction prior to January 20 – which, by the way, is not going to happen in any event – but it would be plenty of time for the Adam Schiffs and Gerrold Nadlers and James Clyburns of the world to demagogue the matter for the TV cameras and then get the articles of impeachment over to the Senate before inauguration day.

But a funny thing happened Sunday afternoon. Clyburn, the third-ranking member of San Fran Nans leadership junta in the House, floated the idea during an appearance on Fake Jake Tapper’s CNN show of holding up sending over whatever articles of impeachment he and his band of thugs come up with until after China Joe Potato Head Biden’s 100th day in office. That of course is assuming China Joe remains in office for 100 days, which is not cinch if you know what I mean.

From a story at The Hill:

“We will take the vote that we should take in the House. And [Pelosi] will make the determination as to when is the best time to get that vote and get the managers appointed and move that legislation over to the Senate,” Clyburn added.

“Let’s give President-elect Biden the 100 days he needs to get his agenda off and running,” Clyburn added. “And maybe we will send the articles some time after that.”

Clyburn went on to say he expected the House to have its final articles of impeachment sometime Monday and take floor action on them by Tuesday or Wednesday. While Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) has written a single article for incitement to insurrection in relation to last week’s deadly Capitol riots, Clyburn said House leaders are also exploring articles related to the president pressuring Georgia officials to change election results.

[End]

“…maybe we will send the articles some time after that.” And if the polling still isn’t going well for them, they’ll never send the articles over to the House. Because that’s how the Democrats operate.

Brain Dead Op/Ed of the Week, by Juan Williams:

Again, last Wednesday was a riot, not a “coup attempt.” If it had been a coup attempt, all those National Guard troops who the President called in would have been charged with arresting members of congress, not with dispersing the rioters and securing the scene.

This is not hard, yet most Americans will sadly fall for the Big Lie.

Nothing to see here, move along… – Meanwhile, as Juan and the rest of the corrupt news media were pushing the Big Lie about last Wednesday, here is a sample of what was happening around the rest of the country.

New York City:

San Diego:

Portland:

“Mostly peaceful.” *sigh*

Friendly Recent History Reminder of the Day. – Just a reminder that, during last Summer’s BLM/Antifa protests in Washington, DC, there was a definite air of insurrection in the air. A national landmark Church was burned. Stores were torched and looted. More than 100 Secret Service, National Guard and police officers were injured. The President was moved by the Secret Service to a bunker in the basement of the White House in order to keep him safe.

On that same night, Kamala Harris and other Democrat members of congress came out to join the BLM/Antifa riot. Joe Biden and the media mocked the President for moving into the bunker. The next day, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser dedicated a park to the rioters and had the BLM motto painted on 17th street. There were few arrests, and no one in the media or in congress talked about having Harris or any other member of congress who supported the rioters removed from office for their obvious insurrection against the federal government.

This concludes your Friendly Recent History Reminder of the Day.

And for those of you still filling my in-box with claims that last Wednesday wasn’t a riot at all… – Well, ‘splain this one to me:

If that doesn’t look like a riot to you, then go somewhere else. Thanks.

Useless Parliamentary Suggestion of the Week comes from Ohio’s Rob Portman:

Dear Sen. Portman: Any “blue ribbon panel” involving Democrats will simply work to lie about all the massive fraud that took place in November’s election and make the fraud processes permanent going forward. But then, you already knew that, didn’t you?

Utterly spineless.

Finally, over in the Senate, the RINOs are forming a stampede. – Since Alaska RINO Lisa Murkowski kicked off the “Trump should resign” mantra late last week, her fellow Trump haters in the Senate have begun to form up their own pro-impeachment/25th amendment/forced resignation caucus. It hasn’t yet reached the critical mass that would be needed to get to a 2/3rds vote in the senate for conviction and removal, but that won’t keep them from trying.

From a story at The Hill:

GOP lawmakers are wrestling with whether to stick with President Trump between now and Jan. 20 as members of his Cabinet consider resigning or invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska became the first Republican senator to call on Trump to resign, declaring on Friday afternoon that “he has caused enough damage.”

“I want him to resign. I want him out,” she told the Anchorage Daily News.

A day later, Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), who is retiring at the end of 2022, said Trump’s actions rise to the level of impeachment.

“I do think the president committed impeachable offenses,” Toomey told Fox News during an interview.

Murkowski and Toomey’s comments put pressure on Republican centrists, such as Sens. Mitt Romney (Utah) and Susan Collins (Maine), who as of Saturday night had not addressed whether Trump should step down or be removed from office.

Romney, the only Republican senator to vote to convict Trump on an article of impeachment in February, accused Trump of inciting a mob of supporters to storm the Capitol while Congress was counting the vote of the Electoral College on Wednesday.

Rep. Garrett Graves (R-La.) on Friday called for Trump to step back from the duties of his office, though he said he did not support impeaching the president or invoking the 25th Amendment.

“He effectively needs to resign. And what I mean by that is, effectively, he will not be out there talking, speaking, wielding the full authority and power of the White House, maybe even technically finding a way to hand over the keys to [Vice President] Pence,” he said.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), a prominent conservative and potential presidential candidate in 2024, said Thursday he would consider voting to convict Trump on an article of impeachment — something he voted against less than a year ago when House Democrats impeached Trump, charging him with abuse of power and obstructing justice.

“If they come together and have a process, I will definitely consider whatever articles they might move, because as I told you I believe the president has disregarded his oath of office,” Sasse said in an interview on “CBS This Morning.”

[End]

Murkowski. Romney. Collins. Sasse. Graves. Toomey. Keep a list of these people, folks. Never forget their actions this week. They detest you every bit as much as any Democrat does.

That is all.

I see Login but how do I get the credentials to do that? I don’t want to start a blog with WordPress just to read DB’s blog and comments.

Andy

I live in Pa. Toomey has always hated President Trump, but he’s only so brave now because he’s not running for re-election. He needs to be re-called! Snake in the grass!

willyboy

If you are quoting Clybum, you are quoting an unedcated moron. Im from SC and all but the minority community on which he depends on to reelect him….deplore him.

terry zelk

If anybody can’t see this is coming to civil war, you’re blind. They will demand you pledge allegiance to their liberal mantra or you will be denied everything. You and your families will be starved out.
I think you better see this for what it is.

Silas

The funny thing is, that those of us who were lucky enough to learn real history and world politics are watching the demoncrats repeat
the path of Germany circa 1930’s.

We let the teachers unions take over the education of our nations’ youth. And the unions were full of 60’s communist radicals. And then they infiltrated the universities.

And now we have radical, mind numbed robots marching down the path of communism, thinking they will be the next world leaders when in fact they will be the next to march off to the gulags and prison camps once they have served their purpose.

If I survive to see the look of surprise on their face, it will all be worth it.

I believe that articles of impeachment die / become moot at the end of the term of the individual. Even if Trump remained in office, new articles alleging acts committed IN THE CURRENT term of office would have to be introduced and voted on.

Meremortal

What interesting about the “delay 100 days” move is it means they think Trump might still be in office. A President who has left office and is a private citizen can’t be impeached, and is immune to normal prosecution for alleged crimes while in office.

Silas

That is an interesting point. Did roundheels ever give her senate seat?

DB

The picture you posted saying it describes a riot is of Antifa rioters/trouble makers. They were bussed in specifically to create mayhem and to make it look like Trump supporters were the cause. Please do not help the deep state anymore. This disinformation about the 6 Jan 2021 rally coming from the MSM is enough without you piling on.

“Juan Williams: What if the coup had worked?” LOOKS LIKE IT DID!

Gregg mack

dems ate so stupi
you cannot impeach someone no longer President

Larry Folds

The reason the democrats and democrat politicians getaway with this crap is because the republicans do not know how to govern.

Leanna

They know how to govern, they are just lousy at cheating.

DaveS

I think it’s worse than that. Most professing Republicans are actually democrats.Elected as such in order to further the agenda while appearing to be bi-partisan. They are all in it together and you and I are just in the way.

LysanderS

It no longer matters what the American people think when the election process has been so thoroughly corrupted and the Supreme Court has abdicated. A coup d’etat has just been engineered and we are now in the opening stages of the Second (and last) American Civil War

Ben Colder

The country is doomed its really dosen’t matter what happens any more the election was rigged the farce on January 6 was a set up Pence stabbed the country in the back along with Trump The Turtle screwed everyone Nazi Pelosi tried a coup all in all it was the week of the long knives just like Adolf had in the thirties same thing in the district of communists this past week.We have fake news running the networks they have shut down Twitter if you are not a communist facebook goes along everything is wonderful.Think I will go some place and puke.

Gregg

“… advent of the Clinton national plague in 1992.”

So true and the foundation of today’s donkey party.

***

So, in effect they are looking to possibly impeach and convict Trump in absentia in May? Probably will decide after “polling data” comes in.

I say go for it MaligNancy. Any time wasted in her schiffhouse and in the Schmucker/Roundheels/Romney senate means less time for them to be screwing us and America. If it gets to the senate for an actual vote, we will once again have the RINO/CINO traitors highlighted for all to see.

Steve Schultz

Respectively, I’ve never herd of CINO. I know and understand RINO. So many new acronyms, I’m having trouble with all the new acronyms. Can you elucidate for me?2

Gregg

Sorry Steve,

IMO RINO has become obsolete because, after all, what has the Republican Party become/always has been, but a clone of the donkey party?

All the “conservative” sounding Republicans running in Red States like Grahamesty and the Muttster promptly screw us when matters when the get to DC so I have coined the acronym CINO as in Conservative in name only.

Lynn A Kramer

I’d like to see an automatic reader function such as Breitbart uses. I have eye problems. I like to sit back and let the news talk to me.
Also I can listen and continue other tasks thereby not fiddling my entire day away as I go about my life/

prester kahn

I would like to see the opposite – a program to transcribe a podcast or video of talking heads. I read a heck of a lot faster than these people talk and don’t want to have to listen for an hour to get to the gist of what they are saying.

OTW

conservatives, remember these names (Murkowski. Romney. Collins. Sasse. Graves. Toomey.) I will never support, nor vote for these rhino’s for anything. Will you join me? There will be more to add to this list.

prester kahn

No “h” in RINO.

Silas

I prefer rinopublicants these days.

Rick

It appears the rally was hijack by ANTIFA and unfortunately MAGA folks got sucked into the moment which does not excuse them. In fact MAGA folks should have recognized the potential harm storming the Capital would cause. I fear the movement will forever be damaged to the point it will be rendered ineffectual. When the tyrants (Democrats) get total control Jan 20 I fear the country will be doomed.

Gregg mack

like you did last summer. dems egged 10 months of portland burning
hypocrisy thy name is dem

Jonesy

The Dems and the RINOs not only want Trump out, they want it so that he can’t run for office again, hence the impeachment push. Maybe someone who knows for sure how that works can confirm, but I think even if they did that after he leaves office and Biden has his 100 days, it prevents him from holding higher office ever again.

How these people can talk about unity one minute and then shit on the people they are hoping to coax back into the fold is stunning. Dems and big tech are not lowering the temperature of the room at all, they are throwing kindling on a smoldering fire.

Antifa….I’m going to make a prediction. They aren’t going to stop, and I’m betting they are now emboldened now that their supporters are in power. They aren’t going to stop until they are met with armed resistance en masse. The people who end up being so unfortunate to have to defend their business or neighborhood with force will be labeled domestic terrorists, arrested and prosecuted.

prester kahn

The impeachment trial has potentially two votes. The first vote is to “convict” and remove from office. If that happens, a second vote is taken to disqualify the person from holding any “office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States”. Both votes require a separate 2/3 vote to pass.

Patriot_765

Na… Nancy just wants her laptop back…
The ones the military are running the leads down on.

Krista Woodrunner

Nonsense. Impeachment by and of itself means nothing. Only if the president is removed from office is there any change in his status.

NoneYaBiz

You are correct. Impeachment is the vehicle used to remove a person from office. Once the person is gone it becomes a moot tool.

Alonzo

They aren’t trying to coax you back into the fold. WAKE UP! Over the past few years, you should have realized that they are going to do what they want and YOU are going to foot the bill without ANY input into the decision making process.

Alonzo

On top of that, if you happen to be white, then you are really going to be screwed. The cultures who fought for worker’s rights, a 40 hour work week, the middle class, etc., are meaningless at this point in time and considered to be deplorable.

Silas

And that’s exactly what they are up to. It will be fun watching how they twist themselves into knots trying label one type of behavior as terrorism and another not. If the few real Republicans left are smart, they’ll make sure that the demoncrats don’t get off lightly during the debates about it. There’s plenty of video of burning buildings and looted stores to go around. And they can make sure to bring in the people who have lost their livelihoods and homes to these “peaceful protestors” when the demoncrats decide to have their show hearings.

I too have been saying that the antifa/blm activity would not cease.
The Mayor of Portland made a feeble attempt by crying for help after letting the heathens run amuck and now he can’t stop them.

And I used to live just 5 miles as the crow flies from Tigard. I told anybody who would listen that the suburbs weren’t going to be safe forever.

Antifa is forming cells in all the major suburbs most likely. Recruiting all those disaffected basement dwellers into their revolution. It will be interesting to see if the the outlying cities back their police and crack down on them or let it fly like Wheeler did.

On another note, I recommend ignoring any updates to your phones for the next several weeks. No telling what Big Tech might include to control/censor speech and connectivity.

Alonzo

Get rid of your phone, because it owns more of you than you realize.
