London’s Fascists and America’s Warmongers Dominated the Sunday News Cycle

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

The fascists come out into full view in Jolly Old England. – As London has suffered through its radical Islamic-driven epidemic of knife killings over the last few years, I have occasionally joked here and on Twitter (@GDBlackmon) that the next thing you know, they’ll be banning knives in England.  Over the weekend, any further joking on that subject became moot, as London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, took to his own Twitter feed to issue the following edict:

When free societies force their law enforcement officials to behave as if they are incredibly stupid and have no means of identifying the real threat – all in the name of political correctness, of course – the “solution” inevitably ends up being that everyone ends up being treated as a threat.

We see this in our airport “security” measures, in the name of which we regularly witness the spectacle of Homeland Security officials patting down small babies and 90 year-old great grandmothers.

We see this happening in Parkland, Florida, where the school kids are now forced to use see-through backpacks by school and law enforcement officials intent upon continuing their policies of refusing to enforce the law against student criminals.

We see this in our regular gun control debates that invariably take place in the wake of mass shootings, shootings that almost always are committed by unstable individuals with long histories of interactions with law enforcement officials.

Of course, the politically-correct goal in all of these and many other instances in our idiotic society is to force law enforcement to treat every individual as if we are all equal threats, even though those officials have all sorts of means of identifying and acting against real threats if they were just allowed by law to do so.  But because those means might offend someone, everyone must be placed at higher risk.

The reality is that political correctness, and worshiping at the altar of some fool’s notion of “diversity” at any cost leads inevitably to the rise of fascism.  You don’t have to believe me, all you have to do is spend 15 minutes Googling “college campus political correctness” and browsing through the thousands of articles documenting “safe spaces”, the shutting down of any speech that might accidentally offend someone, classes and seminars that blame every evil in the world on white males, and on and on and on.

The notion of fascism has always been portrayed by our left-wing fake news media and entertainment industry as somehow coming out of the political right.  The truth is that fascism is and always has been the inevitable outcome of political leftism.

The fascists have come out into full view in Western Europe, as leftist leaders in England, Germany, France, Sweden and elsewhere implement policies to allow Europe’s native cultures to be overwhelmed and ultimately destroyed by radical Islam.  If you think that can’t come to the United States, well, just wait until the next time we decide to put a Democrat in the White House, and see what happens.  It won’t take long at all.

Four days after President Donald Trump instructed Defense Secretary James Mattis to present him with a plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria, dozens of people were killed in a chemical attack on the town of Douma.  As the Administration rushed to blame Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad for the attack – and the Russians for somehow facilitating it – all the usual suspect warmongers like Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins and John McCain rushed to the nearest TV camera or Twitter feed to advocate for not just keeping the U.S. military in Syria, but going to an all-out war footing there.

Senator Graham was so excited at the prospect of sending thousands of additional U.S. military personnel into harm’s way during a series of Sunday morning TV interviews that he could barely contain his glee.  He and McCain and Collins have truly never met a Middle Eastern civil war in which they did not want to involve America’s armed forces.

It was painfully obvious that none of them – nor any of the army of talking-head warmongers in the fake news media – took a moment to reflect on the incredibly convenient timing of this chemical attack, or to assess what possible motive Assad – or especially Putin – would have to commit such an atrocity less than 96 hours after President Trump had expressed his desire to get America’s military personnel safely out of that hellhole.  They never gave any consideration to the possibility that this atrocity might have actually been committed by Syrian rebels desperate to keep the U.S. involved in the theater, given that they have been losing badly in the conflict.

But this is not just about Syria here in the U.S.  All of these people – along with the entire Democrat Party and most of the fake news media – have been aggressively pushing President Trump into a war posture with Russia since even before he took office last year, forcing the President to abandon his goal of improving relations with Putin.  They no doubt leapt with joy Sunday evening as reports of missile strikes on Syria began to come across the news wires, thinking their tireless warmongering had already resulted in action by the Trump Administration.

The U.S. military denies it had anything to do with the air strikes, even though Syrian state television initially claimed otherwise.  Russia and Syria later accused Israel of conducting the attacks, which could be the case, since Israel has carried out air strikes into Sryia whenever they perceived a threat to their own country’s security.  As if this writing, the Israeli military has had no comment, but we will probably find out who conducted the bombing, or if it indeed even took place.

But back to the point of all of this, and that is that every thinking American ought to be taking a moment today to reflect on the fact that all these warmongers – which includes the neo-conservative element in the GOP, virtually the entire Democrat Party, and almost the whole of the nation’s fake news media – have spent the last 15 months doing everything they can to push President Trump into an increasingly aggressive and openly hostile posture towards Russia.

Isn’t it time we as a society started demanding these people tell us why that is?

Just another day in warmongering America.

That is all.

Today’s The Day The Trump Tax Cuts Save The GOP Congress, If Only Congress Will Let Them

  • Hey, have you ever wondered whatever happened to that lovely, delightful Jill Stein?  You remember her, don’t you?  That “Green” Party candidate who received some rounding error-level number of votes in last year’s presidential election, and then held the country hostage for a month while demanding recounts in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin?  Oh, yeah, THAT Jill Stein? Isn’t she a pistol?
  • Well, it turns out she is alive and sort of well, but not completely well, because the Washington Post is reporting today that she is now under investigation by the Robert Mueller Witch Hunt, er, coup d’etat, er, Special Counsel operation.  Why?  Well, I don’t really care.  I just love the poetic justice involved here.  You go, Bob.  You’ve finally stumbled across your witch.
  • Speaking of Witch Hunts, a couple dozen protesters who don’t want their taxes cut found themselves hunting around Capitol Hill for Nancy Pelosi Monday afternoon, when the House Minority Leader failed to show up for their sparsely attended event at which they planned to express their righteous outrage at having to give less money to the federal government.  Pelosi had agreed to attend the event when she was told that hundreds of her fellow leftist nitwits were going to show up for it, but when that crowd failed to materialize, well, San Fran Nan flew the coop.  No word whether or not she was riding a broom when she did.
  • Justice Department Lawyer Bruce Ohr, recently demoted when it was revealed that he held regular meetings with the sleazy operatives of the Fusion GPS firm – where his wife was employed – during last year’s presidential campaign, had his scheduled testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee postponed until later this week.  Committee members rescheduled his appearance after they received a new tranche of long-withheld documents from the Justice Department earlier in the day, and they wanted time to review those documents before hearing from Mr. Ohr.
  • Another cog in the DOJ Deep State cabal, Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, is scheduled to testify later today before the House Intelligence Committee, in what is supposed to be a closed-door session.  It will be interesting to see if McCabe turns up, and how long it takes California Democrat Adam Schiff or some other Democrat to leak the substance of the hearing to CNN if he does.
  • Meanwhile, today is Tax Cut Day in the United States Congress.  Yes, friends, the Republican majorities in both houses of congress, who have been making unfulfilled promises to you for eight long years, are finally, at long last, on the verge of actually keeping one of them!  Yay!
  • The clincher for getting this largest tax cut in American history sent to the President’s desk appeared to come late Monday when the fakest fake Republican in the Senate, Maine Senator Susan Collins, announced that she would vote ‘yes’ on the bill.  Once it became clear that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has the critical mass of needed votes, Senator From the News Media John McCain fled town so he wouldn’t be a part of a resounding success for President Donald Trump (I still never tire of typing those three words).
  • In all seriousness, this is life or death for the Republican Party’s congressional future.  Get it done, and you have a chance to hold your majorities in both houses of congress in the 2018 mid-term elections, maybe even increase your Senate advantage.  Fail, and you have no chance.  Literally no chance at all – 2018 would become an inevitable wave election favoring the Democrats if this vote fails.
  • Because the fake news media has demonized the bill with talking points coordinated with the Democrat Party – its standard procedure in such matters – the bill does not currently poll well.  But wait until February, when the new tax withholding tables go into effect, and literally every working American sees that his or her paycheck has increased dramatically, and those polls will turn right around.
  • Once that happens, you’ll see the same thing start happening to those “generic congressional preference” polls, which lately have shown the Democrats with a 7-10 point advantage.  The economy is already booming, with the New York Fed now projecting 4% economic growth for the 4th quarter.  More and more Americans are going back to work every day now, and if they also see they are taking home more of their hard-earned money thanks to a bill that every Democrat opposed, the complexion for the 2018 mid-terms will turn around on a dime.
  • Today’s vote is one of the most crucial votes in the history of the GOP.  No wonder John McCain wants no part of it, and we aren’t hearing a peep of support from Mitt Romney or George W. Bush.  That tells you all you need to know about the quality of “conservatives” the Republican Party had been nominating for the presidency before Donald Trump came along.

Just another day in Donald Trump’s America.

That is all.

John McCain Sends A Final “F You” To The American People

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Sen. From the News Media John McCain sent what may have been a final “f you” to the American people in the wee hours of the morning, joining quasi-Democrat Susan Collins and the flip-flopping Lisa Murkowski as the 3 GOP votes needed to kill the final effort to get an Obamacare reform bill passed out of the senate.  A few minutes prior to casting his vote, Sen. McCain was seen yukking it up with Chuck Schumer on the Senate floor.  No doubt they were sharing memories of all the previous times they had joined hands in efforts to screw the American people.  Good times…good times…
  • Anthony Scaramucci is either in waaaaaayyyyyyy over his head, or he is exactly the guy President Trump needed to bring in as a senior advisor to help clean out the swamp creatures who still infest the West Wing of the White House.  I can’t really decide which option to believe about this guy, and yesterday’s hysterics did not inspire a lot of confidence.  Not because of all the profanity – such discourse is the norm in DC – what disturbs me is his apparent naivete’ when dealing with leftwing fake journalists like Ryan Lizza at the New Yorker.  After Lizza published his telephone tirade against Reince Preibus and Steve Bannon, Scaramucci claimed he thought their conversation was “off the record.”  This displays a belief that he or any other person loyal to the President can actually trust one of these fake journalists to keep their word with them.  So, in saying that he thought the conversation with Lizza was off the record, Scaramucci is either lying or reveals himself to be a babe in the woods when it comes to dealing with the snakes in the fake news media.  Scaramucci can have his choice of those options, but neither one is good.  Let’s hope he uses yesterday as a real learning experience.
  • In his rant with Lizza, Scaramucci did promise that he was going to “fire 3-4 people” today.  Given that dozens of Obama holdovers still work in the White House operation, that would represent a good start.  Let’s hope it’s true.
  • Fox News got a call from one White House worker who said ” “This is getting out of hand. I am honestly getting concerned for my safety in the office tomorrow.”  Hopefully, this squeamish individual will one of the 3-4 staffers on the Scaramucci hit list today.  If a few cusswords terrify you, you have no business advising this particular POTUS.
  • As expected, the fake news media is doing its dead level best to cover up for Debbie Wasserman Schulz in the growing scandal related to her chief IT advisor’s arrest at Dulles Airport Tuesday.  Imran Awan is accused of bank fraud after he was discovered taking out fraudulent loans and sending the funds to associates in Pakistan.  Awan and several family members had worked for several dozen other congressional Democrats prior to the announcement weeks ago that the Capitol Police had opened an investigation into his and his family’s activities.  Every Democrat except for Cong. Schulz had fired Awan shortly after that announcement, but Schulz mysteriously kept him on her payroll until the day after his arrest, and has taken aggressive action to impede the investigation.
  • If that seems like a real news story to you, well, it doesn’t seem that way to ABC and NBC, who have not aired a single second of reporting on the scandal.  CBS devoted a full 37 seconds to it on Wednesday.  Meanwhile, the Washington Post managed to publish a 420-word report on the matter without mentioning Cong. Schulz or the word “Democrats” a single time.  No major media outlet other than Fox News has mentioned the fact that Mr. Awan is represented by an attorney who is a long-time Clinton toady.  Because that’s what fake journalists do.
  • Meanwhile, the House Judiciary Committee announced that it is finally, at long last, allocating resources to investigate the leaking activities of James Comey and the obstruction activities by Loretta Lynch in the Hillary Clinton email investigation last year.  Naturally, the vote to proceed was strictly along party lines, with no Democrats in support.

Just another day DC Swamp insanity America.

That is all.

What A Difference A Presidential Tweetstorm Makes

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Boy, what a difference a few tweets makes, huh?  After President Trump had gone after his thus far lackluster performance in office, Attorney General Jeff Sessions suddenly woke up, displaying a sudden new focus on things that actually matter.  Just a few hours after the President’s latest tweet storm, federal agents arrested the chief IT specialist for ex-DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schulz, Imran Awan, as he was attempting to flee the country through Dulles International Airport.  The FBI also announced it has seized a set of “smashed hard drives” that Awan had left behind at his home.  Mr. Anwan had also worked for several other Democrat congressional members in addition to Rep. Schulz.  Nice to see the Justice Department focusing on bringing really bad people to justice rather than ensuring that rural sheriffs get to keep and drive the Maserati’s and speedboats they confiscate from arrested drug dealers.
  • Later in the day, a “source” at the Justice Department told The Washington Post that the Attorney General plans to make a public progress report in the next few days about several ongoing investigations into criminal leaks containing classified information that have been regularly emanating from various government intelligence agencies since President Trump assumed office.  If you think this “source” didn’t give that information to the Post at the request of the AG, you might be naive.
  • And finally, late in the afternoon, the AG announced a tough new policy that would deny Justice Department grant funds to cities that refuse to cooperate with immigration officials tasked with enforcing the country’s immigration laws.  Such grants would now only go “to cities and states that comply with federal law, allow federal immigration access to detention facilities, and provide 48 hours notice before they release an illegal alien wanted by federal authorities.”
  • Who knows?  Maybe the AG’s sudden new focus on stuff that actually matters instead of who might be smoking pot in downtown Denver will actually save his job.  It’s a damn shame it took a public berating from the POTUS to refocus his attention.
  • So you’re sayin’ there’s still a chance! – Great news, everybody!  The so-called “Cal-Exit” movement that hopes to take California out of the USA is still alive!  The Sacramento Bee reports that the California secession movement was given the go-ahead by the state’s Attorney General to begin collecting the required 585,000 signatures to get the initiative placed on the 2018 ballot.  Sadly, the signatures must come from residents of California;  otherwise, I would already be on a plane out to the Golden State to add my name to the list.  But I and millions of other non-Californians will always be behind this noble effort in spirit.
  • After Vice President Pence had cast the deciding vote allowing the debate to begin on the Obamacare Repeal and Replace effort in the U.S. Senate, Senate Republicans who had been promising to repeal Obamacare for seven long years had the chance later in the evening to vote in favor of an amendment that would do exactly that.  Nine Republicans, including eight who had voted to repeal Obamacare in the past, refused to do so last night, now that they have a president who would actually sign such a bill.   Those eight Republicans are Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Bob Corker of Tennessee, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Dean Heller of Nevada, Jerry Moran of Kansas, Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Mike Lee of Utah.  Susan Collins also voted against the amendment, but Sen. Collins has always been a reliable Democrat vote on healthcare issues, and never voted to repeal Obamacare while Obama was President.  The other eight have no excuse.
  • Speaking of Senator Collins. her aides need to exercise a little more control over her gabby mouth when she’s on a hot mic.  Yesterday it was revealed in various news reports that she said all sorts of goofy and nasty things while in that situation on Monday, including referring to Texas Congressman Blake Farenthold as being “fat” and “so unattractive it’s unbelievable.”  After her uncharitable remarks about Congressman Farenthold’s appearance were made public, the fake Republican Senator from Maine issued a terse apology.
  • Speaking of fake Republicans, Sen. From The News Media John McCain made his way back onto the Senate floor despite having had surgery for a brain tumor last week.  There he made a rousing speech in which he blamed the lack of progress in the U.S. Senate on…wait for it…wait for it…talk radio.  I swear I don’t make this stuff up.  Who could?

Just another day in fake Republicans are everywhere America.

That is all.

Trump Bailed The GOP Congress Out In 2016 – He Can’t Do It Again In 2018

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Well, the news media covered for him as long as they could, but the news finally came out yesterday that Senator John McCain’s “surgery for a blood clot above his eye” that would only have him absent from the Senate for a week turns out to actually be an initial surgery for a very aggressive form of cancerous brain tumor called Glioblastoma.  While we will no doubt continue to see “optimistic” reports from doctors about the Senator’s condition, the truth is that this is a very, very grave situation.  I won’t pretend to be a fan of Senator McCain – I’ve often mocked him as The Senator From The News Media, and found his behavior while George W. Bush and Donald Trump were serving as Presidents to be inexcusable.  But many consider McCain to be a national hero, and few human beings have fought and survived against the brutality that he has suffered during his life.  I wouldn’t wish his current battle on my worst enemy.  Godspeed.
  • Let’s talk about congressional Republicans.  A year ago today, Republicans in congress were possibly the single most-detested part of the ruling class in Washington, DC.  They had, as a group, made more false and failed promises to voters over the previous seven years than almost any such collective group of politicians in American history.  They were headed at that point for a thrashing at the voting booths, with “experts” and polls indicating the GOP would lose its Senate majority and could possibly lose the House as well, if Hillary Clinton defeated Donald Trump in a landslide in the presidential contest.
  • But a funny thing happened on the way to electoral disaster:  Donald Trump ran what was certainly an unconventional compaign, but one that was also a rousing success.  The media-promoted and projected Clinton landslide became a crushing defeat for her, and it also bailed the GOP congress out, allowing the Party to retain control of both houses of congress.
  • Suddenly, congressional Republicans were back.  Contrary to the prevailing “wisdom” among DC “experts”, it wasn’t the GOP that was falling apart and doomed to ultimate destruction, it was the Democrats.  And it wasn’t just in Washington:  the results of the 2016 elections gave the GOP control of 2/3rds of the nation’s governorships, 2/3rds of the nation’s legislative chambers, and the Party was about to cement a narrow, 5/4 conservative majority on the U.S. Supreme Court with the confirmation of Justice Gorsuch.
  • Even better, the election results presented congressional Republicans with a golden opportunity to redeem themselves, to repair their stained reputations by finally, at long last, keeping their collective word to repeal and replace Obamacare.  They had an opportunity to cement their majorities and build on them in the upcoming 2018 mid-terms if they could also pass a strong tax reform bill, and demonstrate to the American voters that the GOP could indeed be an effective governing party.
  • And that, of course, is where it has all fallen apart.  Since January, under the utterly ineffective leadership of Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the congressional GOP has done nothing to repair its image, little to keep its promises, nothing to prove to the American people that it deserves to be the majority party in the national legislative body.
  • Worse, the GOP congress has proven that its repeated votes to repeal Obamacare while Barack Obama presented a certain veto were nothing more than cynical political theater, and meant nothing at all.  It is now obvious that liberal senators like Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins have no desire to do anything about the Obamacare disaster at all, and that Mitch McConnell has no ability or real desire to exert control over his senate caucus on this issue.
  • If you want proof of that latter contention, realize that McConnell, if he really wanted to get to a majority vote on Obamacare, could be threatening Murkowski with the loss of her chairmanship of the Senate Energy Committee or Collins with the loss of her coveted chairmanship of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.  Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have no qualms about resorting to such measures to ensure their troops march in lockstep when they need votes.  By refusing to do so, McConnell proves that he is simply not serious about the Obamacare issue.
  • To this point, the GOP congress has looked like an old Keystone Cops movie, with members running in all directions, showing no discipline, having no leadership, resolving no issues of import.  If this continues, then Republicans will go into the 2018 midterms once again sporting the status as the most hated subset of the DC ruling class.
  • And this time, they won’t have Donald Trump to bail them out.
  • Having said all of that, I still believe that the Senate Rs will somehow get to 50 votes on a flat repeal of Obamacare with a 2-year window before it recesses in mid-August.  I believe this because they have almost all voted to do this in the past, when a veto was ensured, and it is in their political best interest to repeat that vote now that a repeal would be signed.  If they can’t even do that, then those members who refuse to repeat that repeal vote had better start looking for something to do in their post-senate careers.

Just another day in disastrous Republican congress America.

That is all.

The Assisted Living Center Congress

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • A few weeks ago, Politico quoted an unnamed DC-based Democrat consultant who described the Party’s congressional leadership as “an assisted living center.”  Now, having reached the age of enjoying movie theater discounts a few years ago myself, far be it from me to speak ill of the aging.  Well, ok, I actually do it all the time when it comes to congress, so nevermind all that.  Congressional leaders are pretty much like the population of an assisted living center, and it isn’t limited to the Democrats.
  • Here’s what I’ve seen this morning as I scan the Internet and watch TV news to catch up on what’s happening:
    • Arizona Sen. John McCain just had intra-cranial surgery to remove a blood clot above his eye, and is now home recuperating.  McCain’s surgery is being cited by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as a reason why he has now decided to delay a vote on the Senate GOP version of medical insurance reform by at least a week.  McCain is 80 years old, McConnell is 75.
    • Caitlyn Jenner is reportedly mulling over a decision whether or not to challenge California Sen. Dianne Feinstein when she runs for re-election next year.  Jenner is well-known to be a Republican, and has long expressed interest in political matters.  Sen. Feinstein has served in the Senate since 1992, and is 84 years old.  Jenner is a comparative spring chicken at age 67.
    • Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-TX, has somehow figured out that ObamaCare is a partisan issue (something most Americans figured out in 2009), telling “Meet The Press” on Sunday that “Unfortunately, this has become a partisan issue, and our Democratic friends are refusing to lift a finger to help the very constituents who are being hurt.”  Yes, folks, Sen. Cornyn still labors under the illusion that Senate Democrats who have been at absolute, overt war with the GOP and the American people for half a century are his “friends.”  Sen. Cornyn has only this year qualified for Medicare – age 65 – but will never have to suffer under its restrictions and bureaucratic roadblocks since members of congress have long exempted themselves from such inconveniences.
    • Nominal Republican Senator Susan Collins outright adopted Democrat talking points in a Sunday appearance on CNN, telling the fake host there that “This bill would impose fundamental, sweeping changes in the Medicaid program.  Those (changes) include very deep cuts that would affect some of the most vulnerable people in our society, including disabled children, poor seniors. It would affect our rural hospitals and our nursing homes.”  As a reward for her service, Sen. Collins – age 64 – was called up to the stage at a concert featuring Cyndi Lauper, who hailed Collins as “my hero.”  *sigh*
  • This parade of the addled, the lame and the simply ineffective and dim could go on and on, but here’s the point:  Congress is in the process of deciding what the nation’s health insurance system – and therefore, the nation’s health delivery system – will look like for coming generations.  This is unfortunately a federal intervention into 1/6th of the U.S. economy that the leaders of both political parties agree needs to happen.  The Democrats accomplished the initial takeover in 2010 without a single Republican vote, and the Republicans appear to be limping towards making some sort of “reform” to the government-mandated system without receiving a single Democrat vote.
  • There are many huge problems with this process, but it seems to me that the single biggest part of it is that every person in leadership of both parties who making these decisions for future generations is old enough to be retired – and most should have long ago been forcibly retired by the voters – and all are exempt for life from suffering the inevitable bad consequences of these decisions.
  • That Democrat consultant’s comment about an “assisted living center” was funny because it was perceived as being largely true.  But the truth, of course, is that none of these senior citizens in congressional leadership will ever have to spend a day in such a facility.  They will all retire wealthy (many of them mysteriously so) and live their final days in gated communities or estates surrounded by high walls and security guards to protect them from the rabble who must endure the effects of their decisions.
  • This is the worst possible way to make such policy, and the worst possible class of individuals to lead such an effort.  But here we are.

Just another day in assisted living center America.

That is all.
