Trump Predicted Schneiderman’s Demise – is There Just no End to all This #Winning?

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Tired of all this #Winning yet? – The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) announced on Monday that April was the best month for the federal budget in the nation’s history.  CBO officials said the government ran a surplus of $218 billion for the month, which of course is the month in which personal federal income tax returns are due.  The government’s intake of $518 billion for the month was $40 billion more than CBO’s analysts had anticipated, which is no surprise given that these are the same analysts who missed the 10-year cost of Obamacare by about half a trillion dollars.  The analysts attribute the higher tax income to – guess what? – stronger than anticipated economic growth during Donald Trump’s first year in office.

#Winning!

Oh, you poor thing. – Failed comedian Kathy Griffin, in yet another desperate plea for attention, told her Twitter followers on Monday that she’s just found out she’s been placed “on a brand new ‘Kill List.’ ”  It is not clear exactly who Miz Griffin thinks would bother taking the time and energy to try to kill someone so insignificant.  But, after predictably taking a shot at President Trump and his “game criminals” and another at…wait for it…Ryan Secrest, Griffin pointed her crooked, blood-soaked index finger at an unlikely source:

“…someone at “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” a “show I have done many times for free, ” has “a ‘problem with me’” and they’re “spreading the word around.”

Man, you just can’t cure crazy.

Yeah, that’s probably not going to help. – California Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein and 11 other Democrat senators sent a letter to the White House on Monday urging President Trump to keep the United States in the terrible, awful, no good very bad deal with Iran.  Notably, not a single one of the Democrat hypocrite signatories to this letter voted to allow the U.S. Senate to vote on the deal – every one of them participated in the filibuster to prevent the Senate from exercising its constitutional oversight on international agreements like this.  Given that, I’m guessing the President won’t be factoring this letter into his decision-making on the matter.

You might want to consider one of those countries that doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the United States. – The Pantsuit Princess, trying to hide what is obviously a back brace beneath her pantsuit jacket, told an audience that she considered fleeing the country after she lost the election in 2016 to Donald Trump.  Claiming she had “gotten some offers” to move to New Zealand in the weeks following Election Day, the Coughing Crook told her audience that “I must say I really did appreciate the offers. Gave them some thought,” Clinton joked. “But I’m going to stay put because we have work to do in my country as well.”  Why yes, yes we do.  Good of you to notice.

Mr. Schneiderman, your #MeToo Moment has arrived. – New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who has led the “resistance” effort among Democrat state attorneys general to challenge pretty much ever major action taken by the Trump Administration in court, got his #MeToo comeuppance on Monday when The New Yorker filed a report in which four women claim he is a serial woman abuser of the worst kind.  The women variously accuse the pompous bully with slapping them, choking them, punching them, and a broad variety of verbal and sexual abuse.

As always happens when public figures become embroiled in a major scandal, people began scouring Schneiderman’s social media accounts for unfortunate postings.  The tweet below, issued just a few weeks ago, is a prime example of Schneiderman’s rank hypocrisy:

For his part, Schneiderman first posted a denial, ironically using his Twitter account for the purpose:

Uh, ok.  Guess he was also doing a little “role-playing” when he was a featured speaker at the “Women’s March” that took place shortly after Trump’s inauguration in January 2017.  Hashtag, irony.

Shortly after that lame tweet, as it became obvious the whole “role-playing” dodge wasn’t going to fly, Schneiderman announced his blessed resignation.  Not that that will change anything in New York – the state’s Democrat machine will just plug some other abusive jerk into the job and keep Schneiderman’s efforts to undermine American democracy going.  Because that’s what the purpose of today’s Democrat Party has become.

But here’s the best part of all of this.  Those enterprising social media scourers also came up with this little gem from Donald Trump’s Twitter feed, circa 2013:

It took five years to come about, but once again, Donald Trump just keeps on #Winning.  Somewhere, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is cowering in a corner, praying Trump doesn’t issued any tweets targeting him.  Hilarious.

Just another day in Donald Trump just keeps on #Winning America.

That is all.

Roger Goodell: Captain of the NFL Titanic

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Everyone does understand that the ridiculous allegations yesterday against the President by the circus clown-ish congresswoman Frederica Wilson from Florida (of course) were simply Democrat-instigated noise to deflect media attention away from the Russia Uranium story, right?  Right.  Let’s move on.
  • Speaking of Democrat-instigated noise designed to give the fake news media an excuse to ignore the Russia Uranium story, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee chose to re-litigate Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ testimony from his confirmation hearing seven months ago when he appeared before that committee yesterday.  Reiliable sleazeballs Al Franken, Patrick Leahy and Dianne Feinstein led the charge, asking not a single question about anything current or related to anything anyone cares about anymore.  Sessions made the three senators look like fools, but that’s really not difficult to do.  The questioning served its purpose, as fake reporters all over Washington and New York City breathed huge sighs of relief, knowing they’d be able to file stories on the hearing without mentioning anything about Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or the bribery scheme they became involved in with the Russians back in 2009-10.
  • But in fairness to those fake journalists, there wasn’t much to report from this hearing on the Russia Uranium scandal.  Chairman Chuck Grassley brought it up with Sessions, but as soon as Sessions told him he would not comment on any “ongoing investigation”, Grassley dropped the matter like a hot potato.  So I suppose the one smidgen of news in that is that the useless Attorney General appeared to at least confirm that there is an ongoing investigation of the matter within the Justice Department.  Which, let’s be honest, would represent a dramatic departure from his behavior towards all the Obama-era lawlessness during his first seven months in the job.
  • Speaking of people who are not fit to be in their current job brings us straight to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.  Fresh off his mid-season meetings with NFL owners and players in New York, Goodell told the assembled press that they had talked and talked and talked about all sorts of “social justice” stuff and the national anthem and decided that….wait for it….NOTHING WILL CHANGE.  I swear I don’t make this stuff up.
  • That’s right.  Goodell said that while he and the owners would “prefer” all players to stand for the national anthem and honor the country that has made them all so fabulously wealthy, he and his feckless group of owners will make no rules changes to require them to do so.  Thus, the NFL will continue to fine players who don’t tuck their shirt in, who don’t wear their socks the correct height, who use towels that don’t meet league regulations, who use too much stick-em on their fingers, who are late to team meetings, who touch the poor quarterback in the wrong place or hit him too hard and for hundreds of other picky rules violations, but they just aren’t able to bring themselves to enforce a little decorum on the sidelines during a ceremony that honors those who have fought and died for our country.
  • The best part of Goodell’s comments came when proved he can’t count, saying that “The fact is that we have about half a dozen players that are protesting.”  Hell, you had twice that many New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens taking a knee this past weekend, and dozens of others doing the same in other games played before half-empty stadiums and depressed TV audiences around the league.
  • The Commissioner was so, so proud, though of all the touchy-feely discussions he and the players had about social justice matters about which NFL fans don’t give a damn.  “They’re talking about criminal justice reform, whether it’s bail reform. Whether it’s talking about mandatory sentencing. They’re talking about changes that, I think, will make our communities better — that there’s bipartisan support for and that need focus.”  Yes, I did not make that up – the Commmissioner of the NFL is suddenly pretending to be an expert on which issues have “bipartisan support”.  Holy crap.
  • Roger Goodell obviously doesn’t understand it, but he is the captain of the Titanic at this point.  (Come to think of it, the Captain of the Titanic didn’t understand his problem, either, until he ran into that iceberg.)   His league’s audience is dropping like a rock, his stewardship of the league is an abject disaster, and he has completely lost favor with the support base for the political party that is, by the way, the vast majority political party across the nation at this point.
  • His business depends heavily on its anti-trust exemption, for which there is literally no good justification at all at this time, and on the very favorable tax treatments it receives at all government levels.  Mr. Goodell appears to have no understanding at all of the political peril his league faces if these protests against our country continue.
  • That iceberg is sitting out there right now, just over the horizon, and Roger Goodell has his Titanic of a league headed right for it.

Just another day in clueless NFL commissioner America.

That is all.

Sunday Was a Very Bad Day For the “Steins”

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. – Man, you know you’re having a bad day when the company with your name on it, the company you personally founded, comes to you and says “you’re fired!”  But that’s exactly what happened to producer of mediocre films and all-around high Hollywood muckety-muck Harvey Weinstein on Sunday, as the Weinstein Company’s board of directors, including his own brother, unanimously voted to can him.  That’s a really bad day.
  • It’s important to note that the Weinstein Company’s board of directors did not fire Weinstein because they found out about their CEO’s serial abuse of women.  They fired him because the rest of us found out about it.  Big difference.
  • In case you’re feeling all warm and fuzzy with the fake journalists and fake editors who infest the NYTimes for running the story that brought Weinstein down, well, don’t.  Writing in The Wrap, former Times reporter Sharon Waxman details how she had this story nailed in…wait for it…2004, but that, thanks to immense pressure put on the Times by Weinstein and actors Matt Damon and Russell Crowe, the fake editors at the fake newspaper gutted her story of all reference to the high muckety-muck’s abuse of women and buried the remainder of her story in bowels of the Culture section.
  • Much like many of his own productions, there are no good guys in this particular film.  No intrepid journalists exposing corruption, no valiant actors or actresses doing the right thing at risk of their own personal careers, no principled politicians who refuse to take money from a man they know to be a woman abuser.  No socially-redeeming characters here at all.
  • Speaking of “steins”, California Senator Dianne Feinstein (who was happy to take money from Harvey Weinstein), right in the middle of her latest effort to ban gun ownership in America, openly admitted in an interview on Face The Nation on Sunday that there is no law, either on the books or that she could pass, that would have stopped the Las Vegas gunman:  “No, he passed background checks registering for handguns and other weapons on multiple occasions,” she told host John Dickerson.  Well, duh.
  • But of course, that did not stop the gun-grabbing Senator from California from going ahead and talking about how she has all sorts of ideas on gun laws, which she did not specify, that would “make things safer.”  The next logical question for any real journalist would be “Can you be specific about what those ideas are, Senator?”  But Ms. Feinstein is a Democrat, and thus exempt from the asking of any follow-up questions that might reveal the emptiness of her ideas.
  • So she was just allowed to ramble on about how the question of “bump stocks” requires a bill – which she just happens to have in-hand – and can’t be resolved via a regulatory review by the BATFE, which ruled the things to be legal in 2010.  Which, of course, may or may not be true, and we won’t know until the agency has performed its regulatory review.  Sen. Feinstein at one point stated that “Regulations aren’t going to do it. We need a law.  It can’t be changed by another president. Right now we’re seeing one president change actions of a – of a president that came before him, and that would happen in this area.”
  • That statement doesn’t really make sense and seems self-contradictory, but the Senator seems to be claiming there that BATFE in the Trump Administration cannot reverse a regulatory ruling made during the Barack Obama Administration.  This is abject nonsense.  As the Trump Administration has already shown in literally hundreds of instances already, federal agencies can indeed reverse or modify regulatory rulings made years earlier, as long as they have the legal justification for doing so.  We won’t know if BATFE can find a legal hook for reversing its earlier approval of the bump stock toy until the regulatory review has been performed.  This is how our government works.
  • The reality with Sen. Feinstein is that she wants to do a bill for the sake of doing a bill, so that she can take credit for “doing something”, even if it is, as a practical matter, meaningless.  Because making futile gestures in the name of “doing something” so they can take political credit is what Democrats do.

Just another day in Democrat gun-grabbing America.

That is all.

The Left Is Now Eating Its Own – Everybody Stand Back And Don’t Interfere

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • The Left is now eating its own. – Hollywood producer of mediocre films and general high muckety-muck Harvey Weinstein was revealed by the news fakers at the New York Times on Wednesday to be a serial woman abuser who has entered into at least 8 settlements of sexual harassment lawsuits over the last quarter century.  This story was apparently real – it’s not about Donald Trump or Russia, after all – because Weinstein felt the need to issue a standard progressive non-apology apology later in the day that sounded like it came right out of the Bill Clinton playbook.  Which is appropriate, given that Weinstein has been a big donor to both Clintons, Barack Obama, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi and many other Democrat luminaries during the same years in which he was abusing women.
  • Progressive activists began demanding that all these Democrat politicians donate any contributions received from Weinstein over  the years to various women’s charities.  Thus far, only Sen. Patrick Leahy has chosen to do so, though we can expect some others to do the same.  But those who expect anyone named Clinton to give back any money for which they spent all those years shamelessly clawing and grasping is likely to be disappointed.  Hell, Bill’s still trying to figure out what all the fuss is about here.
  • And then there’s Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton, who has become a hero of the unpatriotic left in recent weeks by engaging in various acts of disrespect to the flag during the playing of the national anthem.  Turns out that one can be a progressive hero only so long as one does not violate the norms of political correctness.  In a press conference on Wednesday, Newton made a snarky, insulting remark in response to a question about receivers running routes from a female reporter, an act for which he definitely deserves to be reprimanded.  But oh, my, a reprimand is the least of Cam’s worries.
  • This is what happens when you lie down with dogs. –  Cam has now become public enemy number 1 among the hard left contingent that now infests America’s sports media at all levels.  So much so that he has begun to lose sponsors as a result of all the negative media he is getting.  Thus, Mr. Newton has now forfeited all the weeks of hard work disrespecting Old Glory and the Star Spangled Banner with a single dim-witted misogynistic slip of the tongue.   These athletes are going to find their new progressive masters to be very demanding of their personal behavior.  Tough.
  • Wait, they’re giving us what we want?  Why, they can’t do that! – All the fake reporters and talking heads in the fake news media spent Tuesday through mid-day Thursday screaming at the top of their fake lungs about the need to get rid of Bump Stocks, the shooter’s toy that enabled the Las Vegas murderer to effectively turn semi-automatic weapons into fully-automatic guns.  But then the NRA, early Thursday afternoon, issued a statement supporting a review by the BATF to determine whether or not these toys really are in compliance with federal law (as someone we all know and love had suggested they do on Wednesday evening), and all the fake reporters and fake talking heads stopped in mid-scream, looked around and said “Wait, what?”
  • So they all fumbled around for about 2 hours until new talking points could be developed at Fake News Central, and by 3:00 they were all saying in unison that “Well, you can ban bump stocks, but don’t think that’s going to be the end of this!”  And then they all started chanting in their best Tibetan Monk tones “We need universal background checks.  We must have universal background checks.  We need universal background checks.  We must have…” ok, you get it.
  • They always go to universal background checks, for two reasons:  1) they don’t really have anything else, and 2) because they love to recite the phrase “Gun show loophole.”  It sort of rhymes, and all progressives are just frustrated poets with very mean streaks.  In the current case, this progressive monk-ish chant ignores the reality that the Las Vegas killer, during the course of his career – which included stints at the IRS and with at least one defense contractor – and in accumulating his  arsenal of firearms has reportedly submitted to more than 2 dozen FBI background checks during his adult life, and passed them all.  In other words, this is just one more meaningless Democrat/fake news media talking point designed to mislead the public.
  • But hey, that is after all what these people do for a living.

Just another day in lefties eating their own America.

That is all.

Democrats Will Practice Anti-Catholic Bigotry Unless Shamed Into Submission

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • University Leaders Call Out Bigoted Democrats.  Will miracles never cease? – The presidents of Notre Dame and Princeton University wrote scathing letters to longtime anti-Catholic bigot Sen. Dianne Feinstein, after her inquisition of the religious beliefs of a Catholic Trump nominee for the federal bench.  While it is wonderful that these two presidents finally, at long last decided to weigh in against the anti-Catholic, anti-Christian bigotry that has become part of the daily playbook of the Democrat Party on Capitol Hill, it is worth noting that this is nothing new, and that Sen. Feinstein has been plying her bigotry on the Senate Judiciary Committee for decades now.  She is far from alone, carrying on a tradition established long ago by the likes of Howard Metzenbaum, Patrick Leahy and other Democrat Judiciary Committee members going back to at least the 1970s.  So, welcome to the party, gents, but this one has been going on for a long, long time.
  • For those who haven’t read their Constitution in awhile, Article VI is pretty explicit on this subject:  “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”  Any reasonable reading of the history of why this was included in the Constitution reveals that it was put there as a prohibition against the establishment of a state religion.  But Democrats, mainly in their quasi-religious zeal to protect abortion on demand, in modern times have attempted to distort this into a literal prohibition of truly religious people holding public office.  It’s ok for Catholics like Nancy Pelosi to hold high office, because they know she doesn’t really practice the teachings of the Church:  her religion plays no role in informing her public policy postures.
  • In other words, it’s fine to say you’re religious, so long as you don’t live your life that way.  This is the religious test Democrats have been imposing for decades, and it won’t stop until religious leaders and leaders of faith-based universities call it out every time they see it.  The letters from these two university presidents is a good start, and it is worth noting that the U.S. Council of Bishops also weighed in on this latest controversy with a letter of their own.  This is wonderful as a beginning, but if it is just a one-off it will have no long-term effect.  If they want to the practice to end, they will have to police it and call it out every time it rears its ugly head, because the fake news media doesn’t care about it – they actually support it – and isn’t going to call it out.  Democrats like Feinstein have seen too much political advantage accrue from engaging in this practice over the years, and won’t stop unless they know they will be subject to public shaming every time they attempt it in the future.
  • Can we please keep this woman under lock and key until next November? – Speaking of San Fran Nan, I noted last week that President Trump’s deal with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer virtually ensures that Republicans will have those two toxically unpopular faces of the Democrat Party to run against in the 2018 mid-term elections.  But the limits of that surety could be severely tested if San Fran Nan keeps showing herself to be a doddering simpleton in her public appearances.  She made such an appearance on Saturday before a gathering of San Francisco’s LGBT community leaders, confusing words, uttering garbled sentences, and generally making such a mess of her talk that she found herself having to stop and overtly note which lines were applause lines to her overwhelmingly friendly audience.  It was San Fran Nan in all her awesome glory, and Republicans are praying that glory doesn’t get over-exposed before November 2018.
  • When is a dead battery not really dead?  When Elon Musk is just telling you it is. – Tesla drivers fleeing Hurricane Irma were given a surprise free upgrade, as the car manufacturer remotely “unlocked” the full power of the batteries in the Model S and Model X cars that had been purchased with the 60kWh option.  Turns out those cars actually contained the same 75kWh batteries that others had purchased at higher prices, with Tesla simply limiting how much of that capacity the lower-paying drivers could use.  In other words, prior to the passage of Irma, drivers of the 60kWh models were being told by their cars that their batteries were on the verge of death, when in reality they had plenty of life remaining, if only Tesla hadn’t artificially limited it.  Cost of the “upgrade” – which obviously amounts to checking a box on a web page linked to each car –  prior to Irma?  $4500 to $9000, depending on the model.  I swear I’m not making this up.

Just another day in bigoted Democrats America.

That is all.

James Comey: All Phony, All The Time

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Hey, remember waaaayyyyyy back in July of 2016, when bi-polar former FBI Director James “Leaky” Comey feigned seriousness in his nationally televised statement about his decision not to refer Hillary Clinton for criminal prosecution over her rampant disclosure of national secrets on an illegal email server?  Remember how he got a little choked up with emotion a couple times there, almost looking like he was on the verge of tears?  Remember how he claimed his decision was an excruciating one, a decision based on long months of arduous investigation by himself and dozens of his FBI agents?  Good times…good times….
  • Yeah, that was all fake.  Turns out, he made that decision months before – in April, in fact, and that everything that took place related to the investigation after that was just for show.  This was all quietly revealed on Thursday with the release of transcripts from a closed Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that took place earlier this year.  In the grand pantheon of sleazy American public servants, it is hard to think of anyone more sleazy than James Comey has turned out to be.  But hey, that’s how a career bureaucrat gets himself a multi-million dollar book deal and becomes a hero to those on the political left.
  • And speaking of FBI sleaze…:  Don’t think the systemic corruption at the FBI has ended just because Comey and Barack Obama and Loretta Lynch are no longer in charge.  Earlier this week, the FBI formally announced that it was withholding a mass of documents related to the fake investigation of the Clinton email scandal “due to lack of public interest” in the matter.  Even J. Edgar Hoover, as hopelessly corrupt as he was, rolled over in his grave at that bit of shameless sophistry.
  • But all is not lost:  On Thursday, Federal Judge James Boasberg ordered the agency to immediately release all previously unreleased documents related to the investigation.  While that’s wonderful, the thing that really needs to happen here is for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to get his butt over to the FBI building and fire a bunch of people.
  • Twitter progressives before yesterday:  “Trump is rich!!!! Why won’t he donate his own money to the hurricane relief funds!!!!!!!”  Twitter progressives this morning, after Trump gave $1 million:  “Trump doesn’t care !!!  He’s just doing it for the attention!!!!”
  • Truth about 99.9% of those Twitter progressives:  they haven’t given one thin dime of their own money to any of the relief funds.  If it weren’t for rank hypocrisy, these people would have no discernible personality traits other than undying rage.
  • Barack and Michelle Obama, who already have a home in the outskirts of Washington, DC valued at about $9 million, are now looking to purchase a vacant lot in Martha’s Vineyard valued at $15 million.  This is a couple who have never in their lives earned a combined salary in excess of $400,000 per year.  Politics is obviously great work if you can get it.
  • These are not reasonable people you’re talking to, Senator.:  California’s geriatric Sen. Dianne Feinstein is in big, big trouble with her party’s never-ending rage voter base, after she advised a gathering of her constituents to “be patient” with President Trump at a townhall meeting earlier this week.  Big mistake, saying something like that to a group of people whose only reason for getting up out of bed each morning is so they can project their rage on anyone they happen to run into, either in person or on social media.  So now they’re projecting some of that never-ending rage on the senior Senator from California.  Cool.
  • They need to learn that bigotry is now cool among those on the political left.:  The UK Sun reports that L’Oreal has now fired its first trans-gender model after he…oops…’Ze’ went on a Facebook rant accusing all white people of being inherently racist.  Apparently, the management at L’Oreal needs to undergo a joint sensitivity training session at which they learn that this model was simply parroting the talking points of the Democratic National Committee.

Just another day in Through The Looking Glass America.

The Assisted Living Center Congress

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • A few weeks ago, Politico quoted an unnamed DC-based Democrat consultant who described the Party’s congressional leadership as “an assisted living center.”  Now, having reached the age of enjoying movie theater discounts a few years ago myself, far be it from me to speak ill of the aging.  Well, ok, I actually do it all the time when it comes to congress, so nevermind all that.  Congressional leaders are pretty much like the population of an assisted living center, and it isn’t limited to the Democrats.
  • Here’s what I’ve seen this morning as I scan the Internet and watch TV news to catch up on what’s happening:
    • Arizona Sen. John McCain just had intra-cranial surgery to remove a blood clot above his eye, and is now home recuperating.  McCain’s surgery is being cited by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as a reason why he has now decided to delay a vote on the Senate GOP version of medical insurance reform by at least a week.  McCain is 80 years old, McConnell is 75.
    • Caitlyn Jenner is reportedly mulling over a decision whether or not to challenge California Sen. Dianne Feinstein when she runs for re-election next year.  Jenner is well-known to be a Republican, and has long expressed interest in political matters.  Sen. Feinstein has served in the Senate since 1992, and is 84 years old.  Jenner is a comparative spring chicken at age 67.
    • Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-TX, has somehow figured out that ObamaCare is a partisan issue (something most Americans figured out in 2009), telling “Meet The Press” on Sunday that “Unfortunately, this has become a partisan issue, and our Democratic friends are refusing to lift a finger to help the very constituents who are being hurt.”  Yes, folks, Sen. Cornyn still labors under the illusion that Senate Democrats who have been at absolute, overt war with the GOP and the American people for half a century are his “friends.”  Sen. Cornyn has only this year qualified for Medicare – age 65 – but will never have to suffer under its restrictions and bureaucratic roadblocks since members of congress have long exempted themselves from such inconveniences.
    • Nominal Republican Senator Susan Collins outright adopted Democrat talking points in a Sunday appearance on CNN, telling the fake host there that “This bill would impose fundamental, sweeping changes in the Medicaid program.  Those (changes) include very deep cuts that would affect some of the most vulnerable people in our society, including disabled children, poor seniors. It would affect our rural hospitals and our nursing homes.”  As a reward for her service, Sen. Collins – age 64 – was called up to the stage at a concert featuring Cyndi Lauper, who hailed Collins as “my hero.”  *sigh*
  • This parade of the addled, the lame and the simply ineffective and dim could go on and on, but here’s the point:  Congress is in the process of deciding what the nation’s health insurance system – and therefore, the nation’s health delivery system – will look like for coming generations.  This is unfortunately a federal intervention into 1/6th of the U.S. economy that the leaders of both political parties agree needs to happen.  The Democrats accomplished the initial takeover in 2010 without a single Republican vote, and the Republicans appear to be limping towards making some sort of “reform” to the government-mandated system without receiving a single Democrat vote.
  • There are many huge problems with this process, but it seems to me that the single biggest part of it is that every person in leadership of both parties who making these decisions for future generations is old enough to be retired – and most should have long ago been forcibly retired by the voters – and all are exempt for life from suffering the inevitable bad consequences of these decisions.
  • That Democrat consultant’s comment about an “assisted living center” was funny because it was perceived as being largely true.  But the truth, of course, is that none of these senior citizens in congressional leadership will ever have to spend a day in such a facility.  They will all retire wealthy (many of them mysteriously so) and live their final days in gated communities or estates surrounded by high walls and security guards to protect them from the rabble who must endure the effects of their decisions.
  • This is the worst possible way to make such policy, and the worst possible class of individuals to lead such an effort.  But here we are.

Just another day in assisted living center America.

That is all.
