The President Should, But Won’t, Declare Antifa A Terrorist Organization

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Terrorism comes in many names.  “Antifa” is one of them. – An interesting, though little-noticed, item related to the fascist hate group “Antifa” (which ironically is a contraction for ‘Anti-Fascist’) story is developing as a part of the White House on-line petitioning process that was created by the Obama Administration.  This petition demands that the Trump Administration formally recognize Antifa as a terrorist organization, which it clearly and unambiguously is.  “AntiFa has earned this title due to its violent actions in multiple cities and their influence in the killings of multiple police officers throughout the United States,” the petition reads in part.
  • The process requires that such petitions obtain 100,000 signatures of support from U.S. citizens within 30 days of their filing.  This Antifa-related petition was filed last Thursday, meaning it received the necessary support in less than four days.  So, obviously there is a great deal of interest in and support for this effort, most of it probably concentrated among Donald Trump’s voter base.
  • It will be interesting to observe how the White House responds to this petition – and the rules for this process do require such a response whenever any petition reaches the critical mass of support.  There is no doubt at all that Antifa is indeed a domestic terrorist organization.  Its’ spokespeople, such as they are, bragged about being exactly that in interviews on NBC and CNN this past week, claiming their strategy is to “commit violence in order to create peace,” a statement so laughably nonsensical that only NBC’s Chuck Todd and the peabrain on-air talent at CNN could listen to it without openly laughing.  This group commits violence wherever it shows its ugly, masked face, beating opponents with baseball bats laced with nails, spraying people and police alike with pepper spray and mace and urine, and wantonly burning buildings and destroying public and private property alike.  Committing violence for shock value is the very definition of terrorism.
  • Don’t hold your breath waiting for this to happen. –  President Trump’s team of advisors will no doubt counsel him not to take this step because it would be “divisive” (I can hear H.R. McMaster saying those words as I type this), and out of fear of incurring negative media coverage, as if this President ever gets anything else from the fake news media.
  • Still, if nothing else, this puts the President and his advisors on the spot and at least forces them to focus on the question.  It will also force Mr. Trump to clearly recognize those among his advisors who counsel him to avoid doing what he clearly knows is the right thing to do under the law.  Antifa clearly is a domestic terrorist organization and is quite proud of that fact.  Coddling and placating them will only make them bolder.
  • What in the hell is going on with our Navy? – For the third time since May, a U.S. war ship has collided with a gigantic merchant vessel in open waters off of the Asian continent.  The Navy has announced the collision of the USS John McCain was the result of “poor seamanship”, and that this poor seamanship has resulted in ten sailors being missing at sea.  Rescue operations are underway, and we should all pray for their survival.
  • I never served in the Navy, but it is honestly baffling to me how these events can happen with modern warships.  We are long past the days of ships having to rely on such things as bells and horns to signal ships’ presence at night or in heavy fogs.  These ships are equipped with millions of dollars worth of radars, sonars and global positioning technology.  How they can miss the presence of an oil tanker in their proximity is almost beyond comprehension.
  • The previous two incidents have been followed with the usual perfunctory military inquiry followed by unsatisfying official statements.  This third incident in four months demands an official, formal investigation into the whole series of events.  One such incident can be explained as a simple accident; two as mere coincidence; but three, as they say, is a pattern, and this pattern is getting U.S. Navy personnel killed at a disturbing rate.  Time to find out why.

Just another day in poor seamanship America.

That is all.

Conservatives Must Focus on Defeating The Alinsky Democrats

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • It is a sad truth of our current societal situation that those on the left wing of the political spectrum no longer possess the ability to argue political issues based on anything resembling facts or logic.  I used to say that they no longer desire to do so, but it has become abundantly clear over the last decade that progressives simply no longer have the ability.
  • The left abandoned any effort to really debate issues at the outset of the Bill Clinton presidency, as the Clintons brought their Saul Alinsky rules for radicals tactics to the White House.  Those rules consist of a dozen tactics that focus away from working cooperatively with the opposition to reach reasonable compromises on issues, and focus instead on a mounting a constant drumbeat of demonization of the opposition.  What was at first a conscious, intentional decision by those on the left to abandon facts and logic has, after 25 years, become a complete loss of the skill.

  • Rule 12 reads “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”  This is the tactic the Democrats and the fake news media have used against President Trump since Hillary Clinton and her campaign people invented the “Russia Collusion” fantasy play two days after last November’s election.  That fantasy, and James Comey’s collusion with it, got them a Special Counel investigation, and will probably nab them a few victims like Paul Manafort for Robert Mueller and his team of Clinton/Obama shills to prosecute.  That tactic initially conformed to Alinsky Rule #6, “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”
  • But it has now worn thin with the public, as the months and months of investigations turn up no real evidence that Donald Trump and his people colluded with the Russians in any way.  As a result, it has run up onto the shoals of Alinsky Rule 7, “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.”  This is why the Democrat/fake media axis of disinformation had to move onto another tactic for freezing and polarizing the President.
  • So, along came Charlottesville.  We now know that the clown who organized the “Unite the Right” white supremacist rally there and got it permitted, Jason Kessler, is a leftist radical who was also an organizer of the George Soros-funded Occupy Wall Street movement.  Probably not coincidentally, it also appears that he is a former producer at …wait for it…CNN!  Given Kessler’s true identity, it is a safe bet that other leftwing radicals participated in that “Unite the Right” rally in order to create negative footage for CNN and other fake news outlets to air.  Classic Alinsky tactics.
  • To ensure maximum negative footage from Charlottesville, leftwingers funded by Soros arranged to bus in hundreds of Antifa and Black Lives Matter thugs to stage an un-permitted protest and turn the whole thing into a riot.  We now know that the police were told to stand down by the city’s leftist radical mayor to ensure maximum carnage took place, and then reliable Clinton toady Terry McAuliffe, the governor of Virginia, gave a completely false and inflammatory speech once the damage was all done.
  • At that point, it did not matter what President Trump said in the wake of the tragic event, he was going to be demonized by the Axis of Disinformation, because that is the final step in this strategy, in keeping with Alinsky Rule #12.  His statement on Saturday was perfectly fine.  Indeed, both former presidents with the last name of Bush issued almost exactly the same statement on Wednesday, and the media parroted it without negative comment.
  • Thus, the tactic that had drug on for too long – Russia Collusion – now has been shifted to a new tactic the leftists love – Trump is a racist, with the fake news media lapdogs loyally executing Rule #8, “Keep the pressure on.  Never let up.”
  • Make no mistake, this is the left’s playbook for as long as Donald Trump is President.  There will be no logical debates.  There will be no cooperation in congress, no compromise on Obamacare, tax reform, infrastucture or any other of the major issues.  Indeed, so long as congressional Republicans continue their own responsive tactics of cowering in fear and making carefully-worded statements that conform to the left’s current narrative, this is how it will be from now on, because that cowardly response by the GOP only breeds confidence among the left.
  • Real conservatives have a choice to make, and that choice amounts to surrender, or working to defeat the left without quarter and without compromise.  Conservatives need to deploy their own set of tactics against the left designed to achieve victory.  The tactics below are based on Alinsky Rule 1, “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.”:
    • Stop engaging them in debate – after all, they stopped engaging with you in any real way a quarter century ago;
    • Work to regulate the hell out of social media monopolies like Google, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.  Make Silicon Valley pay for its collective decision to become a propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.  Anti-trust rules exist for good reason – President Trump should work to become the reincarnation of Teddy Roosevelt;
    • The Justice Department should bring RICO prosecutions against the Clintons and top officials at their pay-to-play family crime foundation.  This classic mob-modeled racket is exactly why the RICO laws exist.  Use them;
    • Jeff Sessions should appoint a second special counsel to investigate Robert Mueller and his obvious conflicts, and his decision to hire only Democrat shills in his investigation, and a third special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton’s email abuses, and Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch’s efforts to fix the 2016 FBI investigation;
    • The President should appoint West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin to be Secretary of Energy, after moving Rick Perry over to be the Secretary of Homeland Security.  That will allow WVA GOP Gov. Justice to appoint a Republican to take Manchin’s place, raising the GOP’s senate majority by one.
    • The Republican senate majority should eliminate the filibuster rule entirely, eliminating the ability of the Democrat minority to roadblock progress.  If Majority Leader Mitch McConnell doesn’t have the stomach for this battle, conservative senators should refuse to cooperate with leadership until McConnell steps down from the job.
  • This could go on and on – there are tons of tactics at the disposal of real conservatives in this fight.  The point is this:  the Republican Party is the clear majority party in this country, and it is long past time that it started acting like it.  Republicans have allowed themselves to be cowed and paralyzed by the left’s Alinsky tactics for a quarter of a century now, and we see them still trying to engage these radicals in constructive debates on issues.
  • The Alinsky Democrats cannot be reasoned with, they can only be defeated.  Albert Einstein famously said that “doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.”  There is no time like the present for conservatives to stop being insane.

Just another day in Saul Alinsky-dominated America.

That is all.

Everyone Chill Out, OK?

Just a little perspective on the current situation, and then I’ll shut up for the day:

  • The current effort by the fake media/Democrat Party ministry of disinformation to tar President Trump as a racist and run him out of office is just a repeat of the playbook they used against Ronald Reagan in 1981-84. Same tactics, same false claims, same inflammatory protests and rhetoric. We have, in other words, seen this movie before.
  • We should all remember that the ending to that movie in 1984 was the single greatest landslide re-election of any sitting president in the history of the American Republic. The average American is much more perceptive than Democrats believe they are.
  • We also need to remember this key difference between 1984 and today – The Democrat Party’s status has radically changed:

    • The Democrat Party in 1984 was a majority national party in almost every respect outside of the Oval Office.  It controlled both houses of congress, a majority of state governorships and a majority of state legislative houses.  It was the majority party in the West, the majority party in the Rust Belt, the majority party in the Midwest, and the majority party in the Northeast.  It had real leadership in congress, and a strong bench of younger, upcoming leaders.  What it didn’t have was a strong candidate to challenge Reagan, whose popularity boomed along with the national economy, which had come roaring back in response to his program of tax cuts.
    • By contrast, The Democrat Party today is in complete and utter disarray. It has no leadership that is attractive outside one fringe group or another.  It is now nothing more than a regional party comprised of an often-conflicting collection of single-issue grievance constituencies.  Its only unifying core philosophy is one of hate:  Hate Trump, hatred of white men, hatred of the police, hatred of the military, hatred of fossil fuels and pipelines.  It has no real leadership outside of the evil George Soros and the termed-out Barack Obama and the twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.  It has no bench of young, upcoming stars to replace its current sclerotic leaders.  It is the majority party only on the West Coast and in some of the Northeast.  It controls neither house of congress, only 4 of 9 seats on the Supreme Court, only 15 of 50 governorships, and an even smaller number of state legislatures.  It is an utterly corrupt and dying entity.
    • Even better for the Republicans, the termed-out Barack Obama, whose feckless and corrupt rule from the radical left and deployment of Alinskyite tactics against his political enemies led directly to the fall of the Democrat Party, is promising to move back onto the political stage this fall.  This can only work to the GOP’s advantage.
  • So tonight, when you turn on CNN or MSNBC (for what reasons I can’t even fathom at this point other than self-abuse)  and see a panel made up of 4 squealing liberals, 2 pontificating fake Republican Trump-haters, and a token real Republican who is there for “balance”, realize that fewer than 1 out of 3000 other Americans are joining you in that inexplicable activity.  Most of them are hopelessly lost souls, but they do not a majority make.
  • Meanwhile, the U.S. economy continues to heat up; the FBI and Justice Department appear to be turning back into real, functioning law enforcement entities again; U.S. foreign policy is working again, even at the previously worthless United Nations; the swamp creatures who have infested and corrupted the State Department, the IRS, the Interior Department, the Energy Department, the EPA and the Department of (no) Education are being run off in droves; the rapidly rising production and exports of oil, coal and liquefied natural gas are turning the U.S. into an energy powerhouse on the international stage; and there have been more than 1 million new jobs created in our country during the first half of 2017.
  • As we sit here today, all of these factors and many more mean it is very likely, given good health, that Donald Trump will be a two-term president.  So do what I’m going to do this evening:  stop worrying and be happy.

That is all.

I’m Much Too Young To Feel This Damn Old

Here are some things I’m old enough to remember:

  • I’m old enough to remember when, three weeks ago, the Democrats plagiarized PapaJohn’s Pizza with a new slogan promising they were going to focus on “Better Jobs, Better Wages”, instead of dividing America.

  • I’m old enough to remember 7 days ago when Senator From The News Media John McCain lambasted President Trump for his aggressive posture towards the Crazy Little Fat Guy in North Korea, saying it wouldn’t work.
  • I’m old enough to remember all the way back to January, when Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signor declared his city to be the “Capital of the ‘Resistance’ “.
  • I’m old enough to remember when it was the communists in the Soviet Union and radical muslims in Afghanistan who were going about toppling statues and trying to erase history, rather than the Democrats here in the U.S.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the global temperature records kept by NOAA hadn’t been falsified for political purposes.
  • I’m old enough to remember when radicals on the Berkeley campus were peacefully demonstrating in favor of free speech, not violently rioting to restrict it.
  • I’m old enough to remember when senators of both parties rallied around the president of the United States whenever some nutjob dictator threatened to bomb our homeland, and when those who didn’t do so were criticized rather than praised by the news media.
  • Speaking of the news media, I’m old enough to remember when it was only partially fake.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Barack Obama said “We can’t drill our way to lower gasoline prices.”  Oops.
  • I’m old enough to remember when The National Review was a conservative journal, and The Weekly Standard wasn’t edited by Hillary Clinton shills like Stephen Hayes and Bill Kristol.

  • I’m old enough to remember when the panels on Fox News’s “Special Report” were balanced, unlike the utter disgrace they aired Monday evening.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the Republican Party actually stood for something.

  • Hell, I’m so old I remember 1995, when the GOP had real leadership in both houses of congress.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Hollywood turned out watchable movies – you know, the kind with plots and acting and stuff like that.
  • I’m old enough to remember when I wasn’t a fanatic about Dallas Cowboys Football.  Ok, that’s a lie – I’ve always been a fanatic about Dallas Cowboys Football.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Nancy Pelosi wasn’t a doddering, babbling fool.  Ok, that’s a lie, too.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Maxine Waters lived in her own congressional district.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the Federal Bureau of Investigation was a functioning, respected law enforcement agency, i.e., the pre-James Comey years.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Obamacare didn’t exist and most Americans really did have affordable healthcare insurance.
  • I’m old enough to remember those seven years when every Republican in Washington (except for Sen. Susan Collins, who is really a Democrat) promised they were going to repeal Obamacare.
  • I’m old enough to remember when we all thought John McCain was a genuine American hero.  No really, virtually all of us did.  Silly us.
  • Finally, I’m old enough to remember when both major political parties respected the constitution, the American flag, and the national anthem.  Sadly, the Democrats no longer respect any of those things, and it’s hard to be sure whether many Republicans do anymore.

I’m much too young to feel this damn old.

Elon Musk Is A Very Creative Crony Capitalist

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Elon Musk is a very creative guy.  We all know it, and often admire it.  He’s the guy who’s going to colonize Mars, the guy who’s going to roof your house with solar shingles and pave highways with solar pavers.  He’s also the guy who is now bringing us the Tesla 3 electric motor car, his new, more compact and sporty model for which he claims to have already received 500,000 orders.  It’s all so wonderful, and his giant PR operation issues about 27 press releases a week bragging about his every move.  Well, ok, not quite every move.
  • Here’s what Elon Musk’s thousands of PR agents never brag about:  None of his very creative ideas work without very heavy government subsidies.  The fact is that his various ventures in the United States alone have already brought him more than $5 billion in government subsidies, a legacy of the crony capitalism in which the Obama Administration was so heavily engaged.  That amounts to about half of Musk’s personal net worth, and those subsidies are the only reason his car company has been able to eke out “profits” in just 2 quarters during its entire existence.  Indeed, buyers of Teslas in the U.S. receive a big subsidy check from the federal government – the subsidy for the new Tesla 3 is $7500 – and also received state subsidies from taxpayers in many states.  California’s state subsidy (because of course California has a taxpayer subsidy for this stuff) is $2500, meaning that preening celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio can make themselves feel better by buying a Tesla, and enjoy a gift of a total of $10 grand from middle class America.  Cool, right?
  • Musk is facing a growing backlash over all his very creative rent-seeking endeavors, but the simple fact is he has to have the subsidies to remain in business.  For proof of that assertion, all one need do is observe Tesla’s experience in Hong Kong this year.  Tesla had sold thousands of cars the first three months of this year, when the Hong Kong government had a large subsidy in place, but when that subsidy was eliminated at the end of March, Tesla received a total of ZERO orders for its cars in Hong Kong during April.  No subsidies, no sales, and pretty soon, no company.
  • So, if you are so inclined, go out and get your Tesla soon, while the subsidies are in existence and the company is still in business.  But don’t buy one in Texas – Texas offers EV subsidies through auto dealerships, but no subsidies for the factory-direct Tesla, which does not do dealerships.  Go to California and make the taxpayers there foot part of the bill for your awesome new car.  They’ll enjoy it – they’re used to being screwed by their state’s government.
  • Sen. Manchin thinks he’s the Honey Badger.  Honey Badger don’t give a s–t, either. – Ok, West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin has now gone full nitwit.  He’s obviously been given the party’s polling data indicating that Democrats can now cuss their way to re-election, data that has led Senators like Kirstin Gillebrand and Al Franken, along with DNC Chairman Tom Perez to go on cursing sprees all over the country in recent months.  Here’s what Manchin said in an interview with the Charleston Gazette:  “I don’t give a s–t, you understand? I just don’t give a s–t,” he said. “Don’t care if I get elected, don’t care if I get defeated, how about that. If they think because I’m up for election, that I can be wrangled into voting for s–t that I don’t like and can’t explain, they’re all crazy.”  Democrats really do believe this is an effective strategy to attract votes from Millenials.  I suspect, though, that Millenials don’t give a s–t about it.  Just a guess.

Just another day in don’t give a s–t America.

That is all.

Fake News, Real News, And Winning

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Tired of winning yet? – the Dow closed at yet another all-time record high on Tuesday, now approaching the 22,000 level.  It has now risen almost 20% since Election Day.  Second quarter GDP growth – the first full quarter of the Trump presidency – was pegged at 2.6%, equaling the highest growth rate the economy ever saw during Barack Obama’s 8-year regulatory free-for-all.  We should expect to see even higher growth rates as the current administration continues to remove the regulatory shackles from the nation’s industries.
  • Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. –  Sara Carter at Circa News, one of the handful of real working journalists still active in the nation’s capital, reports that former Obama National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes has been added to the House Intelligence Committee’s growing list of suspects in the illegal unmasking investigation.  Rhodes joins the mugshot lineup that already includes Obama-era luminaries like Samantha Power, John Brennan and Susan Rice.  You may remember Rhodes, who is most famous for openly admitting to an interviewer that the Obama Administration and fake news media regularly coordinated narratives and messages.
  • My God, dude, have you no life at all? – After President Trump used the term “Paddy Wagon” in a speech to law enforcement officials last week, the fake editors at the Washington Post thought it would be a great idea to run a 700 word dissertation by some guy named James Mulvaney about why this “slur” is “insulting…to Irish Americans”.  Mr. Mulvaney, like almost every leftist in the United States, has no sense of humor.  Fair warning to parents of college-age children with law-degree aspirations:  Mulvaney is adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, at least if the WaPo can be believed on that point, which as we have found, is an unsafe assumption at best.  The lesson here is, don’t let your kids attend John Jay College.
  •  Wait, wasn’t Bain Capital the Devil to you guys just 5 years ago? – Don’t look now, but Politico reports that Barack Obama has decided that the Democrats’ best hope to run against Donald Trump in 2020 is…wait for it…wait for it…DEVAL PATRICK!  What’s that?  The name sounds sort familiar but you really have no idea who that is?  Yeah, that’s the point.  For those who, like me, had a hard time recalling exactly who this clown is while reading that story, Mr. Patrick is an ex-Governor of Massachusetts, something that, in addition to being an executive at Bain Capital, he has in common with Mitt Romney.  You remember Bain Capital, right?  That’s the firm that, in 2012, was portrayed by the Obama campaign and the fake news media as representing everything that is wrong with America.  Five years later, it’s no big deal.  But whatever, trust me on this:  If the 2020 Democrat field is made up of 80 year-old communist Bernie Sanders, 74 year-old lifetime criminal Hillary Clinton, 70 year-old fake Indian Elizabeth Warren and an obscure ex-Governor of Massachusetts, the Party might as well not even bother.
  • How did this get into the NYTimes? – Don’t look now, but a member of the editorial staff at the NYTimes somehow slipped an op-ed piece past his colleagues titled “When Progressives Embrace Hate”.  Nevermind, of course, that American progressives have embraced hate since the day American progressives became a thing, this is the NYTimes we’re talking about here.  This is actual (pardon the pun) progress!  The editor, Bari Weiss, writes about 800 words about how awful it is that the organizers of the Women’s March last January included the hate-mongering Islamist Linda Sarsour, and how repugnant it is that this hateful woman continues to be embraced by American progressives.  That’s all true, and it is indeed nice of at least one person on the NYTimes editorial board to finally notice Ms. Sarsour’s true nature, but it’s hilarious that Ms. Weiss thinks this is all somehow a surprise.  Had she been paying any attention at all, she would know that the entire progressive philosophy is based on hate.  But, to quote the great John McClain, “Welcome to the party, pal.”

Just another day in fake news media America.

Obama’s Policy Legacy Is Dying, But His Cultural Legacy Lives On

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • The Obama policy legacy continues to be systematically repealed by President Trump and congress, but sadly, the Obama cultural legacy will live on for many years thanks to the hundreds of utterly corrupt individuals he appointed to the federal judiciary.  Last night we saw the latest example of what will become a long-term lawless, corrupting influence in our daily lives, as Hawaii District Court Judge Derrick Watson issued his latest extra-constitutional ruling related to the President’s travel ban.  No doubt many of you have been laboring under the illusion that the U.S. Supreme Court – which has already ruled on the ban – is the final arbiter of judicial actions in our country.  Silly you.
  • The Supreme Court, if you remember, decided that the President’s ban is clearly constitutional, but that it should not apply to those who have close relatives in the U.S.  The Trump Administration interpreted that exception to include brothers, sisters, children and parents of U.S. citizens.  Mr. Watson – he clearly doesn’t deserve to be referred to as “Judge” – has taken it upon himself to decide for the entire nation that the Administration’s interpretation is just too darn narrow, and has ordered that the exception be expanded to “grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles and”…wait for it…wait for it…COUSINS!
  • Now, think about that last one for a minute.  Mr. Watson (Sherlock Holmes would no doubt be ashamed) does not put any limitation on what that particular designation means.  Is it just first cousins?  Second cousins?  Should we include 3rd and 4th cousins twice removed?  What about step cousins – do they have a pressing need to just willy-nilly be allowed into our country for some unexplained reason?
  • And how are our already-overwhelmed immigration officials supposed to verify such claims to cousin-ship?  Are they supposed to get online, go out to Ancestry.com, pay to establish accounts for such immigrants, and trace their ancestry back to some great-great-great-grand uncle they have in common with a U.S. resident?  See the problem?
  • So, the inevitable result of Mr. Watson’s order here will be what Barack Hussein Obama always sought to create for our society in every decision he made:  Chaos.  This is what leftist radical community organizers do, it’s what Barack Obama has spent his entire adult life doing, and it is what his hundreds of judicial appointees will continue to try to do to our society long after Mr. Obama has left office.
  • If any of this surprises you, you just haven’t been paying attention.
  • In other news, a truck carrying a load of slimy eels overturned on an Oregon highway on Thursday, and all I could think of was that this is just like when Congress comes back into session from one of its 752 annual recesses.
  • Speaking of congress, Senate Republicans revealed their  latest version of Obamacare reform legislation, and guess what?  The only “free market” piece of its 200+ pages is the 2 sentence amendment proposed by Texas Senator Ted Cruz.  Otherwise, the bill looks an awful lot like…well, it looks an awful lot like Obamacare, retaining as it does most of Obamacare’s taxes and subsidies, although it would at least eliminate the clearly unconstitutional (I don’t give a damn what Justice Roberts says) personal mandate.
  • So it’s not the promised “repeal and replace”, but rather a modest reform of the current system.   But, as modest as it is, it would reduce the mushrooming federal budget deficit, provide consumers will vastly more options in their health insurance choices, and reduce paperwork burdens on caregivers.  The wretched Susan Collins and libertarian Rand Paul have already announced they won’t vote for the bill, but the rest of Senate Rs, if they give a damn about the country, had better line up behind it and get it passed.  If they don’t, there will be hell to pay at the voting booth next November.

Just another day in Slimy Eel America.

That is all.

At Long Last, Senator Schumer, Have You No Shame?

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • The Wall Street Journal ran a story yesterday that didn’t have anything to do with Donald Trump Jr.  Yes, I swear it’s true, hard as that is to believe amid the fake news media feeding frenzy over its latest fake scandal.  The WSJ story deserves our attention because it puts the lie to the media narrative that the reason why the Trump Administration has had so few people confirmed to appointed positions is the slowness of their making the nominations, not obstruction by Chuck Schumer and his fellow Democrat blockaders.  Here’s the key passage:

“According to the Partnership for Public Service, as of June 28 Mr. Trump had nominated 178 appointees but the Senate had confirmed only 46. Barack Obama had 183 nominees confirmed by that date in his first term, and George W. Bush 130.

The White House has understandably begun to make a public issue of the delays, and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says it “has only itself to blame.” But a press release Mr. Schumer sent out Monday made the White House case, showing that the Senate has received 242 nominations but confirmed only 50 through June 30. Democrats are now the problem.”

  • So, next time some nitwit tells you that the dearth of confirmed political appointees “is all Trump’s fault!!!!!” (they always scream, don’t they?), ask them politely to quit lying to you.
  • It’s important to know that Schumer is able to accomplish this level of obstruction because he is the first Senate Minority Leader in history to simply abandon all concern for the well-being of the country and order his troops to demand cloture votes for each and every nominee presented to the Senate.  This of course comes only after Democrat Senators have used up all delaying tactics within the committee process, which can go on for months, and means that, when a nomination comes to the floor for a vote, there is a minimum 2 day delay before the matter can come up, and then a minimum of 30 hours for floor debate before the cloture vote to end debate can be held.  These are the senate rules as they exist today.  Given that as of Monday, the Senate only had 34 session days remaining on its calendar for the entire year, you can see the problem this represents.
  • But wait, there’s more!  It gets even more absurd for judicial nominees, where Senate Democrats have held up 21 of the 23 judges nominated by President Trump thus far.  Current rules for the Judiciary Committee – through which all judicial nominees must pass – include the so-called “blue card” rule.  This idiotic relic of a more collegial past, in which both political parties actually gave a damn about the country, forces Judiciary to wait until each nominee has received “blue cards” of approval from both senators who represent the state in which the judge would serve.
  • Here’s the thing we all must understand:  The Democrat Party does not give a damn about the future of this country.  The Party as a whole quit caring about national security half a century ago, it no longer cares about the ability of the executive branch to function properly, and it certainly doesn’t care about the ability of the judicial branch to adjudicate justice.  This is, after all, the political party that worked feverishly in Virginia last year to ensure convicted felons were able to vote in the November elections – the Democrats in fact view felons and violent criminals as a natural Democrat voter bloc.  And don’t even think about arguing that point with me – it is manifestly true.
  • Several months ago, I wrote a piece that discussed the fact that our constitutional system of government is to a large extent based on the assumption that voters would elect people to office who actually have a sense of shame.  The assumption was that a free, independent press protected by the First Amendment would serve as the public’s watchdog and shame bad actors into better behavior by exposing their abuses.  Barack Obama was able to engage in all sorts of shameful, often illegal behavior in office because he had no sense of shame, and the fake news media refused to report on his abuses.  Hillary Clinton was able to stay out of prison because James Comey and Loretta Lynch have no sense of shame, and the fake news media work feverishly to cover up her illegal behavior.
  • By the same token, Chuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats have no sense of shame, no concern for the country, and know the fake news media will never focus on their own abuses.  The occasional report in the WSJ is welcome, but will do nothing to force the Democrats to do what’s best for the country.
  • The proper staffing and functioning of the executive and judicial branches of the federal government have always assumed that members of both political parties in the Senate would place the needs of country above the crass interests of party.  Given that Democrats are obviously no longer willing to do that, the time has come for the GOP majority in the Senate to put an end to rules that are relics of a past that is long gone and will never return.

Just another day in Democrats have no shame America.

That is all.

Trump’s Warsaw Speech Shows Why The Radical Left’s Rage Won’t Get Better

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Quite often over the last eight months, I’ve been asked this question by friends and contacts disturbed by the increasingly radical and violent reaction by those on the American political left to the election and presidency of Donald Trump:  “When does this get better?  When does it calm down?”

My answer has been consistent:  “It doesn’t as long as Donald Trump is President.”

One great way to understand why it doesn’t, why the left – led by the ongoing tacit approval of every leader of the national Democrat Party – will only continue to become more radical and violent during the four or eight years of the Trump presidency, one need only read this passage from the President’s speech in Warsaw last week:

Finally, on both sides of the Atlantic, our citizens are confronted by yet another danger — one firmly within our control. This danger is invisible to some but familiar to the Poles: the steady creep of government bureaucracy that drains the vitality and wealth of the people. The West became great not because of paperwork and regulations but because people were allowed to chase their dreams and pursue their destinies.

Americans, Poles, and the nations of Europe value individual freedom and sovereignty. We must work together to confront forces, whether they come from inside or out, from the South or the East, that threaten over time to undermine these values and to erase the bonds of culture, faith and tradition that make us who we are.  If left unchecked, these forces will undermine our courage, sap our spirit, and weaken our will to defend ourselves and our societies.

But just as our adversaries and enemies of the past learned here in Poland, we know that these forces, too, are doomed to fail if we want them to fail. And we do, indeed, want them to fail. They are doomed not only because our alliance is strong, our countries are resilient, and our power is unmatched. Through all of that, you have to say everything is true. Our adversaries, however, are doomed because we will never forget who we are. And if we don’t forget who are, we just can’t be beaten. Americans will never forget.  The nations of Europe will never forget.

This passage encapsulates the core beliefs of the Trump Presidency:  that America is a great nation, that the culture that made it great will ultimately prevail, that borders and nationalities are important, that free people pursuing their dreams are what make America and other Western democracies great, that faceless bureaucrats piling burden atop burden on the people are an inhibitor to greatness, that forces who work to erase our values and change our culture are the greatest threat to our survival.  These are the core beliefs of a man and his supporters who truly love America, beliefs that are complete anathema to everyone who has succumbed to leftist doctrine.

The people who populate today’s radical left are by and large people under the age of 40 who bought into the neo-marxist, Alinskyite view of American history that has been taught on most college campuses since the early 1980s, and by craven Democrat politicians – like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the Fake Indian Senator from Massachusetts – who seek to benefit politically by supporting their efforts.  In this view, America is the world’s Original Sin, the cause of all problems in the third world, an inherently racist, homophobic, Islamaphobic and every other kind of -phobic they can come up with society, and because of this, Americans do not deserve the prosperity and freedoms we have enjoyed.  Thus, that prosperity must be redistributed to the rest of the world via international scams like the Paris Climate Accords and major multi-lateral trade agreements, and those freedoms systematically diminished by the constant overlay of new, increasingly intrusive regulations from the federal government.

If you’re thinking, hey, that’s what we got from the Obama Administration, well, you’re catching on here.

It’s also what we would have gotten more and more and more from a Hillary Clinton presidency.  This, at its core, is why you have seen this never-ending outrage, this increasingly violent response from the American left, and it is why you will never see any Democrat national leader condemn the increasingly outrageous and violent acts against our society perpetrated by groups like Antifa.  We have to understand that such groups are largely created, organized and funded by George Soros and others who also fund the Democrat Party.   They are all interrelated, all funded and directed by the same people.

Prior to November 8, 2016, these people believed they had everything set up for the ultimate destruction of American culture and the socialization of American democracy.  Barack Obama had kept his 2008 promise to work to “fundamentally transform this nation,” and believed he had everything set in place for his designated successor, Hillary Clinton, to finish the job.  The bureaucracies were firmly in place and constantly growing; the justice department, state department, EPA and intelligence agencies had all been completely corrupted; the federal judiciary had been filled with radical judges who view the Constitution as a minor inconvenience, and the national news media was populated almost entirely by true believers who work hard every day to brainwash the public.  Even better, the borders were wide open, with potential future Democrat voter blocs pouring into the country every day.

It was all there.  Those on the radical left had come so close to their goal that they could taste it.  All that remained was to count the votes, anoint the new leftist strong woman, and complete the job.  Four years of Hillary might get it done; eight years certainly would.

But the vote did not go their way, and the winner was a man who symbolizes everything they hate:  success, wealth, love of country, support for the culture and way of life that made America a great nation to begin with.  It wasn’t just that a Republican had won, it was that the wrong kind of Republican had won:  a Republican who had no fear of them or their propaganda agents in the national news media; a Republican who promised to aggressively go about reversing every policy implemented during the last eight years, and has already made great progress in doing so; a Republican who promised to work to take America out of the international redistributionist scams entered into by Obama, and has already done so; a Republican who promised to replace the feckless Obama policy of “leading from behind” with the renewal of real American leadership in international relations, and has already done so.  They could have lived with another Republican president who feared the fake news media and whose policies were just slower versions of Democrat priorities; they can’t live with Donald Trump, just as they never really could live with Ronald Reagan.

Thus, this is not going to get better as long as Donald Trump remains the President of the United States.  The outrage won’t end – it will only grow stronger.  The invention of phony scandals will not end – they will just constantly shift and grow increasingly absurd.  The constant assassination dog-whistling in the fake news media will only grow more overt and intense.  The radical American left is no different than ISIS:  it cannot be appeased, it cannot be contained, it cannot be negotiated with.  It fundamentally cannot be reasoned with via truth and facts because it fundamentally rejects reason, truth and facts.  It must be defeated, again and again and again, by Americans of good will who want our nation to remain free.  Ultimately, it must be destroyed.

Make no mistake about it:  If the radical left in this country is not ultimately destroyed, it will ultimately destroy America as we know it.  This is the reality in which we live.  These are very, very perilous times.

That is all.
