Yes, CNN, Trump Is Reversing Obama’s “Legacy”. That’s Why He Won.

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • So, the members of the Motion Picture Academy, a large portion of whom are no doubt sexual abusers of one form or another themselves, voted to kick Harvey Weinstein out of the membership of their illustrious group.  Boy, that’ll show him.
  • Late night talk show host and un-funny comic Jimmy Kimmel, fresh off of being proclaimed to be “America’s moral conscience” by some idiot writing for CNN, told a CNN fake journalist on Friday that “I am not America’s moral conscience.”  Can somebody please let me know when this particular debate is over?  Thanks.
  • If you’re thinking the Clinton family is really going to return any of that Weinstein hush money they received over the last 20 years, watch the video at this link of Chelsea Clinton fleeing to the safety of her car to avoid answering any questions about it on Saturday.  Not one thin dime of that quarter million that went into the Clinton Crime Family Fake Foundation will go anywhere else.  Forget about it.
  • Don’t look now – ok, go ahead and look – but the fake journalists who infest CNN are waking up to the fact that President Donald Trump (I still never get tired of typing that) is – gasp! – focusing his efforts on reversing the anti-American legacy of Barack Obama.  Why, the nerve!
  • Writing on CNN’s website on Friday, that keeper of the Obama flame Chris Cilizza says that “The key to understanding Trump’s motivations here are entirely contained in the ACA’s shorthand nickname: Obamacare. It’s named after the man — former President Barack Obama (duh) — who shepherded it into existence. And that’s exactly why Trump wants to get rid of it.”  Yes, to the nitwits who pretend to be reporters and opinionists at Obama Central, Trump’s dismantling of an utterly failed government takeover of 1/6th of the nation’s economy has literally nothing to do with the undeniable fact that it is horrible policy that has taken many millions of Americans completely out of the health insurance system, and is 100% because Trump just doesn’t like Obama.
  • This is what CNN calls “insightful analysis.”  My goodness.
  • Cilizza cannot bring himself to acknowledge the truth about Trump’s order to rescind Obama’s executive order that gave hundreds of millions in subsidies each year to insurance companies, which is that Obama’s order was patently unconstitutional.  The Constitution clearly requires that all federal spending must be authorized by congress, and congress never authorized those payments.  The fact is that Trump’s order is simply one piece of his ongoing campaign to return this country to the rule of law, a concept that was studiously ignored during Obama’s 8 years in office.
  • So yes, the Trump presidency has thus far been largely focused on reversing the legacy of lawlessness that preceded it.  this used to be known as responsible governance.
  • And what a success this effort to erase the Obama legacy from our midst has been thus far.  With the reversal of literally thousands of terrible, economy-killing regulations and dozens of patently illegal executive orders, Trump’s administration has demonstrated that the Obama “legacy” was almost entirely built on a foundation of matchsticks that would go up in flames with the election of any president who actually cares about the country.
  • While the fake news media has done its best to ignore it, President Trump’s reversals of Obama’s failed legacy have also extended to the War on Terror, and the destruction of ISIS in Syria and Iraq, which is largely complete.  Literally thousands of ISIS fighters in Syria and Iraq have surrendered over the past few weeks with barely a mention on the nightly newscasts, and ISIS is on the verge of defeat in the key strongholds of Raqqa and Mayadeen, leaving Boukamal as the terror group’s lone remaining harbor.
  • Thus, just 9 months into his presidency, Trump’s military leaders have, working with Syria and others, almost wiped out the terrorist group that Obama fooled around with and allowed to grow throughout his second term in office.  Chris Cilizza is no doubt horrified by this as well.
  • But out here in Flyover Country, us Normals are pretty happy to see ISIS being wiped out, the stock market setting records almost every day, the economy booming, our manufacturing industries investing tens of billions of dollars in new plants and equipment, and even about having a President who is willing to refer to Christmas as “Christmas.”
  • Chris Cilizza and the rest of the Obama-worshippers at CNN will never understand it, but all of this is exactly why Donald Trump is our President today.

Just another day in fake news America.

That is all.

Saturday Scattershooting While Waiving Bye-Bye To Tom Price

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Well, she was talking about those ‘other’ women – Michelle Obama said that “any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice.”  No word from the former First Lady on what she was doing during the 2008 Democrat nominating contest when she actively campaigned for a mean ol’ man against Mrs. Clinton and presumably voted for her husband rather than her “own voice” in the Illinois primary that year.
  • Tired of winning yet?  Part 1 – all the stock indexes closed at all-time record highs yet again on Friday, as the U.S. economy continues to hum along in response to the Trump Administration’s ongoing program to remove the shackles of unnecessary soviet-style regulations that were piled onto it during the Obama years.  This has happened so often during the last 8 months that it has become passe’ to even mention it.  But there, I mentioned it.
  • Tired of winning yet?  Part II – U.S. GDP for the 2nd quarter of 2017 was raised to a final estimate of 3.1% on Friday, the highest quarterly rate of economic growth in many years.  If you want to know why, see the bit about removal of soviet-style regulations above.  This is not exactly rocket science.
  • Because that’s what happens when a Republican charges taxpayers $1 million in air travel in just 8 months – To literally nobody’s surprise, President Trump fired HHS Secretary Tom Price Friday afternoon, after it had been revealed that he felt his entire job was to fly in high style all over the damn world every week at exorbitant taxpayer expense.  He apparently didn’t break any laws, and he didn’t do anything myriad Obama officials had not done the past 8 years, but unlike Democrat presidencies, Republican administrations must hold their people accountable for this kind of behavior.  Mr. Price apparently didn’t understand that, which means he was too dumb to hold a secretarial position in the first place.
  • I wrote on Thursday about my belief that the just-begun effort by the GOP establishment leadership in congress to move a tax reform bill is just a Kabuki dance, and that the outcome is already fore-ordained to be a McConnell/Ryan joint presser in December in which they tell us all they did their best but they just ran out of time.  If you don’t believe that, read the piece linked here in The Hill, in which various House Republicans are already speculating how the bill will ultimately be killed in the Senate, maybe by the same group of RINOs who killed the Obamacare bill.
  • Hell, you’ve even got the Chairman of Senate Finance, Utah Senator Orin Hatch – who is likely to retire next year, and thus never have to face the voters again – talking about ways to kill the effort in public.  The probable truth is that Mitch McConnell already has 8 or 9 members of his GOP caucus who can be counted on to vote against any version of a tax reform bill if he needs them.
  • They’ll couch their votes with objections like Hatch’s, i.e., “I feel very strongly we need to preserve that wonderful deduction for state and local taxes, oh my”.  Maybe Susan Collins’ objection will be her strong feeling that we need to give a special tax credit to any woman who seeks an abortion at Planned Parenthood clinics;  Lamar Alexander might want to preserve some special tax break for his state’s whiskey distillers; Lisa Murkowski might feel strongly about the need to preserve some tax program that benefits polar bears; John McCain might think he’s voting on the EPA appropriations bill rather than a tax bill;  regardless, the three GOP ‘no’ votes needed to kill this thing are already out there in some combination of senators or another.
  • I hate to be the bearer of this bad news because we really do need to reform our absurd tax system, but watching this all play out is like going to a movie whose previews have already revealed the final scene.  You already know how it’s going to end, but you go anyway just to see the details of how it all plays out.

Just another day in GOP congressional Kabuki dance America.

That is all.

James Comey: All Phony, All The Time

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Hey, remember waaaayyyyyy back in July of 2016, when bi-polar former FBI Director James “Leaky” Comey feigned seriousness in his nationally televised statement about his decision not to refer Hillary Clinton for criminal prosecution over her rampant disclosure of national secrets on an illegal email server?  Remember how he got a little choked up with emotion a couple times there, almost looking like he was on the verge of tears?  Remember how he claimed his decision was an excruciating one, a decision based on long months of arduous investigation by himself and dozens of his FBI agents?  Good times…good times….
  • Yeah, that was all fake.  Turns out, he made that decision months before – in April, in fact, and that everything that took place related to the investigation after that was just for show.  This was all quietly revealed on Thursday with the release of transcripts from a closed Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that took place earlier this year.  In the grand pantheon of sleazy American public servants, it is hard to think of anyone more sleazy than James Comey has turned out to be.  But hey, that’s how a career bureaucrat gets himself a multi-million dollar book deal and becomes a hero to those on the political left.
  • And speaking of FBI sleaze…:  Don’t think the systemic corruption at the FBI has ended just because Comey and Barack Obama and Loretta Lynch are no longer in charge.  Earlier this week, the FBI formally announced that it was withholding a mass of documents related to the fake investigation of the Clinton email scandal “due to lack of public interest” in the matter.  Even J. Edgar Hoover, as hopelessly corrupt as he was, rolled over in his grave at that bit of shameless sophistry.
  • But all is not lost:  On Thursday, Federal Judge James Boasberg ordered the agency to immediately release all previously unreleased documents related to the investigation.  While that’s wonderful, the thing that really needs to happen here is for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to get his butt over to the FBI building and fire a bunch of people.
  • Twitter progressives before yesterday:  “Trump is rich!!!! Why won’t he donate his own money to the hurricane relief funds!!!!!!!”  Twitter progressives this morning, after Trump gave $1 million:  “Trump doesn’t care !!!  He’s just doing it for the attention!!!!”
  • Truth about 99.9% of those Twitter progressives:  they haven’t given one thin dime of their own money to any of the relief funds.  If it weren’t for rank hypocrisy, these people would have no discernible personality traits other than undying rage.
  • Barack and Michelle Obama, who already have a home in the outskirts of Washington, DC valued at about $9 million, are now looking to purchase a vacant lot in Martha’s Vineyard valued at $15 million.  This is a couple who have never in their lives earned a combined salary in excess of $400,000 per year.  Politics is obviously great work if you can get it.
  • These are not reasonable people you’re talking to, Senator.:  California’s geriatric Sen. Dianne Feinstein is in big, big trouble with her party’s never-ending rage voter base, after she advised a gathering of her constituents to “be patient” with President Trump at a townhall meeting earlier this week.  Big mistake, saying something like that to a group of people whose only reason for getting up out of bed each morning is so they can project their rage on anyone they happen to run into, either in person or on social media.  So now they’re projecting some of that never-ending rage on the senior Senator from California.  Cool.
  • They need to learn that bigotry is now cool among those on the political left.:  The UK Sun reports that L’Oreal has now fired its first trans-gender model after he…oops…’Ze’ went on a Facebook rant accusing all white people of being inherently racist.  Apparently, the management at L’Oreal needs to undergo a joint sensitivity training session at which they learn that this model was simply parroting the talking points of the Democratic National Committee.

Just another day in Through The Looking Glass America.

The President Should, But Won’t, Declare Antifa A Terrorist Organization

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Terrorism comes in many names.  “Antifa” is one of them. – An interesting, though little-noticed, item related to the fascist hate group “Antifa” (which ironically is a contraction for ‘Anti-Fascist’) story is developing as a part of the White House on-line petitioning process that was created by the Obama Administration.  This petition demands that the Trump Administration formally recognize Antifa as a terrorist organization, which it clearly and unambiguously is.  “AntiFa has earned this title due to its violent actions in multiple cities and their influence in the killings of multiple police officers throughout the United States,” the petition reads in part.
  • The process requires that such petitions obtain 100,000 signatures of support from U.S. citizens within 30 days of their filing.  This Antifa-related petition was filed last Thursday, meaning it received the necessary support in less than four days.  So, obviously there is a great deal of interest in and support for this effort, most of it probably concentrated among Donald Trump’s voter base.
  • It will be interesting to observe how the White House responds to this petition – and the rules for this process do require such a response whenever any petition reaches the critical mass of support.  There is no doubt at all that Antifa is indeed a domestic terrorist organization.  Its’ spokespeople, such as they are, bragged about being exactly that in interviews on NBC and CNN this past week, claiming their strategy is to “commit violence in order to create peace,” a statement so laughably nonsensical that only NBC’s Chuck Todd and the peabrain on-air talent at CNN could listen to it without openly laughing.  This group commits violence wherever it shows its ugly, masked face, beating opponents with baseball bats laced with nails, spraying people and police alike with pepper spray and mace and urine, and wantonly burning buildings and destroying public and private property alike.  Committing violence for shock value is the very definition of terrorism.
  • Don’t hold your breath waiting for this to happen. –  President Trump’s team of advisors will no doubt counsel him not to take this step because it would be “divisive” (I can hear H.R. McMaster saying those words as I type this), and out of fear of incurring negative media coverage, as if this President ever gets anything else from the fake news media.
  • Still, if nothing else, this puts the President and his advisors on the spot and at least forces them to focus on the question.  It will also force Mr. Trump to clearly recognize those among his advisors who counsel him to avoid doing what he clearly knows is the right thing to do under the law.  Antifa clearly is a domestic terrorist organization and is quite proud of that fact.  Coddling and placating them will only make them bolder.
  • What in the hell is going on with our Navy? – For the third time since May, a U.S. war ship has collided with a gigantic merchant vessel in open waters off of the Asian continent.  The Navy has announced the collision of the USS John McCain was the result of “poor seamanship”, and that this poor seamanship has resulted in ten sailors being missing at sea.  Rescue operations are underway, and we should all pray for their survival.
  • I never served in the Navy, but it is honestly baffling to me how these events can happen with modern warships.  We are long past the days of ships having to rely on such things as bells and horns to signal ships’ presence at night or in heavy fogs.  These ships are equipped with millions of dollars worth of radars, sonars and global positioning technology.  How they can miss the presence of an oil tanker in their proximity is almost beyond comprehension.
  • The previous two incidents have been followed with the usual perfunctory military inquiry followed by unsatisfying official statements.  This third incident in four months demands an official, formal investigation into the whole series of events.  One such incident can be explained as a simple accident; two as mere coincidence; but three, as they say, is a pattern, and this pattern is getting U.S. Navy personnel killed at a disturbing rate.  Time to find out why.

Just another day in poor seamanship America.

That is all.

Conservatives Must Focus on Defeating The Alinsky Democrats

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • It is a sad truth of our current societal situation that those on the left wing of the political spectrum no longer possess the ability to argue political issues based on anything resembling facts or logic.  I used to say that they no longer desire to do so, but it has become abundantly clear over the last decade that progressives simply no longer have the ability.
  • The left abandoned any effort to really debate issues at the outset of the Bill Clinton presidency, as the Clintons brought their Saul Alinsky rules for radicals tactics to the White House.  Those rules consist of a dozen tactics that focus away from working cooperatively with the opposition to reach reasonable compromises on issues, and focus instead on a mounting a constant drumbeat of demonization of the opposition.  What was at first a conscious, intentional decision by those on the left to abandon facts and logic has, after 25 years, become a complete loss of the skill.

  • Rule 12 reads “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”  This is the tactic the Democrats and the fake news media have used against President Trump since Hillary Clinton and her campaign people invented the “Russia Collusion” fantasy play two days after last November’s election.  That fantasy, and James Comey’s collusion with it, got them a Special Counel investigation, and will probably nab them a few victims like Paul Manafort for Robert Mueller and his team of Clinton/Obama shills to prosecute.  That tactic initially conformed to Alinsky Rule #6, “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”
  • But it has now worn thin with the public, as the months and months of investigations turn up no real evidence that Donald Trump and his people colluded with the Russians in any way.  As a result, it has run up onto the shoals of Alinsky Rule 7, “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.”  This is why the Democrat/fake media axis of disinformation had to move onto another tactic for freezing and polarizing the President.
  • So, along came Charlottesville.  We now know that the clown who organized the “Unite the Right” white supremacist rally there and got it permitted, Jason Kessler, is a leftist radical who was also an organizer of the George Soros-funded Occupy Wall Street movement.  Probably not coincidentally, it also appears that he is a former producer at …wait for it…CNN!  Given Kessler’s true identity, it is a safe bet that other leftwing radicals participated in that “Unite the Right” rally in order to create negative footage for CNN and other fake news outlets to air.  Classic Alinsky tactics.
  • To ensure maximum negative footage from Charlottesville, leftwingers funded by Soros arranged to bus in hundreds of Antifa and Black Lives Matter thugs to stage an un-permitted protest and turn the whole thing into a riot.  We now know that the police were told to stand down by the city’s leftist radical mayor to ensure maximum carnage took place, and then reliable Clinton toady Terry McAuliffe, the governor of Virginia, gave a completely false and inflammatory speech once the damage was all done.
  • At that point, it did not matter what President Trump said in the wake of the tragic event, he was going to be demonized by the Axis of Disinformation, because that is the final step in this strategy, in keeping with Alinsky Rule #12.  His statement on Saturday was perfectly fine.  Indeed, both former presidents with the last name of Bush issued almost exactly the same statement on Wednesday, and the media parroted it without negative comment.
  • Thus, the tactic that had drug on for too long – Russia Collusion – now has been shifted to a new tactic the leftists love – Trump is a racist, with the fake news media lapdogs loyally executing Rule #8, “Keep the pressure on.  Never let up.”
  • Make no mistake, this is the left’s playbook for as long as Donald Trump is President.  There will be no logical debates.  There will be no cooperation in congress, no compromise on Obamacare, tax reform, infrastucture or any other of the major issues.  Indeed, so long as congressional Republicans continue their own responsive tactics of cowering in fear and making carefully-worded statements that conform to the left’s current narrative, this is how it will be from now on, because that cowardly response by the GOP only breeds confidence among the left.
  • Real conservatives have a choice to make, and that choice amounts to surrender, or working to defeat the left without quarter and without compromise.  Conservatives need to deploy their own set of tactics against the left designed to achieve victory.  The tactics below are based on Alinsky Rule 1, “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.”:
    • Stop engaging them in debate – after all, they stopped engaging with you in any real way a quarter century ago;
    • Work to regulate the hell out of social media monopolies like Google, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.  Make Silicon Valley pay for its collective decision to become a propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.  Anti-trust rules exist for good reason – President Trump should work to become the reincarnation of Teddy Roosevelt;
    • The Justice Department should bring RICO prosecutions against the Clintons and top officials at their pay-to-play family crime foundation.  This classic mob-modeled racket is exactly why the RICO laws exist.  Use them;
    • Jeff Sessions should appoint a second special counsel to investigate Robert Mueller and his obvious conflicts, and his decision to hire only Democrat shills in his investigation, and a third special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton’s email abuses, and Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch’s efforts to fix the 2016 FBI investigation;
    • The President should appoint West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin to be Secretary of Energy, after moving Rick Perry over to be the Secretary of Homeland Security.  That will allow WVA GOP Gov. Justice to appoint a Republican to take Manchin’s place, raising the GOP’s senate majority by one.
    • The Republican senate majority should eliminate the filibuster rule entirely, eliminating the ability of the Democrat minority to roadblock progress.  If Majority Leader Mitch McConnell doesn’t have the stomach for this battle, conservative senators should refuse to cooperate with leadership until McConnell steps down from the job.
  • This could go on and on – there are tons of tactics at the disposal of real conservatives in this fight.  The point is this:  the Republican Party is the clear majority party in this country, and it is long past time that it started acting like it.  Republicans have allowed themselves to be cowed and paralyzed by the left’s Alinsky tactics for a quarter of a century now, and we see them still trying to engage these radicals in constructive debates on issues.
  • The Alinsky Democrats cannot be reasoned with, they can only be defeated.  Albert Einstein famously said that “doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.”  There is no time like the present for conservatives to stop being insane.

Just another day in Saul Alinsky-dominated America.

That is all.

Everyone Chill Out, OK?

Just a little perspective on the current situation, and then I’ll shut up for the day:

  • The current effort by the fake media/Democrat Party ministry of disinformation to tar President Trump as a racist and run him out of office is just a repeat of the playbook they used against Ronald Reagan in 1981-84. Same tactics, same false claims, same inflammatory protests and rhetoric. We have, in other words, seen this movie before.
  • We should all remember that the ending to that movie in 1984 was the single greatest landslide re-election of any sitting president in the history of the American Republic. The average American is much more perceptive than Democrats believe they are.
  • We also need to remember this key difference between 1984 and today – The Democrat Party’s status has radically changed:

    • The Democrat Party in 1984 was a majority national party in almost every respect outside of the Oval Office.  It controlled both houses of congress, a majority of state governorships and a majority of state legislative houses.  It was the majority party in the West, the majority party in the Rust Belt, the majority party in the Midwest, and the majority party in the Northeast.  It had real leadership in congress, and a strong bench of younger, upcoming leaders.  What it didn’t have was a strong candidate to challenge Reagan, whose popularity boomed along with the national economy, which had come roaring back in response to his program of tax cuts.
    • By contrast, The Democrat Party today is in complete and utter disarray. It has no leadership that is attractive outside one fringe group or another.  It is now nothing more than a regional party comprised of an often-conflicting collection of single-issue grievance constituencies.  Its only unifying core philosophy is one of hate:  Hate Trump, hatred of white men, hatred of the police, hatred of the military, hatred of fossil fuels and pipelines.  It has no real leadership outside of the evil George Soros and the termed-out Barack Obama and the twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.  It has no bench of young, upcoming stars to replace its current sclerotic leaders.  It is the majority party only on the West Coast and in some of the Northeast.  It controls neither house of congress, only 4 of 9 seats on the Supreme Court, only 15 of 50 governorships, and an even smaller number of state legislatures.  It is an utterly corrupt and dying entity.
    • Even better for the Republicans, the termed-out Barack Obama, whose feckless and corrupt rule from the radical left and deployment of Alinskyite tactics against his political enemies led directly to the fall of the Democrat Party, is promising to move back onto the political stage this fall.  This can only work to the GOP’s advantage.
  • So tonight, when you turn on CNN or MSNBC (for what reasons I can’t even fathom at this point other than self-abuse)  and see a panel made up of 4 squealing liberals, 2 pontificating fake Republican Trump-haters, and a token real Republican who is there for “balance”, realize that fewer than 1 out of 3000 other Americans are joining you in that inexplicable activity.  Most of them are hopelessly lost souls, but they do not a majority make.
  • Meanwhile, the U.S. economy continues to heat up; the FBI and Justice Department appear to be turning back into real, functioning law enforcement entities again; U.S. foreign policy is working again, even at the previously worthless United Nations; the swamp creatures who have infested and corrupted the State Department, the IRS, the Interior Department, the Energy Department, the EPA and the Department of (no) Education are being run off in droves; the rapidly rising production and exports of oil, coal and liquefied natural gas are turning the U.S. into an energy powerhouse on the international stage; and there have been more than 1 million new jobs created in our country during the first half of 2017.
  • As we sit here today, all of these factors and many more mean it is very likely, given good health, that Donald Trump will be a two-term president.  So do what I’m going to do this evening:  stop worrying and be happy.

That is all.

I’m Much Too Young To Feel This Damn Old

Here are some things I’m old enough to remember:

  • I’m old enough to remember when, three weeks ago, the Democrats plagiarized PapaJohn’s Pizza with a new slogan promising they were going to focus on “Better Jobs, Better Wages”, instead of dividing America.

  • I’m old enough to remember 7 days ago when Senator From The News Media John McCain lambasted President Trump for his aggressive posture towards the Crazy Little Fat Guy in North Korea, saying it wouldn’t work.
  • I’m old enough to remember all the way back to January, when Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signor declared his city to be the “Capital of the ‘Resistance’ “.
  • I’m old enough to remember when it was the communists in the Soviet Union and radical muslims in Afghanistan who were going about toppling statues and trying to erase history, rather than the Democrats here in the U.S.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the global temperature records kept by NOAA hadn’t been falsified for political purposes.
  • I’m old enough to remember when radicals on the Berkeley campus were peacefully demonstrating in favor of free speech, not violently rioting to restrict it.
  • I’m old enough to remember when senators of both parties rallied around the president of the United States whenever some nutjob dictator threatened to bomb our homeland, and when those who didn’t do so were criticized rather than praised by the news media.
  • Speaking of the news media, I’m old enough to remember when it was only partially fake.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Barack Obama said “We can’t drill our way to lower gasoline prices.”  Oops.
  • I’m old enough to remember when The National Review was a conservative journal, and The Weekly Standard wasn’t edited by Hillary Clinton shills like Stephen Hayes and Bill Kristol.

  • I’m old enough to remember when the panels on Fox News’s “Special Report” were balanced, unlike the utter disgrace they aired Monday evening.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the Republican Party actually stood for something.

  • Hell, I’m so old I remember 1995, when the GOP had real leadership in both houses of congress.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Hollywood turned out watchable movies – you know, the kind with plots and acting and stuff like that.
  • I’m old enough to remember when I wasn’t a fanatic about Dallas Cowboys Football.  Ok, that’s a lie – I’ve always been a fanatic about Dallas Cowboys Football.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Nancy Pelosi wasn’t a doddering, babbling fool.  Ok, that’s a lie, too.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Maxine Waters lived in her own congressional district.
  • I’m old enough to remember when the Federal Bureau of Investigation was a functioning, respected law enforcement agency, i.e., the pre-James Comey years.
  • I’m old enough to remember when Obamacare didn’t exist and most Americans really did have affordable healthcare insurance.
  • I’m old enough to remember those seven years when every Republican in Washington (except for Sen. Susan Collins, who is really a Democrat) promised they were going to repeal Obamacare.
  • I’m old enough to remember when we all thought John McCain was a genuine American hero.  No really, virtually all of us did.  Silly us.
  • Finally, I’m old enough to remember when both major political parties respected the constitution, the American flag, and the national anthem.  Sadly, the Democrats no longer respect any of those things, and it’s hard to be sure whether many Republicans do anymore.

I’m much too young to feel this damn old.

Elon Musk Is A Very Creative Crony Capitalist

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Elon Musk is a very creative guy.  We all know it, and often admire it.  He’s the guy who’s going to colonize Mars, the guy who’s going to roof your house with solar shingles and pave highways with solar pavers.  He’s also the guy who is now bringing us the Tesla 3 electric motor car, his new, more compact and sporty model for which he claims to have already received 500,000 orders.  It’s all so wonderful, and his giant PR operation issues about 27 press releases a week bragging about his every move.  Well, ok, not quite every move.
  • Here’s what Elon Musk’s thousands of PR agents never brag about:  None of his very creative ideas work without very heavy government subsidies.  The fact is that his various ventures in the United States alone have already brought him more than $5 billion in government subsidies, a legacy of the crony capitalism in which the Obama Administration was so heavily engaged.  That amounts to about half of Musk’s personal net worth, and those subsidies are the only reason his car company has been able to eke out “profits” in just 2 quarters during its entire existence.  Indeed, buyers of Teslas in the U.S. receive a big subsidy check from the federal government – the subsidy for the new Tesla 3 is $7500 – and also received state subsidies from taxpayers in many states.  California’s state subsidy (because of course California has a taxpayer subsidy for this stuff) is $2500, meaning that preening celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio can make themselves feel better by buying a Tesla, and enjoy a gift of a total of $10 grand from middle class America.  Cool, right?
  • Musk is facing a growing backlash over all his very creative rent-seeking endeavors, but the simple fact is he has to have the subsidies to remain in business.  For proof of that assertion, all one need do is observe Tesla’s experience in Hong Kong this year.  Tesla had sold thousands of cars the first three months of this year, when the Hong Kong government had a large subsidy in place, but when that subsidy was eliminated at the end of March, Tesla received a total of ZERO orders for its cars in Hong Kong during April.  No subsidies, no sales, and pretty soon, no company.
  • So, if you are so inclined, go out and get your Tesla soon, while the subsidies are in existence and the company is still in business.  But don’t buy one in Texas – Texas offers EV subsidies through auto dealerships, but no subsidies for the factory-direct Tesla, which does not do dealerships.  Go to California and make the taxpayers there foot part of the bill for your awesome new car.  They’ll enjoy it – they’re used to being screwed by their state’s government.
  • Sen. Manchin thinks he’s the Honey Badger.  Honey Badger don’t give a s–t, either. – Ok, West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin has now gone full nitwit.  He’s obviously been given the party’s polling data indicating that Democrats can now cuss their way to re-election, data that has led Senators like Kirstin Gillebrand and Al Franken, along with DNC Chairman Tom Perez to go on cursing sprees all over the country in recent months.  Here’s what Manchin said in an interview with the Charleston Gazette:  “I don’t give a s–t, you understand? I just don’t give a s–t,” he said. “Don’t care if I get elected, don’t care if I get defeated, how about that. If they think because I’m up for election, that I can be wrangled into voting for s–t that I don’t like and can’t explain, they’re all crazy.”  Democrats really do believe this is an effective strategy to attract votes from Millenials.  I suspect, though, that Millenials don’t give a s–t about it.  Just a guess.

Just another day in don’t give a s–t America.

That is all.

Fake News, Real News, And Winning

Today’s Campaign Update

(Because The Campaign Never Ends)

  • Tired of winning yet? – the Dow closed at yet another all-time record high on Tuesday, now approaching the 22,000 level.  It has now risen almost 20% since Election Day.  Second quarter GDP growth – the first full quarter of the Trump presidency – was pegged at 2.6%, equaling the highest growth rate the economy ever saw during Barack Obama’s 8-year regulatory free-for-all.  We should expect to see even higher growth rates as the current administration continues to remove the regulatory shackles from the nation’s industries.
  • Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. –  Sara Carter at Circa News, one of the handful of real working journalists still active in the nation’s capital, reports that former Obama National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes has been added to the House Intelligence Committee’s growing list of suspects in the illegal unmasking investigation.  Rhodes joins the mugshot lineup that already includes Obama-era luminaries like Samantha Power, John Brennan and Susan Rice.  You may remember Rhodes, who is most famous for openly admitting to an interviewer that the Obama Administration and fake news media regularly coordinated narratives and messages.
  • My God, dude, have you no life at all? – After President Trump used the term “Paddy Wagon” in a speech to law enforcement officials last week, the fake editors at the Washington Post thought it would be a great idea to run a 700 word dissertation by some guy named James Mulvaney about why this “slur” is “insulting…to Irish Americans”.  Mr. Mulvaney, like almost every leftist in the United States, has no sense of humor.  Fair warning to parents of college-age children with law-degree aspirations:  Mulvaney is adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, at least if the WaPo can be believed on that point, which as we have found, is an unsafe assumption at best.  The lesson here is, don’t let your kids attend John Jay College.
  •  Wait, wasn’t Bain Capital the Devil to you guys just 5 years ago? – Don’t look now, but Politico reports that Barack Obama has decided that the Democrats’ best hope to run against Donald Trump in 2020 is…wait for it…wait for it…DEVAL PATRICK!  What’s that?  The name sounds sort familiar but you really have no idea who that is?  Yeah, that’s the point.  For those who, like me, had a hard time recalling exactly who this clown is while reading that story, Mr. Patrick is an ex-Governor of Massachusetts, something that, in addition to being an executive at Bain Capital, he has in common with Mitt Romney.  You remember Bain Capital, right?  That’s the firm that, in 2012, was portrayed by the Obama campaign and the fake news media as representing everything that is wrong with America.  Five years later, it’s no big deal.  But whatever, trust me on this:  If the 2020 Democrat field is made up of 80 year-old communist Bernie Sanders, 74 year-old lifetime criminal Hillary Clinton, 70 year-old fake Indian Elizabeth Warren and an obscure ex-Governor of Massachusetts, the Party might as well not even bother.
  • How did this get into the NYTimes? – Don’t look now, but a member of the editorial staff at the NYTimes somehow slipped an op-ed piece past his colleagues titled “When Progressives Embrace Hate”.  Nevermind, of course, that American progressives have embraced hate since the day American progressives became a thing, this is the NYTimes we’re talking about here.  This is actual (pardon the pun) progress!  The editor, Bari Weiss, writes about 800 words about how awful it is that the organizers of the Women’s March last January included the hate-mongering Islamist Linda Sarsour, and how repugnant it is that this hateful woman continues to be embraced by American progressives.  That’s all true, and it is indeed nice of at least one person on the NYTimes editorial board to finally notice Ms. Sarsour’s true nature, but it’s hilarious that Ms. Weiss thinks this is all somehow a surprise.  Had she been paying any attention at all, she would know that the entire progressive philosophy is based on hate.  But, to quote the great John McClain, “Welcome to the party, pal.”

Just another day in fake news media America.

That is all.
